Rooted in Tradition: Cultural Significance of Dry Fruits During Festivals
Festivals in India are all about vibrant culture, tradition, and finally, the bonding of people. They are normally marked by gift exchanging, feasting, and cooking delicious sweets and savouries. Among the various delicacies that assume a conspicuous position on such special occasions, dry fruits play an important role. From roasted almonds and salted pistachios to kishmish and flavoured fox nuts, dragees, dry fruits complete the sentence of cultural and culinary traditions for India and hence symbolise prosperity, health, and goodwill.
The Cultural Significance of Dry Fruits
Dried fruits are not only tasty and healthy; they are also full of cultural meaning. Dried fruits like akhrot, pecan nuts, and hazelnuts represent prosperity and good luck in one’s life from all auspicious occasions such as Diwali, Holi, and Eid in Indian culture. Premium dry fruits are being gifted to family members to pass on good wishes for wealth, health, and happiness.
History says that gifting mix dry fruits during festivals is a century-old tradition. In ancient times, dry fruits were taken as a luxury and usually given to the nobles and royals. Possessing a long shelf life, they could be carried over distances without damage easily, becoming such a precious commodity. Today, the tradition continues in an assortment of dry fruits, which is a much sought-after item of gifting during festivals.
The Role of Dry Fruits in Festival Rituals
Dry fruits have been an inseparable part of festivals since time eternal and are considered a sign of good health, prosperity, and joy. From Diwali and Eid to Christmas, dry fruits are not only given as prasad but are equally distributed and shared with near and dear ones as a gesture of giving and sharing abundance. Companies like Spinuts redefine this tradition with their premium range of dry fruits, from the classic best almonds and cashews to the exotic varieties such as Jamaican jerk cashews and bubblegum-flavored kishmish.
For example, during Diwali, exquisitely packaged dry fruits from Spinuts unfold as the perfect gifts, sharing in the festive spirit with their rich taste and noble presentation. On Eid, their offerings are luxuriously relished after a day of fasting, while during Christmas, they add a delightful twist to traditional holiday feasts. It is through this artisanal approach that Spinuts ensures these dry fruits uphold tradition but also embellish modern-day celebrations with a touch of luxury.
Dry Fruits as a Symbol of a Healthy and Well Body
Dry fruits have long symbolized great health and vitality due to the reflection of a nutrition-rich body. The Evolution of Dry Fruits in Modern Celebrations
Evolution in modern celebrations states that dry fruits have evolved as much from age-old and time-tested ways as through innovation. Though on many platters, the classic dry fruits like akhrot and kishmish are there, some exotic varieties and flavors have come to rule the modern palate. The ease of online availability opened up options from sugar-coated dragees to uniquely flavored nuts. Spinuts optimizes this tradition with their high-quality, artisan flavored dry fruits, flavored cashews, and even bubblegum-flavored kishmish. As predicted. 3 hours meeting ended up with me being chosen to work on eid day while everyone is celebrating with their family at home. (If that means more money then it's alright, I guess?) With the same excuse as last year "I see you're still not married. So, I signed you to work on Eid."
Sometimes, I love my job. I've got to order celebs around and told them what to do in front of the camera then throwing snarky remarks on their bitchy assistants. But when it comes to reporting live news and writing scripts... My mind automatically telling me to quit 🤷

Apr 13, 2020,
While most of the Bollywood celebrities are enjoying their much-needed free time at home with their family and loved ones amid the coronavirus lockdown, Salman Khan is busy working from home. The actor is currently self-quarantined at his Panvel farmhouse, away from his family in Mumbai owing to the 21-days lockdown. According to our sources, Salman Khan is making the most of quarantine free time by looking at footage of his upcoming film, ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’. Most of the film has already been shot, except for the climax scene which is pending.
Salman Khan is also looking at various scripts which include the next instalment of his popular ‘Tiger’ franchise. Although Salman has announced ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’ as his next after ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’, reports were rife recently that the entire script of ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’ is being re-written and there might be a delay in the film.
Meanwhile, Salman will be seen reuniting with his ‘Bharat’ co-star Disha Patani for ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’. Apart from the two, the movie also features Randeep Hooda, Jackie Shroff and others in pivotal roles. Directed by Prabhudheva, the film is slated to hit the theatres on the occasion of Eid this year. Like many other Bollywood celebs, Salman Khan has also been taking to his social media handles to interact, entertain and advice his fans during this coronavirus pandemic.
