hiai guys...🤗 this is the only thing I've only been able to think about lately. bear with me ☹️ i've also merged the characters and guns together so I can ramble more 😎
My Headcanons On What Handguns Bully Characters Would Have Pt. 2
part 1
6. Ted
I think Ted is the type to focus more on speed and durability, and the Beretta 92 is crazy good. It's a pretty big gun but it's solid in the hands, it's probably not going to slip at all. I think Ted would like Beretta guns in general. I also think that he'd be the type to stick to one gun and Beretta 92 is GOOD 👍👍👍 for that
7. Edgar
I think he'd be the type to use any gun tbh, just as long as it's good and has a nice grip, he's cool. I don't think he'd use revolvers that much (😢) so I'm thinking CZ 75. Slightly heavy, but I think Edgar's good with it. The accuracy is SOO good and it survives for so long, and that's just what Edgar needs...😎 Edgar's a CZ kind of guy I just know it
8. Zoe
Zoe would be a big fan of Taurus automatic pistols, more specifically the Taurus G2. It's pretty smooth; the magazine quickly drops once the release button is clicked, gripping on it is easy, and the recoil is rarely aggressive. I feel like Zoe would mostly focus on the comfortability of a handgun and this one is sou good. It's pretty cheap too, it's SO good for its price. There's also the Taurus G3 which is a fair improvement than the G2, but I feel like Zoe is not gonna stop continuously using the G2 until it breaks LUL
9. Otto
I think Otto would mainly use Walther guns, specifically the Walther PK380. It's cheap (& he probably manages to get it for even less) and he loves anything that can be good for concealed carry. I think he'd have a dream gun though: the Nighthawk .357 Magnum. That gun is by far the angriest gun I have ever seen. I think Otto would LOVE Korth guns and wished he had more revolvers... but that gun is $6K 😢
10. Algie
OK I laughed like crazy while thinking about this but. I think in an act of self defense he'd goes to some guys to buy a gun. But the guys scammed him and made him pay more for a Hi Point C9. He thought everyone would be afraid of him now, but then the gun nerds start making fun of him for having a Hi Point. For context Hi Point guns are HEAVILY ridiculed by the gun people because of how shitty they are; they're cheap, but incredibly heavy and are difficult to use
11. Earnest
HONESTLY I think he'd really like Manurhin revolvers... it's so classy and I feel like that's what he's trying to make himself look like. They're CRAZY expensive though (some leading up to $10K) so he'd for the cheapest one; Manurhin MR37. It is a really, really good gun though, one of the best revolvers out there (besides S&W's...) and he's gonna show it off.... I know it. or maybe he's just gonna make his own gun idk man
12. Russell
Russell is a big guy and he would love anything that's heavy and flashy. so I think he'd like the .500 s&w revolver. It is insanely powerful and probably has a really big recoil. I haven't read much about this gun and I'm sure it's pretty expensive ($1K+) but Russell can just steal it you guys. It was made 4 him. Russell also probably struggles with most guns because his hands are big and it's gotta physically hurt to use them. I think he'd go for the big/heavy ones
13. Johnny
I think Johnny would be a huge fan of any old guns from the 1900s, and therefore I think he'd like Lugers a LOT. Their guns are expensive as hell but I like to think he'd buy them from auctions. I doubt he'd actually use any of the old ones cause they're severely outdated (but still good TBH) and he'd probably get made fun of if he actually does use them, but he still buys them for his collection. For a gun that he actually uses though, I think he'd like the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 (the gun in the picture). I think Johnny would go for guns that have good triggers and this is one of them. Also there's a laser inside of it it's crazy
14. Peanut
Peanut I think would love the Ruger Hunter Mark IV. Honestly I think the greasers would all really love rugers. This one specifically looks so good and I thought they'd cost like at least $2K, but when I searched it up they only cost $600-800. Peanut would love that fact. I can imagine Peanut being a gun nerd tbh... so a gun like this that needs a lot of focus is no problem for him. He'd kiss this gun goodnight
15. Lola
ANOTHER Ruger gun and I think Lola would love the Ruger Single Six. In terms of weight it's really balanced, it's INSANELY durable, and the loading & unloading is so smooth. I think it's also mostly made of steel and it fits Lola man. It's a good gun for hunting too and therefore the accuracy is really good, and I think Lola would like guns that have good accuracy. This gun is hung on the wall in her house trust me

part 1 (1985-1990): the saga of jeremy brett through the scuttlebutt archives
go here for part two!
since 1971, sherlockian and baker st irregular, peter blau has published a small "gossip" sheet for all sherlock holmes news under publication of the "scuttlebutt from the spermaceti press." after the advent of computers, peter started digitizing all his sheets from 1985 onward.
i went through blau's archives to look for any tidbits on jeremy brett. what i found tells jeremy's saga as granada's sherlock holmes. some of the entries are very straightforward. some of them require reading through the lines. some of them are just fun background bits of granada. but all of them paint jeremy's story through little snippets of news.
March 1985: granada premieres in america! vincent price quoted edgar w. smith, one of the foremost sherlockians in history :)
July 1985: the beginning of the closing chapter of his life
for some reason these are the only pictures i can find of joan and jeremy together, but they are absolutely adorable
August 1985 #1
August 1985 #2: jeremy's flightiness around the role trickles to the press. though he'll never say why.
"'and then i hang my pipes up,'" he said with a smile." his feelings regarding holmes were dangerous before joan's death and only got worse.
to quote producer june wyndham-davies, "when his depression was upon him, and he suffered from depression of the worst kind, he was a different person entirely. i've never known anyone whose personality could change so much. he would become aggressive and not want to continue. i had so many conversations with jeremy about not wanting to continue as sherlock holmes. he felt that sherlock holmes had turned him into a monster. jeremy brett was like that before he ever came to sherlock holmes, but it wasn't his fault and it certainly wasn't sherlock holmes fault."
December 1987: i didn't know he commissioned the play, the secret of sherlock holmes! and helped write it!!
February 1988: damn, that's audacious
May 1988: i can only imagine how much more would've been created and executed if jeremy hadn't gotten sick
okay but, the dog in the hound of the baskervilles is named khan. the movie is literally the wrath of khan.
June 1988: i can't pinpoint the timeline for when jeremy's mental illness became public knowledge and published by the media. however, from this short news clipping, it doesn't seem like they knew the real reason jeremy's hair was cut short. and almost certainly not that he chopped it off himself.
"jeremy just got into one of his manic states—you know, i hate sherlock holmes etc., and one day he cut his hair. in front of the mirror, he lopped bits off. i remember the first time I saw him after he had done it. we were both appearing in an 80th birthday tribute to sir laurence olivier at the national. he turned up at the theatre and i said, 'god, what have you done to your hair?' it was patently obvious it had not been cut by a barber—there were bits sticking up all over." -edward hardwicke
July 1988: the age of jeremy brett! forget the victorian era, this is the jeremerian? brettian? era
October 1988 #1
October 1988 #2: jeremy's insecurities shine through more. high praise for daniel day-lewis. "don't worry you haven't heard or seen the last of him!" congrats to jeremy for introducing lewis to america LOL. yay for play success! (also what does he mean by saying the private life of sherlock holmes is a "damaged film?" robert stephens was one of jeremy's life long best friends--stephens died exactly 2 months after jeremy. coincidentally, jeremy's ex-boyfriend, paul shenar, died exactly one month after jeremy.)
October 1988 #3: L O L
November 1988 #1: jeremy's opinion matters!
November 1988 #2: in my opinion, "bending the willow" is the most important part of jeremy's interpretation of holmes
August 1989: michael cox (the cornerstone of creating and shaping the first half of granada's run) begins to make his (very forced) exit. jeremy's physical health problems are becoming apparent, but they are brushed away by the actor, attributing his breathing issues and weight gain to heavy smoking. and once again, jeremy tries to cast off holmes, without revealing his true reasons.
according to granada's page on the arthur conan doyle encyclopedia, this is what was really happening:
"the performances were probably cathartic for him, but required excessive physical effort from a man with a worsening heart condition who, due to the enormous water retention caused by the lithium, found it difficult to breathe and move. he was forced to leave the theatre and go to hospital, where he stayed for a fortnight and had more than twelve litres of water removed from his body. by 1989 brett and hardwicke, who had supported him with boundless patience, were on their knees. brett took a short holiday but had to be rushed home and hospitalized: the treatments for his bipolar disorder and his heart condition had clashed."
i strongly recommend reading edward's later comments of his difficulties with jeremy during the show: link here
October 1989: two months later, jeremy has yet again changed his mind on continuing as sherlock holmes
November 1989: philip purser how d a r e you say that about my beloved watson. of course, it's from the daily mail, so his opinion doesn't matter.
December 1989: granada undergoes major changes. the conservative government was actively attacking the british media and coming after their budgets. after ousting all of the original leaders of granada's sherlock holmes, the new priorites were based off of ratings and profitability. "you must always remember that your business is to form the market as well as to supply it, [otherwise] your career will have succeeded only in restraining the arts, tarnishing the virtues, and throwing confusion into the manners of your contemporaries." -a granada staffer to the new leaders of the show
January 1990: jeremy finally feels stable in the role, but i think without that dance with "the dark side of the moon" he felt like he lost a key element in his portrayal of holmes. even though he had always been terrified of that instabiity.
end of part 1, so here's part two!

There is some curiosity about the fact that Lovecraft mentioned characters, books, cosmic entities, or legendary places created by other authors. Is he saying by doing so that because Frank Belknap Long's, ' The Hounds of Tindalos", various books or characters invented by Robert E. Howard, the "Aklo Language' featured in the works of Arthur Machen, 'The King in Yellow' character created by Robert W. Chambers, etc, etc, are mentioned briefly in his own fiction that these fictional creations by others should now be considered legitimately linked with his own en masse. In my humble opinion the answer is, 'NO'. What HPL did by repeating these myriad subjects was only to give the impression that the ultimate over-arching inspiration for these inventions was a higher, and ultimately ulta-cosmic origin. Even in Lovecraft's time there were individuals who insisted that HPL and some of his writer pals were "channelling" the thoughts of higher supernatural powers. Lovecraft of course thought these persons were deluded and pathetic. In some cases he even expressed sympathy for their childish ignorance. So, can we really expect to gain any definite understanding of Lovecraft's developing mythology from reading the works of Clark Ashton Smith, Arthur Machen, Edgar Allan Poe, or any other horror writer Lovecraft mentioned in passing? Absolutely not! These references were window trimming only. I'd be happy to consider any opinions otherwise. (Exhibit 426)

supernatural s7e22 there will be blood (w. andrew dabb, daniel loflin)
spoiler alert, dean fogg's in this one. love his voice! periodic reminder i could not care less about the leviathan plotline. it's so cartoonish and dull
DEAN Okay, man, I have read this more times than the Playboy I found in Dad's duffel. SAM Anna Nicole? DEAN Anna Nicole. Oh, the good – they die young, huh?
i shared part of her name and used to get jokes about her regularly. there's an interesting (and very sad) documentary on netflix about her called "anna nicole smith: you don't know me". and one of the best documentaries i've watched recently i'd recommend even more, about pamela anderson - called "pamela, a love story".
genuinely happy to see crowley. so many side characters are kind of... stiff or over the top. he's the correct amount of top
silly pie focused bickering
DEAN Yeah, Sam, look around. It's friggin' Woodstock. Everybody's hopped up on the brown acid. We don't need the song and dance. Give him a little prick.
i'm so used to Emotional Trauma for the last few episodes of a season i'm not sure what to do with this goofy shit
GLORIA Yesterday I introduced you to this rising star in American business. In this hour, we'll go behind the scenes and answer the question everyone's been asking for months – what makes Dick so hard to beat?
they cannot resist the dick jokes my god
EMILY You were gonna hurt my daddy.
okay.
the magicians s1e13 have you brought me little cakes (w. sera gamble btw & john mcnamara & david reed) - laci j mailey as fen
so she was fen in s1 finale but the role was recast to brittany curran for the remainder of the show
DEAN Well, the creep gets creepier.
fucking seriously. not to mention this kid looks like a bit like young sam/colin ford
EDGAR I smell Sam and Dean Winchester.
kinky
SAM But, Dean... We gave up all our Vamptonite.
is dean dreaming, what is happening lol
DEAN I think any way you slice it, you got Pac Man and True Blood in the same room and that's bad news.
i have a lot of fondness for true blood, but anyway the thought that true blood the show exists in the universe where vampires do exist, it's just tickling me at the moment
well. cute they wrote in the little rescuing the young sam-esque kid. again appreciating the alpha vampire's actor, rick worthy, who is also great on the magicians and wishing he could be in a more regular role than some of the other people on this show :p
wonder if the season finale can make me feel anything.

Broadway World on The Invisibility Project: Women on the Verge
THE INVISIBILITY PROJECT: WOMEN ON THE VERGE Festival to be Presented at Polaris North
Performances run November 15-17
By: Chloe Rabinowitz Nov. 15, 2024
"The Invisibility Project: Women on the Verge" is a New York play festival produced by Rose-Marie Brandwein that will have performances on Friday, November 15, 16 and 17 at Polaris North (245 W. 29th Street) starting at 7 pm, with a Sunday Matinee at 3 pm.
This festival, which launched on November 14, is co-sponsored by Honor Roll!, a grassroots program that advocates for women+ playwrights over 40.
The Invisibility Project was conceived to provide female playwrights over the age of 40 with greater visibility and an opportunity to give voice to their creativity. Their works collectively and individually honor the female spirit of resilience, passion and determination.
https://79ab01ed62760c74c50aff1a643da15d.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-40/html/container.html Rose-Marie Brandwein says, "As female playwrights, theatre is no longer as welcoming- rendering many of us invisible with limited opportunities to see our works staged. The Invisibility Project turns that around."
The five playwrights in the festival are D-Davis ("What's What"), Hortense Gerardo ("Winds of Change), Pamela Kingsley ("Sleepwalking'), Vita Patrick Morales ("The Gift"), and Tracie E. Morrison ("Bare Chicken").
The cast includes Ange Berneau*, Carol Carter*, Ms. D, Mary Keefe*, Kassie Kole, Lucy McMichael*, Vivian Meisner*, John L. Payne*, Alexis Schreiber, William Shuman*, Barbie Seigle, and Diane Tyler* (*Members, AEA).
Plays are directed by Eric Diamond, Edgar Chisholm, John L.Payne and D.B. Smith.
https://79ab01ed62760c74c50aff1a643da15d.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-40/html/container.html Producer Rose-Marie Brandwein received her M.F.A. in professional writing from the University of Southern California where she studied playwriting and screenwriting. She studied playwriting with Larry Carr,Jack Gelber, David Scott Milton and Walter Hadler at Roundabout Conservatory Theatre's Playwriting Unit and with directors Andrew Leynse and Tyler Marchant of Primary Stages. This is her third festival at Polaris North. Her full length play "Expiration Date" was first performed as a staged reading at Stage Left Studio's Women at Work Festival before going onto productions at the East of Edinburgh Festival at 59E59 Theaters and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She's a member of the Dramatists Guild.
HONOR ROLL! is a grass-roots group whose members self-initiate actions to increase our inclusion in theater. Honor Roll! is an advocacy and action group of women+ playwrights over 40 as well as our women+ over 40 allies. The term "women+" refers to a spectrum of gender identification. Honor Roll members are the generation excluded at the outset of their careers because of sexism, now overlooked because of ageism. The organization celebrates diversity in theater and works to eliminate age discrimination as it intersects with sexism and other biases including those based on race, gender identity, ethnicity, faith, socioeconomic status, disability, and sexual orientation in the American Theater and beyond.
Admission to The Invisibility Project: Women on the Ledge" is free. For reservations, email: [email protected]

Reliquary Continued
Recent Acquisition As the foremost Italian cabinetmaker of the 18th century, Pietro Piffeti was in the service of the royal House of Savory for over 40 years. Piffetti’s works are remarkable for their technical skill; the intricate marquetry decoration on this prie-dieu is all the more impressive when one considers the difficulty of veneering curved surfaces. Thes prie-dieu-a kneeling bench used at home for personal devotion - was most likely made for the youngest son of Carl Emmanuel III, King of Sardinia, for use in the Palace of Venaria, the family’s hunting lodge outside Turin. A door in the center of the prie-dieu conceals a small cabinet for a rosary and prayer books, and the drawer at the base would have held a padded kneeler. The interiors of the cabinet retains its original pink paint; popular in the mid-18th century, the color pink did not yet have the feminine associations it does today. School Days: Joan Guice (1945-2014)
Joan Elizabeth Guice, the daughter of Edgar Nelson (1927-2001) and Valencia Guice (1927-2002) was born in Birmingham, Alabama on 9 September 1945. She was educated in the Birmingham Public School system. The primary and secondary schools Joan attended are a remarkable part of Alabama history.
Tuggle Elementary School
The Tuggle Institute and School was a privately-run charity established in 1903 by social worker Carrie A. Tuggle. It was initially an orphan home for African-American boys. Mrs. Tuggle operated the institute from 1903 until her death in 1924. At that time the school was absorbed into the Birmingham Public School system. In 1934 the name of the school was changed to Enon Ridge School. The Birmingham City Board of Education purchased the school building and property in 1936 and changed the name to Carrie A. Tuggle Elementary School.[1]
A modern school with a 14-classroom building was built on the property in 1952. In 1954 the City Board of Education placed a bronze plaque in the memory of Carrie A. Tuggle as the cornerstone to the new school.[2]

Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama was established in 1900 as the Negro High School. The principal and only teacher was Arthur Harold Parker. The school initially had 15 students in its graduating class of 1904. When Mr. Parker retired in 1939 the school, now known as Industrial High School, had an enrollment of over 2,700. After Mr. Parker's retirement, the school was renamed A. H. Parker High School in his honor.[5]
Joan followed in the footsteps of her mother who graduated from Parker High School in the mid-1940s.
The summer of 1962, Joan was a rising senior at Parker High School. She attended summer school taking history and biology classes.

In May 1963 Joan was a high school senior at Parker High School. It was a tumultuous time. On 2 May 1963 the “Children’s Crusade” of the Birmingham Civil Rights campaign took place. African-American school children were encouraged by adult activists to skip school and participate in a nonviolent demonstration. According to the principal of Parker High School, 25%-40% of the 2,200 student body did not report for classes on that day.[6] It is unknown if Joan was among her classmates who joined the demonstration.
A subsequent Civil Rights demonstration in downtown Birmingham, Alabama on 3 May 1963 made national news. When the child marchers did not disperse, firemen blasted them with water from high pressure fire hoses. Police K-9 officers were deployed and several protesters were bitten. Hundreds of school children were arrested, booked and jailed.[7]
Joan Guice graduated from A. H. Parker High School in May 1963.

Murders in the Rue Morgue: Unexpected, Yet Expected.
Upon viewing Murders in the Rue Morgue and Maniac, I can now say, without a doubt, that Murders in the Rue Morgue is the superior film. For one thing, Murders in the Rue Morgue was produced by an actual studio, Universal. That already sets it ahead of Maniac, as being produced by a major studio such as Universal automatically means that there is a good budget. While it might not have had as much money as say MGM or Paramount, it still had a great deal more than an independent film.
Universal’s Dracula sets up a structural template that the other Universal horror films would follow: the monster as outside of normative culture, seen as a threat to social/patriarchy/gender roles, and needing to be destroyed in order to disavow chaos and restore order to ‘bourgeois/capitalist ideology’ (Wood, 2002: 226). This quote is taken from the novel, Gothic Film, in the chapter, ‘So why shouldn’t I write of monsters?’: Defining Monstrosity in Universal’s Horror Films, written by Andy W. Smith. This quote is definitely accurate to the following films that Universal produced over the years after Frankenstein(1931). Murders in the Rue Morgue, released in 1932, also follows this pattern. The ape, along with a mad doctor who is crazy about evolution, serve as the monster. The ape is the physical form, while the doctor represents the mental and emotional aspects behind it. There are other tropes as well. Main characters Pierre and Camille can be seen as star-crossed lovers. And Erik the ape kidnapping Camille to be rescued by Pierre is the classic damsel in distress due to evil or monsters. What switches it up is the slight science fiction aspect and well as the true absurdity of it all when you think about it. Unless you had read the Edgar Allan Poe short story, upon which this film is based, most audiences watching the films for the first time would assume they are watching a regular mystery horror film. The fact that the monster is an an ape, in a film that takes place in Paris, seems quite out of place. But, it does work. In fact, the ape isn’t even the scariest part. In fact, he isn’t even completely at fault. Much like Frankenstein, it all started with the creator. The mad doctor in this film was responsible for the gorilla, as well as the kidnapping, experimenting on, and murder of multiple women. Between the doctor’s treatment of him, which includes underestimating his intelligence, it is no surprise that Erik turned on him. While the scientist claimed he was doing the experiments to find the ape, Erik, a mate, it was really all for his greed and ego, to see what he could accomplish and how far he could go.
The quality of Murders is ten times better than Maniac, in my opinion. The cast, compared to Maniac, is much more well known, with names such as Bela Lugosi and Sidney Fox. Bela Lugosi, who played the mad doctor, also played famous characters such as Count Dracula and Igor. Sidney Fox made her debut in the film Bad Sister, which was also the film debut of famous actress Bette Davis. The editing, score, production design, camera, etc. Not to mention, the plot is much more concrete and entertaining. It almost reminded me a bit of Godzilla. While I do realize that the differences in quality and story may be the point in Maniac, that does not mean it comes across the way they wanted it to. I will always view Maniac as one of the strangest films I have ever seen.
