now to my fave minecraft worldbuilding topic
what can you cook? what's edible? what's possible with enough imagination?
I'd like to start with things that are present in-game (vanilla), first, the foods and drinks (ingredients too), having a loaf of bread with a nice mushroom stew seasoned with dandelions for breakfast is an option taken straight from the game
now let's say that I take the apples, wheat, milk, sugar and eggs to make an apple pie, that isn't in the game, but it's something possible to craft

in an extend things like salt can exist because the presence of sea water, same as things like bacon (pigs), cheese (milk) and so on
what if I throw the existing leaves in hot water to make tea?
Tumblr media
or since all the dyes have an organic source can I make a rainbow cake?

how you cook things must be important too I imagine, maybe steak cooked in the smoker tastes way better than cooked with a fire aspect sword

Hi Tumblr. I often like to bake sourdough bread.
Please reblog so it gets more votes etc.etc.
Below the cut is a few pictures of bread I've baked as proof that I know what I'm doing at least a little bit

No way to tell what each bite is gonna taste like
Should be interesting

Rly awesome (RIP) how directly my relationship to food manifests in my worldbuilding weaknesses. I can tell u what an animal Can physically eat. I can spend ages thinking abt the mechanical experiences of eating various existing foods, like texture, compatibility with anatomy, etc. But lord help me if u ask what kinds of “cooking” or “cultural dishes” anyone may have or enjoy. I simply do not eat complex dishes I eat. Ingredience. With salt. I don’t know what cooking is

single-serve sweets!
for @norstrume & anyone who would like a small dessert!
under the cut! make substitutions as you see fit!
Chocolate-Chip Mug Cookie
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
4 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
pinch of salt (if using salted butter, maybe not? unless you want extra salt.)
chocolate chips (or other mix-ins; or nothing)
Combine all ingredients in a microwave-safe mug or ramekin. Mix well. Microwave for 45-60 seconds (check at 45 seconds)
Mug Brownie
1 egg
4 tbsp.
2 tbsp. oil
1 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
powdered sugar, for dusting, if desired
Combine all ingredients in a microwave-safe mug (except for powdered sugar). Mix well. Cook for 1 minute and 40 seconds.
If the top looks dry, it’s done. Dust with powdered sugar.
Single-Serve Chocolate Chip Cookie (for an oven!)
[ from this video! ]
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 tbsp. brown sugar
pinch of salt
dash of vanilla
3 tbsp. flour
pinch of baking powder
pinch of baking soda
1 tsp. milk
chocolate chips
Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes.
**Used turbinado and golden sugars, added the salt too.
Microwaves are temperamental. I’m still not even sure about the wattage of ours. Just keep an eye on things.
Also, I use salted butter most of the time. A tbsp has about 1/4 tsp salt in it, so go from there!
