What if the rings were in the movie canon?

The first meeting of Sonic was really when the Doctor’s heartbeat becomes irregular. The spike was so drastic, Stone was already running to the house to check on him not even bothering to chase the man and hedgehog.

Stone being able to sense the doctor’s exhilaration when he was zipping across the planet after Sonic, the frustration at the town, the rage at losing, and the fear at exile all through his fluctuating heart rate.

Stone feeling Robotnik’s heart beat while he’s on the mushroom planet. A constant reminder that he is alive but also oh so far away. Every spike and dip sending waves of anxiety. Constantly reminding him if something were to happen to Robotnik on that planet he could do nothing to save him. Both a blessing and a curse.

Stone feeling the electricity and power that crackles through the rings as Robotnik takes the emerald. His heart beating too rapidly for a human as he travels next to his agent in a matter of milliseconds.

Stone pulling himself out of the rubble of the Death Egg silently praying that Robotnik is alive despite not feeling the doctor’s pulse against his finger because it is too faint after the fall. Still digging through the burning mental for him anyway. Desperate to feel that rhythm against his finger again.

The constant reassuring beat as Robotnik heals. Finally a domestic lifestyle where his heartbeat only spikes due to the drama in his telenovellas or because Stone rode his motorbike too fast.

The complete stillness from the cold ring as Robotnik’s final word echo in Stone’s ears.
