DSC_1875 - Eurofighter EF-2000, ZH588, Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon, London, 13th January 2022. by Martin Laycock Via Flickr: One of the seven EF 2000 Development Aircraft (DAs) built by the Eurofighter Partner Companies (EPCs), six of which later formed part of an intensive Flight Test Programme (FTP), as one had been lost in an accident. DA2 was the first British-built Eurofighter prototype and also the first to be completed. Despite this, she was the second Eurofighter to actually fly on the 6th April 1994, albeit powered by 2 RB199 Mk. 104Es, these engines originated from the retired BAe EAP. She was eventually retrofitted with EJ200 turbofans and flew again in this configuration in August of 1998. She was also used to complete the first air-to-air refuelling trials. The 'Fighting Cock' marking on the vertical stabiliser relates to her being temporarily based at RAF Leauchars, Fife, home of 43 Squadron during 2001 for airflow measurement trials. She made her final flight on the 29th January 2007 landing at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire after a total of 652 sorties and a total flying time of 614 hours 44 minutes. Eurofighter prototype DA1 is also preserved, being with the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleissheim near Munich since March 2007.

Spain officially acquires 20 Typhoon fighters within the Halcón project
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/23/2022 - 6:13 PM in Air Shows, ILA Berlin, Military
The Spanish Ministry of Defense signed the official contract for the purchase of additional Eurofighter Typhoon jets under the Halcón project.
Announced at the ILA air show in Berlin, the project will see Eurofighter GmbH, NATO EF2000 and Tornado Development, Production and Logistics Management Agency (NETMA) and Eurojet Turbo GmbH deliver a total of 20 combat aircraft.
The new fuselages will include 16 single-seater fighters and 4 double-seaters equipped with electronic radar (e-scan) that will replace part of the legacy F-18 fleet.
The order will increase the Spanish fleet of Eurofighters to 90 aircraft.
The aircraft, as well as those of the German Quadriga program signed in 2020, will also be equipped with hardware and software with future updates and a wider multifunctional capability to engage aerial and ground targets.
The final assembly of the aircraft for Spain will be carried out by Airbus in Getafe, Spain, with the first Halcón aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2026. The new order will guarantee industrial activity by 2030.
The contract for the additional fuselages was announced after the Spanish government authorized the acquisition in December 2021.
"These new 20 Typhoons and 48 new EJ200 engines for Spain demonstrate that this weapons system is still operationally relevant to our air forces, an excellent option for central nations and any potential exporting country," said Spanish General Miguel Ángel Martín Pérez, head of the logistics support command of the Spanish Air Force. “In addition to other emerging European fighter programs, the Eurofighter and EJ200 engine offers a proven, modern and reliable capacity with potential for future growth based on an experience of more than 35 years.”
Eurofighter is the largest defense program in Europe, in which Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain are the main European partners. Currently, 680 Eurofighter aircraft have been sold to nine nations around the world.

How to Drive at 628mph
Going 1,000mph isn’t easy. But that’s exactly what the Bloodhound project wants to do. In order to do so you need a few things; a rather special car, a Rolls-Royce EJ200 jet and a rocket. Oh, and a rather brave person to sit behind the wheel. So strap your brain in as Top Gear magazine’s Ollie Marriage speaks to Andy Green about what it’s like to do 628mph – and how this car will try and hit 1,000.
