I waited 9 years of my life to see:

-Child actors somehow outperforming the adults

-A MatPat cameo

-A cop threatening to point blank shoot an innocent civilian that's still recovering from his childhood truama

-A SHIT TON of Easter eggs

-Horror icons that gave made me stay up all night be used for a cutsey montage where they build a fucking fort with our protagonists (okay it was kinda cute)

-Characters that had nothing to do with the games

-Fucked up lore

-A script that feels like it's a crappy Netflix movie

-And the Living Tombstone song being played at the end credits

And I loved every second of it. Bring on the terrible sequels

no hate to whoever wrote the article, but I'm sorry to say that you missed the point here.

Of course the Minecraft movie was gonna be geared towards 9 year olds, no one was expecting otherwise, but they're excluding a large part of the consumer base as well.

Outside of children, there is a large market of adults looking forwards to the Minecraft movie as well. In terms of marketing, it means you have two very big demographics. Alienating one demographic is just simply a bad business move, which is what they've done.

The Minecraft movie looks clearly like people who don't know anything about Minecraft that are making a movie on it, and don't care to put effort in.

The story is clear from the trailer, and it doesn't even match up with the game. Piglins only attack you because either you don't wear gold and/or you attacked them, so why are they the main enemy? Would it not make more sense to have pillagers as the enemy for one example? Pillagers are always hostile and go out of their way to attack villages, you could make an interesting story with that.

But the biggest complaint I see isn't even any of these, it's the graphics and stylisation. The graphics look unpolished, and they teeter on an uncanny valley.

And lastly, children aren't dumb. Even if the movie is completely for children, it's still bad. Especially for the slightly older user base of 12 year olds who, I assume, would also be the target demographic. (Unless they chose to make the target demographic of exclusively 9 year olds, which is a bad idea.) Children know when they're being given something of low quality. They know when the movie they're seeing is bad and not cared much about. They're not stupid, they just don't have the context for most things to be able to understand.

You know who did a movie like this well? The FNAF movie.

They made a movie equally engaging for adults and kids alike, which had a great story as well as visuals. But most of all? They listened.

They got the community to help make an amazing movie so that they knew the community would like it. They added fun Easter eggs, some of which would be more basic and some of which would be less well known to engage every audience. It wasn't a soulless movie which feels like a quick cash grab, it felt like it cared.

TL;DR: people aren't pissed at the Minecraft movie because it's not made for adults (even though it's just bad businesses to not include them, since they're a core part of the demographic) they're pissed because it's clear that it feels like a cheap, badly made cash grab.

your mom smiled at him with a laugh “nice to meet you, i hear good things about you.” she says and isagi nods while trying not to seem too nervous as your dad hasn’t said anything yet. “yeah, nice to meet you man.” your father says raising a fist for a fist bump.

isagi smiled non-nervously for the first time and returned the fist bump. you leaned on his side comfortingly but the conversation was cut short when your baby cousin ran up and tapped your boyfriend’s leg. “play with me! help me find eggs!” she yelled jumping up and down and isagi looked at you for approval and you nodded before watching the two scurry away toward the yard.

“better start cooking, he’s gonna work up an appetite.” your mom said to your dad with a laugh making a deep belly chuckle come from him while you sweat-dropped. isagi could be really competitive when he wanted to and lord knows that those little kids took this egg hunt seriously. he was gonna be the designated babysitter for the rest of his life.

“yoichi!” you yelled from the porch glaring at him to tone it down and he sighed and dropped the child but only whispered his threats now. ever since then isagi loved going to your family gatherings, he likes the children games.

he swiftly dodged one of the soccer balls he got one of your nieces as a gift and made his way to you and your mom. “here baby.” sae muttered handing you your plate and then your mother hers. you thanked him with a smile but the smile didn’t last long when you heard the huff of your aunt beside your mom.

“honey, i feel so bad for you. you had to make her plate.” your aunt said with a small chuckle as the boy sat next to you with a confused look on his face. “why is that a bad thing?” he asked already not liking where this conversation was going. the entire car ride, you were complaining about this aunt and how annoying she was toward you but how you never said anything.

you grabbed his hand to tell him to just let it go but you should’ve known better, if you weren’t going to do something, he was going to do it. “well you’re the man, she’s supposed to be serving you.” sae rolled his eyes very obviously with a ‘ugh’ leaving his throat.

you took a spoonful of food and shoved it in his mouth before kissing his cheek to thank him for standing up for you. “you’re annoying.” sae said beneath his breath and you just told him “thank you.”

“wooo!” “damn man!” the men whistled as they gathered around your dear boyfriend who just laughed extremely loud. then his stomach started to growl and he immediately looked over to you who watched the entire ordeal “babydoll!” the tanned man shouted immediately gaining your attention. “can you get my plate please?” he asked still yelling. usually you would’ve told him no and that he can get it himself but he was having so much fun, so you nodded and went inside to get his plate

when you came back from retrieving his plate, he was sitting at the table on the porch waiting for you breathing heavily. “you have fun over there?” you asked sitting next to him and he nodded with a laugh “yeah and now i’m hungry, feed me.” shidou said with his words coming out as a jokingly beastly sound making you grin.

“nah, you have hands.” you said pushing the plate toward him but he let out a groan as he threw his head back. “my bones hurt.” you sighed at his pleading and picked up the fork before scooping mac and cheese on it and of course, shidou had to give you instructions. “get some of the barbecue from the ribs on it.”

“i’m not a huge soccer guy but you are good.” your dad said walking over and putting his back comfortingly making kunigami smile. then came your mom with a styrofoam box in her hand. she practically forced it into his hands “here, i thought you’d need it after allat running.” she said and your boyfriend smiled not overwhelmed one bit with all the attention.

kunigami opened the box and ate a spoonful of one of the food portions and immediately hummed in delight. “mhm! this is so good. you either have to give me the recipe or make me my own tray.” the ginger boy said with a hearty smile on his visage.

Cosmere Kids on an Easter Egg Hunt

It's Easter! Kids from across the Cosmere are participating in an Easter Egg Hunt--let's check in on how they're doing!

1. Tien: Does great (by his own standards)

Tien is fantastic at distinguishing colors, so picking out the eggs hidden in the landscape is a piece of cake for him. However...his basket has way more cool rocks in it than it does eggs at the end. Tien calls this a wondrous success.

2. Lift: Does great (by her own standards)

Lift could find the eggs, sure, no problem. But it's far more of a challenge to steal at least one piece of food from every adult in attendance. By the end, her basket is full! Lift calls this a wondrous success.

3. Kaise: Is brutally efficient

Kaise will win this egg hunt, if it's the last thing she does. She's mowing down other children and snatching eggs with terrible efficiency. D-Does she have a sword?? Who gave that child a sword???

4. Daorn: Is mostly competing with his sister

Daorn doesn't care if he wins or loses--he just wants to beat Kaise. He's also mowing down littler children but if you ask him, he's definitely more mature than his sister. Definitely.

5. Oroden: Is having a great time

Oroden is toddling about with Kaladin, sorta looking for eggs but mostly just, you know, being a toddler. Every now and again Kaladin points out an egg and Oroden is happy to find it. Is Kaladin crying? I mean, maybe just a little.

6. Gavinor: Is very serious

Gavinor is a small, haunted child. He seems to be taking this egg hunt very seriously. Or at least, he isn't smiling much. He finds an egg and stares at it. What does he see within that swirled green and pink paint? Do we want to know?

7. Max & Tindwyl: Are trying to lasso the eggs

It does not work well, but the kids are having a great time and Wax is laughing his head off. Even Steris looks amused.

8. Pattern: Humans sure are funny (What? He's sort of a baby in spren terms!)

Pattern can simply see the underlying pattern of where humans will hide the eggs, based on quadrant, landscape features, egg color distribution, etc. He doesn't quite understand why humans enjoy "hunting" for something whose locations can be mathematically predicted, but he thinks it's pretty neat anyway!

9. Syl: This may be the greatest human invention ever (What? She's sort of a baby in spren terms!)

Syl started out with Kaladin and Oroden, but now she's zipping about, trying to find all of the eggs. She doesn't do anything with them, she just likes to spot them...and occasionally pretend to have spotted them to mess with Kaise & Daorn, who keep following her.

10. Karata's zombie Elantris children: Are eating the eggs

Don't get me wrong--they are having a great time. They find eggs, and they eat them! This may be the greatest game they have every played. Just a horde of zombie children, being watched over fondly by a zombie woman.

I feel like for the Minecraft Movie they really could've taken a similar route to Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

Respect for the source material. Making the characters know their own world better than we do (allowing the audience to learn as the story progresses or pick up immediately what's going on based on being a long time fan of the game)

Having humour but never to make fun of the game. Leaving Easter eggs for fans and second time watchers. Describing that 'this magic item will make this happen but we're going to call them by their real name like Endereye and the End dimension even if non fans of the game don't immediately understand what these objects and places are'

I've never played dungeons and dragons in my life but I watched the movie and understood the basics of the world pretty fast. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a story while watching reaction/analysis videos on YouTube later to getting a more in depth appreciation for the game references (which taught me new things).

The Minecraft movie just feels like someone who doesn't play the game made it. They think the concept is dumb and they really wanted to emphasise the absurdity of the world.

I would've liked to see a movie that appreciates what makes Minecraft fun. There are so many reasons people play the game and you could pick from any of them and tell a story.

(Redstone feels like coding and engineering, building feels like architecture and interior design, organics feel like sculpting and being an explorer feels like you can learn in a safe environment and create a little home away from drama.)

This is a ramble since I haven't watched the Minecraft movie and trailers are usually misleading. It just seems the direction is off.

I enjoyed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle so if they could bring a bit of that energy I'd be happy.

The point of this post is mostly to say I hope they tailor to fans of the game instead of treating the audience like no one's heard of it, it's for kids and there's nothing special besides goofily animated animals. Minecraft has just had its 15th anniversary. It's been around for a long time and there are long time fans (aka adults) as well as newly emerging fans (aka younger audiences).

We'll see how the movie goes when it's released ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know what to expect.

Missouri was my home, and I can’t go back because I’m trans.

Before the rest, I want to clarify: I do not get my hrt through a Missouri healthcare provider. This will not impact my medical transition, and I am so very lucky to not have to worry about that. Many, many transgender people living in Missouri do not have that luxury. However, I am hurt, and I am scared. I was not intending to move back to Missouri, because I am a lot happier where I am now. However, I’m very scared about the precedent that this sets. Missouri is the first state to pass legislation that restricts access to medical transition not only for minors, but for ADULTS. I would be very surprised if this was where their anti trans legislation stopped. Based on how they seem to be leading the charge against transgender rights in this regard, it seems very likely to me that within the next few years, trans peoples rights to public spaces in Missouri will be legally restricted. If this happens, I will not be able to visit about half of my family members.

The rest of this post is me coming to terms with that.

I flew to my home city, St. Louis Missouri for Pesach recently. I was so excited to spend the holiday with my family. Several members of my family were unable to get off work/school on the actual holiday, so I flew home on Easter weekend and we had our Seder on Easter. This is because in the USA, Easter and Christmas are federal holidays that get automatic off days, unlike Jewish holidays. The Seder happened at my grandma’s house and my entire extended family was invited, as is our family tradition. I had a lovely weekend with my family.

While I was visiting, I stayed in my grandparents house. Growing up I spent nearly every weekend there. My grandparents have always done their best to make me feel at home there. I have countless memories at that house of Shabbat with my grandma, playing games with my cousins and sister, climbing the big tree in the backyard, play dates with friends, doing all sorts of arts and crafts projects with my grandma, teaching myself to use a sewing machine on the living room floor, playing d&d in the basement, and big extended family gatherings for every Pesach, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur every year. It is one of the places that makes me feel the safest out of any place on earth. I would consider it my backup home. And as always, our Passover Seder was amazing.

This trip home coincided with my parents selling the house I lived in until I was 18. This has been in the works for a long time, so it did not come as a surprise to me. Even so, both my grandma and grandpa reassured me repeatedly throughout the weekend that I would always have a home at their house. That I could always come back, to visit or stay as long as I need. That this place would always be my home.

One of the things I did while I was staying there was make sure I had copies of all of the family records that my grandma had saved. Things like family trees, Ellis Island immigration records, death certificates, writings of long deceased relatives. I want to preserve as much of our family history as I can, because too much Jewish history has been destroyed by those who hate us. I already knew that my family has lived in the same city in Missouri practically since they immigrated, I think it’s something like 4 generations. Looking through these documents and reading things the previous generation of my family has written was fascinating and deeply moving to me. It cemented in my mind the fact that my family history is completely intertwined with the St. Louis Jewish community.

And of course, the synagogue I belonged to growing up is in Missouri. Where I spent the high holy days, where I was bat mitzvah’d, where I went to hebrew school every week. My Hebrew school teachers. My rabbis. I’ll be visiting it soon for my cousins Bat Mitzvah, and I’m hoping I might get a chance the day after to sit and talk with my rabbis. I feel like I need to say goodbye to them.

I can’t go back to any of these things. It has taken me a long time to write this post because this is so painful for me. I love my family so very dearly, and I have a big family. My cousins were like extra siblings to me growing up, I’m close with all of my second cousins and their partners and kids, my aunts and uncles, my great aunts and uncles, and my great grandparents when they were alive. I don’t go back to St Louis for the city, I go back for them. My grandparents have lived in St. Louis for their entire lives, and they aren’t going to move. Nor do I want them to have to, they’re so happy there. They have carved out a very comfortable and safe place for their family and friends. It’s just not a place I will be welcomed in for much longer, and that is out of our control. They will travel to visit me once in a while, but I know that me not being able to visit Missouri would drastically cut down on the time I can spend with them. And realistically, they are getting old. I don’t know how much longer cross country travel will be safe and feasible for them.

My family took a long time to get on board with my transition, largely because they were lied to by politicians and mental health “professionals” who were unqualified to treat transgender patients. I don’t want to spend too much time talking about that. To me what matters is that they unconditionally support me as a trans man now, and even though they were misinformed and said and did things that hurt me, they have always loved me. And they have made an incredible and effective effort to not only apologize for the harm they caused, but to change the way they treated me in order to express that love. My grandpa, previously the most old fashioned, socially conservative, and transphobic member of my family, will now call me to say things like “the other day this meshuggenah tried to tell me trans people are dangerous, I told him my grandson is transgender and to shut the fuck up. You shoulda seen the look on his face.” My grandma and mom both flew across the country with me to help me prepare for and recover from my top surgery. I could not have asked for better people to care for me post op.

Despite how supportive they are now, it’s only fairly recently that I’ve repaired my relationship with my family enough to enjoy spending long periods of time with them. It is still hard for me to talk to certain family members because I am trans. But the last few trips home have been the first times in a long time I have had a wonderful time with my family, which is something I missed and needed for so long.

I think that is going to be taken away again very soon. And it’s being pushed by the very same people who lied to my family and drove a wedge between us in the first place. This time it is out of our control.

To say I’m heartbroken would be an understatement. It’s hard for me to even conceptualize the concept that my ability to see my family is being slowly taken from me by the Christian zealots in our government. It feels like just now that I’ve been fully accepted and embraced, I’m being forced out again. And once again, it is under the guise of protecting people like me. They expect me to believe that this is for my own good. That all of the bullying and abuse and dysphoria I was forced to endure for my entire childhood was for my own good, because g-d forbid I be transgender and happy.

I had to move across the country to escape unsafe living conditions caused by white Anglo Saxon Christians, and now I’m uncertain of my ability to visit the family members I left behind. Ironically, this is a very Jewish experience. I imagine this is a much smaller version of the pain my ancestors felt when they immigrated to America and left their family behind in Russia and Poland. In a way, this experience connects me to my Jewish heritage in a profoundly painful way.

This was a long and rambly post. I’m just hurting a lot right now, and I needed to talk. Thank you to anyone who read this far.

Hello everyone!!!

Another post today haha... but i needed the last two for this one to be complete haha.

Here you have some late easter poses for your sims to help the flower bunny to make the day really special haha...

I named this posepack as a groupal posepack and then i realize that there are no "groupal" poses but trio and duo ones xD but as you can combine these to make a groupal shot, i decided to let it be.

I had a loooot of idead for this posepack but unfortunatelly i can't do a pack with hundred of poses (I mean... I can... but I won't haha)... so here you have 12 diverse poses that you can use with your little pixels to celebrate easter... hopefully, next year I'll do more xD but for now this is it.

Holidays

Pairings: Survey Corps - their fave holidays

A/N: I considered Japanese holidays for this bit but then laziness got the best of me. Like most pieces I create with these characters a lot of how I envision them will relate to western/modern culture in some way or another. Though they probably won't celebrate half of the holidays I'm about to list, I want to reiterate that this is my idea of the traits these characters possess and also they are not real. 

Headcannons Masterlist

Eren  - Christmas

Eren is big on family, especially the family he’s made with Armin and Mikasa. It’s clear that he stands ten toes down behind them and when he gets his own family, it’ll be much the same. I actually think having kids will bring out the fluff in Eren and he’ll be that obnoxious holiday parent that's doing the most with decorations and presents. But it's honestly the atmosphere that gets him going. The holiday cheer, the kindness, the emphasis on giving - he loves it all. 

Levi - New Years

The new year signals a new beginning but also the close to another chapter. Each time Levi makes it to a new year he’s thankful but mostly shocked. From life underground to humanity's biggest threat, he never knows when disaster might strike. But, when the clock strikes 12 it's a moment of relief, one where he can sit back and relish in the thought that he’s made it to another trip around the sun. 

Erwin - Fathers Day

Lmaoo I'm not tryna make Erwin sound egotistical at all, but I was also running out of popular holidays. The day the Scouts headed to their mission to plug wall Maria was the first time we saw them get a standing ovation and it was also the first time we saw Erwin express such vocal excitement. Even though he can come off a bit aloof, I thought it was fun to see him in that way. That being said I think he’d enjoy being celebrated and can even play up the wowwwws at the macaroni necklaces and handprint construction papers lol. He would love and take care of his family obvi but it’d also make him feel good to feel that admiration in return. 

Connie - Thanksgiving 

You feed this man and he’ll love you forever. It’s his favorite holiday because it has back to back benefits. There's tons of food, a four day weekend off from work, and the opportunity to spend time with his family. He’s the type to pitch in money but over the years Connie has been more inclined to learn how to cook and has even started bringing in a dish. He’s most excited to try a Friendsgiving as he considers them family as well. 

Jean - Valentines Day

I firmly believe that Jean is a romantic. I don't think he’d be the most creative at gift giving lol but it’s certainly the thought that counts. On valentines day he goes all out - teddy bears, flowers, chocolates, etc. ya know, the usual. Although his gifts are very on the nose and sometimes he needs to be spoon fed the information, what he lacks in creativity, he'll gain in experience; learning to step his game up as the years go by. Again, sweet guy. 

Onyankopon - Easter

He more so likes the spring break aspect of it. With the flowers blooming and the sun making regular appearances, it was usually the first sign to what summer would be like. Ony enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures. So although spring break was meant to party, which he did, Ony always made the time to immerse himself in the customs of whichever country he visited. Now as an adult, he still indulged in his version of spring break as he always enjoyed the mini relaxation that it brought about; thinking of it as his summer outside of summer. 

Reiner - Independence Day

Reiner is over the whole patriotic thing, however he can't help but enjoy the events that take place because of it. There’s literally a bbq happening on every corner so he’s for sure house hopping for a plate. There's all sorts of sales and Gabi is making him put that wallet to USE hunnie. And while he doesn’t mind, he more so enjoys their time spent together. There's also the beautiful fireworks that light up the evening sky. And at the end of the day he gets to spend his remaining time with family, gathered around over good food and even better vibes. 

Armin - Mothers Day

Armin is def the type to dote on his wife. Hard day at work? He’s rubbing the stress out of your shoulders. Hungry? He’s cooking and prepping lunch for the week. Overwhelmed at work? He’s booking you a spa day. Armin literally adores his woman and enjoys any chance he has to celebrate her and Mothers Day is no exception. Expect him and the kiddies to hand make you some arts and crafts, cook you breakfast, and plan the holiday around your desired interests; with him making sure, at the end of the day, to show you why you celebrate the holiday in the first place. 

Floch - Halloween

He’s big on the spooky vibe but not to a concerning extent. Like many others he just enjoys the activities surrounding it. This is actually where Floch flourishes in creativity and fun. He’s making spooky themed treats, decorating to upstage the next door neighbor, and enjoying all the movie classics. Let's not even get started on the lengths he’ll go through to make the most life-like costumes and the parties where he shows it all off?? Top mf notch! Bonus points for getting some action at said parties.
