Something else the ship wars have made me aware of (and in turn made me want to rant again, so either buckle up or leave):
It's something that really bugs me, not just in fandom but in real life too- I spent the majority of my teenage years on 4chan, thinking I was a hardcore edgelord with the memes I posted and found funny. When I've had episodes in the past because of my mental health, I've done and said really abhorrent and immoral things. I used to call bad things 'gay' and joke about women 'asking for it'. Considering the way certain members of the fandom are digging up old posts from actors, I'm VERY glad my time in the trenches isn't accessible anymore, because dear god I was awful.
But you know what happened? I learned, I got better, I did my part and changed. Fandom, and the greater media in general, seems to forget (or disregard) that people CAN and do change and grow and learn. There seems to be an inability in general to believe that people can learn from their mistakes, and especially celebrities are constantly reminded of their wrongdoings instead of the fact they changed and the good that did. Some things ARE unforgivable, but y'all act like stupid memes from ten years ago is the equivalent to murder. I know if I was constantly attacked for dumbass 18yo me and their decisions I wouldn't get better, and I've seen others even double down on their bullshit SIMPLY because they enjoy being defiant and edgy.
Maybe I'm being naïve because I prefer to see the good in people first, and believe that everyone can change their views with education. But I've also learned in my optimism that people won't change if you attack them first. I also know from my own experience that apologies are hard, and personally I'd rather show I've changed my views by DOING good quietly than posting about it publicly. People can grow and change, you've just got to let them (and sometimes support them).
The people digging for old drama need to get a hobby, a real one. Posts I made decades ago have absolutely no bearing in the kind of person I am now, and I'll bet real world money that it applies to these actors too. We've all said and done dumb shit- hell, we're probably even saying things now that in another decade we'll hate ourselves for. In order to learn from our mistakes we have to make them first. But it's blatantly obvious these people are digging this up because they don't like a character or ship, not out of any real concern. And as another post I saw said- if you're gonna point fingers at one cast member, you need to point it at the rest too.
Anyway tl;dr- we've all said shit things in our pasts and grown from them, but if you don't want people harassing you for idiotic crap you said decades ago, don't do it to them.

What's Going On with Seng and Freen
I don't like to follow too much of the fandom drama, but I had to mention what's going on re: Seng and Freen, two QL industry artists.
Seng is a BL actor who has been in Secret Crush on You, Y Destiny, and War of Y, all partnered with Billy Patchanon. Seng was originally with Idolfactory but left on January 2023 when his contract expired.
Freen is a GL actor who has been in Secret Crush on You and GAP the Series both partnered with Becky.
The FreenBecky ship is particularly strong and this ship has been really active promoting and doing fanmeets since GAP aired.
Last week Idolfactory posted a notice that the privacy of one of their artists, Freen, had been violated and that they were taking legal action.
A video was posted a few days ago (no I'm not going to link it) taken through a window from a distance, showing Seng and Freen kissing. Since then, both Freen and Seng have come forward to say that yes, it is them in the video, that someone followed and recorded them without their permission, and they apologize to their fans.
I...just cannot handle the way people are talking about this on Twitter [still calling it that]. Thank goodness for this place, honestly.
Listen, feel however you want to feel about your ship being real, but don't shame a victim of stalking, harassment, and attempted extortion for having a relationship that isn't the one you hoped they had in their real, private lives.
No matter how much money someone makes from performing a relationship with someone else in a ship, they don't owe you their personhood. They are still allowed to be who they are and love who they love on their downtime.
Gatekeeping who can and cannot act in queer media does nothing but force people out of the closet (potentially threatening their life, depending on their circumstances) and take away peoples' fundamental right to decide who they share parts of themselves to and when. [Note if someone is in a position of power enforcing homophobic legislation or culture and they are outed that is different because it's about the hypocrisy of their politics and the prevention of further damage to other queer people]
Insisting that people who are acting as part of their job have been lying to you by not being the people they are pretending to be for money does nothing but explain that you don't understand the meaning of the words acting or job. If you don't like that shipping culture feels real when it isn't, then don't pay attention to it.
Leaving here the note from one of the authors of War of Y (which if you haven't seen it includes a plot in which another shipped Idolfactory couple, Tohru and First, play characters who are in a ship but one sleeps with a costar which potentially ruins both of their careers when it gets leaked to the press... it's all a bit wildly accurate tbh)
Tumblr media
[I know this rant is not for the people here who are going to see it but I had to yell it somewhere, sorry tumblr buds]
Editing to add: OMG I can't believe I forgot that I would have to say this, but also bisexuality and pansexuality exist, just because someone kisses someone of a different gender does not mean they also never have and never will enjoy kissing someone of the same gender, and either way it is literally none of your business and you cannot queerbait people in real life. That is Not A Thing. Please stop saying it.
If you want the industry to be better for out queer actors, contribute to a safer environment for queer actors to be out by supporting out queer actors, so that more actors can feel safe and have stable careers while out.

Sending all my blessing and prayers to the kid who'll play nico 🙏 may he be safe from the insane fans
Tbh, for all the development the internet has been going through, it's not a well-regulated place, as a whole. So, for better or worse, there will be negative comments. Like. It's nature. A given.
Ngl at this point maybe just take him/her off the Internet until the show dies down. It'd work better than hoping for the criticism to be civil.
And there will be disappointment. I guarantee you. Out of 10 live actions I'm aware of, 11 of them are disappointing. One Piece (Netflix), Gintama, Gambling Academy are the rarest of the rare to have made it to meet the readers' expectations, afaik. And even then: two of them are Japanese with highly skilled actors/actresses, the other (OP) involves Oda Eichiro himself as a strict supervisor. I don't watch it but I think Heartstopper did a good job too?
And we're talking about Disney? I, with all due respect (which is none), do not trust Disney. I don't have a reason and I don't need one Chances are they'll try to make some changes to it and it'll all be a bloodbath again smh.
For all it's worth, I know that a part of the readers/audience will be disappointed. And rightfully so. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
I'm talking about general dislike, not straight-up death threats, harassment, doxxing and all the nasties.
Nico di Angelo, whilst just a deuteragonist/ side character/ plot device (?), has a widespread effect on a minor community. Many, many have considered him some sort of emotional anchor/support (i don't have the English capacity for this lmao). As in: his existence - and along with that, a certain image of him - matters to a number of readers. And though that's not how I connect to him, I do think the number is not small.
To have an image you've been holding dear replaced by another that might or might not be totally different? - Some can accept that. Some cannot. And that's not unnatural or unethical.
I have to say, though, the kid who takes up the role isn't at fault either. I'm sure they'd try their best to bring Nico to the screen, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with wishing to bring out the best in playing your character.
But there are many factors contributing here. Do you think the kid would be free from criticism as long as they do a good job at it? I don't think so. The kid does nothing wrong, but that doesn't mean all the audience has to like him. That's not how entertainment works, no matter what Twitter tells you (hell even in life you'd have someone/thing you dislike right?).
The moment one concludes that the kid is not the Nico they want to see, they will consider leaving, and they can.
What matters here, though, is that those who turn it down don't go online spilling nasty things about the kid, and the rest don't suddenly become SJWs and go around harassing anyone not liking the in-show Nico.
Anw this is getting long. So. What I'm trying to say is that:
I don't wish for harassment of the young actor/ actress (? who knows srsly) who would play Nico, though I won't be surprised if they don't meet a few's expectations. I hope they won't be disheartened or god forbid feel/be threatened by crazy fans. I hope no one gets threatened.
Tbh if I have it my way, Nico di Angelo would never made it into real life. But that's just me gatekeeping (or hating on Disney... that depends).
Who knows anw? Maybe the Internet will learn the etiquette by the time Nico comes on stage, I'll just be deemed a pessimistic shit and we'll all be happy watching/ not watching the show. 🤷‍♀️ God bless us rlly.

That's just the way of the world, I'm afraid. You can't make everyone happy at the same time, unfortunately, and sadly a lot of people bask in their miserable mindset rather than try and search out for the positive things in life. It's a wonder how they ever find enjoyment in anything if they're determined to live in the past, but there's nothing we can really do in order to fix that problem. It's something they'll have to work on and the best thing we can do as individuals is encourage that. If they're too stubborn to see how exciting trying new things can be, that's on them, I'm afraid. What I don't understand about people saying they miss old Who is that they're usually speaking about the 2005 stuff, but that is new Doctor Who, no? So at some point they tuned into something new, enjoyed it and were probably frustrated at the people who watched it back in the 60's who told them it wasn't as good. The cycle is brutal, but it continues. There's nothing wrong with having a preference, but if you never try, you never really know. Right? I'm actually proud of myself for that little comparison, but shh, don't tell anyone. I'm trying to be humble out here. I can only imagine how exciting it would be to be part of such a legacy. There's something about the show that pushes boundaries, even now, the writers clearly have a certain view on the world and some people might be too afraid to express that into a 'kids' TV show, but it's important to teach those lessons early in life. It also feels like now matter how far they go, they'll never run out of material, because like you said, the show is constantly adapting. Who knows how long it's actually going to run for? All I know is that future generations are going to cling on to it as much as older ones and that's pretty magical. Having a show that transcends not only race, religion and gender but age too? That's a huge achievement and I don't think people bring that up enough. As an actor, I'm sure it's been one of the coolest things that had ever happened to you. It's wild how a show as popular as Doctor Who doesn't really rely on a single man actor, the regeneration aspect continues to allow it survive and that to me is mindblowing. Once I get back home from doing press, I'll be searching up some behind the scenes footage of you during your first day's on set as The Doctor. I'm sure it's cute, don't worry. It's only natural to be scared of something with such power behind it. You shouldn't be embrassed about that. We only fear things that matter. I'd be more concerned if you didn't care. Clearly whatever you did to calm your nerves worked, like I've said you were incredible. You run was so fun and you should be so proud of all you achieved. Yeah, but people do have this idea of your head. I've realised I'm like marmite in the sense that people either love me or despise me. Never realised how much that used to mess me up until recently. Sure, people would probably still watch or purchase but unfortunately we live in the generation of social media. People don't really watch TV much anymore, so a post on Instagram is worth my weight in gold sometimes. It's the quickest and easiest way to promote my work, but that doesn't mean it's the healthiest choice. I used to love reading, but haven't picked up a book in a hot minute. Maybe I should jump back into it. Do you have any recommendations? There was a time I used to love going out for walks, but the paparazzi don't leave me alone these days. Last time I tried, they kinda harassed me and when I asked them if they could leave me alone, they said no because I was a public figure and signed up for it. Music is a great escape though. There's nothing quite like getting lost in a body of work, transporting you to another world entirely. Looks like we so have something in common. I like that. What genre do you find yourself gravitating towards? Or do you love anything with a good beat?
There was a time years ago where I couldn't see that, it toom me a long time to come to terms with the fact I couldn't make everyone like me. I'm such a people pleaser. But, after a lot of therapy, I realised that living to please others isn't a way of life. The only people who's opinion really matters are those I care for, and realistically, would I get along with people who project such negative connotations on someone they don't know? It's hugely unlikely. I'm happy to hear you have a great support system you can fall back on, that's so important. Isn't it crazy how people can find such strong connections with a performance? That's what still gives me faith in humans. We're all connected somehow and sometimes something as simple as movie is enough to build those bridges. I do think it's important to put your heart into the work you do, it always shines through and I think people can truly tell when you're passionate about certain things. It's nice that you get to hear that quite often. Having a reach to people is a huge accomplishment and I know it probably makes your day every time you hear someone say that to you. You're so deserving of it. Oh wow, I promise I'll try my best to stay in that trust bubble you've built for me. I have an in with Gordon Rasmey, maybe he can talk me through baking the perfect red velvet cake just for you. He's actually not as scary as you'd think. No! Come one, I'm bad but I'm not that bad. You're still be alive at the end of it. You're a risk taker though? That's interesting. Tell me more about your daredevil antics. I'm afraid I'm on the more vanilla side of life, but I'm willing to bet you could turn my head. Do you think as humans we'll ever be satisfied with ourselves? I've always be curious as to if anyone is completely happy with themselves, you know? And if they are, is that healthy? Don't worry, I've got your back. Your secret will be safe with me, but I'm sure if anyone knew you cried over that speech, they wouldn't judge you for it. I'm not entirely sure anyone has heard that speech and been entirely fine afterwards. It's an emotional one, so it's bound to pull at your heart strings. When you had to perform them for the first time, I'm not surprised you shead a tear or two. Goodbyes are hard at the best of times, but with a speech like that being the conclusion, holding it together would have been impossible. Is this your sign of encouragement for me to harass the writer into creating new material so the world can be blessed with more seasons? It'll be a sweet harassment, don't worry. I think I can charm them somehow. Does that make it more exciting that you kind of have free reign with the dialogue though? Don't get me wrong, I understand that it must be a little terrifying but fun nonetheless. Matt, you're gorgeous. Anyone with a set of eyes can see that. Brunette, blonde, mohawk or silver fox, that's never going to change. People swoon over you with good reason, and I'm not even sure you're fully aware. The fact that you're charming on top of that? Entirely unfair. You must be following in your fathers footsteps already, no need to worry about that. My grandpa is a legend, he's literally the best person I know. I call him papa, and I think you'd get along really well. No matter how old he gets, I swear his thrist for life just grows stronger. He says, "youth is wasted on the young" everytime I say I'd rather chill in bed than go out. He's kinda right. Personally, I'd love to see how you acted if you were 21 again. If you decide to test that out, promise you'll invite me. Maybe you should see a chiropractor about your back ache if it's that bad. Really? That's so cool. I didn't have to audition for Only Murders for the same exact reason. It's nice when people have so much faith in you and they were right, you're the only person I can imagine as Daemon. Moffat made the right choice. You were perfect for The Doctor. Couldn't imagine anyone else being Eleven. Sherlock's loss was Doctor Who's gain.
I don't know. I think if I lay on the charm extra thick, I might be able to make your mom like me enough that she'd dig into the archives to quench my curiosity. But, I won't ask provided you don't watch Barney. No one needs to see that. Why would I blame your sister? She's incredible for watching Disney and giving me a career. If it wasn't for people like that, my show would have been cancelled and I'd have gone back to being a nobody. Tell her I said thank you for forcing you to watch my older projects, that's so sweet. Even sweeter that you watched with her... even if I'm a little embrassed. Yeah, Monte Carlo. That was a fun movie to make and Leighton is so nice. Have you ever met her? Sorry about the poor imitation of an English accent. Can you believe I had an dialect coach for that? Yikes. I did play two characters, that was actually pretty fun. I got to be a bitch to myself, which I'm not sure a lot of people get to do. Hey, this is a judgement free zone. Lizzie shaped a generation. I can't go to Rome without thinking of the Lizzie McGuire movie. My mom is hands down my favourite person. She sacrificed so much for me, and I know I'll never be able to repay her for all that she's done, but I try. Must make getting up particular hard. I'm enjoying my thirties but now you're scaring me for the forty mark. At least I know what to get you for Christmas now. Heat pads and cream, you'll be like a brand new, shiny penny. Do you have a memory foam mattress? I'm telling you, a game changer! Seriously, you need to take care of yourself, okay? Disney was wild. It was a lot to live up to, they had this thing that we were role models for kids not taking into accounts that we were kids too. Being perfect is impossible. When I said damn, a lot of parents wrote in complaints and refused to let their kids listen to my music after that. That was my first and only real Disney scandle. Miley is truly an amazing human being. She does so much and is still exactly the same as she's always been. Not to be cheesy, but there really is no taming her. She is who she is and I respect the hell out of her for never letting anyone change her. Yeah, there's definitely a moment as a child actor where you have to question if everything is worth it. A lot of people decide that it isn't and that's fair. It's a lot to handle for anyone but especially when you're so young. How is it we both meet people that work in the same things as us, but we never get paired together? The universe is keeping us apart. I just did Graham Norton two days ago with Nucti Gatawa! The nicest person ever. Did you enjoy spending time with Vanessa? Thank you. "Matt is amazing" will be my new catch phrase, so it better be yours too.
Tumblr media
It's so frustrating when people can't just be open to new things, when they've made their mind up before giving it a fair go. Honestly, sometimes it feels like no matter what you do, some people are just determined to nitpick. I think a lot of them don't even realise it. They get so caught up in what they already know and love that they don't see how much they're limiting themselves. They're afraid to admit something new might be just as good, if not better, because that would mean they were wrong. And yeah, some are probably too stubborn to admit it even if they do know. It's a shame really, 'cause they're missing out on so much by sticking to the same old stuff. Exactly, that's the best way to look at it! Nostalgia is great, but it doesn't mean you can't make space for something new as well. There's fresh material out there but you can go back to 2005 era and rewatch time and again. If anything, you can enjoy both, old and fresh stuff. You're right, you've got nothing to lose by giving it a go, and at the end of the day, the classics will always be there to fall back on. It's such a spot-on comparison. Doctor Who is one of those rare shows that's not just survived but thrived through all these years, constantly adapting. There's something amazing about being part of a show that doesn't just stay stuck in the past but continues to push boundaries. The evolution and adaptation to new times is what keep it fresh and relevant. It's a privilege to play a role that's bigger than any one actor and see how it keeps connecting with new audiences after so many years. I'm pretty sure there's some footage somewhere of my first day on set where I look absolutely terrified! I was 26 at the time, and stepping into a role with such a massive legacy was, to put it mildly, nerve-wracking. But once I got into the swing of it, I started to feel more at home in the role. There's your answer, because you're still you and it didn't get to your head, and people love that authenticity. You're not trying to be anything other than who you are, and that's what draws people in. It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, though I'm sure people are still going to watch the movie and buy Rare Beauty products even if you're not promoting them. Sometimes I'll do the simplest things like watch a show I love, or dive into a good book, you know just escape into a different world for a while. Other times, getting outside for a walk or a run helps clear my head. Music is a big one for me too, it can really shift your mood. It's great stress reliever. That's such a healthy way to look at it, crying in your room can feel like a release, but it doesn't change what others think. It can be really disheartening when people only see a tiny snippet of who you are and make assumptions. What helped me was really leaning into the support of my friends and family. It's amazing to see how a certain role can touch people's lives, I've had moments where I've seen how a performance can make someone see a piece of themselves in the story or find comfort in it during tough times. It might feel like sheer luck sometimes, but I also think when you put your heart into it, people pick up on that energy and it all makes sense. I'm glad you think that, it makes me proud to know I've been apart of something so important to society. I've had people come to me to say how much of an impact the show had on them, not just my Doctor, and it's such a fantastic moment. I have blind trust in you, Selena. Don't let me down here. I really think you'll nail it, even if you're not the best baker in town. I like taking risks. Maybe I'm risking my own wellbeing, but here we go. It's tricky, it can blur the lines between genuine feedback and what's just flattery. That can make it really easy to start nitpicking your own work, looking for flaws. I think it's only human to want that validation, but it can definitely lead to a cycle of self-doubt if you're not careful.
I love your plan, tissues at the ready is a solid strategy! I’ll keep it on the down-low if I get a bit misty-eyed too. Those heartfelt lines always get to me, tried me best not to cry on set that day, but of course it was mission failed. I'm here for the long haul, if they wanted to do even more seasons than Game of Thrones had, sign me up. But unless they keep extending the little material there is, I doubt it'll make it to five seasons. The good thing about GoT was the dialogues and in this show there's no source material for that. Honestly, that's being too generous! My dad was one handsome lad and if I look anything like him when I'm older, the silver fox is guaranteed, but he rocked that look so I'll take a leaf out of his book. Your grandpa is onto something, though, age is just a number. I've always said that too when I was younger, though. Maybe it's time to ditch the "old mindset" and start living like I'm 21 again… just with a bit more wisdom (and maybe a few more backaches)! I think they have me in consideration sometimes, I didn't even have to audition for House of the Dragon 'cause they thought I was their Daemon. But you know, when you get a few failed auditions for something you were kinda excited about, you become more reluctant to believe you're directors' favorite. Moffat didn't want me for Watson in Sherlock, but he did want me for Doctor Who so there's that! There's the silver lining. I can see the place the embarrassment comes from, even if I think being that young should exempt us from feeling so embarrassed. Look, those are out of everyone's reach! No one will ever be able to get a hold of them. I wouldn't dare burn them or I'm afraid of my mum would do to me, but these are impossible to get your hands in. I promise I won't search you and the dinosaur, but I admit there's curiosity there. I have! Listen, I blame my sister for all of this. She'd make me watch Disney Channel with her, even if she was already too old for it, I believe. I swear I had no control over it. I think I also watched this movie you did with Leighton Meester, Montecarlo? It was a good one! And you played two characters, didn't you? Lizzie McGuire style. Before you ask, yes, I saw Lizzie too. I can imagine the thrill of acting together being best friends. That's really beautiful. It sounds like your mom has been a huge influence in your life. Her advice about prioritizing your happiness is something we could all use more of. She did an incredible job raising you. Props to her for being that guiding light! It's only in the mornings but the back pain has been a bit of a nightmare. I haven't tried heat cream yet, but I'm definitely considering it. Maybe I should start stockpiling the stuff, along with a heating pad and some comfy cushions. Who knew getting older would come with a whole toolkit for managing aches and pains? These Disney people rules are insane. Damn is such a regular in my vocabulary. I didn't know all of that, I did assume Disney earned a good amount of money off of her. Hannah Montana was everywhere, it didn't matter where you looked, you'd find her merchandising. She still seems a grounded person, it didn't affect her big time. Many child actors become invisible willingly 'cause they grow more and more tired of the franchise they work for, but there she is still in the spotlight. Ohh, Vanessa too? I met her once on James Corden. I'll tune in and tell you how I like it. All right, I'll start saying how amazing I am out loud now.

Note
you're really dedicated to making reylos look horrible. like maybe 60% of reylos are actually awful people right but you really just want to make it look like 100% of them are
Man, first off how fucking deep are you yanking these fucking numbers of your asshole because this is shit antis say. 60%? That's over fucking half. I've seen some pretty toxic fandoms, which reylo is most fucking certainty not fucking one of them, that have better numbers than that. Fuck the Star Wars fandom itself, you know the fandom that made the kid who played Anakin have to get therapy, the fandom that caused the man who played Jar Jar to consider killing himself, the fandom who made the actor who played adult Anakin quit fucking acting for a really long time, the fandom who made Gorge Lucas not want to make fucking star wars anymore, the fandom that made the actress who played Rey leave Instagram, and the fandom who made the actress who played Rose just leave the fucking internet entirely has a better statistic than that and there are actually nazis in that fandom, on top of all the shit I just listed which is hardly fucking everything this trash fandom has done. The worse I seen the Reylos do is get upset with John Boyega because he made comments about fucking his coworker and I'm pretty fucking sure Daisy Ridley, a married woman, wouldn't fucking appreciate that. Generally sexual comments are regarded as sexual harassment even if they're in tweet form. The reylos were more appalled that a man who is close to her and calls her a friend would say something like that. I don't make mean spirited sexual comments about my friends to goad people on twitter of all fucking places, that's fucking weird. Either way, what happened was fucking minor. John Boyega is still on twitter and fairly unaffected by the event. Daisy on the other hand was harassed off twitter and instagram by fanboys upset that a girl was the main character by sending her fucking death threats. These things are not the fucking same. If you fucking think they are you need to reevaluate your moral compass. What the ever-loving fuck is fucking wrong with you? But your shit morals aside: Mmm. But those reylos. Just thinking about how much they want to see the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo be redeemed and live a happy life for once is just enough to put any unsympathetic asshole's panties in a bunch. I'm being fucking sarcastic by the way. There is not a single fucking thing wrong with that mindset. What is a bad mindset is dedicating a large chunk of your life to hating what is essentially Space Beauty and the Beast because you can't emotionally comprehend a simple fucking redemption arc. No, I'm dedicated to telling anti assfucks to go fuck off and out of a tag they ain't got any fuckin business being in to fucking start with. I don't like Anime and wouldn't you fucking guess it? You'll catch me dead before you see me in the fucking anime tag being a useless twat to people in that fandom. Because I'm not a fucking twat. Well... I mean I am, but not to people who don't deserve it. Antis deserve it. Antis who come into my fandom space and actively harass me and my friends for enjoying a canon ship really fucking deserve it.
I don't fucking care what a anti thinks about me. I want antis to hate me, fuck they already do so what the fuck is a little more? I ain't winning you fucknuts over with honey any fucking day soon so baby it's time to get the Raid. I want every single anti who meets and fights with me to remember the fucking prick who told them to fuck off in such excruciating detail it would overfill a Jehovah's Witness pamphlet.
I want every single fucking anti asshole who comes into contact with me to remember the mean alligator reylo who told them they can kindly just pop their heads back into their shitty assholes where I can only assume their shitty opinion originate from and sonic roll out into low tide. I don't give a flying fuck and honestly at this fucking point I don't fucking care anymore. It's been 8 fucking years and if your opinion on reylo was this shit that long ago having one more telling you to kindly dick off isn't going to change your fucking mind. Oh no, one asshole thinks a reylo is an cunt, the same asshole who just told me statistically they already think over 60% of reylos are just fucking cunts so why the actual fucking Christmas Christ do you think I give a single solitary shit about you thinking I'm a cunt? Go ahead mate. I don't fucking care what you think. But you can close the door on your fucking way out and I hope it smacks you in the fuckin ass so hard it sends you flying out space never to be fucking seen again. Fucking Bye Felicia.

scattered post-viewing thoughts on Fahlanruk episode 10 (though I actually started writing them about two thirds in)
- this is a good show to watch while the combination of caffeine and vague physical discomfort has absolutely destroyed my already limited attention span. It is not made any worse by watching in 15 to 30 second increments.
- this really is The Gossip Show. Over half the scenes are either of people gossiping about each other or digging for information so they can gossip later. Now, I like to gossip as much as the next person, but it's kind of boring to watch? At least the way this show is doing it. It means not that much actually happens, people just talk about it.
- Anna's back! Unfortunately all she does pretty much is gossip too :-/
- I love Pie's outfit and his sparkly bag. This show keeps presenting me with characters that I want to love, who seem very intriguing, but then they turn out to be gossips or creeps or both. No one on this show understands boundaries. Except Namwan, my one true love. Namwan darling, I hope you find someone equally kind and wise to love you the way you deserve. You may have to leave this university to find them though.
- I appreciate the show's commitment to keeping Fah shirtless as much as possible. (Congratulations to the actor for your impressive strength training results.) But also I felt very uncomfortable for him through the whole costume fitting scene, it seemed like everyone was trying to sexually harass him and his magically intermittent hickeys.
- Bringing all this food onto the stage and into the dressing room is making me nervous. I feel like you aren't supposed to eat so close to the sets and costumes.
- Perhaps Fah is learning to get over his jealousy around Sher's friendship with Prince? That would be healthy for everyone.
- Did Prince and Gear make up last episode and I just totally blanked on it? I cannot for the life of me recall anything about them post Prince sobbing in his living room. But he seems very calm about them this episode? Sorry guys, I just find you so very dull you don't stick in my brain.
- Oh maybe Fah is not getting over his jealousy lol.
- Oh hey it's finally this scene from the opening credits! (The shirtless photo shoot.) We still need to see Ping and Tap's tentative kiss and Sher sobbing on the floor.
- Oh my poor pining babies. That tentative non-hug. They are both so sad and awkward with each other. But also I feel like things are finally moving in the right direction with them. The darkest hour is just before dawn etc.
- I continue to think that Ping's actor is the best of the bunch. And he brings out the best work in Tap's actor. Who I think is the prettiest boy in the show. Although I do love Ping's hair. I hope I get to see them in other stuff!
- Ok I know I said I find Prince and Gear boring, but that little cheek kiss was cute!
- Oy. Yet another repetition of the same old fight between Fah and Sher. I know that's realistic to relationships but it's not that engaging to watch.
- Oh great, a return of the I'm mad at you/hurt by you so I'm going to sexually assault you trope. 🥴 (I typed tripe at first which honestly is a better word for it.)
- I feel like Fah and Sher's storyline keeps just going in circles. But I also find them fairly uninteresting and my brain becomes a sieve whenever they're on screen so it might just be that.
- My pining babies continue to be my favorite and there was not enough of them this week. But it looks like next week we get that tentative kiss!!!

This is why I feel really upset about celebrities.. And it does not matter if the celebrity is an actor, model, musician, designer. Doesn't matter the occupation.
They are normal people who deserve the right to be respected, to have any privacy for their personal life just like everyone else should have their privacy.
I know people have celebrities and characters they admire, who inspire them, or even have some crush on in some way. So I know people would research a lot of information about these people but searching for any information about another human will never be the same as actually knowing these people from personal experience. If a person wants their lives to be private, respect their privacy. Just like how you'd want people to respect your privacy. Whenever a lot of fans - if you'd call them fans - are researching the information about a celebrity, that never means you should spread personal information to stalk them in any way. Never dox their address for people to stalk them at their homes, to harass any family or friends either. Never dox their phone numbers or emails for you to try contacting them. Never stalk them just to record videos and audio that should be private with the celebrity and whoever they're with, since that is what leads to rumors on media that never concerns people who don't know that celebrity. Which is why, from what I've noticed, is why celebrities never use social media or even barely uses social media since they are sick of people believing they have rights to their personal lives. And, as events keep unraveling, I would not be surprised if celebrities even stopped attending conventions, meet and greets, anywhere where fans would be because of how they are being stalked. And I would never blame them if they did.
Stop mistreating celebrities just because you think you deserve to know every thing about their lives.
It takes one person to ruin an experience for people involved, it takes one person to ruin it for everyone.
People really need to learn how to control themselves like a normal human being.
This is why I hate people.
No, you're absolutely right, anon! Joseph is a human being and it is no one's business who he does or does not talk to. Like, I invite people to step outside their own little bubble for a moment and imagine some random person that they don't know being up in arms about them talking to someone, or filming them while speaking to said someone, or doxing their address and any other personal information. It's terrifying and we wouldn't want it done to us so why do people think it's okay to do it to celebs?? To the overzealous fans, if I can call you fans, of Joseph Quinn - leave him be or meet me in the Denny's parking lot!!

Liza that 3rd fragman 👀 "if I was born a 100 times I'd fall in love with you everytime" Eda saying this is their last obstacle and nothing can separate them, serkan's "I'll be right back, close your eyes I'm here" If this isn't all a red flag for shits about to hit the fan then I don't know what is LOL (but also how cute to Edser look and them telling each other they love each other very much 😭😭😭)
That fragman is both the SWEETEST and the MOST OMINOUS thing I’ve ever seen. ALL AT ONCE.
Friends... we’re gonna go through some things.  That being said, everything is going to be great. These writers have been solid so far, and I have faith they have come up with something really interesting to increase the longevity of this show. And I don’t know about you, but I’m prepared to go through some things if it means keeping Eda and Serkan for longer.  (I heart them)
This show is about Eda and Serkan and their love story, at it’s core it’s a comedy, it will all lead to happy things, but... yeah, buckle up!
I have a lot of asks both about the fragman and last ep, so I’m going to answer a bunch under the cut.
Anonymous said: The fandom theories about episode 28 have gotten so wild that I literally think the most shocking thing would be if they actually got married and were not separated (emotionally or physically). What if the earlier painful episodes were to make us believe that things couldn't possibly go right in 28 and it's a reverse psychology trick?
You could be right!  I like your thinking. I checked on twitter and I had to back away slowly. The juvenile temper tantrums were too much for me today.
Look, I think it’s clear something big is coming. It has to, there has to be something that shakes up the show. Some of the theories are more upsetting and catastrophic than others, but the writers won’t do anything that dings either character or their love for one another.  Whatever happens will showcase the connection between these two and the chemistry between the actors, that’s the point of everything, and anything that does those things is gonna be a-okay with me.
@jan31 Hi Liza. Do you think we are going to see the wedding in 28 or they will leave it on a cliffhanger for next week. Lots of theories going round mainly cos of Neslihan saying new dimensions coming in episode 29, which could just mean married life etc. I have seen suggestions of memory loss, it's all a dream since episode one. I would personally love Eda to wake up like in episode one but for it to be a total turn around and she is the boss and Serkan the employee. Eda being robot yildiz appeals to me!!! I know it will never happen but leave me here with my dreams!!
I started the day at 90% sure they’ll be married in 28/29, but now I’m down to like 30% that they’ll get married in these episodes. I really, really want them to get married before whatever happens happens, because every scenario I can think of for this reset or starting again, seems like it would be better if they were married.
However, the shooting spoilers from today, make me question that. Namely the videos where Hande appears to still be wearing the ring on her right hand. We shall see, that could be for many reasons.
Honestly, though, I wouldn’t hate a memory loss storyline. Seeing one of them (and Serkan’s line in the trailer makes it seem like it might be him) lose their memory and have to fall in love all over again? There are worse fates for a shipper than getting to experience that all again but in a different way.
Anonymous said: Your response to the fandom drama anon was so good, it's exactly how I feel. While I don't know what the old posts that were like are (that's shady as fuck) I did see all the other drama go down and wow. The actresses def need to stay in their lane and some of the fans, hoooo boy, it's obvious they're young based off their reactions alone. Had to unfollow some people once I realized what they were like. Also some of the IRL shipping reminded me of col*fer stuff, reading into everything and blowing it out of proportion (which then gets picked up by paps....). But you're right in that at least the show related drama is tame compared to OUAT. But still, people being too careless even while they know the paps see everything and harass Kerem and hande (omg did you see the video of hande the other day stopped in the van and she looked so overwhelmed 😔)
You’re referencing this post here about yesterday’s drama.
Today Neslihan made it worse by addressing everything and claiming she didn’t like all those Hande-bashing posts because... wait for it... she was HACKED. Oy. Hackers got in and went back two years to like gross posts about Hande? Sure, Jan. While I don’t believe that for a second, I guess that at least gives her cover with Hande so they can all pretend it’s true and move on so it’s not awkward on set.  But, yikes, she needs to consult a publicist, she took a narrative that was circulating in certain circles in fandom and made sure all her followers were aware. Not very savvy.
As for the paps coming after Hande, yes I did see her in the car, she did look overwhelmed. Back off vultures!!! That’s why I think Kerem sometimes throws himself to the wolves so that doesn’t happen. She always handles them like a pro, but you can tell she’d rather be anywhere else on earth than talking to them.
The pap stuff is worse than I’ve seen before, they’re like vultures circling for any conjecture (sometimes made up out of thin air) they can turn into a question and blame fans. OUAT actors dealt with nothing like this. Also I can’t believe they never ask about the show. Like after last week? They could legit ask about the sex scene which probably would have given them some angle on the actors that they wanted, (especially since it was too hot for Turkish TV) but they let that pass them by, and instead asked the same questions about being together that they never answer. Dumbasses. They are not only awful people, they are awful at their jobs.
In Van, the paps pay off crew members for info, they always know more than fans. Also I don’t remember stars of my shows getting this level of tabloid attention before. Except for on Riverdale, Lili and Cole generated that level of interest, and while I didn’t pay terribly close attention to them, I feel like they rarely talked to the paps, were just photographed. Also I don’t suspected the CW of calling the paps on them, but I suspect either the network or production company of sometimes calling them on Hande and Kerem.
Anonymous said: Do you think it’s weird that they didn’t touch the kidnapping at all in either trailer? They might not have filmed it in time for the 1st one but certainly the 2nd. And I’m definitely not complaining about the ones we got because its like a fairytale but the kidnapping was the cliffhanger...? 🧐 I think they should’ve just left the princes storyline at “he went back to his country” but then they didn’t so......
If they’d left his story at just going back to his country, then the Prince really wouldn’t have served his purpose. He was brought on to cause some sort of trouble, so they probably need him to cause the trouble before he goes, lets hope it ends with this kidnapping!
And to answer your question, yes, I do think it’s weird that neither trailer touched on it. On any other show I’d think it was a huge red flag, but on this show maybe not as much because  a) there’s obviously a lot of romance in this episode, it’s not crazy that they are focusing on that to draw people in with the promos  b) this show likes to do cliffhangers that end up being no big deal, that happens a lot.
Who knows it could turn out to be a big deal that shapes the rest of the episode in some unexpected way (Eda’s captured the whole episode and she’s dreaming about wedding prep, or... who knows) but I think it’s more likely that they resolve in the first 5-10 minutes and then move on.  Since we know from the summary (not that I trust those) that Serkan goes on the bachelor weekend, it feels like the Prince is taken care of prior to that. I don’t think he’d leave her alone for a second if there was a chance the Prince was still a threat. Perhaps Babaanne is pissed he tried to kidnap Eda and tells them she’ll handle it herself???
Anonymous said: Semiha not being in the promo is highkey suspicious. The actress is promoting the episode lol. She's about to Evil Queen this wedding ceremony but you know what, I'm fine with whatever she has planned if they end up married at the end of the day. What's funny is that since a lot of fans these days will assume that there will be shocking negative plot twists, not actually having one here would be a plot twist so I hope the writers keep them together for whatever's next haha
You’re not wrong, at this point, having this wedding take place would be a shocking twist for all of us!  As for Semiha... hmmm... it will be interesting to see what her reaction is to Eda being kidnapped by her pick of suitor. Serkan Bolat might be the son of the man indirectly responsible for her parents death, but he would never hurt her. Take note, Grandbag!
Anonymous said: Do you mind sharing your speculative scenarios?
After the trailer today, I don’t know if I can even remember some of them.
Memory loss
Grandma forces Serkan to choose between Eda and his company/wealth,  he chooses Eda and they start over from scratch with nothing
Time jump
AU starting over, showing a different path they might have taken together
Dream
These actors playing different characters in a new story
I don’t think the last three are likely, but they did spring to mind after some of Neslihan’s teases.
Anonymous said: So this show doesn't get like fantastic ratings (it actually seems to be on the lower end compared to all other dizis airing) but the social media engagement is off the charts. Why is that?!? Is the show just extraordinarily popular internationally? or that this is a "shipping" show? I'm floored by the numbers - its like no other show/fandom is even trying
The ratings were terrific during the summer. But to your point, it has a huge fandom both in Turkey and internationally, but it’s worth noting that most of those charts you see where it beats every other show in every imaginable social metric is just for Turkey.
It’s one of those lightning in a bottle situations where you get the right property and the right actors together at the right time and magic happens.  And, for sure, the number one reason is the shipping. Shipping drives fandom engagement, and a fantastic ship with a juicy, fun, tropey love story is what this show offers. It also offers up two extremely attractive, talented, likeable leads with off-the-charts chemistry (plus the added speculation about an off-camera relationship that has intrigued more than a few fans, tabloids and gossip sites and fueled interest) who have done a good job of building the fanbase through their social media engagement. Plus the timing is part of it as well. I don’t know about you, but this show hit the spot during this pandemic and the horror of 2020. We all needed this escape.
Anonymous said:Do you think something happened in the writers room after the backlash of 25 and fan disappointment after Ayse's announcement? I feel like a switch flipped and now we're in fanficland with how much good content we've gotten in these last two episodes. Like I thought maybe they should wrap up the series soon before the characters got completely off the tracks but they may be finding their groove now and I'm interested to see what their next twist is after they can write out Balca/Seymen.
I don’t know about a switch flip, this show has been fanfic land since the first episode!  The tropes! That is how I described it to multiple people when I first started watching: an AU fanfic come to life.
As for the writing changes, no, I don’t think backlash after 25 affected 26 or 27, because 26 was already 90% shot, and 27 already written. However, I assume they themselves could tell that 25 got just too dark and had strayed pretty far from the DNA of the series. While I didn’t think it was bad, it was not fun to watch and this show ought to be fun to watch.
Let’s hope, however, that the backlash affects future episodes in that they know what works... and what doesn’t.  The last two episodes definitely felt reminiscent of the first batch of episodes. Light, funny, romantic. If they can keep that tone... I’ll be thrilled.
Anonymous said: i didn't realize how much i missed "together" edser until watching 27.. it's been so long since they were "officially" together and we also had such few episodes of it.. ppl have been comparing it to 12 and while in some ways i agree, edser are always so different here than they were there. 12 was them navigating their new relationship.. they were more shy and finding their footing.. here they are very much established, as they should be after knowing their love for so long in comparison to 12!
Yes, it was lovely. You know I’ve preached a lot about how even though Eda and Serkan were broken up, they’ve still been together all this time. And it’s true, but there is something about them truly being together that is magical. We never got enough of that the first time around (a writing mistake in my opinion) and they’re so good together it’s lovely to watch.
Anonymous said: Serkan not asking for help from Balca when asking his team for help with the marriage gifts preparations and refusing her offer of help when she asked made me so happy. Good job Serkan! He's learning! She's not trustworthy!
Yes, that was a good moment. And he was eyeing her very warily when she offered. The thing I don’t understand is how has no one caught on that she’s working with Babaanne? That entire office is filled with nosy people, has no one remarked on the number of times Balca has gone up to the office or they’ve disappeared for lunch at the same time? Come on Leyla! Come on Melo! Notice these things!
Anonymous said: Fingers crossed that we finally make progress towards getting rid of Seiman & Balca now that all the girls were drugged and Eda was put in the car in the last episode. Unless Seiman has a change of heart and takes Eda back inside before anyone wakes & the guys get there then the show has to address it. Although I do not think Balca is going to back down unless Serkan straight up tells her he has zero interest in her and never will. Totally fine if that happens in the next episode.
Will Balca backdown even if she’s humiliated like that? She’s so delusional I’m not sure. What I am sure is that she’s dangerous. This came in before we saw the other two fragmans that have no mention of the kidnapping. Hard to picture how that is so easily resolved. Unless she frees herself (which seems unlikely in her groggy state) or maybe Melo’s future boyfriend is able to stop it before they get far?  Or I don’t know. I just know that I want to see Serkan lose his mind and all the other characters see Serkan lose his mind and then I want it to be over. LOL.
Anonymous said: As much as I am loving everything Edser, I cannot wait for Seiman, Balca and Grandma to be gone. And I am even more annoyed to think that the show might try to redeem all 3 characters. All 3 of them are truly awful people and no need to waste air time trying to make the audience think any different. Just my opinion...🤷🏻‍♀️. Show please finally expose those 3 for the psychos they are and get rid of them.
Bye bitches!  I don’t think there’s any redemption for Balca and Seiman. They both have poisoned/dosed people, hard to come back from that.  And there is no need to redeem them because neither is compelling enough to be a long-term character. But maybe Granny, we probably will see a redemption arc for her.
Anonymous said: i know you were worried a few weeks ago that with ayse leaving as writer, we probably wouldn't have the same sort of comedy as previous episodes... but istg the whole kiz isteme scene, especially with chef alex, had me almost crying with laughter. especially when serkan off the cuff just goes "well if that's an option..." to everyone misunderstanding alex "wanting" ayfer for 2 nights and then eda ready to beat him with the flowers he bought her... comedic gold lmao.
SO GOOD! I was thrilled to see that sort of comedy, the sort of comedy we’d come to expect, from these writers. I think it bodes very well indeed!
That scene was amazing. I know Neslihan said that much of it was improvised. Probably that line from Serkan (since Serkan is SO out-of-his-mind in love I’m not sure he could even joke about having Eda only two nights a week! LOL) was improv from Kerem, and Aydan asking about the other nights, and Seyfi bringing up the weekend. And Eda’s very Hande-esque “Ser-KAN.”
I just love rewatching that scene and checking out everyone who is breaking character and just losing it. Cagri most of all. He’s blurred aback there but you can see Ferit spends the whole time laughing or trying to stifle a laugh. Reminds me of Cagri in the scene in 18 when they’re watching the security footage he was losing it in that scene as well.
Anonymous said: i'm scared - I think they are really about to give us all of these happy EdSer scenes only to have something happen RIGHT before the wedding ceremony due to Babaanne. Based on the last episode, I don't think there's any chance of a breakup (knock on wood) but what if Serkan gets arrested, goes to jail for 2 years, and we get a time jump?
This was sent before the last two teasers, so yes I think something is gonna happen. We shall see!  I don’t really think Serkan going to jail for 2 years is in the cards, at least I hope not!  Besides if Babaanne did that she would have no hopes of ever reconciling with Eda, so that seems unlikely she’d follow through and leave him there for so long a time.
Anonymous said: With the last week's sex scene, they did a lot of fade outs but the scene was basically still there so it wasn't much wasted effort for the actors. But for what they're teasing in episode 28 - idk how they can get away with showing them in the shower at all if Serkan lifting Eda with her clothes on had required blurring? Is Eda dropping her robe even pushing it? It's intriguing indeed.
Great questions. We’re 36 hours from finding out (well I'm longer than that because I wait for the English subs, hee hee) All I know is I want to see these scenes.. one way or another!

I am married to someone with an intense, if only midsized, fanbase. Parasocial relationships have been a part of our lives since long before it was a buzzword. It is weirdly fascinating to us, but sometimes a bit frightening. Now that it is the buzzword of the hour, seeing it misattributed is one of our pet peeves. I have seen people claim any amount of interaction on the fan's end is "pick me" (although fan interaction is necessary for his job) or claim that him utilizing social media makes him more culpable for forcing parasocial relationships on the fans because of power imbalances. If he is obvious about promoting something, though, it doesn't go over well because audiences don't want to feel like their being advertised to. Parasocial relationships are sometimes hurtful and scary on our end. 1) There was a woman who had been following his career since the 90s, when he wasn't as well known. She would often send him letters, gifts. Within the past 5 years something changed. I don't know why, but she suddenly began to consider him a boyfriend of sorts. He had never responded to these letters. I discovered she had been catfishing me under my private, locked social media accounts under a fake name, pretending to be someone I knew from high school. He blocked her on all social media. She harassed his coworkers until they blocked her too. A friend of mine said she went on TikTok to brag about how overly sensitive celebrities will block if you call them out for not being better than regular people. Meanwhile, we got a letter from her last year begging for him to forgive whatever she did that offended him. 2) 15ish years ago, in a magazine interview, my husband states his fave color. 2 years ago, I was having lunch with a friend, without my husband. A younger woman approached the table. She asksnif my husband was around and I said that he wasn't. Immediately her tone and expression changed to something nasty. She asked if I would at least give him a painting she had done of him. It was all done in various shades of the same color. I commented on this and she sneered at me with; "It's his fave color." I am still trying to be polite at this point and casually go; "Oh is it?" and she ery rudely snaps that I am his wife and I don't know his fave color like SHE does, so I have had it and say, assertively that I've had enough and she needs to leave. I gave it to my husband and told him the encounter. He laughed about it and said that it wasn't his fave color anymore. I had never thought to ask about his fave color because it just didn't seem important to either of us. He had never asked mine. Her twitter handle was on the painting so I looked it up. Her and a few friends were discussing the incident, using my first and last initials and my husband's first. They were discussing how clearly they know him deeper than I do, that he must secretly hate me if his own wife doesn't understand him like she does, and she altered the story so that she had seen him there earlier so I was clearly lying and that she had timidly approached the table and I had screamed at her that the color was ugly. I don't watch his interviews unless he specifically asks me to, because this is like listening in on someone's work meeting. This has been misconstrued by "fans" that I don't support him. I absolutely do, 200%, probably more than they support their husband's jobs, but watching his interviews isnt how i support him. I support him in our home, in our phone calls, in other ways he appreciates in our personal lives. Parasocial relationships are absolutely fine, until people start to believe they aren't in one, or that it is somehow more substantial than personal relationships the celebrities have with their loved ones. They truly think that they can Sherlock Holmes someone enough to truly know them better than the ones who actually know them in real life. (Sorry if you got this multiple times. Tumblr said it didnt send my ask.)
(Same anon from before) What fans need to understand is that parasocial relationships are good. It is fine to be a fan of someone, support their career, analyze them and write fanfiction and draw fanart of them or their characters. This is how my husband keeps his job, this is completely normal fan behavior. It isnt bad for the sake of existing. But they need to be aware that it is parasocial. I think the problem doesn't lie with parasocial relationships so much as when those in the relationship aren't aware that it is parasocial. Those who are aware of it being parasocial aren't the ones claiming that I do not know my husband but that they do or sending him love letters thinking their in a relationship with him. Those who know it is parasocial know that there is a difference between him answering questions in an interview (after being coached by a professional on how to appear and how to speak, and going into it knowing 90% of the questions) and having a conversation when there aren't cameras around, behind closed door. There is a difference between remembering a list of favorite things and watching someone enjoy those things in the moment every day in person. You just HAVE to be aware that they ARE parasocial.
First of all I gotta say I'm SUPER curious who you are (obviously you don't have to tell me!)! I've heard and seen things like what you described happen in several different fandoms of varying popularity, and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. But you're 100% right, engaging in regular fandom behaviour is perfectly normal, even interacting with creators/actors/musicians/whoever on social media (or in person if you meet them). It's HOW you interact with them. You need to both have your own and respect their boundaries.
I'm a fan of a couple 80s/90s boybands, as you just... ARE as an elder millennial lmao, and I can understand how easy it is as a young teen to go too far and cross boundaries because you just don't have the life experience or really, emotional regulation to interact with your idols in a normal way. But I've seen that now carry on well into adulthood, the things grown-ass women TO THIS DAY say about the wives of some of these band members is shocking (maybe not to you though since you've lived it!). I've had several conversations where I've had to remind people that literally every interaction they've had with these people at official meet & greets and stuff, even to an extent their interactions on social media, it's like the famous-person equivalent of Customer Service Voice. They're working! Of course they're nice to you when you paid like $500 to talk to them for thirty seconds! It doesn't mean you're friends!
(Not shaming paid M&Gs, I've done them, I'd do them again, it's an opportunity my 13 year old self never thought she'd had but like... I'm not secretly dating a Backstreet Boy because I met them for five seconds, y'know?)
Anyway yeah... all this to say, you're right. Parasocial relationships are a natural part of fandom and they're FINE and GOOD you just gotta respect boundaries.

How incorrect tagging contributes to SPN ship wars
@radioabsurd left this very impassioned rant about the behavior of SPN fandom in the main tags.  Let me point out that there are things here, that I would say are correct.  There are things however, that I am not happy with.  I am not certain about this person's sincerely.  Let me put it that way.  I edited bits that contained blasphemy because I don't want that nonsense in my post.  I also added bold font to the bits that made me smirk.  Other than that, everything is as it appears.  My commentary is in italics and brackets.  Thank to doll face for forwarding this to me.
Supernatural Fandom
If you hate the actual angel Jensen Ackles, don’t talk to me, like my shit or any of that.
[A polite suggestion for people to ignore her]
If you hate the actual angel Misha Collins, fuck off and don’t talk to me or like my shit.
[Disrespecting Misha warrant the use of profanity.]
If you hate on the actual angel Jared Padalecki, please block me or you will get blocked.
[A please is thrown in, so the politeness is back.  Also, note the order in which these actors are mentioned.  Any other person would mention Misha last.  But no, Jared gets last place, like an afterthought.]
I’m so tired of this hate people give each other in the fandom with the ship wars and shit.
[Honey, I would like to point out that all the hate, especially the violent ones directed to the actors, comes solely from the destiel shippers.  Everyone else retaliates.]
I FUCKING ship #destiel and #cockles, but in no way do I think J2 are not important to each other. They are the bestest of friends. In no way do I hate on Daneel, Vicki, or Gen(They are all actually queens).
[Well, at least you agree that the Js friendship is hated on by the Misha shippers.  The wife hate is a landmine.  Do people hate the wives because they ship the boys or because they genuinely found nothing to like in the wives?  I don't really care much for an actor's relatives.  But if the boys are happy, whatever rocks their boats.  Besides, who they marry is not my business.  Out of sight.  Out of mind.  If I like them, I would have no reason to go overboard and call them 'queens'.  But that is just my opinion on the subject.  Julia Roberts was never called a queen, despite her success.  Just pointing that out.  Do I think they deserve any hate?  I don't know them well enough to answer that one.  But if you put yourself out there, you are going to get the bad attention with the good.  As long as the hate doesn't extend to death threats, I say freedom of speech.  Just tag it appropriately.]
Even If I don’t ship #wincest I’m not going to FUCKING hate on somebody for their ship because guess what! I FUCKING ship #thorki and #t'cherik and wow I must be such a disgusting human being but these are freaking fictional characters and aren’t real! (Not talking about real people ships)
[This seems friendly enough until you get to the second mention of this topic.]
If you don’t agree with something please FUCKING get over it and block it or ignore it.
[You should see the replies I get, from hellers I call out of tagging incorrectly.  They don't block or ignore.]
Jeez, and all the ships hate on the wives and the other people on the show, not just one ship. XXXX, why am I even in this fandom.
[I concur.  There are haters of ships and people.  But unless you go into their appropriate tags, you will never find them.  Guess who tags all their hateful filth, including calling Jensen a homophobe, in the main tags? Yep, the destihellers.]
Also, if I get freaking hate on shipping #thorki (they’re not even real brothers okay, get over it) or #t'cherik (in the comics theyre not cousins thank you very much) and your in the supernatural fandom then your actually the problem.
[I don't know how to tell you this, but Sam and Dean are not real brothers either.  They are fictional.  So basically, in an offhanded manner, you have kind of insulted the people, you are telling others not to insult.  Just thought I would point that out.]
haters get on my nerves 👌🏽
[You are absolutely right.  I cant stand them either.  Especially the ones who tell Jared to kill himself and threaten to kill Jensen.  All destihellers.  I don't deal with haters as much.  Because I believe it is your prerogative to hate whoever you want.  As long as you tag it properly.  But I draw the line at death threats, because the hate has moved into malevolent territory.  That is why I don't go onto the anti tags.  Let them hate.  But when possible felony becomes an issue, I speak up.]
(there might be spelling errors but that’s life so what eves)
 [True!  My typing is atrocious.]
Tumblr media
My issue with this rant:
I appreciate the effort.  Don't get me wrong.  But there are issues presenting themselves here.  This rant is addressed to the entire fandom.  The problem is that is doesn't differentiate between the instigators and the retaliators.  There is an assumption, within the rant, that everyone should like the same things in the same manner without personal opinion or prejudice.  And to be honest, that kind of uniformity in human psychology, is unheard of in human societies.  We are all different.  We cannot be expected to enthusiastically love anyone or anything unless we have been given viable reason to.  The other baffling thing on this post is the anti Vicki tag.  Interestingly, there is no other post with this tag.  As far as I can see, nobody hates Victoria.  People are generally quite indifferent towards her.
So you are basically giving fandom and onlookers the impression that this woman gets hated when, in reality, she doesn't even force a blimp in the radar.  The only time I saw her being discussed, was when I watched in bemused amazement , as J2 tinhats were comparing her to one of the Js wives and talking about how much more nicer she was and how they respected her more.  So those particular J fans don't hate Victoria.  Do Misha's fans hate her?  If so, how are they tagging their hate.  I haven't seen anything.
You post makes no mention of actor harassment, cast and crew harassment, threats of arson and vandalism and actual attacks on fans by other fans.  There is a different between someone saying ''I cant stand Vicky'' and ''I am going to burn Vicky's home down, while she is still in it''.  A similar arson threat was sent to Jensen by a Misha fan.  Receipts for this, and other threats, are on my blog.  To my logic, death threats are a more pressing issue than hate.  All of the aforementioned are by destiel shipping and Misha stanning perpetrators.  To people who are not aware of this reality, if they read this post, they will assume that everyone in the fandom is hateful.  They won't know about the truth.  So no, all the shippers do not have an equal hand in trouble making.  There are some that are worse than others.
Finally, your tagging is contradictory and troublesome.  Tumblr recognizes 30 tags only, but the most effective are the first five.  For a post of this nature, you shouldn't have tagged Danneel twice.  Danneel has fans from her other endeavors. like One Tree Hill, who are not SPN fans.  They don't need to see this drama, which has nothing to do with them.  So that tag is a general/main tag and you should stay out of it.  The last two tags are for ships outside our fandom, and basically what you have done, by including those tags, is exposed outsiders to the dirty laundry that this fandom is known for.  This is where SPN's faulty reputation comes from.  ''Mentions'' is also a very widely used external tag.  It has not an SPN related tag, neither is it related to this post.  Tagging this post under that tag, also brings this fandom into disrepute.  The tags on this post, does this fandom no favors.
The post is not a hate post, [you are reprimanding all and sundry over putrid behavior] and therefore does not belong in the anti tags.  If you are trying to right the wrongs of this fandom, do it in the main ship tags, for the whole shipping section of fandom to see.  You cant tell people how to feel about someone.  And posting this particular rant in the anti tags, is essentially you telling those people not to hate whoever they genuinely cant stand.  If you are talking about a ship, tag the ship.  If you tag your post #anti Jensen, you are telling people, this post is about why I hate Jensen.  That is the point of that tag.  That is not exactly what your post is about, is it?  Now I tag in the main tags, and not in the anti tags because I tackle any subject that is going to cause a death threat to reach Jensen.  That is the policy behind my tagging system.  Your tagging system doesn't seem to make sense.  You cant tag Jensen and anti Jensen.  These two tags contradict each other.
Don't tag the characters on a TV show, because that is not what your post is about.  People who are non-shipping fans of Dean Winchester, don't want to be bombarded with this shipping-related rant.  This is not courteous to them.  Also, if you misspell a tag, the tag has consequently been rendered useless.  So there is essentially no point in having that tag.  Just replace or remove it.  Its not that hard.  Also, I don't think you know what a bibro is.  There are non-shippers amongst them.  So why are they a part of this ship-war rant?  You can't tag SPN or Supernatural, because the entire fandom doesn't need to see this.  The entire fandom are not shippers.  You were not addressing the entire fandom, so leave them out of it.  In fact, your title is incorrect too.
Judging by the crux of your post, the tags should have been:
Destiel, Wincest, Cockles, J2 Tinhats, Wincestiel
All the ship names are present.  So anyone who is involved with these ships will read them and understand.  If you want to add more tags [which I don't recommend] then add the following:
Sabriel, sastiel
I would tag these two ships because they are ships that three actors are a part of.  I don't recommend tagging the actor's names, because the post is not about them, but about shipper behavior.  They are merely mentioned as the motivation behind the hate, by your logic.  Their names are still general tags, and people searching Jared Padalecki might hate shipping and this post will give credulity to their hatred because it is invasive and makes shippers looks bad....well, worse would be the apt word to use.
I am conflicted about the motive of the rant.  No, I don't believe any of the actors are ''actual angels''.  They are human and flawed, some more than others.  I don't think their wives of sovereign control of anything.  But I appreciate the effort in bridge-building.  The doll face that sent me this, found the wincest remark offensive, but I am willing to give your the benefit of the doubt on that one, because I assume it was an honest mistake.  I am not a wincest fan though, which I why I am reacting a little differently.  Perhaps, because I am not emotionally invested.
P.S.:  Speaking of wincest, someone told me that even wincest ship posts are being tagged with the actor's and character's names.  I don't care what you ship, but by using general tags, you are not driving on your lane.  Stop mistagging.  Unless Jared Padalecki is really pregnant with someone's lovechild, don't tag him in an mpreg post.  I don't think he wants people knowing about his baby bump.  Tag politely.  Tags like Top!Sam and Bottom!Cas are NOT general tags, so that is ok.  But Sam Winchester and Jared Padalecki, for example, are general tags, so keep your shippy stuff away from it.  Wincest fans, its your job to clean house.
The reason why I am lenient with the wincest ship and J2 tinhatters, is because they are not repeat and frequent offenders, and they don't send death threats to actors.  In fact, if you search the wincest tag, you find a small handful of offenders, and a destiel offender who tagged her post weecest and wincest even though it was about destiel.  Now, why do that?
Respect the tags.  Respect the actors.  Stop behaving like SPN owes you something, and keep your fantasy on your side of the fandom.
Please excuse the typos.
