Ah this might be a slightly weird question to ask?? But you came to mind when I was wondering about it

When you write a multi-chapter fic do you post the chapters as you get them done or do you get all the chapters done and post them?

I’m trying to get my first multi chapter fic ready and I was wondering if you thought one or the other option was a bit easier to handle for multi-chapter fics?

Oh honey. I really don't think I'm the best person to ask about this.

My posting schedule is essentially "FINISH CHAPTER - POST", which gets me into trouble--like now--because if I lose my momentum, my stories grind to a halt. Which they have. I am trying so very hard to get back to them, to get them moving again, but I'm having a really hard time.

I know other writers like to have the whole thing finished before posting a single word, which I admire them for their patience and perseverance. I think I'm just too attention whore impatient. I have something written, I want to post and let others see it. It's not very conducive to this day and age, when you need to be constantly producing to stay on people's radar, but sadly that's just who I am.

Honestly, right now I'm feeling kinda "I peaked and now I'm sliding downhill like an out of control sled", so maybe I'm not the one to be giving anyone advice about this.

I guess it all depends on you. Do YOU want to have the whole thing written and just post a chapter a week? Or do you want to just post chapters as you finish to keep the 'writing for an audience' feel going?

An advantage of posting only after it's finished is if the story gets away from you later on, and changes from its original trajectory, you can always to back to previous chapters and tweak them to have it work. If you post as you finish chapters, you could write yourself into a corner or discover the original ending won't work like you planned and now you're stuck. (cough cough not like that happened to me or anything cough cough)

It just basically boils down to whatever feels right to you. You could try one way, and if it's too stressful, switch to the other. You'll find a way that works.

Okay, so to start us off, here's the basic cast list! (I've got the full cast list here)

Sonic - Odysseus

Basically everything is the same as how you'd expect it to be, only there's a few fun little differences. Like what I'd specifically like to ramble about, SHADOW'S FAMILY SITUATION! >:D Shadow's not some normal guy, no. He's a DEMI-GOD. He's the son of Mephiles (Hades) and a mortal girl.

Shadow grew up spending half his time on Earth and half his time in the Underworld. He met and fell in love with Rouge (Circe) but their relationship ended . . . badly. Upon their breakup, Shadow fled to Ithaca, vowing never to return to the realm of the gods again. This is the reason Shadow doesn't ever approach Rouge when the crew washes up on her island. Though Rouge is IMMEDIATELY aware that he's there.

Also! Another son of Mephiles is Eclipse (Hermes)! He's the one god that's the hardest to tie down. He's constantly abandoning his godly duties to go bug Shadow. In fact, for the entire journey from the Troy Saga to the end of the Thunder Saga, Eclipse is just hanging out in the background, making a nuisance of himself. XD He could totally help the crew get home but the only time he steps in is to help with Rouge. And that was one of the least dire situations the crew got caught up in!

Oooo and one more thing I wanna ramble about! At the end of Monster, Sonic cries these black tears, which stain his face with black lines. They stay on his face going forward, an ever present reminder of the monster he's become. (Depending on how the Ithaca Saga goes, he may or may not have them for the rest of his life.)

I am trying to distract myself. I haven't intentionally searched for anything election related since I verified the news myself. I am trying very, very hard not to doomscroll.

I, like so many others, am grieving. I simply cannot believe this is reality. That this is what so many in the country wanted. The hate is just so . . .

I can't think about it. I just can't.

When I look at the election map and see all the red, all I can associate it with is how much of the country is so hateful and angry. How many want to tear things down instead of building them up. To take people's rights away instead of supporting them.

I'm crying again.

I'm trying to compartmentalize. The kids went to school, just like any other day. My husband's off at work. I'm trying to focus on my daily activities.

But then I'll remember that red map. And the tears start again.

I don't want to be such a doomsayer. I know we're all going through it, to varying degrees. Maybe I'm overreacting. The shock and stress getting to me.

I just had such hope. And now all I feel is fear and disgust. Anger. Defeat.

a headband with sun rays! it may look a little silly but isnt that the point! the daycare attendant is a jester after all! theyre a pair of silly guys!

lights up when he sees you wearing it and skips over... his own rays are spinning around as he tells you how cute you look with them on- or cool if you prefer to be called that! or some other compliment! assuming hes not calling you ever word under the sun...

hes more used to seeing people wearing a shirt with him on it or dressing up in his colors and so on compared to moon, but that doesnt make him any less excited to see someone coming in looking like him!

crushed if any of the rays get dented or torn depending on what material theyre made of, will do his best to mend it

MOON

his hat... sure, its not the most unique thing out there but he knows its supposed to be his when you come into the daycare wearing it for naptime!

will snatch it up off your head to make sure its the real deal or just some other product from some costume shop... WILL be dangling from his wire so you cant take it back from him

if it werent for the sleeping children nearby he would tease you more and hold it just out of reach

he may tease you for it but it does make him feel a bit... weird... not weird bad, probably! its just that sun is typically the more favored one in general so seeing someone just... rocking his stuff... plushies are one thing but wearing something is different!

headphones! they look cool! they even light up! how cool is that!

it takes him a moment to notice that youre wearing them but as soon as he does hes going to sign to you that he thinks you look nice with them!

if he hasnt already given you a playlist of music or otherwise given you songs hes going to make sure you have at least a little something to listen to with your new headphones!

he doesnt have much merch and hes pretty okay with that, actually he was surprised he even had headphones in the first place- at most he thought hed get a plushie or something! he thinks its sweet that you wanted to match with him...
