Summary: They should be used to desperate people making horrible decisions by now, but somehow it always goes too far before anyone does anything about it. A person fell prey to the empty promises of dark, powerful hearts to become Arcta Knight. As they make their mark on Dreamland, Meta Knight grows anxious about the encroaching danger and leaves suddenly to prepare for a duel like no other.

Meta looked up at the Dimensional Mirror. It stood tall despite the damage. He pressed his palm to the largest intact surface and awaited his doppelganger from the other side. He winced at the wound, the pain creeping over his senses now that the adrenaline was no longer dulling it. He held it, stifling the blood a little.

He felt something grip his hand from the mirror and he returned the grasp. Dark Meta Knight grabbed the frame of the mirror with his free hand and pulled himself out from the narrow portal.

“So that’s her.” Dark dusted the bits of glass off of him, clinging to him from the broken edges of the portal. Meta nodded, putting more pressure over the wound. Dark looked over at him and scoffed.

“I would have killed you.”

“I don’t know why she didn’t.” Meta said, biting back the pain. Dark didn’t respond. He knew less than Meta did, he couldn’t begin to explain it either. Meta Knight stepped past Dark and approached the end of the platform.

“Well, she fled again. We can worry about it after we get the others up to speed.”

“Others?”

“We can’t do anything without a ship.” Meta left it at that, dropping through the clouds. Dark grumbled under his breath, following after him.

Descending from the land in the clouds, Dark and Meta dropped into the eerily silent kingdom of Dreamland. Meta returned to his perch on the balcony, overlooking the empty streets of Cappy Town while Dark perused the throne room behind him.

“A whole kingdom to yourself. Hell of a trade.” Dark said, sitting heavily in Dedede’s large throne. He kicked his feet up over the arm rest. Meta ignored him, looking out for the Lor Starcutter.

Arcta gave him something to reach for. Before knighthood. He didn’t dwell that far back very often. It felt like a mere second in time at this point. He had been fighting for Popstar as long as he could remember. Training and aiding Kirby ever since the little warrior arrived. Serving Dedede far before that.

His days as a trainee weren’t significant. He trained hard. Reached his goal and subsequently left to fight for good. Among the Star Warriors of all creeds. There wasn’t much he could recall from those days. Much less anyone with a harlequin mask.

No… that was far before his own mask.

A sudden pain pierced through him and he sucked sharply on his teeth, gripping his side. He was so distracted he nearly forgot. Meta pulled his cape around him as he walked, several droplets of blood lingering on the balcony where he was.

"You need to start training.” He muttered to Dark as he passed behind the throne. Dark lazily swayed his legs and hummed to feign thought.

“No.”

Meta shook his head, leaving him behind. Extra swords were all he needed. Anyone who could take her on while he had her attention. That was the plan for now. Should she appear again before he has the chance to do something better.

He held his side as he gingerly made his way down the empty halls of the castle. A slow crawl through the once lively space. As he passed the vacant rooms where his soldiers once made home, he turned a somber gaze to the floor. It was merely days since he spoke to them last. Merely weeks since Cappy Town had their last NME catastrophe. Kirby putting a stop to it and learning how to better wield his powers.

He staggered, the pain momentarily slowing his progress.

At the time, he had wondered why it was so quiet. It was a calm before a terrible snowstorm. Meta could feel the ache of sorrow pricking at his throat as the tears started to fill his eyes.

They were all gone. If they hadn’t held her back she might have descended upon the town.

Meta attempted to shake off that thought. He didn’t want to entertain it at all. Once he reached the infirmary, he dug through the cupboards and drawers for bandages, leaning up against the counter and removing his armor to begin dressing the wound. He could feel the blood beginning to soak his garments.

He closed his eyes tightly as another pang radiated up his torso. He lowered his head and groaned as he pressed the wound once more, cleaning it and pressing a thick dressing to it in place of his hand. Sharp curses hissed past his teeth, repeatedly, until the bandages were fastened in place.

For that to be his only wound didn’t sit well with him. Nothing about Arcta did.

Holding his helmet in his hands, Meta sighed. It was marred with scuffs and cuts, the cloudy silver offering a blurry reflection back to him. He looked it over for a moment, sitting alone in the hall just outside the throne room. The sounds of metal on stone rang out ahead, Dark slashing at the stone pillars to hone his skill.

Meta leaned on the wall, rolling his head back against it and allowing the lonely breeze to cross his face. He wasn’t sure he was ready to don his helmet just yet. He had a fair assumption that Dark would cease his practice if Meta joined him. And he wasn’t in the best condition for the kind of sparring he might want. So he remained in the hall.

A much needed break from his mask and title.

He slid down until he sat on the floor, setting his helmet beside him and closing his eyes. Resting a moment while his side still ached. Listening to Dark as he cut into the stone.

A raucous, screeching laughter shattered Meta’s rest, causing him to bolt upright and hiss at the pain the motion brought. He put his helmet back on and carefully stood, pulling his cape tight and taking a breath, smoothing over his nerves.

“Dark. They’ve arrived.”

“I heard. I’m pretty sure the whole planet heard.” Dark grumbled, hauling himself out of his comfortable place on the throne. The walls of the throne room were destroyed. Something to be dealt with later.

The Lor Starcutter rested in the hanger, a star shaped portal closing behind it. It appeared like any sea faring ship, a topsail, a mast, three oars in each side. But it sailed through space and dimensions as easy as any ship could sail the ocean. Meta and Dark approached just as Magolor and Marx disembarked.

“Any word from Halberd?” Meta asked the one in a blue and clockwork cloak. Though their face was hidden, bright cat-like eyes shined from beneath the hood.

“I dipped in this dimension a couple times on the way here. No word.” Magolor said, shaking his head.

“I see… Then we’ll have to split priority. Captain Vul should have sent some update…”

“Doesn’t the kid have some kinda history with you two? Maybe he put them off answering.” Dark suggested, stepping beside Meta. Magolor tilted his head at him, his ears falling to the side as he studied the doppelganger.

“Hm,” he blinked at him, “well, I suppose. But I would assume Meta Knight told them of our little alliance. And, besides, we made amends since then. He’s a forgiving kid.”

“I told you we shoulda tricked him.” Marx giggled, balancing himself on a ball as he rolled up to the conversation.

“He would have just eaten the letter if we put “Open for free food” on it.”

“How’re we sure he didn’t eat it anyway?”

“W— uhm…” Magolor scratched his chin, his ears falling behind his head, “good point.”

“You didn’t try video communication? Halberd is equipped with the hardware.” Meta said, cocking a brow. Their reliance on paper letters was beginning to concern him.

“We attempted actually, but something is blocking the signal. We attempted to reach you as well before we arrived.”

“Yeah! We thought it was just them, but it was you too!”

“What do you mean?” Meta folded his arms and frowned. Marx bounced on his colorful ball, circling the trio as he bounded and laughed. Off in his own world as he often was. His hat jingled and chimed as he playfully pranced.

“What! What indeed! Try calling the Halberd and you’ll see!”

if it wasn’t obvious this account is dedicated to obey me, I’ll primarily be posting edits of chibi cards (ie; making them translucent) which will come one a week depending on the card. If what I’m working on is one of the brothers chibi cards where they have one for each sin it’ll take around a week, where as if it’s one where it doesn’t have any other sin types it’ll only take 1-2 days depending on how high my pain is. Other things I may post include - userboxes, dividers, moodboards based on cards, art, and rambles!

Major Update/Huge Rant:

So, the recent update broke my game again. Every time I loaded The Sims 4, the UI would change size, and the buttons would only half appear. I tried to use the Better Exceptions Mod to see if it was one of my other mods, and I took out all of the out of date mods, but it was still doing it. I took out my whole mods folder, and it was still doing it. Then I opened CurseForge, and it said I still had mods installed. So I had to uninstall The Sims 4, delete the entire folder, then reinstall to solve the problem. Stupid me forgot to take out my Saves and Trayfiles so everything is gone - LEPacy Save, Vanessa and Harley, Goth Makeovers, the lot. Also, stupid me never kept backups, so I have no way to restore anything that I deleted.

Before everything broke, I had edited screenshots of Harley's Young Adult makeover and 3 weeks of Outdoor Retreat Gen. However, because the Save is gone and I cannot play anymore, I have decided to take a break and will probably restart the LEPacy Challenge from Gen 2 later in a new Save (possibly with new Sims, I don't know yet).

In the meantime, I have started playing Sims 3 again and downloaded Sims 4 Base Game for console. I have enjoyed playing with no mods and very few/no packs. So, I have decided to create my own Save File. This will include townie makeovers, rennovations of all residential lots, more community lots, and filling empty houses with new sims/families. It will take some time seeing as there are a total of 270 lots (yes, I have counted) in all worlds currently, and there will probably be more by the time I have finished. But, I have learned my lesson and will definitely back up my save regularly this time.

Because I want all of you to be involved while making the Save File, I will post regular updates, including builds and sims, and ways for you to get involved or give me ideas. Small tangent: does anyone know if you can create a poll on Tumblr? If so, how?

This ended up being a much longer post than I thought it was going to be (and I expected it to be quite long), but I just wanted to give you all an update on what is going on in my game and what is coming to my Simblr. Also, I just want you to know that I do see your comments and tags, and I really appreciate all of it even if I do not respond (I am going to be better at replying).

Who am I ?

I'm Klaus and I use he/they pronouns, a teacher at the Pokemon Academy in Santalune City (Neuvartault), Kalos. I'm originally from Johto but I moved here just before I started the Gym Challenge. And I'm in my mid-twenties.

I am still a trainer, but it's not a big thing anymore for me and my team. They enjoy battles every once in a while, and are fine if they don't (except Marie)

Also, you can ask things to my Pokémons (or myself of course !)

Nido, the docile Nidoking, he is my first Pokemon and is always out when I'm teaching (tag : #nido the nidoking ) Marie, the brave Quadsire, she really loves battling, I use her every time a student asks me for a training battle (tag : #marie the quagsire ) Piotr, the serious Persian, he is always serious, and for some reason, he is the one my students prefer the most (tag : #piotr the persian ) Talia, the rash Umbreon, she likes being pet, like she really likes being pet, and will be grumpy for a while if you stop just for 2 seconds (tag : #talia the umbreon ) Lerouge, the relaxed Skarmory, he likes sleeping and flying, and he is a rescued pokemon. All pretty normal (unfortunately for the rescued part) things for a Johtonian Skarmory (tag : #lerouge the skarmory ) Charline, the adamant Gogoat, she is the only Pokemon I caught in Kalos, she only likes me and lets no one (except me) pet her (tag : #charline the gogoat )

If anyone wants to know, I'm considering that 100 pokedollars = 1 euro. Because I went reading on some french forums where people discuss to know how we can convert pokedollars into euros. I found that's just easier to do 100 pk$ = 1€. Pokeworld economy is a nightmare when converts in our world

Just a few things; 1) I'll be slower to respond to anything and I'll interact less with any kind of high-stakes plot, bc I can't do it that much and no everything is set down in my life, I still need to plan like 5/6 medical appointments and I hadn't had any news about them for about 2 weeks, so I'll need to go easy on a lot of things (bc like a lot of people here, rp is one of my escapism) 2) I could disappear again, I'll try to say it before doing it -but most of the time when I disappear it's because I'm triggered -and I don't have a lot of clues why some things trigger me or even what triggers me. But I'm actively trying to take care of my mental health

(before reading i would like to say i accidentally talked too much and it accidentally became possibly a vent??? no matter what u get a cookie for 0 reason but bc i said so. if u want to u can just delete the ask and not even look at it or whatever. i would prefer if you didnt post this ask itself and if u respond to it do it in a separate post. Edit later: I was going to ask a question relating to all this but I forgot it and honestly im not going to just delete all of this which is a lot. my stance on the “dont post this” has changed and it would be ok just add any tags u think are needed??)

sorry about this really long message /gen i just never talk to anyone about this and got a little too deep into talking about it all.

no clue if this can be answered but i have NO clue who to talk about this to (if you know anyone who could answer this better please direct me to them!!). back when i was younger, i had an emotional attachment to my (not legally back then) adopted siblings. they were related to me by blood, as cousins and their mom had just given them to us randomly and we decided to take them in. i loved them so much. and she took them away from us, just to put them up in another home and another and eventually they ended up in the foster care system and she went to jail.

now, i was in an awful state during this time where they weren’t with me. before then, my mental health had been pretty good, no meltdowns/tantrums/etc and anger issues weren’t a problem. but when they were taken, i got worse and worse pretty fast. Everything started going downhill and I would always be getting in trouble at school, at least one problem every week if not more. This was around maybe second or third grade? Not sure.

Started getting attached to books and minecraft youtubers to try and help this all out, but all that happened was just an obsession for the rest of my life and nothing else. All my anxiety & stress and whatever else were a cause of this experience but I never even think about this anymore and it doesn’t make me feel much looking back (besides misery and wanting to cry about something that isnt even a problem anymore), i just wish i could tell my past self they would come back.

They’re back with us and have been legally adopted for maybe 2 years now? I don’t remember. My anger issues are getting easier to handle, but I still snap at people sometimes and some people have assumed I have BPD, which I’m pretty sure I don’t have. Even my cousin thinks I have BPD.

During this time, I had been in a girl scouts group that my mom made and everyone in the group had left us because I was (and i quote, paraphrased but i remember this well) “weird and different” and because of my anger issues. Which back then, I had no diagnosis’s for anything and now looking back it’s an even worse memory since turns out I’m ND. Oh and I also sleep deprived myself when my siblings were gone and now i have insomniiiaaa

again sorry for the really long ask, have a good day and I dont know how to end this since I accidentally just vented to someone who doesnt even know me sorry :(

It's really okay. There's nothing weird about you. You were in a shitty situation where you had no control, and changes like this during formative years can have a big effect. It can absolutely be traumatic.

I'd say it might be a good idea to look into emotional regulation issues, and maybe CPTSD, which has a lot of traits in common with BPD. You might want to look at DBT therapy, there's workbooks you can do yourself and I've found them really helpful

I came from a site called Pokéheroes.

I haven't played any gen 8 games because I don't have a Switch, so I'm not versed in anything SW/SH/don't have a particular attraction to most gen 8 mons.

I wasn't raised with LGBTQA+ stuff, though I knew of being Gay/Lesbian and thought I was Lesbian because I didn't know about Asexuality until I was an adult!

(Never acted on it, so I haven't really found what I like other than being Ace!)

Though I have also learned you can be Ace, but still want to be with someone, you can still be Bi, straight, gay, lesbian, pan, poly etc...Romantic and sexual love are two different things!

So I'm Ace sexually, but may be Bi or Lesbian romantically, if that makes a lick of sense!

So pardon me if I'm a little old fashioned with some things/misgender stuff.

I'm good with the sexuality stuff for the most part, but most other things make my head spin!

Also, I CAN get aggressive, so if I "roar in your face", I usually mean no harm/don't take it personally!

I have trouble wording things, and have less of a filter when tired as well.

I usually don't tag stuff unless its my post/the previous person had a TW on there, it will fluctuate, and I usually prefer to re-blog with a comment in the comments section to using tags if I have something to say.

who did you first notice in tbz and why? Hmm, this is hard to say. Before I was a deobi, I saw moots talking about Sunwoo and Changmin because they biased them, and I also heard of Eric (and his friendship with Felix) from said friends, and also learned that there's two more English speakers called Jacob and Kevin. I then got shipped with Younghoon once so I looked up their profile to look at him (and the others). Then I decided that Chanhee is the one who catches my eye most and called him /a bias/. After that, I noticed Hyunjun because of his airport fashion that I adored. And eventually it was Kevin and his cute self as Simply Kpop MC who caught my eye so much that I decided to stan (he's still my bias while Chanhee is my most dangerous bias wrecker haha). But honestly, I'm not sure which member I noticed first as I heard of some members through friends and not because I noticed them on my own - soooooo, you guys decide, idk.😂👉🏻👈🏻

favourite laugh in tbz? 1 unpopular tbz opinion? hmm, I don't think this is an unpopular opinion?? But idk what would be one since I don't really keep up with fandoms' opinions as I focus more on the artists (fandoms - in general - can be toxic, so I prefer not to engage too much and keep fangirling among my friends/mutuals - in a space where I feel comfortable and safe to express myself), so I'll just talk about /an opinion/ - not knowing whether it's unpopular or not akdkskd. So, tbz are still a bit of an "underrated" group, they've gained a lot of new fans through RTK (edit: I wrote this - all questions - before kingdom) but still, I feel like they deserve more recognition, especially for their performances. I feel like they're one of the best 4th gen performers (I will never forget RTK Reveal stage and Reveal/Checkmate MAMA stage - Hyunjae and Sunwoo going up on that thing - that I don't know what it's called in English - is SO AMAZING, LIKE WHUAT??? Honestly, these will always belong to my favourite performances because it was seriously mind-blowing.

which tbz member is most similar to you? I actually rewrote this answer because I always thought it was Kevin... I still believe we have lots in common but I recently found out that - astrology wise (according to the pattern app) - I'm /very similar/ to Jacob!! The pattern app tells you how similar you are to other people based on your birth charts and there's similarity levels from: very different < somewhat similar, but mostly different < similar < very similar and I kid you not, I've probably looked at my similarity level with at least 100 people (idols, family members, friends) and while I've gotten "similar" with lots of people - Kevin for example - I've only gotten "very similar" with 3 people so far. And one of those 3 people just so happens to be Jacob, so wow! I had no idea that we're that similar based on our charts - but I guess our air sun and shared Leo rising and also shared Virgo & Pisces placements make it make sense ෆ╹ᴗ╹ෆ sorry for the ramble, I'm still so overjoyed with being so similar to him🤚🏻😭

OK first is hunters, I used to never shut up about this story (it still is my most full story tag 💀) but I haven't talked as much about it lately I feel? Here's main cast my beloveds

Hunters is a monster of the week style monster hunting story about 4 humans protecting their city from magical threats! Honestly pls read the s1 villain summaries after this they're my beloveds even if I don't have any extra interesting things to talk about with them on this post 😭💞

Anyways THE HUNTERS THEMSELVES from left to right that's gabby, an 11 year old girlscout who has a sword and is super motivated and wants to do EVERYTHING but can't cus she's 11 and ppl won't let her 😔

then there's peter who a 40 year old depressed museum worker/weaver who honestly didn't ask to be here but who gets dragged along by gabby and genny. They hang out with gabby because they has a cookie addiction, are a mentor figure to her (for girlscouts related volunteer reasons), and also cus she was kind of the only thing keeping them alive pre-story (gabby doesn't know this tho and peter ain't telling her.) Peter is kind of the kind of person who likes to lone wolf their own things, so they struggle to get along with genny and gabby who both have very dominant leaders personalities.

Next is hash, ultra anxious 15 year old girl, she's an artist a lesbian and a nervous wreck but she likes monster hunting because shockingly it makes her feel more in control of her life (she's scared out of her mind of monsters, but she's also terrified of her home life and at least monsters she can like, hit with a sword or genuinely run away from.) She ends up being the introvert adopted by all the other three, gabby becomes her best friend, genny metaphorically adopts her cus she's baby (genny was originally mean to hash cus she saw herself in her, but at some point gens was like 'wtf am I doing this is literally just a pathetic incredibly stressed teen I should be protecting her not making her life worse'), and peter LITERALLY adopts her a little ways into s2 (she kind of starts living with them late s1 but adoption wasn't a super easy process :P.)

And finally genny tall queen, single mom of a 3 year old (and then later a second fish baby who she found dead in a sewer who got resurrected with fish magic, long story) who is very very sweet to kids being a tutor and mother, but who will absolutely kick adult villains asses lol. She's honestly generally kind of mean at first, but it's mostly cus she's self conscious and needs everything to be perfect so she can kind of put others down to try and make things everyone's fault but her own. Ah don't worry, she gets character developement :3

Peter also gets a boyfriend at the end of season 1 (said boyfriend being the villain who was trying to seduce peter by fighting his "family" (the other hunters) for the first season. I'd say he has bad taste by that description but tbf prince has a whole arc or whatever. Why am I saying or whatever he's literally my favorite monsters223 character 😭 ohg this post isn't about him tho.) Prince is a ghostly boi from the underworld whos just absolutely head over heels for peter. Hes a demon history and language nerd, a romantic dork, and a good cook although he's not always up to it cus he has ~chronic pain~. Yeah hes in that villain post I linked if u wanna look at him beautiful face [edit: WAIT U HAVE SEEN PRINCE I FORGOT HIM FACE IS MY ICON :O ]

He is a character I used to plan on never talking about but then randomly became a deranged amounts of obsessed with (/pos) and then drew 8 million times and like wrote out his whole life story and stuff which u do not have to read cus I wrote it one night at 3 am and haven't double fact checked since so it's probably a mess LOL

He's a lil succubus lad who goes on adventures and seduces ppl, he's peppy and somewhat silly and def has a bunch of unprocessed childhood trauma (this is why I put his old math teacher on the punchability list <3) that caused his hypersexuality (not every succubus is hypersexuality, like his best friend bray is actually very sex repulsed because of being a succubus.) He has a couple longer term partners: his life partner wings whos a short ancient angel he found out sleeping in the woods when he was like 14 and has stuck with since. They're repairing a house together over by the beach (unspeakable main setting is a town in a forest which has farmland and a beach a short walk through the forest land.) There's his boyfriend Red who he's just constantly been on and off with since they were in highschool, hes a gamer boy who likes frog and is currently studying to become a highschool teacher, although that's not super important since I haven't got too much into writing adult red yet. Then Angel has been pecks boyfriend since he was like 18, but they're like part time boyfriends lol, peck visits when he can but it's taken him a hot while to convince angel to ever come back to town with non-angels and angel still isn't fully sold on spending good amounts of time there (tbf to him he is nine feet tall and kinda has overheating problems outside his part of the forest, like human society isn't exactly convenient for him.) He's a real sweetheart, he adores peck and peck adores him. Pecks most recent boyfriend is mail, who's currently my fav unspeakable character 😚 kitty mailman but not exactly in a cute little cat boy way, this is him:

So big boy!!!! Also vaguely cryptid boy, cat species generally grow up in the woods and his lil racoon face with the sideburns just adds to that vibe. Anyways hes the one of the longtime bfs (and general love interests) who peck has the hardest time seducing bcus hez very much like, a tired 40 year old man who isn't interested in sex and romance he just wants to deliver the mail and stuff buuuut he slowly starts to grow fond of peck :3. Next partner isn't a boyfriend as much, it's more of an alterous relationship but peck still calls him his boyfriend, vinnie/vignette. Mail and him are sort of partners in work (and later just partners in life in general) and he's a lil satyr mail deliverer! He's demosexual and his getting with peck was slow, he was oblivious of the fact that peck was like, ACTUALLY flirting with him at first cus he just thinks (kind of rightfully so) peck is just like that with everyone. At some point he suddenly gains consciousness and is like "wait a minute he's kind of hot hh?????" and that leads to yknow. Things. So yeah they go on dates and stuff but like I said ~alterously~ cus vinnie doesn't feel exactly romantic things in general he is just? Idk who needs labels he's just him. Boiling over is a horror (well it's half horror and half parody horror, once we get to victim gang I'm more just having a fun time bein silly with horror tropes than anything lol.) I'm not actually gonna talk about victim gang rn cus I'm mostly in a kai and vanilla mood, so I'm gonna talk about them :3

Vanilla: very cute little guy who's Marshall's beloved baby brother who would definitely never hurt anyone! Except he does 😇

he's actually the absolute worst to cayanne with a big ol smile on his face. He really likes control, he's incredibly obsessive over his brother marshall and best friend/joyfriend kath. He likes having Marshall under his thumb, not to even do anything really, he just needs his comfort person around. What leads him to do not so great things is the fear of losing his favorite people, he has frequently purposefully and secretly poisoned or injured Marshall to avoid him going on trips and to keep him trapped in the house where vanilla can take care of him and make him love his little brother more. Marshall is totally oblivious, he honestly believes that what's making him get sick is just the stress from becoming more popular and successful in his baseball career and having a lot of pressure put on him, if anything he's just so glad his sweet baby brother is helping him get through it! Kath is less oblivious, I won't get into what vanilla does to kath cus I simply do not want to, but kath is very happy to punish him which vanilla actually loves partially because he thinks he deserves to be hurt but mostly because he's a masochist. (Ps kath also sucks lol they murder and torture people :]))

Cayanne is Marshall's boyfriend, he's also a baseball player. He plays up his big ego and acts like he's the hottest shit ever, he's always confident and totally doesn't have an incredibly fragile self esteem that relies entirely on winning /s. Hes a bit of a mess and super competitive and kind of hates himself, but he always has got to be strong and cool and never break. Vanilla absolutely hates kai, because he finds kai pathetic and Marshall loves kai, which makes vanilla very jealous (of how much attention kai gets I mean, not in an incestuous way ew. Vanilla is ew in general but not in that specific field.) So umg he ends up sort of, hurting kai and threatens him not to talk abt it with black mail. But kai kind of has a very difficult relationship with pain and ends up sort of coming back to vanilla, because despite how gross he feels vanilla was the first person who made him feel like the part of him that was pathetic, a sore loser, etc. was something not just worth acknowledging but something to be prioritized and given room to be expressed. They have a veryyy unhealthy relationship to say the least, cayanne feels very guilty for it but vanilla doesn't really, frankly as far as he cares if anything ever comes out about it he'll blame kai for everything and finally get to have Marshall cut kai out of his life. To be honest Marshall would probably side with cayanne if he found out, but cayanne honestly doesn't think he would so he's afraid to speak up about anything <:)

Yes very sorry for not talking about kath and the gang 😔 to summarize the rest of the gang:

Luke is kath and vanillas friend who's spent his whole life in danger and can basically turn off his humanity because his existence is so buried is defense mechanisms. He does have a personality tho, he's pretty flirty, he likes food, he's just your average casual cool guy who you are screaming at your screen to his non murderer friends that he is OBVIOUSLY leading them on to betray them.

Kath is a depressed bastard who likes digging around in garbage and torturing people cus hearing people scream is basically all that makes xem feel anything anymore. Xe especially takes a liking to kai and nessa, but they're glad to fuck with Emory and Jake too, equality. They dont touch Marshall cus vanilla would be pissed at xem and they want to keep vanilla around. Besides Marshall is teaching them to bake, it's the first hobby they've felt any real interest in years. Oh yeah they're also with kai and Marshall on the whole baseball thing.

Victim gangggg Jake is a repressed trans lesbian who's eyesight is shit and who as such is constantly recording everything cus they see better looking through their phone camera than with their eyes (get this kid some glasses please.) They have a crush on vanessa, who's ur average scaredy cat horror girl, she likes statistics and hanging out with her gang exploring scary places. (What? She likes being scared, she may be easily freaked out but that doesn't mean it's not fun for her when she's not Literally Being Murdered lol.) Luke is also in victim gang but I already sorta talked about him, and the Emory is nessas big step brother/sibling, they're a peer pressure king and just wants people to think he's cool and brave, but because they're an absolute dumbass this leads them to dangerous stupid ass situations. Also kai is an unofficial part of the victim gang, hes their supervisor since they're all like 16 or 17 or whatever and Emorys mom is tired of him going out and getting hurt so she's patronizing them and nessa by basically forcing a babysitter on them lol.

I think I forgot to make an update here on tumblr when I pushed up chapter 17 last week, because here's chapter 18 that I pushed early today xD They're gonna be coming in fast throughout the rest of the month. I'm doing very minimal edits at this point (I'm *always* re-reading and putting in slight tweaks before publishing, too much of a perfectionist).

Summary: An overly-long prompt story written for tumblr’s @ironstrangeprompts #608: Kidnapped to play doctor for a still unseen other prisoner, Stephen realizes there is only one person on the planet who would have palladium in their blood.

Chapter 18: On and On, We Carry Through the Fears

About three weeks ago, Summer had told Stephen that she refused to get anyone else kidnapped by telling their captors that they needed scrub nurses, technicians, and other specialists. While this terrorist cell had their own anaesthesiologist to supply and a couple more medically-inclined personnel to assist, there was another core technician still needed. Both surgeons were well aware that smooth operation of a heart-lung machine for the cardiopulmonary bypass was essential for Tony's survival. And so while Stephen was busy, out of the cell with Tony at the time, Summer was ordering all the information needed for running and monitoring a heart-lung machine, as well as seeing which of the two non-surgeons wanted to be in charge of it after a very speedy course of study.

Meera had volunteered to run the machine, while Jada was left to serve as the scrub nurse. The materials to learn the heart-lung machine had arrived the same day that Stephen and Tony had their argument. The entire fallout from the argument pushed that detail about the surgery out of Stephen's mind.

But now, as he woke up two hours before they were scheduled to be taken out of the cell, Stephen was reminded of it when he saw Meera sitting on her cot, already dressed and reading one of the many pieces of material she had been given to learn in entirely too short of a time. But Stephen couldn't blame Summer for going this route. After Baar's death, he wasn't sure if he could have asked specifically for a perfusionist, either. Not if it stuck another innocent person in this hell.

He passed her on his way to the shower. "How's it coming?" he asked.

"As good as it's going to be," Meera replied, glancing up with a tight smile.

"It's all one can do," he said in turn, then left her to her last review.

Also, relationship stuff—getting to know each other, finding out likes and dislikes, learning about someone's entire secret life... that sort of thing. (Part 2 of Tales from the House of Mau.)

The Stable Master & the Diplomat - 12k, JayTim. In which Jason is the royal stable master and Tim is a draconic ambassador and there are shenanigans.

A Lonely Place for Living - 2k, gen. Batman needs a Robin. Bruce Wayne needs his son. Tim Drake needs... he needs...

Three Birds in Flight - 7k, JayTimKon. Not!fic for the sad soulmate triad Jason/Tim/Kon AOB AU I will never actually write!

Natural 20 - 19k, JayTim. Jason eats the egg, what happens after is positively magical (the sex is pretty good too). Of course, it's not all fun and games—apparently it can be very difficult to shuck off a toxic ex when they know magic. (Part 3 of Tales from the House of Mau.)

Emotional Support Trashfish - 5k, gen. Pokémon AU! When Tim finally took the plunge and brought home a pokémon of his own, none of his family understood. It could be because they didn't see the benefits of such an excellent companion, or it might just be that they lack the insight into the tricky workings of Tim's mind. (Written with the Social Isolation Gang.)

Good Boys - 7k, JayTim. A dog, two aces, and lots of cuddles. (Written with the Social Isolation Gang.)

Mark of the Jinni - 7k, JayTim. Tim frowns, hand cupping Jason's cheek as he appears to study the other boy's face. "Just because there are others doing worse doesn't mean you don't deserve better." (Chapter 2.)

May Light Shine Long and Steady - 8k, JayTim. Tim's life is in a downward spiral and he's barely staying afloat, let alone in his classes. With nothing left to lose, he figures it can't hurt to ask for a little divine help. Instead, he ends up with an overly helpful advisor of sorts.

Duckvine Intervention - 4k, JayTim. After Roy explains the purpose a rubber duck for computer programmers, Jason decides he has to try it out for himself. Granted, he's not a programmer, but he's hardly going to let that stop him, and everyone needs a little troubleshooting in their lives sometimes.

Forever and Always - 17k, JayTim. One must always be careful when it comes to swearing oaths. It is imperative that all the variables are ascertained before any words are spoken, particularly when blood is involved. If not, it could very well blow up in someone's face. Despite the unforeseen consequences, Tim doesn't regret his actions one bit. (Epilogue.)

And We Live in Dangerous Times - 2k, JayTim. Jason Todd is back and he's angry. He breaks into Titans Tower with the intention of messing with the pretender a bit. Things don't quite go as planned and it turns out both Robins II and III are in for a surprise. A dæmon soulmate AU.

Always and Forever - 4k, JayTim. Love between a potter and a painter should be a simple enough thing, but nothing is simple when you come from different worlds and there's a war on the horizon between both your peoples. Sometimes, desperate times call for desperate measures. A prequel to Forever and Always.

Rituals of Sacrifice - 22k, JayTim. All Tim's friends are dead. That's okay—he is too. PLEASE pay attention to the warnings/tags as this story deals with distressing and mature themes.

WWCSD? - 6k, JayTim. There's a mysterious thief on the loose and Stray must ask himself that ever-important question—What Would Carmen Sandiego Do? (Part 4 of Cats, Birds, Bats, and the Occasional Spoiler.)

To Sail 'twixt the Stars and the Sea - 13k, JayTim. When a message arrives saying that the Bat Clan's scout ship has been destroyed behind enemy lines, everyone knows there's no chance its lone passenger has survived. Unfortunately, someone still has to break the bad news to the scout's lover... and the child the rest of the clan didn't know he had. The SPACE!viking AU.

In Midst of Winter - 6k, JayTim. After being separated from his hunting party in the middle of winter, Jason is sure he's screwed—until help comes from an unlikely quarter. Through trial and error, he finds a new friend and possibly something more. More AOB!vikings. (Part 1 of Through All Manner of Seasons.)

Sidequest - 9k, JayTim. It's a busy week for Jason—his boyfriend's skipped town without notice, he's been left with an unlikely (and unnecessary) babysitter, and he's just been informed that that Date Night is still on and he's meeting said missing boyfriend's parents. (Part 5 of Tales from the House of Mau.)

Forth My Mimic Comes - 19k, gen. Robin and Oracle team up to take on a tricky case of identity theft.

Limbo: Next of Kin - 8k, gen. Sometimes it takes dying to learn who your family is. Also, dreams! (A spoooky ghost story for Halloween.) A sequel to Rituals of Sacrifice.

| A/N: So firstly, I got really carried away writing this so it's being posted a day late. Sorry! But fun fact, this means I'm posting this on my birthday, so wooh! Also if you can't tell yet, I'm a massive D&D geek (been playing for roughly five years now but I still fell like a complete noob whenever I play or DM :P). And DC has its own version of D&D (W&W/Warriors and Warlocks) and upon reading Day 6's prompt, my immediate thought was the improvised weapons mechanic from D&D. Also also, I originally intended for this fic to be MariTim (hence the tags) but I got caught up in all the platonic fun of the family playing D&D I kinda forgot to write in the shippy bits? |

| A/N cont.: Writing this was actually a massive challenge because at the start of this I had absolutely zero idea on how to write a D&D session as a ficlet. So this might be a bit more clunky and unrefined compared to my normal work (or that could just be my self-doubt talking). As I mentioned earlier, I got really carried away writing this because I love D&D so much. I would have written more but this ficlet is long enough and late enough as is. But if I were to continue this ficlet in additional parts, I definitely can already think of so many ways to improve writing this sort of fic (and maybe next time I won't forget to add in shippy stuff). Marinette, with Tikki on her shoulder, bursts into the Wayne Manor games room, barely able to contain her excitement. As the first in the room, she can't help but glance across the square conference U-table already set up with everyone's character sheets, dice equipment, other equipment, and snacks and drinks. Bounding over to her designated seat (right side, place nearest to the DM's section of the table), she pulls her chair out and sits down.

The rest of the Wayne (bat)family, including Steph but sans Alfred and Barbara, slowly filter into the room and take their designated seats. Jason takes his seat next to Marinette whilst Dick takes the seat directly opposite. Steph nabs the seat beside Jason, Damian stakes a claim to the seat next to Dick (despite it already being his designated seat), Cass sits down in the seat beside Steph, leaving Bruce to take his seat next to Damian.

Tim's the last of the family to enter. He slips into his seat, the DM's seat—as he is the most experienced Warriors and Warlocks player at the table—and grins downright ferally at his players.

He looks up at the cameras and recording equipment that is set up in the middle of the open space in the square U-table. “Hello and welcome to Plan D for Dicey, the first-ever Wayne Family Warriors and Warlocks fifth edition stream. We weren't quite expecting so many people to petition that we stream our sessions after a few people—” Tim fake coughs twice, “—Dick and Marinette—” Tim fake coughs twice again (whilst Marinette and Dick both grin and wave cheerfully at the cameras), “—rambled about their characters and some highlights from previous sessions, on Twitter. So we decided to give this a go and see how the session pans out whilst being streamed. So as a word of warning, prepare yourselves for the Venators, probably one of the most dysfunctional parties in W&W to miraculously band together.”

As soon as he says this, the rest of the table burst into grins and cheers (excluding Bruce who despite also smiling, looks like he's just aged five years). Marinette's side of the table all high five each other in their excitement.

Tim pauses for a second. “For anyone unfamiliar with who I am, I'm Tim. And as you can probably tell from the table set up, I'm the Dungeon Master for this campaign. That's because I've been playing W&W for just over five years now and have had experience DMing before. But for the rest of the players here, this is their first campaign and by extension first time playing. So before we begin our session, first let us introduce our players and their characters.” He nods to Marinette's side of the table.

She immediately slaps her hands on the table, pushes her chair out and stands, she waves at the cameras again. “Hi, I'm Marinette and my character is Nella Septa-Punctata. She's a Protector Aasimar Celestial Pact of the Chain Warlock, and she has a Sprite Familiar called Tikki. Nella's Chaotic Good and a little anxious but she tries her best to be a kind and heroic adventurer.” She then sits back down, scraping her chair back in again.

Jason raises an eye at Marinette's antics but shrugs. “I'm Jay, I play a Winged Variant Feral Tiefling Gunslinger called Rehodros. He's Chaotic Neutral, verging on Chaotic Evil at times, and he only joined the Venators because they helped save him from backstory related stuff and he ended up getting reluctantly attached to them.”

Deciding to also stand up from her chair as well as slap the table with both hands, Steph smirks at the cameras. “I'm Stephanie, my character's Speilsol Leyer, and she's a Chaotic Good Variant Human Ancestral Guardian Barbarian with the Tavern Brawler Feat. She lives for beating up bad guys and doing good, even if it goes against the law.”

Cass decides to take things one step further and moves to sit on the back of the chair, balancing it carefully as to not let herself fall. She waves at the cameras. “Hi, I Cass. Play Balabitara. Neutral Good, Kalashtar Shadow Monk.” She then sits back down on the chair normally.

With one half of the table introduced, Tim nods towards the other side of the table.

Dick winks at the cameras, “I'm Dick and I play Niriwyse, a Chaotic Good Eladrin Glamour Bard who's along for the ride and just wants to have a good time.” At that, he wiggles his eyebrows.

Scoffing, Damian glares at the cameras. “I am Damian and my character is Rokian. He is a Firbolg Circle of the Shepherd Druid and is Lawful Neutral in the sense that he believes the only laws that should be obeyed in the world, are that or the laws of nature. He begrudgingly joined this party of adventurers after they saved an animal friend of his.”

This leaves Bruce as the only one to have not introduced himself and his character yet. He smiles his Brucie Wayne smile at the cameras. “My name's Brucie and my character is called Chirop. He's a Chaotic Good Bugbear Swashbuckler Rogue. He comes across as very gruff, but he's just a big old teddy bear at heart.”

Tim coughs under his breath. “Alright, with our introductions over, let's get on with the show.” The lights in the room suddenly dim and turn a dark red shade whilst creepy echoing organ music begins to play from hidden speakers. “Last session, our brave party of seven adventurers were captured by the evil Lich Dreldaz whilst trying to rescue the beautiful princess Theophania—”

“—Timothea!” Corrects the rest of the table.

Rolling his eyes, Tim continues. “—from the cursed castle in which she has been trapped in, by Dreldaz.” He pauses, steepling his fingers as the dim red lighting becomes a dark grey shade. “The Venators awaken, only to find themselves shackled to the walls, in individual stone brick cells and stripped of any and all equipment bar the clothes on their backs. From what you all can immediately tell upon waking, these cells are small, cold, dark and dingy. What do you do?”

The seven players all exchange glances between themselves.

“I'd like to look around my cell, see if I can find anything or if I can get an idea of what the cellblock we're in looks like?” Jason announces after a few seconds.

Tim nods. “Roll a perception check, please.”

Jason narrows his eyes Tim. He reaches towards the red and black dice set beside his character sheet and picks up the D20. He shakes the dice in his hands before rolling it into the dice box. It lands on a 7. “Alright so because I don't have my gear any more, that means I don't have my eyes of the eagle right?”

“That's right,” Tim responds.

“Mmk, that's a seven then, plus my perception modifier… Fourteen total.” Jason glances up at Tim once he finishes calculating.

Humming, Tim glances down at his Mysterious™ DM notes. “With your Darkvision, you manage to make out that there are two small barred windows on the walls adjacent to the wall with the cell door. The door luckily has a barred window in it too, but you're too far away to glean anything from peering at it.”

Marinette purses her lips and double-checks her character sheet. “Is there anything magical about the darkness in these cells?”

“Roll an Arcana check to see.” Is Tim's response.

She reaches over to the pink and gold dice set beside her character sheet and picks up the D20. She shakes the dice in her hands before rolling it into the dice box. The D20 lands on a 16. “Sixteen! Wait, plus my arcana modifier, uh…” She scans her sheet for the relevant modifier, “plus six, so that's uh… oh heck maths, uhh I think that's twenty-two total? Yeah.” She nods to herself at calculating the maths.

Jason snorts and addresses the cameras. “This is why you should stay in school kids!”

Huffing, Marinette elbows him in the side. “Fight me!”

Not evening flinching at the elbowing, Jason pats her on the top of her head. “Friendly fire, Mari! Friendly fire!”

Tim waits for silence with his best poker face on. “As far as you can tell, there is nothing magical about the darkness!”

“Really?” She furrows her brows. “Alright then.”

He smiles in response.

Dick glances down at his character sheet then up at Tim, he taps his fingers against the table idly as he speaks. “The walls of the cells are stone? So I can use my Cli Lyre to cast Stone Shape and create a hole in the stone where the metal shackles connect, which would free me, right!”

Clicking his tongue, Tim shakes his head. “Nope, you don't have your Cli Lyre on you right now, so you can't cast any spells from it.”

Cursing under his breath, Dick frantically scans his character sheet for anything. He reaches his spells and freezes and slaps the spell sheet (and by extension, the table). “Ah hah!” He crows, “I will cast Knock on the shackles!”

Tim raises an eyebrow, then looks down to flip through his spell cheat sheet. “When you cast the spell, it makes a loud knock that's audible for up to three hundred feet. Are you sure you want to cast this?”

Dick falters and furrows his brow, then glances around the table at the rest of the party. “I think I'll wait and see if anyone else has a way to escape this first? Wait we can all hear each other speaking from our cells, right?”

“You can indeed.” Tim answers.

“I got nothin',” Jason admits, putting on his Rehodros voice, which is just his normal voice but deeper and with a raspy—almost hissing—clipped tone.

Steph, using her Speilsol Leyer voice (which sounds like she's putting on a weak German accent), shrugs. “I could try breaking the shackles? I'm strong enough to do cool things like that?”

“But that will also be fairly loud.” Bruce points out, speaking with a gruff tone of voice (which is significantly different from his gravelly Batman tone of voice) for Chirop. “If I had my lockpicks, it would be easy to escape stealthily. But without them, I can't see a way for me to get out of these shackles.”

Damian wrinkles his nose. “I might be able to summon creatures, elementals, or fey but what I get is determined by the DM and may not be entirely helpful. However, I could try wildshaping?”

Tim smiles cryptically and the lighting behind him changes from dark grey to lime green. “You could.”

Damian nods. “Alright then, I will use my wildshape ability to transform into a spider.”

The lime green light fades to flickering orange-red light. “As you try to use your druidic abilities to magically assume the shape of a spider, you feel a burning sensation around your wrists, right where the shackles are. You are unable to transform and take…” Tim pauses as he pulls out his black and red dragon dice and rolls a D6 behind the DM screen. “Five points of fire damage.”

Cursing under his breath in Arabic, Damian glares at Tim. He crosses out his current hp and writes down the new amount.

Jason taps Marinette on the shoulder. “What about Nells, Mari? She got any tricks up her sleeve to escape?”

Marinette startles at that, having been chewing her lip and staring intently at her character sheet since her arcana check. She licks her lips then glances up. “I might…”

She taps a small stat block card with a pencil and turns to Tim with an intense stare. “Is Tikki nearby?”

At that, Tim grins widely and raises a finger. “That,” He says, flipping through his notes, “is a very good question.”

“Because on my notes, here it says that last session Tikki was invisible when we all got captured.” Marinette picks up her session notes journal and shows it to him.

“Would you say Tikki followed after you when you got caught?”

Marinette tilts her head to the side and Tikki whispers in her ear. Of course, the cameras inability to record kwamis means it just looks like she's thinking instead of listening to a flying red bug deity. “Yep, I would say that. I would also like to telepathically communicate with Tikki and ask if she can come and pick the locks because we gave her a spare Thieves' Tools kit last shopping session in case she needed to pick the locks during an invisible scouting mission!”

“Indeed you did, so Tikki flies over to your cell and will try to pick the locks on your door first. So roll a d20 and add Tikki's Dex bonus.” He instructs.

Marinette nods and picks up the dice, cupping her hands underneath it so Tikki can shake then roll it without it looking suspicious on camera. Tikki shakes the dice and drops it as Marinette separates her hands. The dice lands in the box and rolls a 16. “Plus Tikki's Dex mod, that's uh…” She scrambles for the Sprite Familiar statblock card, “Plus four, so dirty twenty!”

“That's enough to pick the lock. Do you want Tikki to enter the cell and try to pick the lock?” He asks.

She nods and repeats the roll with Tikki, this time rolling an eleven. “With mods, fifteen.” Tikki then returns to her place on Marinette's shoulder.

“Tikki barely manages to get the locks open. The shackles open and you land on the cell floor.”

Marinette punches the air. “Wooh! Freedom!”

Cass then waves her hand in the air. “Shadowstep out?”

Tim cocks his head to the side. “As you don't have Darkvision, you can't see outside your cell but you manage to use your shadowstep ability to escape the shackles. Then by peering out the barred window in the door, you manage to shadow step into the cellblock corridor.”

Marinette and Cass share a high-five.

“Let's go free everyone else!”

It takes them ten minutes to finish freeing everyone else, and start making their way out of the dungeon cell block. The Venators now make their way through the bowels of the castle, searching for the armoury in which all their belongings have been stored.

“As you push open the grand oak doors, the faint scent of sickly sweet rotting food and fire hits your noses. The doors reveal the next room to be a grand dining room with a long oak table, set as though prepared for a grand feast expecting many a guest. It's adequately lit but the two corners of the room above the door seem to glow with a dim greenish glow.” Tim pauses in his description as lighting changing to a dim greenish light behind him; he rolls a D8 four times (6, 7, 2, 4), behind the DM screen, followed by the rolling of a D20 four times (3, 19, 13, 18).

“Oh god…” Dick mutters,

Jason huffs. “What are you going to torture us with now, oh great DM?”

Tim smiles cruelly. “Four rays of fire are shot towards the party from somewhere within the dining room. First attack is an eight versus Chirop's AC?”

Bruce sighs in relief. “That's a miss.”

Tim continues to smile. “Mmk, the rest of the attacks are, twenty-four versus Balabitara's AC, eighteen versus Niriwyse's AC, and twenty-three verses Rokian's AC. I assume those hit.”

Damian narrows his eyes at Tim, whilst Dick winces and Cass pouts.

Tim rolls a D6 nine times, behind the DM screen. “Balabitara takes four points of fire damage, Niriwyse and Rokian both take eight points of fire damage.”

The three all jot down the damage taken.

Still smiling, like the truly evil DM that he is, Tim clasps his hands together. “Two skulls, enveloped with green flames, descend from the ceiling. One hovers over the grand table and the other hovers but the top of the opened doors, giving itself cover.” He pauses, then grins. “With the surprise round over, everyone roll initiative!”

Out of habit, all seven players, and Tikki, roll their D20s in almost perfect sync. Dick rolls an 18, Cass rolls a 9, Jason rolls a 14, Bruce rolls a 16, Steph rolls a 17 with advantage, Damian rolls a 2, Marinette rolls a 10, and Tikki rolls a 14.

“Twenty or above?” Tim asks.

“Twenty three,” Bruce announces.

Jason rolls his eyes. “Twenty-one.”

Dick grins, “Twenty one as well!”

Tim scribbles down the rolls on the initiative table. “D'awww, you both rolled twenty-one. Anyway, fifteen or above?”

“Tikki rolled an eighteen.” Informs Marinette.

“I got nineteen!” Steph exclaims.

Jotting down those rolls as well, Tim asks “Alright, anyone ten or above?”

Cass signs her roll, ‘fourteen.’

“Thirteen.” Marinette answers.

Tim glances at the initiative table, then at Damian. “And you Damian?”

Damian scoffs. “Three.”

“Okay.” Tim then rolls a D20 twice. “Chirop! You're up first!”

Bruce looks slightly bewildered. He clears his throat. “Can I grab the nearest sharp pieces of cutlery and sneak behind a chair?”

Tim nods. “Roll stealth.”

He rolls an 18. “My stealth modifier is plus thirteen, so thirty-one to stealth.”

Tim whistles, “To the rest of the Venators, it looks like Chirop just vanishes into thin air.”

“Are any of the enemies close enough that I could move into melee range?” He questions.

“There's one floating Flameskull hovering five foot in the air, with your Long-Limbed trait, it's well within reach,” Tim informs.

Bruce narrows his eyes. “I would like to stab the Flameskull with the sharp cutlery, knives are preferable.”

“Roll to hit. As knives are close enough to daggers, I'll say you can get away with adding your proficiency bonus as well.”

Bruce rolls, with advantage, a 19. “Plus my modifiers, that's twenty-eight to hit.”

“That hits.”

Bruce rolls for damage, 2. “That's two, so seven.” He then rolls for Surprise damage, 8 (5, 3), and Sneak Attack damage, 24 (6, 2, 5, 6, 5). “That's a total of 39 piercing damage. Then I'll use my bonus action to stab it again,” He rolls a 16, “Twenty-one to hit.”

Tim puts on his best poker face. “That also hits.”

“Then that'll be…” He rolls a 1. “One damage from the second attack.”

“The Flameskull you hit screeches in fury as it crumbles to bone dust.” Tim then proceeds to make a horrific screeching sound, for immersion of course.

“What the fuck, Timbo?” Jason asks, wincing.

Dick cringes. “At least you aren't right beside him! My poor ears!”

“Rip us closest seats.” Mumbles Marinette, wrinkling her nose.

“Rehodros, you're up next!” Tim announces gleefully, ignoring his suffering players.

Jason narrows his eyes at Tim, “I want to run over to the table, grab any food on the table that's not rotten, and yeet it at the nearest Flameskull.”

Tim hums, “Okay, the only non-rotten food you can find, is a block of aged cheese and a bowl of hardened sugar cubes.

Snorting, Jason cracks his knuckles. “Oh, I have to pick the block of aged cheese.”

“Roll your attack then. But make sure you only add your Dex modifier to the attack as you're not proficient in improvised weaponry.”

Jason rolls to attack and also gets a 19. “Twenty four to hit.”

Tim snorts. “Yeah, that definitely hits, go ahead and roll damage.”

Jason nods and rolls a 1D4, managing to get max damage. “Four! Wooh! Plus my Dex mod, that's nine damage!”

“You lob the cheese at the Flameskull, managing to cause a couple of cracks to form on its skull. It turns it's furious gaze to you, intending to intimidate you but the effect is somewhat hindered by the melting cheese covering half of its skull.” Tim flips through his notes and marks down the damage taken.

“Okay, then I want to grab the bowl of sugar and using my extra attack to throw that at the Flameskull, in the jaw.” Jason smirks and switches to his Rehodros voice, “You look like you've got a sssweet tooth, bonehead!” He rolls to attack and gets a 12. “Seventeen to hit?”

“That will hit.”

Jason rolls a 3 on the D4. “That's eight damage total.”

“As the bowl of sugar starts to melt from the heat of the fire, the sickly sweet scent of hot sugar begins to emanate from the Flameskull. The Flameskull does not look happy.” Tim pauses to glance at the initiative table. “Niriwyse! You're up.”

Dick glances down at his spell list and beams. “I'm going to cast Vicious Mockery. And say,” he puts on his Niriwyse voice, which is just his voice but higher pitch and with a British Estuary accent, “Green is so not your colour!”

Tim hums, then flips through his notes. “What's the spell Save DC on that again?”

Quickly checking his spell sheet, Dick answers, “DC 16.”

“Mmk,” Tim responds non-committally, before rolling a D20 twice from behind the DM screen. “That, unfortunately for you, is a nat 20. Which means it takes no damage and suffers no disadvantage. The Flameskull turns to you briefly, to cackle in your face, before turning its attention back to Rehodros.”

Dick frowns. “Aww that failed, welp I'll use my bonus action to give Speilsol Leyer inspiration.” He clears his throat and puts on his Niriwyse voice to sing. “Let's get down to business! To defeat, this skull! Did they order heroes, no they asked for none! We're the saddest party you'll ever meet! But you can bet before we're through, Flameskull, we'll make dust out of you!”

The rest of the table burst into cheers and groans.

“Beautiful, Speilsol Leyer, you get 1D10 bardic inspiration,” Tim confirms. “And now it's your turn. Show the audience what you've got.”

Steph giggles. “Okay, okay, I've got a really dumb idea.”

Tim raises an eyebrow at her.

“So, firstly, is there anything on the walls, like paintings? Wall sconces? Y'know.” She asks.

“There's a painting of a naked elven lady on one wall, and a taxidermied fox head on the other,” Tim informs.

Steph bounces in her seat. “Cool! So I'm gonna rage! Rip the taxidermied fox head off the wall, then run and leap up into the air to bludgeon the Flameskull with the fox head!”

“Right. Make an athletics roll.”

Rolling a D20, she gets 13. “Twenty one!”

“You manage to jump into the air with expert grace. Roll to hit.”

She rolls a 16. “That's a twenty-four to hit because I've got the Tavern Brawler Feat so I've got proficiency with improvised and-slash-or unconventional weapons!”

He snorts. “That'll definitely hit, roll damage.”

Steph picks up her D4 and rolls it, getting a 3. “Do with my strength modifier and Rage damage, that's ten damage! And uh, that's the end of my turn!”

Tim scribbles down the damage taken, he then checks his notes quickly. “The sugary cheese-covered Flameskull starts to cackle madly. It casts fireball on the party, everyone make dexterity saving throws.”

On cue, everyone in the party rolls their D20s. Tikki rolls an 18, Damian and Marinette both roll 16s, and Dick rolls a 4.

Before Bruce rolls his dice, he proclaims, “I'd like to use evasion!” He then rolls and gets a 5. “Fourteen total.”

“Evasion too!” Cass declares with a smile, she rolls her D20, getting 18. She then signs her result, ‘twenty-seven

“Shit!” Jason mutters, staring at his roll of 2.

“Nat one?” Tim questions.

Jason shakes his head. “Natural two, so seven total.”

“I also got seven,” Dick adds.

“Seventeen,” Damian announces.

“I rolled a nineteen and Tikki rolled a twenty-two.” Marinette pipes up.

Steph frowns at her roll of nine. “Eleven…” She glances at her character sheet again. “Wait, no! I get advantage on dexterity saving throws!” She shakes the dice in her hands and blows on it for good luck, then rolls it into the dice box. It lands on an 18. Fist pumping the air, she cheers. “Yes! Dirty twenty, fuck yeah!”

“Alright. Niriwyse and Rehodros both take…” Tim rolls a D6 eight times, behind the DM screen. “Twenty-three fire damage. And everyone else except Chirop and Balabitara take half that, so eleven damage. And of course, Chirop and Balabitara take no damage whatsoever.”

“Wooh,” Bruce cheers.

“Wait a second!” Jason interrupts, triple-checking his character sheet, “I've got fire resistance!”

“Then you also take eleven damage instead of the full twenty-three.” Tim corrects. “And that's the end of the Flameskull's turn. Tikki's up now.”

Marinette tilts her head to the side as Tikki whispers in her again. “Tikki is going to hold her turn.”

Tim nods. “Okay then, it's Balabitara's turn.”

Cass smiles sweetly. “Jump and punch?”

“Roll an athletics check then, please.”

She rolls a 13, and signs her results, ‘eighteen.’

“You barely manage to leap within melee range of the Flameskull,” Tim narrates. “Roll to hit.”

She rolls her dice again, rolling a flat 17. Again, she signs her result, ‘twenty-six.’

“That will definitely hit.” He acknowledges.

Cass then rolls damage, gets a 4, and signs the total, ‘nine.’ She glances down at her character sheet, and then back up at Tim. “Second attack?”

Tim nods again, still jotting down the damage taken. “Go ahead and roll.”

Rolling again, she gets a nine, so she signs the result, ‘eighteen.’

He hums, “That'll also hit, roll damage.”

She rolls and gets a 3. ‘Eight,’ she signs.

Tim chuckles, “As you punch the Flameskull twice, the skull shatters and turns into sugary and cheesy skull dust.”

Cass grins and fist-pumps the air as the rest of the table breaks into cheers.

“Everyone breathe a sigh of relief! Encounter over.” He comments. “And I think we've reached our halfway mark, so we'll take a quick five minutes break to grab something to eat and drink, and we'll continue on after the break.”
