Funguary Feb 17 - Edible Dotted Stem Bolete - Neoboletus luridiformis

Whilst edible when cooked properly, the Dotted Stem Bolete can cause extreme stomach issues when raw. Somewhat related to gelatinous cubes and even mimics, this particular dungeon denizen uses it's oversized tongue to create a slime trail that it can slowly perambulate down.

Dotted Stem Bolete

So many boletes… I do love them but mine were starting to feel a bit samey so I really wanted to do something a bit different today! I was struggling to find inspiration for a bit until I saw the underside of the cap was the colorful part. I thought that was cool, so I tried to come up with a couple different ways to represent that, and ended up settling on these weird little wings.

🍄 Funguary 17: Dotted Stem Bolete

Relatively normal spotted mushrooms, except for one main issue: they can survive being split in half. Each half will eventually grow a second leg to compensate, but they're quite good at bouncing around in the mean time. Their survival rate drops drastically when not severed down the middle.
