Big words coming from someone who had become so physically fragile, but it's adorable that Vox still acts like he's some kind of threat. That's not to say the once-overlord has become useless, though. Vox is still sharp. Being broken didn't take away his cunning or his cut-throat nature. Vox might have lost some power, but he's still his.

And no one's taking what's his away.

It wasn't often that any of the Overlords wanted to talk to Lucifer, considering that he was pretty hands off. He was the highest authority, the most powerful creature in the realm, and thus he was at the top of the food chain, but still. The Overlords seemed to have their own shit fairly handled, and Lucifer just kind of ignored them. He hadn't attended an Overlord meeting since the 1800s.

And yet here he was, preparing for a meeting with at least one, and he was already a bit cranky over it. What could they possibly want? He hated having to talk to people, but he knew that if he tried putting it off, he'd be pestered tenfold. Best to get it over with and then get back to his own activities.

As the elevator dinged once he reached the desired floor, the doors sliding open, he took a moment to readjust his tie before stepping out, tapping his cane onto the floor as he walked before finding the room in question. Once the door was opened, he simply gazed at the other with a slightly raised eyebrow.

"Vox, was it?" Strange name, this one. But a lot of Sinners had weird names after coming to Hell.

Upon his eyes, dwelled a look of unease with Vox. Yes, he’s not so powerful anymore, his soul forfeited, and his status crippled. Yet, Roth knew enough to be careful. It was Vox, caution demanded it.

Perhaps, it was what Vox said which made Roth so uncomfortable. Does he know something? Paranoia scratches the inside of his skull, while Roth contemplates it.

Assuming a look of total calm, Roth responds. Besides, he wouldn’t want to be rude.

“Everyone got something to hide. Maybe even, something to hide from themselves.”

The cabbie says as she shrugs his shoulders. He stared up at Vox, wondering how someone so smart lost everything. Must’ve been down to Luck, the cabbie thought.

"Then don't." Philip turns to face Vox with a slight smile. "It's not worth it, not in Night City. One day you do everything to meet the expectations and the next day the same person will put some iron to your head." he says, speaking more from experience than from what's to be expected from people living here. There was a great number of expectations put on Pip in the past, and he fought and struggled to meet them - it didn't take him long to realize that he almost completely lost himself to those expectations. It was difficult to stay sane in Night City as it was, additional pressure would only make things worse.

He takes a step forward, poking the man on his chest with his finger. "Live for yourself. It's probably the best thing you can do here." he points out. Truly, it was difficult to survive otherwise. If you only lived for yourself you didn't have that much to lose and you could live your life however you wanted. Pip was guilty of making connections and each and every one added additional weight onto his shoulders and to his decisions. His death would have some impact, which made surviving with that thought more difficult. The only ones who could truly afford to make connections and relationships were probably those on the top - safe with cyberware and protection unknown to low rats like himself.

"Indeed I am!" she replies in a rather cheerful tone, with the slightest trace of challenge. It wasn't an easy task to get Rebecca flustered and if you weren't careful, any attempt at it would turn against you. It's been a while since she tried any of her tricks for distraction or buying time, but it was unlikely she lost the skill of embarrassing or, well, affecting people in any other way.

She stares the man in front of her up and down, examining him - definitely not someone she recognized. Rebecca wasn't paying much attention to the news these days; corpo rats did not interest her in the slightest, she was done with risky gigs like that. Truth be told, she didn't pick many jobs nowadays to begin with. Adam Smasher might be gone, but the trauma of that day still followed. The news of the legend of Night City passing didn't help her heal, although it was enough to help her ground herself whenever the anxiety got too heavy to bear. The memory of fleeing, so deeply wounded, wasn't her proudest either; she was glad she couldn't remember most of it.

Still, this was no Smasher, she could tell that much. "You don't seem to be too shy yourself." Rebecca rebutted, smirking slightly.

then valentino felt a nip of sharp teeth against his lips.  ❝ oi . . . ❞ valentino purred, shifting his head back just enough to let out a laugh. his tongue dragged against vox's teeth.

            ❝ feisty, are we ? oh, amor . . . don't you know better ? ❞ valentino's voice deepened, those claws in his shoulders pulling hard enough it could draw blood. finally away from the kiss, valentino's face lowered to his neck, happily taking a bite. what else was he supposed to do ? bite a screen ?

   Thankfully, Reagan can be a bit more reasonable, compared to Carmilla who may just look the other way. After all, that woman looked the other way when Reagan had attempted to strike up a business deal with her as well. Those weapons would've come in handy for upgrading her robots, oh well, she'll find another solution.

   His proposition certainly catches her attention as she brings a hand up to tap against her cheek. Seeing as she's practically starting from scratch and spending hours building the things she needs, increased production of materials would help a lot.

   But there's one thing she has to watch for, there's gotta be a catch.

" Alright, you've got my attention. Two things. This is Hell so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some catch, and if there is, what is it? And the other question is how many robots do you need right at this moment? "

   “Straight to the point—I like that!”  He doesn’t; he is much more comfortable with fluffy, flowery bullshit as it is what he has practiced the most.  However, she is not the first Overlord he has worked with who likes to skip inane pleasantries.  Carmine had been the same way, glossing right over any attempts Vox made at buttering her up.  Bitch.

   “But yes, you’re right, I knew that.”  Her robotics company was one of the contracts he had not managed to secure before everything went to shit for him.  He did not know exactly how realistic her robots were, but this is great news, actually.  Voxtek had dabbled a little in robotics, but they hadn’t tried too hard to avoid the uncanny.

   “I’m gonna start a new factory”—the first in his new empire, though he is hoping to obscure that he is starting from damn near scratch.  “Sooo… I get some of your robot workers.”  Which buys him more time until he can get more souls into contracts with him.  “And you get increased production of your chips and parts and stuff!  Eh?”
