I didn't know I was trans until I did, and before that I wasn't in a place to understand that about myself -- and hell, in some ways I think me being trans wasn't even true! until it was! I couldn't have transitioned earlier than I did -- I had to go through some stuff and evolve into myself.

when I did transition (at 48yo!) I had at least a couple of people who were like "ahh!! I always knew it!" bitch! no you didn't! because I didn't! you didn't know shit! I am in fact the world-wide universal expert on myself and if I didn't know it neither the fuck did you!

it's one thing to gently say to someone you know well, "hey, given xyz in your life, have you considered you might be trans?" but egg theorizing about people in general is invasive and weird, especially if you don't know them. if random people would have theorized on my hypothetical trans-ness before I was ready to meet myself where I was, especially to my face? it would have probably set me back, because at the time I would have been like, "hm, nah, that isn't it" and closed that door in my mind. and I knew plenty of trans people so it's not like there weren't amazing examples right in front me! idk, you're just not ready until you are. don't be weird with people. let them work it out the way they need to. it's not your business.

I think that egg theorizing is just as weird, delusional, and entitled as transvestigating actually and I think it's even worse if you're trans. You should know better.

Bede is transfemme and I will elaborate.

-she literally changes her type specialty from psychic to fairy, going from specializing in something she was praised for but inauthentic to something more reflective of her true nature that causes her to become more fulfilled

-after Opal calls Bede “pink”, and explicitly notes that she’s sincere but also twisted and misguided, she immediately switches from calling her “boy” to calling her “child.” Which could mean nothing.

-“Bede’s life won’t be bound by what other people say any longer. Although I certainly influenced a few of his decisions not too long ago.” Obviously the direct meaning of that last part is that she spurred her to change her type specialty, but like I said, the type specialty change itself is metaphorical for Bede embracing her authentic self and discovering what she genuinely wants to do and be via someone else’s earnest guidance. It’s also easy to read any proclamation of a character being free from other people’s intentions and perceptions of them with a coming-out lense.

-Bede is explicitly stated to have become less abrasive and more mellow since she started to be Opal’s student and embrace her “inner pink”. Her ”type” transition and her acceptance of pink has significantly improved her emotional state and outlook.

-Color Significance Bonus:

she’s wearing the transgender flag.

TL;DR: Bede changing from a psychic type specialist to a fairy type specialist is a metaphor for transitioning MTF.

ngl when the eggs come back i bet they're gonna have respawn. or more lives, anyway, but respawn seems more likely. This whole disappearance event has taken them from their parents as suddenly as an actual death would, and let the parents go through their various planned-hoped for grieving arcs- because as much as we all love the eggs, there WOULD have been disappointment if they had all shown up one day and the possibility of their parents burning down the world had been taken away. it's letting the players fulfil their angsty little arcs and have some Fun with the roleplay, and then at the end give everyone a little reward.

A little question as someone who can't follow all POVs:

As I was watching Tubbo's POV, I realized that Chayanne and Tallulah seemed to have info that the other didn't have, but was very small. Tallulah has physical pain, which makes us think that she (and probably by extension, all of the eggs), has been hurt, tampered with, or made to do some kind of physical activity. The most interesting one tho is Chayanne, Chayanne didn't remember if he awoke or not, didn't remember if he stayed asleep or not, and I remember him saying that he had intention of waking up, but didn't remember if he did or not, which makes me think that the whole ''they have been kidnapped again'' makes more sense.

Anyone who follows other POVs, have you noticed any info like that ab what might have happened to them? I am thinking maybe every egg remembers a small detail of what might have happened.

you can still celebrate black history month, hispanic heritage month, aapi month, etc to preserve the written and oral histories of these diverse cultures. you can donate and frequent museums and other venues who will likely have their funding pulled for doing just that. you can amplify gay and lesbian stories and lives and volunteer at organizations dedicated to HIV research and defending marriage equality, or even just celebrating same-sex love. you can feed your community whenever you’d like. you can help your immigrant neighbors find work, housing, and a village. you can offer rides to the elderly and babysit the children of working parents in your neighborhood. you can tutor them and make sure they have access to the histories the american school system will try to ignore. you can provide medicine and transportation to women who need reproductive care. you can read feminist texts, create female solidarity, and encourage the women and girls in your life to take up space and not shrink in times like this. you can support independent journalists and keep the mainstream ones you trust alive. you can show up for artists creating diverse stories and perspectives and amplify their works. you can help fund and create your own independent media channels and networks. you can band together to put a down payment on a house and enjoy it together with people you love, even if it's 6 of you to one place. you can carpool and split the cost of gas and car repairs. you can share your metro card. you can go out of your way to patronize small businesses just because they’re bisexual-owned, native american owned, disabled-owned, or whatever you relate to and find community in. you can ask to donate to them to help offset rising costs of rent and inventory. you can frequent libraries and check out books on controversial topics and experiences other than your own so they can preserve funding, or you can buy their stock to keep these books circulating should they be affected too. you can pay off lunch debts at k-12 schools and make meals for the children in your community so they don’t have to worry about going hungry when they should be studying. you can buy in bulk from costco or sam’s club and share or donate where you can. you can take student and professional clubs for affinity groups off the threatened campuses and workplaces and into something accessible like the park, an online forum, or even a living room to keep them alive. you can offer to help clean the homes of your elderly/disabled neighbors or even just let the theater kids throw a production of “dreamgirls” in your backyard because somebody’s ornery peepaw accused it of being CRT propaganda and got it shut down.

you can take care of each other. you don’t need the backing or funding of the government to preserve, honor, or amplify the humanity and heritage of those around you. all this waffling about not owing anybody anything and small talk with strangers being ableist and bourgeoisie needs to stop yesterday. no one is coming to save us. get serious and mitigate harm where you can. see about your people and do it often

Komi Theory - Kometani has a crush on Manbagi

Hello internet, welcome to Komi Theory! The only post on Tumblr that attempts to ship two characters that likely won't even end up together in the narrative!

While Wakai/Manbagi seems like endgame at this point, Chapter 414's left enough openness with the pairing that anything can happen to it. And, despite not doing much right now, I'm convinced Oda has Kometani in his back pocket for their upcoming arc.

Anyways, this post's gonna be pretty long, so I'll cut it for length. Otherwise, let me explain my reasoning!

At a glance, Kometani getting a crush on someone like Manbagi seems far-fetched. He's the type of person to snark at everyone around him, and even admits in Chapter 286 that he prefers "a reliable girl", pointing to Isagi as the girl he likes most.

However, exactly two chapters later, there seems to be a wrench thrown into his response. As a recap, this is the one where Manbagi and Kometani ended up partnering with one another on the trip to America. And, while most of it's spent explaining why she screwed up the rigged partnering, the framing between the two's... strange.

Additionally, this marks the second time we see the iconic Kometani Smile™️, something that's instigated by hearing Manbagi's ridiculous way of getting cold feet. Considering the first time it was shown was during a smiling competition, and even their group's usual hang-out sessions didn't get so much of a grin out of him, this seems pretty big imo.

It should be noted that he knew about Manbagi's feelings for a while, so that makes me wonder a couple of things. Is this reaction to her something he developed specifically during this moment? Has he liked her for a while but refused to say anything? Keep in mind that Chapter 286 had Naruse disingenuously claim he liked Komi more than Ase, so it's entirely possible Kometani did the same thing.

But obviously, he serves more as Manbagi's wingman after he reveals how much he knows, going on to help clear the church Manbagi planned to confess in during Chapter 293. However, the Valentines arc seems to hint at something, particularly due to one little easter egg.

As a bit of set-up, Naruse proposes to walk with the boys after school's over, with Tadano rejecting for school council duties. Notably, Kometani declines as well, which is treated as a small aside.

Long story short, Rumiko blows her chances of being with Tadano due to her big-heartedness, with the entire class coming in to comfort her over it. And hidden away from the audience, we can see a certain someone attending.

This seems to be a very deliberate choice since, despite being a huge wingman for Rumiko up to this point, the narrative never once focuses on him consoling her.

This arc also has a more ambiguous piece of evidence to this theory: someone rejects going to Manbagi for karaoke with the class. And, while the message lacks the asterisks at the start of the sentence, the stoic manner of speaking matches Kometani perfectly.

This is a super small detail that Oda didn't need to add, making me think the reason for this rejection will be established later down the road.

Skipping a bit later, when Wakai's arc starts out proper, you'd assume Kometani isn't central to it at all due to the obvious pairing Oda's trying to do. However, Chapter 345 has both him and Katai end up befriending him, which goes on to be a small side friendship in the following chapters.

While normally I'd say this is just a small subplot to give the boys from the Komi-Tadano harem, Naruse's absence makes me think there's significance to it just being these two.

Katai's inclusion is pretty obvious, since he's mistaken for Manbagi's boyfriend and shows off his character growth. Kometani, meanwhile... noticed him pass out. He doesn't even use his fourth-wall-breaking-shenaniganry to deduce Wakai can't talk to girls.

And, sure, there's enough credence to the idea that he's being set up to be a matchmaker again, but I don't think Oda forgot about Chapter 288. Specifically, because this moment from 413 exists:

Sure, this is just a subtle little gag and everything, but he's clearly oggling her chest, c'mon. He's at least attracted to her physically.

This chapter's also the one directly before Manbagi shooting down Wakai's confession for the time being, meaning that Oda knew exactly what he was doing.

With all of this together, I'm being painted the idea that Kometani has some level of interest in Manbagi, but is keeping it subtle enough that it doesn't get in the way of her and Wakai. However, with Wakai and him becoming friends, this aspect will finally come to the forefront in some shape or form.

As for why this is being played so subtly, I personally think Kometani realizes he likes her, but is trying to avoid his feelings due to "the narrator not interfering with the story" or something, resorting to matchmaking her with people instead.

But regardless, we'll see if anything happens with this in canon! For now, that's just a theory. A Komi Theory! Thanks for reading!

I have so many ideas for TQ and Poll that I have no idea how to present so:

Random fun facts about my eggs! (some drawn, some written)

Poll has memories from before their adoption (including the tests the Federation put them through), while Tequilla is missing every memory from before about a week before he met Poll.

Poll once had a meltdown because she realised that her tail wasn't long enough to wrap around their brother's leg, like he can.

Poll had stripes in their dragon form before they got their colors. Similarly, Tequilla's freckles were the first thing to appear on his dragon form.

(Tequilla doesn't know how the crack appeared, but it seems like it's nearly healed up. He doesn't mind that it's there, but the lack of a horn makes him uncomfortable.)

Poll's first set horns haven't fully come in just yet. They're visible on his head but haven't broken the skin yet. They ache sometimes.

Poll and Tequilla have the same eye color now.

Poll's wings are larger proportionally than their brother's, which makes them very unwieldy but also means that they'll probably be able to fly sooner.

Tequilla is the better swimmer.

Poll doesn't have any fighting ability whatsoever, but Tequilla does. He prefers to use blunt objects. He's thinking about teaching Poll the basics, but it's pretty hard to do when all you have is the muscle memory.

Both have frequent nightmares, which has led them to always share a bed.

Tequilla hasn't gotten to the point he feels comfortable calling Stardust his parent.

Both trace their markings to stim/calm down. Sometimes they'll trace each other's if they're in reach.

Poll's ears have soft tufts on the tips and fuzz on the insides. Tequilla's are also very soft on the inside.

Tequilla's ears are shaped like goat ears, and are much more floppy than Poll's.

Sometimes they'll carry each other around in their egg form when they're not feeling very good.

Tequilla keeps very random objects in his messenger bag. Some are new, but a few were in there when he woke up in the forest. He doesn't recognize them, but he keeps them around just in case.

Both enjoy stargazing.

Poll doesn't have a humanoid form, unlike some of the other eggs they've met, because they have never actually met a human before. Their only experience is their other friends.

Tequilla threat displays like an owl, which makes him look bigger. Poll, on the other hand, looks very silly when they threat display. They hold their wings straight up in the air and tuck their arms against their chest, to make them look taller.

I might come back to this list some other time to add more but I'm very satisfied now.
