Ghost bolete (Leccinum holopus)
I think this is a ghost bolete, thought I'm not sure - I don't recognise it as any other kind of bolete, though I'm happy to be corrected if anyone knows!
Ghost boletes are a good edible, but quite rare in the UK, so (along with not being certain of ID) I left it be.

Fungi February: The pungent slippery jack has a strong odor that ranges from banana-like to harsh. It undergoes significant color changes over its lifetime, going from white to olive to brownish yellow, so it can be difficult to identify at a glance.
Disclaimer: Don’t rely on pictures of cute mushrooms with eyes to accurately identify edible mushrooms. At best the wrong one will taste bad, at worst it’ll be deadly!

Funguary Feb 17 - Edible Dotted Stem Bolete - Neoboletus luridiformis
Whilst edible when cooked properly, the Dotted Stem Bolete can cause extreme stomach issues when raw. Somewhat related to gelatinous cubes and even mimics, this particular dungeon denizen uses it's oversized tongue to create a slime trail that it can slowly perambulate down.

Funguary Week 3: Edible, Dotted Stem Bolete
A theme has emerged this month: mushroom scientists! Dot here is a food scientist who can't wait to tell you about how this lovely red mushroom is blue and black inside and you must cook it for a good long time or it will upset your stomach!
I have finally done it, I've married my "old" style with the style that emerged from Huevember! Very excited for this development.
I just really love this mushroom I knew what I wanted to do with it right away. The colors are just so gorgeous!!!

🍏 Tumbler Review: Superfood 180 Fruit and Veggie Capsules 🍅🌽
✨ "The Secret to Becoming a Superhuman (Or at Least Super Energized)" ✨
Alright, fellow health adventurers, gather 'round! If you’re tired of your daily struggle to incorporate the recommended 11 servings of fruits and veggies into your diet, while also not giving up pizza and ice cream, let me introduce you to the Superfood 180 Fruit and Veggie Capsules!
🌟 Pros:
Veggie Power-Up: 180 veggie capsules mean you can finally say “I eat my greens” without actually having to chew on kale like a rabbit. Who knew tiny pills could make you feel like a health guru? 🥦💊
Energy Boost: Feeling sluggish? One scoop of these capsules (okay, technically it’s a handful) and you’ll be more energized than a toddler on a sugar rush. Goodbye naps, hello spontaneous dance parties! 🎉💃
Lycopene Levels for Days: They claim high levels of lycopene—which sounds fancy enough to impress your friends at brunch. “Oh, I only consume lycopene-rich foods, darling.” 🍅✨
Made in the USA: These capsules are grown and made in the USA, so you can feel good about your health choices and support local farmers while you’re at it. USA! USA! 🇺🇸❤️
😂 Cons:
Not an Actual Veggie Replacement: Sorry, but popping these bad boys won’t magically make you a master chef. You still have to avoid burning your toast. 🍞🔥
Slightly Less Exciting than a Salad: While they save time, they definitely won’t make you the star of the next TikTok cooking trend. “Look at my vibrant plate of… uh, capsules?” 😅📸
Capsule Confusion: If you accidentally mix these with your gummy vitamins, you might end up with a very confusing daily routine. “Am I getting my calcium or just a whole lot of fruit and veggie vibes?” 🤷♀️🍬
In summary, the Superfood 180 Capsules are your shortcut to pretending you’re a health-conscious adult while still enjoying your guilty pleasures. So, grab a bottle, pop a few, and let the world think you’re a botanical wizard! 🧙♂️✨
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 - would recommend to my friends, my family, and my future self who’s still avoiding salads!)
Take a Look !!

Somehow one of the mildly annoying things I still think about now and then in encountering a "new" mushroom species in our forests last year, Aureoboletus projectellus, or how it's locally dubbed the "golden bolete", which is an invader from north Murica lmao. It started appearing here about a decade ago and slowly taking over Europe's forests, and there's so much of it here now
#you can't even go look at mushrooms now without having Murica here lol#some people jokingly call it the NATO bolete#it is an edible and tasty mushroom though so it's okay#I wonder how many of them there'll be this year lol#I like native species more though#we also gave the US death caps so it's even#please do NOT eat death caps though I beg you#don't touch them don't look at them#text post#mushrooms#people eventually learn fungi are like one of my very special interests

🍄Ruby bolete (lat. Hortibolétus rubéllus). An edible mushroom that has no poisonous counterparts. It prefers to grow in oak forests, it's rare.
The color of the hat is noteworthy. It depends on the age of the mushroom: at first, the hat is bright red, but as it grows, the shade becomes darker and more complex: wine, reddish-brown, cherry, with notes of olive or brown🍂
🍄Моховик красный или боровик, болет красный (лат. Hortibolétus rubéllus).

Iodine bolete (Hemileccinum impolitum)
This chunky boy can be recognised by their bright yellow pores which, along with their flesh, do not immediately change colour when cut (although they may take on a pink or blue tinge after a an hour or so), and their chemical-ey smell, reminiscent of iodine.
They are edible but not sought after. I ate this one - it was mildly unpleasant!

HORROR WEEK- FOTD #144 : apple bolete! (exsudoporus frostii)
the apple bolete (also frost's bolete) is a mycorrhizal fungus in the family boletaceae >:-) it typically grows near the hardwood trees of the eastern US, southern mexico & costa rica. it was chosen for horror week due to its appearance being reminiscent of muscle tissue !!
the big question : will it kill me?? nope !! however, although they are edible, they are not recommended for consumption as it is quite easy to confuse them with other red boletes. ^^
e. frostii description :
"the shape of the cap of the young fruit body ranges from a half sphere to convex, later becoming broadly convex to flat or shallowly depressed, with a diameter of 5–15 cm (2.0–5.9 in). the edge of the cap is curved inward, although as it ages it can uncurl and turn upward. in moist conditions, the cap surface is sticky as a result of its cuticle, which is made of gelatinized hyphae. if the fruit body has dried out after a rain, the cap is especially shiny, sometimes appearing finely areolate (having a pattern of block-like areas similar to cracked, dried mud). young mushrooms have a whitish bloom on the cap surface.
the colour is bright red initially, but fades with age. the flesh is up to 2.5 cm (1.0 in) thick, & ranges in colour from pallid to pale yellow to lemon yellow. the flesh has a variable staining reaction in response to bruising, so some specimens may turn deep blue almost immediately, while others turn blue weakly & slowly.
the tubes comprising the pore surface (the hymenium) are 9–15 mm deep, yellow to olivaceous yellow (mustard yellow), turning dingy blue when bruised. the pores are small (2 to 3 per mm), circular, & until old age a deep red colour that eventually becomes paler. the pore surface is often beaded with yellowish droplets when young (a distinguishing characteristic), & readily stains blue when bruised. the stipe is 4 to 12 cm (1.6 to 4.7 in) long, & 1 to 2.5 cm (0.4 to 1.0 in) thick at its apex. it is roughly equal in thickness throughout its length, though it may taper somewhat toward the top ; some specimens may appear ventricose (swollen in the middle). the stipe surface is mostly red, or yellowish near the base ; it is reticulate — characterized by ridges arranged in the form of a net-like pattern."

These mushrooms are edible for some reason? The Cornflower Bolete is not toxic, they don’t even produce a taste or smell that anyone would consider offensive. They do however turn blue when cut or damaged, which I can only assume is a natural deterrent, as experts say the blue color is highly unappetizing in person. They are close cousins to the Porcini Mushroom, and are quite delicious sautéed into a dish, or just fried with a little butter.
Day 4, Cornflower Bolete, fungal carnage like you’ve never seen.
#funguary#🍄#cornflower bolete#i cheated on the background a lil#people who stopped by the live know what i’m talking about#they know my shame#still can’t get over that these are edible
