The project "Lost Pages" ("ЗАГУБЛЕНІ СТОРІНКИ") is a non-commercial charitable project aimed at spreading and popularizing the creativity of Ukrainian artists. It focuses on showing Ukrainian art and literature through different time periods. In addition, the book consists of classical poetry, classical prose, contemporary poetry, and contemporary war poetry and has an illustrated collection of 49 works of Ukrainian literature.

Their target audience is Ukrainians and Ukrainian speakers, and they ship internationally.

All proceeds of the project will go towards the "Right to Life" charity ("Право на життя" ; Linktree)

Russia has damaged and destroyed 432 cultural sites, and has a very long history of stealing and destroying original Ukrainian works of art. Not to mention their desire to destroy everything Ukrainian. Even supporting Ukraine is enough to be jailed or straight up murdered.

This did not start in 2022. Russia is a terrorist state, has always been a terrorist state, and they have always hated anyone who doesn’t worship them.

And a side note: When a population is enduring a genocide, celebrating the culture and heritage of the people committing the genocide is an interesting choice. You don’t get to tell Ukrainians “not all Russians, not all Russian civilians” when the majority of the population supports the war. Ukrainians are allowed to be upset with the people supporting the country that’s killing them. Don’t tell us how we should feel about our history (and present) being erased.

Nov. 22nd marked Holodomor Memorial Day in schools, while Nov. 23rd is the day it is recognized worldwide.

The Holodomor Research and Education Consortium released a fact sheet that can be used in schools and for basic education about the Holodomor.

As today was the Holodomor Remembrance Day, it got me thinking about my experience of learning about this tragedy in my childhood years. My ancestors were lucky enough to live though those years without dying but they took the time to tell me about the tragedy as it was. My great grandma, my grandma and my mum, even I - we all carried and are still carrying the ancestral trauma. Since the very young age I remember feeling extremely bad if I had to throw away a piece of bread. I still do. I was told that it's a sin. For many Ukrainians it's a sin. When I was a child if I didn't want to finish my meal, I had to tell why (e.g. I was full) but it was often met with disapproving. When I was little I remember that we always had a bag of dried bread lying somewhere in the pantry. Not because somebody thought such genocide could happen in the 90s but because it was a habit, almost an instinct to do so when the food was scarce or there were financial problems. When the full-scale war has started, my grandma began drying bread again. She still has a bag or two and refuses to get rid of them. Hunger is what terrifies us. Deep down we know that there's still a threat, a murderer who wants to kill us just like 90 years ago.

I remember that when I first learned of Holodomor, I spent days thinking about the scale of it. My child brain couldn't comprehend the idea of not having food or being forced to eat leather shoes or acorns or not being able to escape from this horror. Every November since my school years this last Saturday is a haunting day for me. But at the same time I never miss a chance to light a candle and sit in silence for a bit. It gives me the feeling of connection with those who are simply lost to the history.
