There's not many left in comparison to how they'd spilled in earlier and wolf senses of strength be dammed, he's exhausted. The knives on him, the small hand axe, they're all tainted with blood of all of those that had weaseled into the keep. "You alright?" Swallowing, he looks from where Goose is going to town on the slain creature at his feet to look back to assess the man who'd ran a sword through it first.

“I was stating my preference,” he says again, not attempting to start a fight. Not yet. At the end, he does prefer to be called a mercenary, something not sitting well on him when he hears it. Is he a bit nitpicky on the matter? Perhaps, but he does attempt to do good with his job, and he is more than aware of the negative reputation of sellswords. Mikhael goes to explain as much, but the elvhen’s words stop him on his track. One of his brows lifting slowly as he considers the possibilities. If he is lucky, the other will be part of the Ankhurian branch of the Vanguard. Fuck, he hopes he is lucky. “Do you practice as it is done in Astoria or in Ankhuria?”

"Did you feel better correcting me?" Eivor looked irritated, like the other had to use some proper term. At least they weren't a witch – or at least, as far as Eivor could tell. The Crusader picked up his sword, feeling the weight of it in his hand again. His duty was non existent at the moment, and he preferred it that way. "Avalon. A long time ago." That was all he said, though the Elvhen moved more like a caged animal than one of his graceful counterparts. "Now I'm of the Vanguard."

“   how  many  drinking  games  did  you  lose?   ”       yes,   that  was  a  very  subtle  jab  at  eivor’s  morning  appearance.     playful,   of  course.    randvi’s  voice  this  softer  tone,   slower,   less  sophisticated  than  she’s  known  to  be.    there’s  always  a  woman  under  there  that  would  have  preferred  adventure  to  leadership.   randvi  smiles,   walking  around  the  long  table.    eyes  move  towards  an  even  less  fortunate  loser  of  drinking  games   -----   she  pulls  the  mug  out  from  under  his  head.    the  saxons  are  usually  quite  awful  at  making  it  all  the  way  through  a  feast.    the  saxon’s  head  slumps  onto  the  table.   he  merely  groans.

“I should very much like to be the subject matter expert on telperion,” Auden stated, unapologetic about the strings they attached to their offer for help. “I would imagine trying to assist you would cover half the work necessary to get there. But I respect your autonomy and your no.” They suspected Eivor might have misunderstood their price as they did their initial intentions, but the man’s problems weren’t going anywhere and neither was the forgemaster. Besides, most who turned Auden down found their back back to them eventually, with much less stringent boundaries and conditions. “If you change your mind, I hope you will seek me out again. I would like to help you.” 

Auden stood when Eivor voiced his intention to leave, but paused, their hands perched on the back of the ornately carved chair they had been occupying a moment ago. A firm nod was given in affirmation that whatever was done to Eivor should not happen again. But for now, it seemed too much was unknown to either of them to do the legwork that would be necessary to make that happen–for now, at least.

Everything had a price, even those of his own kind. He could see it in the way they carefully picked their words, had a shop in the midst of the...witches of Eterna. This place was not his home; Avalon was not what it used to be. Eivor let his hand flex for a moment, though it wasn't much of a comfort as he wished it to be. "Your price sounds too steep for an Elvhen of Avalon. I didn't know it was such a currency within the Moongate. Is this metal in my blood not steep enough? It's a part of me, and here you ask for more." He refrained from asking if times were that bad, but – he'd find his help elsewhere from someone he could trust.

Auden had a name for themselves, though. He knew they were one of the great Elvhen smiths, but Eivor did not know them. For now, though, he'd accept the advice for what it was. They couldn't do much without a sample, and if telperion was that difficult to get ahold of at the minute, he'd keep it for the time being. "Fine, I guess that's all I needed, then." He didn't wish to waste anymore of their time, but he would have to wait until he was certain that the Elvhen outside of Avalon could be trusted as such. "If I find something that is similar, I will let you know. Only so you could stop it happening to others as it was done to myself." That much he could hope – Auden didn't seem the cruel type, to wish to ensure their legacy so far as to combine a living Elvhen with metal and mercury – "Dareth Shiral," he muttered the Elvhen goodbye, turning to leave.

“Hmm,” she half-grunted in response to his answer. “I had expected more from you. It almost feels as if you’re withholding, you’ve been so blunt and opinionated up until now.” She craned her neck for a moment, only to look onward and assure herself the masses that journeyed ahead of them were undisturbed. “Well, I certainly appear before you unfettered,” she assured him. “And perhaps trying to make decisions for the greatest good possible could be interpreted as a lack of free will, but I suspect that isn’t what you mean.” She looked over at him, his sour expression and surly demeanor didn’t exactly put her off–his candid approach was refreshing. Too many people chose their words too carefully around her for her liking, and it made her feel disconnected most of the time. “I’m not blind to the fact that I’m an exception, though.” 

The question struck her. Freydis was so certain that he of all people would be the one to insist Iskaldrik deserved all of this and more. Did he honestly believe this was enough to wipe the slate of karma clean? To her, it exceeded the price that ought to be paid to right the wrongs of their society, but all at once it fell tragically short. She didn’t know how to explain this. “For some matters, yes. For others…” She shook her head slowly. His insinuation that she looked for further power in Eterna caused her to blow a sharp exhale of air through her nose. An almost sardonic, singular laugh escaped her. “I don’t even crave it now if we’re being honest,” she said all at once. “I fell into power more out of accident than intention.” She was surprised to hear herself say it–the truth after many, many years, many subsequent holmgangs, and the constant questioning of her leadership. She had never actually meant for any of it to happen. “But it happened. And I owe my people my every effort until it’s bled me dry.” She looked at him, her gaze direct. "I can't imagine you care to converse with anyone this would make a difference to, but your discretion would be appreciated nonetheless."

Man, woman, Elvhen, Human, Witch – there were a myriad of differences, and perhaps if Eivor was more in tune with the social cues of a place that was not his, he would've felt a little sheepish. He didn't, however, fixing her with his blue gaze, "Woman, with no shackles or the pain of no free will," Eivor waved his hand now. It wasn't the pity olympics, and he resumed to going back to saying less. A brooding Elvhen, that's what his friend incessantly called him, and he was proving them right at the moment. Freydis' benefits from being a Jarl in Iskaldrik were simply what she had reached out and grabbed, not something to be envied by one of his standards.

"Don't you think this is payback enough?" Eivor murmured, figuring the destruction of everything they had all known was good enough to warrant that. Yet, it had freed many that were unjustly captured. All things came back around. "Will you stick with your people when we are free of this wasteland? Women rule in Eterna. Perhaps it's what you crave."

My headcanon is that Kassandra is 6′ 0″ and Eivor is 5′ 6″. Because Kassandra is taller than just about everyone in her game and Eivor is shorter than everyone in her game.
