TW/CW: Mentioned to blood, depiction of massacre, and long post.
Knock-knock~~!
Hi, everyone! It's so long time to I did write long post with my experience about my country that is very norm and weird in meantime. But for foreigners who is visited to Thailand for their first time that is very shocked with our culture. LOL.
Ok, everyone! I'll tell you something about those popular culture shocked in Thailand, which you should know when you come visit to Thailand in your first timely.
Tumblr media
The spirit house (In Thai called "ศาลพระภูมิ (San Phrabhumi)") is a small shrine for sanctuary of laid spirits or tutelary spirit that called by Brahmins or shamans who highly experienced in using conjuring and invocation practice. They are created it for protection their house, habitation, accommodation, or own land. It is very norms in Thai culture, but if you see the spirit house what ruined on roadside or abandoned place. Please avoid it, if you can. And reason many people are always worshiping them with offering by red soft drink. They are believed that red is color of powerful, heat and courage. (It seems like Chinese belief.) But in fact, worshiping by offering with red soft drink is origin from worshiping with offered by blood by animism which it did before Buddhism and Indian culture had been influence in Southeast Asia. Then, after Buddhism and Indian culture had influenced in Southeast Asia. Worshipping with offered by blood restricted for Brahmins, shamans, necromancers, or someone who use black magic practice. However, now. They are popular worshipping with offer by red soft drink instead of blood, because it is safer than worshiping by offering with blood. Also, red soft drink is very easy to find where to buy which rate is cheap and it is safe too.

2. Don't pick up something from natural places, historical sites, archaeological sites, or a place of worship such as temple¹, church, mosque, etc. Because it maybe brings curse spell put on yourself and it does illegal too. And also, many people are not pick up anybody who strange people up on their car or vehicle, if it has not necessity too.
Tumblr media
3. Keep be a quiet, if you hear or noticed something is weird or someone who called you while you are staying at your house, or your accommodation in the night. Because, if you did scream or reply. You maybe get unfortunate to yourself. The belief which from urban legend that said, creating a city pillar with tutelary spirit by they will be buried alive humans somebody names are "อิน (In), จัน (Chan), มั่น (Man), คง (Khong)". Thus, people who are own those names. They would keep quiet up. Indeed, in the past, it existed many burglars at night. It makes to help you have more awareness and for mute them for unknow from your position in the darkness, and also, while you are travelling then you see something is weird thing on roadside. Please keep your doubt up when you arrived at your home which your country or ignore it.
Tumblr media
4. When you wanna itinerary for high season, you should be check about date and time before to do booking a hotel or accommodation. Because if you do travel in high season without, check it before do booking. you have to get over it, which is a hotel or accommodation is full. But if you see somewhere is an available room or a floor is abandoned, it is to be very ok, if you can avoid it. If you can't do it, you should be do pray owner or guest who are not human. In addition, you should do cleansing on yourself when you back to arrive at your house or your accommodation or your home (Your country).
Tumblr media
5. You should do pray for landlord² with respectful. Reason is many Thai people believed anywhere have landlord who tutelary is a deity or a spirit who is a guardian, patron or protector of special area. So, you should educate about how worshiping or praying for them. Because their habit is different, then, when you do pray them correctly. They will protect you and bless you, also, you should thank you them before you will back your home or your country.
Tumblr media
6. If you see brocades tied around on the tree, you should know that maybe exist nymph is haunted. (In Thai called as "นางไม้ (Nang Mai)") She is haunted in that tree. And somebody who is lucky which lottery by her, so, they did always worship back to her for thankful.
Tumblr media
7. Many people usually are praying and worshiping with their vehicles before they will leave their home. It is very norm for someone who is driver, pilot, or fishmen. Their reason is believing that is the spirit or deity who guarding their vehicle, she is a goddess or woman deity. Her name is "แม่ย่านาง (Mae Ya Nang)" She is a goddess or woman deity who protects their vehicles and travelers by bless to them for safety, her worshiping is not only in Thailand, but also in Lao and Cambodia too. It is assumed that the goddess maybe origin from Chinese goddess who sea deity name is "Mazu (Traditional Chinese: 媽祖 and Simplified Chinese: 妈祖)". Which is assumed from Chinese voyage where came in Ayutthaya in Ayutthaya Kingdom era.
Tumblr media
8. Many Thai people mostly to do these daily routines are take a shower and wash their face in morning or evening, they always do take off their shoes and wash their feet when before to come their home or go to bed at night. Because they believed it is cleansing and protected from negative energy or bad spirit that is hidden. Indeed, Thailand is tropical. Thus, weather in Thailand is almost of hot and warm. In addition, it can help to take away from dirty by muds, soil and deodorize too.
Tumblr media
9. While you are waiting your meal order in restaurant then you see many tables have sauces and seasonings, it is very norms in Thai cuisine. So, you can put it in your meals what you want your flavor. And also, you can see mostly beverages are always serving with ice basket or put ice in your drinking for cool off and freshly. However, you can drink it purely by without ice too.
Tumblr media
10. In Thailand, these are many variously stories, beliefs, or urban legends are different by depending on their geographical regions. I will give a few examples, such as in north belief that if you see the red flag on roadside, that is death symbol. Or in south belief that they will not be popular to plant a wild banana tree closed to their house, because it maybe nymph³ is haunted. (In Thai called nymph who is haunted in a wild banana tree as "นางตานี (Nang Tani)") However, it has seemed similar such as north, northeast, central, west, or south are believed that if you see the barn owl or the Asian barred owlet is on your roof. It is ominous, you have to do get it out.
Indeed, it has a lot of stories to tell you and everyone who read it on my blog. But I chose these top 10 topics, in my reason is it is the most popular culture that I saw many foreigners who is in Thailand. And from my friend who has visited in Thailand too. They were very shocked when just see these things in their first time. Thus, I just wanna share my opinion that I get it from my experience, doing research and a little idea about it.
However, you can always visit my country every day, if you are interested! I hope, you will enjoy this!
Notes:
Temple¹ in Thai is meaning "วัด (Wat)" which called as Buddhist place in Thailand, but I just noticed that in English that "Temple" is not only called temple in Buddhist place, but it can also call in Hindu place in Thai called "เทวาลัย (Devalaya)", or "มณเฑียร (Mandir)" (In English called "Hindu Temple", In Hindi called "Mandir", but in Kannada called "Devasthana", in Tamil called "Kovil"), Jain place in Thai called "วัดเชน (Wat Jain)", or "เชนสถาน (Jain Sathan)" (In English aka. Jain Temple, in Gujarati called "Derasar", or in Kannada called "Basadi"), and ancient religions such as ancient Egyptian, ancient Greek, or Mesopotamian too. (You can read more about temple on Wikipedia) Landlord² in here as English as known as "tutelary spirit", in Thai is meaning "ผีเจ้าที่ (Phee Chao tee)". Nymph³ in Thai is meaning "นางไม้ (NangMai)" which spirit is haunted in tree. In Thai language, they will call nymphs followed with name of trees. They will say "Nang (นาง)..." followed with name of trees, such as "นางตะเคียน (Nang Ta Khain)". She is nymph who haunted an Ironwood tree (Hopea odorata), or "นางตานี (Nang Tani)". She is nymph who haunted a wild banana tree (Musa balbisiana). But in my opinion to translation for the spirit of tree in Thai language is "Nymph", my reason is, it is approximate to her image appearance is similar as nymph's image appearance in western. But they are different as nymphs in west are often not wearing any clothes but nymphs in Thailand are usually wearing traditional clothes, however, they are same as they are appeared to as women.

6 Essential International Travel Tips for First-Time Adventurers By Namrata Hinduja
No matter how much you’ve traveled in your own country, planning your first trip abroad can be exciting and also little overwhelming. At Go Overseas, we’ve been traveling the world for years and still pick up new tips and tricks along the way.
Exploring a brand-new place might seem scary or confusing at first, but it doesn’t have to be! Follow these simple tips to prepare for international travel and make your trip stress-free and enjoyable.
Prepare your travel documents
The first and one the most crucial tip to avoid stress is to apply for your passport early and check its validity. Many countries require your passport to have at least six months of validity and enough blank pages for entry. If your passport is close to expiring, renew it before booking your flights, as delays in processing can create disrupt in your plans. Also, research whether you need a visa, as some countries won’t allow you to enter without one. While US and UK passport holders can often travel visa-free or get a visa on arrival, rules vary, so always double-check entry requirements.
Tumblr media
Research about your destination
Take time to research your destination to make your trip smoother and more enjoyable. While traveling spontaneously might sound fun, knowing a bit about the country’s culture, language, and laws can help you avoid surprises. For example, chewing gum is banned in Singapore, feeding pigeons is illegal in Venice, and riding a cow while drunk is against the law in Scotland! Every country has its own unique rules that might seem unusual to outsiders, but understanding them beforehand will help you respect local customs and stay out of trouble.
Questions to research about the country you're visiting
• What is the local currency? • Can you drink the tap water? • What is the dominant religion and are there rules around clothing modesty? • How catered to tourism is your destination? Are accommodations for tourists widely available? • What is the country's main language? How widely is English spoken? • Does the local food align with your dietary requirements? • Do traffic laws in this location differ from your home country?
Address money matters
Before heading off to your faraway destination, make sure to let your bank know about your travel plans. This way, they won’t think your card is being used fraudulently when it suddenly pops up at a market in Thailand!
In some destinations, ATMs might not be easy to find, and many cash-based countries don’t accept cards at most restaurants or shops. If that’s the case, make sure to carry enough cash for your daily expenses. Some travelers like to use a money belt to keep larger amounts safe while exploring.
Book everything in advance
If you’re sure about your travel plans, it’s best to book your trip as soon as you’re ready. While last-minute flexibility might sound exciting, you could face limited options or high prices for accommodations if you wait too long. Many last-minute travelers end up scrambling to find a place to stay, which can be stressful and expensive. The same goes for transport tickets—you’ll often get better deals by booking early. Planning your itinerary in advance not only saves money but also gives you peace of mind, letting you focus on enjoying your trip without worrying about what’s next.
prioritize your safety and health
While it’s not helpful to worry too much about what could go wrong, staying aware of your surroundings and taking simple safety precautions will help you enjoy your adventure to the fullest.
Safety tips to follow while abroad
• Keep your belongings safe from pickpockets by using a crossbody bag or fanny pack. These are great for storing your phone and wallet securely. Avoid keeping valuables in your back pocket or the outside of your backpack! If you're extra worried, consider using a money belt under your clothes or a theft-proof wallet for added security.
• Stay connected by sharing your travel plans with friends and family before you go, including your accommodation details and contact information. If you're from the US, consider signing up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) with the U.S. State Department. This way, the local U.S. Embassy can reach out to you in case of emergencies like natural disasters or political issues.
• Consider getting travel insurance as an essential part of your trip preparation. It can help cover unexpected costs like emergency evacuations or lost luggage, saving you money if something goes wrong. You can find travel insurance and other helpful items on GO’s nomad essentials page!
• Use your common sense while traveling. Ask locals or hotel staff about areas to avoid. It's a good idea to travel with a buddy at night, and if you're going out, don't drink too much, especially if you're alone or with people you don't trust. If you use apps to meet new people, you always meet in public places. Most importantly, trust your instincts—if something or someone feels off, listen to that feeling!
Pack appropriately
Packing smartly can make your trip much easier. Avoid overpacking or leaving things disorganized. Use packing cubes to keep your clothes neat and save space—they're cheap and super helpful. Pack light but remember to bring clothes for different weather conditions. A heavy bag can be a hassle, especially in places without elevators. If you're worried about running out of clean clothes, use a laundry service or buy new clothes as souvenirs. For safety, lock your bags, keep valuables like electronics in your carry-on, and store important items in your room safe or hostel locker.
Conclusion
Although making a list of things to do before your first international trip might seem like a lot of work, it will make your journey much better! Plan ahead, get travel insurance, and use packing cubes to stay organized. Remember, it's better to enjoy your trip slowly and focus on quality rather than rushing through it. By being prepared, you'll have an amazing experience and will likely be excited to travel more in the future!

First Time Traveling in Thailand
This is actually my very first time traveling to a different country. And as it turns out, like everything you experience for the first time, it is overwhelming as hell! From the preparation to going to the airport, to figuring out which characters say "Men" in the restroom. (Thank heavens for the invention of icons!)🧍‍♂️
Tumblr media
Despite that, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. My wife and I had the most fulfilling adventure that improved our perspective on the world, our personal capabilities, and our spiritual growth. In this blog, I want to share how we planned our first trip to Thailand.
Tumblr media
Preparation
Most of the successes¹ that we experienced on our trip were because of my wife’s organisational skills in seriously taking the time to research, plan and endlessly evaluate. We have designed our trip 8 months before the actual flight. My wife always wanted to go to another country to explore and for other reasons. (*cough* bragging rights *cough*)
Anyway, yes. For 8 months of preparation, we kept our finances in check, set goals on our bank accounts², and planned the routes of the places were going. no agencies, no internal connections. Just plain YouTube videos and Facebook Groups in DIY Travel Communities.
Because of this preparation phase, we have enjoyed our travel to the fullest, without looking like the wandering idiots that we already are. It was just pack, airport, immigration, plane, train and then boom! 🇹🇭You’re in the hotel as if you already know the country. No asking obvious questions that’ll embarrass you, no checking on the phone what to say nor what to do, and no first-time experience anxiety. Which was kind of weird, to be honest, it was that smooth.
Tumblr media
The Trip
The trip went flawlessly as long as you took the time and effort to plan things out in your itinerary. Although you don’t need to follow it chronologically (if you’re on a DIY travel plan), just think of it as a checklist for you to use to find the most efficient way to get things done. Most of the time, we managed to tick off almost everything on the Day 1 itinerary, allowing us to jump into Day 2 activities.
The only struggle for us was knowing the difference between fair pricing for a tuk-tuk ride. We were aware that there are many scammers in Thailand, as in all other tourist places in the world. So, we used the Grab app and then bargained our way there. For example, if a Grab Car ride costs 100฿ Baht from point A to point B, we would negotiate with the tuk-tuk driver for 70฿ or 80฿ Baht. It didn’t work every time, but at least we knew what the fair price was.
Tumblr media
Conclusions
I really enjoyed this trip, and it actually inspired me to save more money for future travels. I’m grateful for the long preparation my wife did just to make this adventure of a lifetime happen. It wasn’t easy, and boy, was it tedious. But it allowed me to enjoy my time on the journey, not waste myself wandering and being frustrated, and ending up lost.
In fact, we were so organized in our plan that we took the time to learn the language, understand the culture, genuinely taste the food and not just "eat it," and spend time becoming one of the people, not just tourists. The best part was having extra money in our budget because we realized we didn’t have to spend as much as we thought.
Things will try to get in your way of making it happen³—unexpected health issues, financial crises, not getting approved by immigration, or even just being unlucky. But if you’re immensely determined and plan things out, it will come together as if it was meant to be.
Tumblr media
Kap Khun Krap
You can check the itinerary here if you want to plan your own travel. It has all the details you need.
¹not getting offloaded, lost, scammed, buying the right food and not overspending from the budget are considered successes for us.
²(and by setting goals on our bank accounts I mean consistently putting money and not just putting a one-time big cash in the bank statement. -  when the immigration office gets a chance to see that, they might be sceptical of the sudden change and may lead you offloaded.)
³That's why I recommend building an emergency fund first. It'll be even better if you have life insurance and health insurance. And yes, that was also part of our planning.

Exploring Convenient Transportation Options from Phuket Airport to Patong and Beyond
Phuket, Thailand's largest island, is a popular destination for tourists seeking tropical beauty, vibrant nightlife, and unforgettable experiences. For many travelers arriving in Phuket, one of the first things they need to consider is how to get from Phuket Airport to Patong, the island's most famous beach town. Fortunately, Phuket offers a range of transportation services to make your journey comfortable and stress-free. Whether you're heading straight to Patong or planning an exciting island-hopping adventure, there are numerous options available.
Phuket Airport Transportation Services: A Range of Options
Upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, travelers are greeted by various transportation services, ensuring a seamless connection between the airport and your accommodation or desired destination. The most common options include:
Taxi Services: Taxis are a convenient and readily available form of transportation. A taxi ride from Phuket Airport to Patong typically takes around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis are metered, but a fixed rate for Patong is often charged for convenience.
Private Transfers: For those who prefer a more comfortable and personalized experience, private transfer services are a great option. Many travelers opt for this service to avoid the hassle of waiting in long lines or sharing a vehicle with others. Booking a private car ensures direct and fast service to your hotel or resort in Patong.
Shuttle Buses: For budget-conscious travelers, shared shuttle buses are available at Phuket Airport. These are typically less expensive than taxis or private transfers but may take longer due to multiple stops along the way. The shuttle buses operate on a fixed schedule and can be booked in advance.
Car Rentals: If you prefer the flexibility of exploring Phuket at your own pace, renting a car at the airport is a great choice. Several car rental agencies are located at the airport, offering a wide range of vehicles. However, it’s important to be familiar with local driving laws and conditions before opting for this choice.
Speed Boat Private Charter Phuket: A Unique Way to Explore the Islands
Phuket is surrounded by stunning islands, and one of the best ways to explore them is by boat. For those seeking privacy and luxury, Speed Boat Private Charter Phuket offers an exclusive experience. This service allows you to charter a speedboat to explore nearby islands such as Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay, or Coral Island.
A private speedboat charter provides the flexibility to choose your itinerary, enjoy a more intimate experience without the crowds, and access hard-to-reach spots. Whether you’re looking to go snorkeling, visit secluded beaches, or simply relax on the water, a private charter gives you the freedom to create your own adventure.
Phi Phi Island Speedboat Tour: An Unforgettable Experience
No trip to Phuket is complete without visiting the stunning Phi Phi Islands, a group of islands known for their crystal-clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and vibrant marine life. One of the best ways to reach Phi Phi Island from Phuket is via a Speedboat Tour.
Phi Phi Island speedboat tours typically depart from the mainland in the morning and include a visit to several key spots on the islands. These may include the famous Maya Bay (made famous by the movie "The Beach"), Viking Cave, and Bamboo Island. Many tours also include activities such as snorkeling, swimming, or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery. A speedboat ride allows you to explore the islands quickly and comfortably, with plenty of time to enjoy each location.
Conclusion
Getting from Phuket airport transportation services is easy, with multiple transportation options available to suit different budgets and preferences. From taxis and private transfers to shuttle buses and car rentals, you’ll find a service that meets your needs. For those looking to explore Phuket’s stunning islands, a Speed Boat Private Charter Phuket offers an exclusive and flexible way to experience the natural beauty of the region, while a Phi Phi Island Speedboat Tour promises an unforgettable adventure.
No matter how you choose to travel, Phuket's transportation services ensure that you can make the most of your time on this tropical paradise, whether you're heading to Patong for a relaxing beach holiday or embarking on an exciting island-hopping adventure.
