Okay this is going of my previous post about Leo so go read that first. Also this post is like background and kind of reasoning so really make your own judgement from this post. Plus this is like 800+ words so this is gonna be a doozy.

Leo only really trusts her direct family, yes of course she loves her aunts, uncles and egg siblings. But when it comes down to it, she’ll always be looking for her dad in the crowd of people because she holds herself back from really developing deeper connections with anyone else. Which I think is in part due to the death of Trump, the lack of effort from others, others being untrustworthy and Vegetta having to leave for long periods.

With Trump’s death, I do think that when Trump died a part of Leo died. Like some people forget that Leo had to watch their best friend die while they were unable to do anything. We talk about how much of a tragedy Trumps death was, but we never talk about the effect it had on Leo. Part of the reason I think Leo doesn’t actively seek out other eggs is because she fears that they’ll die, and it’ll be her fault. Cause somewhere in her heart she believes that Trump’s death was her fault since she wasn’t able to do anything to help him.

She also doesn’t often initiate conversation with others because of how many times she is disregarded by the others. Which isn’t to say they don’t care for her but often they’ll have like 2-3 sentences of conversation and that’s it or some who don’t understand Spanish barely try to understand or give Leo the time of day. But it isn’t the case for all of them because there are a few (like Cellbit, Roier, Jaiden, Tina & Mouse) who don’t always get to see her, that do actively interact with her. However, she will always end up being the second choice (which is becoming the truth for Mouse and Tina who now actually have a child; I think Jaiden will always have Leo in mind, but it depends on how she reacts to Empanada).

All of this is part of the reason Leo doesn’t always try to initiate conversation anymore because of the effort many don’t put into trying to understand her. As well why should she give up her native language to conform to everyone else’s needs when they have the tools to understand her, they have the sign translator, and nothing is stopping them from asking chat or using google to translate. Those things just take a bit more time to do but nothings wrong with doing it cause at least then they’re trying.

Along with all this only recently (excluding festa junina), when the election arc was ending and before the eggs went missing was, she actively seeked out her extended family on her own, like Roier, Cellbit and Richas without their prompt. Which is a big step since she’s hasn’t actually done that without Foolish in months, practically ever since Trumpet died. (Yes, sometimes others do her tasks, but this part isn’t about tasks. Also, that’s usually a desperate situation in which Leo has to rely on others if Foolish isn’t on and her admin still is in school so she can’t be active all the time. So tasks don’t really count here cause she’s just trying to survive).

With Vegetta she understands why he’s not around because that’s all she can do. She has never doubted that he doesn't love her, but she does miss him. I think because Vegetta was such a fierce protector of his family, she did feel a bit threatened by others when he wasn’t around. Because Foolish isn’t taken seriously and Vegetta was always respected due to his fierce protectivenesses. So, without Vegetta who isn’t afraid to strike back on people 10x harder, it can be hard for her to feel truly safe interacting with others because of how aware she is of the situation and feelings surrounding her parents.

She is truly content being just with Foolish and seeing others on the occasion but I do think she was tired of trying only to be met with failure and learning that you can’t always trust everyone on the island. She’s not blind to how everyone treats Foolish so she is always aware of Foolish’s warnings about others and from watching that she’s can’t trust everyone here like the other eggs do.

Plus, when she comes back, she’ll witness it herself again if she notices some of her things are missing and if Bad asks Leo to share her NINHO room. Which is unfair to her because they wouldn’t dare do that to another egg. Like they might not know it’s her stuff but they could ask Foolish before hand to prevent that risk of taking her things yet they don’t. Also with the NINHO they can build a temporary NINHO solutions somewhere else (like normal protected houses such as Ramon’s or Phil’s house). The solutions aren’t hard to do if they put their heads together and think, but they just don’t want to put in the effort. But even with the NINHO room she might agree to it (even though she shouldn’t) if Foolish isn’t there because I don’t think she’ll be honest about her feelings with anyone but Foolish or her direct family(if pressed) cause others have never really listened to or understood Leo’s emotions before.

Really the conclusion to all this is that Leo has never been able to honestly express her feelings to others because she’s learned not to trust them and they’ve never actively tried to understand her more than surface level. But she’s a child so how is she even able to communicate this when the communication and understanding is the problem.

Overall I'm tired of people not seeing Leo for what she is and that is a happy child despite the struggles she continues to faced due to the disrespect, lack of effort from others and loneliness from having to struggle with all of this as a child.

Update time...actually, why should these be titled? I mean, whats the point of writing a title to these if all I’m going to do is ramble on and on with no specific topic of discussion, just several things on my mind?

Election day 2020 happened yesterday and I voted for nobody. And if I would have voiced my polling choice I would have voted for the candidate I see as being the best option in line with my thoughts and opinions concerning the state of the world at the moment as well as the future.

You can insert whomever you want to believe that would be based off an assumption and a look at my internetting footprint, but you would be wrong, but that’s part of the fun of interpreting what I’m writing down for you in the future. Trying to figure out what I’m actually saying. While it makes complete sense to me, because you don’t have the hidden key phrase you can’t decipher what it is that I am putting to digital paper.

I get it, I’m an asshole.

And this isn’t, completely, a justification towards my actions but a direct result of your intervention within my life that has caused this behaviour. Think of it sort of like a self-fulfilling prophecy. You interpreted me, came back, and intervened in any little way imaginable. Negatively or positively, but no matter your justification, it was still an intervention that didn’t need to happen because, as Malcolm once said, “Life, finds a way.” And just like destiny, it will find a way. And that’s why I’ve chose not to be PC in this thing, whenever I feel the urge to put pen to paper, relatively speaking.

Like, let’s see who I can offend right off the bat.

Women need to start getting punched more and treated like human beings instead of china dolls. If you’re a pro-gender equality advocate, and you’re a woman, you need to be willing to be punched in the face for doing ANYTHING a man would otherwise be punched in the face for. They also need to be held accountable for the shit they do to everyone. I am a strong supporter in believing that no matter what women say about women controlling the government and such, while women have great communication skills, they have the worst track record when it comes to not being aggressive, biologically speaking.

In the wild, whom are normally the more aggressive of the genders? Whom is usually the one more protective of the young? more willing to go out to hunt?

To be fair, I have a very limited knowledge when it comes to the animal kingdom. But, I mean, the Black Widow is normally depicted as being a deadly female, the female preying mantis devours the head of her mate after they’re done mating. There are so many, example, of females being worse than males in nature its hard to ignore. And, to add religious believers to the list of people offended, if you’re not ignorant to science and knowledge, or at least the pursuit of it, we evolved over a long period of time from apes, which, by nature, makes us, humans, not white people, black people, yellow people(to stick to the color scheme), brown people(gotta throw the other Asian people’s in there as well), animals. Highly evolved and communicative animals, but animals none the less. Was that supposed to be one word? Nonetheless?

Doesn’t matter. So, if you stick with my logic, you’ll see that women are terrible. Terrible. But, because men like to have sex with females as opposed to men for the most part in today’s society women have a stranglehold on the pelvic reason of an entire world, which means they can make anyone, for the most part, do anything they want and see things their way, even if they’re saying the sky is as green as the skies of Namek. An example of this is perfectly laid out in a clip from That 70′s Show. Kelso and Hyde prove women can’t play fight because they’ll turn it real, for whatever reason, just because they’re girls. To prove this, Kelso and Hyde play fight, and it looks bad, but they stop, laugh, and hug it out. Then Jackie and Donna play fight, starting out playfully, but then turning it into hair pulling and needing to be pulled apart. Both visibly angry.

And I get it, they’re actors, being paid to do what the script is telling them to do, but it is true. Girls are worst during puberty as well, from what I’ve heard. And I get it, I have a biased standpoint being a male, but in today's culture that shouldn’t matter, it’s about what’s being said, not my gender.

Now that women are out of the way, lets also as black people, but not specifically black people, its more of a systemic form of racism that I believe shouldn’t exist. In which, if you are not of that specific race, you are not allowed to say the n-word. What makes me giggle right now is that with just that sentence every single person reading this probably got a bit riled up. A bit ruffled in the feathers because I’m not a black person. And if you weren’t, you are now, knowing what you know now.

So let me provide you with some context so you can understand how I’m not racist at the same time as saying what I said above.

I enjoy rap music and hip-hop, as do a lot of people throughout the world, black or otherwise. Which, in this current climate, would be considered one of the forms of cultural appropriation we tend to sweep under the rug because it doesn’t fit our narrative of being offended about something. Because I like rap music I tend to learn the word to all of the songs I enjoy listening to. Because I learn the words to the songs that I enjoy listening to I sing along. But, because I’m not black, I have to ruin my flow to edit myself just because the artist chose to use nigger in their song. Which, as an artist, is their choice.

Now, why should I have to edit myself? I have tried to replace it with “wigger”, but because of the closeness of the words, I felt that would still be offensive if I was ever overheard by the wrong black person who, understandably, would be mad if they heard a pasty white boy say the word nigger without any context.

I just think, unless the person is using the word in a hateful way, directed at the person the speaker either personally knows or is conciously speaking about, as in “i hate that nigger” or “you’re a nigger”. If it’s something like that, totally beat the shit out of that racist.

But if you’re singing along to Wu-Tang, and you say:

Oh, I almost forgot. I was going to tell you whom it was I was going to vote for yesterday if I had voted for anybody. Jokingly I wanted to write-in “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. But in truth I was going to vote for Biden. Not because I thought he was the better candidate, but because there was not a good option at all, he was just the lesser of two evils. This election has made me decide I want a third option when it comes to my politicians, or at least, get rid of political parties all together. We spend so much time infighting and holding each other back instead of up no real change has happened in the past decade? Longer? And whatever change that does happen gets nitpicked apart so much it becomes a shell of its former self. But, enough about that. I have a baby demanding eggs and waffles and I still need to tag this.

We’re not as skeptical as we think we are

I say this as a left-winger: We on the left can’t prop ourselves up as more rational/enlightened/skeptical than those on the right unless and until we’re willing to apply that skepticism to stuff that fits our own world view. 

Just because I think it’s entirely plausible that a thing has happened doesn’t mean I get to take it on faith that it has. I still need to do some fact checking. In the case of news articles, that means finding the primary source - and if no primary source is provided, treating it with a truckload of salt until such time as an independent source to the first confirms it.  Seriously. We live in a world where groups like Project Veritas, a right-wing organization dedicated to trying to scam what it deems “liberal” media into biting onto false stories in order to discredit them, actually exist. In the past few months, several big-name news orgs have fallen victim to this sort of thing. Don’t believe everything you read - cuz the far right knows that its side believes fake news with all the credulity of a child believing in the tooth fairy and they want to paint us with the same brush.  I’ve seen 4 different false stories sympathetic to a left-wing viewpoint come across my dash in the past two weeks, and one suspect one that is currently unverifiable and therefore I’m treating with a metaphorical truckload of salt. Do better, left-leaning Tumblr folks. If we claim to have better bullshit detectors than the right-wingers, we need to actually have better bullshit detectors, not just be more likely to call bullshit on stuff that doesn’t fit our pre-conceived notions. Because, yes, most of the genuinely fake news (read: propaganda) out there is actually intended for right-wing consumption, but increasingly scammers and those with some end in mind are targeting left-wing audiences for that shit, too. 

How do you do better? Here’s a few guidelines: 

Don’t trust anything that doesn’t cite a primary source. Primary source is a thing like a government report, scientific data, or video or audio or eyewitness account of the event in question

As a side note to this: Sources which provide copies of the primary source(s) in their original, unedited forms have the best credibility. Those which provide excerpts of the primary source(s) have middling credibility, and those which do not provide any of the primary source(s) and instead take a “trust us, it’s bad” attitude have the least credibility.

Exception to the above: Cases where the primary source is censored or edited out of consideration for the subject of the story. Like in the Boston bombing, how most news outlets blurred out images of the most graphic injuries. Some things you don’t need to see in full color to know they’re real. Use your own judgement on this one.

Look for the source of the claim. Often times you’ll have a chain of citations in the media (this happens in science, too!) where you’ll get an article citing an article citing an article citing an... etc. Often by the time you follow the chain to the source, the story has changed significantly from what you first found. I’ve literally seen the take-away in the original scientific article be literally the opposite of what was claimed at the end of the chain of citations before. It’s like that game of telephone - with every layer away from the primary source, someone adds their own interpretation. By the time you’re 4 or 5 layers away, it could be unrecognizable. 

Look for independent confirmation. Are two or more news outlets saying the same thing happened citing different primary sources? That’s a lot more credible than if it’s just one. Alternatively: If a single news outlet is citing two or more primary sources, all of which cross-validate and is willing to post the raw files to their cite as validation, that’s also far more credible.  

Look into the reputation of your source. Some sources are just more credible than others - they simply do a better job of fact-checking. These sources often are a bit drier to read because they tend to be cautious about introducing too much bias or spin to the story - but that caution on its own means they’re more diligent about fact-checking and don’t publish anything until they’ve got confirmation. A source which has a history of breaking false or inflated stories shouldn’t be trusted as much as one that has a history of successfully thwarting attempts to get them to do so (and most will be somewhere in between). 

Consider the nature of the claim. Carl Sagan famously said, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” The corollary of this is that ordinary claims require ordinary evidence. If a news article is breaking about something fairly common and ordinary - say, someone won first prize at a provincial competition that was known to happen that day - a photo of the beaming gold-medal winner on the podium is likely going to be enough evidence to support it. If it’s breaking about something extraordinary - say, a vast, far-reaching conspiracy to manipulate the results of a federal election in the world’s largest superpower - that’s going to require much more and better evidence (and by now, it does have it. Literally hundreds of independent articles supporting that have been published with probably thousands of hours of work going into them). A story somewhere in between - say, a far-right group setup a honeypot scheme to try to discredit a mainstream news outlet - is going to require evidence somewhere in between (in that case, evidence of inconsistency in the story, that the honeypot agent wasn’t who she said she was and didn’t have the past she said she had, and finally proof that she was associated with the group in question and leaked emails that she was part of the group aiming to discredit that organization was sufficient for me to accept that story - especially since the Washington Post provided copies of all their primary sources).
