You click your phone off with a groan, but he was right. You couldn’t stay away from him, and maybe, just maybe, this was your way of running into him, accidentally.
Because ever since he released the song, the tabloids had gone crazy with it, half of the lyrics screamed you and all of the old headlines pointed at you, the mystery girl Eddie used to be seen with, and you really were growing tired of seeing your name next to “Munson’s new girl.”
Because you weren’t his new girl, you weren’t his anything. He was a cocky asshole who was good with a guitar and was even better at fucking. And that was something both of you could relate to, the only thing you had in common with him. Or, so you thought.
But of course, as with everything else, the things between you changed, you started staying over, he started staying over, and the two of you even went on fucking dates, disguising them under ‘we were just hungry, is all.’
You tried to keep up the cool girl act, like you could fuck someone and not catch feelings. Every inch of you itched not to care, to act like it was all fine, but it was all fucking bullshit, you cared, so fucking much that your chest ached. The more you got to know him, the more you fell for him, and the more you fell for him, the more you realized there was no fucking way this would work.
Cocky rockstar who spent more time doing drugs than sleeping, with girls all over him? The imaginary red flag bells rang in your ear, even now. He wasn’t looking for a relationship and you knew that. That’s why you ended it two months ago. Or at least, you started ignoring him two months ago.
Yet, he had been calling and texting you, wanting to meet up, drunken slurs of nonsense, gibberish voicemails, and yet you never answered, because if you did, you knew you’d be back to pathetically swooning over him.
Until today, just because of that stupid song, like it meant anything. That douchebag probably wrote songs about every girl he fucked.
You weren’t special.
Another ding sound from your phone almost startled you, the contact name made you groan even louder. “don’t FUCKING answer.” That didn’t mean shit. It was just something stupid to make you feel better that you couldn’t stay away from him, because you knew, deep down that if you really didn’t want him to contact you, you would’ve deleted his number, and blocked him. You were too chicken shit to do that, and still desperately wanted to hear from him.
So you settled on that contact name. Like it made a difference, like it changed anything.
DONT FUCKING ANSWER did you listen to the song?
Don’t fucking answer. The contact name should be enough to convince yourself that.
Too late.
no. don’t lie to me, sweetheart.                                                                            why would i lie?
You sink into the couch, a much quieter corner of the party, not even bothering to socialize. Your brows furrow, index finger flying to your lips anxiously, as you chew on it to patiently wait for an answer.
You sip on your drink with a nervous gaze on your screen, barely noticing the way the couch sink further when someone else took a seat next to you.
“Hi.” The gravelly voice pulls your attention away from the screen, making you set your drink aside as you look up, finding yourself face-to-face with him.
Shaggy bangs cascade onto his forehead, and with your exaggeration, it looks longer than the last time you saw him. Black jeans cladded with chains. A graphic tee messily thrown over his heavily tatted chest, that you could still imagine right about nowpathetic. He looked just about the same, the deep dimple adorning his soft cheeks had seemed to disappear, wearing a scowl instead, that tiny voice in your head told you that was your doing, that maybe he was just as miserable as you. Maybe your feelings weren’t fully one-sided.
Shit.
“Eddie?” Squeaky, and annoying, you were sure that’s how your tone sounded, yet he didn’t seem to comment on it.
“‘m glad you remember my name, sweetheart,” he scoffs sarcastically, leaning further into the plush couch, elbow propped at the side, eyeing you with frustration.
“W—what the hell are you doing here?” You stutter as if you weren’t expecting to run into him. Full of bullshit.
“Did ya really think you could ignore me forever, huh?” He tilts his head slightly, almost expectedly, earning an eye roll from you.
“I wasn’t ignoring yo—”
Eddie tuts quickly, his gaze locking onto yours with an intensity that cuts through the ambient noise of the party, “I thought we said no more lies, huh?”
With a huff, “Why are you here, Eddie?” you mumble.
“Am I not allowed to party?” He banters, brows slightly raised, making you huff out an exasperated breath, your eyes bore into him, almost to signal him ‘Take this seriously.’
“I wanted to know what you thought.” He shrugs like it was normal to just come running after everything just to know what you thought of the song.
“The song?” He nods in confirmation.
“Didn’t like it,” you confess, avoiding his gaze, but your brows betray you, lifting ever so slightly.
He tsks, shutting you off quickly, “You see that little quirk your brow did? That only happens when you lie, you can’t help it. You do that when I ask you if you ate the last pizza slice, or when I ask if you watched the next episode of the show we were supposed to watch together, or when you—”
“Fine, fine! I liked it,” you groan, interrupting him and suddenly standing up from the comfort of the couch, being so face-to-face with him immediately making your nerves bubble.
“Just liked?” He tilts his head slightly, a smirk curving on his lips.
A deep sigh of breath, “what do you want, Munson?”
He stands up with you, making you back away from him with a heavy footstep, the entire party was too loud and crowded, yet, in this stupid corner, it was just the two of you. “For you to admit that you loooved the song, and how much you missed me,” he sing-songs, taking a step closer to you, musky smell invading your senses, making you take a deep breath.
Both of you stand near the wall, and it should be awkward, it should be enough to make you leave, but all it does is draw you closer to him.
“You’re annoying.”
“Is that why you’ve been avoiding me?”
“I wasn’t avoiding—” He tuts, with his stupid index finger up, rejecting your lie.
“I—I don’t know what you expected.” You shrug, so nonchalantly that his gaze narrows, chest aching with the implications of your words.
“We both knew this wouldn’t last forever, didn’t we?” You chew the inside of your lip to stop those tears that had been begging to flow ever since you listened to the song, wiping off that smirk on Eddie’s lips.
“Would’ve been nice if I got a reminder, and not have been just fully ghosted, huh?” The brunette grumbles with a downturn of his lips, shaking his head in disbelief.
“Oh, don’t act all high and mighty, isn’t that what you do all the fucking time?” you snap, gaze narrowed, and arms crossed against your chest.
“Fuck girls and then leave them? Did it crush your ego this fucking much that I did before you could?”
“What the fuck does that mean?” He retaliates.
“It means I was smart enough to pull myself away from your bullshit,” you rasp, disdain written all over your face. The room seems to shrink as the distance between you decreases.
Another step closer to you, and you didn’t realize your back had hit the wall now. “My bullshit? God, that’s fucking rich, if I seem to recall correctly sweetheart, you were in this as much as I fucking was!”
“Oh, was I?” You bark out a chuckle, cruel, mocking, “I don’t remember being okay with you fucking half the city.” Realization of how bitter and jealous that sounds, dawns on you much later than the words leave your lips, and thankfully, Eddie’s too fucking immersed to realize the double meaning of your words.
“Are you fucking kidding? No strings attached! Non-exclusive! That’s what you fuckin’ signed up for!” His voice echoes, mirroring his frustration, and you open your mouth.
But he doesn’t let you speak further, cutting you off sharply. “Is this all because of that new guy you’re seein’?”
“What? What guy?”
“The one who was all over you earlier,” he bites out, jaw clenched, and you can almost taste his bitterness in the air.
“The same one you fucked at Jeff’s party.”
“Are you stalking me, Munson?”
“Did you just want an excuse to end things? Are the two of you serious or somethin’?” His voice wavered between anger and desperation, gaze pathetically searching for yours, to gauge your reaction.
You scoff. Did he really think you’d end things because of a stupid fling you had which in the first place occurred just so you could forget him? He was so goddamn clueless it drove you insane.
But what you didn’t realize was that you were just as clueless, if not more, because why would he write a song all about you, if this was just about sex? Because who would get so jealous of someone they didn’t care about?
Say my name and his in the same breath.
I dare you to say they taste the same.
The lyrics from his stupid song swirled your thoughts, yet you were still too stupid to see it, weren’t you?
Another step closer to you, a dangerous game the two of you liked to play. He smelled alluring, a fucked up mix of nicotine, his musky cologne, and that damn leather jacket. “Do you really think, he could compare to me, sweetheart?”
Say my name and his in the same breath.
“Tell me he’s fucking better, and he’s actually what you want, and I’ll fucking leave, I’ll bury all the other songs I wrote, tell me, and I’ll be out of your hair forever.”
I dare you to say they taste the same.
And just like that, all the defenses you put up, all the times you ignored him, they are cracked, disappearing into thin air. You hate it, you hate that he has this effect on you, you can feel your mind getting hazier, eyes blinking rapidly to process what the fuck is going on, and his face is mere inches away from yours. You knew their names didn’t taste the same. And you knew he could never ever compare to Eddie.
“Tell me,” he encourages, dares you to. You fail to notice how much emotion his gaze carries, how the corners of his lips twitch, just at the thought of you finally admitting you don’t want him. His stomach turns at the thought, this is his last chance, he knows that, and he can’t fucking lose you. He can’t.
And you don’t know any of that, but you knew, know that no one else could compare to him. And you hate yourself for thinking that, you hate yourself for falling for him, the world stops rotating on its axis when he’s in your peripheral vision, and it’s fucking disgusting. Pathetic. Stupid. Because you know the two of you have no chance. But here you are.
“H—he is b—” Of course, your brow quirks up almost immediately, betraying you quicker than you can even attempt to lie.
That dawning smirk appears on his lips again, it’s mocking, and just as much smug. You want to wipe it off of his stupidly pretty face. “Tell me,” he dares you, again. This time much cockier and confident, and you suddenly realize how small you feel under him.
“He isn’t,” your meek voice is barely audible.
And you don’t register the shaky breath he draws when the words leave your lips, giving him the confirmation he needs. You wanted him, he had no fucking clue why you ghosted him, yet you still wanted him. Just as much as he wanted you.
Both of his hands were placed on the wall now, towering over you, making your breath get caught up in your throat. “Speak up.”
“No, fuck! You know he’s not, you know he could never fucking compare to you, you fucking know tha—” He shuts you up with a rough kiss, lips pressed against yours messily, letting the petty comments die down your throat. Because this is all he wanted, needed to hear anyway.
“Up,” he grunts into the kiss, tapping your thighs, hoisting you up from your waist to help you wrap your legs around him, tight, he wants you at his mercy, locked to him.
You wrap your legs around him, barely, the melty sensation in your knees making you so shaky that he barks out a laugh into your lips, holding you close, firm, the butterflies in your stomach traveling all across your body.
He lifts you up as if you are weightless, arms wrapped around you strongly as he carries you to the nearest empty bedroom, impressively without hitting your back anywhere, so roughly that your core throbs at the feeling of his arms around you.
“Baby,” he mutters as he lowers you down on the bed swiftly, smooth, gaze darkened and pupils blown wide, all the pent up desire waiting to explode.
“Eddie,” you beg, shaky voice sounding purely angelic to his ears once he got rid of his shirt, shrugging it off with a huff, his fingertips grazing against your top, feeling your hardened nipples, causing gasps out of you, he’s quick to pull it over your head while you run your fingers up the grooves of his stomach, the tip of your fingertips almost burns everywhere you touch.
He groans at the sight of your bare breasts, “missed thi-you,” he corrects himself, because that’s all he wanted anyways, you.
He nips at your nipples, tongue good at giving attention to both of them, all wet and warm, making you squirm under his touch, you’re quick to get rid of everything else, leaving you in your panties, making him grunt.
The pad of his thumb rubs against your left nipple, leaving goosebumps in its wake, while his other hand travels down your chest, then your stomach, finally drawing circles when it stops between your thighs, ghosting over your panties before he tugs them down your legs, spreading them apart with a slight hum, pupils blown so wide that you can’t admire those chocolate hues anymore.
He visually drinks in that sight of you, laid down on the couch, eyes squeezed shut, back arched, and he hasn’t even touched you yet. You’re completely at his mercy and his chest aches with need. “So pretty like this f’me,” he coos into your chest, pushing his middle finger inside of you. Making you feel so good that you can’t stop the gasps coming out of your lips.
Pleasure shivers through everywhere he sucks and touches, his finger eases into you when he adds another one, a moan escaping you quickly. “Need to be in here, sweetheart, d’ya have any idea how much I missed this?”
You don’t. You don’t know about the sleepless nights, the drunken ones, the drug-induced ones in an attempt to recreate the high you gave him. It’s fucked up, it’s insanely toxic. Yet, he can’t get enough of you.
His gaze upon you is dangerous, maybe it’s because he had missed you so goddamn much, or maybe because he didn’t know where this would lead, but it felt fucking sentimental, different somehow, and he could feel you, everywhere on his skin.
Your hips start rocking up against him when the pad of his thumb flicks over your clit, making you arch your back, whines, mumbles leaving your lips. And all he can muster is, “so goddamn beautiful, look at you whining for me.”
You can feel his bulge rub against your thigh every now and then, it’s distracting, almost agonizing. You desperately need it inside of you, you had missed him, missed his touch, missed the feeling of him filling you to the brim, you missed seeing his face contort in pleasure when he was inside of you, you wanted him to never forget you again.
That’s why you feel so numb, can barely speak, and of course, Eddie notices, how unusually quiet you are, and he wants to make this unforgettable, just so you have another reason to come back to him. Just so you don’t leave him, just so you stay forever.
“Gone too quiet on me, honey, tell me what you need,” he coos down at you, thumb still caressing your pussy, and all you can fucking do is chew down on your bottom lips, eyeing his bulge that was begging to get out. And he barks out a goddamn chuckle, “P—please, Eddie.” Pathetically leaves your lips.
And normally he would make you beg, tease further, but he reaches to tug down his pants quickly, because fuck, he had missed you. And he can’t bear the thought of not being inside of you any longer.
Thinking is not your strongest suit right now either, your brain is mushy, all the nights and days spent thinking about him, about this explodes into your body. Your pussy aches when you finally see his cock again, a sound of need leaving your lips as you eye his length, so big that pleasure ripples through you, especially when you see his gushy tip, glistening with pre-cum.
You want every fucking inch inside of you, and Eddie’s more than ready to oblige, “What do you need, baby? Tell me.”
“Need you, Eddie,” you moan, all fucked out, his fingers slip in and out of you still, but it isn’t enough for him. He needs more, he craves your validation like he never has before.
“God, you’re soakin’ my fingers, princess,” he grunts, wedging himself between your thighs, weeping cock drips onto your inner thighs, making you moan breathlessly. “Tell me exactly what you fuckin’ want, honey.”
“Eddie.” His name sounds like silk, even when it’s so lewd, Eddie decides, and it makes him let out an impatient huff. “P—please. Need you to fuck me.” It’s so goddamn desperate that you can feel heat rise to your cheeks, but it’s everything to him.
“Want you to fuck me like you mean it.”
“Oh, that’s easy, sweetheart,” he grunts, lining his cock through your entrance, coating himself in your slick, enjoying your mewls before he doesn’t hesitate to push his cock inside of you, inch by inch, relishing the way you cry out for him.
Greedily, you rock your hips into him, making him let out a frustrated groan. “Have no fuckin’ idea how much I missed this greedy cunt, sweetheart, shit.” He thrusts in a few more inches, and breathless moans and babbles of his name fill the air.
“Suckin’ me right in, baby, fuck, you’re so pretty like this, mhmm.” His cock moves inside of you, and your hands are wrapped around his back, desperately clawing at it, the fullness making you want more, “you like that, baby, like bein’ full of me?” A heavy sound leaves his lips, pathetic and you pulse around him.
“S’so good Eddie, and s’big,” you barely manage to let out, and he watches you with that burning amber gaze, thrusting all the way in without hesitation. Those plushy lips that hang open, that filthy mouth, the prettiest fucking features—you, were going to be the death of him.
Maybe it’s because you had missed him, or maybe because you hadn’t experienced this in a long time, or fuck, maybe, just maybe that the song had created a new type of need between the two of you. Using sex as a sort of connection that the both of you desperately needed. But, shit, was it this different this time.
He felt different—his lips, touch, skin as it slapped against yours, it was different.
Full. You feel so fucking full that your back involuntarily arches against him, fingers clenching desperately, your screams and cries filling the room the more he plunges inside of you, deeper, hungry, and just as greedy as you.
“Yeah, better than that asshole?” It rolls off his lips so bitter and jealous that you can barely register it. Not being used to this possessive side of him, and it’s glorious, especially when he’s pounding his frustrations and insecurities into you.
“Mhmm, so much better.” You clawed at his back, every thrust of his hip making you feel higher and higher, mind filled with nothing but him.
“So pretty like this when you say my name, sweetheart… so goddamn beautiful, and all mine, yea?” He wants a confirmation, and wants to hear you say it, his head ducking between your breasts again to kiss, taste, suckle them. Make sure he never forgets it.
“Wanna hear you say it.” He hums, the vibrations reverberating through your chest straight into your core, cock plowed so deep inside of you that you can barely speak through your cries, hitting that sweet spot that every other asshole misses.
You’re too scared to give him what he wants. But you feel him, everywhere, and you still want more, of course, you’re his. That’s all you fucking wanted anyway. Plushy lips shake as you gaze up at him, his amber hues are so sticky-sweet that you still struggle to process it, words come out in a ramble “All yours, Eddie.”
His mouth crashes onto yours roughly, desire coursing through both of your bodies, almost interconnected. “Shit, fuckin’ hell sweetheart, ‘m not gonna last long.” His thrusts are getting sloppier, yet you feel the ravaging desire coursing through your veins.
“So perfect,” he murmurs, the kiss he lays on your lips just as relentless, not letting you breathe or think for a goddamn second, you’re so goddamn close.
And you wonder, how the fuck did you even go two months without this? Without him?
“Eddie!” You cry out once you feel the pad of his thumb rubbing against your clit, eyes squeezed shut as your orgasm washes over you. Pure bliss overtakes you while you claw at his back, his body tenses, and cock flexes as he cums inside of you, groans and curses left in your hair.
Minutes pass of you lying next to each other, breathless, processing everything that just transpired. And you should feel guilty, embarrassed, and should run to the hills for doing this with him again.
But you’re obsessed, addicted. He’s like an excitement that you’re sure you’ve never felt before, running through your veins, like a fucking drug.
Both of you get dressed in silence, the party booming outside is quick to bring the two of you back to reality, and out of the trance that he pulled you in.
He breaks your bewilderment with a slight “Fuck.” Standing on the opposite side of the bed before he fully turns to you. “This wasn’t—I was supposed to talk to you.” He mutters, fingertips anxiously running through his tousled hair.
Caught off guard and awfully curious, you mumble, “About what?”
“The song…”
“I told you I liked it.”
His brow furrows deeper, and he shakes his head in frustration. “No, that’s not it—uh, did you not listen to the lyrics?”
“I did.”
“And?”
Your face searches his for some clarity, you take a step closer to him, the distance between the two of you was still awfully much according to him. “What are you asking of me, Eddie? Did you really think one song would just solve everything?”
“You don’t get it, do you?”
“W—what am I supposed to get Eddie? You wanna have your cake and eat it too! And I just can’t fucking do that, not anymore.”
“That’s—that’s not it!” His voice wavers, with urgency, and desperation in his tone. He takes a step forward, attempting to bridge the emotional gap, feeling so fucking frustrated that he wants to rip his hair out.
“Then fucking explain it to me!” You plead.
“You want an explanation, fine! Fucking fine!” His frustration echoed through the room, pacing back and forth, making you take a deep breath.
Was he… actually gonna do this?
“You wanna know what the fuck I’ve been doing ever since you ghosted me?” He ran a hand through his hair, scared, gaze all mellow and vulnerable in a way you have never seen before. It makes your shoulders slump when you nod.
“I go to those stupid Hollywood parties, meet asshole rockstars—the most interesting shit, yet somehow someway the thought of you will pop up in my mind, uncalled for, might I add, and then I can’t stop thinking about it, can’t stop thinking about you the whole fucking day.” Your eyes widen, trying to absorb his revelation, yet he won’t stop rambling and you feel your chest tighten with each word, fuck, he’s finally doing it.
“I—I never—shit! I never thought myself capable of feeling things like this, but fuck, you came along, with that goddamn smile, throwing a manicured middle finger right in my face, a—and just put up with my bullshit.” His voice softened, and he couldn’t help but trace the contours of your face, to desperately know if you were on the same boat, and you look at him with such glistened eyes that his heart leaps to his stomach.
“My world flipped upside down, and you have proven me, so goddamn wrong that I don’t even know who the fuck I am anymore!” The tears almost welled in your eyes, because, fuck, there was no way this was real.
You reached out instinctively, the corner of your mouth twitching uncontrollably. “E—Eddie, please… please stop saying things you don’t fucking mean.”
“Things I don’t mean?” He gives you a breathy chuckle, ironic, and nowhere near funny. His eyes bore into yours, intense and searching. “Do you think I like feeling whatever the hell this is? I fucking don’t, you have me acting like someone I’m so unfamiliar with, to the point where it scares me. All I can think about is you, you, you, because you occupy every single space of my mind.” Your eyes soften, the room seemingly pulsing with his emotions, making you feel hot everywhere on your body.
He felt the same way.
Eddie felt the same way.
“B—but fuck I’m scared, honey, I’m so goddamn scared,” He admits, the vulnerability in his voice cutting through the tension before he’s at your side, calloused hands grabbing you by the shoulder, so softly that you melt into him.
“Because what if—what if all of this comes crashing down one day?” His voice trembles, gaze avoiding yours, he was scared, so goddamn scared of losing you. Forever. He doesn’t want that, he couldn’t afford that.
“Just two months away from you fucking sucked. I didn’t—I don’t wanna feel these things, but you make it so hard not to.”  His forehead rests against yours, making you suck in a deep breath, it’s all so fucking sentimental, and all you wanna do this kiss him, tell him you feel the exact same way. Tell him about your fears.
“And now I can’t fucking stop, fuck,” He confesses, admission punctuated by a frustrated sigh.
“I wrote you a song,” he gently caresses your cheek, and you’re so scared to look up at him, to meet his tender gaze, because you know you can’t hold yourself back.
“I came over to this party in a frenzy when I found out you’d be here,” he continued, his fingers tracing a delicate pattern along your jawline. “I—I just I haven’t even been able to touch another girl.” Your eyes snap open, you’re sure they’re almost heart-shaped now, with the adoration you look at him.
“And, do you actually fucking think I'd write songs for just anyone—” His question lingers in the air before you shut him up with a kiss, rough, sweet, and making Eddie feel dizzy all over, his head struggles to comprehend it all, breathless but he manages to react just in time.
The booming music becoming a mere background noise when he had you, mind swirling with all the possibilities and mouth begging to never stop tasting you. He wants to let you completely engulf him, feel you everywhere.
Everything he wanted and more.
He fucking hates himself for doing this, but he pulls away, mesmerized, eyes so wide that you can’t believe this is Eddie, he’s all flustered, salmon pink. And it makes a wider grin sit on your lips. “So… you—uh, what does this mean?”
You smile at him, lips widely stretching into a grin, as you shrug. “It means I feel the same, Eddie.” you admit, tone a tender reassurance. “That’s why I tried to shut you out… to try to move on, because I was scared—fuck, but I feel the same way.”
“So, does that mean we're dating now?”
“We can take things slow, figure everything out?” you mutter with a shy gaze, lips itching to twitch into a smile, again. “But I—uh—I like you, I really, really like you.”
“Gone soft on me already, sweetheart?” he mumbles with a stupid grin, making you elbow him softly, with an exaggerated playful huff.
He’s quick to flinch, rubbing his arm as if you even delivered a powerful blow. “Ow—what the hell is wrong with you?”
“You think I’m going soft? You’re the one who wrote his feelings as an exaggerated love song!”
He leans further slightly, his grin widening when you gave him those adorable eyes, finding you both equally amusing and endearing. “Oh… just you wait.”
You arched a brow, curiosity piqued, “What the hell does that mean?”
“The album is coming out soon, sweetheart. If you think this was an exaggeration, you should hear the whole fucking thing.”
That glint re-appears in your eyes just as quickly, gaze softening as you melt into his embrace.
“You’re an idiot, Eddie Munson.” You tease, scrunching your nose at him, so adorably that he leans down and presses a gentle kiss onto your hair.
He's an idiot, a total complete fucking idiot, but he's all yours.

Every Baby Needs a Daddy 4
Part 3
"And you said yes?", Robin said, her voice impressively even.
"I did", Steve said, phone on speaker as he got ready for work. "I figure, if he's going to have a sugar baby, might as well be me, right? I think this is the universe giving me a break."
"Okay, yeah, sure, until he takes you out and gets you involved in like drugs or something, or takes his anger out on you when he doesn't win a Grammy or something. Or worse, you're a mistress and his actual spouse comes for revenge. OR you actually get really involved with him, help him get even more famous, have very talented children, but then his drug running gets you arrested and when you get out of jail he acts like he doesn't know you and estranges your children!"
Steve paused in putting on his shoes, grinning. "You've been watching Empire."
"Terrence did Taraji so dirty Steve."
"But not enough to learn their characters' names. I need you to catch up so we can watch season 2 together." It hurt being away from her. Before, whenever one of them started obsessing over a show, they could literally sit down and put aside one of their days off to binge a bunch of episodes.
"Sorry, let's get back to you dating a rockstar? Steve? Steve."
"We're not dating. He's just gonna text me whenever he wants to fuck. That's it. He might buy me something nice from time to time." Steve grabbed his keys and went out the door, nearly stepping on something left on the floor in front of it.
"Okay, yeah, sure, but isn't this the reason you cut your parents out? Did they want this exact life for you?", Robin asked.
"No, this is totally different. For one thing, Eddie doesn't want commitment. He doesn't want kids out of me. And even if I attend events with him, I'm just arm candy, but you know, in a good way."
"There's a bad way to be arm candy?"
Steve thought back to the functions he had to go to when still under his parents' thumb. There was definitely a bad way to hang off someone's arm like a decoration. He looked to the little box in his hand. No note, but it had clearly been placed in front of his apartment.
He opened it and found an expensive looking watching inside. The face was a cool navy blue color. He didn't need a card to know who it was from.
"Eddie's different from the guys my parents wanted", Steve said. "And when it's over, I'll at least have something to show for it."
"Just don't be stupid about this, dingus. If this goes sideways, I won't be close by to save your ass."
"Noted", Steve said as he closed the box and continued on his way to work.
-------------------
The next time Eddie texted him, it was to go to lunch. It was a more casual setting than before, but still a pretty high end sushi restaurant.
"I must admit, I called you here under false pretenses, Steve", Eddie said as they sat in a booth.
Steve smiled at his serious tone. "I gathered, given our whole arrangement." Being taken out somewhere was typically a prelude for something intimate later, even in a normal relationship. When Eddie asked him out, Steve full expected sex. He wasn't complaining, last time had been very nice. He wondered how long until Eddie sent a simple 'u up?' booty call.
"I have to attend some fancy lunch meeting in a couple days and they're taking us to a sushi place", Eddie started to explain. "Problem is, I hate sushi."
"...Did you...are we here to train your taste buds or something?", Steve asked.
Eddie nodded. "These are some pretty important people and I can't sit there and tell them my favorite fish is whatever they use for fish sticks."
"Pretty sure it's cod."
"What? Nevermind. I just need to get one of everything and force myself to acquire a taste for it", Eddie said, eyes narrowing in focus at the menu.
Steve smiled. It was cute how serious he was being. He thought back to previous gatherings when some alpha would try and force a drink on him or when the hors d'oeuvres being served weren't to his liking.
"Want some advice?", he offered, continuing when Eddie nodded with his big Bambi eyes, "Instead of forcing yourself to like something, you should be able to say why you don't like something."
"Sounds like complaining", Eddie said, putting the menu down.
"No, you sound cultured", Steve clarified. "Watch." He cleared his throat and held up his glass of water. "Thank you for offering, but I only drink water from a natural spring. I prefer Canadian or Icelandic, but I'll take Swedish if you have it. Nothing from Switzerland though, it has this horrid mineral after taste to it." He set the glass down, adjusting under Eddie's wide eyed gaze.
"I don't know if that was bullshit or not but it sounded legit."
"It's legit what some girl said at a party once. I've never sourced where my water came from, but it works for just about anything. If you can articulate why you don't like something, it comes off better than just saying you don't like it."
"What kind of parties did you go to?", Eddie smirked.
Steve shrunk a little. "Just, you know, parties. So what's your experience with sushi?"
"Supermarket stuff", Eddie said simply.
"....You're kidding. How long have you been a rockstar?"
"I didn't realize this was an interview."
Steve tapped the table as he considered something. He looked to the other part of the restaurant. The bar where chefs were preparing the food. He almost asked Eddie a question directly, but remembered his role as a sugar baby. It wasn't his job to ask how much something would cost or even to ask Eddie to spend the money. All he needed to do was ask for what he wanted.
So he moved over to Eddie's side of the booth and leaned in close to his space. "I think you need something a little more...fresh."
"Fresh?", Eddie echoed as Steve led him to stand.
"And flavorful."
"Uh-huh."
"And satisfying", Steve whispered the last part before sitting down at the bar.
Eddie didn't know when Steve got him here but he did and he ordered something called 'omakase' and suddenly the chef's hands got really busy. He put a little filet of something on rice and then took a blow torch to it.
"I didn't know you could cook the fish..."
It was placed in front of him, but Eddie was still skeptical, which Steve noticed.
"'Omakase' means you're trusting the chef to pick out the best for you", he said. Then Steve took his chopsticks and picked up his piece. He ate it in one bite and Eddie subconsciously swallowed as he watched it pass his beautiful lips and then slide down that gorgeous throat. He wasn't even eating sexily, that was just how far gone he was.
Then Steve picked up Eddie's piece and held it to his lips. Eddie didn't even hesitate to open up and let it in. Tender rice, delicate fish, a total opposite to the sushi he'd experienced before. And it didn't stop there. The chef served cut after cut and each time, Steve asked him what he liked or didn't like.
Eddie was no slouch when it came to language. So he was able to come up with that on his own. He had just never considered respectfully refusing food and to do so with a haughty air deserving of a celebrity.
"Mmm, great choice on the shrimp", Eddie praised the chef. "Texture is superb. Sweet on the tongue too. Nice one, Tatsuro-san."
"Better than the crab?", Steve asked.
"I'm sorry, but nothin' beats an old fashioned crab boil for me. It's the only way I can eat crab."
"You've got opinions and you know how to voice them. I never imagined that be an issue for you, but I think you're ready now."
"Oh I've got opinions out the wazoo. I was just taught to never complain about food."
"Good boy", Tatsuro commented as he prepared something else.
"Very good", Steve agreed as an oyster on a half shell was put in front of him and Eddie.
Tatsuro winked at Eddie and he tried not to think about it as they finished up the course. He was absolutely not thinking about how oysters were an aphrodisiac, or how he'd had a great time, or how this felt like a date and not an outing with a hot piece. He wasn't doing a good job of being a sugar daddy, was he?
Time to fix that up right away. He paid for the meal, leaving a generous tip and led Steve out the restaurant, arm around his waist.
"You were extremely helpful. I can honestly say I like sushi now", he beamed. "And I think excellent service deserves a reward."
"You gonna give me a tip too?", Steve teased. And there was certainly a tip Eddie wanted to give him. Really the whole thing, but he had another idea in mind. And thankfully the appropriate place wasn't too far from here.
"You're buying me a suit?", Steve realized as they walked into a tailor's.
"I've got an eye for these kind of things. And you need something to match your new watch", Eddie said. He had a feeling Steve knew what to do, so he let him free.
Steve gave him a look and Eddie made a 'go on' motion. So Steve went, picking out different pieces for himself to assemble a new suit. There was a man awaiting any need of assistance and did so once Steve came out of the dressing room and stood in front of the mirrors.
Eddie was sitting before him, watching as Steve appraised his reflection and the tailor took some of his measurements. The suit was in silver, with a black shirt underneath. He finished of the look with a dark blue handkerchief in the chest pocket. It already looked great. Eddie knew he'd be breathtaking once it was bespoke. He ached to put his hands on him but public decency kept him from doing so.
"You look good enough to show off", Eddie praised.
"You look like you have somewhere in mind", Steve said, looking at the other man through the mirror.
"There's a shindig goin' down that I wouldn't mind having a date to."
Eddie put in the order for the suit to be done the day before the event. "Let's head back to my place."
This time, as they traveled, Steve was the one who couldn't keep his hands to himself. His hand stroked Eddie's thigh, getting close to where he wanted but never actually touching.
"What're you thinking about?", he asked when he noticed how hard Eddie was holding the wheel.
"Oysters. And you." And how he really should get a personal driver on hand.
Steve laughed softly and let a finger do circles on his crotch. "I think our chef was trying to be subtle. But I know what oysters are supposed to do."
"Oh?"
"And I don't need any culinary suggestion to get me in the mood." Honestly, he kind of felt like blowing Eddie now and probably would have chanced it if it wasn't still light out. "Can you be a good boy like he said?"
Eddie nodded.
"Good. Because we still have to take the elevator."
They didn't get as far as they did the first time they took this elevator but Eddie did attach himself to Steve's back and kissed at his neck. Once again, Steve could see their reflection in the wall. Eddie's eyes roamed his torso, wanting to go further but holding back. He only got bold enough to pinch a nipple through his shirt when the doors opened to their floor.
Steve only moved because of Eddie's prompting, finding it very easy to melt in his hold. They got about two steps out of the elevator before Eddie pushed him against the wall, kissing his lips and running his hands up under his shirt.
"Saw you lookin' at yourself in the elevator. Pretty baby likes how he looks?"
Steve's only response was to moan against his lips and rub against his leg. The closest camera was all the way at the end of the hall, though they'd be screwed if anyone opened up their door. He knew he looked good and liked looking good. And he'd seen the way Eddie's eyes were glued to him at the tailor's. That was a good feeling too.
Eddie took out his key card to open up his door and pulled Steve inside. They migrated to the couch, just needing to get horizontal. Steve lied underneath, Eddie's leg in between his again and providing friction as he rutted up against it. It was so hot, Eddie wanted to watch him get off just like this. If he got his pants off he could watch that sweet pussy drag-
Steve nearly jolted off the couch when a loud guitar riff sounded from Eddie's back pocket.
"Shit", Eddie hissed when he realized who was calling. He could ignore it, but he knew they'd just keep it up until they got to his door.
"You need to take that?", Steve asked, voice a little breathless.
"Just-just gimme a moment, it'll be quick." Eddie answered and Steve could be patient. He just couldn't be good and patient. He rubbed at Eddie's arm before taking his hand in his own. He brought it to his lips and swirled his tongue around his index finger, keeping his gaze down at first and then looking up at Eddie.
The man above him was speechless, up until whoever he was talking to shouted at him from the other end and got his attention again. Well, half of it anyway. The other half was on Steve sucking down two of his fingers now. Eddie groaned both in frustration and the beautiful man under him. Steve was only half following the conversation but it sounded like their time together might be cut short.
Eddie hung up with a sigh. "Baby...baby I gotta go."
"Right now?", Steve asked.
"Yeah but...but if you could, I mean you can stay here until I get done. It'll be quick, just a couple of hours tops. And I can take you out to dinner too."
"You want me to stay?"
Eddie's hair shook as he nodded. He stood up, glad he had a bit of time to calm his boner down. Then he saw Steve lying there on the couch, lips kissed wet and certain his lips farther down were just as glistening. He leaned over to cup him between the legs, feeling the warmth through his clothes.
"Don't forget who this belongs to", he growled when Steve whimpered.
"Okay." And because this man was sent from above, he whispered, "Daddy."
Eddie couldn't hold back then, kissing him hard, tongue marking his insides while rubbing Steve through his pants. He unzipped them, thinking he could just get him off quick when the ringtone sounded again. Pulling back was the hardest thing to do.
"Keep it nice and warm for me", Eddie said before fully removing himself.
"Hurry back."
And then Steve was alone. In a rockstar's hotel room. He thought about what a sugar baby might do when their daddy went off for what must be a very important but impromptu meeting, especially when it stopped such a heated moment. It became very obvious what he needed to do and so he headed straight for the bedroom.
Part 5
I need you to know that when I first envisioned this fic it was literally just supposed to be smut with connecting scenes but it somehow turned to "don't catch feelings" and "oops we're accidentally dating" the fic so here we are.

Eddie has strong feelings for Steve. Feelings he thought he had gotten rid of once Steve rescued him from hell. His hatred of him didn't even make sense, even before all of this. So, because he's a jock he has to be a jerk like all the rest? Eddie had made an assumption about him and Lucas just like they made about him. He hated that he had done that. It hadn't been his proudest moment. Now, those frustrating feelings are resurfacing, which is ridiculous because not only is he a good guy, but he is also a complete dork as well and he's so fucking great with the kids. He should be happy that he's friends with him, so why does his stomach feel like there's a bird trying to get out of its cage when he looks at Steve?
"Eddie, man, why are you scowling at me?" Steve asked.
He was hanging out with Steve, Robin, and Robin's girlfriend, Vickie. It was supposed to be a nice, casual get-together. Of course, Eddie had to ruin it.
"I hate you!" Eddie burst out.
There was silence in the living room as everyone stared at him. Steve looked hurt. Robin looked angry, and if Vickie wasn't holding her back, Eddie was sure she would rip out his throat with her bare hands.
"What?" Steve asked.
"It doesn't make any sense why I do, though!" Eddie burst out. "Because you're a great guy! Fantastic even! When I look at you, I get these feelings in my chest that annoy the fucking shit out of me. Everything about you is so fucking perfect like a goddamn prince out of a storybook! With your perfect hair, your perfect eyes, and your perfect teeth. My God, you're even great with the kids! When you talk about going out on dates, I hate that, too! I know you're just trying to do that to get over Nancy. Speaking of Nancy, I like her and all, but when I think about you two together, it makes my fucking skin scrawl! What the fuck is that? I mean, I like Nancy, but fuck, the idea of you two together makes me want to rip off my own eyebrows and eat them! Jesus H Christ! There's no reason for me to hate you, and yet somehow . . . Wait, why are you guys laughing?"
Vickie was giggling into Robin's shoulder while Robin laughed into a pillow. Steve was laughing with his hands over his eyes.
"He's so cute!" Vickie laughed.
"Why are you guys laughing at me?" Eddie asked. "Stop it!"
"You poor Dingus!" Robin laughed.
"What?!" Eddie asked.
"You like me, Eddie," Steve said.
"Yeah, I like you, but I also seem to hate you," he sighed.
"No, I mean, you like me," Steve said, standing up.
"You said that already," Eddie replied.
"Alright, can I do something so I can get my point across?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, do whatever you want to me, man," Eddie said and Steve grinned widely.
"Within reason, Steven!" Robin exclaimed.
Steve cupped his face and kissed him. Eddie gasped, a jolt of what felt like electricity shot through him. He liked it. The kiss was short and to the point. Steve pulled away.
"Oh, I like you! Oh, thank God! I thought I hated you! Wait, am I gay? No, I still like like girls. . .hold on, give me a minute," Eddie said, raising his finger to do invisible math in the air.
"You like this man, Steve?" Robin asked as they watched Eddie erase something.
"Oh, yeah," Steve replied.
"I've never actually seen someone figure out their sexuality before," Vickie said.
"Oh, I had a chance to do that with Steve. It was a wonderful experience. Definitely a lot less stupid than this," Robin said.
"I like both!" Eddie exclaimed, clapping his hands together. "And I like you!"
"I like both too, Eddie, and I like you too," Steve laughed. "I'm bisexual."
"Bi - sex - u - al," Eddie said like, drawing out the words, and he shook his head from side to side as if rolling the word around in his head. "Yes! Me too! Bisexual! Does this mean this is a double date now?"
Steve grinned, sat down on the love seat, and pulled him into his lap.
"Definitely," Steve said.
"Let me tell you, I feel this huge relief now that I know I like you," Eddie said. "I can't believe I thought I hated you!"
"Dingus!" Robin giggled.
"How long are you guys going to laugh at me about this?" Eddie pouted as Steve shook with laughter beneath him.
"Forever!"
Eddie buried his head into Steve’s neck as he laughed with them, sighing in contentment when Steve kissed his forehead.

Am I the Asshole?
Robin Buckley & Steve Harrington; Robin Buckley/Original Female Character(s); Steve Harrington/Original Character(s); Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson WC: 6052 | Rated: T | Tags: Modern AU, Reddit AU, Some AITA typical terrible people, QPR Steve & Robin, NB Steve, NB Robin AKA the Stobin AITA fic
r/AmITheAssshole u/HufflepuffHero94 9yrs ago AITA for being concerned about my girlfriends living situation?
Context: My (20F) girlfriend (18F) is amazing. She's a polyglot linguistics major, speaks three languages fluently and she's completely self-taught, a genius basically. We go to the same college (Midwestern Liberal Arts college) where we met in the marching band. Now R, my girlfriend, is from a small town. Like the kind of small town that they make jokes about in sitcoms, she isn't really online (so I'm not worried about her seeing this) because she claims they didn't even have the internet until she was in high school. She isn’t really “out” because of this. It’s like she lives in this semi-closeted space like some kind of TV queerbait character. It's not really a problem, I mean she’ll tell people we’re dating if they ask and all of our marching band friends know but when I ask about it she says it’s because it wasn’t really safe in her hometown growing up. But it’s 2014 not 1980…
Even though R is a freshman she’s in special accommodations. Instead of living in the dorms like the school usually requires she’s got a small, studio apartment just off of campus. A perk considering how awful living in the dorms is. R is a pretty private person and super studious. Most of our dates have been in the library or a study date at the coffee place on campus. She’s not big on PDA, she says she’s trying to get better at it but she’s still only sort of out and I’m her first real girlfriend. I was psyched when she asked me if I wanted to go with her to her apartment to study, said her best friend had a never fail study method that she was eager to try (and when she told me what it was I was pretty eager too).
R can’t drive, so when I pull into the parking lot of her complex she notices something and says her roommate hasn’t left for work yet. I’m a little confused because like I said she lives in a studio apartment, but she just brushes it off and says something about asshole parents and this being what they could afford when some money fell through. She’s sent me snaps from her place, so I know it’s pretty cozy so I tell her it’s fine. Obviously I’m concerned about what the set up is going to be like when we get up there but she insists that dingus (her words) will only be there for another couple minutes before they have to leave for work and that Stevie (again her words) is her best friend in the world. They moved here together from the same small town or something.
To give R credit, she’s definitely done the best she can with the space. When I walked it it definitely felt as homey as it does in her pictures. The door opened up into the kitchen and living room and she’s got those spaces divided off from the beds with one of those Chinese paper divider thingies. Anyway to make a long story short it turns out her roommate and best friend Stevie is actually a whole dude (19). He comes out, gives her a look and asks her if “us girls are planning a sleepover” and if he should make himself scarce for the evening. R says she doesn’t give him shit when his “special friends” come over and after that I kinda stopped listening. I slipped off into the apartment looking for the bathroom and that’s when I saw how their “bedroom” was set up. Twin beds INCHES apart, they might as well be sharing the same one.
Here’s where I might be the asshole. When her “friend” finally cleared out I told her the truth. I didn’t know how comfortable I was hanging out in her place where she lives with a guy. I do live in the dorms but I’ve got a single right now. I asked her to move in with me so she wouldn’t have to be in this situation. I guess it maybe sounded like I was dissing her friend, which I was but I didn’t mean for it to sound like that. I just think it’s weird that she won’t come out to anyone and is also living with some guy! I told her I wasn’t interested in being an experiment and if things were serious then she would want to move in with me.
That’s when she kicked me out and called me an asshole. But really I don’t think I’m being a dick for being concerned that she might just be jerking me along while she plays lesbian so she can tell her boyfriend about it at home. Even if nothing is going on I'm just worried that living in this kind of environment isn't safe for her. I mean this guy is probably just pretending to be her friend to get in her pants, I think the fact that they're from the same small town means she can't see that. I really think she would be better off if she moved into the dorms with me aita?

can you see me? (the way i see you)
summary: steve harrington had been your best friend for years. you had been there for every failed relationship, picked him up and brushed him off. all while being head-over-heels in love with the boy. but now things were getting more serious with his newest girlfriend and yous trent sure if your heart could handle it.
an: hey i literally hate this :D but wanted to write SOMETHING because it’s been so long !! i have a few more ideas i wanna hash out but life is so crazy at the mo! also side note: nancy wheeler i love u soz for making u the enemy<\3
!!: no use of y/n! a teensy bit of angst i suppose and very very brief eddie x reader
steve was your best friend.
was.
you still considered him your best friend but you weren’t sure that that feeling was reciprocated.
the pair of you used to spend pretty much every waking moment with one another. up until he started dating nancy.
quite honestly, you regretted even pushing him to ask her out. if you’d known that you were never going to see your best friend again you would’ve never been so encouraging.
if you’d known just how much your heart would ache seeing them together, how his doe eyes softened at the sight of her and his lips curled up into a smile at the mention of her name, you would’ve just kept your mouth shut.
the only times you ever really got to hang out with steve was at work, and even then sometimes nancy would be there.
you’re restocking one of the displays with robin, arm full of tapes when the bell dings and nancy walks through the door.
you barely give her a glance before steve is practically pouncing over the counter to get to her.
‘she’s here again?’ robin leans over and whispers to you, narrowing her eyes at pair of them kissing.
robin knew partially of your crush on steve, you hadn’t exactly told her just how much their relationship was hurting you but she had got the gist of it after your visible look of defeat you gave steve after he announced they were dating.
you roll your eyes, ‘they’re in looove, robin,’ you mock, watching as nancy giggles at something he whispers.
‘are you actually gonna do any work today, dingus?’ robin calls across the store, hands on her hips to show her disapproval.
steve straightens up, still holding onto nancy’s waist, ‘yes, yes i am.. but right now i’m going on my lunch break, is that okay with you, boss?’
‘you have thirty minutes, and i’m counting!’ she taps her watch as the couple traipse out the door, nancy clinging onto his arm.
‘god they make me sick,’ robin fake heaves, climbing to sit on the counter.
you chuckle, it was reassuring that you weren’t the only one with a distaste for their relationship.
robin gestures for you to join her, her eyes look pitifully at you, feeling bad for your unrequited love for steve.
you oblige and jump up onto the counter, leaning against her and sighing.
‘we need to find you someone else.. someone new and exciting,’ her hand finds yours, giving it a small squeeze.
‘rob.. i don’t want anyone else.. i’ll get over it eventually..’ you shrug, biting down onto your bottom lip.
‘hmm.. somehow i don’t believe that,’ she shakes her head.
you were extremely grateful for robin’s friendship. you’d only really connected after getting the job at family video but now you wouldn’t trade her for the world. especially with steve’s recent little escapade.
the day very slowly rolls on and steve eventually rocks back up, well over his allocated thirty minutes with his hair all messed up and flushed cheeks.
you ignore his very obvious demeanour and get on with your work, counting the minutes until you could go home.
-
robin slams the stiff door shut and clicks the lock, letting out an over exaggerated sigh of relief.
you follow steve into the parking lot where he turns to look at you, hand on top of his maroon car, ‘shit.. i can’t give you a ride tonight, i’ve gotta go and pick up nance.. but next time, definitely.’
you weren’t exactly ecstatic to be getting a ride with steve but it was a million times better than the bus and was now the only time it was ever just you two, how it used to be.
‘oh.. right,’ you stare at him, willing for him to just disintegrate in front of your eyes, ‘guess i’ll get the bus,’ you bite the inside of your cheek and spin on your heel towards robin who was watching your encounter.
‘i’m sorry! next time i promise i will!’ he calls out behind you before getting into his car and speeding off.
robin shakes her head, ‘what an asshole!’ she joins her arm with yours, heading towards the bus stop, ‘now are you ready to ditch him?’
‘ugh, i wish,’ you sigh, holding onto her arm and dramatically leaning your head on her shoulder in pure exasperation.
-
it had been a week since you’d seen steve, he’d called off from his last two shifts. a mysterious illness had meant you and robin were left to pick up his slack. much to robin’s dismay.
‘someone needs to give that boy a good smack, if you won’t i’ll do it,’ she groans as she rearranges her pile of vhs tapes into alphabetical order.
you were both stood waiting to see if steve was going to actually show up today or not, keith was starting to get aggravated with steve’s behaviour and for some reason you still felt the need to defend him, promising that he’d make up his lost shifts.
you couldn’t really explain why, he sure as hell wouldn’t have done the same for you but at the end of the day, he was, or once was your best friend, and you were undoubtedly, terribly in love with him.
steve steams through the door, pulling on his green vest and huffing and puffing that he was here.
‘nice of you to show up,’ keith quips, looking over at the flustered boy with a stern expression.
‘i’m sorry! my car.. i had to get gas and then there was traffic.. but i’m here! i’m here!’ steve practically screams, speed walking through to the back to clock in.
robin shoots you a look, rolling her eyes at his tardiness.
you can hear keith loudly reprimanding steve, complaining that he had to stay late to cover for him. in reality, he stayed twenty minutes later than he should to stand behind the counter and bitch about steve, either way you slyly appreciated steve getting told off.
keith eventually storms out of the room and out of the front door, you widen your eyes at robin and slink over to the back room to speak to steve, leaning against the wooden door frame as he angrily stuffs his stuff into his locker.
‘you good?’ you ask, eyeing his tense posture.
he runs a hand through his hair and turns to loom at you, ‘he’s a prick, i’m like.. five minutes late, not that big of a deal.’
‘hmm, try half an hour.. but yeah he is,’ you agree.
‘i was busy.. it’s just been..’ he sighs, his shoulders relaxing, ‘doesn’t matter, how have you been?’
‘i’m okay.. i wanted to ask you if you were still coming on friday? i know you’ve been sick and all..’ you tentatively ask.
friday was your twenty first birthday and you were finally going to host what was probably your first and last party at your new apartment.
‘err.. coming to what?’ steve asks, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
the date had been drummed into his head for months, with plans being discussed for weeks about who you were going to invite and what you were going to wear.
‘..my birthday? same day every year, steve,’ you scowl up at him.
his mind had been somewhere else entirely since getting with nancy, so much so he had forgotten his own best friends birthday.
‘oh shit! yes, yes of course i am,’ his eyes widen as he suddenly remembers why that date was so important.
‘you forgot, didn’t you?’
‘no! how dare you say that?’ he jokes, walking over and placing his hands on your shoulders, ‘i could never forget your birthday.. i’ve just been sick.. my brains all foggy.’
his attempts to redeem himself shouldn’t work, but they do. his big brown doe eyes gleaming down at you absolutely do not help as you’re already putty in his hands, ready to accept his apology.
you never could stay mad at steve. one time back in school he had genuinely forgotten to pick you up one morning, the same morning hawkins had decided to have torrential downpour, so you turned up to school resembling a drowned rat, soggy and miserable. but when steve had seen you storming towards him and realised his mistake, he dropped to his knees in the corridor, hands clasped together and already pleading for your forgiveness.
which you gave, of course. you were in love with the boy for christ’s sake, how could you not?
you attempt to hold onto your anger, jutting out your bottom lip but when he flashes that stupid cheesy grin you can’t help but return the smile and have to turn away before he notices how flushed your cheeks had become.
robin looks on in disgust and you scrunch up your face in return, getting back to your work and trying not to catch yourself staring at steve.
-
friday rolls around and there’s a steady stream of people entering your apartment, music blaring and drinks flowing.
you’d told everyone to get there for nine.
it was now bordering on ten and steve still hadn’t showed his face, which you try to not let damper your mood but it inevitably does.
robin is the first to notice, handing you a red cup full of a mysterious liquid that she practically forced you to down.
‘he’s an asshole, don’t let him ruin your night!’ she shouts into your ear, her hand on the small of your back.
you go to reply, being interrupted by the boy himself walking towards you, nancy in tow with a stoic expression painted on her face.
you don’t even mean to but you jump up, reciprocating his hug, ‘you’re late!’ you say into his ear.
‘i know.. i’m sorry.. we uh- happy birthday!’ he pulls back slightly, leaving a short kiss on your cheek.
you grin, letting go of his body and giving nancy a slightly awkward half-hug, thanking her for the birthday wishes.
‘let’s get you a drink!’ you pull steve into the kitchen, followed by robin attempting to make small-talk with nancy.
your pour a bottle of clear liquid into a cup, slightly over pouring due to your own intoxication and hand him the drink.
there’s some chatter with the couple before she inevitably takes him away, moving to their own corner of the kitchen.
maybe if you weren’t so drunk you wouldn’t have felt your heart sinking when his hand tenderly touches her arm, leaning in to whisper into her ear.
robin yanks you away from the kitchen and into the living room, ‘no! not tonight,’ she holds onto your hand, forcing you to move along to the music.
at some point someone suggests a game of spin the bottle and you groan, ‘i didn’t think we were still teenagers?’
‘oh stop it, it’s fun,’ robin says, taking a seat on the sofa and turning the music down a notch so you could all hear each other.
you end up sat next to eddie, who you knew back from high school, he ended up having to repeat a couple of years so ended up in a few of your senior classes.
the empty glass bottle is placed on the floor and you all look around, willing someone to go first.
‘well if none of you pussies are gonna do it, i will,’ eddie announces, leaning down to spin the bottle.
it spins and spins before stopping.. on you.
‘guess i gotta show the birthday girl some lovin’,’ he turns to face you and you roll your eyes but move towards him.
again, if not for the alcohol, you would’ve been a hell of a lot more bashful about this very public display of affection but you lean into him, his lips landing on yours.
your eyes flying shut and your hand resting on his cheek as his hand moves to the back of your neck, holding you in place.
you’re interrupted by someone loudly clearing their throat and you pull apart, hand still caressing his cheek.
you look up to find steve and nancy had entered the room, ‘what the hell have i just walked in on?’ steve asks.
you giggle, shuffling away from eddie, ‘s’just spin the bottle.. duh,’ you respond, shaking your head at him.
‘oh, duh,’ he remarks sarcastically, ‘can i speak to you for a sec?’
you furrow your brows but stand up from the sofa, eddie’s hand still lingering on your back, flashing him a small smile before walking over to steve.
you felt so silly. you were kissing a genuinely nice, attractive guy, and enjoying it too and yet you would still drop everything as soon as steve asked you to.
‘i think we’re gonna head out.. i just wanted to say bye before we left, have a good night,’ he murmurs, nancy standing stone-faced beside him.
‘you’re joking! i’ve hardly seen you.. you literally just got here!’ you frown at him, slightly infuriated that your supposed best friend couldn’t even hang around at your birthday party for at least an hour.
‘i know.. nance isn’t feeling too well.. we just wanted to come and wish you a happy birthday and that..’ he gives you a small, apologetic smile but disregard it.
‘you couldn’t even show up on time and now you’re leaving after barely being here an hour?’ you reply, slightly louder than expected.
‘i’m sorry.. i’ll make it up to you, chick,’ he reaches out to touch your arm but you recoil, the use of that nickname, one that had been given to you in high school and now only came came out when steve was apologising or trying to get his own way, making you pull back.
‘no.. don’t bother, it’s fine,’ you grit, tensing your jaw in an attempt to not say anything meaner to him.
‘c’mon.. don’t be like that.. you looked plenty occupied when we walked in anyway,’ he remarks and if it weren’t for nancy standing literal millilitres away from him, you could’ve sworn there was a twinge of jealousy in his voice.
‘what’s that supposed to mean?’ you glare at him.
his mouth opens and promptly shuts, leaving him looking like a gawping fish, ‘nothing.. look i’ll see you soon, okay? i’ve gotta take nance back..’ he places a hand on her back and basically pushes her out of the front room.
you exhale, spinning around to find that luckily everyone had gotten back to the game and ignored whatever the hell had just happened between you and steve, everyone except robin, who’s eyes were planted on you, that sad, pitying look.
she’s quick to jump up, already forcing her cup into your hand, ‘don’t even think about it.. it’s your birthday and that.. he’s not ruining your night, okay?’
you nod, appreciative of your best friend’s kindness and down the cup of liquor she’d handed to you, ready to squash the thought of steve out of your mind.
-
you wake up to robin poking your arm, groaning at the feeling in your head.
‘rob.. please no, i’m fragile,’ you grumble, but rolling over to face her, that cheeky grin on her face.
‘how ya feeling, buttercup?’ she asks.
‘like shit,’ you complain, curling up into the blanket.
‘well i’m not surprised, i’m glad you had a good night though,’ her hand reaches out to brush the hair from your face.
‘please tell me i didn’t embarrass myself?’
‘uh.. nah..’ she replies, slightly hesitant.
‘oh god… what did i do?’ you close your eyes, bracing for whatever embarrassing story she was about to relay.
‘well uh.. you remember kissing eddie, right?’
‘yeah.. just about..’
‘well.. you called him steve and then i caught you showing him to your room.. and that’s when i put you to bed.. see it’s not that bad,’ she tries to reassure you but she can’t stifle her smile.
you groan, pulling the duvet up and over your head, ‘no.. oh my god,’ you cringe at your own actions.
‘look, he was definitely way too drunk to remember.. don’t worry about it,’ she yanks the duvet down, exposing you to the harsh light.
‘i’m never drinking again, seriously,’ you complain, pouting at robin.
she laughs, ‘it’s really not that big of a deal.. trust me.’
‘i don’t believe you but i’m going to ignore all of that because i’m starving.. shall we get food?’
‘i am very down with that.. but you need to brush your damn teeth first,’ she giggles, moving away from you.
‘bitch,’ you joke, rolling out of the bed.
you were hoping to god that by some grace of god that eddie had forgotten. robin was the only person who knew of your unrequited love for steve and you were hoping that it’d stay that way.
-
you’re basically shaking as you walk into work, not wanting to face steve. it wasn’t exactly an argument but you were still pissed off with him and definitely didn’t want to stare into his grovelling eyes as he begs for your forgiveness.
there was no way you could stand up for yourself against him, no way you could ever tell him how much his and nancy’s relationship was hurting you, not without ending up telling him that you were head over heels for him.
you don’t see him as you walk into the store, waving at robin who flashes you a warning glance.
you look back, puzzled until you reach the back room and find steve on the phone, his knuckles white from his death grip on the piece of plastic.
he glances up at you before putting his other hand on the wall, ‘nancy, i have to go… no… i’m at work for fuck’s sake… look-… i’m going now… i’ll call you when i’m done,’ he slams the phone back onto the wall and sighs.
you silently place your things into your locker, your back to him.
‘well that didn’t sound great,’ you mumble, faffing about with your bag.
‘i just- i can’t.. every single day there’s something, i’m always in the wrong,’ he says, lightly hitting the brick wall.
you close your locker and look at him, ‘honeymoon phase has worn off, huh?’ you wanted to be kind but you were rightfully still pissed off at his disappearance on friday.
to be fair to steve, most of his relationships seemed to fizzle out by the second or third month, so to now only be experiencing this with nancy was an anomaly. girls got tired of his flirty nature and decided they’d had enough, or steve got bored, the excitement of a new relationship wearing off.
he scoffs, ‘yeah you can say that again.’
you raise your eyebrows, going to walk out of the room when his hand grabs your wrist, stopping you.
‘i just wanted to say i’m sorry.. i wanted to stay but nancy was complaining about something and if i’m not immediately jumping to her assistance then i get it in the neck,’ those soft eyes once again working their magic.
‘yeah.. it’s fine steve..’ his hand his still wrapped around your wrist and the simple feel of his fingers on your skin is enough to make you crumble.
‘no.. i’ve been a shitty friend- best friend, i wanna make it up to you, how about we do something after work? my treat?’ he blinks down at you, the corners of his lips twitching into a small smile.
‘no nancy tonight?’ it leaves your mouth without a second thought to how jealous it made you look.
he chuckles, ‘no, just me and my best friend.. like the old times.’
‘well.. if you’re paying, sure,’ you smile at him.
he rolls his eyes, dropping your wrist, ‘yes.. of course.’
before you can reply, the bell that resided on the front counter dings rapidly and you spin to see robin standing there abusing the metal dinger.
‘could use a little help out here, if you’re not too busy,’ she raises her eyebrows.
you walk out into the store, smiling to yourself for the duration of your shift, knowing that you were finally going to get some steve alone time.
-
sat in steve’s car after work, music playing out of the stereo and he’s quietly humming along and it feels exactly how it used to, before nancy was around, before your feelings had become incredibly complicated for him.
‘where are we going?’ you ask, still in your family video uniform, not wanting to have to be out in public in the green waistcoat.
‘i thought we could go and grab some food and then.. movie at yours?’
‘sounds good to me,’ you smile, ‘.. i’ve missed hanging out with you.’
you didn’t just miss hanging out with him, you missed him as a whole. how comfortable he’d be with you, how easy conversation just slipped off your tongue with him, sharing soft touches that now felt too awkward.
‘i missed you too.. i really am sorry that i’ve sorta just.. ditched you,’ he turns down the volume and pats your knee, causing your heart rate to go through the roof.
‘yeah.. you kinda did,’ you admit, shrugging.
he sighs, ‘i thought nancy was the one, you know? different than those other girls..’
‘you don’t think so anymore?’
‘i dunno.. she’s just always mad at me for something.. like i can’t do anything right,’ his shoulders slump.
‘maybe she’s just.. projecting.. i dunno, like she feels like she’s messing up and that’s how she’s showing it,’ it hurts to defend her, but you saw how much he was pining for her before they began dating, coming into work everyday with a new plan to make her agree to go out with him.
‘nah..’ he shakes his head, ‘i don’t think so.. like on your birthday she wanted to go, so we left and then we got back to her house and suddenly she was upset saying i should’ve stayed since it was your birthday.. like what the fuck?’
‘hmm.. i don’t know then,’ you shrug, looking down at your lap.
‘weird, right? anyway.. this is not about my relationship.. let’s stop talking about it,’ he pulls into the parking lot of your favourite burger chain.
-
the pair of you are lazing on the sofa, chatting over the movie playing on the tv when your phone rings causing steve to jump and knock over the half-empty can of beer.
‘nice one doofus,’ you say as you get up to answer the phone.
the voice on the other end takes you by surprise.
‘oh.. hello, nancy.. how are you?’ as soon as steve hears the name he shoots up from mopping up the liquid, shaking his head and motioning across his neck.
‘i am not here,’ he mouths.
‘uh… no, haven’t seen him since we finished work.. why is something wrong?’ you ask, glaring over at steve.
‘oh.. okay, well if i see him i’ll let him know… yeah, you too.. bye,’ you put the phone down and place your hands on your hips.
‘what the fuck, steve?’
‘what did she want?’
‘she wanted to know where you were.. apparently you were supposed to call after work,’ you stare at him, stern faced.
‘ohh shit, i forgot.. i’ll call her when i get home.. not that deep,’ he sits back on the couch and you join him although now further apart than you were before.
‘steve,’ you tut, ‘she sounds pretty pissed..’
‘when does she not?’ he rolls his eyes, ‘probably wants to yell at me for some shit i did or didn’t do right.’
‘i think she was just worried.. you better call her later and do not ever make me lie for you again, okay?’
steve turns his head to look at you fully, trying but failing to stop the laugh from coming out of his mouth, ‘you sounded like my mom then.. with your hands on your hips all bossy.’
‘oh shut up,’ you shove his shoulder, but can’t help the smile forming on your face.
he shuffles closer and leans his head down on your lap, eyes still looking up at you, ‘i’ve really missed this.. i hadn’t even thought about nancy once until then..’
you gaze down at him, trying to resist the urge to confess your feelings for him, wanting nothing more than to lean down and kiss his perfect pink lips.
‘it’s been nice.. you’re always nicer when you don’t have a girlfriend..’ you murmur.
he pouts up at you, ‘that’s not true.. i’ve been wanting to ask, what’s going on with you and eddie, huh?’
‘what? nothing,’ you shake your head, suddenly terrified of the possibility that those two had seen each other and eddie had told steve about your little freudian slip.
‘i’m just asking, you looked pretty close at your party.. that’s all,’ he sits up, leaning on his elbows, now only inches away from your face.
‘it was just a game, that’s it,’ you assure him, if only you could tell him just how much you didn’t want eddie, and wanted him instead.
‘so you don’t want me to put in a good word for you?’
‘no! besides, why would i want a boyfriend when i already have to put up with you?’ you joke, trying to change the subject.
‘you don’t put up with me you love me and love spending time with me,’ he smiles.
if only he knew just how much you really did love him.
‘hmm.. i suppose so,’ you admit defeat, he hadn’t broken eye contact once and quite frankly his stare was becoming quite intimidating.
you look back up at tv, hoping that he couldn’t feel the pounding in your chest, ‘you’re missing the movie.’
‘it’s boring anyway, i’m trying to talk to you,’ he pokes your arm, attempting to pull your attention back to him.
‘well i want to watch the film,’ you say pointedly, one more stare away from confessing your feelings for him and ruining years of your friendship.
‘look at me..’ he murmurs, another poke to your cheek which causes your eyes to flick back to his.
‘steve..’ you were seconds away from the words tumbling out of your mouth, his chocolate eyes softening at the use of his name. if this was how he acted with other girls when he was in relationship, there’s no surprise that it never worked out.
‘i just.. want your opinion on something, and be brutally honest,’ he shuffles closer, his back now leaning on your outstretched legs, ‘what do you think i should do about nancy.. truthfully.’
you sigh, ‘you really want me to be honest?’
‘yes,’ he nods.
you swallow, ‘i think.. i think you should end it.. i don’t think you’re happy and i don’t think she is either.. you’re only gonna end up hating each other if you keep dragging this out,’ it was entirely everything you wanted to say but it was your partial truth, sparing him of the details of your love.
‘okay,’ he exhales, ‘i feel like i’ve dated every last girl in this godforsaken town and i just.. i dunno.. it’s stupid.’
your heart beats faster, except me, ringing in your head.
‘you haven’t dated everyone.. maybe the one isn’t in hawkins.. how would you know?’ you say, biting your bottom lip.
‘i think she is.. i just.. don’t know if she knows it yet..’
you furrow your brows, puzzled, ‘what?’
‘i’m talking about..’ he trails off and breathes out before moving closer, softly placing his lips on yours.
you freeze for a second, unsure of what to do next. you’d thought about this exact situation many, many times but still had no idea how to react.
he pulls back, ‘shit.. i’m sorry..’ he goes to move away from you but you place your hand on his chest, causing him to look back into your eyes.
his lips crash onto yours again, slightly harder this time as you return the kiss, trying to pull him closer.
he sits up properly, not once breaking the kiss and moves his hand to caress your cheek.
‘mmm- no- steve..’ you pull away but his lips chase yours, lingering over your mouth as he groans.
‘w-what?’
‘i can’t.. i can’t do this,’ your hand attempts to push him back but he doesn’t budge.
‘why? what’s wrong?’ his eyes now open and looking back at your eyes brimming with tears.
you shake your head, ‘don’t do this to me if you don’t mean it,’ the lump in your throat growing.
‘i’m- sorry.. have i got the wrong idea here..’ he stumbles over his words, eyes searching your face.
you frown, unable to stop the tears from sliding down your cheek, ‘steve..’ here goes nothing, ‘if you’re just using me because you’re mad at nancy.. then don’t, god knows i’m far too in love with you to handle that..’ the lump finally dislodges and a sob escapes your lips.
‘i’m not.. you’re.. you’re in love with me?’ his face drops slightly and your heart sinks, immediately regretting ever saying anything.
you should’ve pushed him off. should’ve sent him home telling him to apologise to nancy. should’ve never kissed him back.
you nod, scoffing at the absurdity of it all, how your best friend, the man you were painfully in love had just kissed you and now you were admitting to your feelings in the strangest of situations.
he stares up at you, mouth agape and you want to just shove him away, completely unprepared for the inevitable rejection about to tumble out of his mouth.
‘i.. uh- i wish you’d said something..’
you look back up at him, wiping away the stream of liquid coming from your eyes, ‘what do you mean?’
he chuckles slightly and you freeze, was he going to laugh in your face? was he going to tell you that you were fucking stupid for ever thinking this could ever work?
but he just smiles up at you, ‘god.. i thought i was so stupid.. you know, i thought there was no was no way you would feel the same way.. you don’t give much away,’ he says.
you blink back at him, still digesting his words, trying to fully comprehend what he had just said, that your feelings weren’t just one sided.
you swallow, unable to find the correct words to reply to him.
‘are you okay?’ he dips his head down to touch his forehead with yours, maintaining the deep eye contact.
‘i-i.. oh my god.. i thought you were going to hate me..’ you stumble over the words, moving your hand to clasp his cheek.
your heart beats a thousand miles per hour in your chest, honestly surprised it hadn’t ripped through your skin by itself.
‘i don’t think i could ever hate you,’ he says, his breathe tickling your cheek.
he doesn’t believe you when you tell him how long you’d felt this way about him, you were so so sure that you’d given yourself away a multitude of times but steve wasn’t exactly the brightest nor the most observant.
and he sits there remembering all the times he was going to tell you about his feelings but chickened out, ‘you were so.. adamant about nancy.. so i just thought you weren’t interested.’
it really couldn’t be any further from the truth, only wanting to push him towards nancy to stop yourself from being hurt.
but now you didn’t have to, he was undoubtedly yours. there was no need to hide away or pretend that you were pleased about whichever new girlfriend he was bringing around this time, your best friend was yours.

Idk if it was u or someone else that has already done this but I need Steve so out of it (hit his head or high or sum??) he literally forgets to speak English- like maybe he’s just saying stuff in Italian and he’s so confused bcuz no one understands him and he realizes he’s speaking his first language and not English.
Also the party would be drooling after him like?? He’s already cute and he speaks more then one language? Literally screaming!!!
tbh i've probably written something similar to this but for you anon, i'll do it again.
--
steve was walking, and if we want to get technical, he was really wandering, with robin trailing behind him. they weren't paying attention, they weren't really thinking, so.
it just so happened that steve wandered right into an opening door, and he fell back and smacked his head on the side walk. robin proceeded to lose her shit, cackling loudly before realizing he'd actually been hurt.
"oh, shit. dingus. are you okay?"
"oh fuck, i killed him!"
and what a surprise that was. eddie just so happened to cause this brutal door attack. his head was already swimming from the fall and now he has to form words around eddie? really?
"non sono mort." he mumbled, reaching back to run the spot where he hit his head.
"oh my god. he's having a stroke, he can't talk. call 911!" eddie was always one for the dramatics.
"robin, smettila di urlare. per favore."
"is that... italian??"
"non essere ridicolo. sto parlando un inglese semplice."
"steve. oh my god. parli italiano sul serio."
and that caused him to realize what he'd been doing.
"oh no! ha fatto perdere il mio inglese!"
robin doubled over in laughter. she knew it wasn't serious enough to call an ambulance, just knocked a few screws out of place.
"what? what'd he say?! oh my god. i changed steve's language. quick find the reset button!"
this only caused robin to laugh harder, her face turning red and tears leaking from her eyes. steve started to giggle at the sight, but eddie was still watching them, wide eyed.
"are- did i hit steve so hard it started effecting you too?"
as robin sobered up, she took a few shuddering breaths before she realized what just happened. "you speak italian! since when?" she shoved her finger in steve's face.
he groaned, "since always." he brightened, "hey! it's back."
"so i- i didn't change your language?"
"no. he's bilingual."
"oh! so you just decided that for me? you told me that stuff was personal, rob. but what does that have to do with you speaking italian?"
robin laughed shortly, "that's bisexual, dingus. bi lingual means you speak two languages."
"oh. then yeah. im bilingual."
"yeah, we've covered that. but since when?"
steve shrugged. "it'd be odd if i couldn't talk to my mom, right?"
robin shook her head. "it's like every time you open your mouth i found out some new lore about you, steve." and he just shrugged.
and eddie was still there watching this whole thing, trying not to pop a stiffy at the idea of steve speaking italian to him, all slow and sexy- no! bad eddie! steve is hurt, this is not the time.
"so." he dragged out. "i'm okay, ed's." steve assured. "yeah. okay, um. are you... so like. you're one bi... are you the other bi too... or?" eddie said awkwardly.
steve blushed and robin gagged. "yeah. is this your way of asking me on a date?"
eddie nodded dumbly.
"okay. tomorrow? bennys at 6?"
"uh. uh huh."
"sounds good, ed's. i should probably get my head checked out now. a domani, amore mio."
and that was it. suddenly eddie felt like he just got hit with a door. he was still reeling from the interaction when robins distant squealing broke him from his trance.
he shook his head.
steve's got more layers than he thought.
// i did use google translate so it won't be accurate.
"i'm not dead."
"robin, stop yelling. please."
"don't be ridiculous. im speaking plain english."
"you're speaking italian. seriously."
"oh no! he knocked my english loose!"
"see you tomorrow, my love."

𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: steve gets jealous over your friendship with eddie.
𝗮/𝗻: i finished stranger things which absolutely broke me and i am officially in a steve mood so i decided to try out writing for him :D i hope u guys like it!!
𝘄/𝗰: 1.1k
Tumblr media
“i can’t stand that kid” steve mumbles to dustin, watching you laugh at whatever horrible joke eddie is telling you.
right now it was late at night, and your friend group, consisting of the kids + nancy, jonathan, robin, and eddie, were hanging out at steves house.
“hey! ‘that kid’ is my friend for your information. it’s not his fault that he’s not a loser and isn’t afraid to actually flirt with y/n.” dustin retorts.
“yeah yeah, whatever. i should’ve just ignored you and not invited eddie.” steve says bitterly while ripping his gaze away from you, frustrated at eddie stealing all of your attention while at his own house.
“dude, stop being such a wimp and make a move on her already. it’s so obvious she likes you.” dustin encourages, tired of hearing steve whine about you.
“it’s so obvious who likes who?” robin enthusiastically chimes in loudly after overhearing dustin.
“jesus christ robin, can you talk any louder?”  steve groans, annoyed at everything right now.
“well okay then, what has your panties in a twist?”
“steve is throwing a tantrum because eddie is hogging up all of y/n’s attention.” dustin says blandly.
“i’m not throwing a tantrum!”
“dingus, are you blind or are you stupid?” robin starts. “y/n so clearly likes you that just looking at the way she looks at you makes me want to vomit. stop being a coward and go talk to her”
“you guys are just telling me what i want to hear–”
“you know what, i can’t listen to you whine like a baby anymore” dustin says before he stands up and starts walking towards you.
“dustin what the hell are you doing?! get back over here now” steve frantically whisper-yells, afraid of what dustin is going to say to you.
“hey y/n! steve was just about to go and pick up some pizza for us. you should go with him so he doesn’t have to drive at night alone. you know he sucks at directions.” dustin suggests to you to which you happily oblige.
“oh sure, i’ll go! steve are you ready?” you say while standing up getting ready to leave.
“y-yeah, let’s go” steve stutters while following you out the door and also leaving himself a mental note to never tell dustin anything ever again.
trailing in front of you, steve opens the passenger door of his car for you to enter, trying his best to be a gentleman, which made you smile and give him a small thank you.
“soo, you and eddie seem to be close” steve says while driving, talking over the music playing on the radio.
“yeah, he’s a pretty good friend of mine” you say as you smile, oblivious to the bitter look on steves face.
“oh, that’s nice… do you- um do you like him?”
“what?! that’s insane, of course i don’t. why do you ask?” you exclaim.
“ahh i don’t know. just curious i guess.” steve says, looking conflicted which causes you not to question any further.
after five minutes of driving and listening to open arms over the radio, steve parked his car on the side of the road.
“steve what are you–”
“can i tell you something?” he cuts you off, asking more as a statement than a question.
“um, sure? what is it?”
“i like you. so so much. seeing you with eddie or any other guy for that matter makes me so incredibly jealous. it hurts my heart so much when i think of someone else being with you. taking you out on dates. making love to you. we’re not even in a relationship and i already envision starting a huge family with you and being able to travel across the world with you and our kids. i’m sorry if i’m making you uncomfortable, but i need you to know how much i like you. it’s okay if you don’t feel the same way. i just needed you to know.” steve finally finishes, leaving you sitting there with your mouth slightly agape, in complete shock.
“steve, you don’t understand how happy you just made me” you start, already seeing steves face light up. “i have liked you for so long, i’ve just been too scared to say anything. i thought you and robin had a thing.”
“me and robin?! trust me, you don’t have to worry about that. you’re the only one that i want.”
“well, since you like me and know that i like you, why don’t you ask me out already?” you say cheekily.
“you’re too cute.” steve says, already gaining back his confidence after hearing your confession to him. “step out of the car for a second.” he orders as he steps out of the car and opens the passenger door for you to walk out.
“what are you doing?” you question as he guides you to the front of the car, lifting you on top of the hood so you both are at eye level.
“y/n y/ln” he starts.
“you are so amazing and beautiful and funny and lovely and adorable and–”
“alright, i get it steve!” you say giggling, wondering what he’s about to do.
“will you make me the happiest man alive and be my girlfriend?” he asks, already smiling because he was able to make you laugh.
“hmmm” you pretend to think. “yes!”
that was all he needed to hear before placing your face in his hands and giving you a kiss.
“i have been waiting so long to do this” he mumbles into the kiss.
“you and me both”
stepping away from you, steve looks up into the sky and starts shouting like a man who just won the lottery.
“you hear that everyone! y/n y/ln is my girlfriend! steve harrington is dating y/n y/ln!” he screams, making you laugh and try to shush him.
“steve shut up! you’re going to wake people up!”
“i honestly don’t care. i need everyone in hawkins to know you’re my girl now. totally not in a sexist possessive douchebag way, simply in a i’m yours and your mine type of way” he starts rambling, not wanting to cause you to run off from him already.

What about nurse Steve having a week off for vacation and to Eddie’s surprise he turns up at the office about three days in. Turns out Steve came down with a wicked cold and had to cancel his trip, and now he’s getting a sinus infection and has to come see Eddie as a patient for antibiotics (idk if that’s allowed but it still seems fun lmao)
Anon, this is SO GOOD! I’ve had this in my inbox for like a week because I wanted to make sure I did it justice. Please enjoy 1.6k of sick Nurse!Steve and Doctor!Eddie

Tumblr media
“Hey Robin, here’s the chart for Mr.Jones. Doctor Munson would like to follow up in about six weeks.”
Robin looked up and locked eyes with the bubbly girl standing in front of her. Chrissy was a nurse from one of the other clinic locations, filling in for the week while Steve was on vacation in Chicago.
“Thanks Chrissy!” Robin took the chart and placed it in front of her, watching the strawberry blonde’s high ponytail bounce as she walked away.
Robin smiled and began typing in the computer as Mr.Jones appeared at the little window by her desk.
“Sounds like it’s going to be six weeks until the follow up Mr.Jones. You want another Thursday appointment?”
“Only if it’s Doctor Munson.” The man chuckled.
Robin jokingly looked left and right before whispering, “I’ll make sure it is.” She wrote down the new appointment information on a business card and handed it to the man who smiled and nodded on his way out, leaving Robin to type the appointment notes in the computer.
Mr.Jones - 6 week f/u for BP. Requests Dr.Munson. Thursdays work best due to his work schedule.
She dated and initialed the appointment note as her phone vibrated in her pocket. She wasn’t usually one to check her texts at work, but seeing that it was a slow day, she took a peek. To her surprise it was a text from Steve.
Hey Robin. Can you do me a favor?
She typed back quickly,
‘Hey Steve-o, what can I do ya for?’
The response came quicker than she expected.
Does Eddie have any gaps in his schedule today?
‘Mmm yeah he’s got an opening at 2, but don’t worry about it. Go eat deep dish pizza or whatever you do in Chicago.’
I didn’t go
Even though he couldn’t see her face, she was visibly puzzled by this.
‘Steve why are you not in Chicago and why are you asking me about Eddie’s schedule??’
Before she could interrogate him more, her phone lit up with a picture of his face. He was calling. She quickly glanced at the waiting room making sure no one was there.
“Steve?” She whispered, “I’m at work, Dingus. What do you want. And why aren’t you in Chicago??”
“I need- H’AESSSH! ISSSHHH!! ITSSCHIEW!”
Robin pulled the phone away from her ear, startled by the loudness. When she finally put the phone back to her ear, he was blowing his nose, “Gross Steve.”
“I know. I need an appointment. Got sick over the weekend, cancelled the trip. snrff It’s only getti’g worse.”
Robin sighed, “Yeah you sound awful. No offense. I’ll put you in for the 2pm yeah?”
“Tha’gks Robin.”
“See you soon.”
As soon as she hung up, she pumped some of the hand sanitizer from her desk onto her hands, rubbing them together. Steve sounded contagious and she wasn’t going to risk it.
She slipped the phone back into her pocket and pulled up Steve’s file on the computer, printing out a blank chart for him. She circled some information with her pen that had the bobbles on top and then set it to the side for later.
***
Steve rolled into the waiting room at promptly 1:45. Instead of his clean and pressed scrubs, he was in sweatpants and a hoodie, his face three shades paler and nose raw and red.
“Hey Robin.” He sluggishly picked up the pen at the window and signed himself in.
“Jesus Steve. You look like shit.”
“You flatter me, Buckley.” He sighed, but she wasn’t wrong. He turned to the side, bringing the sleeve of his hoodie to his face, “HM’PTCCCH! NGTSCH!! ISSSHIEW!”
Robin used her foot to push her swivel chair back a foot as she looped on a mask from her desk drawer. “That sweatshirt is probably a level 2 biohazard at LEAST.” She pushed the box of tissues towards him. He plucked a few and blew his nose. “How long have you been like this?”
“Ummb since su’day I thi’gk.”
Robin shook her head and tsk-ed as she scribbled a note on his chart. “I’m gonna bring this back. Hang tight.”
She got up and walked the chart back to Chrissy, who was finishing the outpatient paperwork from the woman before.
“Trade ya!” Chrissy chimed, holding out the chart for Mrs.Norris. Robin cheerfully handed Chrissy the new chart and took the old one back to her desk.
As she tapped away at the computer scheduling Mrs.Norris’ follow up in two weeks, she could hear Chrissy’s hushed voice as she took Steve’s vitals in the exam room.
“-he’ll be in soon. Good talking with you!” The door closed and Robin heard the plastic click of Chrissy flagging the room that the patient was ready for the doctor to come in.
Even through the closed door, she could hear her friend, “TISSSH! ISSSH!”
Robin got up, grabbing the box of tissues from her desk, shaking her head. She knocked gently on the door before opening it.
“Room service.” She joked, setting the box in his lap before closing the door and heading to Eddie’s office area.
She put a hand on his shoulder and leaned into him whispering, “You might want this, doc. Next patient sounds contagious.” Robin held up a mask with one finger
“Thanks birdie.”
He stood up and put on the mask, Robin looking over her shoulder as he opened the door, looking down at the chart.
“Robin!” He yelled, door still open. He poked his head out and took the mask off, laughing. “You didn’t say it was Steve! You’re so dumb.” He continued laughing as he closed the door behind him.
“Hey Steve, sorry Robin thinks she’s funny. She said you sound super contagious.” He pulled up a chair and straddled it, snapping on some latex gloves.
“She should write to the British medical journal.” Steve quipped.
“Oooh he’s feisty today! So what happened to Chicago??” Eddie asked.
Steve swiped at his nose with a tissue, “Ca’dcelled. I got sick on Su’day…? Feel like shit.”
Eddie tilted his head as he listened, “Well. If you don’t mind me saying, you also sound like shit. And knowing you, you wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t concerning you.”
“Yeah… feels like it mbight be a sinus i’dfection?”
“I’ll be the judge of that. C’mere.”
The younger of the two leaned toward as Eddie reached out with gloves hands and felt Steve’s lymph nodes. He hummed in thought as he moved his hands up, feeling the area around Steve’s cheeks and head. Steve winced at the touch.
“Sorry. Definitely feels swollen.” Eddie said, opening a drawer and pulling out an otoscope. “Told your head back for me?”
Steve did as he was told and Eddie flicked on the instrument’s light, sticking the end into Steve’s nose and looking for a minute, first in one nostril, then the other.
“I think your initial thoughts were correct,” Eddie leaned back, removing the plastic cover from the instrument and sanitizing his hands, “definitely looks like textbook sinusitis. Good to know your medical knowledge is unaffected by illness.” he joked.
“Ugh I- hehh AISSSH! Issssh!! HEH’tssCHH!” Steve’s face was locked in the crook of his elbow.
“Gnarly.” Eddie held out the tissue box. Steve took several and gurgled into them.
“I’b so sorry. I feel so disgusti’g.”
“Hey, don’t it’s okay. You forget I spent the majority of my residency working sketchy night shifts. You wish your germs could compare to the shit I’ve seen.” Eddie stood up and opened the top cabinet, pulling down a big glass jar.
“Listen I don’t do this for all my patients, BUT since you were such a good one, you can take a lollipop from Doctor Rockstar’s secret supply.” A huge smile crossed Eddie’s face.
“You think you’re cute, huh?” Steve asked, raising an eyebrow.
“And you don’t?” Eddie retorted back. “I’m just saying I’ve been told my sweets have magical healing powers.”
Steve locked eyes with Eddie for a few seconds before he reached in and took a Cherry one.
“Good boy.” Eddie pinched Steve’s cheek and out the jar away. “I’m gonna write you a script for some antibiotics. Should be ready for pick up in a few hours. Until then you’re free to go!”
“Thanks Eds.” Steve wanted to pick up the playful banter but he was just exhausted. He left the room and went to Robin’s little window while Eddie took some notes on the chart.
Robin had taken off her mask and was chewing on the end of her pen, trying to take notes on insurance verification for tomorrow’s patients. She looked up when Steve was at her desk.
“Doctor Rockstar make you all better?” She asked.
Steve coughed into his sleeve, “Yeah. Sent me some antibiotics. I’ll follow up with him when I’m back at work I guess.”
“Great, less work for me then!” She exclaimed. “Go home and sleep yeah?”
Steve nodded and turned on his heels to head out.
“Oh and Steve?”
He turned around, half out the door. “Yeah?”
“You get one of the Good Boy lollipops?” Robin teased.
Steve reached into his hoodie pocket and waved around the cherry one he had picked, which Robin couldn’t stop laughing at. Steve huffed a laugh and exited. “Later Robin!”

(Untitled Steve POV: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4)
Steve pays extra close attention, but Eddie acts completely normal around him, afterwards. Steve had been a little worried that maybe things would be too weird, but now he’s worried that things aren’t weird enough. Something should be different, right? He’s not totally sure what or how, but it feels like something should be different.
With Nancy, Steve had felt the silver tug of a life ahead. He could see everything so clearly: dating, a proposal, a wedding with a suit and a white dress, a house with a TV room, kids, grandkids. His whole life laid out in one shining road so flat he could see all the way to the end in the distance.
With Eddie, Steve doesn’t even really know what a real date would look like, not if either of them wants any kind of future with the rest of the world. It feels like he’s been taking a multiple-choice test and turns the page and suddenly he has to write a whole essay from scratch.
The sex stuff is simple. He’s a pretty simple guy. He likes sex, and Eddie’s hot. It actually hadn’t been that big of a revelation.
It’s the other stuff that he’s tied up in knots about. He’s opened this door, practically took a crowbar to the lock, and now he doesn’t know where it leads.
But it’s fine, because all he thinks about now is Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. He thinks Eddie is the kind of guy who it’s easy to get obsessed with. Eddie cares about so many things, and he cares with his whole body. Every single thing he does is turned all the way up, like it’s too big to fit in his skin. Steve doesn’t think he’s cared about anything he’s ever done in his life the way Eddie cares about the stuff he does.
Steve would give a hell of a lot to be something that Eddie cares about.
“Of course he cares about you, dingus,” says Robin. “He only has like six friends who aren’t literal children, and you’re definitely in the top five. Maybe top four.”
“Wait, who do you think is his best friend?” asks Steve, because apparently he’s at a middle school sleepover, emotionally speaking; Robin pelts him with Jolly Ranchers until he stops asking.
———
Dustin’s been bugging Eddie more lately about dating and stuff. Honestly, Steve thinks things might not be going great with Suzie, but Dustin won’t talk about it no matter how many hints Steve drops. Instead, Dustin has been splitting his attention between convincing Steve to date Robin and convincing Eddie to date literally any girl who breathes in his direction.
“I think that waitress really liked you,” he’s saying, though he doesn’t sound totally convinced himself. “When she gave you the fries, there was a moment. Back me up, Steve.”
“Absolutely not, Henderson,” Steve says, stealing a fry. Eddie bats him away half-heartedly. “Stop bothering people at work. They just want to get through their day, they’re not thinking about getting a date.”
“Oh my god, you hypocrite,” yells Robin, loud enough that Eddie kind of jumps in his seat, clutching at Steve’s arm. “You constantly hit on girls at work!”
Steve gives her a look like stop fucking me over, Buckley, and she makes panicked, apologetic eyes back. “I mean, you used to. Past tense. You have hit on, uh, people, at work. In the distant, distant past. Not anymore!”
Robin is the worst wingwoman in the entire world. Steve kind of wants to slap duct-tape over her mouth until she can be normal around Eddie, who’s sporting a sly grin.
“Yeah, Harrington. I seem to recall something about you striking out a lot, lately?”
Steve’s hit on exactly one person in the last few months, and in his opinion it went pretty well. He can’t say that, though, so he just elbows Eddie, glaring. “Shut up, I’m—I’m doing fine.”
“Su-u-ure you are, big boy,” laughs Eddie.
It all works out, though, because on the way out of the diner, Eddie leans over and murmurs, “Just in case you’re not actually doing fine…I happen to have a free afternoon.”
It takes Steve a second to remember how to walk again, and he has to jog to catch up.
He obviously isn’t planning on dropping Eddie off first, but Mike says, “Hey, that’s the turn-off to Eddie’s,” loud enough that Steve can’t pretend to miss it, and he can’t think of a good excuse not to turn. Eddie doesn’t seem to be bothered at all, just hops out of the car with a jaunty little wave.
It takes way too fucking long to drop Robin and the kids off, and Steve is practically vibrating out of his skin by the time Dustin’s front door swings shut. He doesn’t go tearing back to Eddie’s immediately, though. Even if he wants to. He needs to get his shit under control first, make sure he doesn’t come off as too desperate.
Steve heads home and splashes some water on his face. He looks normal, in the mirror. Not like someone who’s planning to go over to Eddie Munson’s place for homosexual reasons. He’s not sure what that kind of person would look like, but he looks normal.
He thinks about changing his clothes, but that seems too obvious. In the end, he just fixes up his hair a little and heads back out without changing anything at all.
