Okay lolitas.

I keep seeing gifsets from Peep "TV" Show and I've reblogged a few despite never having seen that movie.

Is it worth a watch? I see that it's on youtube, but I don't have the greatest attention span when it comes to subtitles because I'm a multitasker when watching shows or movies. Is it worth blocking out the time to focus on doing nothing but watching a movie?

The production studio at "Baby, the Stars Shine Bright" featured in an episode of Tokyo Fashion Express. Their designs typically require up to 50 sewing patterns, which is about 5 times as many as the average dress. Detailed notes on measurements and specifications are written for the sewing factory.

The sewing factory is in Ibaraki prefecture. For more than 20 years they've been sewing clothes exclusively for BTSSB. 17 people work there, most of them being veterans age 60 or over. Due to the complexity they work in teams for ironing, sewing lace and ribbons, as well as completing gathers and frills.

The manager of the factory, Sumiko Watahiki, says in an interview: "There's tons of gather, lace, and layering, which requires a lot of sewing. At first, I doubted I could do it! It was that hard. (But) I'm always impressed with the adorable designs when I see the finished products or while I work."

If anyone has recommendations for lolita fashion zines I would love to hear them! 🌸

Got these in the mail today- they’re super cute, but unfortunately very short; especially compared to other lolita zines like Moonbow or JBTK. However the art/photos are really nice imo! I like the concrit essay in the first one too. The first zine has more essays and photos, the second more art and an interview with a jewelry shop owner. I really wish they had more content but hopefully they’ll be able to make future issues longer!

Not only has he done this to multiple lolitas, but to MINORS AS WELL!! He not only involves unconsenting people in the J-fashion community and in general for his creepy foot fetish, but he also involves children as well!!

They've been harassing lolitas in the community for years by taking their photos without their consent, cropping them so it's only their shoes before posting them to his account and sometimes editing his hand onto the photos.

People in the EGL community have taken to Instagram to call this guy out as he has not only harassed them, but taken photos of them without their consent as well. He does not care if he's called out, he enjoys the grief he causes to people!!

Again, report and block this guy, he's disgusting!!

Good-ish News: In light of recent developments (living one historical shitshow after another), im going to be more active on my blogs here again! Boy Princess is a comic I drew last summer about my experience with femininity and fashion (specifically EGL fashion) as a trans guy.

This comic is really special to me, I drew it while attending a workshop on Graphic Memoir comics taught by Mel Gillman at the Center for Cartoon Studies. I don't think I would've been able to make this comic if it weren't for the week-long workshop, and I wouldn't have been able to attend that without the help of CCS' BIPOC Scholarship.

To be frank, if I'd attempted to draw this comic on my own time, I probably would've A) Never finished it or B) Taken a hundred times longer to make it. Even with that, although I planned, drew, and inked this comic within one week, it's still taken me almost one year to edit, color, and format for print as well as design the cover, write transcripts of the pages (which by the way, if anyone has any feedback on what I could improve in my writing please tell me!!!), and write posts for social media.

Why'd it take so long? Because of life I guess! I'm not very good at sharing the work in process either, I'd rather post something when it's completely finished. Maybe I'll get better about that in the future, or maybe I'll just keep posting every 6 months. Either way I'm proud of myself for making this comic, and I'm eternally grateful for the supportive feedback from loved ones as well as instructors and classmates from the workshop!!!

I have copies of Boy Princess available for sale in my shop (as well as copies of Candlebot Comics #1, which has around 30 comics in it, wowza!) I hope you'll consider buying a copy and I hope you enjoy reading it :)

Something that I appreciate in the lolita community is the dedication to cataloging releases. I can't think of another clothing community that does that.

Like I can google "south pole white skull and crossbones hoodie" thinking of a very specific hoodie that I had in middle school, but nobody has documented it. It's lost to time, unless it's miraculously found in a thrift store.

I can search "2010 hot topic Cheshire cat Tim Burton tshirt" thinking of a specific shirt I had in highschool. Nothing. It's gone forever.

This concept is really very sad to me.

Misako Aoki will appear in the upcoming lolita fashion romance movie "Happiness" to be released May 17th 2024!

Similar to the production of "Kamikaze Girls" it's a film adaptation of a manga adaptation, originally based on the novel written by the same author: Nobara Takemoto. It seems like the featured brand will be Innocent World this time. I'm looking forward to it!!

Style Preferences I tend to send wildly different letters. I specialize in “themed” letters, though. I love to decorate pertaining to certain things- Seasons, media that I and my penpal like, or even focusing on specific colors and color palettes. No worries! Here are some suggestions:

-tell your penpal about how your week has been, and your future plans. Are you working on any creative projects? Do you have pets? Are you celebrating a holiday soon? Make sure to respond to your penpal’s previous letter, and give them some questions or conversation starters to respond to as well.

-swap suggestions for books, movies, music, TV shows, or other media you both like. You can agree to read/watch the same thing and exchange thoughts on it! (If you both like cooking or baking, exchange recipes, musicians can exchange sheet music, etc)

-write a story or draw/color a picture together.

-swap ideas for meetups or coords. What are your dream dresses? What got you into lolita fashion? (You can even try remote twinning!)

-if you both are interested in secret codes or learning a foreign language, you can exchange codes, vocab words, or try writing letters in a different language!

Other things to put in letters:

You can decorate letters with drawings, stickers, washi tape, wax seals, etc. and include things like more stickers/tape, ribbons/lace, your art/short stories/fiber arts, pressed flowers, recipes, tea bags, friendship bracelets, bookmarks, seed packets, news articles, origami, temporary tattoos, crosswords/sudoku puzzles, pins, candy, photographs, and more! You can also send postcards from places you visit.

Em stared at her laptop screen, glaring at her bank balance and imagining that maybe if she stared at it hard enough it’d jump up four figures. Five would be even nicer. But no, she was staring at just enough money to cover rent for next month. Fuck.

She wasn’t supposed to be travelling but after Spa she couldn’t say no, she had to do it. She couldn’t take the risk that anything would happen. And Dan was paying for her flights and hotels and most of her food, she barely needed to pay for anything. But her savings hadn’t gone back up since she’d bought that last minute flight to China and this was the result. She was broke and had to work more. It was her own fault, she’d cut back on clients while travelling, content to help Blake and Michael out when they needed something. But that wasn’t payment, it wasn’t her job, and now she was suffering.

The transcription site she freelanced for had some available work so she got stuck in as Dan was at a pre media day event, headphones on as she typed and double checked what she’d written. Every little helped.

Em didn’t realise she’d fallen asleep, but she woke up to Dan shaking her arm, her head on the keyboard. She’d at least submitted her work, but she shot up and glared at Dan.

“Huh? What’s going on?”

“I’m just back, I thought you were coming to the sponsor gala tonight? You able to get ready?”

“Yeah, sure.”

It was easy to smile as she stood on Dan’s arm and listened to weird Russians talk to her. But he kept a solid grasp as she nodded towards Egle Hulkenberg, the two women commiserating silently about being there. All she could think was the wealth in this room could fix all her issues, could pay her rent for a year. Dan would do it if she asked but her pride wouldn’t let her. He was her friend. She couldn’t ask him to do that. So she smiled and nodded and ignored the shiver going up her spine as shots of vodka were handed to her, a polite “cheers” as she took the first one, swapping the rest for water. Finally they could go back and curl up before Dan had to do media day the next morning.

She was up ahead of him, one of her long term clients reaching out with some extra work. The timezone difference from the US meant that she received it after she’d gone to bed so she sat at the desk in Dan’s suite while she got to work. An arm on her shoulder scared her, making her jump.

“What is your problem?!” Dan looked like he’d been stung. “I’m sorry, sorry. Just stressed. That’s all. What’re you up to?”

“Seeing if you were getting ready for the paddock, I’m getting a shower. Want one after me?”

“Yeah, please.”

Before Dan came out she checked her bank balance yet again, wishing there was extra cash in there. The numbers were unchanged, Em swapping her tab back before going to shower. The paddock probably wasn’t where she was going, but she’d be clean and get through this work quicker if she felt better. When she came back out with her hair wrapped up, Dan was at her seat and her bank webpage was up.

“What the fuck Dan? What’re you doing looking at my bank?” The idea that he could see how much stress she was under was humiliating. She’d always been able to look after herself. Always.

“Why haven’t you been paid? We have a contract. I know Blake gets paid the fifteenth and the last, you’re missing two pay cheques. Why didn’t he pay you?”

“What are you talking about?” She tried to calm down, pulling her underwear on and not caring that Dan was watching.

“The amount of work you do, why haven’t you been paid? I thought Blake brought you on staff?”

“I’m a freelancer, Dan. A freelancer who hasn’t worked in four weeks and didn’t have enough savings as it was. I don’t work for you or Blake.” She watched his face change, for the first time in a year not able to read him immediately.

“Emmy…no. Blake was…fuck. You’ve been working with him, working with Michael. You’ve been planning my schedules. Of course you need to be paid.” Dan was genuinely upset, pulling her into a hug and pressing a kiss to her shoulder. “I honestly thought you were. I’m gonna fix it.”

“I don’t want to come in between you and the boys.” It was her biggest fear. That she’d arrive and be friends and her and Dan would stop sleeping together and she’d lose everything. That it would all be broken. She was content to be on the outside if that was what could happen.

“I’ll talk to them. But you’re getting paid for everything you’ve done already. Whatever your rates are, you tell me. And you’re getting extra for not getting paid sooner.”

She held onto Dan, wanting to just stay in that little world of the two of them. Working officially for Dan was terrifying. She was putting all her eggs in his basket. But just maybe this could work out for her.
