     He’d done it.

   It had been a process in trial and error, but he’d done it. He’d successfully    healed Jasper. Of course, he had NO ideas on what he should do now - he    hadn’t planned that far ahead. So, with Jasper (reluctantly) sat on his couch,    and Steven awaiting the return of the other gems, he nervously twisted his    hands together. He wasn’t sure why she HADN’T attacked him, but he definitely    wasn’t going to complain. Instead, they just... stared at each other, waiting for    the other to crack first.

   Steven, of course, was the one to break under the pressure, and he rubbed the    back of his neck slowly. 

   “Soooo...Can I get you a drink, or...?”

          One thing Yellow Pearl would often say is, “My Diamond’s happiness is my own.” But does the same hold true for sorrow? The answer, to a certain degree, is yes.

          Just like how she remains at Her Diamond’s side at almost all times, Yellow Pearl was there when Yellow Diamond found out the news of Pink Diamond’s shattering. And oh, what a sorrowful time that was. Yellow Pearl would sing, a tiny little melody, repetitive yet soothing, to cheer Her Diamond up, but sometimes not even that was enough. And during those times she would hang her head down, lower her gaze to the ground, and not speak unless she was ordered to. If it was quietness Her Diamond needed, Pearl was more than willing to oblige.

          But what of her own sorrow? The times her shoulders would slump of their own accord, giving way to tears she let fall for her own reasons instead of anyone else’s? Preposterous, many gems would say. Pearls are supposed to live for the ones they were made for. They shouldn’t even have their own thoughts, their own feelings; why should they feel sorrow independent from what their owner feels?

          Yellow Pearl agrees, for the most part. But, in some universes, she’d find out for herself just how deep sorrow can cut.

like...ok scrap actually went by her actual name Maxie for a while but once her mom died she had to interact with others and they forced the name ‘scrap’ onto her because like...ok everyone who isn’t rich or an enforcer is kinda scrawny in the junker community but to be called ‘scrappy’ or anything like that is a pretty big insult. not only were they insulting her they were insinuating that she wasn’t desirable and no one would want her and 

now i’m sad.

      “Survived the war, didn’t I? I’m not stupid.” And it had been hardly her fault for the lack of interaction with the others from beta ( and while she TRIES to have a hardened heart around them —- to adopt the stance of homeworld opinions and attitudes towards ‘imperfect quartz soldiers’, the jasper speaking to her —- she’d helped keep her alive ), but she’s here now, and she sees through her lies as easily as glass. “What’re you even busy with? Guarding humans?”

Her lips left out a soft huff and she shook her head a little, shoulders shaking as she chuckles. 

She deserved that one, yet did she realize that her phrasing was maybe a little more off from what she actually meant. While enjoying teasing the other, this time, she did not meant to.

❝ If you must know, I’m doing a pretty okay job up there, thank you very much, But ... That’s not what I meant. ❞ 

Skinny tilted her head, her eyes searching for Jaspers. When found, she gave her a smile. 

❝ I know you did. And we are proud of you for that. ❞

     ❛ you would have been her most favored jasper. ❜ in barely more than a whisper , the diamond praises the quartz soldier. of course , she’d heard tell of the ‘ perfect quartz ‘ , and seeing her now , it was a shame that she would never be able to join pink’s service.
