let’s talk about the mike and will convo on top of the car. not because it parallels jancy (tho it does), or the interruption trope (tho it happens), or the [tender, emotional music] (tho it’s there), but because of what is specifically said. mike says “i should’ve explained myself cuz then maybe eleven would’ve taken me with her and things would be different, but…i didn’t…i didn’t know what to say.” then will says “sometimes i think it’s just scary to open up like that. to say how you really feel. especially to people you care about the most. because what if…what if they don’t like the truth?”
what if they don’t like the truth?
that is such a choice to use that specific line. as an audience, we know that will is talking about his own feelings for mike, but this little speech from will is also supposed to apply to mike’s situation with el. just like when will confesses his feelings to mike using el as a conduit, it’s supposed to also apply to el’s actual feelings for mike.
but the thing is, mike is thinking about the fact that he didn’t tell el he loves her. because if he had, maybe she would’ve taken him with her and things would be different. because “i love you” is what el wants to hear. if loving el is mike’s truth, why wouldn’t el like to hear it?
and then mike’s nod after, like he agrees with what will is saying. like he knows will is right. but why would el not like “the truth” of mike being in love with her?
unless that’s NOT the truth.

obsessed w this post. feels really expressive of the ideas behind "socialism is against human nature". the humanities are Bad and Stupid which is why they like socialism, and socialism won't work because the fucking insane idea that "ugly people" (by which they undoubtedly mean "fat people") go to the beach to "benefit from the presence of sexy people" like. what the fuck are you talking about ❤️

A Court of Dancing Shadows
As Recorded by Gwyneth Berdara
A potential summary and description of the Azriel Gwyn Nesta book idea* that is floating around, the plot of which I can’t stop thinking about and trying to imagine:
Follow Az and Gwyn in dual POV as Az and Nesta go on a journey to revive dusk and establish Valkyrie HQ with Gwyn as their sidekick.
Gwyn is there as an official scribe, making sure this gets recorded for Prythian history (I mean what else is her role?), but also I guess as Az’s girlfriend? (I am refraining from continuing down this path of thought before I say something bad.)
Gwyn’s POVs focus on Nesta, what she does, how she uses the Starborn power or whatever to revive dusk (I know I know Nesta’s power is death, how are she and Az, whose power is shadows, going to bring the land back to life? It’s not my job to answer these questions. This is their story. But I digress.), and also how obsessed Gwyn is with Az and his shadows.
Gwyn almost gets eaten by a Wyrm. Nesta saves her with a Trove weapon Gwyn can’t wield.
And while they travel the land, at night, Gwyn sings around the campfire and Az’s shadows dance. Az sometimes joins in the singing. Nesta watches. And then Gwyn and Az sneak away from Nesta once she’s asleep to f*ck. Hopefully she doesn’t hear.
One brother, one sister, and a bestie (and the shadows who love her).
Cassian is…nowhere to be found on this journey lol. Nesta could leave him behind (and he let her apparently).
And we get more Valkyrie training scenes and get to see them ride the Pegasi after they free Dusk and establish Valkyrie HQ.
Oh, and Gwyn somehow heals Az (even though I thought Az needed therapy first?) and makes him love Illyrians again.
The end!
I can’t 🤣🤣🤣
*this is a shitpost and a joke but also…..someone please help me understand what the actual plot and romance and storyline of this book would be because I’m at a loss.

Thinking about the levels of toxic masculinity that Sett internalizes across verses has been like a fun little exercise for myself.
Like main verse is high up on that list considering he has a reputation to hold, so it usually manifests itself when he's at the pit. But it's also something he definitely doesn't let go of when he's not there. Overall he's a lot more short fused and is a lot more prone to settling disputes violently. Tends to lean into macho man, "I'll give you something to cry about" type shit and in general is harsh on himself when he tries to express emotions to those other than his mom. He's made some progress but he defaults into it a lot and has to switch his mindset in the moment.
Surprisingly, Odyssey is right up there with main but not by his own choice I think. He falls more into perpetuating toxic masculinity in this verse out of survival. He tries not to be emotionally involved more than he has to with anyone, doesn't manage his anger well, and keeps a lot of his issues internalized that tend to manifest in a very specific violent matter. And then when you couple that with the only outlet being, well, fighting it tends to nurture this unfortunately (good for the Emperor probably though).
As I put more thought into Star Guardian (and hopefully write all the ideas down fr) I can say he sits at a solid middle ground with this. Being an outer guardian cemented him in having to unlearn a lot of bullshit he internalized so he's... better about it mostly. He's still short fused but directs his anger in a healthier manner aka I'm going on a walk if you need me I'll be one punching some space monster. Which, is ideal than taking it out on a fellow Star Guardian. He's a lot more in tune with his emotions here too, it's really just the anger and the violence setting him back a little bit.
Then you hit hea/rtsteel where for a majority of his life his dad's in the picture making both his and his mom's life a living hell with how genuinely up his own ass he was. For a majority of Sett's life growing up and having that as his only example of masculinity was detrimental to his, well, everything to be honest. But he unlearns a lot of the things that had been laid out for him to fall into, it gets easier when he's doing his own thing in the industry. But while yeah he has moments where he feels like he takes 5 steps backwards when he takes 2 forward, he's far more along than any other verse when it comes to out growing his toxic masculinity.

I'm extremely conflicted about this. On one hand? Bart fucking with reality is on brand and we love to see it. On the other hand? This writing is so fucking stupid.
Bart wasn't strong enough to trap a fifth dimensional imp on his own so he... got Tim, Cassie, Kon, Cissie and RT to vaguely wave their arms in his direction? What exactly did they contribute here? How exactly did two non powered humans, a robot, a half Kryptonian and a demigod contribute to Bart's reality bending quantum entanglement trap?
I'd honestly even take the power of love as an excuse because that's the go to thing in Flash lore but there's no mention of that at all, so????
I'm taking the reality bending quantum entanglement trap for lore purposes and the rest of this series can go jump off a cliff.

Despite always bitching about black t-shirt Kon, I bought a black Superboy shirt.
And to make it less boring, I just cut off the sleeves.
Boom. Suddenly it FUCKS. Went from boring ass cliche teen boy to cool and gay motherfucker.

ST has a kidnapper, literal aliens, two child abusers, a groomer, Russian and American agents who tortured and most likely killed people, the two bullies who tried to kill Mike and threatened to cut out Dustin's teeth (held a knife to his neck), an infant Republican with a gun and a cultlike influence, and the lovechild of Freddy Krueger + Pennywise... and yet a teenage abuse victim is the worst character to come out of the show?
And another thing: Dr. Brenner gets attacked by a Demogorgon and survives, but Bob Newby doesn't?

I think the difference between Mike and Max we learn in season 4 is that Mike actually wants to die while Max is just repressing her emotions and need someone to talk too

I do love how Jon Kent is one of those things which utterly fucks over the DC timeline.
Like. Jon cannot have been born before Reign of the Supermen without making some major retcons to Death and to Lois's deal throughout that story.
Jon Kent was 10 before any time warping shenanigans got involved.
Kon El was Superman/Superboy at the time of Reign (meaning he appeared at this time).
Kon El has to have been around for at least ten years.
Unless we make major edits to the timeline Kon and YJ all have to have been around for around 10 years.
Kon and YJ all have to be in their 20s at least.
