Found this very nice, medium size echinoid on the sand road tracks directly near the field.
Saw it and in that moment I thought only wtf, here so near of those tracks? In front of me now ???? Colored brown like it’s sandy terrain.
Intact, full condition without cracks no fissures no damaged open parts with unknown flint core color. Has the size of an tangerine. 🍊
All of the outer shell pattern is intact, you can seen all sides, the dots, armored parts and star shape, near round like an tangerine but one side is crushed from long time ago, since the fossil formed from the minerals in the once not filled exoskeleton. Brown colored fint like the sand.
I‘am very very glad and happy about this stunning nice find. An Incredible Echinoid.

Here the other echinoid finds from today.
Some big shard, two good near round and two bad in condition, well but good to recognice the shell pattern.
Both flint in under light, dull clear honey white color. I know the light of the photos is shitty. 🫣

One new fragmented flint sea urchin fossil from the field rubble pile. Found today, clear orange crystal like.
So it’s looks like chalcedon, honey clear with core, no cracks. In some flint rocks, minerals fills the gone innards from the fossil in the process.

The new sea urchin fossilized skeleton as flint cores. To bad it’s to late for fossil friday.
Four in total with the fragmented clay colored not in flint. One in yellow flint with some crust.
I was again on the same locations from before, and every time i find new ones.
Again no finds or tracks of other urchin forms like the spiky or heart shaped from some other relatives. Never seen here the stings of some piece.
Precious little echinodem. :D an great find on a nice warm day today.
Also i got two new larger ceramic mugs in glazed brown earth look as container for them.

Die Fossiliensuche geht weiter !
Found some fossilised echinoderm with an handful of round amount of Aulaxinia sulcifera sponge in flint. Flint & chert are the dominant sedimented rocks here with fossil finds.
Again he and his long dead dry urchins !!
One round is fully complete with no cracks.

So today i went to the new area of stone piles. They are older piled up than sugested, with the half side buried in sand piles, pebbles piles with a lot of moss & leaf garden dumping trash.
But i found these among more round Wallstones.
One urchin fossil & a new little urchin in flint stone matrix like the from last week.
It’s not iron stone or sandstone.
Edit: May 9 the pattern on the little brown shown now clear.
Also the trace of an new mussel fossil in gray flint rock.

I gathered the fragmented shell fossils from the others too.
All flint rock fossils now in different angles.
The large flatt echinodem is likely limestone or gypsium with crystals on the bottow.
The clearly limestone white loafy round reminds me to an sea dollar.

Echinoid yellow edition.
Here are the shown echinoids in yellow color.
Found by myself and the two from Dad decades ago ( pic 2 fist sized) 5 now in total. Some like crystalized in chalcedon and others in the last years.
Some are tranculent under light from the mineral, some not. Like them in orange color.
The varity of my echinoid urchin finds now are from yellow to orange, murky red, orange grey, dull brown, grey and not tranculent grey to black flint. The fractured brown to dark gray.
Some in brown are not flint chert sedimentary rock.
The black flint specimen are rare here, not near the coast. Or to hard for the eye to minimum recognize in their pattern.
My vacation days are now ending. Sadly, i have now fewer free time with the upcoming work and stress with a lot of private stress to. Live is an pain in the brain and ass sometimes a lot. 🥲

The chert flint needle shaped mold, suggest and hope some imprints of the distant big echinoid spikes?
Both 4 cm & 3,5 cm in lenght.
Up to date, i have seen nothing like this thin needle strucktures in flint, or fragment before.
I know only some spikes in other sediment or in chalk plates. I do hope in this case, they are finnaly an trace of some needles.

Startet today my first search for fossils on nearby land region in this year of 2024. I live in an middle north profinz side of germany, with no close Connection to the ocean like to the Atlantik.
So i found today this pretty good intacted flint echinodea 4 - (gamerites right ?) now 6 with an big fragmented picked fron the ground from little rubble piles nearby roads in between two hours. This trip was an haul!! Nice little shard in white & then the round ones and the flat side orange in color. Great finds of distant sea urchins.
So may i find more of this little old treasures. I hope also others are now on the hunt of Fossils in your local area, beach or on vacation.

Was on the fossil search with my father.
These are the recently new finds.
Finally we found together an great good sized sea urchin fossil in orange chert, not damaged. Only an quick search for rocks in an short time back to home afterwards. Good time.
Found these echinoids all on an new location, an piele in the woods. With the round flint Wallsteine and the here called „Hexenschüssel“ of cemented sandstone with iron inclusion or seperated with it.
The small echinoid and the imprint of an brachiopod shell was buried on the forest field road tracks. Looking out every road or place with littered round stones or flint on sandy places.

So finds from today, i went on the search from the midday on. Quick posting for you all.
The finds are some sponges in flint again, with an great big like an Aulaxinia, and the tiny echinod clearly to seen in the dark stone matrix embedded. Smoth texture, i was flipping it up.
The sponges have some good pattern on the front parts. I have seen many so often in fractured in pieces or only a piece of it. So each in good condition is an positive relief, right?
Sadly with the so heavy fractured other.
