dana scully
birthdate: february 23, 1964
birth time: 4:04 am (i made this up)
birthplace: annapolis, md
sun: pisces
(think about scully's ability to mask & why she followed mulder <3)
(consider little green men when her student tells her she sounded spooky. she's definitely someone with some daily routines because it helps her regulate. i think, at times, her religion is part of that for her too.)
moon: cancer
(you can't tell me this isn't what her & mulder are all about. like in fire, mulder tells her a little bit about phoebe, he keeps it very vague. she repeats it back to him the way she understood it, she's completely right about how horrible she is, and he knows. the way she digs with him in paper hearts. the way she holds him when his mother died & tells him what he needs to hear. even the way, at the end of conduit, she listens to his regression tapes.)
rising: capricorn
(i think this is so self explanatory, it actually makes me ache)
mercury: aquarius
(is this not the perfect description of scully? i know we ususally talk about how mulder sees everything & understands everything, but i think scully does too. she just tends to ignore or repress it or something a lot of the time. ALSO the way she communicates sometimes is so clear, and others she may as well be speaking martian. that intellectual distance thing.)
venus: aries
(upending gender norms and how fiercely she protects mulder. her always professional look. also lends to the idea that scully's childhood was not as positive as we're lead to believe. probably not abusive, but she's the third child of four in an irish catholic navy family. lollll)
mars: pisces
(to me, this is why people think she could have climbed the ladder & would have if not for mulder & the x files. she adapts, can put on the mask, play nice, but it doesn't leave for room for dana/scully to exist. it's part of the conflict in never again. it's part of she's "always the strong one" -- she's that for mulder, she tries to be everything for mulder. but no one can be everything and it didn't leave room for her to vulnerable. she learns that over time, but it was a struggle. 'the hub of her community' also makes me think of s8&9 when mulder is gone. they all put her at the center, and she let them. but to her, mulder was the heart of it.)
saturn: aquarius
(included saturn because she's a capricorn rising so it's her ruling planet. and of course it's about rebelling and systems!! she genuinely does understand, she sees how differently men & women are treated, how people with disabilities are treated/misunderstood. she treats mulder well but she quickly learns how others treat him and instantly becomes so protective & defensive of him. and the thing is, this isn't about rebelling at all. it's about understanding the world & its systems, and rejecting them. scully was born to break the mold, and she finally gets to do that freely with mulder & the x files.)
mc: scorpio
(scully was meant to be on the x files. he will find the truth, and she'll be right there beside him when he does. the way she tries to help her former student with the case, understanding the "boys club" mentality that makes it much more difficult for women to be taken seriously. also...scully doesn't seek out community very often, it's more like she lets it happen. and she builds it around mulder, even if doggett & reyes are there for *her*)
chiron: pisces
(chiron is known as "the wounded healer" and this just seems like the crux of her journey. she gives herself so wholly to mulder, therefore the x files. and it seems she may have done this in the past, but there was something that made her leave. i think with mulder, after time, she learns and starts to heal, and she doesn't have to sacrifice herself the same way she has before. think about her love letters in memento mori & season 9.)
aspects
(aspects delve into how your placements interact. pluto aspecting the moon is called a hades moon. which i might make a separate post about)
thanks for reading!! all of this is from the chani app, i had nothing to do with it. i only added some thoughts after the pictures <3

A little idea that's been floating around in my noggin is giving Chiron a space/galaxy theme as a nod to him being the constellation Sagittarius. It'd be a neat idea for his Grand Servant design (because I refuse to believe he isn't or wasn't Grand Archer at some point I mean it makes too much sense!) so please consider Space Centaur
Honestly Chiron with space aesthetic sounds rad as hell, especially knowing and seeing what fate can do with that theme
Mmm yes… SpCentaur is going to live in my brain for 1000 years now… how do you feel about that being incorporated into the summer sprite edit
#with permission/credit ofc#if I can fa dangle it though we might be reaching too far with it lord knows I’m on the brink of insanity#if I can’t figure it out now I definitely do have grand archer Chiron ideas floating about for edits so who knows#sw habit of adding Sp for space lives in my brain forever too#Bitterrosebrokenspear Tag#fgo Chiron#Grand Archer Chrion#penguinkiwi answers stuff#fgo

demi god LU time
the law of hyperfixations says you must combine interests at every given chance
adding a cut here as to not clog feeds!! its a real long post
i wanna hear thoughts too! so dont be afraid to comment. these are my personal opinions and i wanna hear if anyone agrees or disagrees :D (apologies for all the tags btw)
edit to add the stupid doodle
the gods all have favorites, and ironically none of them are their own kids (save for hades: he loves his kid. doesn't make him a good parent, but you know?)
In a more Zelda timeline abiding setting; Originally they weren't all at camp halfblood at the same time, but time shenanigans decided they were to be brought together
Imagine Chiron’s surprise when 7 of his dead campers waltz into camp (this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME they enter camp. Dionysus is completely unfazed, knowing the bs time shit the gods are dealing with atm)
By the time they enter camp in Wild’s Hyrule for the second time he kinda understands (Wind and Sky didnt have a Camp Halfblood, for the record, for obvious reasons)
Alternatively, its some form of modern au where they’re just from different parts of Hyrule (skyloft, downfall, ordonia, windfall peninsula, hyrule town (different from castle town), the list goes on) which would make a lot more sense for this kinda au (the world would’ve just had a LOT of calamities within the span of a few years, some of the heroes knowing about camp and others not so much)
(i think Legend, Wars, Time, Wind (post WW) and Four would’ve known about Camp Halfblood while the others were just kinda on their own until after their quests) meaning over half of them didn’t have prophecies and just went to deal with the issue themselves, possibly meaning on their journey they learned of camp
Ok well, all of them but Wars, who grew up at Camp Halfblood
All Zelda’s are children of Athena, save for Skyward Sword Zelda since she's the reincarnation of Hylia (yeah, im keeping the original Zelda goddesses! What of it?)
At some point fairly early on, a Zelda only had a son, who got together with Athena at some point and boom
Sky: child of Zeus
self explanatory
God of the skies? his name is literally Sky
not to mention how fucking powerful he is?
he was the "first" Link; Zeus was technically the first God, it makes sense (this is such a stupid reason)
The skies are his home, Zeus finding someone on Skyloft and “falling in love” with their love of the sky too results in this bad boy right here
The demise fight? Only a zeus kid could harbor lightning like that
A camp counselor in the modern setting (ik typically once you’re 18, you’re no longer a camper really, but shhhh)
Wind: child of Poseidon
Don't roll your eyes, i've got a reason!!
the 4 wind gods throw a fit anytime he's sent on a quest (they all love him even if they won't admit it)
A world purely ocean and islands? Poseidon would have a fuckin ball
The Great Sea needed a hero, Wind was brought about more for necessity than out of the want to have a child (this leaves a hard disconnect between wind and the gods, knowing his dad didn’t really have him out of love for his mom but because the world needed to be saved)
The irony of Poseidon being the patron of pegasi and horses and Wind not knowing what a horse is will never not be a funny thought
Has more control over the wind than he does the sea (for now)
he, like Legend, pointedly ignores that he's a demi-god, especially since he comes after the Hero of Time (kinda hard to live up to that, even outside of a demi-god au)
The ocean and winds are his mood ring: you upset him the wind gods are after you
In a modern setting, the same reason applies kinda; a quest under the sea would be virtually impossible for anyone but a child of Poseidon, and hell knows a cyclopes isnt gonna be sent (gotta love those prophecies)
OR!! OR AND HEAR ME OUT
Wind isnt a demigod
The wind gods still adore him, but he doesn't have the hero’s spirit and i think that’d kinda translate to not being a demigod, yet still being the one who was destined to go on the quest because there just weren't any demigods to do it
Still not set on which id go with
Legend: child of Hades
Ah yes, child of the big three goes on so many quests trope. Love to see it
he's Apollo's favorite favorite (Warriors is jealous as hell. Thats his dad! Wdym he likes Legend more????)
Pointedly ignores the fact he's a demigod (at least, he definitely tries to)
Blessed by (and beefing with) so many gods from his quests
probably one of the few heroes who's spoken to their godly parent (trust me, it was out of obligation rather than free will)
Prefers helping out the more minor, underappreciated, and not as needy or bitchy gods (like Hestia, for example)
curses the Olympians constantly, they've learned to ignore him, hes their best questing kid
Sort of a general camp counselor since Hades doesn't really have kids (its technically his last year but hes been there the longest out of everyone)
Managed to block the oracle over iris message
After his trip to the dark world and lorule, the gods go haywire around him, much to his delight (because it means they leave him alone)
Hyrule: child of Hecate
adopted by Hermes (much to the dismay of all the Hermes children)
I was on the line between Hecate, Apollo, and Hermes; Hyrule’s affinity for magic and the blood curse resulted in Hecate to win
Very detached from the gods, the help he receives is never outright but more subtle blessings
The gods like to ignore Downfall after Legend died tbh (outside of modern, obviously)
Well, they still ignore Downfall as a city/country.
Only learned of camp thanks to Legend, otherwise he wouldn’t have had a clue it existed
Wild: child of Athena
Also adopted by Hermes
One of the more chaotic children of Athena
The idea of Athena being his godly parent sourced from his resourcefulness and quick battle (or just general) strategies, along with his pre-calamity self being stoic and more on the critical side
Completely forgot he was a demigod and just let loose, Athena is more than slightly perturbed by him and yet so infatuated
Supervises archery at camp
Warriors: child of Apollo
exemplifies almost 0 traits of his father other than his looks and his affinity for medicine (shit archer, shit musician, can't write poetry)
blessed by Athena during the war since he was struggling so much, she always has a soft spot for the heros since they fight to protect her daughters so hard (aka pity blessing)
Actively beefing with Ares
Aphrodite likes to keep an eye on him, mostly for entertainment (she woulda eaten the whole Cia debacle UP)
Very notorious in camp considering he was a war captain at the ripe age of 17; once learning of the whole Camp Jupiter has apartments and college for half bloods insisted and led a project at CHB to get something similar built (which is where he, Sky and Twilight stay after turning 18)
Twilight: child of Demeter
His love for ranch animals and caring for his farm lead me to this decision
Also the whole wolf thing, that also counts
Appalled by the fact Wind doesn't know what a horse is considering he's literally the son of Poseidon (jealous the kid can talk to Epona and he can't)
After his journey to the twilight, the gods kinda flicker between Greek and Roman around him so they tend to avoid him like Legend
blessed/cursed by Lupa, hence the wolf thing
Teaches foraging lessons at camp
Four: child of Hephaestus
He's the smithy, I couldn’t not say he's a Hephaestus kid
received a lot less help from the gods since he was one of the first
started advocating that heros receive help from the divine after LU concludes so those after him have a fighting chance (not in the modern setting)
I havent played many of his games, but the kinstones sound like a thing Hephaestus would scatter across the earth as scrap from his creations
Not one of the fire wielders (the only one that can wield fire is Red when split, mostly because of the elemental bs in minish cap)
After drawing the Four Sword, Janus (despite being roman (i like to think the four sword would be a roman artifact, it just feels right)) was suddenly pretty interested and bestowed what wisdom he had for the demi-god
Vulcan, Neptune, Aeolus, and Ceres all came together to forge the elemental stones; the Minish were still the ones to bestow the sword to Hylian people
The gods tend to avoid him too, for the same reason they avoid Twilight and Legend (dark world shenanigans and the Four Sword)
He loves the damn forge at CHB, and was ecstatic seeing the one at Camp Jupiter
He was asked by Chiron if he would be interested in running a forge class for young demigods (be it his siblings or anyone interested) but sadly declined
Has that air of responsibility to him, being a seasoned quester (and while his 3 doesn't stand to Legend’s 6, its still pretty sizable) hes looked up to by the younger campers
Time: child of Demeter Kronos?
The Kokiri were so Demeter core dont even tell me they werent
I guess they’d kinda act like nymphs and dryads in a sense??
His abilities use to relate to his mother until the events of his first quest: the Ocarina of Time was designed to slowly corrupt the user, being a creation of Kronos’
However, it wasn’t really designed with a demigod in mind sooo…
Also self explanatory, the titan of time? Duh… huh?? what do you mean he was taken over?? What do you mean he was a child of Demeter?? No he wasnt lol that Neverrr happened
the reason he's the only “child” of a titan is mainly because of the fierce deity mask literally making him god-like, meaning he has a lot more power harbored in him sooo (the second he dawned that mask he discarded his old identity for that of a titan’s child, since it was also cursed object)
Don’t ask how he came to being Kronos’ kin, no one knows, not even he does (I do) (no, it does not imply a Hylian wandered into Tarturus and got out alive to have the baby)
Avoids interacting with the gods at all costs, he's weary of them as they are of him (even if he saved the world twice)
Extras :)
Ravio: child of Pluto
blessed by Minerva for his natural quick witted nature and clever war strategies, if her own daughter can't succeed she might as well make sure ONE does
can tell if a rupee is real or not by glance alone
Sheerow scares the fuck out of the gods, which in turn means Ravio puts them on edge, a thing very few can achieve
the gods never gave him much thought until the events of albw, to which he suddenly gained like four pair of godly eyes on him
can and will plan one of the worlds most successful heists, refuses to participate
also beefing with Ares (not Mars, Ares)
Based on my personal HC that Ravio’s some sort of artificer (be it replicating magic dungeon items or just flat out creating new ones) i think Vulcan has his eyes on him too
Hilda: child of Minerva
by far the strangest child Minerva ever birthed
exemplifies the traits of a hero rather than a ruler
a little jealous her mother likes Ravio more than her
gods be damned, she's not going to let them neglect her kingdom anymore
a force of fucking nature that single handedly forced a meeting with the gods and somehow forced them to agree to start restoring Lorule (she got the idea from Legend, who has done this multiple times for multiple different reasons)

Gravity Falls x Percy Jackson: GF Characters as Demigods Pt. 2
See pt. 1 here (Mabel!), pt. 3 (Dipper), pt. 4 Side Characters, pt. 5 (Fiddleford & Lil Gideon)
Then, I thought of Stan and at first I was like, he could be a centaur like Chiron?? BUT then I thought of the angsty idea of him being a Hermes kid!
Stan being kind of crook and thus a child of the god of THIEVES/TRADE/WEALTH/MERCHANTS/TRICKERY/mischief/cunning?? It works.
ALSO, in relation to the PJO lore of Luke being a Hermes kid and traitor—though it’s been a minute so I don’t remember if Hermes kids had a bad rep after the Luke stuff (I do not think Stan is a traitor by any means)
BUT him being a Hermes kid adding to the reasons why his dad despises and distrusts him?? :((
Hermes also being a “protector” and one of Stan’s biggest character traits is being a natural protector.
Hermes the god of travelers as well and we know Stan traveled all over the U.S and a little outside of it. It fits so well to me. Stan being a child of the patron of travelers—explaining why he was able to survive all those years on the road, his luck with gambling (again, Hermes & luck/wealth). Seriously I need someone else to talk to this about.
Stan being a kid of Hermes (god of messages) explaining how he was able to understand Ford’s journals.
Him being a child of Hermes also explained why he was so ardent in traveling with Ford to explore !! SOMEONE HOLD ME ILL CRY?
Stan’s biggest dream of traveling the seas whereas Ford’s being knowledge/education :’)
Thusssss… FORD as a child of Athena. Wisdom, inventions-but moreso handicraft. Think of Daedalus in PJO.
Him inheriting Athena’s sometimes cold/stern nature. So ig in this au, the stans are half-brothers?? Explaining why Stan’s mom is partial to Stan ☹️. Whereas his father prefers Ford, like he liked Athena. (Caryn Pines loves her sons, related or not). Also ig Shermie’s a regular kid in this AU LMAOO. Would explain why the Stan Twins got into all sorts of supernatural stuff alongside the mystery twins!
Ford being a kid of the god of weaving (Athena) —> bonding time with Mabel (kid of the patron of arts, Apollo) and her crafts/knitting, etc.
EDIT: my friend texted me saying how even tho they know Stanford’s from NJ, Ford fits Athena’s Roman side sm better. :0
Pls share ur thoughts <33.

To the anon that sent me an ask about asking my thoughts about the tv show, Im so sorry but something happened and I think it got deleted 😭 But dw I would still answer it here-
So this would be a critism post and I want to make it clear that everyone is free to reblog and comment their thoughts freely, while being kind. Critism is valid and its not rude, but any bad comments or hateful remarks to any actor, especially child actors, would be deleted. I dont like blocking so dont make me please!
Okay to start, I would be so honest and say I did not find the show successful and I did not like it. I would explain all the reasons, but did it make me feel nostalgia a bit? Yes it did. Did it make me cry at the end? Yes :) I would add pros at the end. But first:
Cgi was really bad, I mean that claiming scene would be a laughing stock in a few years. Chimera? Nope- Medusa's hair also looked better in that movie in 2010. Also they avoided showing Grover's legs so much, also didn't even show us riptide's change...They got 15M per episode and if these are the results, then it is a problem. Background of Percy and Ares's fight- so so greenscreen. I wish Disney can take things seriously.
Lighting was so dark, especially for the lighting thief. Which was such a humor filled book and it was way too colorful. Why make it all so dark and lifeless?
Also humor? Way too low for pjo. "But we are not reading Percy's mind!" Yet, there were so many jokes in the books that could have been add, but they didn't. Yes there are some good jokes (pinecone fate) but to the standart, I expected to laugh way more. Its pjo!
Changes? Well to be honest I am a person who keeps book and show separate, I dont think they are the same at all. So I dont complain about the changes at much. But most of the changes were pointless to me and so many things left unsaid. I wish they didn't make Gabe way too soft. Children's show, yes. But then again, what would you do for later seasons if they cant even show Crusty's dead. Sally's real reason to marry Gabe never get explained, why? 4 pearls, why? Missing deadline? Totally pointless. Not mentioning Riptide's name? Chiron might have say it. Love tunnel? Now its a long one. Rick explained they couldn't do spiders and its hilarious, you gotta do sea monsters man- And instead of a chance to see an actual comedy: live on Olympus and Annabeth losing her shit. We get to see such a early scene of Percabeth drama. Why changing one of the funniest scene in the books to drama? You needed more edits for view or smt? Hephaestus falling over to the speech of friendship was nothing but cringe to me. Moving on, Thalia's acting to Annabeth. Why she is not nice to her and Annabeth had to earn her love. The point was Thalia to remember Jason and taking Annabeth under her wings immediatly bcs of it. Medusa's scene- Instead of us laughing to trio's silly behaviours and falling to her trap like little kids would, we get to hear a monster-hero talk. Yay another speech! Ovid's side of the story also bothered me. Greek mythology, why adding Ovid? Just us to sympatize with Medusa. Lotus Casino scene- We could have watch them have fun and going crazy but noo- they had do add more drama with Hermes. Did not see the point of his appearing either. Why is he there? I wanted to see them being children...And wanted to see the magic of the place!
Now if I move to characters, Percy's I know it all side is just annoying and adds no suspense to the viewers. What's the point if he knows everything already? "But his mom taught him!" But guys, remember, the whole point of pjo was: us to learn with Percy! We were learning the Greek myths with Percy, who is new to the world. They go somewhere and Percy immediatly: "You are Crusty, my mom told stories about you!" 😑 What a relief then! You tell us. Percy's sudden bravery at the end? Dude, he has 5 books for that.
Annabeth turning to a stoic child soldier? Suddenly goody-two shoes? Where are her emotions? Her fears? Her flaws? Her fricking love of architecture? She doesnt need to know everything to be smart girl. She had ADHD, she is 12! Ofc she was supposed to fall in traps. We should have watch her blushing as Luke talks, getting all wet by Percy in the toilet, she was supposed to our little girl. She is not just a badass queen yet, please. Give her personality back. Why she only smiled once at the end of the series? And not having a childhood, not even watched a movie? You guys cant be serious- She grew up in chb! She picked up strawberries, she played games and she watched movies when she was little, remember? She was not in legion... She is one of the most emotional characters, should we remind this to Rick and writers? She cries, she has feeling! Dam she was crying when they left Cerberus! She was a trouble-maker, she stole clothes, remember? Her portrayal was awful...
And about the Gods- Just..."He is trying to make them look awful at the beginning" Then why the hell it was only Athena? Almost turning her to second Zeus- Are you kidding me? You make her suddenly a child killer, when in the books she was nothing like that. Why making her worse, when other gods(Poseidon, Hermes, Hephaestus,Dionysus,Ares,Hades) seem way more human and nicer? You cant tell me he tries to make them worse when they are portrayed like that! No sir- Hephaestus is nice enough to release Percy after a friendship speech. Poseidon is suddenly a perfect dad, he is not sorry that Percy is born. Ares is just a dumb twitter bully, where in the books he was threating them to no end. And fricking Hades?! I am sorry but Hades like that- He should have been scary. But no, he is just a lonely cool guy. I thought he softened after Nico. Cant wait for the development now...
Other than that, one of my most important things: vibe. Sorry...Like I said, it was way too boring for pjo. Even that horrible movies had more vibe! Gimme the vibe!
Pacing? Has a problem and I hope they fix it. Episodes being too short? Also another issue.
Now for the chb, I was hoping to see more activity. Why the camp is not full of noisy kids running around, playing hide and seek like in the books, training wild around the areas, camfire and silly songs? Where are our children screaming and being ADHD demigods? Instead they play chess in the cabin- Please, give more life to chb.
Finally, for the things I liked:
Riptide song!!! That song is my favourite thing in the whole show- Like its soo good.
Seeing Sally's struggle to raise Percy. Also a plus for me. Because I was curious. Also adding Poseidon to the scene was okay. I loved that parts.
Young Percy did awesome and he was such a good actor :)
Percy's dreams were good, I loved seeing them. Congrats! Andd, child accurate cast. It was important. But I wish they hurry so then we wont have it anymore 😭
That was it! Like I said, I find it a bad show, as a fan of 12 years. I waited this for so many years. I was dreaming this. But sorry, bad show is a bad show. At least it did give me some nostalgia and it did make me cry at the end :) I hope they improve because it would suck if they get a cancel before season 5. The bad thing is, I feel they knew we pjo fandom wanted a show for years. And they knew we would eat the crumbs. Its just not fair, you know. They would like it anyway, type. They are not taking it as seriously as they should. With that budget, look at other shows with that budget. I know, its still a kids' show. But I dont think its an excuse for them to upset the fans who waited this long...
Thanks for the ask anon! And like I said, feel free to add your thoughts :)

Rachel you coward
I went all out on the Dyonisus redesign and made his hair mimic grape leaves, added a few spiral wounds because I think his birth wouldn't have been without accidents. Hope it's good!
I also edited in Chiron instead of Hades because. C'mon.

I've been trying to make a fancast for if the Percy Jackson series was made in the 1980s and 1990s. It's half Fancasting and half Faceclaims. Here's some of the ones I'm proud of so far:
Sally Jackson: Sally Field
Gabe Ugliano: Danny DeVito (Danny DeVito could also be Coach Hedge. Dual role maybe. Besides, I like Danny DeVito).
Chiron: Kevin Kline
Dionysus: Bill Murray (I'm not fully sold on this one, but I think it could possibly work. Bill Murray's got the deadpan comedy down). It's either Bill Murray or Tim Curry or maybe even Joe Flaherty.
Ares: Sylvester Stallone (I feel like he's one of the biggest action stars of the 1980s. He might honestly be able to play a god of war pretty well. His unique accent could even add to Ares as a character).
Medusa: Eartha Kitt (For some reason, i can't unsee this one. Eartha Kitt makes a great Aunty Em, to me).
These are just a few of them. Any more suggestions would be helpful. There's no way I'll get this all done by myself. I haven't even gotten past the Lightning Thief yet in my fancasting. I'm hung up on a few people (I'll list them):
Percy Jackson
Annabeth Chase
Grover Underwood
Clarisse La Rue
Zeus
Poseidon
Hades
Mrs. Dodds (I've got an idea but nothing settled)
The Three Fates
Charon
And many more.
I've made attempts at every character except these ones, so I need help/suggestions in order to keep going. Reblog for exposure please. Otherwise I don't know if anyone will see this. Here's the link:
Edit: Please reblog if you can! This cast list is still pretty much stuck where it always was! I need help adding names! So reblogs for exposure would be helpful!

Alex R. Hibbert and Mahershala Ali in Moonlight (Barry Jenkins, 2016) Cast: Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders, Alex R. Hibbert, André Holland, Jharrel Jerome, Jaden Piner, Naomie Harris, Janell Monáe, Mahershala Ali, Patrick Decile. Screenplay: Barry Jenkins, based on a play by Tarell Alvin McCraney. Cinematography: James Laxton. Production design: Hannah Beachler. Film editing: Joi McMillon, Nat Sanders. Music: Nicholas Britell. Coming-of-age films are the cinematic equivalent of the Bildungsroman, the usually semi-autographical "novel of education" that tracks the formative childhood and adolescent experiences of the protagonist. Dickens, for example, wrote not one but two Bildungsromane: David Copperfield and Great Expectations. In the movies, the classic coming-of-age films include Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy (Pather Panchali, 1955; Aparajito, 1956; The World of Apu, 1959) and François Truffaut's The 400 Blows* (2017). Lately, Richard Linklater has added a distinguished entry to the genre, Boyhood (2014). And now Barry Jenkins adds to the genre with Moonlight, a fine film about growing up black and gay, while deftly avoiding the double pitfall of making his film about being black or gay. There have been plenty of films about growing up black and about growing up gay and much commentary about possessing the dual stigma in a straight and/or white society. But what sets Jenkins's film apart is its avoidance of pop psychology and trite sociology: Moonlight is about being human. You don't need to have grown up in India or France to understand and sympathize with Apu or Antoine, and you don't need to have grown up in the Miami housing projects to sense why Chiron (rhymes with "Tyrone," but with a spelling that suggests the mythical centaur) is so blocked, so stubborn, so silent. Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney, who wrote the play Jenkins adapted for the film, step carefully around the clichés of the genre, especially when it comes to ascribing blame. Juan (Mahershala Ali), the drug runner who finds the young Chiron (Alex R. Hibbert) hiding from bullies in an abandoned crack house and shows him kindness, isn't entirely the heroic figure he might be. Juan becomes the fatherless Chiron's first adult male role model, but he's a poor one even though he's generous and understanding, since Chiron grows up to follow Juan's profession and even imitate some of his showy mannerisms. Paula (Naomie Harris) is a terrible mother, but she doesn't want to be: It's the drugs that Juan sells her that send her skidding off the track she desperately wants to be on. Kevin (Jharrel Jerome), Chiron's first (and apparently only) sort-of boyfriend, isn't strong enough to stand up to the taunts of the bully Terrel (Patrick Decile), so he betrays the teenage Chiron (Ashton Sanders), provoking him to violence. So the film ends on an ambivalent note with the reunion of the adult Chiron (Trevante Rhodes) and Kevin (André Holland). Are they strong enough now to provide support to each other, or are their lives going to be haunted by the damaged child that was Chiron, seen in the film's final shot? There is something a little too formulaic about that ending, I think. I'm not entirely convinced, for example, that the handsome, bulked-up, successful drug runner that is the adult Chiron would have remained celibate for so long. But Jenkins has risked much and mostly succeeded -- after all, there's that Oscar -- in crafting a film that doesn't play the blame game or rely on pat explanations and outcomes. *I'm not including the other four Antoine Doinel films by Truffaut because, like many others, I don't sense a real continuity of character between the Antoine of The 400 Blows and the Antoine of the sequels.

Analyzing "Moonlight" and "Being John Malkovich
Synopsis of "Moonlight"
"Moonlight," directed by Barry Jenkins, is a drama that follows the life of Chiron, a young African American man, through three stages: childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. The film explores his struggles with identity, sexuality, and challenging environment. The slow-paced movie allows viewers to connect with Chiron's emotions and experiences. The close-up shots and natural lighting help create an intimate, emotional atmosphere, making the audience feel Chiron's isolation and growth.
Synopsis of "Being John Malkovich"
"Being John Malkovich," directed by Spike Jonze, is a quirky comedy about Craig, a puppeteer who finds a portal into actor John Malkovich's mind. The film is fast-paced and has many funny and bizarre moments. The unique cinematography, strange set designs, and eccentric performances contribute to its humorous and surreal feel. The editing is sharp, with quick cuts that enhance the story’s absurdity. The comedy often comes from ridiculous situations and the characters' straight-faced reactions.
Analysis of a Scene from "Being John Malkovich"
One memorable scene is when Craig first finds the portal into John Malkovich's mind. It starts in Craig's dimly lit, cramped office, creating a sense of claustrophobia. As he crawls through the portal, the camera follows closely, capturing his curiosity and nervousness.
When Craig enters Malkovich's mind, the perspective shifts to first-person, showing what Malkovich sees. This change is disorienting but immerses the audience in the experience. The editing uses quick cuts and changes in perspective, adding to the surreal feel. The bright lighting in Malkovich's world contrasts with the dark office, symbolizing a shift from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
John Cusack (Craig) perfectly shows his amazement and excitement, while John Malkovich's performance adds humor. The scene is comedic but also touches on deeper themes of identity and control, showing how characters want to escape their lives by living through someone else.
Conclusion
"Moonlight" and "Being John Malkovich" use different styles to engage the audience. "Moonlight" is slow and reflective, focusing on personal growth and emotional depth. "Being John Malkovich" is fast and absurd, using humor and surreal situations to explore identity. Both films effectively use their unique approaches to tell compelling stories and convey more profound messages.

The Magnificence of the Bugatti Chiron: Top 5 Facts and Comprehensive Review
youtube
The Bugatti Chiron stands as an emblem of automotive perfection, seamlessly blending staggering speed, superior craftsmanship, and unmatched luxury. This hypercar, a successor to the legendary Veyron, has been engineered to redefine the limits of production cars, earning its place as an unparalleled masterpiece in the world of automobiles. Let's delve into the top five facts about the Chiron, offering a full review that spans its impressive speed, luxurious interior, limited production, iconic design, and cutting-edge technology.
1. Unmatched Speed
At the heart of the Chiron's awe-inspiring capabilities is its 8.0 L quad-turbocharged W16 engine, a marvel of engineering that churns out an astounding 1,479 horsepower. This powertrain propels the Chiron from 0 to 60 mph in just under 2.5 seconds, pushing it to a top speed of over 261 mph (420 km/h). In 2019, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ variant further shattered records by breaching the 300 mph barrier, clocking in at 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h), solidifying the Chiron's status among the fastest production cars in existence.
2. Luxurious Interior
Despite its focus on extreme performance, the Chiron does not compromise on luxury or comfort. The interior is a sanctuary of high-quality materials and customizable options, combined with advanced technology to create an opulent and elegant driving experience. This juxtaposition of speed with luxury makes the Chiron not just a hypercar, but a comprehensive experience of refinement and exhilaration.
3. Exclusivity in Production
To maintain its exclusivity, Bugatti has limited the Chiron's production to just 500 units, with several special editions and variants like the Chiron Sport and Chiron Super Sport 300+ adding to the car's allure. This scarcity ensures that the Chiron remains a rare gem in the automotive world, coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
4. Aerodynamic and Iconic Design
The Chiron's design is a testament to Bugatti's commitment to both form and function. Its aerodynamic shape is accentuated by the brand's signature C-shaped line, a distinctive front grille, and various elements that enhance its performance and aesthetic appeal. This design not only contributes to the Chiron's breathtaking speed but also cements its status as a work of art on wheels.
5. Revolutionary Technology
Equipped with an array of advanced technologies, the Chiron ensures optimal performance and safety. Features like a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, adaptive suspension, and multiple driving modes adapt the car to various conditions and preferences. Additionally, the Chiron is outfitted with advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking, making it as safe as it is exhilarating to drive.
Celebrity Ownership and Acquisition
The Bugatti Chiron's allure extends into the realms of celebrities, with figures like Floyd Mayweather, Travis Scott, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kanye West, and Post Malone known to own or have been associated with this magnificent car. Its steep price tag and limited availability make it a symbol of ultimate luxury and exclusivity.
Conclusion
The Bugatti Chiron is more than just a hypercar; it's a testament to what's possible in the realm of automotive engineering and design. From its breathtaking speed and luxurious interior to its limited production and cutting-edge technology, the Chiron sets the benchmark for what a high-performance luxury car can be. Owning a Chiron is not just about having a car; it's about owning a piece of automotive history—an experience that is truly beyond compare.

Module 11 Assignment: Anatomy of a Scene
Moonlight
The drama film Moonlight portrays a timeless and poignant tale of a young man's quest for love and self-acceptance; each act depicts a distinct phase of Chiron's life and the struggles and changes he faces along the way. The film has outstanding performances, a deep narrative, and an examination of thought-provoking issues.
It uses dramatic cinematography to create a visual ambiance that reflects Chiron, the main character's emotional journey. The movie is renowned for its use of personal close-ups, which let viewers empathize with the characters on a deep level. The emotional effect of the movie is enhanced by these close-ups, which highlight the minute details of the actor's facial expressions and feelings.
Similarly "Moonlight" has expert editing that keeps the story's emotional effect intact. The three separate acts that make up the film's structure let viewers see Chiron's transformation from a helpless youngster to a tough adult. The editing creates a coherent and emotionally compelling story by smoothly alternating between these levels.
Some like it Hot
As Joe and Jerry battle to keep their disguises while fending off amorous attempts from both men and women, the movie explores misidentification, genderbending, and absurd circumstances. The movie builds to a tremendously entertaining and memorable conclusion that has made "Some Like It Hot" one of the most popular comedies in movie history as the mobsters close in and the romantic entanglements get increasingly complicated.
The scene where the interaction was the sensual interaction between Tony Curtis's character, Joe, who is disguised as Josephine. In this scene, the all-female jazz band's gorgeous and slightly naïve singer Sugar Kane is having trouble applying suntan lotion to her back. Joe, posing as Josephine, takes advantage of the chance to assist her in putting on the lotion, which sparks a seductive and amorous exchange. Joe's awkward attempts to suppress his passion and keep his mask intact make for a hilarious lesson in seduction.
Additionally, The water and the surrounding shoreline serve as the scene's backdrop, which is a sun-kissed Florida beach. The characters' interactions and reactions are highlighted by the thoughtful composition of the photos. The segment is dominated by close-ups and medium views that highlight Joe and Sugar Kane's expressions and body language. The chemistry between the characters is shown in these pictures when the viewer is given a close-up look at them. In addition, the beach contributed to the romantic and relaxed atmosphere. The relaxing environment encourages the characters to let their guard down and engage in their interactions.
Similar to that, this scene's natural sunshine plays a crucial role in heightening its sensuality. The figures are bathed in a warm, pleasing glow from the sunshine, which draws attention to their features and heightens the romantic atmosphere. It shines on their skin, adding to the scene's emotional appeal.
Furthermore, this scene's effectiveness is greatly influenced by the editing. The cuts are deliberate and tactical. The impression of attraction and desire is heightened by rapid cuts between the faces of the protagonists. Close-ups of Joe and Sugar Kane highlight their emotional bond as they exchange looks and comments. Longer shots let the audience fully grasp the scene's comedy and sexiness by capturing the characters' changing dynamic.

YUTA NAKAMOTO, THE BANE OF YOUR EXISTENCE.
You couldn’t fathom why Taeyong would ever want to associate himself with the slimeball. Sure, he was the object of many girls’ wet dreams, but Yuta was vile and an absolute menace to society. Well, maybe society was a stretch, but Yuta Nakamoto was hellbent on making your life miserable and you despised him for it.
Your hatred for each other stemmed from various past events. On the first day of the semester, you felt like the parking space for your Bugatti Chiron was far too suffocating, so you took up two of them. Clearly, Yuta didn’t seem to like this, so he started an argument with you in the student parking lot. He didn’t seem to appreciate you telling him that your car could run faster than his mouth.
On another occasion, Yuta and you happened to be lab partners. You didn’t remember enough to delve too deep into the details, but in short, the both of you ended up being sent to the principal’s office and were yelled at for not being able to go a minute without getting on each other’s nerves. Although, it did amuse you that Yuta’s weak spot happened to be when you talked down on his sexual performance.
Since then, the two of you had always been on sour terms. Recently, it worsened when you were talking to Taeyong about applying for the student body president and Yuta had overheard you two. Yuta started up a banter with you, as usual, and he ended up saying something that stuck with you.
Have you ever seriously worked for anything in your life without paying your way through it?
That honestly kind of stung.
You seriously couldn’t understand why anyone would ever tolerate Yuta Nakamoto. If someone had a terrible personality, they should at least be able to make it up with their looks, but Yuta was the complete package for disaster. He had scary eyes and long hair that desperately needed a trim. Sure, maybe it was a little cute, but you still hated his guts. Nothing would ever bring you to even remotely like that cockroach, not even if he flashed one of those heart-wrenching smiles.
“Taeyong, are you coming?”
Well, speak of the devil and his sickeningly husky voice.
“Yeah, just give me a second,” your best friend responded.
“Oh, it’s her again,” Yuta mumbled, his smile fading. “Don’t you have other things to do, Y/N? Like updating your social media for the tenth time this week?”
“Yuta Nakamoto,” you started, forcing a thin-lipped smile. “I have been nothing but civil towards you, so I’d greatly appreciate it if you could reciprocate that.” A light scoff escaped your lips before you continued, “Also, I am not posting another picture until I take one with better lighting.”
“My bad. I almost forgot you’re more selective than Harvard admissions.”
You let out a sigh, deciding not to engage. Yuta had his own reputation and you had yours; thus, you realized it was best to stay out of his business so you could uphold your own. However, the longer he lingered around you like a fruit fly, the more you were tempted to snap at him.
“Don’t you have balls to play with?” you asked, trying to shoo him away.
The corner of Yuta’s lip twitched like he was trying not to laugh. He seemed to be in a good mood today.
“A dirty joke from Y/N? Never thought I’d live to see the day.” He raised his eyebrows at you, glancing at Taeyong who looked absolutely miserable. “Is she coming to the party?”
“I’m not,” you replied curtly, “but you two have fun.”
“You’re not?” a voice called from behind.
Jeong Jaehyun.
You turned to see the golden boy right behind you and Taeyong. His kind eyes softened and peered at you curiously. Even though you had gone to school with him for years and seen him almost every day, you could never get over how insanely attractive he was.
You supposed your crush on him began at the freshman welcoming party when Jaehyun fended some creepy seniors away from you and walked you back to your dorm. It was probably the bare minimum a guy could do, but Jaehyun didn’t know you or your money, helping you out of pure, genuine kindness. Oddly enough, that was rather comforting to you. That was when you first started to notice him, and as you got to know Jaehyun, you started to fall for him more and more.
“Well, now she’ll probably go to the party,” Yuta muttered under his breath.
“It’s a basketball party, right?” you asked, shooting Yuta a glare. “I don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re invited.” Jaehyun grinned at you and grabbed Taeyong by the shoulders, dragging him inside the court. “You’re a friend, after all.”
When Jaehyun and Taeyong were inside, greeting the other members (especially Jaemin, who tried to jump onto Jaehyun’s back), you were left with Yuta Nakamoto and the shocking words that Jaehyun had left behind to settle upon you. You were still trying to process what he said, letting them sink into your skin like poison.
Friend.
“Ouch.” Yuta tutted. “You’re too deep in the friendzone. I don’t know if there’s any salvation at this point, Y/N.”
The disbelief must have been clear on your face but you composed yourself quickly.
“I could care less,” you said, “and, for the record, I am going to that party.”
And you were going to look like you were ready to break hearts.
