First session of work D&D left one PC dead and the rest stabilised but unconscious.
So it could have gone better...but they all had fun somehow? XD (rip Hollow the dhampir warlock, we hardly knew ye.)

Here's the rundown of my work D&D party! For their first quest they are out to stop a mage (and his undead minions) who are suspected to be the cause of a nearby town's problems.
Throg (he/him): a half-orc barbarian who carries around a boulder named Dwan'ye, which he believes has magical powers. His rage is a response to Dwan'ye being in danger!
Borealis (he/him): tiefling cleric of Ralishaz, god of misfortune. Is responsible for Throg's belief in Dwan'ye, as he causes it to glow in response to questions if he wants the answer to be 'yes.'
Picky (any pronouns): deep gnome rogue who hides behind Dwan'ye and speaks on occasion to aid the illusion that he is alive. In combat she hides behind the rock in question, firing bolts at whoever looks the most dangerous.
Hollow (he/him): vampiric warlock of an ancient treant. Joined the party to find a new cave after he was driven out of his old one by bears. Was killed by skeletons shortly after Borealis tried to bless him, which just goes to show you should never accept blessings from a god of ill luck!
There's also a water genasi paladin whose name I presently forget (she was there for character creation but not the first session.)

Ran the first session of D&D for my colleagues last night! I usually use milestone levelling, but decided to use exp this time to encourage people to actually turn up (will of course change to milestone if there is too dramatic a level gap or anything like that!)
Last night we had Borealis, Throg and an unlisted character called Hollow. Unlisted for very good reason: he was killed by skeletons (all three were unconscious but the other two passed enough death saves to stabilise.)
It's up to the other players to get their unconscious friends to safety next session, methinks!

I've killed six player characters in as many years of DMing, but all have returned to life except the most recent. I never aim to kill characters and I still don't like doing it, but it stresses me out less than it used to which does allow for better storytelling.
Amani the half-elf sorcerer, killed by an archfiend (revivified by Khamet.)
Khamet the human paladin, killed by his own party (re-appeared on the other side of the world because he cannot be permanently killed through violence.)
Phoebe the half-drow warlock/cleric, killed by a mechanical dragon (Va'Kym's reincarnation dust brought her back in the body of a moon elf.)
B'doop the grung fighter/barbarian, revivified by Catherine (he was a zealot barb so there wasn't even a material cost.)
Faine the hexblood warlock, who was killed by a black pudding and revived by a teacher.
Hollow the dhampir warlock, killed by skeletons while trying to loot them.
(This doesn't include 'scripted' deaths- like Tally the drow monk giving her life to make a magic ring give her people a chance of escaping their evil goddess!) (she also got better.)

Paladin is called Anahita! Finally updated the sheet with the right name.
