the way I listen and interact with music I don't often know much about the band but when I started listening to Rainbow Kitten Surprise I became engulfed

I only recently started looking into more information since I've memorized all their songs at this point (i got in the top 1% of listeners on Spotify which made me really happy :3)

I cried so hard when I found out that the lead singer, Ela, came out this year of march

This band resignates so deeply and has been contected to my trans journey since

I sadly won't be able to attend any upcoming show but I so desperately want to hear them in concert

i’m emotional and it’s 3am so i’m not going to write out the thing i wanted to say rn but i just wanted to tell you all that i saw them in concert tonight in tennessee and it was so so good. ela talked about how beautiful appalachia is and how much love there is here. then she sang queer love songs and queer heartbreak songs and queer revolution songs and i danced with strangers and i cried with strangers and we were all there and queer together. we’re still here. i can’t describe how incredible it was. trans women are everything. it was joyful.

Liam had bipolar disorder? I didn’t know that. It’s possible of course, but also drugs can induce psychosis or mania and that doesn’t mean the person has bipolar disorder. I was just listening to a podcast from Ela Melo, the lead singer of the band Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and she was in inpatient mental health treatment and diagnosed with bipolar disorder after thinking the stars and the moon were talking to her and behaving strangely on stage, not sleeping for days at a time, feeling high and euphoric (and not bc of drugs), etc. To me it sounded like Liam suffered from depression and substance use disorder, and that was the cause of his issues (plus fame and self esteem issues) not bipolar disorder.

he definitely struggled with depression and addiction over the year, but i saw he recently said he had a new diagnosis. he didn’t specify what and i assumed it was bipolar but i could be wrong and the manic episode could’ve been triggered by something else. regardless, it doesn’t really matter if he did or didn’t have bipolar. we all knew he was suffering, and trying to get better. and unless we get confirmation of it somehow, i also don’t think he killed himself. it doesn’t make sense to me
