Summary: You meet your old high school crush and can't help but tell Vincent about it. But he's certainly not happy to hear this story.

“Imagine my surprise when I found out it was him! He changed so much throughout the years. He was never the type to wear suits.”

You were laughing, excited that someone from your years in high school showed up in your life again. It was a nice surprise; you used to be on good terms with him, maybe even had a crush that stayed with you in the back of your mind. And now you were working in the same office building, so the two of you were already making plans to have lunch together in the following days.

“He’s been working there for almost as long as I do. How is it that we haven’t met yet? What are the chances?” you asked your boyfriend before taking another bite of your dinner.

But Vincent remained silent, his jaw tightening as you kept talking about your old friend. It took you some minutes to finally realize he didn’t want to hear about any of this. You shut your mouth the moment it dawned on you, and bit on your lower lip as you looked down at your plate guiltily, as if you had done something wrong.

“Are you done?” he asked with a frown, and after a few moments of thinking, you nodded. “I haven’t seen you this excited about a friend before, love. Or was he more than just a friend? Do I have a reason to worry?”

You gulped loudly upon hearing his question. He could see right through you as always, he knew about your crush without you saying anything about it. Too bad that to him it didn’t matter if you still had any feelings for that guy or not. You once had and that was enough for him to get mad at you.

Because he was mad, you knew that. It wasn’t jealousy, it was pure anger that he felt times like this. Every time a guy looked at you the wrong way, every time you dared to be nice to another man, Vincent got angry and took it out on you.

Of course, he would never hit you. Sure, he would spank you, maybe even choke you a little, but all of this would happen in the safety of your bedroom. He would never seriously think about hurting you, he loved you too much for that.

Or so you thought.

Now there was a glint in his green eyes, something you had never seen before. It was pure rage, fueled by your story about this old flame. “He’s just a friend, I promise,” you tried weakly, but despite being sure you loved only him, your thin voice made even you question if it was true.

He suddenly put down his fork and knife, took a sip of his wine–his eyes never leaving yours–then stood up and extended his hand to help you up. With your legs already shaking, you took his hand and stood up as well. For the first time in a while, you had absolutely no idea what he was about to do. Was it really that bad that you were so excited about meeting an old friend?

His fingers wrapped around yours tightly enough to make you bite the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from crying out loud. You followed him across the rooms obediently, not asking him what he was planning to do now.

Once you stepped inside the bedroom, he slammed in the door and pulled you into a hungry, demanding kiss. You tried to push him away a little to breathe, but he only put his hand on the base of your skull and pulled you even closer. This was a first; he had never been this aggressive before, but now he seemed desperate to show you who you belonged to.

His hands were quick to remove your clothes when he finally let you breathe, fingers exploring every single curve of your body as if he had never seen you naked before. Then they moved between your legs, expert fingers slipping between your folds which drew a pathetic moan out of you, making you weak in the knees.

“Who do you belong to, hm?” he asked you before kissing you again. “Tell me, love, do you remember where you belong?”

“I belong to you,” you replied weakly as you put your hands on his chest to steady yourself. His fingers curled inside you, hitting just the right spot, and it was hard to keep yourself together by now. “I’m so sorry,” you added.

While his fingers were pumping at a steady pace, chasing you towards your first high, Vincent looked you in the eye and tilted his head to the side a little. “Good girl. Never forget this,” he warned you darkly.

Your first orgasm made you collapse into his arms, but he didn't seem to mind, it only made him more determined to overstimulate you. By now you knew what this was all about. He wanted to mark his territory, showing you how good he was for you, how perfectly you fit together.

Jealous Vincent wasn't new. He was rough and focused on his own needs, using you as a simple fleshlight. But territorial Vincent was someone you hadn't met before. He wasn't controlled by his anger; he was driven by something else, as if he was desperately trying to prove to you that he was the only one who had a place in your heart.

It wasn't unusual for him to focus on your needs, but this was different. You couldn't quite put a finger on what the difference was, but you could feel it in your bones that something wasn't the same.

He kept calling you a good girl, telling you how badly he needed you, how you belonged to him, and how the two of you were brought together by fate. He was almost too sentimental, something he barely was with you. If you didn't know any better, you would have assumed he was worried about losing you.

“What's wrong?” you asked when you were lying in bed with you resting your chin on his chest as you looked up at him.

But he remained silent, the only reaction was the way his grip on your hip tightened. Just when you were about to give up, he suddenly spoke up. “I want you to keep your distance with him. Lunches on weekdays are okay, but I don't want you to meet outside of that building. Can you promise me that?”

You thought about it, but it was a fair request. So you nodded, agreeing while also hoping for a change of his heart in the future. If that was enough to make him feel better, you were willing to do it for now. After all, you didn't want to ruin your engagement so soon.

T h i n g, and jon's vocal on it, specifically the original vanilla man alive album version, is 99% why. if I'm ever not deeply and cripplingly obsessed with the stupid artful nuance and deliberate decisions he makes flipping back and forth between chest voice and head voice/falsetto on this track then you will know it is because I have been taken over by body snatchers. (he doesn't quiiitte do it like this anymore though because he's a Different Performer Now and i respect that things have changed and i'm alo--) but like any and every version that exists he sings "walking hope" slightly differently and every single time it makes me want to SCREAM

on that note: i'm also going to pick Desire. I think, of his Big Loud Yelling Songs, in his classic jonathan milieu of "i'm going to sing as high and loud as i possibly can because I think it sounds fucking cool," that Desire like,, exemplifies the successful execution of that as a concept. and he sounds so fucking good and I love the shit out of it. and obviously it's not sustainable at length live, and i definitely never saw him do it live as well as he hits it on the album in the 3 afd tour shows i caught, but man. can I tELL YOU THAT I'M EEEMMMPTTYYYYY

what C said about software greatman is genuinely how I Also Feel about software greatman it's just such a fucking good tune and all the choices he's making are so good and it does feel like a bit disingenuous because a lot of what Makes It is the production side but it's also. fucking good. as much as I think AFD wins best overall there are some CHOICE little moments scattered all across RDF that are stellar on their ownnnn and if jennifer on the album hit half as hard as jennifer live does it would be appearing on this list as well for sure

The Beast Below & Kill The Moon as Foils

The interesting thing to me about The Beast Below and Kill the Moon as episodes is that they operate on a very similar concept: there is a living (very BIG) thing that functions as the only thing that keeps large swathes of humanity safe/alive and they both end with a bit of a cop-out where that Thing stays right where it is but how the themes of those episodes are WILDLY different based on how the Doctor&Companiok interactions play out.

The Beast Below is an exploration of how the Doctor does what is necessary, what he thinks is right and kindest to the most number of people, but that sometimes he is wrong, incredibly wrong, and that it is very essential for him to listen to his companions, to give them a choice, and also that at the end of the day, the Doctor is the Star Whale, he is lonely and pained and kind, that this is the ethos of the show: the Doctor is kind but he really needs to be stopped and reminded of it sometimes (really great parallels with the end of the Runaway Bride/Fires of Pompeii, in a way).

But Kill the Moon is all about how the Doctor is right. How he will always be right. That he knows better than his companions, that he always holds all the cards, that he is cruel to teenage girls and tells them they're not special and knew all along what was going to happen but didn't tell his companion just to see what she would do, but her decision didn't matter at the end of the day, not to him, not to the problem at hand, because the Doctor knows everything and is right and God, disregarding the other major problems with this episode it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth in comparison to the Beast Below. That in this episode, the Doctor is not a god that needs to be reminded of his humanity but a god that is cruel and all-knowing and somehow right in that. I've talked about how the Beast Below embodies the ethos of Doctor Who to me; Kill the Moon, at least in how the Doctor acts, feels like the opposite.

I'll never be over the fact that being batman it GYAHHHH! so when bruce becomes batman and makes his vow to get justice for gotham, to make it so that no one else has to experience the devastation and loss he did the night he lost his parents- being batman means well his job, his mission requires overexposure to death crime and tragedy in order for him to prevent it, and like yeah he never truly ever left crime alley, but that wound is constantly being ripped open. Every person, every ally, every one of HIS KIDS especially that he loses in pursuit of this mission makes the injury new and fresh and red.

this isn't news of course but everytime it hits me that because batman is built on grief he's destined to do it forever I just ☹️☹️

SCP#: AHF

Code Name: The Trial of the Seven Rings of Hell

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All entrances to SCP-AHF have been sealed off with any records of them existing found and erased. Foundation guards disguised as patrol police have been placed around these areas to prevent civilians or even hostile Groups of Interest from reopening them. Testing with SCP-AHF have unfortunately proven impossible as AFA-1 or even AFA-2 units going in don't show any of its effects, drones show no different reactions. Foundation staff can't enter either as death is a 90% certainty. D Class should NEVER be sent into SCP-AHF due to the chance of them becoming an SCP-AHF-Alchemist instance. With testing being impossible, the Foundation will guard SCP-AHF and nothing else.

The only recorded living SCP-AHF-Alchemist instance has been captured by the Global Occult Coalition and regularly works with them with them as both a Researcher and a Doctor. She occasionally works with the Horizon Initiative as well in an effort to strengthen the ties between the groups. She seems to be treated well and is allowed to continue to stay connected with her friends and family. As such the Foundation will not implement Protocol "United Hands".

Description: SCP-AHF is a section of the Catacombs of Paris that is normally restricted by the French Government. The reason they do this is by the order of the Foundation and the Horizon Initiative, due to SCP-AHF's anomalous properties. SCP-AHF is a pocket dimension meant to be a representation of the seven rings of hell on earth. When someone enterers the only way to get back out is to go through the seven rings and survive. The best way to survive is to confess all grave sins committed by all those within SCP-AHF. Failure to confess to any grave sin that has been committed will result in either a quick or slow and extremely painful death. It is also assumed that when someone dies within SCP-AHF without confessing their sins they will be sent to the actual hell. It's unknown if one can be sent to heaven if confessing their sins yet still dying within SCP-AHF but such a thing cannot be testing by current Foundation standards and for obvious reasons is not worth the risk. 

SCP-AHF also contains a test within that allows someone to gain the power of the Philosopher Stone. The Philosopher Stone, for those that don't know, is a mythical crystal that's said to be the ultimate epidemy of all magic and alchemy. With the Philosopher Stone one can turn any item into a different item of equal chemical value, be able to heal any wound and even extend lifespan with little to no consequences, as well as be able to perform Thaumaturgic rituals without the need for a sacrifice, medium, or even need to prepare a ritual first. 

SCP-AHF offers a trial to collect the power of the stone, passing this test results in a person becoming an SCP-AHF-Alchemist. SCP-AHF-Alchemist is a person who passed the test and as a result has become an anomalous humanoid with the powers of the Philosopher Stone. This naturally means the person can now live as long as they like, perform alchemy and any thaumaturgic ritual instantly, and even heal others with a touch. The only known person to become a SCP-AHF-Alchemist instance is [data expunged] she is still alive but refuses to tell anyone how to repeat the process to pass the trial. Perhaps that is for the best. 

SCP-AHF was discovered in 2014 when three survivors of SCP-AHF suddenly came out form a manhole in the middle of [data expunged] road of Paris. Global Occult Coalition Agents were closest and investigated for any possible anomalous creatures. Instead, they were able to quickly find SCP-AHF-Alchemist but instead of killing her they recruited her and her fellow survivors. It should be noted the Global Occult Coalition is willing to show mercy to some anomalies in the same way the Foundation is willing to be lenient and provide freedom to the anomalies it has contained. However, the GOC prefers to do this for anomalous humanoids that can 100% pass as a human physically. 

SCP-AHF-Alchemist now works for the GOC begrudgingly as she was told the only alternative was termination. Though since SCP-AHF is an anomaly related to Abrahamic religion the GOC has agreed to let SCP-AHF-Alchemist be studied by the Horizon Initiative and by extent the Foundation for limited degrees. This has greatly lightened her mood especially knowing there's a whole world out there filled with other anomalous items. From the limited interaction the Foundation has had, SCP-AHF-Alchemist desires only to find the truth of the world and now that she is exposed to the anomalous world, she can see bits of it as time goes on.

The Horizon Initiative and shockingly even the Eight Wings of Mekhane have tried to make pleas to the ACPA court to have custody of SCP-AHF. It seems the Eight Wings of Mekhane consider the Philosopher's Stone to be a holy item and quite possibly another fragment of Mekhane so naturally they view SCP-AHF-Alchemist as a messiah. Despite still wanting to study her the O5 Council and Ethics Committee has agreed to not interfere with the custody battle over SCP-AHF-Alchemist as it will only bring her more distress and that will not work in the Foundation's favor in the long run. Instead, it's best to merely maintain a distant but friendly relationship with SCP-AHF-Alchemist and whichever organization she ends up with, if not the GOC.
