#eevee day 2023

This is my belated Eevee Day drawing that I wanted to finish by yesterday, but I couldn't do so in time. Regardless of timing, this drawing was one of the oldest ideas I had sitting on my list for a very long time and it took me until now to finally put it onto a digital canvas!

For context as to what's going on here, Bruno the Eevee placed a bet with his teammate, TT the Riolu, to see how many apples the two of them could collect for their client by sunset the previous day. Whoever lost the bet would have to dance the entirety of the Nutcracker Suite while wearing a tutu on stage in front of their entire guild the following day. The competition between them was close, but TT won by 1 apple and so, Bruno had to bare the loss and humiliation as he reluctantly took the tutu, got on stage, and began dancing to the Nutcracker Suite, looking completely unamused by these turn of events and everyone, including his teammates, laughed and cheered as he danced throughout the song.

I originally planned to include mostly half of a human holding his arms as he wore the tutu. But, I could not draw the human's hand holding Bruno's paws properly and after a bit of pondering, I decided to scrap the human's inclusion and change the theme to have it take place in the universe of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (despite me never playing any of the games, I've seen a lot of fan art of the series and managed to get a general idea as to what the spinoff series is about.) Sometimes, thems the breaks and it can also lead to different opportunities to make the original vision even better as one changes their approach and new ideas flood in to compensate for one's lack of skills in a given situation. TL;DR: I need to practice drawing humans much more before I can include them in any serious drawings.

This is a topic I have strong feelings on, both from an aesthetic preference standpoint and a practicality of armor and weapons perspective, so this might stray a little into hot topic territory...

To start with, I’m actually pretty partial to the original look. You know, this guy:

Give me a smooth featureless helmet, a biker jacket, and some tactical jeggings any day. It’s classic.

That said, my favorite look is probably actually from RHatO. I think the design it’s pretty similar between the New 52 and Rebirth, but the art is better in Rebirth.

I love the thigh holsters and the greaves. My major beef with this look is the three-quarter sleeves and the bared forearms. Like, come on, Jason is mainly a close-quarters combat fighter who favors knives. There is no power on earth that could convince me that he shouldn’t be rocking a sick pair of vambraces.

Task Force Z isn’t ... terrible. I loath the crowbars as a weapon of choice (🤮👎). But I like the streamlined, hyper-jointed, plate-armor look that realistically provides protection for melee fighting while still letting him flip around. Not really a fan of the hood look here though (are we just blatantly ripping off Iron Man now?).

I detest, likely deeply and passionately detest, the muzzle and cropped hoodie vest get-up. And, omg, the red ribbons on his arms, don’t even get me started. Like what the fuck even is that? It’s ridiculous. My problem with this look is partially that the aesthetics and impracticality don’t appeal to me, but also that it’s so over the top it makes Jason feel like a caricature of himself.

Possibly the only thing worse than the muzzle/ribbons get-up is the pill head Jason design. It’s just so godawful I’m not going to feature it here.

When it comes to Robin, I don’t have a particular favorite. I adore cute as button Jaybin in his little collared yellow cape (although I wish the artists would give him some kneepads at least).

Okay, everyone gather around for an Astrilyx loretelling time… This is Timothy who is my most cherished Eevee plushie and item in general ever. Ver full name is Tiny Fox Tim as a Markiplier reference to the Tiny Box Tim running bit he had many years back. I got Timothy with Sol a day after my rebirthday in 2023 at the Build A Bear station in a local mall and I’ve always held vem in my sleep and leisure since. I don’t take vem out since ve’s beyond special to me that I fear losing or staining vem badly, but someday I’ll take vem out here and there. Ve also have a heartbeat and ver Pokémon cry sound effects, which make this plushpal extra endearing and precious to me, although I didn’t get a scent added since I felt it’s nice to have vem have a natural scent. Ve’s quite of a big squishy fella that take up our upper body and ve’s very soft and sweet to hold with. Timothy’s just so full of love and care that I’m most grateful and happy to having as part of my life. 🤎✨

Tag Game: Nonsims interests

Pokémon - my longest-term interest, I have been into Pokémon since the days of Red and Blue, my first games. I still have yet to complete Y, Shield, and Let's Go Eevee. My favourite generations are 1 and 5. My favourite types are Fairy, Water, Dragon and Fire. A handful of my favourite Pokémon are: Dragonite, Hydreigon, Totodile, Bulbasaur line, Sylveon, Growlithe line, Lapras, Rapidash, Articuno and Raikou.

Colouring - I mostly draw digitally and sometimes traditionally, but due to various factors and lack of energy / ability I have become more interested in colouring. I have a few different magazines, I did have a very intricate Kerby Rosanes fantasy book with beautiful art but I got a bit impatient and stressed with it and gave it to a friend. My current favourite colouring book is my 'Cosy Cuties' book.

Skyrim and Oblivion - I replay Skyrim obsessively every 2 years or so. I bought the Oblivion Game of the Year edition (2009) a while ago for PC after playing it on XBox so I am currently playing a modded game (took a while to sort out, but now it looks so gorgeous). I do prefer Oblivion to Skyrim for a few reasons, it feels brighter colour-wise, more varied cities and architecture, and I prefer the main story. I've only played the Shivering Isles DLC.

Dragon Age - When I say this series potentially saved my life, I mean it. The hyperfixation I had on this series in 2017 got me through what would have been a doubly-horrible time otherwise, things have sucked ass for years but they'd have sucked even more ass without Dragon Age. My favourite characters are Alistair, Iron Bull, Dorian and Anders, but back in 2017 I did not play with walkthroughs and so missed out on Sten, Zevran (killed him not knowing he'd be a companion...) and Vivienne. I am in the process of replaying through Dragon Age: Origins on PC, and Sten and Zevran are great.

Arcane - a recent one, I loved this series and thought it was too short. I normally do not watch shows due to lack of interest in non-interactive things and I binged it as fast as I could. I really love the characters and the story, mostly Season 1. I don't hate Season 2 as much as everyone else does though. My favourite characters are Mel, Vi and Viktor.

Baldur's Gate 3 - a former DnD / Pathfinder player, I leapt on this game and fell in love with it. This got me through Christmas 2023. My favourite characters are Gale, Wyll and Karlach.

I avoid all fandom spaces except for Simblr, for good reason.

To Those Lost and To Those Who Remain Trigun Ace Week Prompt 6: Found Family / Queerplantonic Relationships [IMG ID: Black and white image with grayscale background. Once upon a time, an improbably-pacifist gunslinger, a pair of insurance agents / disaster investigators and a priest/assassin formed tight bonds and a strange little family together. By the end of their story, one of them was gone, leaving those who remained with the memories. This piece was done and scheduled to post as it has a reality-subtext for me. On this day, January 19th, 2023, I lost a vital member of my own found family. My partner, his adult nephew and I were three geeks in a pod - and then we learned that our nephew had died suddenly. He'd had some health problems, but he had been getting better and his heart just giving out on him wasn't something we'd expected. Matt was the one who told me that Trigun, which he knew I was a nut for, was getting a reboot and one of the little things I miss is the fact that we didn't get to talk about it together, even though his classic anime reboot of choice was the new Lupin III. Matt loved Eevees and Transformers, dogs, cooking shows and good food. He has been missed every day. _ This piece is not so much a memorial to him as it is just a fulfilment of one of the prompts for Trigun Ace Week (regarding the importance of found families), but I chose to do something sad and regarding memorials. Vash, Meryl and Milly met Wolfwood and from then on out, their lives were never going to be the same. Their lives shaped his and his life shaped theirs. The rest of the odd little family remains, and this is a tribute to their remaining bonds. The price of love is grief. We keep those we love alive in the countless ways they affected us.

So while I was playing through the game, I had my phone on the side, checking for shines via an incense.

I only got one but he’s a special boy. 🥰 (And the fact that this all on DS 2 original release date feel like fate XD)

The other day I was showing Emma some of my Pokemon and came to realise it’s really somewhat of a collection of my memories, like look at this hundo Wooloo I caught in Malmö when I met Omar for the first time in 2023 and this shiny Wooloo I caught in Copenhagen in 2024 when we went to see TIT for the first time and this Yvetal I got from a raid with Tyler in 2021 and this Eevee from Manchester (you know the place) and these other two hundos I caught while queueing for Omar in Copenhagen 🥹 and there’s so many more 🥹🥹
