Kein Regierungsflieger zur Amtseinführung, keine begeistert jubelnden Anhänger und keine 21 Salutschüsse des Militärs für den neuen Präsidenten… Und zu allem Überdruß öffnet ihm später niemand die Eingangstür zum Weißen Haus…

Nur gut, dass man die Signierung der ersten Executive Orders bereits in einer nachgebauten Kulisse des Oval Office – vermutlich im Hollywood – Studio für den Film „Der amerikanische Präsident“ – im Voraus aufgezeichnet hatte… Von Eva Maria Griese

Washington DC mutete am Tag der Amtseinführung wie ein Kriegsschauplatz an

Zigtausende Soldaten patrouillierten in den Straßen, bei der Feier am Capitol fanden sich nur wenige hundert Leute ein und das Weiße Haus blieb für die Bidens und ihre Entourage versperrt.

Dennoch lief die eher schlecht als recht geschnittene Inszenierung dieser Amtseinführung über die Bildschirme in aller Welt und viele von Bidens Amtskollegen bejubelten den Beginn einer neuen Ära nach den furchtbaren Jahren mit Donald Trump.
