AHAHAHAHA SO CUTE!!!
My head canon post game is that Link and Zelda are teenagers who have a mutual crush on one another. Link already knows of Zelda (I mean, she is the Princess of Hyrule) so his crush started a little earlier. And I guess somehow he's been able to see her progress, at least, while in the Rifts... and in a not creepy way, lol.
Zelda, on the other hand, kind of got her crush on through the stories of the people who knew Link. Plus when she saw him for the first time—even if she was stuck inside a crystal—she thought he was cute.
I'm guessing they're around 16 to 19 years old. They're not pre-teens for sure, given how their height is about at par with other adults in the game, and there are kid characters who are much smaller.
I imagined Zelda flirting during the Echo Link fights and it was so funny to me I had to manifest it 😂

So I just beat Echoes of Wisdom
(Spoilers under the cut)
Overall, I was super happy with it! It was a surprisingly good blend of the classic Zelda formula and the new open-air stuff.
Really the only thing I was iffy on was the combat. Basically if you aren't using Swordfighter Form (which oftentimes you're not, considering you can't use it for very long) it's basically like playing Terraria as a Summoner before they added whips. It was super funny watching everything get its shit caved in by the Darknuts I kept summoning though.
Speaking of which, they brought back a lot of old enemies I was super happy with: Darknuts, Tektites, Freezards, they even brought back Volvagia for the Eldin Temple!
The lore implications for this game are super interesting too. Apparently before the Goddesses created the world there was a being called Null that ruled the void that came before. So this guy was the REAL original Zelda villain instead of Demise, basically. And then there's the Prime Energy which was literally just the Triforce, which I was happy to see make a return too!
And since I'm a hardcore Zelink shipper, I'm totally gonna write a fanfic (or series of oneshots, I dunno) set after the events of the game and following Zelda and Link getting to know each other and then catching feelings lmao

I'm howling with laughter because I just found a manhwa that has the same premise as Cluck of the Wild
#its called princess in the henhouse and its about a princess who got turned into a chicken#and only one person (the hero) can understand her when she talks#everything else is pretty different though lmao#ok real talk I swear I am either developing psychic powers or people are mining my google docs for ideas#bc in cluck one of my ideas was 'haha the new champions fight the blights alongside link in this'#and then the totk trailer came out that revealed you fight alongside the sages (which are mostly the new champions except tulin)#and I thought 'oh haha that makes sense i guess we had the same idea'#then a while later I was mulling over a different fanfic idea for zelda but this time it was an original set of incarnations#and my idea was essentially 'what if demise had an incarnation before ganondorf (that wasn't vaati)'#so i thought i would set this story arouns the time of hyrule's founding and also rauru from OoT would be a character in this one#he'd be a relative of zelda's like her uncle or something#and then totk comes out and. well#AND THE ONE THAT CLINCHES IT FOR ME#is that in my femlink and zel story#link's sword gets blessed by din at one point so I thought 'it needs a cool name... sword of power is too on the nose how about a synonym'#so i called it the sword of Might. and then echoes of wisdom comes out. and take a wild guess what the sword in that game is called.#i swear to fucking god i know I have no way or proving this but it is all true I am clairvoyant or getting hacked

Yandere royal guards plot twist: reader was isekaid into their world and has no idea wtf they’re saying, so thinks being nonchalant is safest when it’s actually making them insane lmao
You got isekai’d. Now three murder machines think your blank stares are divine wisdom.
♡ Yandere! Royal Guards who don’t realize their beloved Sovereign is just some random girl from another world with no clue what’s happening.
♡ Yandere! Royal Guard who prowls at your feet like a starving beast, ears twitching, tail lashing, his grin full of sharp promises. “Sovereign, I’ve torn out the tongues of the palace spies. Their screams were... exquisite.” His voice purrs, expectant, waiting.
You stare blankly. “Ah.”
His pupils dilate. His breath shudders. “...Your restraint is incredible.”
♡ Yandere! Royal Guard who kneels before you, his wings folding like a dying swan’s. “Sovereign, forgive my forwardness, but do you love us?” His angelic eyes shine with desperation, manic with devotion. “You need only say it, and we shall set fire to the world in your name.”
You blink slowly. He is sweating.
“…Sure.”
His breath hitches—his body trembles—his fingers dig into his chest as though holding his heart inside his ribs. “Such… modesty,” he breathes. “To hide your love beneath cold indifference—your restraint is divine.”
♡ Yandere! Royal Guard who glowers from the shadows, a hulking wall of destruction. “Fight me.” His voice grinds like crushed bone, deep and sharp. “Your fists. Now.”
You shake your head. “No thanks.”
His nostrils flare. His hands twitch. “...You are waiting,” he mutters. “You want me to earn it.” His eyes gleam with lethal reverence. “I will not disappoint you.”
You sip your drink. He goes outside. The walls tremble. The ground shakes. The screams of unfortunate trainees echo into the sky.
They don’t know that you, a confused isekai victim, have no idea what they’re saying. They think your apathy is an unfathomable test. Every blank stare fuels their madness.
And the worst part? You’re just trying to stay alive.

♡ Note. This is NOT canon. Reader is canonically genetically equipped, capable in her position despite the chaos of the Yandere! Royal Guards, and her apathetic personality is really made to be that way. This is a what-if fanfic to the main story. Character banner art belongs to “inplick” and can be found in Instagram. But, it it also official art from a collaboration between Link Click x Sanrio.
♡ A/N. Anon, my request box is closed even for short requests (this isn't an ask, but a request). Also, please read the RULES before making requests. I only allowed this since I do plan on opening Anon requests; but, I haven't made the official announcement. My request box will officially open 2-5 months from now. But... since this can be used for drabbles anyway, fine. Don't expect me to spoil you guys though! I'm already swamped with a lot of long project requests alongside other works. Also, I don't like doing canon-divergent works of my OC's usually, but fine. Short, attempt at humor idea. Seriously. Please read the Rules, I don't like repeating myself.

Time is legend's successor (egg =chicken paradox way )
Fanfic prompt: A thing I noticed about the timeline is the fact that several entries are missing from the current version of the timeline
And with echoes of wisdom also existing
I just had a funny gruesome take on the timeline
Considering that in link to the past there are literally two endings (which already creates a different branch in the downfall timeline if we talk technicality)
Being one where link beats the hell out of the four shades of the four swords palace and snatched the four sword as an accessory (if you buy four swords adventure for the gba as well as link to the past)
And the other being the normal run of link to the past without the bonus temple
Like technically that already would break the timeline up into more branches (for the downfall timeline)
So what if echoes of wisdom and adventure of link lay on those two timelines lol
Like one where the total downfall happened being adventure of link
And one with echoes of wisdom that had an opportunity to regain its power… and also beat the shit out of null
That way both fit in while also taking the bonus temple into consideration
With that what if echo and hyrule are both legend's successors the same way that twilight , wind and legend are time's
Why, because angst is hilarious images how disappointed hyrule will be when he realizes that he isn’t just a disappointing successor but that there is a timeline where a much better successor came over and there never was a problem with fixing stuff
And legend feeling even worse because hyrule would never have to fix anything if he simply did better… like he clear did in echo's timeline
Like the possibilities were not a problem until echo came around and both noticed that legend COULD do better
That it wasn’t destiny for Legenda to fail and hyrule to fall
That there is just a timeline legend DID fail and hyrule ended up falling
Just hyrule and wind bonding over a failed timeline where everything is a mess (either over run with monsters or just straight up drowned by the goddesses)
And legend and time also bonding over failing so horrendously that it isn’t even funny
But it could get even worse seeing as it is theorized that the downfall timeline was the original timeline and the complete downfall of hyrule was destined
But what if it gets more insane and the timeline where echoes of wisdom is in was the original one
AND the other timeline was the one that annihilated the timeline into a time tree mess of a garden
The goddess hates meddling afterall
Seeing as how an entire timeline was just drowned duo to lullabies trigger happy use of the ocarina lol
Like the wish that gave the hero of time a second chance NOT being part of the original timeline
(it happening in the palace timeline because link met the hero of the four sword and realized that much more people suffered from ganon instead just reviving people close to him would also fit thematically because reviving everyone you ever knew suffered and reviving everyone including the hero of the past who ended up being some random child would be different wishes as one meddles with time )
So the mess of a timeline just happening because legend met four at some point and wanted to save the hero before him as well
Accidentally splitting the timeline into two
Just for time to dip out of another because ganon was too destructive and lullaby thought it was a good idea and that again splitting the timeline
Now there are the three anomalies and the original timeline
Making it four branches (until flora makes it into five because fruit gummy)
Two for legend and two for time leaving only flora's creative project
Like the angst of everything being legend getting creative and time being his successor in this very creativity (while flora did an entirely different job at creativity)
We need more time being legend's successor while legend also has hyrule and echo as successor’s and technically also wind and twilight fics because the potential is indeed endless and hilarious
Like legend being the first ever person to annihilate hylia's precious timeline then time following his example and then wind, twilight, hyrule and echo being the results is hilarious to think about while flora is in the background in a completely different time tree
#linked universe#lu legend#lu wind#lu time#lu hyrule#lu echo#link to the past#palace of the four sword#adventure of link#ocarina of time#lu twilight#twilight princess#wind waker#legend messes up like crazy#time following his lead#while the other timelines have no idea how it happened#lu flora

Linked Universe x Pokemon crossover: info
Background info
This crossover is the result of me spending a bit too long obsessing over the common concept of 'what would happen if x characters were in the pokemon universe' and having my usually nonexistent motovation latch onto it.
I've been stuck obsessing over this thing for probably well over a year and none of my friends are into these fandoms which means I have no consistent outlet for my ever growing brainrot that has burrowed a cosy spot into my brain. Thus my need to place it on tumblr in hopes that someone can appreciate this thing.
While I have a general idea for rules and character details in this au, a lot of it is made up of only half thought out stuff that I think is neat. There's probably tons of important au things that I have likely either never thought of or never found a concrete answer to. I also haven't made a story or anything like that. I just took the LU characters and the Lu fanfiction tropes I love and proceeded to dump them into the pokemon world. This also means that a lot of things that are not canon in the original Linked Universe timeline but are popular in fanfics will be present here.
Also quick disclaimer: while I love to draw for fun, I am by no means a professional artist. This means that my art is likely littered with mistakes and stuff like that. I am aware of this and I frankly don't care. I draw as a hobby and while I enjoy being able to make art, I am not trying to do it in any professional capacity. This also means that I am hella slow when it comes to drawing and I will procrastinate on stuff for months at a time if I'm nit in tve mood to actually draw.
Anyway this is just here cause I needed to share this brainchild so I hope you enjoy.
---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
AU rules
As stated before this is a crossover between Linked Universe and Pokemon. More specifically it takes the characters within LU and places them into the pokemon universe. The zeldas of this universe are mostly based of the zeldas of the wisdomverse by linderosse.
• Each Adventure for a Link equates to a pokemon journey
• Villains from the games are evil team leaders
• The Zelda's are from a prominent family that is blessed by Arceus
• Each pokemon journey has an associated legendary pokemon (I have not fully charted these out)
• Every Link is most closely associated with one specific legendary pokemon
• Every link has had a mythical pokemon as a companion
• Each child from the lineage blessed by arceus has a godgiven pokemon. These are always fairy type pokemon and have perfect IV's
• The triforce is represented by the lake trio: azelf=courage, uxie=wisdom and mesprit=power
• Every pokemon team has a theme, some are more obvious (and were easier to choose) than others
• I tried to limit the amount of shiny pokemon, but if a shiny was a better fit I picked the shiny
• I tried to stay within canon bounds, but if a pokemon absolutely needed a specific color, I gave it that color (if the anime can do it, then so can I)
• Some of the Links will use the gimmicks from later pokemon games, these usually have reasons that will be explained
• Each Link is associated with a pokemon region. This has zero relevance and is mostly based on vibes, it is not actually where they're from.
• The actual pokemon regions might exist, but I'm more likely to use them as an approximation for vibes than a concrete location
Headcannons that are present in this au
• Legend and Fable are twins
• Echoes of wisdom zelda is aurora
Major things I am uncertain about
• Are the Zeldas actual royalty or are they just from an important family

echoes of wisdom hours 14 & 15
-spoilers for end of the goron quest, and the VERY start of the deku quest
-nintendo when i suggested link boss with bombs i wasn't being serious. why did you take me seriously.
-it was easy though. birds.
-volvagia wasn't too hard either. birds.
-hi din. i have a question about din, actually. why do so many fanfic authors have their zelda characters swear on din's name? like, instead of 'by hylia' or 'oh my goddesses' or whatever, i see a lot of 'oh my din'. does anyone know why?
-wait do we get DIN'S FIRE???
-oh we don't. sad.
-WOO!!!! fifth triangle!!! yes!
-as i'm 'splorin, i completed my first row of hearts! i'm at eleven hearts now.
-so i found this optional rift in the gerudo highlands that i did
-found the horse-rift! completed the rift. i need carrots for the horse, but how do i get carrots? i can't pull them out of the ground. someone please help me. does anyone know how to get carrots? i could just look it up but asking y'all is more fun.
-i looked around in the eternal forest for carrots. the eternal forest is honestly pretty boring? there's nothing here. except the grave of a hero, or whatever. that was really cool. in hindsight i should've used bind to see if there was a crypt under it, but whatever. i'll do that tomorrow.
-got a level 3 sword boko. it's actually just. a good echo? it's got good ai! it has a sword and a shield and it blocks when it's not attacked and strikes quickly when the shield's down! it's great!
-so that got me thinking-what if i looked around the map for rifts that have flat bottoms? to find ones with openings? to solve rifts?
-so i completed stilled lake hylia, stilled suthorn forest, stilled northern sanctuary, and stilled zora river. that's all the rifts i could find that are on the map so far, and I'm at tri level 8 now. maybe it goes to ten? with all those, plus mt lanayru and faron?
-oh and in the stilled sanctuary i went in the building itself and there were just two bokoblins getting married with one officiating. and then they attacked me.
-and by the zora rift i found the kid who was afraid to swim. he said his mom's just staring into the water in his house. i go into the wrong house and don't see her. i looked at the chopped fish on the table and i'm like. hello ma'am. your son is worried.
-found her in the other house. showed her some monsters, she gave here kid a zora scale, and he could swim! she gave me one, too.
-it's kind of interesting that river zora learn to walk before they can swim.
-i passed by the suthorn rift you clear at the beginning of the game and saw that you can actually go into cleared rifts? that's interesting.
-went into faron. collected my fifth stamp! got a new stamp card.
-so it looks like there's small rifts here, so there goes my idea of tri's level stopping at ten.
-fave monster: lv. 3 sword boko
-death count: 10

2024 Writing In Review
I went ahead and answered some of the questions in this post! Mostly just the ones I can actually answer. Here we go:
One.) How many fics have you worked on since January?
Uhh. Two. Maybe three if ya count the massive AU timeline? I wrote a few small fictiony posts too but I wouldn't call them fics.
Two.) What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year?
I wrote a multi-chapter fic and made a website for it. I liked designing the site and adding pictures, and most of all I like having my own space to put my stuff!
Three.) What piece of media inspired you the most? (This can be the fandom you wrote the most for, the one that spawned the most ideas, the one you thought about the most, etc.)
Actually I think I wrote/thought about LotRO the most this year. Moria was such a surprise for me, I ended up really enjoying that part of the game's story. Unfortunately I haven't been playing it lately since the last major update completely borked my UI and as of today it still hasn't been fixed…
Four.) How many fandom(s) did you write for this year?
I wrote for Ultima VII Pt. 2 and a tiny bit for LotRO and I think that was it! Surprisingly no FF14 despite having a new expac. It was fine, I just don't have much to say about it, fic-wise.
Five.) What ship(s) captured your heart?
I don't really do ships, sorry. 😛
Six.) What character(s) captured your heart?
Princess Zelda from Echoes of Wisdom. She is so adorable! What a cute game! I don't know why I've never tried writing Zelda fanfic honestly.
Seven.) Did you write for any new fandoms or ships this year?
Nah.
Eight.) What fic meant the most to you to write?
Probably Ancient History because it also got me to work on a couple other non-fic things (website, timeline, etc) that I'd wanted to do for a long time.
Nine.) What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?
The ethically dubious wizard-turned-chicken POV one I just finished drafting (Ultima VII Pt. 2 again). It was the first thing I'd written in several months, plus I just like writing from weird PoVs I guess.
Ten.) What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing?
The chicken one. Felt like scratching a very annoying itch!
Fifteen.) What was the hardest fic to title?
LOL I still haven't come up with a title for the chicken story.
Nineteen.) Share your favorite piece of dialogue
"A crowd, eh? Eh, look, Morty! Looks like the gang's all here!" the thief observed, warmly. "Hooray!" "Looks like the gang would have our guts for garters, Stefano," Mortegro replied through his teeth.
Twenty.) Share your funniest line
I feel like this isn't up for me to decide. 🤔
Twenty-One.) What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?
While writing Ancient History, I ended up feeling kinda more sorry for the story's antagonist than anything (though make no mistake, he is still a complete blister). I think maybe it did change the timbre of his parts of the story a little bit? My notes on him looked like this:
Torrissio: He has a burning ambition to learn as much as he can about the Ophidian people… Partially to recover their lost magics, many of which are very potent and dangerous (and now banned by the UCoTL, ala Elissa's Time Prism spell). But also, he really is just THAT interested in Ophidian lore. This in itself is not a bad thing, but his single-minded desire to learn as much as he can leads him to behave ruthlessly in this regard. He does not care who he hurts so long as he gets what he wants in the end. That said, although he wants to collect all these terrible, evil spells, it's not so much that he has designs on using them to Take Over The World or what have you. He does not care what others think or expect of him, and he has no other ambitions beyond the pursuit of knowledge. He is thus rather apathetic towards civic matters. The only person whom he ever really cared about is Columna, who is now dead. His actions are tinged with grief; he is drinking a lot.
So yeah, he ended up being more pathetic than anything. I might like to write him a little more some day.
Twenty-Two.) What writing programs did you use? Did you write by hand?
I use Scrivener to organize files afterwards but I actually write fics out in Notepad++, in their intended HTML files with markup. Saves a lot of time in the end.
Twenty-Four.) Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?
Finishing the story is its own reward!! LOL
Twenty-Five.) How did you recharge between fics?
After finishing Ancient History, I barely wrote anything at all for months. It kinda burned me out I guess. I don't know if this counts as recharging. Mostly I just got really antsy about it!
Twenty-Six.) Did you create fanworks other than fic?
Yes! I made a very cool timeline for my Serpent Isle AU. I also fleshed out a new backstory for Sethys, and I wrote some LotRO posts and more Hivallion stuff.
Twenty-Eight.) If this were an awards show, who would you thank
Advil and coffee… The breakfast of champions!
Twenty-Nine.) What's left on your to-do list for 2024?
Not writing but I'm trying to finish some plastic canvas bird ornaments. I'm 2/3rds of the way there! I also MIGHT try to put my newer Ultima stuff up on AO3. Maaaaaaybe…
Thirty.) What would you like to write next year?
Maybe more Ultima fics? I set up my timeline specifically to accommodate one-shots (like the Chicken story) so I'd like to do more of those, I guess. On a related note, I'd also like to try to be kinder to myself.
#I wrote the numbers out like that to stop that annoying auto-formatting that Tumblr does#also it looks like during the time i wrote this post my UI in lotro has been fixed ... very strange!!

Okay so you’re my Legend of Zelda person
How are you feeling about the Echoes of Wisdom announcement? Surprised? Excited? Eh? Did you like what you saw of the game? The art style? The Echo mechanic?
(Personally, I’m really looking forward to the game, and it’s looking like the twink will finally have to be saved this time.)
I haven't seen much of the trailer and don't know what the echo mechanic is, I only get game info through my partner that stays up until 3-4 am their time to watch the Nintendo directs and I prefer to find out about zelda games far after the community has discussed it or play it blind myself with trusty non spoiler guide site zeldadungeon.com, but I love that we're getting another game in the chibi links awakening style!! It's my favorite, and my old comfort object that I lost was an amiibo figure of links awakening link, so I really hope they make a figure of Zelda I can buy - my family pirated every amiibo for Zelda that was released up to botw and they're about the size of the first index of my thumb but having a full figure of a Zelda character would be nice again.
I am also really surprised about it, and having Zelda as a playable character is amazing again. I only know of 4 Zelda games that have had the goddess reincarnation herself be the protagonist, 3 of the games were most likely released in the OG Zelda/adventure of link titles era or around the oracle games based on the cartridge? Art I saw idk it might also be related to the PC quest games that came out around the same time which for reference is the uh. "eXCUSSEEE ME PRINCESS" one I think that's the thing it's well known for that is a whole different convo with a different blog i know nothing of the older titles except the basics. Anyway anyway I own the 4th game I know about that no one else mentions because it's technically not canon and is worse off than Hyrule warriors is but it's called cadence of Hyrule I think just search up "Crypt of the Necromancer Zelda" you'll find it and I did play through most characters campaign including Zelda's in that one, and think it's definitely worth mentioning due to how different Zeldas gameplay is to links. Uh anyway based on that game alone I have very high hopes for the gameplay of Zelda, as well as the thinks the higher ups at Nintendo said about sticking with botw/totks direction and play style.
Lastly I'll be honest with you im sleep deprived as shit cause emergency irl shit happened last night and I havent been sleeping well in general so I forgot my big thing i wanted to talk about in this segment but uh. Salvaged bits are yada yada Zelda mechanics parallels to other games more characterization more well written fanfics that aren't JUST skyward sword and botw for her etc etc based on how they handled princess peach showtimes characterization [which like. Honest to God really hard character to write in 2024 due to her roots being damsel in distress 101 and people tending to mostly correctly point at any pinky extra feminine girl and shout misogynistic] I really don't think Nintendo can fuck this up, and I am fully confident they won't fuck it up :].
ALSO CAPE CAPE ZELDA CAPE SHE HAS A CAPE ITS A CAPE ZELDAS CAPE ITS SO CUTE GOOD CHARACTER DESIGN SHE HAS A CAPE ITS SO CUTE OH MY GOD CAPE CAPE CAPE SHE HAS A CAPE
Oh yeah actually I did like the little bit of the trailer I did see that link shot her free at the last second, showing he is still in character and they didn't shoehorn in an idea to have a female protagonist like other series would do, but that every side of the triforce is equally powerful. I expect this game to be like if links awakenings dungeon puzzles were used on the overworld, and based on another Tumblr post I saw there might be some diplomatic puzzles. Or at least dual sided quest lines
Uh is there anything else I was gonna say. Oh I'm definitely going to be live posting about when I play the game since my birthday [shoutout to sans undertale] is in September so im definitely planning to ask for it or get it myself, even though I know it comes out past my birthday

Some ME good fanfic i've read
about Javik or prothean
will continue adding more in this page
·<Echoes>
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9721193/1/Echoes
by Penumbra Eclipse on Fanfic, is a great account of the Prothean era. Beautifully written, imaginative in its unfolding of personal, social, ideological, philosophical ideas and the few lines of history mentioned by Javik, finished, English
·<To Come Full Cycle>
https://archiveofourown.org/works/4666758
heartbreaking
It remains only pain... Logically written, but hurt , a lot
story between Shepard and Javik, finished, English
·<Aidu>
https://ficbook.net/readfic/5434780#part_content
AU, A story of humanity being in the cycle of the prothean, part of the 'subsidiary race' of the prothean, fighting against the reapers. The story of Shep, a renegade lighthouse of rebellion against the empire, and the fight against a common enemy that requires co-operation with Javik, the avatar of vengeance. The prothean empire depicts, harshly, a stern relationship between the two characters in opposition to each other, Russian unfinished
< Горе побежденным >
https://ficbook.net/readfic/9956880
A class of swarm society depiction of prothean social formations, an epic depiction of the battle of zha'til, javik's full participation, the cautiousness and wisdom of the prothean empire, the bravery, the blood and tears, the deaths and sacrifices, the vengeance of the avatar, it's great! It's the kind of fanfic I've been hoping to read.
Russian, finished

quick thinking | obi-wan kenobi x reader
a/n: based on day eight of fictober! i’m sort of trying to just quickly spit these out so I have a sort-of consistent fictober schedule every couple of days but I keep adding unnecessary plots that make me write more. xD This idea isn’t based on any episode or film, it’s just something I scrounged up for the prompt. It’s meant to leave you questioning where they are, what happened to this place, and what they were supposed to find (with no answers, hehe).
DO NOT REPOST MY WORK.
fanfic or original work: fanfic
fandom: star wars (prequels)
prompt: (#8) “I am not doing that again.”
warnings: clumsy obi is the cutest obi
word count: 2.5k
music: Can I Feed Him? By Ludwig Goransson
The remains of the ancient temple you had been sent to explore crumbled beneath the soles of your boots as you trekked carefully up the worn steps of what was once the front courtyard. Your footsteps echoed with your partner’s, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as he followed closely behind you up the loose slope of debris. Your gaze swept over the ruins as you crossed over the dilapidated threshold, a slumped pile of crumbling stones that were once towering walls of breathtaking architecture.
You hadn’t been sure why the council had asked you to come here, or what they thought so intriguing or necessary about whatever it was they hoped you might find.
“What do they expect us to find here?” You asked, wiping the sweat from your brow. The warm climate of this jungle planet was far different from the bustling chill of Coruscant’s industrial city.
“They didn’t specify, exactly. Master Yoda said we would know when we found it.”
“Well, that’s characteristically vague,” you muttered.
Your feet led you both in different directions as you surveyed the structure and admired the leery beauty of crippled history. There was something left behind here, something serene and melancholic that tugged at your soul – your perceived skill of Sense Echo was keenly tuned into this place. You heard conversations, lessons, and music; just bits and fragments of things that had taken place. It felt similar to your home in the Jedi temple. There were forgotten memories of many childhoods lingering around you.
In one large opening that appeared to have once been a great hall of some sort, you could sense a resonant touch of calm indifference. There was no violence, no anger, not a single trace of malice – and yet, the end of their echoes was abrupt, as if they had been wiped from the surface.
The place had been abandoned, so it seemed.
However, no matter how much you felt around you, you were careful not to attach yourself to the emotions of your findings. This had all happened decades ago, perhaps even centuries. Whatever had happened here was over and done with.
“Sense anything yet?” Obi-Wan asked. His eyes landed on your somber silhouette as you carried yourself carefully through the rubble, gently placing your fingers upon the cracked stones and overgrown foliation.
“This was once a place of peace and celebration filled with many people, a good portion of them children,” your eyes considered the collapsing temple around you and the great room you both stood in, and Obi-Wan saw as your turned abruptly as if watching someone run past you, “But something drew them away from here. I can sense their numbers and hear their instruments, their lessons. I can see their valuables; red satin pillows, tassled table cloths, a long table full of spices and warm broth,”
“There is great peace here, great wisdom…it almost feels like home, back in the Jedi temple with the younglings. But then everything goes blank. I can’t tell who they were or what their purpose was. It may have been a civil dispute between tribes or an assault that drove them away, but I sense no violence or anger. It’s sort of faded out like a patchy signal.”
“Maybe they were Jedi,” he remarked. There was a subtle smile tugging at his lips as he caught your gaze. He was always astounded by your gift of psychometry and knew just how valuable the knowledge you derived from it was.
“Or simple nomads,” you offered, “I think I would be able to tell if they were Jedi. Surely there would be something left we could recognize, something stronger that I could sense.”
“I’ll go this way and see if I can find anything. Have your comlink ready,” Obi-Wan called over. He clicked his handheld device on and waited as you did the same. You turned the small dial with him to match their frequencies. When they chirped in unison, he turned to scout elsewhere with a nod.
You continued your observation as you made your way to the front of the great hall where a crumbling set of steps led up to a small podium of sorts – it was hard to tell from what was left, but it appeared to be a stage or a platform. Kneeling down to feel the cool stone, you noticed the etched carvings inflicted by chisels. They were markings of another language, delicate shapes and phonics weaving a prayer you did not recognize.
Standing upright and dusting your hands against your tucked trousers, you glanced in the direction Obi-Wan had headed off to before turning yourself about to explore the opposite corridor. When you crossed the edge of the western halls, you were met with a wall of dense jungle. Nothing remained of the old temple, save a declining slope of stones that were once tall-reaching walls.
The buzzing of insects and the croaking of frogs just beyond the darkening expanse of foliage added to the soothing charm of this old abandoned place. It felt like a moment memorialized in time, shrouded in memory and happenstance no one would ever know about. Even with your ability to glimpse the past through echoes, there was nothing here to draw from.
And this was yet another possibility of your gift – the finding of something there and nothing here. Of course, it was impossible to see everything. You were always left wondering and craving a little more, which was one thing many psychometric force users struggled with. Balance was absolutely necessary to be able to let go of unattainable knowledge. You felt the disappointment tug at your heart.
Something about this place felt like it knew you, as though what was left of this crumbling little world was staring right back at you. Some small part of you felt as though you had a right to know its well-kept secrets. It was just a sensation you had to put far from your mind. You would learn whatever was meant for your mind to know, however much or little that may be.
Just as you finished your sweep of the area, Obi-Wan’s voice crackled through your comlink. “I think I found something worth looking into,” his tone was a mix of amused relief.
“What is it?”
“It appears to be a meditation room from what I can tell. The floor’s collapsed, so our path is blocked, but I can make out the meditation stones – the flat ones, similar to those in the temple gardens in Coruscant - and what looks like some cargo they may have left behind.”
“Has it been there long?”
“It’s not new, if that’s what you’re asking,” he sassed. You could hear his smirk from the other end of the transmission. It pulled your lips into a smile.
“Alright, I’m on my way,” you decided, turning yourself about to trace his steps into the eastern corridors. There was a pause in your conversation as you trekked across the crumbled great hall and neared the path Obi-Wan had found himself on. You suspected he was attempting to find a way across in his silence.
The echo of his voice in real-time that reverberated in the still air accompanied his voice through your comlink, which meant you were drawing nearer to him with every step. “Did you find anything?”
“Nothing but old rocks and a lot of jungle. I did find some carvings in the main hall we came from, but that was it.”
Obi-Wan turned to face you as he heard your voice close enough behind him to switch his comlink off. He stood on the ledge of what was left of the ground floor. Standing beside him, you could see clearly the damage that the eastern wing of the temple had taken on with age. It had held together a little better than your end had, but it was greatly broken-down.
There were four tall walls that had crumbled slightly in each middle portion, dipping lower into themselves. The ground floor – the one you needed to reach the other room – had fallen in on itself and gave way to the room a dozen or more feet beneath it, which appeared to be the only underground shelter. You hadn’t noticed any other access points to a lower floor. Peering over the edge, you decided it was too far down to make a comfortable landing, nor was there any reason to. The walls on the other side were too tall to climb up on your own.
The wide gap between rooms was one you couldn’t make without help, despite both of your abilities as Jedi. Nearer to the assumed meditation room was a dilapidated stone staircase that had dissolved back into the ground with a coating of slippery moss. Unless you wanted to chance the durability of crumbling stone paired with little grip on your soles, you opted to avoid that option.
“Any ideas?” Obi-Wan asked. He crossed his arms and stroked his young beard with his hand, a habit you had seen repeated throughout his life. You couldn’t suppress the admiring grin that grew across your features before you looked away to conceal your blush. He was adorable.
You purposefully focused your mind on answering his question and found yourself calculating the distance of the walls to your sides. As if reading your thoughts, Obi-Wan intervened.
“I don’t know about you, but I don’t trust these walls to hold our weight.”
You huffed with an agreeing nod. Scaling them wasn’t an option either. With your hands on your hips, you walked behind him and to his left, pacing slightly as you studied your surroundings a second time.
Above you towered a canopy of thick trees, you noticed, which were knotted with thick vines and winding branches. Obi-Wan’s eyes were still trained on the drop below, wondering if it was possible to withstand the drop and possible cave-in. Getting across on a sturdier surface would be optimal, but then there was the steep wall to climb.
The igniting of your saber drew his attention to you immediately, drawing his hand away from his chin. He stood motionless as he watched you pull your arm back and twirl your blade in your hand, straining your eyes to focus in on something above you. When he followed your line of sight and found the tangled patchwork of vines suspended high above the both of you, he realized you were taking aim.
Before he could stutter out an inquiry, you thrust your saber upward as though it were a metal dagger, slicing through the canopy of vegetation and loosing its green limbs to sway within reach above your heads. He watched even still as you slowly pulled your arm back to call the saber back into your hand, balancing its momentum. When the hilt landed perfectly in your outstretched palm, the blade extinguished.
With one boot forward, you reached over the edge far enough to latch your fingers around one of the slippery vines and wound it around your wrist. You tugged on it with your full weight and found that it had decent buoyancy to it. When you turned to face Obi-Wan, you found his expression slowly change from shocked to impressed. It stroked the ego you weren’t supposed to have.
“There, problem solved,” you remarked.
His eyes trailed up to one of several vines that now hung from the trees. He shook his head slightly, lowering his arms to his sides. “Now, why didn’t I think of that?”
You simply chuckled in response and took several steps back with the thick vine in tow. Hiking your leg up to grip the vine with your boot, you jumped in place a few times to build your momentum. Without so much as a ‘see you on the other side’ you propelled yourself forward and swung across the wide gap, landing gracefully on the edge of the other room. Obi-Wan’s eyes had followed you the whole way.
Releasing the vine, you found that it left behind a yellow slime between your fingers. Wiping the residue against your robes, you called across the expanse to Obi-Wan. “Be careful of the vines! They’re coated with slime! It’s a little slippery!”
“I’ll keep that in mind, thank you,” he retorted, already having a generous portion of the unsavory gel lathered across his hands from testing one of the vines. You watched as he pulled on it with his full weight – not the same one you had used, evidently – and it slipped through the branches and fell to the room below. You tucked in your smile to hide the amusement you felt.
Averting your gaze before your laughter gave you away, you turned your back to him and began investigating the flat stones a few feet behind you. You were still wiping away the slime that coated the palms of your hands.
Finally, after two failed attempts, he had found one that was still wound up tight in the canopy of vegetation above him. He wound it around his wrist and once around his calf after stepping back. When pushed himself over the edge, he felt the vine slip every-so-slightly and released an uncertain cry from his lips.
Just as you turned around to see the commotion, a flash of beige filled your vision before you felt his body collide with yours. The impact flattened you both against the cracked stone floor in a groaning heap of tangled robes and discomfort. When you raised your head, you found that the mass on top of you bore a familiar face.
He groaned as he raised his head, blinking away the whiplash that rattled his skull. "I am not doing that again," he asserted.
“Trying to get a little close today, are we, Obi?” you jested, ruffling the light auburn tendrils that had tickled your neck when he raised his head. His narrowing eyes told you never to speak of this moment in front of his young padawan – or anyone else, for that matter.
“The vines were far less secure than you made it look.”
He slowly peeled himself off of you, careful not to place his hands anywhere inappropriate. When he stood to his full height, he stretched out his hand. You took it eagerly and allowed him to pull you up.
“You should have used the same one I did!”
“You didn’t give me a chance to catch it before throwing it back! I lost track of it!”
“Just admit it, Obi, it was all a ruse.”
“To bruise myself? I don’t think so, I’d much rather return to the ship in one piece.”
“You just can’t stand being apart from me, that’s all,” you chuckled, finding amusement in his reddening cheeks. When he visibly fought the blushing smile that tempted his lips, you knew you weren’t too far from the truth.
No, of course he hadn’t meant to pick the wrong vine and send himself bumbling into you, but it was obvious neither of you minded the close proximity all that much.
“Let’s get back on task, shall we?”
“Of course,” you purposefully bumped shoulders with him as you turned about the room, “if only my partner would stop flirting with me long enough to get something accomplished.”

Can I request an Ikevamp fanfic where Sebas and MC are just gossiping about the residents after doing the dishes? I don’t mind if they’re dating in it or not. Thank you!
Sure thing! Here you have it! Hope you enjoy~!!
It was late at night and most of the mansion’s residents had already retired for the evening, but the master of the house himself was still awake, the soft soles of his fine leather shoes padding against the carpet as he strolled down the hallway. Le Comte de Saint-Germaine had just returned from a dinner party and was ready to rest after an evening of easily charming the humans in attendance. They had been drawn to him, hovering around him like bees to a flower, but no matter how many years went by or how much wisdom and knowledge he accrued, there was only so much someone could handle short of feeling smothered.
Turning into the dining room, he intended to grab a bottle of rouge to bring up to his room with him when he heard the soft sound of giggling coming from the kitchen. Gold eyes blinked curiously as he ghosted closer to the doorway, recognizing the first voice as MC’s and a second, deeper voice as his butler’s. What were both of them doing up so late? Considering how early Sebastian roused in the morning to get to work on the breakfast preparations, he would have thought he would have long since gone to bed, the same applying to MC.
“No way! Seriously?” he heard her exclaim, voice hushed secretively.
“You have no idea. It took forever to bury it.”
“Accepting a dare like that is just…”
“Very Dazai?” Sebastian offered.
“Exactly!”
An elegant brow lifted. Bury what? Where? What had Dazai done? Really, what were they doing?
“You would never guess what kind of drunk Master Theodorus is though.”
“A fighting drunk?”
“No.”
“A clingy drunk?”
“Nope.”
“A dancing drunk?”
“I would pay money to see that, but no.”
“Then what?”
“He’s a flirty drunk, the kind that tries to romance potted plants.”
“Noo!!” Peels of laughter echoed from the other room as MC burst into a fit, joined by Sebastian’s deep chuckles.
Le Comte understood what they were doing up so late now. Sebastian had taken to entertaining her with juicy bits of gossip about the mansion’s residents, probably while they had finished cleaning up the dinner mess, and they had been enjoying themselves so much that they had yet to part for the evening.
Peering around the corner into the kitchen, le Comte saw that Sebastian had removed his jacket and rolled up the sleeves of his button-up, the blue tie around his neck loosened comfortably. He looked considerably more at ease than le Comte had ever seen him, something that was quite significant seeing how well and with how much enthusiasm he had fallen into his role as butler.
As he continued watching, MC laughed again and the look on Sebastian’s face softened even further, grey eyes warm with adoration. His lips quirked up in a smile that made the corners of his eyes scrunch up, his expression captivated by his partner’s delight, and the real reason why they hadn’t gone to bed yet was made abundantly clear. He wasn’t a fool when it came to romance. He knew what it looked like when a couple was reluctant to part, lingering for as many seconds, minutes, hours as possible, just to stay together a little longer.
Turning and striding away from the kitchen, a bittersweet smile graced the pureblood vampire’s face. So that was it. Spring had come for Sebastian and it seemed his feelings were wonderfully reciprocated.
Good. That was good. Their personalities complimented each other well and he knew Sebastian would make her happy. They brought a life and humanity to the mansion that simply wasn’t possible for vampires to recreate.
It was strange. Le Comte had always thought he’d be more sad when this day came, so he was surprised to find that it was just the opposite. Instead, he just felt happy that two people so dear to him had discovered the gift of love between them.

Avatar: The Last Airbender, Series Finale: Sozin’s Comet
In case you’re finding this post just by browsing the tags I’ve used for this post, this is the Watchathon, a blog where I’m hoping to watch an episode of a TV show every weekday, with a short blog post where I write down my thoughts as I watch. Each new thought starts with a hyphen and a bolded first word.
- Like so. Now that the introductions are over with, it’s time to break that one-episode-a-day rule and finish off Avatar: The Last Airbender with the climactic grand finale, Sozin’s Comet:
PART 1: THE PHOENIX KING
- Okay, so, Katara in the intro is still saying “He has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone.” I could’ve sworn they removed that part by this point... Maybe that was just something for the DVD?
- I like that the “Previously on” segment is so long. It really emphasizes how much buildup there was to this. How much the Gaang has been through to get here.
- I gotta say, I was not expecting a beach party in this episode.
- Somehow, for reasons I can’t explain because I don’t understand them myself, this ambush from Zuko made the audio of Nicolas Cage saying “Surprise attack!” in Into the Spider-Verse play in my head.
- Zuko’s really lucky that he earned Katara’s forgiveness before this violent pop quiz, seeing as just a half season ago... “You take one step backwards... one slip up... give me one reason to think you might hurt Aang - and you won't have to worry about your destiny anymore. Because I'll make sure your destiny ends right then and there. Permanently.”
- It never occurred to me that we didn’t get details on the war meeting before now.
- I’d bet hearing about this plan is the thing that tipped the scales and fully convinced Zuko to join the Gaang, and prevent the genocide of the Earth Kingdom.
- It’s so nice to see Zuko being welcomed into the group hugs. Especially when it’s Katara who invites him.
- I like that Zuko is teaching Aang to redirect lightning, the same way Iroh taught him.
- Even before it’s made explicit, you can tell that Aang’s uneasy about the idea of killing.
- Toph is just delighting in her role as Melon Lord, isn’t she?
- Someone out there has definitely written an AU fanfic where someone gets killed during this training and it’s Toph’s origin story as the malicious Melon Lord. If not, then I will write it myself, and it shall be the crackiest crack fic that ever cracked.
- Y’know what, I wish Toph could’ve actually gone on a life-changing field trip with Zuko too! Everyone else got one...
- This scene of Sokka climbing into Appa’s mouth is even more uncomfortable once you’ve... well, once you’ve grown up and... Okay, I tried to put it subtly, but I just can’t: Once you’ve been cursed with the knowledge of what vore is.
- Well, there’s a bait-and-switch if I’ve ever seen one: “Azula, you’re the new Fire Lord!” “=)” “But I am now the Phoenix King and still your superior who you will answer to.” “=O”
- Nice to see June and her Shirshu make a comeback.
- Does this mean Aang wasn’t running away on purpose? I honestly thought he was just going to that island to get some alone time, maybe meditate or contact the previous Avatars’ spirits.
PART 2: THE OLD MASTERS
- I’m not sure if this is something I forgot from June’s first appearance, or if it’s actually just never been brought up before, but I didn’t know her Shirshu had a name.
- It’s sweet that Zuko is seeking out Iroh’s help. Even if the method of finding him is, ah, well... unorthodox.
- Even Avatar Roku doesn’t know where Aang is. And here I thought it was some Avatar thing that had never been brought up before.
- It’s nice to see these people make a comeback. Bumi, Piandao, even Jeong Jeong and Master Pakku are here for the finale.
- I am surprised that we didn’t get an interaction between Toph and Bumi, though. The man Aang wanted to teach him Earthbending, the girl who ended up doing it... But I guess there’s only so much time, and I don’t think there’s any scenes that could be deleted to make room for it.
- It seems like Aang is just searching for confirmation of his beliefs, rather than actually seeking wisdom.
- I like that we get to see Bumi taking full advantage of the eclipse to take back Omashu from the Fire Nation, instead of just being told about it.
- It’s nice to see so many past Avatars beyond just Roku and Kyoshi, Avatars that we never heard of before, but now we hear their stories. But all of these past Avatars echo the same sentiment that Aang should kill Ozai, even an Air Nomad Avatar.
- What can I say about this scene of Zuko and Iroh reuniting? Forgive me for echoing a post I made on my main blog, but this is a scene that’s both sweet and sad.
Sad, because Zuko’s abuse at the hands of Fire Lord Ozai left him anxiously expecting furious punishment for crimes much less than what he did to Iroh. He can’t even comprehend the idea that Iroh would forgive him. His expression while apologizing to Iroh clearly shows he’s expecting the worst.
Sweet, because Iroh still loves Zuko like his own son, and doesn’t even need to forgive him because he never felt anger at Zuko’s betrayal: Only sadness and a worry that Zuko had lost his way, truly lost his honor. And Iroh is so clearly happy to see that Zuko has found his destiny, and joined the fight against the Fire Nation.
I could go on and on about this scene... It’s my absolute favorite scene in the whole series and it brings me to tears every single time I see it.
Gosh... it’s gonna be so awkward going back to the jokes and little mundane thoughts after this, isn’t it?
- Okay, I have officially given up on the idea of finding out what the heck this island is.
- I like the smile on Katara’s face, when she’s asked to team up with Zuko and fight Azula.
- It’s nice to know that Iroh will get the opportunity to run that tea shop, even if Zuko won’t be there to work with him.
- Okay, okay, so the island was actually a lion turtle. Frankly, I’ve still got a lot of questions. Even some new ones.
- It’s nice to see that the Netlix subtitles aren’t ALLCAPS anymore.
PART 3: INTO THE INFERNO
- Gotta hand it to the music, it can make even a scene of Azula making a fuss over a non-pitted cherry rather unnerving.
- Azula’s... Azula-ness has gone straight up to eleven with her newfound role. Hasn’t it? What with all the banishments, even banishing the entire Dai Li.
- Sokka, Suki and Toph are the real dream team.
- And we get a great final blind joke!
- I like that we get to see everyone doing their part in this final battle. All the members of the Gaang, even the White Lotus, get their moments to shine.
- The hallucination of Ursa shows that Azula, on some level, has an idea of what’s wrong with her. You can tell that they were thinking of a redemption arc for Azula come Book 4, though I am glad that didn’t happen.
- It’s chilling to see Ozai razing the forests of the Earth Kingdom like it’s nothing. And then to realize that this is what Aang will have to face.
- At first I wasn’t sure what Sokka’s plan was, but now that I see it in action, it’s really creative.
- I like the idea of a final one-on-one Zuko vs Azula duel(...a). It’s been a rivalry since Book 2, and it’s nice to finally see it get settled, even if I can’t imagine it’ll end up that easy: Otherwise, what would Katara do?
- It’s so cool to see Aang showing his prowess in all bending techniques, using them all in this final showdown.
- The background music during Zuko and Azula’s Agni Kai really sells it. It makes it sound almost tragic, and it is: two siblings pitted against each other, no choice but to fight to determine the future of the world.
- Azula might be slipping, but she’s still Azula, all too willing to cheat in what’s supposed to be a one-on-one duel.
PART 4: AVATAR AANG
- Netflix isn’t showing the intro for the individual parts, but I’ve gotta say... There’s no way that Katara’s still saying Aang’s “got a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone.” Right?
- I like that we get to see one last use of Metalbending from Toph in the finale.
- Dang, I hope this isn’t really the end for Sokka’s sword, or his boomerang. Especially when the sword was so cool, and one could say meaningful.
- I honestly wasn’t sure the Avatar State would ever be a factor again. But if there was ever a time, this is it. (ADDENDUM: This is probably the best time to clarify that I find and add the images at the start after writing the rest of the post.)
- And it’s so epic to see Aang bending all four elements at once.
- I like that Iroh got to burn down the Fire Nation flag.
- Since Zuko’s down for the count, I guess this means a battle between Katara and Azula, the latter powered up by Sozin’s Comet.
- To be honest, I could barely make out what Azula just said. “kjsdbksrbfkjvf family position to look after, kdcbkfh”?
- Katara may not be stronger than Sozin’s Comet-powered Azula, but she’s much more clever than Azula is right now as she loses her marbles.
- This is just the perfect kind of defeat for Azula. There’s no grace to it, no dignity, just writhing around, screaming and spewing fire as Zuko and Katara look on with pity.
- There’s probably a great practical reason someone could find for Spiritbending being a thing, but here’s why I’m glad it exists: Aang gets a happy ending. He gets to take down the Fire Lord, and hold true to his beliefs. If it weren’t for Spiritbending, if Aang killed Ozai, then he would be conflicted to the end.
And I don’t want that. I want Aang to get an unambiguously, undoubtedly happy ending, where the world is saved and that’s all there is to it.
Plus, Spiritbending is quite the spectacle.
- I’m guessing Sokka’s space sword and boomerang really are done for. But hey, there’s always headcanon. Maybe Sokka searched the forest and eventually found them.
- Weird to think that Ty Lee’s gonna be a Kyoshi Warrior.
- Again, I can’t believe Zukaang’s not the most popular Zuko ship in the fandom. Not a ship I’ll go to bat for, but it’s got all the hallmarks of a fan-preferred couple.
- It’s so nice to see Zuko’s coronation, and the official end to the war. It’s a happy ending for the whole world, the start of an era of peace.
- “Love and peace,” huh...? Now that’s funny to hear in the finale to this show, considering the next show I’m covering, come 2021...
- I like that we get to see one last confrontation between Zuko and Ozai. Even if Zuko’s question of where Ursa is doesn’t go anywhere (in the show, I know they touch on that in the comics), it’s nice to see the newly-crowned Fire Lord Zuko having evolved past a need for Ozai’s attention, or a fear of Ozai’s wrath.
- It’s nice to see the whole Gaang having fun at Iroh’s tea shop, in the end. And I stand corrected, this is where we get the final blind joke.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m lucky in that most of my childhood cartoons hold up as an adult. I watched Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, Code Lyoko, Courage the Cowardly Dog...
Still, there’s something special about Avatar: The Last Airbender. It had a unique aesthetic and world that no other show was quite like. It had a story that was like nothing I’d ever seen as a kid.
And it doesn’t just hold up, it’s even better.
When I was a kid, it was as simple as rooting for the good guys to win, and for the Firebenders to lose, except for Zuko once he turned good.
Now, as an adult (but mostly as someone with a DVD player/Netflix account so I’m not just watching whatever reruns I can catch) I can appreciate the character development, the arcs, the entire story.
I can appreciate how Aang grew from a little boy who does indeed have a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone, into a hero who could save the world.
I can appreciate how Zuko was an abuse victim who did what all abused children wish they could do and left his abuser.
I can appreciate... Gosh, Iroh’s entire character and dynamic with Zuko.
Some people say that Avatar “starts off as a kids show, then turns serious”, but I’d disagree. Avatar is a show where our heroes change, where they learn lessons, where they come of age and become the kind of heroes who can end a war that’s been going on for over a century.
As relieved as I am to be (mostly) done with these posts for the rest of the year, I am still oh-so-glad that I’ve rewatched Avatar yet again, and I know that I will be whenever I rewatch it in the future.
Now, with all that said... Farewell! Until the Christmas special, at least...

Uhh fanfic time? Just joined Tumblr today, trying out some stuff. This is a quick oneshot.
This takes place right after the events of Orion Pax, when Optimus returns with his memories. Angst and hurt, sad stuff. Optimus and Ratchet are lovers in this.
It wasn't difficult to tell when Ratchet was upset. He was very expressive, from his tone to the smallest of his movements. Optimus had known him for a very, very long time, and had learned how to determine his medic's mood simply by watching his servos move, or the swivel of his hips as he turned around, or the way he would set his jaw.
He could tell now that Ratchet was very upset.
Ratchet was not vocalizing his feelings, which caught Optimus off guard. He was very vocal about his emotions when he was with Optimus. Not now, however.
From his seat on a workbench, he watched Ratchet work. The base was quiet, it was late, they were the last two up. When he lovingly embraced his medic and invited him to their berth, Ratchet had brushed it off harshly and ignored his further presence.
This was strange.
Ratchet had been overjoyed when he came home, his memories in tact, finally safe and with his friends and family. Everyone had welcomed him back so happily, and he was so spellbound by the warmth, he had failed to notice how Ratchet's mood seemed to decline as the night progressed. By the time everyone had retreated to their berths, Ratchet had become quiet and bitter.
Optimus, his elbows resting on his knees, and his servos supporting his chin, observed Ratchet closely. His shoulders were tense- stressed. His servos were unsteady and shaky- pained. His digits pounded at the keyboard harder than necessary- angry.
After his analyzation, Optimus concluded that Ratchet was conflicted and hurt.
Now was the time to approach him.
He rose slowly, the bench creaking as his weight left it. Ratchet's unsteady typing didn't falter. Venting quietly, he strode over to his medic, moving to stand beside him at the monitor. He sensed a tremor in Ratchet's tense plating. He reached out to soothe it, to stroke and massage those tense shoulders, but Ratchet moved away from him and uttered a stern, "No, Optimus."
His first attempt rejected, Optimus hesitated a moment to rethink his follow up. "Ratchet, will you please speak to me?" He asked in a quiet, gentle voice, as if he were addressing an aggressive stallion that could charge him any moment. Ratchet's servos stilled on the keyboard, but his optics still didn't meet Optimus'. "Please? I know you are. . . Upset." He inwardly cringed. He had made another mistake.
"Did the Wisdom of the Primes tell you that? Did the Matrix tell you that I was upset, or was it your keen librarian instincts?" Ratchet snapped.
His second attempt was also a failure. Optimus stopped himself from sighing out loud. "I didn't mean-"
"No no, please, continue to analyze me. How upset am I? Am I angry?" The rise in his voice made Optimus glance at the door warily- he didn't want any of the others to wake and investigate. Still, Ratchet didn't meet his optics.
"I didn't mean to assume, though I do believe my assumption- my speculation is accurate. You are not pleased with me. Will you please tell me why?" Optimus' voice stayed quiet still.
Ratchet didn't answer him, only stared straight ahead, his jaw clenched.
"I speculate," Optimus watched him closely, "That I have hurt you in some way, and that you are angry with me."
There was a pause.
"Ratchet, please." He closed his optics and inhaled. "This has been hard for me, Ratchet. I am afraid of what may have happened while I was on the Nemesis. I am afraid of what will follow." His tanks churned at the thought. "I feel that I've lost a part of me." He waited through a silence, basking in it, drowning in the heavy atmosphere. He had thought that maybe opening up to Ratchet would be the answer, but evidently-
"You feel that you've lost a part of you." Ratchet's voice brought him to open his optics. He was surprised with what he found.
All of the angry energy that had practically been rolling off of Ratchet's frame was gone. Instead, he sagged, looking weak and sad. Optimus' spark froze when he saw the tears rolling down Ratchet's cheeks.
A joyless laugh left Ratchet. "You were really going to leave me. You didn't have a second thought about it, did you?" He looked at Optimus, his tear streaked face burning a hole through his Prime. "You aren't the only one who lost a part of himself."
Optimus stared at him, absolutely clueless. That seemed to aggravate Ratchet.
The medic turned to fully face him, his fury replenished. "You really have no recollection? You have no idea what this is about?"
"Ratchet, I-"
"No, I don't want to hear it!" A fresh round of tears made it down Ratchet's cheeks, and he turned away to pace back and forth, not unlike a caged tiger. "Optimus, you went to Unicron, FULLY BELIEVING that you wouldn't be returning home. You gave the keycard to Jack because of it. You KNEW that something bad would happen to you, you KNEW that you wouldn't be coming back."
Optimus stood, silent and helpless, listening. Everything Ratchet had said thus far was true. What was his point?
"You knew all of this. . . And you didn't tell me. You didn't tell me that it would've been the last time we ever spoke. We are fragging LOVERS, Optimus, and you couldn't even spare me a 'goodbye'. A 'I love you and I'm sorry that I have to do this.' You were going to leave me without saying ANYTHING to me. You were going to walk out and give your life for Earth and I would never have known until it was too late." Ratchet was sobbing now, covering his mouth to stifle the sounds, his pacing halted. "I was going to lose you. You didn't even think to tell me that I'd never see you again. Why? Was I. . ." He lowered his servos to look into Optimus' optics, his face wet, his frame trembling. "Was I not important enough?"
Optimus took a step towards him and he flinched away. "Ratchet. . ." He whispered, spark aching. He wanted to grab his medic and hold him so badly, he shook with the effort of holding back.
"I love you more than anything, I'd do anything for you," Ratchet choked through sobs, "You didn't. . . You don't love me enough to say goodbye before leaving me forever?"
Optimus tried again to approach him, and Ratchet turned on his heel, fleeing to the hallway. The sound of his door closing and locking echoed through Optimus' helm, like a bell, a powerful sound that sent a pang of hurt straight to his spark.

A/N: The first time I posted this, it didn’t get any attention, so I’m reposting now! I also edited it and added over 1000 words, and rearranged a lot of stuff to hopefully make it more coherent overall. Please fav/follow/review if you can~ (I allow anonymous reviewers on FFN~) Cheers!
Preview:
The sun is low when heavy boots trudge up the stairs of the Arbiter's Grounds. With a scuff of dirt, the steps echo at the zenith of the tower, between columns of stone in the Mirror Chamber. Toward the frame that lays untouched on the center platform, naught but a husk now, are deep, cerulean eyes. The wind stirs golden-brown hair around his face and long green hat at his shoulder, whistling hollowly through the arena and his elven ears. Hesitatingly, Link takes a step forward.
The Mirror of Twilight – or what's left of it – casts its shadow over the ancient monolith embedded in the sand. As Link approaches, a flash of its former glory crosses his mind: The white runes that imprinted on stone, telescoping into another dimension entirely. The fluorescent, heavenly stairs that ascended into a realm filled with beings beyond his wildest imagination.
This place has laid undisturbed for many years. All but forgotten by the tales told of the Hero of Twilight's valor, the first time Link was here, he was but 17 years old. With no idea who he was or what he was doing, in the time since then, word has spread across the land; word of the hero who vanquished evil, and saved all the Hyruleans-turned-spirits. Now, he can't go anywhere without someone recognizing his name, his face, without being swarmed by adoring fans. Trapped in the bureaucracy of Hyrule alongside Queen Zelda, it was a wonder how he had been able to come out here at all. It has been many years.
Tracing unseen footprints, Link walks up the steps of the center platform, to the Mirror frame. Reaching out a hand, his palm covered with brown leather, armguard clinking softly, Link runs his fingers over the concavity of the frame. He almost expects to hear the familiar ringing denoting its activation, but not even microscopic shards remain embedded in the frame. His jawline is harder now, compared to when he was last here. More lucidity and wisdom dwell in his originally innocent and adolescent features. His shoulders are sharper than before, from years more on the road. Smiling bittersweetly at the lack of magic he feels emanating from the empty frame, finally, Link retracts his hand.
As I expected.
