Eijun Week Day 7: Free Time

Somehow, I think it can actually fit the crossover prompt in day 2

"Okay, I'll do it!" Sawamura announces

It was one of the few days that they didn't have anything to do, since most of the people in their grade were on a trip which left the remaining students without anything to do

At first, it was fun, they had all the time in the world (Putting aside the homework and activities they were left to do) but then it hit him

Boredom.

He could have pulled someone to play catch with him. But they had training later, and besides it was one of the few chances he had to play something else aside from Baseball

So what did he choose? Volleyball.

"Here I go!" He threw the ball in the air as he got ready to receive it, and he did

The only problem was it didn't land in his hands

"AHSGHKF!" He yells out incoherently as the ball lands on his face, causing him to also fall over his butt

Sawamura glares at the volleyball which bounces off his face and lands on the top of his head causing it to bounce again and land on the floor in front of him

He knew it. He should have stuck to Baseball

Yeah. He should.

"KANEMARU! LET'S PLAY CATCH!" He calls out as he stands up and runs to look for his teammate

An hour's drive was nothing, and it took discipline to keep her from visiting too often, but Valentine's Day was a tradition she had so much fun with during those three wonderful, challenging years, that she didn't want to break from if she could help it. So she drove back with a smile on her face, enjoying last year's songs on the playlist heavily influenced by the occupants of room 5. Alice was still so familiar with the team's schedule that she timed her arrival to a lull in activities - the perfect time to distribute gifts. Having stayed in contact with the lovely managers who'd take her place, she knew they too had continued the tradition, and it made her happy to see so many boys walking around with colorful baggies in their hands. When she spotted a certain star pitcher in the distance, her face lit up, but instead of calling out to him, she decided to be a little more discreet and send him a text. She can't help but laugh at the way he checks the text, immediately starts looking around, and then shouts her name upon finding her. So much for trying to be discreet. But she was entirely too happy as he rushed over to give her a bear hug that lifted her clean off the ground. "Someone's grown stronger!" She noted with pride, wondering if he'd grown taller too or if it was just his presence that made him seem bigger and broader. "Happy Valentine's, Sawamura-kun!" She'd made them lemon blueberry cupcakes this time around, sweet but still more on the healthy side to not mess up their diet too much.

For holidays like this one, it had become Seido's motto that no one on the baseball team would ever feel left out. At least, according to the managers, who resolutely took up their senpai's habits to provide the entire team with store-bought desserts and treats, packaged individually with care. Eijun snapped a quick picture of their work out on display, then another of their smiling faces with the added caption "Sakurazuka's legacy lives on!"

Of course, the team couldn't just simply collect the goodwill of the hard working girls and leave it at that. No, no, no. Come White Day this year, Eijun will take the lead and compel every single player to gift back to them. As a third year and the ace, he had to be the one to set an example for the younger generations too.

Okumura was quick to poke holes in his idea, while Seto attempted to provide more reasonable ones. Words went completely over Eijun's head as he tried to take a more artistic close-up of his own gift wrapped in clear plastic and red ribbons. Out of everyone that left, Sakurazuka had been one of the few to keep in touch with him regularly, forgiving him easily when he forgets to reply. They've taken to spamming pictures of everything interesting, giving him a glimpse of life at her university and allowing her to witness the last leg of his high school career.

He blinked at the new alert that slid over the top of his screen, eyes alight with recognition at the characters of Sakurazuka's name, followed by text that wouldn't have made much sense, unless...

"Sakura-senpai!" He's saved the occasional selfie she sent, but nothing would beat seeing her in the flesh. It brought an odd sense of comfort, as it usually did with her calm, supportive presence. Especially after months of texting back and forth and short, tinny phone calls on the rare instance when their busy schedules aligned. She looked well, beautiful and happy, and Eijun couldn't help but to twirl once or twice once he had her in his arms again. It just hit him that he had missed her terribly. "It's so good to see you!"

He was practically glowing in his pride when he carefully set her back on her feet. "Yes! Coach Ochiai has been training me almost exclusively with weights in his spare time!" While he already had an impressive arsenal of pitch types, it was insisted that gaining in raw strength and speed would only be beneficial to him. It had been a long journey, but the single digit finally felt at home on the back of his jersey.

"But enough about that—you really came all this way to spoil us again! Our diligent managers are going to have a hard time keeping up with you!" Even so, he's still awing and salivating over the homemade cupcakes she brought with her, too eager to munch on one right then and there. "Mm, they look so good and they taste even better. Are you sure you're not studying to become a pastry chef, senpai?"

i am just going down the list morosely thinking abt ships involving a mc that i was into at one point but don't care abt anymore aaaaaaaaa shits depressing

tbh ik ive ranted abt this before bc liking a show or being in a fandom but unable to consume a good chunk of fan content bc you don't care for the main ship just sucks sometimes. i rly had a breakthrough w/ daiya bc i still love misawa and eijun as a character so much

but like. augh. op lawlu, which i knew of before i even got into op. i thought alikou (magi) was cute for the longest time and don't mind alimor but i was never srs abt making alibaba content. never liked kg/hn (hq!!) but everyone i thought was cute w hinata i shipped w some other char more. my main ship w kagami (knb) turned out to be such a rare ship and it's the only one i even remotely like. if you consider kuroko the mc then yea ok i have two ships i especially love w him but neither are w kagami sooooo

and this only goes for media where romance isn't the focus (and thus it's up to the fanbase to create content for). furubas for ex? i love kyo/tohru. magirevo? i love anis/euphie. different sort of thing entirely

continuing tho like... red from pksp? i don't ship him w ylw much anymore. it's cute but im not actively seeking content for it. naruto? don't care. takemichi (tokrev)? meh all the choices are fine. the list goes on . idk if this is acknowledging the mc has a story based around them already so my interest is pulled to underutilized side chars or if i just liked a non-protag ship more and as time passed i only grew to care abt a single ship and it ended up being uhhhhh not the main char one. who knows

it's not like i hate any of these but i just feel so indifferent to them these days. i'll see art or other content and think oh! that's cute! i guess! and then move on and a minute later it's deleted from my consciousness.

its more 'indifferent to the main char' and since a lot of fandom content is abt potential romance it ends up being inadvertently 'indifferent to mc ships' too. i think. i also think maybe it is in part that canon is so focused on the protag bc it's their story that i don't see the need to create or engage with content for them. the sandbox is bigger w non-focus characters, if that makes sense.

They pass through the final gate, panting heavily; breaths visible puffs in the air. Group two triumphed the first two gates, though group one snuck a victory at the third. This applied exceeding amounts of pressure for the fourth, and final gate; which just so happened to be about a couple of kilometers longer than the previous. If they didn't want to end the race in a tie, group two had to claim that final win. It wouldn't be as grand as a four-to-zero, but Eijun would settle for three-to-one.

Anything not to farm Oblivion Tunnels. Even though it was originally his idea, he dreaded the thought just as much as everyone else.  

Fortunately, group two snagged the final win, by quite a wide margin, too. Eijun supposed they had Miyuki to thank, as even with the extra mobs in the fourth segment, he continued to pull them all to the gate, where he actively participated more in taking the enemies down as opposed to defending. This allowed them to dispose of the pack of wolves swiftly, as well as the two snow golems that had been stationed in front of the last gate.

Eijun did try to cast a few heals from Rejuvenation since Miyuki ended up taking quite a few hits. Even if it didn't do much, he hoped it helped a little to negate some of the damage he received.

Miyuki was still required to pull out a potion as they continued on. Though to be fair, he had to have been swarmed by at least fifty or so creatures, it made sense he would need to replenish his health after all of that.

The path was supposed to lead them to a fork that would reunite them with group one. From there, they could progress through the rest of the raid together.

As soon as the other group came into view from behind some large, jagged rocks, Kuramochi openly laughed, "Happy farming!" Which earned him a few glares, choice words, and/or middle fingers.  

Yuuki was wholly unbothered, and poor Yui appeared rather frazzled, but otherwise unharmed. Eijun wouldn't be surprised if Azuma and Isashiki attempted to rush them through, which Yuuki wouldn't have allowed even at the cost of losing. Especially not when they had a novice tank; someone they were supposed to be showing the ropes to, just in case the worst were to happen, and Miyuki was unable to participate in future raids. Ever since Chris' major injury, they haven't had a backup tank available. Or, so Eijun had been told. Apparently, the vetting process Seido executed for new tank recruits was drastically more stringent compared to the other classes.

No. Don't. The more he spoke, the more her heart shattered in its violent ramming against the inside of her ribcage. Him trying so hard to keep it together was an insight into what his every waking hour had been like ever since this injury. That sick feeling was steadily, uglily morphing into anger and filling the growing abyss in the pit of her stomach.

How many players had willingly broken themselves to shoulder the weight of expectation in the three years she'd been a manager? How many throughout the club's existence? Her mother's voice rang through her memories, how hearing a Russian accent still made her stand up straighter long after she'd retired from dance.

Calm down. Sawamura-kun needed her - anyone - to be strong for him and not the other way around now more than ever. With a tight breath, Alice steeled herself for the both of them and held his handsome, panicked face in her hands. "Eijun. Stop." Gentler than she'd ever been with him before, Alice gingerly rubbed her thumbs over his cheeks, holding his sunset colored gaze. "Don't force yourself to smile. Not with me." And she refused to let go until her words had sunk in.

Upon releasing his face, her hand naturally found his, holding onto it tightly and safely. "Stay with me for a little bit, yeah?" Years of working as a tutor to little ones (and then to not so little ones) came with the habit of immediately notifying parents of any change in plan. Fury threatens to boil over at the thought of him being alone in his pain. Again. How the adults supposed to keep him safe and guide him through difficulties did nothing when he had yips. She can't imagine things have changed in less than a year.

Coach Kataoka, this is Sakurazuka. I ran into Sawamura-kun at the stadium. He's with me. With a minute twitch of her eyebrows, she kept herself from adding something decidely not courteous and sent the message, sliding her phone back into her skirt's pocket. The antagonistic part of her wondered if he'd even notice his ace gone. Sure, the team was actively playing, but with Sawamura-kun being the loudest voice in the stadium, she couldn't imagine them not noticing his absence... Furuya-kun is on the mound, though. That same voice in her head reminded her, dripping with venom.

Mentally shaking those thoughts away, Alice brought her focus back onto what mattered, the sight of him instantly pushing away the bitter feelings she had towards gross mishandlings of the past. There was one happening right now, after all. "When was it...?" How long had he been holding on for dear life to try and keep himself whole?

Furuya was more than a reliable pitcher, self-assured in the way he looked back at Eijun with a sharp nod despite the ace's light-hearted jabs. Though Eijun's movements were limited, he put all his might into his voice to encourage the fielders. With a wild grin, he pressed himself against the bar separating the dugout from the field, pointing with his right hand at each player to acknowledge their strengths. Despite that, the atmosphere still felt somber. No one stopped him from shouting ridiculous phrases and boasts until he was breathless. It was only when he fell quiet to watch the first pitch that the coach ordered him to check up on his arm.

The pain emitting from his elbow had never felt worse. His emotions welled up, threatening to spill over when he thought back to what the doctor had told him. It took significant effort to will it away and keep morale up for himself and the rest of the team. But they all knew. Out of respect, no one accompanied him to the training room. He could only handle so much pressure until he inevitably broke down.

But he wouldn't—couldn't—give in to despair. The injury he sustained already promised to take so much from him. If he fell back to the sorry state the yips had once left him in, it could mean the end of his career before it even began. He forewent the ice provided and went straight for the painkillers, gritting his teeth past the rough swig of water. He would march back out there as soon as he could and cheer his heart out. It's what he needed to do and what the team would want from him. He set on that path with determination, only to falter when he saw her.

"Sa-Sa-Sakura-senpai! You're here?!" Eijun couldn't remember anyone mentioning that she would watch them play; however, he hadn't checked his notifications these past few days. It didn't stop him from lifting his right arm to gently receive her hug, terribly mindful of his injury. "What's our ex-manager sneaking around here for? You can get in big trouble if you're caught, you know!"

He attempted to smile when he faced her worry, knowing full well how much she cared. Because of that, he didn't want to upset her more than his appearance already had. "Oh, this thing? It's just a sprain I got from practice the other day." As an athlete, it was bound to happen eventually, right? He glanced down at his arm, cradled by the sling. A bitterness soured his throat as he added, "Unfortunately, I won't be pitching today. But the doctor told us that I'll be back out there soon enough!"

so you made him lunch

carlos couldn’t help but laugh because he’s never seen narumiya like that

“what’s this? getting all shy and shit?” carlos chortled

“shut up, carlos. i’m not shy” narumiya said and furrowed his eyebrows

you laugh and give the bento to him, kissing his cheek. “that’s what you get for not eating enough”

before you guys part ways for class, he gives you a swift peck and whispers a thank you in your ear

“i owe you,” he adds and leaves

carlos is just teasing him still LOL

todoroki raichi:

it’s easy to get him flustered
