What's so fun about BruJay as a ship is Jason's sheer obsessive devotion to Bruce. Jason is possessive over Bruce, to the point he doesn't care about the deaths of others so long as he has Bruce's attention. A part of the UTRH arc this isn't talked about enough is that Bludhaven fucking explodes mid-way and Jason won't let Bruce see if Dick is alive.
batman (1940) #650
A lot of discussion about UTRH paints Jason as this anger-driven cold, calculating machine up against Bruce when it's so clear that his love for Bruce is what drives him at his root, even if he won't acknowledge it. He says it himself, he would've done anything if it was Bruce who'd died instead of him and his anger is rooted in that possessive devotion not being reciprocated.
batman (194) #650
BruJay as a ship always to be, to some level, unrequited. Even if Bruce loves Jason back in that way, he'll never be that obsessed with Jason. Jason will always view Bruce's love for Dick or Tim to be a distraction, proof that Bruce isn't dedicated enough to him. Jason has the need to always have Bruce's attention, even when it could come at the cost of Bruce's other loved ones. Something something cannibalism as a metaphor for love in how Jason wants to consume Bruce's whole existence. He can't let Bruce leave him again, can't let Bruce love or grieve anyone else. Forcing Bruce to choose between Jason and the Joker isn't just about confronting Jason's killer, it's about confronting the other person who exists as this duality with Bruce and consumes so much of Bruce's life. That's the role Jason wants to fill, calling himself Red Hood and forcing Bruce to look at what he's become. But still loving Bruce and wanting more than anything for Bruce to reciprocate that love in the way that Jason understands. I just think it's good soup and rife with Dynamics that are underexplored with them.

I have seen you talking about Dick & Dami's relationship and Dick & Tim as well, but what are your takes on Dick and Jason actually?
Like how you wish their relationship should be portrayed today and where are them missing when it comes to making those two acting like siblings?
Do you think in the past their dynamic was better?
How Dick views Jason and how Jason views Dick?
This is difficult to answer because there are like 8 different stages to Dick and Jason's relationship with various dynamics. They also view each other a bit differently depending on which stage we're talking about.
The way I would like their relationship to be portrayed today isn’t necessarily possible thanks to Jason’s integration into the family and acceptance of the no killing moral code. For me, their ideal dynamic is portrayed in Outsiders #44-46. And I know people are gonna find that regressive as hell but, tbh, that dynamic is far more interesting than the kinda awkward thing they have going on now.
Although, I don't mind that they acknowledge their brotherhood in a serious manner now. Like before they'd kinda be like, "Eh... I mean... we were adopted from the same guy but... brothers? Eh..." And now they're more firmly in the, "We're brothers," camp. So that development is interesting.
Character progression wise, it wouldn't feel right for for them to be super close in the way that, say, Dick and Tim are (unless we saw a lot of trust and relationship building between them), but at the same time, there is part of me that kind of wants them to have that older sibling bond (except Jason is closer in age to Tim than he is to Dick sooo actually let's just leave older sibling things to Dick and Cass... not that Cass is much older than Jason though so LOL this is why Dick has to lone the oldest sibling thing by himself... which is funny because Dick is technically no longer the oldest sibling, he's a baby brother now... except Dick and Melinda's relationship really hasn't progressed much sooo you could say they share blood but don't consider each other family yet, in which case, Dick is still the oldest... I mean, regardless, Dick is the oldest sibling of the Waynes... god why did they have to make all of this so difficult 😫).

they’re sooo dramatic. and i was seeing more of a balance this time compared to other times that were just kicking his ass before when there was delays like this time lots of people going well we should be grateful he even wants to make content still. so that was good but yeah people were saying none of them give a fuck anymore and stuff like idk there’s just no empathy there and it’s so dramatic. sure i find it a little frustrating to post about that game like it’s something for us to look forward to because it’s not content but 🤷🏻♀️ i would love for them to not cater to only irl fans and i think just streaming for like literally an hour every two weeks would calm people down so people don’t keep getting heated but it is what it is. i feel bad over his computer that has to be so frustrating
i think a lot of people (reddit included) have finally understood the insane scope of the project and are now more understanding as to why it's taken so long bc I def saw a lot of comments that were saying that obviously it's not dreams fault (duh) and that he has been working hard so I hope he at least sees those if he does check the reddit-which, lets be honest, I'm sure he will

have you uncovered any secret meanings in sumpin’s a mess out west bc this song haunts my conscience?
ah yes, one of the sumpin's! very, very loosely it's a "bad things happen" song, or slightly more specifically an ominous things happen, but to get even more specific. its main chunk of uses is, unsurprisingly, in the crick arc of campaign 1, being these:
21 - Realizing something's not right in the West Crick as they arrive
22 - Peering out into the fog after the Froghemoth fight
26 - Beverly alone in the fog when they are all split up
28 - Marabelle implies Moonshine is her daughter
29 - Marabelle charms the crick rotted party members
and it specifically comes back for moonshine/marabelle's section of the split hell episodes: for describing anger and moonshine noticing marabelle's spores in 80, and for moonshine entering "marabelle"'s cave in 81.
outside of that it's used a few other times in c1-- arriving at the monster hunter (cran)'s cabin in ep 47, discussing the way to the shadowfell (and not having a way back) in 58, and handy andy investigating the montgomery's dining room in 64.
and then it gets a few c2 uses-- the top of the watchtower with the zombie birds in ep1, and then the spider moving around in the night in ep16/the spider's cave in 17-- and essentially one c3 use (at least that's credited)-- for the ruins of prince periwinkle's fort in 19.
immediately, there's a strong connection between this song and marabelle. her corrupting fog, her network, her spores, and interestingly her charm/connection to the party members-- saying moonshine is her daughter, charming them.
in a broader context though, i think the use of it is very consistent-- when it comes in, you already know about the threat (unlike, for example, unknown tome, which tends to come in As a threat is revealed), but the party is not quite confronted with it yet (unlike, for example, into the fire or snake skirmish, both of which are often the introduction to combat). it's, well, specifically meant to haunt your conscience, like you said!
in, perhaps, a kinder read on an unsettling song, sumpin's a mess out west is a warning!
the boobs know that the crick is in danger, they know that marabelle is the cause-- sumpin's a mess is them actually seeing marabelle's corruption and the danger she poses. or, moonshine realizing that marabelle is who she'll have to face in hell. or, arriving at this monster hunter's cabin, with no sign of a monster hunter, knowing they're nearby. or, handy andy discovering a body pinned to the ceiling of the montgomery's dining room. the top of a watchtower with a guard dead outside, just before the bell tolls to animate the ravens. prince periwinkle's ruined fort, destroyed by the silver serpent.
it's like... there's danger lurking nearby. you know it's there. what you don't know is where or how or when you're actually going to encounter it, or in a lot of case the scale of what you're facing. but you're going to find out :) just give it time :)
