I don't like the fact that Tsunami and Glory are princesses by blood. When I started reading this series of books, I thought that they were all not of royal blood. It was surprising to me that Tsunami dreamed of being a princess, and this, surprise, turned out to be true. Why did Webs even take such a big risk by stealing the royal egg (like Hvitur. He stole the egg from the palace, sort of.). That is, do the books seriously want to tell me that among millions of dragons, ONLY DoD were born on the brightest night? Was it necessary to take eggs from such dangerous places? Why didn't Talons of peace just...conceive eggs at the right time? I'm sure that among the 50 dragons there will be two skywings that can mate at the right time.

i don't begrudge stardew for not having a lot of dialogue cuz. yknow. just one guy! no shit he hasn't written several hundred thousand words of dialogue on top of everything else!

however. i wanna introduce krobus to other people... why can't i take villagers down the sewers. sebastian and abigail and linus specifically. why can't i get eight hearts with krobus & then like five six hearts with one of those three & then get a cut scene where i ask krobus if he's okay with me telling specific other people i think wld be chill about him & then i can ask one of them to meet me by the sewer hatch & then krobus gets other friends. visiting him added to their schedule.

also where is he getting the void eggs does he have chickens let him have chickens. let him have chickens!!! secret door behind him n there's a coop back there!!! after he's moved onto the farm he shld bring his chickens (they do not take up coop space because you do not get their eggs) and he shld get to hang out in the coop with them all on rainy days. he sits on the floor n they sit on him.

are you working with the mosquitos again? if so can we hear about them? (i liked your last mosquito talks)

yes, I am. it's been a bit chaotic at the lab (as per usual though). for the past two years the head of my lab has been adding more and more genetically modified lines that we have to upkeep. it got so bad that we were taking care of close to 300 lines at some point. my manager kept asking him to remove lines every weekly meeting, and he would get rid of 2 and add like 12 more. (for context, when I started working there, there were only about 120 lines. 150 lines? something very low.)

well, we nearly lost a very important line that we've been writing a paper on for the past... four years? we've had so many crises though that I just deadpan told my manager at some point, "We can't work any faster or harder. We've tried hiring more people, we've tried new schedules, we've tried everything. The problem is the number of lines, not us. It's just going to keep happening."

When I say we 'lost' the line too, it's not that the line died. Because of the amount of lines we have, we've been relying on self-crossing our experiments. This means rather than screening all 300 lines during the larvae stage for positive lines and then crossing them with the wild type, we've simply hatched them, let whatever hatched mate, take the egg paper they've laid on, and then hatch those egg papers six months later. (With proper storage in a cool chamber, that's as long as the egg papers can last.) However, for specific lines that are sex-linked, the genetic mutations only appear in a percentage of the offspring. The more and more those populations self-cross, the lower that percentage gets. So technically, we had the genetically modified line, except that none were positive for the specific genetic mutation. Whoops!

We've rescued the line (thankfully), but it's worrying. My manager told my boss what happened and he finally decided "oh shit, maybe I should actually listen for once". Anyway, he got rid of like 20 lines we've never used once in the decade we've taken care of them. Also, once this paper is published, we'll be able to condense like 10 different lines into one line.

Other than workplace drama, I'm not sure I have very many updates. i grow to love the little bastards a teeny more all the time. I've had to kill quite a few lately though because the cages are a little warped so they keep trying to worm their way out of the mesh.

oh, did you know that if you vacuum mosquitos right after bloodfeeding them, they can explode? crazy. (I say vacuum, I mean one of those little hand-held ones we use to transport mosquitoes from cage to cage.) also when its cold they get very eepy, so sometimes we put them in the fridge for 15-20 minutes instead of vacuuming them so they wont. yknow. explode when we try to move them.

Honoring Lobrax with the Half-Moon Meal

Lobrax, the scintillating rainbow serpent who created the Sun, Moon, and Stars, is said to have the moon itself for his eye! When the moon is half full he can see everything in our world, so that's why we celebrate his holy breakfast on half-moon days.

Here is a quick FAQ of how to celebrate Lobrax! It is a practice open to anyone.

What is the meal really about?

Lobrax is a representation of unconditional love, but especially unconditionally loving being alive and having physical forms. His mythology is panthiestic - in other words, the scales of Lobrax are the universe itself.

So when we celebrate Lobraxfast, it's all about feeling the love and joy of being alive, and reveling in our physicality! Just by loving life itself we honor Lobrax.

Why breakfast and not some other meal?

The holy breakfast honors not only Lobrax but Aedelia, who helped hatch Lobrax and gave him his very first meal.

You don't have to celebrate Lobraxfast at any specific time of day, but ideally the celebration will be the first time you eat that day. Of course there are no real hard and fast rules and people do what fits with their schedules :)

What kind of things should you eat?

Eggs are really traditional, as well as cheese and bacon. I always try to include eggs in my celebration as a ritual aspect (more below!)

But you can really eat anything you want! The most important part of Lobraxfast is to eat something that you personally really enjoy and that makes you happy. So that can be anything, from a full buffet of fresh cooked breakfast foods, to some leftover cold pizza.

What should you do to prepare?

A very important aspect of Lobrax is as a home and kitchen god. So a lot of people will try to tidy their kitchen, or do something nice like put out a clean tablecloth.

But just remember that the goal is to have a great time eating foods you love and enjoying being alive, and let that guide you! People tend to put on upbeat music, dress in bright and happy colors, put on TV shows they love, or anything that brightens the mood.

Flowers are an important part of Lobrax mythology, especially very colorful and multicolored flowers, so including flowers in your celebration is very traditional.

And although it's a more modern practice, people also sometimes leave offerings for household spirits, especially kitchen spirits, and thank them for being a part of life.

Honoring Half-Moon Sight

One aspect that should always be observed (that in my opinion you need to make it a Lobraxfast instead of a regular meal) is honoring Lobrax's Half-Moon sight.

In Lobrax's mythology, when the moon is dark his eye is closed and he's at a period of rest and reflection. When the moon is full his eye is wide open and he's so full of excitement and energy that he can't even see what's right in front of him.

It's actually when his eye is half-open that he is able to see with total clarity.

As a parable, we can apply this to active gratitude. During this time we should strive to see our lives with clarity and practice loving everything we see.

More traditionally, you should try to avoid imagining what things could become, or pulling things apart with introspection. The goal is to try and see what is around you in the moment and celebrate it.

Usually during Lobraxfast I will take many small moments while cooking and just say to myself, "I love this."

In group settings people sometimes go in a circle and say things they're grateful for.

You could write a hymn, pray from the heart, light a candle, or do anything that expresses the love of being alive.

Lore24 Compilation - January

From the beginning of the year, I felt an interest in doing a writing challenge of some sort, but a NaNoWriMo is a bit of a tall ask considering work schedule and everything. I’d seen people doing the #Dungeon23 challenge, and that was interesting, but outside my area of expertise. And then I found a blog post about #Lore24, and shared it with a friend in a similar situation.

The idea is, that for each day of the year, you write something about a TTRPG setting (or similar), in order to help expand on concepts. Doesn’t need to be exceptionally detailed, but the idea is to work on vague ideas and solidify things for worldbuilding. I chose Matea, a D&D homebrew setting that had been kicking around in my head for a while. A post-apocalyptic world that was previously as advanced, if not more so, than real life 21st century Earth. When the magic sustaining their technology failed, the world fell into ruin and had to rebuild the hard way.

I thought it would be handy to keep every entry compiled in one place, so here are the entries for January. Original posts can be seen on our Mastodon.

1 - Matea, as we encounter it, is a world on the brink of change. What was once a world of technological marvel and magical prowess now finds itself with one of the primary rules of the universe fading. Where both schools of arcane and divine magics helped create a utopia, its wielders struggle to achieve even a fraction of the same skills. If a spell works at all, it is drastically weaker than in history. A worldwide collapse of magitech left the survivors in ruins, unable to adapt.

2 - In the beginning, the Father tried to make the world alone, every attempt failing. The Mother came to him, offering her aid, and so Matea was born. When the first of their creations died, neither could cope, so the Daughter was born to handle the grief and anger. Seeing her good work, the Mother and Father birthed a Sister. Without a domain of her own, she engineered a war to fight against her family; tearing open a rift for devils to pass the barrier and lay waste to creation. Seeing the potential for their work to be undone, the family fought back by creating the angels. The war raged, until the Brother was born to guide a peaceful resolution; quelling the Sister’s rage by suggesting domains she would take over, while he would take the load of the more civil aspects that grew from a progressing society that his elders had not foreseen. The Sister acquiesced, having a duty at last. And so a harmony was established.

3 - Dwarves (name pending) are the progenitor race/species/ancestry (specifically to spite the endless fantasy worlds that start with elves), and are hatched from eggs. Not conventional eggs; more a cocoon of mud and other related materials. They can have a minimum of one parent, and no functional maximum, though after 20, some serious identity issues arise. Prospective parents will start rolling their egg like people do with snow, while performing a ritual of offering to the Father.

4 - Dwarven children are born with a full grown beard, regardless of their future gender presentation. This assists with the development of musculature, though hinders their growth. You can typically tell the age or experience of a dwarf by how worn/damaged their beards are, as they are made of stone. Though some choose to damage their beards personally, for their own reasons, the effects are no less permanent. Some view their beards as a sign of a pact made for their creation.

5 - Elves (name pending) evolved from dwarves when (the story goes) one wished for the ability to fly, being jealous of birds. More long of limb than their traditional counterparts, the elves of Matea are feathered, have the ability to glide until their elder years where they achieve full flight, and prefer to make their nest homes atop the mountain peaks of the world. They still hatch from eggs, but their material choices are less earthy; more grasses and scrub.

6 - Perhaps the hardest hit by the loss of magitech, the Gnomes (name pending) of #Matea seek immortality through their creations, owing to their nature of existence. In their original development, a flaw in the process led to them being primarily formed from sand. This resulted in their lifespan averaging three years before they almost literally fall apart. The Warforged and Autognomes (names pending) are their primary legacies; though they seek further.

7 - Though they do not know it, Tabaxi are among the most powerful beings of #Matea, as they are connected to the universe through some strange magic unknown to others. The first Tabaxi dreamt itself into existence after people began telling made up stories. From there, they dreamt their family into existence, and opened a gate into the realm of the Fey. As they unknowingly created more and more however, their ability to do so dispersed and diluted among each of their number.

8 - During the Family War, the need for frontline forces presented itself to the then-forming nations of the world. Pressed for time, they hurried the process and took shortcuts, incorporating living beings into the mix instead of asking spirits. Thus, Goblins (name pending) were born. With a lower half reminiscent of arachnids and other insects, their quick deployment and ability to traverse a variety of surfaces without issue was key to victory in a number of skirmishes.

9 - Tortles (name pending) once held political sway over the seas and ports of Matea. Unfortunately, during an exceptionally tough harvest year and dire situations, they were discovered to be delicious. Following a terrible, bloody uprising, they are now extinct, remembered only through archaeological evidence and museum pieces.

10 - Tieflings and Aasimar (names pending) are the descendants of the devils and angels left behind after the war, closed off from their home realms. Comparing to their multiversal counterparts however, on the whole, it is tieflings that are respected, and aasimar that are viewed with suspicion. This comes from the direct aftermath of the rift being sealed. Cut off from the influence of the hells, the remaining devils felt remorse (natural or otherwise; scholars don’t know) and vowed to repent for their misdeeds, which carried through to their descendants. Tieflings tend towards contemplation and helpfulness. On the other side, the angels were mournful and angry about the loss of their divine grace, traits that modern aasimar bear. As such, they tend towards fits of rage and melancholy in equal, unpredictable measure.

11 - The world of Matea is in a binary star system. Thaus, the Star of Wonder, and Flaun, the Star of Hope dance around each other in an eternal 3-beat waltz leading religious scholars to point to it as evidence of the Father and Mother’s joint efforts in making the world. The stars eclipse three times during the day, two hours after sunrise, midday, and two hours before sunset. These hours are marked by the religious orders and observed in all variety of different ways.

12 - To contrast the twin suns, Matea has a single moon, which is home to the Elemental Plane of Earth. Once upon a time, spellcasters could simply travel to Pio but with magic fading, the only remaining path is via Sou’dare, the great geyser. Travellers are to bathe themselves in its waters, and perform a specific ritual to activate the latent magic in the spring; firing them towards the moon in a dramatic jetstream of water.

13 - The Elemental Plane of Air has no fixed location, and can be accessed from anywhere in the world. One must be EXTREMELY precise with the incantation however, as the ritual is centered around collecting fruit oils, anointing yourself with it, and setting yourself on fire. A successful ritual will transform your body temporarily and painlessly to ash, to be carried into the planar winds. An unsuccessful ritual just turns your body to ash the painful way.

14 - The path to the Elemental Plane of Fire was once sealed, but is now open to all, though perhaps not the most accessible. Rakhada’s Folly, also referred to as The Fall, created a spiraling crater that intersected with planar boundaries. The journey must be undertaken on foot, to acclimate to the heat over a timeframe of six weeks. Those wishing to expedite their journey must be immune to flame and possess the power of full flight, or face the firestorm at the crater’s centre.

15 - Getting to the Elemental Plane of Water is all about timing, but otherwise simple. It’s merely a little absolutely terrifying. During the Second Step, or the second of the three eclipses per day, the winds at the top of Mt. Sanmaya (the tallest peak on Matea) pick up and become almost unbearably strong. One must align themselves to the correct direction and jump from the mountain, fighting the winds. If successful, they will be blown off the peak, plummeting into the waters below, and transferring the planar boundaries. If unsuccessful, the same thing occurs, but without the transfer, dashing the bodies of prospective adventurers on the rocks among the waves.

16 - Though magic is weakened and fading throughout Matea, the island of Paana-Dûl is abundant with mana crystals, allowing magic to work not only as it used to, but in some cases better. Because of this, the use of magic on the island is reserved exclusively for healing. The crystals feed on the remains of one of the great dragons, Ibu the Profaned, spreading slowly like a fungus, though they are more easily formed nearer the corpse.

17 - The magitech age of Matea kicked off with the discovery of manasteel: metal pulled from the earth with magic, weaving into it and reinforcing its strength. Known for being hard to work with, skilled smiths wasted little time in using it for all manner of inventions. From buildings and bridges, trains and aircraft, even personal devices of all kinds, manasteel was the backbone of a dawning golden age.

18 - At some point during The Fall, the prison island of Dosoga was lost; taken by an impenetrable bank of mist and fog. An entire population of inmates, their guards, and even a number of small villages designed to support the facility, spirited away. There are reports recently of fog that drifts across the oceans, seeming never to settle in one place for long. People have investigated, only to come back, changed in a number of ways. Those that return (as not everyone does) undergo a complete behavioural overhaul. Their personalities become wildly different, they do not respond to their own names, and some seem confused to the point of madness at their own bodies. Information to the reasoning behind this change is lacking, save for a single report that claims that one returning adventurer, declared herself to be a convicted man historically to be executed, and noted as inappropriately touching her own skin.

19 - Historical records state that the last known Warden of Dosoga Penitentiary was infamous for his brutally strict adherence to the law, but fairness in administering the applicable penalties. Inmates were suitably cared for, unless they broke the rules, in which case punishment was swift and hard, though only as to the letter of the law. People of the time saw it as an acceptable alternative to capital punishment, though not much is known about their rehabilitation success.

20 - Though unimportant at the time, the once-small town of Dun has claimed the title of nation capital city, primarily due to its fate during and immediately following The Fall. No one remembers the original name of the settlement, but records show how it got its current name: When the great floating cities began their final, disastrous descent, the town was written off by people in power; declared not worth the time to evacuate. Done for.

21 - What elevates Dun above other towns and villages is that the floating citadel of Silwa’na crashed directly on top. Though obviously devastating for those unable or unwilling to attempt to leave, the survivors inherited a treasure trove of remnants from the citadel, greatly accelerating their rebuilding efforts and post-Fall discovery.

22 - The gods serve several domains, each with their own rituals and rites.

Father: Life, Light, and Nature.

Mother: Arcana, Knowledge, and Order.

Daughter: Death, Grave, Tempest, and Twilight.

Sister: Trickery, War, Blood, and Fate.

Brother: Forge, Peace, and City.

Each is referred to by their title; you would, for example, pray to the Father of Light, or the Daughter of the Tempest. While you could offer a generic prayer and ritual, you would get better results by being specific.

23 - The day of Rakhada’s Folly is remembered as the day when the great citadels fell from the sky, when airships dropped suddenly, when buildings of all kinds collapsed without warning. But all these events are due to a single, common cause: The unweaving of manasteel. The backbone of society, industry, and technology on Matea drained itself of magic, literally unravelling from any shape it had been forged into, ushering in a terrifying new dark age.

24 - Many of the great citadels had the misfortune of falling while over land, resulting in catastrophic injuries and damage. However, the city of Gunsul fell while over the deepest part of the oceans, and sunk to the bottom. People claim that due to this, the inhabitants survived, though altered, and the city became corrupted by the depths. Children are cautioned with tales of the Gunsul Deep Dwellers, who will come and kidnap them for their mischief.

25 - With magic weakened, the people of Matea sometimes turn to alternate sources for power. And while they are also subject to the fundamental rules of the universe, there are those that answer. The One Below is an entity that has been named by various cults as someone or something to serve in return for magical abilities. Many rumours exist about the true identity of The One Below, but none have proved factual to date.

26 - Counter to The One Below, there are also groups dedicated to The Watcher On High, another unidentifiable source of power. Whereas the cults of The One Below are recorded as committing crimes of varying magnitudes, those pledging to The Watcher On High appear at least to be involved with charitable endeavours and community involvement. While not officially sanctioned, many places will turn a blind eye to the actions of Watcher pledges.

27 - The Brightfields, analogous to the Feywild in other parts of the multiverse, is the domain of fanciful creatures of all shapes and sizes, including the Eladrin and Fairies (names pending). Ruling over the land, atop a golden throne of pure majesty is the Bright Lord, Colin McDaniel. Claiming to be from an unknown village known as “New York”, he has made a name with his experience as an “electrician” to introduce a number of ideas to the Brightfolk. But there is a downside…

28 - When night falls in the Brightfields, unpredictable and inconsistent though it be, the land and its inhabitants change, becoming dark reflections. This is The Nowhere Between. The Absent King awakens, and Colin becomes imprisoned, as per his (potentially unwise) pact. Travellers from Matea who find themselves Between at nightfall are also altered to suit the darkness. From palace to ruin, from garden to grave, from throne to cage, from light to dark. Such is The Nowhere Between.

29 - Though the Great Rift is long sealed, there still exists the vestiges of strength in the Northern Reaches, for those brave, reckless, or desperate enough to seek it. Hello :)! Sorry to bother, but i’ve been looking for advice on how to care for pokémon eggs, and then newly hatched pokémon… I saw you two work with pokémon, so I was wondering if you could spare some advice?

If it’s any help, I think it’s a Litleo egg, since my partner’s Pyroar found it. We have it snuggled up with our Pyroar but like. When it hatches, do we have to do extra things to care for it, or will its parent handle that? Do we have to catch it?

First we would like to clarify that we are not any kind of licensed rehab; all advice offered here is strictly non-professional.

So. The good news is, if Pyroar has already taken an interest in caring for the egg, that will make things much easier on you in many regards. You won't have to worry about incubation, and the hatchling should learn things like species-appropriate social skills, play behavior, and fire control from its parent.

However, since it appears Pyroar is a male, you will likely have to take charge of feeding the hatchling. Hatchling feeding schedules are very species-specific, so you will have to have to look up specific care guides. Feeding newborn hatchlings often involves waking up at ungodly hours of the night. Just...be prepared for that.

As for the species: Litleo is a strong possibility, but given that you don't know for sure where the egg came from, it is not a given. Even if Pyroar is the father, Pokémon are more likely to be their mother's species, so you could technically speaking end up with anything in the Field egg group. (Not with equal likelihood, local availability and interspecies dynamics influence what's actually probable, but that is not a formula we're prepared to solve.) If Pyroar is not the father, and it brought home an unrelated egg, then you could end up with anything under the sun.

As for catching it: technically you never have to catch any Pokémon. However, if you want it to be legally yours, you will either need to catch it or have it registered to your trainer ID at the Pokémon Center, and if you decide you are going to rehome it it will be easiest if it has a Pokéball.

Finally: the Pokémon Center is your best friend here. They can assess the egg to determine a likely species, and they have many more resources on egg and hatchling care than we can offer. The hours for your local Center's trainer resource helpdesk should be listed online, and recently some larger Centers have given the option to ask questions by text instead of in person or over the phone.

Vocal Synth Headcanons as of March 2024

I wanna share my new headcanons as they've changed a lot and also I feel like tumblr will either ignore them or appreciate them quietly. These headcanons will include sexuality, romantic attraction, relationships, species, age, etc. <3

Before I get into this, I wanna preface this with how I view the vocal synth world in my head. In this world, vocal synths as we know them, are singers for hire and the engine(s) that they are on are the companies they work for. The companies that made them are their management team. So vocals like Miku and the cryptonloids have large management teams, aka crypton, but vocals made by singular people like independently owned utaus only have one manager. Some singers are just normal human beings, some are robots, some are literal fae, etc. But yea, the premise for all of this is that they are singers for hire.

Hatsune Miku:

A literal robot. Built in with the personality and intelligence of an adult, but marketed as a teen idol to attract more customers. THE singer for hire at Vocaloid. There are multiple Miku's because she is in such high demand. The one I like to think about specifically is an older original V2 model that has been given more modern upgrades throughout the years. She is in a relationship with Gumi. Non-repulsed asexual, but like physically she has no parts for it so (cough cough I did write wireplay gumiku fanfic cough cough). Bi-romantic.

Gumi Meg Poid

Human, around 24. In a relationship with a specific Miku. Is a single mother to Ryuto (Gachapoid). Very busy work schedule, but always tries her best to make time for her kid and her girlfriend. Lesbian. A good cook. Fell in love with Miku after singing with her a lot. Lives just outside the city in a little house with her son. Miku has keys to her house, but they don't live together because Miku is required to live close to the studio. She's a high school drop out because she found Ryuto. In this AU I have split up Megpoid (her product name) into a middle and last name. I do the same with Ryuto. The Poid family lol. (but not gakpoid because I don't have strong enough opinions about him to include him in this au. Maybe they're siblings idk).

Ryuto Gacha Poid

Gumi's son, not biologically. Currently around 7 years old. Kinda sorta half monster/dinosaur thing? Born from an egg (inspired by the light reading I did of the gachapin wikapedia page one night). Gumi saw a box on her way home from school that said something like "please take me home" and assumed it was gonna be like a cat or something. She had planned to take it to a shelter instead of leaving it in the rain. Inside the box was a large off-white egg with green spots. She assumed it was some kind of decoration and was about to walk away when it started to hatch. And out pops a crying little baby boy with little horns and a tail. What the fuck, she can't just leave him there. And thus, she has a kid now. Middle name is Gacha because gumi thought it was silly how she got him sort of like a gacha game. He is able to suppress his monster parts, but they still come out when he's really emotional. Sweet hyperactive baby boy. Probably has AuDHD. Friends with a lot of the other Vsynth Kiddos, but besties with Mo Jin. Lowkey really into hard rock and metal music (because that's what he's good at singing, I will fight people please let him sing more metal).

Hua Mo Jin

(ough my sweetest baby gorl aaaaaa more people should love you like I do. Some of what I'm about to write is canon from her character info on dsound so) Huamn, 6 years old. Surprisingly very tall for her age (I never draw her tall, but canonically she is like the average height of a 9 year old). Lives with her older sister, Hua Mo Ci, who she received her rabbit plush from. The rabbit plush scares everyone around her, but she thinks it's really sweet and takes it everywhere. She does not like hard foods, her favorite food is peony steamed buns. Autistic for sure. Also has albinism. Very quiet and doesn't talk much, but loves to sing. Does not get hired very often. Besties with Ryuto despite their language barrier. They're both working on learning English. I headcanon that her mother is dead and that she just lives with Mo Ci because it sort of parallels Gumi and Ryuto.

IA

A literal alien from the planet ARIA. This is the human disguise she takes, but her actual form is kinda blob-like and translucent idk I need to draw it out sometime. Has a younger sister named ONE. In human years she's around 19. In a relationship with Flower. Non-repulsed Asexual (can you tell I'm projecting my sexuality onto the robots and aliens yet?). Her species reproduces asexually so she never really thought about it before dating Flower, but she's open to it. Romantically I'd just say queer. I mean she's not even human and her taking on the persona of a woman was kinda arbitrary. Enjoys learning about humans. Very sleepy, she never quite gets used to earth time. Prefers to wear comfy clothes when she's not performing.

ONE

Again, an Alien from ARIA. Around 15 in human years. More energetic than IA. Participates in athletics at the school she's attending. Socially awkward and kinda shy. Somehow the more responsible of the sisters, she usually cooks breakfast because IA doesn't get up early ever. In a relationship with KAFU. Thinks humans are strange creatures. Romantically a Lesbian, but like in a gender queer way. Really looks up to her sister.

Flower

Human. 100% a lesbian you can't convince me otherwise. Somewhere around 21 I think. Another single mom, but to twins this time. It's a whole story. In a relationship with IA. Somehow keeps attracting otherworldly beings into her life. Xin Hua is her cousin, they're around the same age and pretty close.

So here's her single mom backstory. When she was a kid she used to visit her grandparents for the summer along with Xin Hua. They had would play at the little park across the road (out in the country ya know?) and their grandma would always bring them fresh fruit to snack on. So one day she eats some plums and buries the seeds at that little park. And well she stopped staying at her grandparents for the summer. She returns years later after the death of her grandparents to help clean out their house and she notices that a plum tree has grown at that little park. She takes a break to go over there and have a plum for old times sake and 2 kids fall out of the tree like "Mom!!!" Oopsie, she accidentally created 2 plum tree spirits and now she's got kids.

She is a very tired single mother and still can't really believe that this happened, but she loves them all the same and does her best for them.

KAFU

A literal robot. Created with the personality and intelligence of a teenager (16-17. KAF was 17 at the time of recording so KAFU is minor). In a relationship with ONE. Asexual grey-aromantic) Very curious personality. Likes learning things about ARIA from ONE. Very busy work schedule.

MEIKA Hime

One of Flowers little fae kids. Around 11-12. Very bubbly and hyperactive, def has ADHD. Hyperfixated on plants. Attached at the hip to her twin (I mean like an unhealthy kinda codependency for real). Non-binary, They/She. Some kinda queer. Has a crush on Una. Friends with the other middle school age kids (Una, Oliver, etc.). Not very good at academics, but enjoys science. Has psychic powers. Their life is directly affected by the their tree so if the tree gets sick or hurt, so does she. Is a sleepwalker, often ends up scaring people in the middle of the night on accident.

MEIKA Mikoto

The other fae child. Around 11-12. Not talkative at all, very blunt when she does speak. Maybe autistic, but could just be antisocial I'm not sure yet. Attached at the hip to their twin (I mean like an unhealthy kinda codependency for real). Non-binary, They/She/He. Some kinda queer. Hyperfixated on insects. Enjoys horror movies and novels. Hime's rock. Holds a bit of resentment toward Flower for leaving them alone for so long, but it fades after they start living together. Has psychic powers. Their life is directly affected by the their tree so if the tree gets sick or hurt, so does he. They prefer quiet study sessions with Oliver and find Una to be a little overwhelming at times. She enjoys learning about astrology from IA once she starts hanging around more often (when her and Flower start dating).

Kaai Yuki

Human. 9 years old. Poor immune system, often gets sick (bc her voice provider literally had a cold at the time of recording her voicebank). Kiyoteru is her foster parent, but he does eventually adopt her. Really enjoys school and learning. Tutors the littler kids.

Yun Quan

(if it's not obvious this is my fan design for her) Human, around 8. Tall for her age. Snarky and a rich girl. Very protective of her friends and very mean to everyone else. She's not allowed to wear makeup, but really wants to be able to wear it, so she just has a huge collection of lip smackers lip balm.

Otomachi Una

Human, 11. Sees gumi as a sort of big sister / mentor figure since they share a management team. ADHD. Hyperfixated on marine life, specifically eels. Since she like canonically has different personas (Sugar, Spicy, and Talk) that all seem very different, I sort of have this idea that she has DID and that those personas her her different alters, but I don't have DID and don't wanna misrepresent it so I'm hesitant with that one. My other idea for it that I lean more toward is that they're her different ways of masking. So like Spicy could be her preformance mask, sugar could be how she is in everyday life, and talk could be how she presents in school. I know I (my autistic ass) have different masks for different social settings. Also Una is really into Scene fashion and 100% drinks Monster. She is in marching band.

Oliver

Zombie boy. around 11. Soft spoken and anxious. has a pet bird named James. His whole family is some kinda monster. Self concious about his stitches so he covers them with bandages, but that just draws more attention to him. Does not like going to school or really in public at all. Afraid of water. Close friends with Mikoto and Yuki.

8. What are some similarities between you and your muse/muses?

I'm a doormat, I wish I had more similarities to them! I think something I can say is similar is "living in chaos" in a general sense, I can't nail down a solid schedule for the life of me, even when I have a consistent (eg. work) I won't remain consistent elsewhere, whether that's trashing up my sleep schedule or eating meals at obscure times.

12. Have you any old muses that you’d love to bring back?

I would love to bring back an OC family, in particular the middle daughter (Corrie) who takes up arms to defend home and hearth. The youngest daughter (Ukielle) finds a griffin egg and hatches it, the secret is quickly out and their mother hesitantly allows her to keep it with some very strict conditions. Though the OC scene is quite rough in the Tumblr landscape and I don't have the steam to try and get them off the ground.

18. Are there any AU’s you’d like to explore but haven’t had the chance to yet?

Oh, always. I consume a piece of media, I want to create an AU (I love alternate worlds for characters and doing my best to make them fit). I think the ones I would want to explore at the moment is the newest and obvious (FFXVI) and some of the older more obscure (FFVII original game survivor) because in the case of both I would need to actually put out a specific plotting or starter call and when it comes it [inbox/starter/plotting] calls I am worried about not being able to deliver something in a timely order so I have to pluck up a lot of courage to put myself out there.

Werewolves I feel are better off in the hardcore magic category but we'll give it a shot.

So, the real life beasties that have physical cyc to the moon are pretty much all mating cycles so we are going down a very specific path. Coral reefs have multitudes of species that all time their breeding to the full moon to take advantage of both seasonal currents and overwhelmed predators. If the water is absolutely chock full of larve and funky lil fertilized eggs things that want to eat them are spoiled for choice and the individual eggs have a better shot. Bugs do something similar.

Sea turtles lay eggs on the beach and when those babies hatch they find the water by finding the reflection of the moon and following the light. This leads to very sad sea turtle babies who are born on beaches next to cities and wind up following headlights into traffic.

So for werewolves, the moon is less of the driving force behind the transformation and more of a way to sync everyone's transformation to the same night. Figuring out who is a werewolf while the werewolves are all people is nearly impossible and sorting through is a terrible evolutionary strategy especially if revealing yourself as a werewolf to a human gets you chased with pitchforks and torches. From simply an evolutionary standpoint, the way to make more werewolves is to put 2 wolves together and hope they breed. The full moon is just a convenient date for scheduling sexytimes.

So let's think about the transmission of lycanthropy.

In dogs there is a transmisible cancer. Very sad, major bummer, but, the point is that its viral. Or at least acts like a virus. The canine cancer cells (virophages? I'm also operating on less than ideal sleep, bear with me) infect healthy canine cells and then do what cancer does. but the DNA of the cancer cells, while it is still canine, is Not the mutated DNA of the infected dog. It's basically bits of a different dog growing inside the sick dog. Which, in real life is very bad and kills the dog, and if we are going the hard science route only works in one direction. One insane physical transformation is possible, changing back is way harder. Butterflies don't go back in cocoons, salmon don't come back from a spawn.

So imagine lycanthropy to be more like zombification. You get bit and you won't know till the full moon if its infected you. Once you turn, there is no turning back, the wolf overtakes your cells from the inside to use for its own purposes. Once a month the world lives in fear as the beast claims the night, ravening and hungry.

The full moon acts as a spawning schedule for the virus, such a violent transformation is an all or nothing event. The goblin known as Glipglop throws the moose 120 feet. Truk did 20 and tries again throwing the moose 200 feet. Patrick got 180.
