Quirks (H.R. Wells x Reader)
Rating: G
Summary: Sharing some noodles with H.R. one evening leads to some observations between the two of you.
A/N: Here’s a little something short and sweet for H.R. because he’s lovely and deserves more fics.
You don’t make it two bites of your ramen before H.R. splits his own pair of chopsticks in half and begins drumming on the table with them.
“Honestly,” you say after chewing, “can you not sit still, ever?” If he’s not drumming or twirling his drumsticks, it’s something else. Pens, spoons, anything he can get his hands on.
“Does this bother you?” the author asks genuinely, though a hint of a smile is present on his face as he continues his percussion nonetheless.
“Not exactly, it’s just an observation.”
“Anything else?” He sounds amused.
You nod to his mug in his hands, “I know you have at least one mug of coffee with every meal and far more than the average amount in between them. You know you have an unhealthy atta-”
“Ah, ah, ah, (Y/N), don’t you go getting psychiatric on me,” H.R. stops you. “I don’t go on about all the cute little quirks I notice about you.”
Cute little quirks?
Cute?
You move a strand of hair behind your ear, not sure of what to say to that.
“Like what?” you finally ask.
“Like that,” he puts simply, “the hair move.” You feel your face growing warm.
“Oh. Right, well, um, could you pass the dumplings, please?”
H.R. seems to smile at you knowingly, but suddenly you can’t look him in the eyes too much anymore.

House (HR Wells x Reader)
Note: I’m currently working on those request, I wrote this a while back and I figured I’d post it now since I haven't posted lately.
Summary: Cisco makes a comment about how Team Flash is like a family. But who plays what roles?
_______
“No, I’m not!” You screeched at Cisco. He chuckled sinking back in his chair. “Oh yes, you are.” He shifted to high five Barry. “Oh yeah well your like the family house cat and Barry’s the gay best friend!” You retorted as Barry’s laughter stopped abruptly, grin disappearing. Cisco continued to laugh and pointed at Barry.
“Seriously!” Barry asked. “Is that really what you imagine me as?” You both nodded. Barry sighed in astonishment before turning back to you. Quickly regaining his confidence, he spoke victoriously. “Yeah well, I’d sooner be the gay best friend then be the constantly horny dad.” Palms clenching into fists, as you stomped your foot. “I’m not horny!” You shouted as Caitlin, Harry, and HR strolled into the Cortex.
Caitlin arched an eyebrow. “What ya' talking about?” She quizzed, worried the answer would be revolting. Cisco swirled around in his chair to face her. “If Team Flash was a family, Y/N would be the player father, you would be her sixteen-year-old daughter, Barry’s your gay best friend, HR’s your Mom, and Y/N's innocent house wife. I’m the house cat, Harry’s the single mom next door who's always flirting and trying to get in Y/N's pants.” Both HR and Harry’s head snapped in Cisco’s direction.
“I’m Y/N’s side hoe?” “We're married?” They asked in unison. Cisco nodded, a wide grin stretching across his face. “Now you're getting it.”

MASTERLIST
A low groan left HR's lips. His body felt numb, his chest ached - tingled as his heart beats steadily. Is it beating? The darkness of his eyelids eased the stinging coming from his mind – it wasn’t so bright. The headache formed there. His body screamed at him as the novelist made the slightest of movement. His left shoulder in particular had protested in desperate agony. He couldn’t move it very much, the area succumbed to restraints of some sort. HR’s throat felt raw as his body throbbed, the blood coursing meticulously through his blood vessels. The sound of a soft voice greeted his ears, but his eyes refused to open.
"I... you, HR... even if... see it." The voice was so familiar, so gentle. So sweet. "Should... better." A drop of water hit his numbed hand, static still prominent there from the little movement his body had done. “I wish…” The dark-haired doppelganger could only understand fragments of what the speaker was saying. He felt a pressure on his hand, tender skin holding onto his before something tickled his forehead. Feather-light. What was it? Who was it? A few moments passed and he heard nothing, the novelist only assumed that the voice’s owner had left. He didn’t want to be alone right now though, not with the darkness.
It had become unbearable.
Since... Since when did…? How...? Oh. Right. Savitar... Am I dead? Is this where spirits wait for their turn to pass into their designated afterlife? Have I really...? Events from earlier resurfaced to his mind, his senses coming together. Right, had to protect Iris. For Barry – it was my fault Savitar had gotten to her. My big mouth. Even if Barry didn't really see me as a helpful friend. At least... At least I proved Savitar wrong, who ironically is a version of Barry. That's hella twisted. He huffed out a breath before venturing back into the calmness of sleep. Maybe a little more rest will help?
***
HR cracked an eye open: this time, harsh filtered light had greeted him. The novelist grunted in pain, adjusting himself slightly to assess where he was. What day was it? What was the time? How long have I been here? A yawn left his lips this time, his throat and mouth as dry as a desert.
“Well look who finally decided to wake up?” HR’s eyes met Cisco’s, who stood with a tablet in hand. “How’s sleeping beauty feeling?”
The Wells doppelganger cleared his throat. “Like I’ve gotten assaulted by an Amtrack bus, and not the good kinds.” HR’s baby blue eyes scanned the room, landing on the flower vase that was set on a table near him. Blue forget-me-knots and pink hydrangeas stood proudly in their vases, nurtured well. HR felt his heart swell, his eyes not daring to leave the delicate petals that accented the med bay in better tones. Cisco handed him a cup of water to which HR downed it immediately.
“Amtrack does trains.”
“Not on my Earth, Francisco.” The author couldn’t help but ask, his eyes lingering on the flowers once more. “Did Tracy bring those?”
Cisco pursed his lips, an odd look present on his face. He wanted to tell HR, but… “No. Um, she didn’t.” Tracy had been visiting, though it had become some sort of a nuisance to all her complaining at this point. She hadn’t even known HR for that long, anyway.
“Oh?” His shoulders dropped subtly in disappointment. “They’re beautiful, I was just wondering and…”
“Let’s just say, a special someone’s been… dropping by and bringing a new flower each day. That’s all you’re getting from me, Aurora.” Cisco reasoned with the Wells doppelganger. The mechanical genius knew, but it wasn’t his place to say. It killed him, but… “I wouldn’t move around too much, if I were you. You’ve got a fractured shoulder and that chest wound. I’ve been told to relay the message that you’re to be on strict bed rest until that shoulder further heals.” HR lowered his gaze to see the cross-body sling. He clenched his slinged hand and unclenched it to bring some feeling into the limb.
“What about my chest?”
“Miraculously, that’s been healing really well since day one.” Cisco kept the talk real, showing the injured doppelganger the schematics and pictures. “You got lucky that it missed your heart by a centimeter.” A stab wound like that should have… I wonder if she knows that I know.
HR blinked at the seriousness in his injury, the looming idea of death from his decision. “How long was I out?”
“A week and a half.”
“What?” HR’s eyes widened in disbelief. “I-”
“HR!” Tracy’s sudden voice pierced the room, stunning Cisco and triggering an ache in HR’s head. The grad scientists shuffled over to him, both forgetting that Cisco was in the room. “HR, my love, how are you? Are you feeling okay? Is there any pain?” He continued checking his friend’s vitals and adjusting dosages to the IV and morphine administered – as per your request. The room was growing ever louder with HR and Tracy. Tracy embraced him, minding his injuries as she continued to fuss over him. It made the Wells writer smile, yet… his heart didn’t swell as much as it used to.
Odd.
Cisco sent you a quick text while the two were preoccupied, but you were already at the Labs. You stopped just outside the entrance, the wall and dimly light hallway obscuring you from who remained in the med bay. They wouldn’t be able to see you from where you stood. A shaky breath left you as you clutched the Freesia flower in hand. Your heart shriveled in your chest as you backtracked. Hearing his voice is enough. After all, with Tracy around you couldn’t be near him – those dirty and hateful looks she’d send you. Best to keep my distance, I guess. You couldn’t help but sneak a peek at him though, the man who had unknowingly captured your heart and would never reciprocate your love. You pushed down the lump in your throat. Hastily, you sent Cisco a text to check on the flowers. Silently, you trailed away from the med bay and to the upper levels of STAR Labs. I wonder if he liked the flowers. Standing at such altitude with the wind blowing lightly had calmed you a bit. Looking down at the flower, you gripped it tightly before you began to pick off the petals one by one. The little moments you had with the goofy novelist surfaced to the forefront of your mind with each petal you held. Your little curious escapades. The little talks. The nights you’d visit him when Tracy wasn’t around.
“He loves me, he loves me not,” You murmured, a stray tear trickled down your cheek. The freesia symbolizes unconditional love and honor. “He loves me, he loves me not,” Your voice cracked as more tears fell. “He loves me, he loves me not…”
***
A frown presented itself on HR’s lips as he tilted his head to crack his neck. The crack relieved him tremendously. It didn’t make sense. The novelist mused to himself, setting aside the current chapter draft he was working on. The voice I heard was… different. It didn’t sound like Tracy’s. HR couldn’t get that voice out of his mind – the tenderness that was laced in the tone of that voice. Nothing like the slight shrill in Tracy’s. He eyed the flowers once more that day, their presence was prominent. If Tracy hadn’t brought those, then who had?
The team had helped situate HR in his room in order to vacate the med bay should another imminent event occur. He had overheard Cisco tell Wally that you were preoccupied with something in Star City – a bit of disappointment twinged inside him. HR had taken up doing bits of physical therapy for the rest of his body without moving his shoulder as much. His shoulder and arm remained in a crossbody sling. The flowers sat on his bedside counter; he tended to them as best as he could with the limited movement he had. Tracy protested that they don’t need to be around, but the novelist was vehement on keeping the plants. HR won’t deny the fact that he had gotten annoyed several times with her around when he needed thinking space for his writing. He couldn’t write with noise and nonsensical chatter, especially if it’s mainly coming from someone who doesn’t want to really listen to his input. She’d go on and on about her scientific research and such, but wouldn’t hear a word from HR regarding his writing. The longer the novelist was confined to his room for rest, the more he had time to think – to contemplate. Yes, he liked Tracy, but… it just seemed that she didn’t really see HR. She does all the talking; she doesn’t really ask about how I feel about things or ask me about my life, even things about Earth-19… It’s like she doesn’t see me for anything other than a pretty face. It’s not even my face that Tracy sees, just Randolph’s. Was I too quick to jump at the first person who showed interest in me? Had I rushed into ‘forever’ with her?
He tabled those thoughts for now. HR reached for his laptop; one hand opened it to start it up. While the device loaded, he grabbed his black-clear glasses and set them on his face. If anyone saw him as such, they wouldn’t be able to tell the physical difference between him and his handsome, yet grumpy doppelganger. Except for the eyebrow scar, but that was obscured by the glasses. HR did a couple of searches with a concentrated look. Surely, it was the person with that… angel-like voice.
“Hydrangeas,” HR whispered as his eyes skimmed over the text that had popped up. “The hydrangea represents gratitude, grace and beauty. It also radiates abundance because of the lavish number of flowers and the generous round shape. Its colors symbolize love, harmony and peace.” The Wells doppelganger scrolled further. “Pink hydrangeas symbolize heartfelt emotions.” Interesting. HR continued his research, glancing at the other flower type that resting in the vase. “Forget-me-nots symbolize true love and respect. When you give someone these tiny blooms, it represents a promise that you will always remember them and will keep them in your thoughts. They are also considered a symbol of fidelity and faithfulness.” A particular link caught his eye, he clicked on it. The novelist read to himself the text once more, “Based on Christian lore, the story about forget-me-nots is that God was walking in the Garden of Eden. He saw a blue flower and asked it its name. The flower was a shy flower and whispered that he had forgotten his name. God renamed the flower as forget-me-not saying that He will not forget the flower.”
HR swallowed thickly; contrary to popular belief around here, he wasn’t stupid. Sure, he wasn’t a science-based genius, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t an expert on other aspects of life and had basic common sense. The author was emotionally intelligent and intact with the world around him. These flowers weren’t picked out on accident. But who would do that? Who doesn’t want me to forget about them? The dark-haired man shook his head slightly as he shut his laptop. A surge of sadness welled inside him at the notion of ‘being forgotten’. Who had he done that to? He’d get to the bottom of this mystery in due time. Right now, I need to jog my memory on what I was writing. A hand found a rough draft paper, his eyes scanned over the words he had typed out. His brows creased as the written notes he’d made on the paper as well. (Y/N) … I had… What had I been writing about again? The novelist read each line, each note he had made no drafts and scratch paper.
The hairs at the back of his neck stood up as realization hit him the more he had read on. The drafts, the notes, all of it – the little novel he had been writing regarding his adventures. But this particular part of his story – the ‘angel’ in his story. The one who stuck by him since coming here, the one who had given him a safe space… And the one he hadn’t seen since waking up. How could he forget? HR lowered the paper; his eyes became half-lidded as guilt shot through him. Before Barry had gone to the future and gotten hints of Tracy with her Speed Bazooka, HR had been working on his book. A book that he had pushed off to stick with Tracy and help in any way that he can to make the speed weapon possible. He had gotten distracted from doing the things he loves. A few conjectures arose in his mind as he slipped his glasses off, one arm end pressed to his lips. His heart hammered into his chest; you were among the last faces he had seen before passing out that night.
The irony. How could I forget that (Y/N) was the ‘angel’ in my story?
***
“Look at you, up and at ‘em.” Cisco strolled into the lounge with a cheeky grin. The mechanical genius didn’t take HR for granted anymore, not with the stunt he pulled. No, Cisco willingly checked up on him – not just for you, but for himself. HR had truly become one of his close friends in the end, especially with all the advice about Gypsy. “What are you cooking up this time?”
“Just an omelet with a side of bacon and toast, Francisco,” HR turned to the mechanical engineer who continued to tinker away at the schematics to get Barry out of the Speedforce. He offered Cisco some with a gesture only for the scientist to politely decline. “I haven’t seen (Y/N) anywhere. Um, is she also…?”
“Oh, you know how she’s like. Either up in the vents or chilling in her birds’ nest on the roof. And on that note, our resident hummingbird has become quite the firecracker.”
HR raised an eyebrow at his friend. “How so?”
“She punched Savitar square in the face then decked him multiple times over when Barry brought him in. Harry had to be the one to pull her away – well, more like carry her away kicking and screaming bloody murder at him. It sounded badass; wish I had been there to see it.”
The Wells doppelganger gritted his teeth at the mental image of Harry carrying you – touching you. The thought ruffled his feathers for some reason. HR expertly masked his irritation, turning the stove off and assembling the food on his plate. “Why?”
“Because he hurt you, HR.”
“…”
“He almost killed you.” And that was unforgivable, especially to her. “We almost lost you. She almost lost you.”
A rough sigh escaped HR as Cisco had sent him a knowing look before exiting the STAR Labs lounge. The Earth-19 man chewed on the inside of his cheek. Only a fool would misunderstand Cisco’s subtle intentions. HR knew what he had to do – he’d been reflecting on his time here, thinking about the people around him, about the relationships he’s formed. The novelist glanced outside – the sun shined, the birds chirped, and the trees rustled with the wind.
And the world continues to move on.
***
“When are you going to tell him?”
“…” You tensed at the abrupt voice. You snapped your head up, eyes darting to find Cisco approaching you with pocketed hands in his gray-black jacket. He wore a Bulbasaur shirt. The clouds surged by with the intensity of the breeze. Your hair blew over your shoulders slightly. Tilting your head, you turned back to watch the city. Days had passed and you refused to see HR, content on what Cisco had been telling you. He’d been recovering tremendously well, but… you didn’t really want to hear about what he and Tracy were up to. It wounded you. “Tell who, what?”
“You know exactly who I’m talking about, Ms. I’m-going-to-put-my-feelings-in-a-box.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Ohohohoho, no. I am tired of the love eyes, the lingering gazes, the pining. It ends.” Your best friend came to sit down next to you with that frustrated look on his face. “I know you have powers.” Your heart stopped in your chest at his accusation. “I know you used your powers to heal HR.” You bit down on your lip, not wanting to validate his statement. Cisco saw “I analyzed the wounds, looked at his healing at a microscopic level. I’m not Caitlin, but even I can pick up a few things. His cells were excelled to heal, but there were residues of your genetic markers at the wound point. You stitched his wounds together, cell-by-cell. My point is: why didn’t you say anything? Your powers are a-”
“-A curse.”
“What?”
“They’re a curse.” You threw a hard look at Cisco, making sure your hands wouldn’t touch him. “I can’t be playing God, Cisco. And… it’s unpredictable, volatile. I could either heal the life in my hands or take it away. I could rip someone ‘cell-by-cell’, Cisco. There’s no ‘in between’, not this time. He got lucky with my powers. He got lucky I didn’t make things 100% irreversible.”
“But why didn’t you say anything?” Cisco eyed the gloves you wore; it wasn’t the season for leather gloves.
“Because I didn’t want to give anyone false hope.”
“You don’t want to give yourself false hope, you mean.”
“…I can’t even heal a plant, Cisco. No matter how hard I tried, it wilted further. It’s a curse.”
“That’s not guaranteed every time, you know. It takes practice – discipline to get your powers to work with you instead of for you.” He nudged your shoulder with his, turning his gaze to the flock of birds drifting through the wind. “You know, he broke up with Tracy.”
“Ok?”
“Happened a week ago. She didn’t take it well and let me tell you. Tracy Brand was livid – the rage and yelling were off the charts. I think she has Harry beat. I knew it wasn’t going to last anyway, it was too superficial to begin with.”
“Uh huh.” You tried to sound uninterested, but deep down you were relieved. You heard a little ring in your ear. You wondered…
“She’s gone, won’t be coming here anymore.
“Ok.”
“So, go make your move.”
You turned abruptly to face him. “Cisco, have you thought that maybe HR doesn’t want to dive into a relationship right away? That… maybe he needs space to focus on himself?” All were things you had contemplated for yourself before.
“And what better way to do that than with a new roommate.”
“Excuse me?”
“Surprise, you’re getting a temporary roommate while we fully fix up things around the labs. I volunteered you since you have the space and the patience to deal with HR.” Your blood froze in your veins.
“Francisco Ramon, I am going to-”
“-Thank me, you’re going to thank me.” He had already breached away before you had the chance to strangle him. Heat rushed to your cheeks at the idea of HR living with you, even if it was a temporary living arrangement. You scolded your heart for beating loudly in your chest. One hand gripped tightly to your other. An audible sigh escaped you as your mind played with the idea.
Shit, what am I going to do?
***Day 1***
Cisco blew out an exhausted breath, setting down another box on top of a box in the guest room. You and the mechanical genius had been breaching back and forth with HR’s things as said novelist was crippled. His arm would take about another four weeks to heal. About 20 percent of shoulder fractures are displaced and may require some type of manipulation to restore normal anatomy. Occasionally the rotator cuff muscles are injured or torn at the same time as the fracture. Fortunately for HR, his rotator cuff muscles weren’t as damaged. This can further complicate the treatment. Therefore, in that time, HR would just be handling the lighter stuff, bless his heart. The novelist entered the room with his black backpack slung over his functioning shoulder – it was the last thing that he could carry.
“I think there’s one more box left,” HR pointed with his thumb towards his back direction, the breach closing behind him.
“I’ll go get it, not a problem. Why don’t you two get started on unpacking, huh?” HR shrugged with one shoulder and stepped away to set his bag down by the bed. Cisco threw a cheeky look your way when HR had his back turned, his eyebrows wiggling. ‘Have fun love birds,’ the scientist had mouthed at you. You flicked him off with a deadpanned look. Instantly you dropped it when the Wells doppelganger turned as Cisco snickered before he breached away. He gave you a confused look, but you waved it off.
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For allowing me to stay obviously. And for all the help since I’m, well, a bit tangled up at the moment.”
He was referring to the cross-body sling that clung onto him like a spider. HR rubbed the back of his neck, and you didn’t miss the way his bicep flexed at the motion in that gray short-sleeve shirt. Calm the fuck down, it’s just a toned muscle. You’ve seen things like that before. The puppy-like smile HR sent you had your cheeks warming up. The gentle smile that made your heart melt all over again. You cleared your throat as you reached for a box. “It’s no big deal, HR.” Undoing the tape seal with scissors, you opened the box- and the first thing you see are a pair of handcuffs accompanied by a silky black blindfold.
“What’s in the box?”
A little noise left you as you shut the flaps of the box, trying to seal it again. The flaps remained downward in the box. “Nope, nothing. Just some clothes here. I’m going to get that one box from the living room.” You had backtracked right into the door, your nose throbbed in response at the collision. “Ow,” you muttered to yourself, rubbing the skin.
“You ok?”
“I’m fine,” your response was quick, but not rude. A deep chuckle made its way to your ears as you scrambled out the room, your heart hammering in your chest. Your thoughts scolded you for being so awkward and flustered around him. Be cool, just chill out… The man you’re hopelessly in love with is just living with you temporarily, it’s not like anything will amount from this. You picked up the last box in the living room, hoping that just clothes would be in here and not anymore kink toys. I mean… I have toys, too. AW SHIT, I HAVE TO HIDE THEM!
HR’s eyes never left you as you made your panicked exit. He let out a little breath before shuffling over to the box you had been attending to. Immediately, he face-palmed hard when he had opened it with one hand. His face felt impossibly hot at what you had seen. She must think I’m an idiot or something. His mind thought back to when you helped him shop for some new clothes then it had gotten ruined from a meta. His hand fell away from his face, the image of your kind grin imprinted in his mind. I am an idiot, though. A fool.
Once Cisco returned, you three continued unpacking HR’s things for the time he’d spend here. The labs were still in ‘piss-poor’ shape according to Cisco and that he’ll need to consult with Harry and Wally regarding repairs.
“HR, how are you showering?”
“Um, like a normal person?” A dumbfounded look crossed HR’s features as he set the plate of sandwiches down. The novelist had knitted his eyebrows at Cisco. He had taken up to experimenting in the kitchen when he wasn’t writing. The tea and coffee were still brewing in your kitchen.
“No, I mean with how your shoulder is injured,” Cisco snuck an evil look at you, you returned it with a glare, “must be hard handling it alone.” You knew exactly where this dumbass wanted to take this conversation, so you stayed silent as to not get caught in the crossfire.
HR thought to himself for a moment. “Just a bit, but I’ve gotten used to the mild discomforts and pain. I can mostly reach everything thanks to my long limbs. But I think the nice thing is that it’s an internal issue, not an external one. An external injury or wound would require me to really have help with showering that way the area doesn’t get infected or irritated with the contents of soaps.” A laugh fell from his lips, but his mind wondered what his friend was playing at while you were around.
“I’m just saying, if you ever need a hand well,” Cisco trailed off with a smirk, chomping on his third sandwich.
Oh, I see. Devious, but a futile effort. “I’ll make sure you’re the first one I ask for help,” HR teased with a smirk of his own for Cisco to drop his in disgust. A cough escaped you, which had HR’s eyes land on you. Your eyes met for a moment before you deviated your gaze. HR felt hypnotized for a moment. Hm… The engineer quickly recovered from HR’s snide remark.
“Alright kids, I’ll be going now. The labs require some diligent work that I, a capable and distinguished engineer, could only do.”
“Yet, we still have the occasional security issues,” You sipped your tea once the snarky comment was out. HR stifled a chuckle, but you heard it. The corners of your mouth lifted slightly at the notion.
“Hey, that’s not fair. They always come up with something new to invade our space by.” Cisco pointed a finger at you, mocking a hurtful expression on his face. It dropped into a sneaky smile. “Make good choices and always use protection, you two!” He breached away before you could throw your cup at him.
***Multiple Days Pass***
Through his time here, you noticed HR fueled to write what’s on his mind in the guest room. You could only assume that he continued his adventure story. Sometimes he would venture out for some coffee or take a walk to give his creativity a break. Keeping that in mind, you gave HR the space he needed as well as all noises to a minimum. You knew he liked the quiet atmosphere to pour his heart and soul into words as he did research for a scene. Pulling your jacket on, you compiled a list of groceries before you stepped out of your apartment. Locking the door, you headed out to the store picking up a few necessities as well as some snacks for HR. Like Harry, the novelist can easily lose himself in his task – which meant that he tended to forget about eating and such. You found a bag of Jitters coffee beans, adding it to your cart of items. Buying some snacks and fruit, you’d leave a note in the kitchen of the snacks when he emerged from his writing cave.
On the way back, you stopped by at Iris’ studio to check up on her. A few groceries for her as well were in hand. Cecile and you did your best to visit Iris. But you can’t deny that you blamed her to a certain extent. Had she spoken up once she had left Savitar’s place disguised as HR, HR wouldn’t have been hurt that night on Infantino Street. Surely, she could have contacted her father or Cisco or something. The transition could have been smoother. HR wouldn’t have been… The journalist was faring; she pushed through the pain and as Barry had told her ‘to keep living’. So, Iris did. She hadn’t been herself since Barry went into the Speedforce – she pushed too much, the smile wouldn’t reach her eyes sometimes. You sympathized; she lost the love of her life. But you almost had too.
“How are you?”
“I’m fine, just… taking it one day at a time.” You nodded at her response, a small smile on your face. “How are things with you and HR? I heard of the temporary living conditions.”
“It’s fine.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. I’m in my bubble and he’s in his doing his writing.”
“Right. Nothing going on whatsoever?”
“Iris.”
Iris set her cup of hot chocolate down and raised both hands in mock defeat. “We all saw it. We all see it.”
“See what?”
“How smitten you are for him.”
“I’m not-”
“-Don’t say you’re not. If you weren’t you, Harry wouldn’t have to pry you off Savitar before you clawed his eyes out.”
“…” You just looked into your tea, the honey that settled at the bottom. Iris placed a sympathetic hand on your shoulder, but you didn’t look at her.
“The heart will want what it wants, (Y/N). Pushing your feelings into a box and denying it out loud won’t change things.”
“I know.”
And my heart wants him, over and over again. Even if he can’t see me.
***
HR tapped his pencil against the desk at a steady pace. His mind wouldn’t focus on the words in front of him, on the scene he wanted to set. Instead, it kept drifting further from it. Further towards you: your eyes, your smile, the kindness that you held; the serenity that your existence held as the world continued to turn and chaos had unfolded at each turn. HR didn’t see much of you while he was here, the novelist missed your company. You were here, but you weren’t really here. You were either in your room or at the balcony with a book or on the couch with your Switch. He didn’t want to bother you, but… sometimes HR just wanted to sit beside you and pull you close to talk. To hold you in his arms and ask you about your day, to understand what you were thinking. HR cracked his back in a stretch from where he sat on his bed, being mindful of his injured shoulder. It didn’t hurt as it had originally done a few weeks back. The Wells doppelganger noticed that you were careful to avoid touching him or him touching you. Not even a hug that you used to graciously give him. You were especially guarded with your hands. A rough sigh left him as he threw his pencil down. The frustration was setting in, he was getting nowhere. You consumed his thoughts. HR wondered if you were revolted by him but doesn’t verbalize his thoughts to you. He didn’t think you’d give him your truthful answer. Maybe she is revolted by me. She did find the cuffs and the blindfold… No, she knew about the cuff stage thing well before that.
The sound of the front door greeted his ears followed by the soft tune of music. A frown made its way onto his face. Might as well take a break. HR stretched once more when he fully stood up, a little noise of relief left his lips. He cracked his back once more before smelling himself. For safe measure, the novelist sprayed a bit of cologne on himself and turned off the candle he had on. He mentally noted to take a shower after dinner since his last was yesterday. He liked the feeling of being clean, to be honest. HR carded a hand through his hair. I need a haircut soon, too. Yeesh, I feel like I’m letting myself go. Once I’m all healed it’s back to proper cuts and the labs’ recreation room. He wanted to go back to lifting weights and doing yoga for body stability purposes – especially now because of his shoulder. HR rested a hand on his chest, the wound had healed completely, but a scar remained. Upon entering the kitchen, he saw the groceries on the table and heard you whisper along with the lyrics. The music was set to a low level that your whispers were audible enough. He watched you sway a bit with the tune.
So please don't break my heart
Don't tear me apart
I know how it starts
Trust me I've been broken before
Don't break me again
I am delicate
Please don't break my heart
Trust me I've been broken before
The guitar tune pulled at his heart, feeling the raw emotion behind the lyrics. He eyed you for a moment. HR cleared his throat to make his presence known, he knew you didn’t like to be snuck up on. However, a little gasp left you from where you were. “You went out shopping?”
You looked up from where you crouched to put away the cereal. “Uh yeah, we were running low on some stuff.” You shut the cabinet and went to the other items you had bought. The music continued to delicately play.
“Need any help?”
“Um, sure. Uh, just set these into the cabinet on the left.” Normal, be normal. He’s not going to eat you or anything. Distance is good. Distance keeps you safe. You didn’t meet his eyes, the eyes that’d pull you in and never let you out – your heart shook with him here and the song that played. You were hoping HR wouldn’t come out while you prepped dinner to have a sort of peace of mind. The next song played before you could stop it-
My last made me feel like I would never try again
But when I saw you, I felt something I never felt
Come closer, I'll give you all my love
If you treat me right, baby, I'll give you everything
“I like this song,” HR started as he was finishing up with putting his side of the groceries away. Another guitar-like song that brought out the soft feelings of love and rejection. HR mused to himself if fate had planned this out. If this was some sort of sign or a cruel joke… You had stopped yourself from clicking the button to skip the song at his comment. You don’t know what possessed you to let him indulge in another song that you’ve cried to late at night. “Hey, I can cook dinner tonight. I have something I’ve been wanting to try. I’m not that crippled so I can manage with a few cookware.” HR chuckled to himself, a goofy grin on his face. Your heart leapt in your chest; his grin caused a small smile to pull at your lips. “You can wash up first?”
You swallowed thickly, your eyes meeting his icy blues. You felt your cheeks warm up slightly as the nerves crawled up your spine. “Oh, ok. Cool, yeah. Can’t wait to see what you cook up.” You nodded, ducking your head away and shuffling out of the kitchen with that shy smile on your face. You missed the longing look he had sent you as you fastened your steps to head to your room.
God I love that smile. What goes on in that little head of yours? We used to be so close… before Tracy came into the picture. HR pulled out the spices and the chicken breast. He shook his head and proceeded to prep the food with his one useful hand. I need to consult Francisco.
***
“We need to talk,” HR’s voice broke the silence in the side lab of the Cortex. He had breached to the labs using the Breach Extrapolator after he had showered and such. His damp hair was pushed back in HR’s normal style.
“About what?” Cisco raised a concerned eyebrow at the writer, stopping what he had been doing.
“(Y/N).”
A nervous laugh left Cisco as he went back to attempting to make the necessary modifications to the Speed Bazooka. Tracy was reluctant to help the mechanical engineer after the breakup. “What about (Y/N)?” Cisco put down his screwdriver. “Did you do something weird to her?”
“What? No! I- we used to be closer. We always talked, we’d hang out after a long day here at the labs.”
“Uh huh.”
“And, maybe it’s just me, but things have changed.”
“How so?” Cisco was wondering what conclusion HR was leading himself to.
“Things changed when Tracy came into the picture.”
Cisco made a little ‘o’ with his mouth with a little nod before closing it. He pushed a rough sigh past his lips, he was getting really tired of this puppy love game. “Why do you think that?”
“Francisco, she flinches when I get close – almost when I touch her… Does she hate me?”
“I think you and I know the answer to that one. But I think the real question should be: Why do you care so much? Why does it bother you? Do you love her, HR?”
The novelist tensed a bit. “…” HR pursed his lips as Cisco walked around the table that the speed weapon was mounted on. Blueprints were scattered on one table while the glass board held variables and equations he could not decipher. “What?”
“I said what I said,” the mechanical genius smoothly responded. One look at HR and Cisco knew that he was baffled by his forward words. But they needed to be said. “Now run along and use that head of yours to think about what your heart wants. Barry isn’t going to get himself out of the Speedforce.”
***
Cisco’s words mulled through HR’s mind as he breached back to your apartment’s living room. Only the lamp light on the side table was on. HR’s eyes landed on you, who laid on the couch with the book you had been reading on the back ledge of the couch. The novelist took off his shoes and set down his bag. He had detoured to the bookstore, looking for the next installment of your current book. The Wells doppelganger had assumed you didn’t buy it yet as it was vacant from your bookshelf. The gentle giant stepped silently closer to you; the dim light cast over you like a glow. There were slight bags under your eyes. She hasn’t been sleeping well lately. Spotting a large and fluffy blanket near, HR grabs it and lays it on top of you. He remembered you mentioned to him prior that you easily get cold, especially at night. Chewing on the inside of his cheek, HR contemplated something before his body moved impulsively. The novelist placed a gentle kiss on your forehead; his lips lingered for a few more seconds. Pulling back, HR watched your chest rise and fall. He turned the light off and stumbled over to his room with his phone light guiding him. He knew what he was going to write. Cisco’s question pestered him enough though.
Do you love her, HR?
HR took one look out his door before shutting it, his heart squeezed tightly in his chest as he whispered, “Goodnight, my angel.” Only the shadows that lingered were a witness to the fondness laced in those simple words.
***
You woke up with a start, you hand instantly smacking right into your chest. Heavy breaths left you as your nerves were in overdrive. Cold sweat beaded your skin as you gasp for air. It was another night terror – the same one for a few weeks now; a new way in which you caused HR’s death. Swallowing thickly, you screw your eyes tightly shut and whisper the mantra that calmed you down. After a few minutes, you started to regain control of your breathing – the thoughts that ravaged your mind finally ceased like the tides subsiding after a tsunami. You blinked languidly, hating nights like these. They weren’t rare, but they weren’t an uncommon occurrence. Deciding that you needed to step out for some air, you did so with the intent of getting a glass of water from the kitchen. Your fingers found the lights for the dimmers in your room, setting it to its lowest setting for you to see yourself out.
Cracking the door open, you were instantly met with the scene of HR passed out on the couch again. He’s been doing that for around two weeks now, the couch his new base of operations. His mouth was slightly open as little snores escaped him. A lovestruck smile crossed your features at the sight. Papers were littered around him, on the ground, and on the tables. Must be the manuscript he’s working on for his final draft. I hope I can read it at some point. Coming back from the kitchen with the water in hand you couldn’t help but stop to admire the sight. You noticed the glasses still perched on his face. Moving as silent as a ninja, you inched closer to pull off the glasses from his face. They’ll break if he keeps them on while he sleeps. Then he won’t see for shit when reading things. You nibbled on your bottom lip as your eyes drifted to the papers. One peek won’t hurt anyone. What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
Seating yourself on the ground, you leaned your back against the foundation of the couch. You were opposite to where HR’s upper body was. If there were any telltale signs of him waking, you’d hightail out before he could fully wake up and process what you were doing. Picking up a small stack, you started sifting through them. Your mind became engrossed with the words – the beginnings of the story he had spun about his adventures as to how he came to Earth-1. Then… mentions of an angel eluded you. It couldn’t be Tracy, could it? I know they broke up, but… on the other hand, it doesn’t mean that he can’t say that she was his angel at the time. Like a character development thing leading to their break up?? Well fuck, I don’t even think he’d mention such a personal thing in his book. I know I wouldn’t… would I? I don’t know. A little smile danced at your lips while you read on about the synonymous things regarding Team Flash that you failed to notice HR rouse from sleep.
“Do you like it?” Lethargy intertwined his words. A stunned noise left you as you clutched the papers. You turned to see HR rubbing his eyes before gazing at you.
I could get lost in those eyes if I stared too long.
“Uh, yeah, its- it’s really good,” you stuttered, setting the papers down in your lap. Embarrassment of getting caught gripped you. “Sorry.”
“Don’t be. I don’t mind you taking a peek. I don’t have anything to be ashamed of in it.” HR shifted his lithe body to sit next to you on the ground.
“Oh.”
“Couldn’t sleep?”
“No.”
“Want to talk about it?”
“It’s not that important, I’ll be ok.”
“If you say so,” HR’s shoulders sagged slightly. “I’m here if you want to talk.” You nodded at him, whispering a little thank you. HR ran a hand over his knee, he took a glimpse at you who stared at the papers. He noticed what chapter you hand been reading – the angel was making an appearance in the story. The hair at the back of his neck stood while you thumbed the words on the paper back in forth, just lost in your mind. Your hair was messy from sleep, the bags under your eyes were still there. It killed him how you wouldn’t confide in him anymore. But he didn’t push you. You would open up to him if you wanted to or not, even if he wanted you to do so as so his mind can be at ease with knowing what’s going on with you. Cisco’s question sprang up in his mind once more before he licked his lips, his eyes watching you. “I do.”
You gave HR a strange look. I do, what?
“Tracy wasn’t her.” Realization struck HR the more you whispered with him.
“Huh??”
“I heard this voice before I woke up.” The novelist fully turned to you with intense eyes, the enlightenment in them – the fire that burned brightly. “The tenderness in it could rival any tasteful delight in the multiverse.”
“A voice?”
“Mm, it made me think that only a heavenly deity would have such a voice.” You remained silent as he spoke. “I never got to hear that voice since my coma… until now?”
You tensed at what he was insinuating. “Now?”
“How could I forget?”
“I-I don’t understand.”
“How could I forget about you?” The baritone huskiness in his voice made you melt with the way he said those words. You swallowed, trying to calm the butterflies that raged in the pit of your stomach. “The flowers that were left – beautiful, delicate, yet meaningful. You left those after visiting me.”
“…”
She didn’t deny it. “But you never visited when I was awake because of Tracy.”
“She hates me.”
“And I was too blind to see that until I broke up with her, she threw quite a fit.
“I’m sorry.”
“Why are you sorry?”
“Because you must have loved her so much that it would be hard to let go.” She was your angel, after all.
“She didn’t even know me. Truly know me.”
“… Did she hurt you?”
“Slightly, but the bruise is gone.” You and he were silent for a moment. Only the sound of a distant car horn was heard from the streets. “You didn’t deny it.”
“Deny what?”
“The flowers, the visit…” HR licked his lips as a rough breath left him. His nerves were climbing, but he needed to do this. “Cisco told me what you did to Savitar when you saw him. How angry you were that Harry had to pry you off him – I was so angry.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t know then… but I know now.”
“And?”
“Tracy was never the one written in my story – she didn’t care. She didn’t see me for anything other than a pretty face obsessed with coffee. You did.” HR tucked your hair behind your ear, carefully gauging your reaction. He saw how you tried not to flinch away from him. “Do you hate me?” He asked as he retracted a hand from you, happy that he was at least getting through to you.
“Never could I feel such a way towards you.” You hesitated for a moment before testing the waters. You started to explain, “I- the night you were stabbed by Savitar I… I just broke. I pushed Tracy away, I had Barry rush you back to the labs. You were dying, unconscious on the gurney and… I got to work trying to resuscitate you. I had Cisco take care of Tracy while I worked, I needed space to think clearly, but I couldn’t. When- when the others were preoccupied with Iris’ appearance, I used these powers.” It was now or never. “I was desperate. Your life was hanging by a thread- I didn’t think it was going to work, but nothing else was working. You were bleeding so much. But I had to try. I…” Your glassy eyes locked back on his, your hands pulled close to your body. HR understood now why you never tried touching him. Why you are avoiding getting too close. “Cisco found out, he confronted me. But these powers, life isn’t guaranteed. They’re volatile, unprecedented – regardless of how I feel in the moment the balance can tip between giving a life and taking one.” There was a tightness in your chest as your voice cracked, “I’m cursed, I could hurt you.” I’m dangerous.
“I don’t think you will.”
“You don’t know that!”
“But I do,” HR reached a hand out to hold yours. Tension filled your heart as panic started to settle. “You wouldn’t let yourself hurt me. It would pain you too much.” HR squeezed your slightly shaky hand, his other hand still bound by the cross-sling. “My life is in your hands.”
“How can you trust me so much?”
“Because love cannot be built without a foundation of trust.” He placed a sweet kiss on the knuckles of your hand. “And understanding.” He took the other and kissed it, baby blue eyes shifted back to yours with such intense emotion. The adoration that filled the author to the brim for you. Just for you. Only you. The one who saw him for everything and anything that he is. His safe space – the one other thing he wanted to be for you as well. He wanted to eliminate any fears that resided in your heart, the pain and doubt that remained.
“Do you hate me?”
HR cupped your cheek tenderly as he leaned close, your heart wanted to stop as blood rushed to your cheeks and ears. Your half-lidded eyes shut slowly as his lips skimmed over your own. “Never in my life, angel,” the novelist whispered as he captured your lips in a tender and sentimental kiss.
Never in my life could I hate the one who my heart has yearned for.

Stolen Moments
Part 2
Summary: What happens if a pirate is saved by a mermaid and their lives become entangled?
A few seagulls - far too out from their coastline home - squawked overhead as they nearly blended in with the puffy clouds lazily gliding on the air. You inhaled deeply letting your senses be drowned in the saltiness. In an odd way it always comforted you. The sea was your home. Everything, every fine detail, lifted your spirits like the many blues that enveloped you when you sailed this far. The soft gentlest blues from above, and the deepest darkest blues that held many horribly wonderful secrets from below. Secrets you wished to uncover. Secrets many would not believe.
Your puffy white shirt was tucked into your high waist pants. Your long iconic coat – colored like the blue hidden depths of the sea and adorned with silver trims and black buttons – billowed in the wind. A trusty sword was strapped at your side with its hilt worn down by the salty air. At one time it shone the brightest bronze. Other daggers were hidden on your person, like in your boots. Anyone with a mind would look at you and think pirate.
And they would be right.
Expect, they would quickly note your lack of jewelry, your lack of accessories. All pirates loved to show off their treasures. Rings shoved onto almost every single finger, earrings lining their ears, necklaces made of pure gold or silver, or tiny gems and metallic clasps strewn within their hair. You, on the other hand, wore only a necklace. A simple leather cord with a plain ring looped through it. One may think it was a wedding band, but you weren’t married. Or quite possibly the marrying type.
“Captain.”
You peered over your shoulder to see your first mate, Sonny. “Yes?”
“We believe we are approaching the location. About another ten more knots by the look of it.”
You looked ahead seeing five jagged rocks protruding out of the ocean. Like a gigantic hand breaking from the surface reaching up to the endless sky. You nodded, “Good, keep us on track.”
“Yes, sir.”
A smile tugged on your lips. I’m so close. Years of digging through scraps of research, years of trying to find leads and failing multiple times, I’ve finally found it.
However, directly below the surface something lurked. It had sharp webbed claws, gills located at the ribcage, and a massive green tail. A dark green similar to a forest of seaweed. Half man, half fish. It looked above seeing the belly of the ship pass over. With a flick of its tail, it swam to the surface. It winced at the burning sun before setting its gaze on the ship.
“Captain.”
The creature glanced up, but was unable to see a single person. Words were muffled from the crashing waves against the ship. It didn’t need to listen. It didn’t care. All it saw was the back of a human leaning against the railings. In a split second, it knew that person had to be the captain. The aura of confidence and power the man radiated, who else would it be?
The creature now had its target. Taking a deep breath, it opened its mouth and sang.
Happiness filled you. Complete overjoy, ecstatic, fulfillment, all of it coursed through you. Your journey was coming to a successful end. Which meant –
A low melodic voice called out to you. You flinched and instantly tried to cover your ears. You knew of the songs, knew of those demonic creatures. But, it was too late. The trap was laid and you fell into it. You dropped your hands as your eyes glossed over. Your crew ran around the deck desperate to find the source while blocking out the song. But, it didn’t want them. It wanted you.
Wordlessly, you stepped up onto the railing. Your coat whipped in the wind. Your thoughts and your will washed away. Replaced by its will. You wanted to follow the voice, to please them in any way possible.
Sonny gasped as he saw you teeter on the ledge. He sprinted over to help you, to pull you back over and snap you out of it. He was unfortunately too slow. His fingers brushed against your coat as you took the plunge into the deep waters below.
The freezing temperate jolted you from the spell. You instinctively gasped letting water flooded in. Shutting your mouth, you centered yourself and focused. You’ve been through more sticky situations than you can count. This one was no different. You quickly realized everything weighed you down from your coat, to the clothes on your back, to your sword and the daggers stuffed into your boots and waistband. It all dragged you down to the unknown depths below. You quickly shucked off your coat then tried to swim to the surface.
But, it came for you.
A flash of a tail sent fear trickling down your spine. No … I’ve come so close. I won’t die because of one damn mermaid.
The mermaid – or merman to be more accurate – swam in front of you. His claws dug into your forearm making you scream out in pain. Making you lose more precious air. Darkness crept into the corners of your vision.
The merman’s grip loosened. She’s … she’s the captain, he thought in bewilderment. He peered up faintly spotting the crew looking overboard for their captain.
I’m not dying here. I won’t. You pushed back the merman, but it didn’t work. His grip was stronger. And you were growing weak with every passing second. You couldn’t hold your breath any longer. No … please … not … not like this. You stared directly into the eyes of a killer and begged. “Please,” you mouthed.
The merman flinched. He has seen multiple people drown, caused a few himself, but never had someone struck him like this. He was so saddened by the pleading gaze in your eyes. So … guilty. He glanced back up to the ship, to the crew, then back to you. You closed your eyes as your head lulled back. The last of your air bubbled up.
Not debating for another second, he hauled you up to the surface. You coughed up water and collapsed completely unconscious. Your head rested against his shoulder. Your life now in his hands. And oddly enough, he wanted to save you. Save this killer. However, he also wanted to protect his own life. He simply couldn’t hand you back over to your crew. His head would be mounted on a wall if he did that. So, instead he swam. Swam with you in his arms to the nearest port. It was miles and miles away, yet he never stopped. Never slowed down. As land peered over the horizon, so did a cozy port. It jutted out from the coastline bustling with ships and shops. A place to trade and gather supplies. The perfect place to wondering travelers.
He swam a mile away from port, away from those who harbored unfavorable opinions against mermen. With one arm, he pulled himself out of the water while he continue to hold onto you. He delicately laid you in the warm sand. He was thankfully to see your chest rise and fall. Then, he quickly spotted something else. In the setting sun, something glimmered, sparkled. His fingers carefully picked up the plain neck admiring the tiny ring looped through it. Strange symbols, he recognized as the human language, were carved on the inside. He set the necklace back down against your chest. He allowed his fingers to trace over your features. He brushed back your wet hair and surprisingly his heart skipped a little.
She’s beautiful, he thought.
His eyes fell down to the sword still attached at your waist. A sword that may – most likely he thought – have killed merpeople. His people. He sighed. Was this wrong? Did I do the right thing, he wondered.
His eyes met your calm face. Your lips parted as you inhaled and exhaled rhythmically.
I don’t regret this. I won’t, he thought.
A fuzzy feeling bloomed in his chest. And like all merpeople when overcome by emotions, he opened his mouth and sang. Lowly. Softly. Like a lullaby. He stroked your cheek watching as your eyes moved behind your eyelids.
A soothing hypnotic song floated in your ears. You hummed and cracked open your eyes. A blurry face hovered over you. The soothing singing faded away. Yet, the last note lingered in the air. Lingered in your head. The indistinguishable face left from view replaced with the dimming sun. A splash rang in your ears. Blinking more, you raised yourself up and scanned the area.
Where … where am I?
You spotted a port off in the distance. Is - Is that Sea Field Port? You left that port roughly a day ago, all to find that allusive treasure. How did I get back here?
Your eyes slide back over searching out to the never ending sea. Memories flooded back. A merman. A merman who lured you overboard. In which that same merman saved you? No, impossible. There had to be another explanation. Merpeople don’t save lives. They are ruthless creature of the deep who love to toy with their prey. However, your mind couldn’t find another reason as to how you went from in the middle of the ocean on a day’s journey to the coast within a few hours.
You picked yourself and wobbled slightly on your feet. Luckily, the one thing you only lost was your coat. Your hands flew up touching your necklace and sighed in relief. If I lost this I wouldn’t forgive myself. You shuffled slowly towards the port hoping your crew was safe. A small part – the more pirate part of you – hoped they retrieved the treasure, but it was quickly snuffed with the thought of seeing them all alive and healthy. They were part of your family. Your chaotic, rambunctious family.
A day later, your ship docked into the port. Sitting on the dock – where you sat nearly all night – you greeted your crew who were elated to see your face again. They apologized for not getting the treasure, but you didn’t care. They also expressed their utter confusion as to how exactly you were alive.
“I don’t know,” you shook your head. “But, it doesn’t matter. I’m here and that’s all we need to know. And as long as you all are safe that’s all that matters to me. We can try to get the treasure some other time. For now, I think we deserve a break.”
The crew cheered then headed to the nearest tavern to unwind.
“You comin’, Captain?” Sonny asked.
“Later. I’m going to take a walk. I need some space to think.”
“Okay, see you then.”
“You will, and you better save me a drink,” you winked.
“Will do, Captain,” Sonny chuckled.
You started walking along the beach. You shivered a little at the coastal breeze. Without your coat, the air nipped more at your skin. At least I still have my life … for now. You kicked aside the sand as you made your way down. No one else was on the beach. It wasn’t that time of the year to go swimming, the water was far too cold. As you could recall yesterday. But, you could enjoy the scenery any time of the year. The sea was built into your bones. You loved sailing, loved the beach, and especially loved the secrets that the ocean could tell you.
The port shrank behind you, but you weren’t ready to return yet. Your mind couldn’t comprehend what transpired yesterday. And the lack of sleep did not help. The tavern owner offered you the same room from before you sailed off, but you couldn’t lay down long enough to sleep. Eventually, you wondered back to the docks to wait hopefully that your crew and ship would return. You dozed off a bit settled uncomfortably between cargo boxes.
“I just don’t get it,” you mumbled to yourself. “Merpeople don’t save people – humans. Especially pirates. They drown people for just the fun of it.”
You huffed running your fingers through your hair. It was no use. You were never going to get answers. Or so you thought.
Singing surrounded you. A familiar singing, a familiar hypnotic lull, coming from behind a boulder up ahead. Sneaking up, you peered into the tiny cove finding a merman laying on a rock basking in the sun. His arms propped behind his head with his eyes closed. Your eyes scanned over his features from his dark slicked back hair, to his pink lips pouring out music, to his sculpted arms, to toned stomach, down to his green tail.
Your eyes widen. It’s him. His face now crystal clear in your memories.
Rage flared inside of you. Before you could help it, you shouted, “You!”
The merman stopped singing. He lifted himself as his head snapped over to you. “You,” he mumbled in surprise.
Without thinking, you charged after him. He couldn’t move fast enough. He wasn’t in his element. You straddled his waist and pulled out a dagger hidden in your boot. You pressed it against his neck and hissed out, “You tried to kill me.”
The merman gulped, “Uh, um … yes, but I did save you in the end.”
“But you tried to kill me first.”
“I – I’m truly sorry.” He slowly rose a hand and pushed back the dagger from his throat. “I was only doing what I was told.”
You glared. Your knuckles white as you forced the dagger back against his throat.
The merman winced realizing his mistake. “Sorry, I – I didn’t mean it like that. That object … our treasure is highly guarded. No one is allowed to go near it. It’s our duty to protect it.”
“So, you’re a guard?”
“Sometimes.” He paused then decided to explain further. “Once every other month, I am. Every merperson has to do it, and it’s a high honor to do so.”
Against your natural instincts, you slid your dagger back into your boot. A million different emotions ran though you. First thankful, thankful this merman didn’t actually kill you. Next anger, anger that now more obstacles laid in your path. Then it settled on determination, fierce determination to not let anyone or anything get in your way of that treasure.
You hopped off the merman. Instead of walking away – like you should – you plopped down into the sand pressing your back against the rock. “I ... I guess I should thank you for not killing me,” you said.
You may be a pirate, but you had some morals.
The merman flipped onto his side staring at the back of your head. “You’re welcome … and, uh, thanks for not killing me either.”
You huffed through your nose. “Well, I guess we’re even now.” I think.
The merman ignored your comment. “Um … I’m HR.”
You peered over your shoulder to the merman, “HR?”
“Yup,” he smiled easily.
You nodded. “I would say it’s nice to meet you, but given how we actually first met it’s kind of difficult to say that.”
He winced. “Uh, yeah … again I’m really sorry. I – I had to protect it.”
You waved him off. “I get it. You were doing your duty, I probably would have done the same blah, blah, blah. The name’s (Y/N) by the way. Captain (Y/N).”
“(Y/N).” He tried your name on his tongue. It sounded like a song. A short sweet melody.
You should leave, if your crew caught you with him they would skin him alive. They would think you were nuts, possibly inhaled too much salty water to think straight, and you would have to agree. But you never had the opportunity to sit down and talk with a merman. And would you ever get a chance like this again? Probably not. “So, do you always lay out in the open like this?” you asked.
He blushed slightly. “Yeah … I’m not really supposed to, but the sun feels nice.”
“Suppose I can’t argue with that.”
He smiled at you. Dimples carved into his handsome face. A warmth spread over your chest. You quickly pushed it down and shook your head mumbling, “This is weird.”
“What is?” He cocked his head.
“You’re a merman. And I’m a pirate, hell a captain. I should kill you.”
“Why?”
“Well, your little friends have killed some of my crew,” you stated harsher than you expected.
HR frowned. “And your friends have killed my people too.”
And the circle will never end.
You sighed whispering, “I know … it’s just odd to be sitting here when everything is telling me to kill you. I know it wasn’t you specifically who killed my crew, but I want to avenge them in some way. To show them their death wasn’t meaningless to me.”
“I … I get it,” he whispered. HR thought back to his friends who lost their lives to pirates or random humans. The cruelty of humans never seemed to end. From wanting trophy pieces of merpeople, wanting to prove they could kill a nearly untouchable creature, and wanting to avenge those they lost to the sea. He understood completely. But, he continued to have hope that not all humans were bad. And so far, you were proving his point.
You looked at him. His eyes mimicked a pile of aquamarine jewels. The lightest blue that sparkled in the light at every angle. You quickly glanced away as your face grew a bit warm.
“Can … can I ask you something?” he asked. A question that plagued his mind since laying his eyes upon you.
“I don’t see why not.” You replied.
“Do you even know what the treasure is?”
You rested your head against the rock gazing upwards. “Well after tons of research the legend says it’s an object that can grant a person a single wish.”
“It’s a shell. A shark eye shell.”
You blinked up at him. “Huh. Some people said it was a shell, some said it was a bottle, hell one person thought it was a mermaid, but most speculated it was some mystical object. I guess a shell would make sense.”
“Our stories say it was a shell from Poseidon. A gift to the merpeople. We call it Poseidon’s Heart.” I wonder if she knows the whole truth. Should I tell her, he thought.
“Poseidon, himself? Damn, no wonder you guard it. And no wonder it’s been lost to the ages, all the gods died off eons ago.”
You twisted your body and faced the ocean with HR on the rock beside you. HR noticed how you began to fiddle with your necklace. The image of the symbols written inside resurfaced. “What’s that?” He pointed to the ring hooked on the leather cord. He wanted to shift the conversation away from the mystical shell even for a brief moment. And to satisfy some of his curiosity.
You peered down then back up at him. “A ring. Jewelry.”
He hummed. “What’s it for?”
“This ring was my father’s ring. His wedding band to my mother. One of a matching pair.”
“Oh.” He tilted his head. “Where’s the other one?”
“My sister has it.”
“Oh, how nice … wait, what happened to your parents?” His eyebrows knitted together.
“Died. Years ago.” Your response short, not wanting to give anymore details. At least not to this stranger.
“I’m – I’m sorry to hear that.”
You peered up at him confused. He seems truly genuine, but why? “… thanks.”
Poseidon, I should tell her, he thought. He sighed running a hand through his hair. “I want to tell you something.”
“What?” You cocked an eyebrow.
HR inched closer to unveil a secret. “Poseidon’s heart. Yes, we guard it from intruders, but sometimes we have to protect it from our own. The shell may grant you a wish, but it comes at a cost. A cost that some cannot pay.”
“I don’t care about the cost,” you quickly replied. You had your suspicions, but now they were confirmed. Everything had a cost, you knew that. Some adventures, some treasures, that price came from the loss of some of your crew. And other things like your innocence.
HR leaned back in shock. “What? Why?”
“That’s none of your business,” you curtly said.
“Oh then I guess I won’t help you,” he muttered more to himself.
Help … me? He’s lying. He wouldn’t help me. He just met me. You rolled your eyes. “Please, I can do it by myself. I don’t need your help.”
“And nearly drown again? It’s guarded at all times of the day. With at least five or more there.”
You huffed glaring slightly at this merman. “Then I guess it’s a risk worth taking.”
“Why do you want it so badly?”
You abruptly shot up. HR thought you were leaving. He almost reached out to stop you, but realized you were simply pacing back and forth. You tugged on your necklace and brought the ring up to your lips. HR could only watch. He couldn’t move to stop you. The most he could do was to sit himself up. Swinging his tail around, he faced you.
“I – I’m sorry if I offended you. I’m just curious,” he said dejected.
You halted staring at him. At one glance, you wanted to cheer him up when seeing his hunched posture and long face. Fuck me, fuck this lunatic of a merman. “No, you didn’t. It’s just that ... nevermind. I should just go. My crew is probably worried about me.”
You turned to leave when HR called out to you, “Wait!”
You stopped, but didn’t dare turn around. You knew if you looked at him, you would be roped back in. All merpeople were the epitome of beauty. Everything was designed to lure you in. And this man was no expectation.
He swallowed an unknown lump that wedged itself in his throat. “Will … will you come back tomorrow?”
“What?” Knowing better, you still glanced over your shoulder.
HR’s eyes locked with yours pulling you in. He repeated himself, “Can I see you again? Tomorrow. Here. At the same time.”
“I … I’ll see.” You walked away.
Damnit, I should know better. I can’t come back here tomorrow.
HR frowned a bit, but he quickly replaced it with a dazzling smile. He hoped he would see you again. He prayed to Poseidon he would. There was something about you that sparked his curiosity and interests. You somehow - in the short time span of knowing you - lit up his typically murky world.

Back Flash
Eobard X Reader
Word count - 341
You had long forgotten the feeling of being whisked away at super speed. You took notice of the yellow color of the speedster's suit, and your heart skipped a beat. Then you thought, no, it was Wally. The Reverse Flash was dead. Erased from the timeline. It took a second for you to process that you had stopped running, and you almost fell over. Wow, you were disoriented. "Oh, gee I wonder why" you scolded yourself out loud. Long ago, you had discovered that talking to yourself after stopping helped anchor yourself. It didn't work this time, as you felt yourself tipping over. Strong hands grabbed your arms, and steadied you. You closed your eyes. "Y/N." said the speedster. The voice was all too familiar. Slowly, you opened your eyes. "No." You swallowed. His hand's were still gripping your arms, keeping you steady. "Y/N, it's me." He removed his hands from you, and slid his mask off. "No." You felt a lump form in your throat, and you ripped away from him. You could barely process what was happening. "How?" you asked. "What?" He looked confused. "How are you here? Eobard Thawne, what are you doing here?" If anything, he looked hurt. "What do you mean? I always visit you." With that it hit you. He was a time traveler. The damn speedforce preserved a time remnant of him. This was him before he was erased. You calmed down. You just had to stay with him until he goes back to his time. Whenever that was. "Never mind. I was just-I-I guess it's just been a while for me." He reached and griped your chin, looking you strait in the eye "Y/N, don't lie to me." "I'm not." You say, trying not to tremble under his familiar touch. "I wouldn't lie to you, Eobard." He leaned forward, and whispered in you ear "I hope for your sake, that is true." With that you pulled away from him. He smoothed his blond hair back, and your jaw clenched. God you hated him.

October Drabble Challenge - Day 10
A/N: I know I missed yesterday, I was snowed under with work. I didn’t want to get behind though, so I’ve done this one and I’ll come back to 9 when I have more time :)
Pairing: HR Wells x Reader
Prompt: “Dude, check out my sweater!” (I altered it slightly)
“Hey, hey, BA, check out my sweater!” HR said excitedly as he saw the speedster entered the Cortex, practically bouncing in his excitement to show everyone his newest item of festive clothing. You were sat opposite the doorway, able to see everything that happened in the room from your little workstation.
“Um… It’s nice, HR…” Barry said a little hesitantly as he tried to back away from the exuberant author. You watched the bright smile on HR’s face flickered slightly with Barry’s dismissal of his excitement and it made your heart ache a little for him.
The sweater was sweet; all striped with alternating autumnal orange, nutmeg and white bands, with little pumpkins patterns knitted into every other stripe. It wasn’t something that everyone could pull off, but HR could. It was so uniquely him and you adored it.
You wanted to give him a compliment or help keep his spirits up in any way you could, but you always lost your words when you tried to talk to, or even talk around, HR, who you were wholeheartedly crushing on. So, you remained silent, just watching as he instead bounded over to Cisco’s desk with renewed enthusiasm to use on his second target.
“Francisco, you like it, don’t you?” HR said, standing tall next to Cisco, who looked at him like he’d come from another planet.
“Sure, HR, very fetching,” Cisco said, turning back to his screen with disinterest and HR’s shoulders fell with his dejection. It hurt you to see him look so upset.
You looked from Cisco to Barry to HR, who was now looking at the floor, waiting to see if one of them would rectify the situation, but nothing happened.
So, you did something very unexpected.
“Well, I love it!” you said, standing up suddenly and speaking louder than you’d intended, surprising even yourself. All eyes in the room turned to you before you saw Barry and Cisco exchange a look that said ‘wow, she’s actually talking in front of him!?’
“You do, (Y/N)?” HR asked quietly, taking a couple of slow steps forwards so that you had to tilt your head in order to meet his eyes.
“Mmhm,” you said, nodding vigorously as you fell silent again, thanks to his close proximity. But it was when his lips turned up in a bright and cheerful smile once more that you thought your heart might burst out of your chest.
And if that wasn’t enough, HR then took one of your hands in his and brought it up to his lips, placing the softest kiss to the back of it. You might have stopped breathing then.
“Why, thank you, ma cherie.”

HR Wells x Reader
You were sitting in your lab, trying to figure out a way to save Iris. It was about midnight, and you had been there all day; locking your door so no one would see you scared. You had never been one to break down over things. You were always the one who calmed everyone down, and who they went to when they needed someone.
Right now, you were the one who needed someone. Honestly, you were horrified. Iris is your best friend, practically your sister.
Putting your head in your hands, you sighed, your breath coming out shakily. Just when you decided you needed to leave, there was a knock on your door. You slowly unlocked, and opened it. There stood the man whom you had fallen in love with: HR Wells. His drumsticks were surprisingly in his pocket, and that bright smile was still etched across his face.
“Hey (y/n), I didn’t see you leave, so I thought I would come check on you.” He said quickly, with his usual happy toned voice. You smiled at the thought of him noticing that your goodbye had been absent. And you blushed at the thought of him wanting to come check on you. “Oh, well thanks for checking on me… i-uh- I was just about to leave.” You say softly switching off the light, and closing the door behind you.
“I may not be very smart but I can tell when someone I care for is scared.” He says and places a gentle hand on your shoulder. You looked at him and a sad smile formed on your lips. “I’m okay HR, I’m not scared I promise.” Trying our best to convince the enthusiastic author in front of you. “ You don’t have to put up a front with me (y/n). You can talk to me, I’ll listen.” “I couldn’t ask you to do that, we all have enough on our plates…” you said and tried to walk away. Reaching out to you, he grabbed your hand, and pulled you into a sudden, yet much needed embrace. “Please talk to me…” he whispered, as he felt your arms wrapped around him tightly. “Okay….”
He pulls away slightly and smiles down at you. “This calls for coffee!” He announces loudly trying to get you to smile. You laugh softly and smile. “Coffee, at midnight?” You asked giggling at his love for the caffinated drink. “Of course! It’s comfort in a cup!” He says and pulls you down the hallway.
You both had your coffee and were now sitting in the Cortex. “Alright sweetheart, let’s talk.” He said and gave you a reassuring smile. “Well… I’m just, I’m trying so hard to find a way to save Iris, but I-i just can’t. Savitar is going to kill her, and It’s gonna be my fault for not finding a way.. HR, she’s my best friend.. my sister. I can’t lose her.” You say and finally let the tears you’ve been locking up, fall. He looked at you, sadly, and knelt in front of you, placing his hands on your knees and said “it’s not your fault, it’s no one’s fault. We’ll save her, I promise. I’ll do whatever it takes.” Hearing his words you lift your head up and threw your arms around his neck, and his arms wrapped around your waist holding you close. “Thank you HR…” you said pulling away slightly.
You looked down at him softly, slowly starting to lean in. His hand moved from your waist, to gently cradle your face, as yours moved down his chest. Your lips gently brushed his as if asking for permission to continue. To which he responded by pulling you in closer and your lips met, moving together softly. He smiled and pulled away, you looked at him with doe eyes and a bright smile. “ We’ll find a way I promise.” He said and pecked your lips once more. “I love you HR..” His smile grew. “I love you too (y/n).” He said and pulled you in for a last kiss.
Little did you know, that he had a plan, a plan to save Iris. Little did you know, that kiss would be the last time you ever felt your lips on his.

The next morning when you waked up the smell of (f/b) washed towards your nostrils. You yawned and got up from bed, you heard Hr in the kitchen as he made breakfast.
“Morning, love” You said as you kissed his shoulder. Hr. smiled as he served your breakfast.
“Morning, darling” He gave you a peck in the lips as he sat down to eat.
“Hmm…its quite good Hr” You smiled at him.
“Thanks, darling.” He smiled, a bit of blush reddened his cheeks.
“I-I wanted to talk to you…” You struggled with words as your heart tightened. “b-but promise me…promise me you won’t turn your back on me!”
“I won’t.” He held you hand close. “Tell me, darling”
“I-I…. Remember when I told you I liked harry? I-I thought I was over him…” You felt hot, scared tears fall from your eyes. Hr saw this and kissed your hand “A-and I was… I love you…I love you so dam much…I cant lie to you.” Hr frowned “Since Harry came back…he confes-confessed to me…and..and I don’t even know anymore!!” The sobs wreaked your whole body, Hr hugged you and kissed your forehead”
“Shhh…its ok…its ok…I’m not mad….i still love you” Hr kissed your tears as he pulled you in his lap. “I love you...nothing will make me change it..”
As you calmed down in his arms, his kisses traveled to your lips.
“I understand, love…I knew you probably still had feelings for him… I just hoped he wouldn’t try to take you back. But if I have to make you fall in love all over again I will. I love you “ He kissed you lovingly as you hug him, the tears dried in your face as Hr wiped them.
“I love you too” You smiled shyly at him and he smirked.
“My woo tactics worked the first time.” He said.
“Your marriage proposal was cute, but you made me walk around the city for an hour.” You pouted
“But you loved it!” He smirked
“I did, yes.” You kissed his lips softly.
Hr hands caressed your back soothingly while he kissed you when the door was knocked.
“Hr…” You smiled as he trailed his kisses down your neck. “someone is on the door…” you laugh turned into a moan as he nipped your sweet spot.”c’monn hr…”
“Fine…” He pecked your lips one last time and let you go open the door.
“Heyyy, (y/n) my gurl!!” Cisco said as he, Barry and Harry where at your door.
“Hey (n/n)” smiled Barry.
“Hello” Harry said before glaring at Hr over your shoulder, he glared back at him. His glaring contest was interrupted by Barry smacking Harry’s shoulder.
“-Right Harry?” Barry smiled.
“huh? right.” Harry said, distraught.
“Oh, that’s great! I hope you have a good time then! I’ll go see my family again.” You walked to Hr and kissed him softly, he smiled and kissed back. Harry’s fist clenched until his knuckles turned white.
“I cant wait until you introduce us” Barry smiled
“ya…cant wait…” You smiled.
“See you later darling!” Hr bid you goodbye as he leaved the house with the boys.
///*\\\
As the boys came inside the tailor shop, a man came to them.
“Hello! Welcome to Keystone tailor! Who is the groom?” The man smiled.
“I am” smiled Hr.
“ Come with me then! We got the best suits in the city!”
The boys followed the man who guided them to a changing room.
“Any color in specific?”
“hm…Black…or maybe grey.”
“Tch.” Harry growled.
“something the matter, Harry?” Asked Barry.
“no.” Harry sat in one of the chairs as the man came with a few suits.
“Tie or bowtie?”
“hm…I’ll try both. In (f/c) please!” Hr smiled at the man who nodded.
He quickly came back with the bowties and ties and led Hr to the changing room. The boys sit down in the chairs and waited for him.
A few minutes later Hr came with a grey suit and a (f/c) bowtie. Cisco face scrunched and Barry frowned a little.
“You look perfect” Harry smirked.
“That’s hideous” Cisco said as the man glared at him.” I mean on him, t-the suit it’s really beautiful! Great work!”
“Grey doesn’t suit you.” Barry said as Hr frowned.
“Oh..” Hr frowned as he looked at himself. “I’ll try the black one…”
“Wait we saw the perfect one!!” Barry and Cisco ran off the room with the man following behind.
“…” Harry and Hr glared at each other.
“(y/n) told me everything. You’re an asshole” Hr glared.
“Oh, I’m so hurt!!!” said Harry, sarcastic. “She loved me first”
“You leaved her behind!”
“She didn’t want to come!”
“You never told her how you felt!” Hr growled.
“You took advantage of looking like me!”
“You’re wrong, she loves me for who I am!”
“A carbon copy but less intelligent, of me?” Harry smirked at Hr angry face.
“At least she let me make love to her. She trust me, she loves me. I healed the big bleeding hole you leaved in her heart! I, with love, care and patience was able to heal her, to show her I’m better than any of the other Wells. I showed her trust and respect! I trust her judgement!, I trust her! I LOVE HER!!” As Hr said that Harry face turned red with fury.
“YOU DON’T-” Harry was about to scream when..
“HEYY WE’RE BACK!!” Cisco and Barry entered the room with a deep almost black suit.
“Here! Try this on!” Barry gave him the suit and Hr went to try it on.
“He doesn’t deserve her.” Harry seethed.
“Much less do you.” Barry whispered.
“what did you-“
“THIS ONE IS PERFECT!” Hr came out with the suit, smiling widely.
“oooh, fancy.” Cisco said.
“Im sure (y/n) will love it!” Barry smiled as Hr’s cheeks flushed as he bit his lip.

You were sitting with Lisa and Len in their hideout.
“You told him?” Lisa asked
“Yes.”
“And he took it well?” Lisa asked as she started brushing your hair.
“Do I have to kill him?” Asked Len nonchalant.
“No, and yes, he took it well. He understood…he said he will fight for me, he will woo me again...” You smiled softly while playing with your ring.
“Good, if not I’ll freeze his ass.”
“ He trusts me to follow my heart…My feeling…I need to clarify them. I don’t want to hurt them more.”
“It’ll be the best…” Lisa kissed your hair.
“ I knew you should have hook up with Mick. At least he wouldn’t take you away from us!”
“Lenny! Stop it!” You pouted. “I don’t like Mick like that!”
“okay, okay snowflake. I didn’t say a thing” He kissed your cheek.
“Are you staying the nigh, lil sis?” Lisa got up from behind you.
“No, after dinner I’ll go home. Hr must be back then.”
“Aw, lil sis We miss you.”
“I know, I’ll come back soon, I promise!”

In a world of Meta-humans, soulmates aren’t the craziest thing. Everyone has their soulmate’s name written on their wrist and mine said Barry Allen. I fell in love with the name Barry, I could only hope my soulmate liked mine just as much. Before the particle accelerator exploded I had a normal life, but once it sent the dark matter into the air I gained the power to create illusions. When I first realized it scared me. Lucky for me the Flash had rescued me from myself. Someone had attacked me on my way home and before I even realized I had created illusions of strong men to scare the guy off. However, I couldn’t stop it even after he ran off. I sat on the cold floor cowering in fear of something I never realized I made. The Flash ran in and slid to a stop. He looked around and started trying to fight the men, but found he couldn’t actually hit them.
“What the…” I heard him say and then he looked at me. He kneeled down and placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Hey, you’re alright. They’re not real.” He said and I looked into his blue eyes, and suddenly I felt safe. All the men disappeared and The Flash looked around confused.
“Guys, I think we have a new meta.” He said and I looked at him confused.
“Right, we’re on our way.” He said and stood up, offering me his hand.
“Come with me, me and my team can help you with your powers.” He said.
“But I don’t have any powers.” I said, still confused.
“I believe you do.” He said, but I shook my head.
“What’s your name?” He asked.
“Y/N.” I answered and he smiled.
“Well Y/N, I believe you have powers and we can help you with them.” He said.
“Trust me, and if I’m wrong I’ll take you home.” He said and I sighed.
“Alright…” I said, taking his hand. Within seconds we were at S.T.A.R. Labs. There were a few others there were four other people in the room, which I assumed were team Flash.
“This is the girl that triggered the Meta alarm?” A guy with long black hair asked.
“Yep.” Flash answered.
“I’m sorry, but there’s no way it could be me, I don’t have any powers.” I said.
“In denial, interesting.” A man that looked exactly like Harrison Wells said and my eyes widened.
“Y-You’re Harrison Wells! B-But you’re dead!” I said getting freaked out. Suddenly creepy looking shadows filled the room and I backed against the wall in fear.
“W-What’s happening?” I asked, scared out of my mind.
“Hey Y/N, calm down. They’re not real, you’re making them.” The Flash said and I shook my head with my eyes glued shut.
“N-No! Impossible!” I said. I felt someone gently grab my shoulders and I looked up to see The Flash, except his mask was off.
“Hey, just look at me okay? You’re okay, the shadows aren’t real.” He said and I once again felt safe. The shadows disappeared and I took a deep breath.
“Whoa.” A girl with dark brown hair said.
“That was awesome!” The guy with long hair shouted.
“I-I have powers?” I asked and The Flash nodded.
“We’ll help you learn your way around them. I’d like to do some tests so we can figure out exactly what you can do.” A light brown hair girl said.
“I think introductions are in order first. I’m H.R. Wells, Earth 19’s Harrison Wells.” The man that looked just like Harrison Wells, but more hipster like said.
“I’m Cisco Ramon.” The long-haired guy said.
“I’m Iris West.” The girl with dark brown hair said.
“I’m Dr. Caitlin Snow.” The girl with light brown hair said.
“And my name is Barry Allen.” The Flash said and my eyes widened.
“W-What?” I asked and he looked at me with furrowed brows.
“My name, it’s Barry Allen.” He said again and my heart skipped a beat.
“Oh My God, it’s you!” I said and hugged him. Everyone in the room was confused and Barry gently pulled me off him.
“I’m sorry?” He asked, still lost. I pulled up my sleeve and showed him that written on my wrist was Barry Allen. He looked at it confused then at Iris.
“Um… I’m sorry Y/N, but I already have a soulmate.” He said and I furrowed my brow. He lifted his sleeve and showed me his wrist said Iris West.
“B-But this says you're my soulmate?” I asked confused.
“I’m really sorry Y/N but it must be someone else with the same name.” He said and I frowned.
“Come with me Y/N, let’s get some tests done.” Caitlin said and pulled me along with her. How could the world be wrong? Barry Allen is my soulmate, then why did he have someone else’s name on his wrist?
Once team flash helped me control my power they asked me to join them. I agreed, but it was rocky at first. I was very awkward around Barry and Iris for a long time, but learned how to deal with my pain and sadness. Now that I was part of the team I was notified when a baddie was around town. This time it was another speedster who called himself Savitar. His goal was to kill Iris, but we didn’t know why. Barry and the team decided that I would be a powerful asset in his defeat. Once I learned my powers I learned that I can make my illusions feel so real to other people. We all knew when and where Savitar was supposed to kill Iris, now it was up to me to save Barry’s soulmate. Everyday up until the event I would practice making my Iris illusion as real as possible, spending a lot of time with her. It hurt me to spend time with her, but I didn’t have a choice if I wanted to see Barry happy. When I finally thought I perfected my illusion of Iris, it was time to test it. Barry was in the lab alone and I knew no one else was here. I took a deep breath and focused on creating Iris. I sent my illusion into the room and focused on replicating Iris’s voice.
“Barry?” Illusion Iris asked. Barry turned around and furrowed his brow.
“Iris? I thought you weren’t here?” He asked.
“I know I’m not supposed to be here, but I just needed to see you” Iris answered.
“You know I won’t let anything happen to you, the team won’t let anything happen to you.” He said, gently holding her hands.
“I know, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about it.” Iris said and Barry sighed. He brought Iris into his arms and held her tight.
“How did things go with Y/N?” He asked and I knew now was the time to show him.
“I think it went pretty well.” I said as I walked out from around the corner.
“Y/N?” He asked and I took a deep breath. Iris disappeared and Barry looked at me confused.
“T-That wasn’t Iris?” He asked and I bit my lip, shaking my head.
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to test it. Make sure it was real enough to fool Savitar.” I said, I felt guilty for tricking Barry like that.
“No, it’s okay. I really thought it was Iris.” He said with a smile.
“Are we sure Savitar isn’t going to see this coming? I mean he does have all your memories right?” I asked, worried we were just walking into another trap.
“Savitar has mentioned everyone but you. I don’t think he knows about you.” He answered and I nodded.
“If you’re sure.” I said and went to walk out, but Barry stopped me.
“Hey, are you okay?” He asked and I nodded.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I answered, lying through my teeth.
“I don’t believe you.” He said with a small smile.
“It was just hard spending all that time with Iris.” I said and looked down at my wrist. Barry grabbed my hand and I looked up at him.
“I know and I’m really sorry Y/N. But thank you so much for doing this. Iris is my soulmate and I know you’ll find yours one day.” He said and I faked a smile as best I could.
“I know.” I said.
“I’m gonna go practice more.” I added and left. There were only a few hours left and everything had to be perfect, for Barry’s sake…
After a little while of practicing in the lab I decided I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to go to Earth-2 where Iris was. At least if I was practicing my illusions there and Savitar somehow found her I could protect her. I hopped through the portal and when I got there everyone held weapons my way.
“Whoa! Don’t shoot! It’s just me!” I cried and everyone put their weapons down with a sigh.
“What the hell are you doing here, Y/N?” Joe asked.
“Sorry I should have given a warning. I figured I should be here in case Savitar figures out where Iris is, at least he can take my illusion instead of the real one.” I said and everyone looked at each other.
“Look, I just have a bad feeling and I think it’s better if I’m here.” I said and everyone agreed. So here I was in Harrison Well’s lab, keeping Illusion Iris around.
An hour later an alarm was going off and I broke my concentration. I looked around at everyone, who looked panicked.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“Savitar’s coming.” Harrison answered and my eyes widened.
“What?” Iris asked.
“Now. Joe.” Harrison said walking the opposite way of me.
“Iris, stay behind me.” Joe said, taking out his gun.
“Dad.” Iris said.
“He gets to you through my dead body. Harry, Wally.” Joe said. Everyone was at the ready and I went and hid behind the portal. Savitar came through a moment later and I took a deep breath trying to concentrate.
“I got him.” Wally said and ran at him. Savitar ended up beating him and it was just Joe and Harry left, shooting him. His suit powered down and suddenly a guy that looked just like Barry, but with a burn mark on his face, stood behind Iris.
“Oh God, it’s really true.” Joe said.
“Yes, it is.” Savitar said.
“Aim that gun at me and I’ll kill you.” He added.
“Listen to me. You were my son once. Whatever I did to make you feel this way… I’m sorry. Please Barry.” Joe begged.
“No. That’s not my name.” Savitar said.
“Barry.”
“That’s not my name!” He growled. I knew what I had to do. I’ve never tried this before, but I had to try now. I concentrated all my energy into my power and opened my eyes.
“Please! Stop, okay? I will go with you, just please, do not kill them.” I said as Iris.
“I’m not gonna kill them now. They… need to watch you die first.” He said.
“Baby, no.” Joe said.
“Dad, it’s okay.” I said as Iris.
“Oh look, Joe. She’s accepted her fate. You should too.” He said and suddenly I was being dragged away.
It was an hour later and I was now standing where Iris was to die, except I was Iris. Savitar held me and Barry watched from the grass.
“Flash. This is it. Now the moment is upon us. My ascension to become a God.” Savitar said.
“Not tonight.” Barry said.
“Show me you’re the hero.” He said and pushed me to the ground.
“Let’s see what happens.” Savitar said. This was the moment I could get away and replace myself with an illusion, but I still had to keep Iris safe where she was. This was really going to test me, but I had to do it so everyone could be safe.
“I’m gonna stop you.” Barry said and in a second he returned with the cannon they were working on. He shot at Savitar, but of course Savitar escaped it. I quickly replaced myself with an illusion and kept focus on where I had Iris. I felt myself growing weak from how much I was pushing myself, but I couldn’t stop. Not until this was all over. Barry kept trying to hit Savitar and finally did, but it didn’t work.
“What? What? What? Why didn’t it work?” Barry asked, dropping the cannon.
“I spent an eternity in a trap just like that. You think I didn’t know how to prevent it from happening again? He asked as he held up an orb.
“The Philosopher’s Stone.” Barry said.
“It’s made of calcified Speed Force energy, and you gave it to me.” He said
“No… guys… guys! Joe!” Barry screamed.
“You stuck me with Speed Force for an eternity of hell. Now, welcome to yours.” He said, picking up the illusion Iris.
“No. Don’t do this.” Barry begged.
“Don’t do this!” He begged again.
“Now, finally, I am free of you.” Savitar said, getting ready to stab Iris.
“Barry.” Iris said.
“I’m begging you, just-”
“Barry!” Iris cut him off.
“You lose, Barry.” Savitar said and stabbed Iris through the chest. She fell to the ground and Savitar ran off.
“Iris. Iris. Iris. Iris.” Barry said her name over and over again, then started crying. I knew it was time to end his suffering. I let Iris disappear from his arms and Barry looked around confused.
“W-What?” He asked, confused. I walked out and fell to the floor.
“She’s safe Barry, she’s safe.” I said breathless and Barry ran to my side.
“Y/N? What? How?” He asked.
“It worked Barry… It worked.” I whispered and passed out.
When I woke up everyone was surrounding me. They had smiles on their faces and I sat up. Barry held Iris with the biggest smile.
“Thank you Y/N. Now we need to finish this.” Barry said.
“How did you do it?” Joe asked.
“I was practicing something that was advanced and I wasn’t sure I could do, but turns out I can. I was there when Iris was taken, but I knew if he took an illusion through that portal it would just disappear when he reached the other end, so I became Iris and switched places with her, keeping her in a pocket dimension. Savitar wouldn’t be able to find her, no one but me would know where she was and everyone would be safe. I thought I would die that night, but then Savitar pushed me to the ground and I was able to replace myself with an illusion. It was hard to keep everything going and it was taking every bit of my energy to keep each illusion up, but it paid off.” I said and everyone looked at me with wide eyes.
“You could have gotten yourself killed!” Barry scolded me and I shrugged.
“But you would have your soulmate.” I said and everyone was silent.
“Anyway, Savitar is still around right? We should probably get on that.” I said and got out of bed, heading into the control room before anyone could stop me.
Barry ended up going somewhere and we were all left waiting around. After a while Barry walked in and we all looked his way. Not far behind him was Savitar. You could feel the tension in the room, but my heart skipped a beat. Maybe it was because he looked almost identical to Barry, or maybe it was fear. I honestly couldn’t tell.
“You make a move toward Iris…” Joe started.
“He won’t. Killing Iris… won’t save him now, not anymore.” Barry said.
“Where is Cisco? Where’s Caitlin?” Julian asked, clearly pissed.
“They’re safe.” Barry answered.
“I was asking him.” Julian said, looking at Savitar. Savitar looked around and walked towards me.
“Show me that you can help me. Then I will tell you where your friends are.” He said.
“You tell us now, or you go up in smoke.” Joe said.
“This is bloody insanity. What is he doing here? He’s a monster.” Julian said. I walked closer to him, I felt a strange connection that I just couldn’t explain.
“Hey! Stop! Guys, it’s okay.” Barry said, quieting everyone.
“Y/N, stay away from him.” Wally said, clearly still scared of him. Savitar couldn’t face me and I was confused.
“Look at me.” I whispered.
“Please.” I whispered and he looked at me slowly. I gently placed my hand on his burnt cheek and felt a tingling on my wrist. He closed his eyes and mine slightly widened.
“We’re gonna help you, I promise.” I said and took my hand away from his face. He looked at me sadly, then over at Barry, then back at me.
“Thank you.” He whispered and I nodded with a small smile.
“Right. Well, since our guest here has both of our resident scientists hostage, what temporal problem can we help you with?” Julian asked.
“Tracy built the Speed Force trap. Maybe she has an idea.” Wally suggested.
“Tracy’s our best bet.” Barry said.
“Am I?” Tracy asked from the doorway.
“Because last I checked, it didn’t work.” She said and walked off.
“I shouldn’t have come here.” Savitar said and I looked up at him and shook my head.
“No, she just needs someone to convince her.” I said.
“I think we know someone who could get through to her.” Iris said with a small smile. Everyone left except for me and Savitar.
“Y/N? Are you coming?” Barry asked, peeking his head in after a moment.
“I’m going to stay with him.” I said and pulled my eyes away from Savitar to look at Barry. I could tell he was worried, but I gave him a reassuring smile.
“I’ll be fine.” I said and he nodded, leaving to follow the others. Savitar walked silently into the medical lab and I followed.
“It’s strange being back here.” he said after a moment of looking around.
“You remember S.T.A.R Labs?” I asked curiously.
“I remember everything.” He said.
“This is where we came up with the cerebral inhibitor to use against DeVoe.” He said and I looked at him confused.
“Who’s that?” I asked.
“You guys haven’t gotten there yet.” He said.
“So you remember me?” I asked and he nodded.
“I remember you, Y/N.” He said and the way he said my name just made my heart flutter.
“Then why didn’t you see me using my powers to save Iris?” I asked and he sighed.
“Your powers.” He answered and I furrowed my brow.
“You don’t know?” He asked and I shook my head.
“Know what?” I asked and he chuckled.
“You’re not there yet either.” He said and I was more confused.
“Y/N, you learn that you can manipulate memories. I guess you do it without knowing how yet.” He said and my eyes widened.
“I can do that?” I asked and he nodded. He walked up to me and gently touched my cheek. I felt the tingling on my wrist again and wondered if he felt the same.
“I missed you so much.” He whispered and I just stared at him.
“I wish this wasn’t how we met, but I’m so happy to have you back.” He said.
“W-What do you mean?” I whispered, not trusting myself to speak any louder. I was honestly scared that this was just another illusion I didn’t know I was making.
“I may not go by Barry Allen anymore, but, unfortunately, that is still my name.” He said and my eyes widened.
“You mean?” I asked and he smiled. He pulled his hand away and revealed his wrist to me. It said Y/N Y/L/N on it and I gasped, looking up into his eyes.
“You’re my soulmate?” I whispered and he smiled.
“That’s exactly the same reaction you had when we first met.” He chuckled. I threw my arms around his neck and placed my lips on his. I couldn’t help myself, I’ve been looking for my soulmate my whole life and thought the world had made a mistake.
“That’s also what you did when you found out.” He chuckled when we pulled apart.
“I thought the world made a mistake.” I whispered.
“They didn’t, Barry just didn’t create me yet.” He said and I looked at him confused.
“You said everyone gave up on you… Did I?” I asked while biting my lip.
“No, you were the only one.” He said, gently caressing my cheek.
“Then what happened to make you want to kill Iris?” I asked and he gulped, pulling away from me.
“There was a fire. I wasn’t fast enough to save you… Barry wasn’t fast enough to save you… I was alone and I knew the only way I could have you back in my arms is if I became a God of speed.” He said and I heard his voice break a bit. It explains the scar.
“Are we interrupting something?” Barry asked and I looked to see him and Iris standing near the door.
“No, so how’s this gonna work? Where will I live?” Savitar asked, acting completely fine.
“What do you mean?” Barry asked, confused.
“Are Wally and I gonna be bunkmates? Am I supposed to just rejoin Team Flash, fight some Rogues? What kind of life were you thinking I’d lead?” He asked.
“I-I hadn’t gotten that far yet.” Barry stammered.
“How do we explain me at the wedding? And do I sit bride-side or groom-side?” He asked, seeming lighter.
“Ah, look, I mean, we don’t have all the answers. You know, we’re gonna figure it out. Together.” Barry answered and I smiled at Savitar.
“No. Not together. You’re gonna spend the rest of your life with them, but I remember asking you to marry me. And I remember you dying.” He said to me and my eyes widened.
“I can’t do this.” He said and went to leave.
“Hey, yes you can, okay? I will be here for you and we can get to know each other all over again.” I said with a smile.
“I wasn’t fast enough.” He said and I took a deep breath.
“We can fix that when the time comes, but right now we need to focus on you. Where are Cisco and Caitlin?” I asked. He looked at Barry and Iris, then back at me.
“I’ll bring them home.” He said then smiled. He ran off and suddenly an alarm went off.
“What is it?” Iris asked as we all walked into the control room.
“There’s energy radiating from the breach room.” Harry answered.
“And it’s not breach energy.” H.R. said.
“It’s the Philosopher’s Stone. It’s releasing all it’s energy.” Julian said.
“Savitar.” Barry said.
“It looks like it’s gonna blow.” Joe said.
“Wally. Get everybody out.” Barry said and suddenly we were all on the street. Energy exploded from the lab and we all looked on with wide eyes.
Barry took us to his and Iris’s apartment and Cisco came in fighting with his soulmate.
“Guys?” Iris said and he looked over at us.
“Oh my God! I thought something happened to you guys. Two-Face told me you guys were dead.” Cisco said.
“We’re okay…” Barry said and everyone smiled at him.
“Gypsy…” Barry said when she walked down the steps.
“Gypsy.” Cisco repeated.
“Guys.” Gypsy said.
“Gypsy.” Julian greeted.
“Harry.” Cisco looked over.
“Here to help.” He answered.
“Good.” Cisco responded.
“I know what he’s up to.” Cisco said and sat everyone down to explain Savitar’s plan. Barry was going to go to the place and I knew I needed to go too.
“I’m coming with you.” I said and everyone looked at me.
“No way Y/N, it’s too dangerous.” Barry said and I shook my head.
“I wasn’t asking. Either you take me there or I’ll just use a pocket dimension to travel there.” I said, crossing my arms.
“Pocket dimension? You can do that? She can do that?” Cisco asked.
“Apparently she can.” Julian said and Barry sighed.
“Why do you want to go?” He asked and I bit my lip.
“Because, he’s my soulmate.” I answered and everyone’s eyes widened.
“Maybe we can use that against him!” Julian said and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“I’m not going to help any of you destroy my soulmate! Barry, please…” I begged and he sighed.
“How are we going to stop him from becoming a God then?” He asked and I looked at Harry.
“No, Y/N we can’t.” He said and everyone was confused.
“Can’t what?” Iris asked.
“A long time ago I had asked Y/N to help me create a device that theoretically keeps a clone alive. Such as a time paradox. But after two test runs I deemed it too dangerous for both parties involved.” He explained.
“Why were you testing this?” Cisco asked.
“I thought two of me might help me.” Harry shrugged.
“Please Harry, we never tested it on speeders, maybe that will change the outcome!” I said and he shook his head.
“It’s too risky, I’m sorry Y/N.” He said and I sighed.
I knew I shouldn’t use my powers to trick my friends, but I needed to keep my soulmate alive. I wasn’t going to let them take him away from me. When I got there Barry and the team were fighting Killer Frost and Savitar. None of them noticed me, but I watched as Barry pushed Savitar out of his suit. They were fighting and I watched as Barry pulled the blade out and held it in the air over Savitar.
“Barry! No!” I cried and ran in front of Savitar.
“Y/N?” Both Barry’s asked.
“There’s another way for you to live. For us to be together.” I said and pulled out the device Harry and I made.
“Here. Just stay still.” I said and focused my energy, sending a blast into Savitar and he groaned. Savitar fell to the ground and I gently shook him.
“Hey Savitar?” I asked with tears in my eyes.
“Barry?” I whispered and pulled his head into my chest.
“Please don’t leave me…” I begged with tears falling down my face.
“I said the same thing when I found you…” Savitar said and I looked down at him with wide eyes.
“Y-You’re alive…” I whispered with a smile.
“I’m alive. Thanks to you.” He whispered and gently caressed my face. I pulled him in for a kiss and held him tightly.
“I told you all it would work!” I said to everyone when we pulled apart and Savitar chuckled.
“Everyone should know not to doubt you.” He said and I smiled down at him. Now I have my soulmate forever, just like how it’s meant to be.

A Dose of Respite (H.R. Wells x Reader)
Rating: G
Summary: You’ve been overworking yourself lately with coursework and Team Flash duties. H.R. is worried about you and gets you to take a nice break.
A/N: This was a “reward” story for @letyourimaginationrun who is working so hard in her studies and assignments. This goes out to all you hard working students! Keep up the great work and summer break is almost here!
You’d think you were cousins with a beaver with how much you were gnawing on your pencil. There were bite marks all over. It never stood a chance against your anxiety.
Your coursework had grown tenfold in recent weeks. Damn your professors! You were going to work yourself to a fine dust if you kept up like this - staying up all night, many nights in a row. You were burning the candle at both ends, but in your mind, it was all worth it for the end result.
Of course, you would conduct a lot of your studies at S.T.A.R. Labs, needing to be close in case you were needed. Team Flash would constantly insist you go home to study and forget about the Savitar debacle for now, but hell no. There was no freaking way you were going to abandon your team when things were dire. You could do both…
Right?
Currently, it’s one in the morning and you are alone in the Cortex. You rest your chin in your palm, trying not to let the looming idea of sleep consume you. This assignment is so close to being finished and you are… maybe… possibly… falling asl-
“(Y/N)?” comes a voice, startling you.
“Huh? What? Atoms and electrons!”
H.R. pops into view with a horribly worried look on his face. That’s the thing about your boyfriend - you can read his emotions like an open book. Damn it, like those chapters of the book you need to read for class! You scramble to search your bag for the book and flip wildly through the pages.
“Are you-?”
“-I WISH I COULD SPEED READ LIKE BARRY WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PAGES-?” H.R. snatches the book from your hands and you panic at the loss. He shushes you, which actually calms you down a tiny bit.
“What are you doing?” you ask.
“You need a dose of respite, ma Chérie,” he states.
“I-I don’t. What I need is to finish my work!”
“You look like Casper the Hostile Ghost!”
“Don’t you mean… never mind.”
“Come with me,” H.R. insists, taking your hand in his and tugging a little to get you to leave with him.
“I can’t right now-”
“You can and you will!” At that, your jovial boyfriend picks you up in his arms (which happen to be on display thanks to his well-fitted T-shirt).
“What are you doing?!” you shout. “H.R. put me down!”
He doesn’t answer back and continues to haul your ass back to his bedroom where he sets you down on his bed. He scoots around behind you and begins to massage your shoulders.
Oh. That actually… feels really good.
His hands are like magic, but of course, you already knew that. Your shoulders move a bit at his touch.
“There, now isn’t that better?” he asks.
“Mmm…”
H.R. peeks around to examine your face. You look so incredibly tired but are clearly revelling in his massage. He runs his hands down your arms then leads you to lie back with him in bed. So that’s what a pillow feels like. You had almost forgotten.
The author then takes you in his arms, holding you against his body as he starts to run his fingers through your hair. He knows you like it when he does this. It helps you relax all the more, humming your contentment.
“That feels nice, baby,” you mumble into his chest, “but I need to get back to work…”
“Shhh,” he hushes you. “It can all wait for one night. Just be here with me, okay?” H.R.’s other hand rubs little circles on the top part of your hand.
“Well… mmm…”
He really knows how to make you feel comfortable. Maybe a little too comfortable. You give a huge yawn. The last thing you feel is a sweet kiss to your forehead and a voice saying, “I love you, Kitten,” before sleep takes you at last.

Stolen Moments (Part 3)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 4
Summary: What happens if a pirate is saved by a mermaid and their lives become entangled?
For nearly a week, you visited HR every day. A week filled with laughter and songs. A week of slowly, without a doubt, falling helplessly in love with a wondrous, kind-hearted, merman. And said merman in turn fell in love with you – an adventurous, selfless, pirate. However, you knew better. You knew you shouldn’t go falling in love. Not with anyone. Not a human, not a merman. But, here you were. Your heart skipped at the tiniest of glimpses of him, you smiled like a thousand suns as he sang to you, and you were desperate to be close to him in every possible way.
Now, your first mate, Sonny, quickly became suspicious where you’ve been running off to. “I’m just taking walks. A way to clear my mind and have some time to myself,” you waved him off.
Sonny never pressed any further. He didn’t know what you were doing, but he knew that you always appeared lighter when you returned. Happier, more bubbly. Not that him or the crew minded. They loved seeing their captain in good spirits. However, being anchored on land for more than a week, you realized how antsy your crew was becoming. Yourself included. You never stayed in one place for any extended periods. You were sailors, pirates, people of the sea. Always exploring, always moving. Your crew was thankful for the vacation, but they craved to be back out on the high seas, to travel, and to discover new secrets. But, what they craved most of all was another chance to steal Poseidon’s Heart. Like you, they will stare death in the face and try to outwit him even if the odds are stacked against them. Failure was hardly ever an option.
As the sun began to dip into the horizon, you strolled along the shoreline. Like every day back to the cove where you and HR met a week ago. Stepping into the cove, you saw that HR wasn’t here yet. You slumped down onto the rock, yet within a second you were back on your feet. Your mind wouldn’t shut up, and you knew why.
Shucking off your coat, you removed your weapons, kicked off your boots, and rolled up your pant legs. You shivered as you stepped into the water, but quickly acclimated to the cool temperature. You paced back and forth listening to the waves crash on the shore, listening to the seagulls chirp, listening to the low murmur of the people of the port in the distance. Listening and listening to every minute detail to drown out your frantic thoughts.
But, it ultimately failed.
I … I have to tell him. Maybe, he’ll help … or maybe he’ll try to stop me.
You were completely absorbed in your thoughts that you failed to hear a splash a few feet away, or failed to see a flick of a tail. You huffed and kicked the water trying to shaking your head of this pestering thoughts when a hand latched around your ankle. It yanked you under the water. You yelped which the ocean quickly silenced. Pulled under, the hand released you and you resurfaced sputtering out salty water. Drenched, you stood back on the soft sand as the water gently rolled at your waist. Your body began to tremble at the freezing water.
HR poked his head above the water with a wide smile. You glared wrapping your arms over your shaking body. “Damnit, HR. Why the hell did you do that?”
“Because it’s funny,” he chuckled.
Your glare faded as a smile flickered on your lips. You turned around wading back to shore. Back on dry land, you ringed out your clothes and grabbed your coat to drape over your shoulders. You plopped down in the warm sand and tugged on your coat. Thankfully, your body stopped shivering, but it will take a while until you were fully dry again.
HR swam towards you and pulled himself out of the water. He laid down directly in front of you perched up on his forearms. His ring – the one you gave him – bounced against his chest kept in place by a lovely braided leather rope. “I’m sorry,” he whispered seeing your somewhat gloomy face.
You shook your head. “It’s fine, really. It was a good prank.”
“Well, you don’t seem fine.”
You sighed, “There’s just other things on my mind.”
“Like what?”
Out of habit, you started fiddling with your necklace. You peered up at this merman who swam into your life only a week ago. Your crew doesn’t know the whole truth of you wanting – needing – Poseidon’s Heart. It’s not because you didn’t trust them. Hell, they were like a family to you. You’ve fought beside them for years, but somethings you simply wanted to keep to yourself. Your crew knew you had a sister. You’ve docked and visited her multiple times, but they never met her. Your pirate life and your sister’s life never crossed them. You wouldn’t dare do so.
You told yourself it was for the best. But, part of you knew you did it to keep up your fearless, never crumble, persona.
“I want to try to get Poseidon’s Heart again.”
HR blinked. “What? You – you can’t! They’ll kill you if you go.”
You shrugged. “Like I said before it’s a risk I’m willing to take.”
“But – but why?”
Your legs curled towards your chest as you rested your chin on your knees. You hugged yourself, comforted yourself. Your eyes connected with his dazzling ones, and you dropped your gaze. You wanted to disappear, to let the water take you.
Fuck, I can’t do this. I haven’t told anyone why.
HR watched as you shrank with each passing second. This courageous, sometimes cocky and reckless, captain – who has seen unbelievable things, fought against mythical creatures and other ruthless people – was acting like a child. A small, defenseless, child who wished to be held by a parent as the encroaching dark surrounded. “HR … do … do you have any siblings?” you asked quietly.
He shook his head. “No.”
“A family? Friends?”
“Of course,” he scrunched his eyebrows together. Where is she going with this, he thought.
“Would you do anything for them?”
“Yes.”
“Even risk your life?”
“Well ... yeah I guess I would.”
“That’s why I need that shell, Poseidon’s Heart. I need it to … to save my sister’s life.”
“What?”
Tears welled up in your eyes. You burred your face into your knees. With a shaky voice, you explained. “My – my sister is terminal ill. All the m-money in world can’t save her. The doctors don’t know what’s wrong with her. S-so I’m going to get that damn shell and wish that she gets better and to have a happy fulfilling life.”
You stared in horror as for what it seemed to be the millionth doctor who said there was no cure for your sister. The doctor apologized then walked out of your sister’s cottage. The same cottage you both grew up in. The same cottage that took your father’s and mother’s life. So much death in one home. You shuffled into your sister’s bedroom. Her figure shaking as sweat drenched her forehead.
You picked up the rag on her nightstand and sat down beside her gently patting away the sweat.
“So,” she coughed, “what did that new wack job you brought in think?”
You laughed once through your nose. “He … he doesn’t think there’s a cure either.”
“Just like the other dozen you brought in.”
You huffed tossing the rag back on the stand. “I’m sorry I’m trying to save your life. This is just like mom and dad. Some strange disease that killed them without any explanation.”
“It’s going to be fine, (Y/N).” Your sister softly whispered.
“No, it’s not!” You leapt off her bed. “Fuck, you can’t leave me too.”
“I won’t.”
“Because, what? Of your damn idiotic belief that you’ll become some damn star in the sky and watch over me?”
Your sister frowned. “Yes, because of my idiotic belief.”
Fuck. I really am the worst.
You sighed sinking back into the bed. You bent over with your face in your hands. “I’m - I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean that.”
Your sister pushed herself up. She carefully wrapped her arms over your shoulders. “It’ll be okay.”
You stayed silent for a moment. Your brain racked through everything that has every happened leading up to his point. Everything you learned, everything you saw, and that was when you remembered something. “It will be,” you muttered.
“What?”
You straightened your back staring at her. For once, since this whole endeavor, you had hope. “You’re going to get better. I’m not giving up. I have the money to at least help lessen your pain. To pay for some kind of medicine that might help alleviate some of the symptoms.”
“(Y/N), this is happening. I’m –“
“There’s a myth,” you cut her off. “Of a wish granting object. Something lost to the sea or from the sea, I can’t remember but that’s not the point. I could find it and wish for you to get better.”
“(Y/N) …”
“I’m doing this.” You grabbed your sister’s hand. “I’m not giving up. And neither should you. You have so much more to live for, okay? You’ll just have to wait a bit longer until you become a star.”
You sister smiled softly. “Okay.”
Your sister was given a limited amount of time. She lived well beyond that sentencing. But now, she was on borrowed time. The medicine wasn’t helping like it used to, no doctors could help, and no experimental medicine or alternatives were working. Your sister was dying. All these years to come to this point and you will not fail. Every second dedicated to finding this object after hearing a story about it years prior. A myth that you hoped was true. And now it was almost in your grasp. Gods, know you’ll fight tooth and nail to get it. To save your sister.
“You would do that? No matter the cost?” HR asked stunned.
You glanced up at him with teary eyes. “If it’s my life than so be it. I haven’t lived an honest life for some time so better to give it away to someone who deserves it more. She’s better than me in every way. A gentler soul who only sees the best in people.”
He opened his mouth then snapped it shut. To see the absolute resolve in the face of his supposed enemy, it broke his heart. A stranger turned friend to … to hopefully something more is willing to end her life if it means her sister would live on, he thought. And I don’t know how to convince her to stay. To not do it.
He inched forward. With one hand, he brushed away a stream of tears. “It’ll be okay,” he said. “And you are a good person.”
“How? How do you know that?” You whispered. Your throat clenched as you fought back more tears.
“Well, here we are. Two mortal enemies and you’ve only showed me kindness.” He smiled. His ring dangled between you sparkling the dimming sunlight.
“I pulled a dagger on you,” you countered.
“And I tried to drown you,” he pointed out.
A smile curled on your lips. Your heart leapt as his soothing touch and caring words. “HR …”
He hummed.
“Thank you.”
He smiled. “You’re welcome.”
He dropped his hand and moved aside to lay down next to you. His emerald iridescent tail winked in the sunlight. He flicked it kicking up some sand at you. “It’s rude to stare,” he teased. He needed to see your smile on your face, he needed it to stay forever.
You snorted, “Like I haven’t caught you staring.”
His smirk faltered as blush dusted his cheeks. “Toes are weird,” he mumbled embarrassed.
“And so is your webbed hands.”
“It makes us swim faster!”
“Still weird.” You shrugged smiling.
He glared. Or tried to. A smile broke onto his face as he chuckled. You noticed early on that he never seemed to stop smiling. It was a lovely factor about him.
“HR,” you whispered.
“Yes, guppy.” He smirked.
Shaking your head, you rolled your eyes. Your cheery smile brought on seconds ago fell.
“Hey, talk to me.” He gently said.
You glanced at him. “HR … my crew and I are leaving – sailing for Poseidon’s Heart – tomorrow morning.”
“What?”
“I just thought you should know.”
“B – But the guards –“
“HR, you can’t persuade me. I’m going. My sister is dying. I … I wouldn’t forgive myself if I walked away now especially since I’m so close.”
I know, he thought. But I don’t want to lose you.
He reached out touching your hand. He carefully flipped it over dragging his sharp claw over your palm. “It’s … it’s so different,” he mumbled. “Soft … tiny.”
You huffed through your nose. “Soft? Please, I have callouses from my sword, and cracked skin from the salty water.”
“Still soft.” He splayed his hand on top of yours. Palms pressed together. He laced his fingers with yours. Or how far he could with his webbed hand. You shivered at his clammy skin. With his free hand, he reached up cupping the side of your face. “Soft. Not scaly or slimy.”
You leaned into his touch. “Um, thanks.”
Carefully, he guided your face towards his. Your heart soared. You didn’t know how much you wanted it until now. You never thought in a million years that a merman of out of all people would wiggle his way into your heart. Yet, here you were. With his kind, gentle, loving soul who always made you smile and laugh.
His eyes fell to your parted lips then reconnected with your eyes. How could a merman fall for a pirate? HR didn’t know, but frankly he didn’t care. He thought about you all hours of the day. He hardly left the shoreline as he hopefully waited for you to return. The ring – his ring – hung around his neck always caused his heart to flutter. He admired it and downright cherished it. A gift from the human world. A gift from a human. A gift that he would never give away or dare to lose.
Your lips brushed his. Your nerves sparked with passion. With a bated breath, you both stared into each other’s eyes. Captivated in this moment, captivated by each other.
“Captain!”
You jumped out of your skin and fell back into the sand. Scrambling up to your feet, you sprinted over peering out from behind the boulder. It was Sonny. He was calling your name and searching for you. You whipped around to HR, “You have to go.”
A look of pain flashed through his eyes, but he obeyed. He dragged himself back into the water sinking back into its depths. You rushed over and kicked aside his drag marks. You sat on the rock and started putting of your boots and strapped your weapons back on.
“Oh, Captain, there you are.” Your head snapped over your shoulder seeing Sonny. He raised an eyebrow at your damp appearance. “Did … did you go swimming?”
“What? Uh, no. I – I was just walking along the coast when a wave knocked me over.” You forced a laugh, “I guess stay on land too long has made me lose my sea legs.”
Sonny smiled a bit. “Yeah, well, I came to find you to tell you that all the supplies are being loaded onto the ship. We will be all ready for the journey tomorrow.”
“Good.” You slipped your arms through your coat and stood up. “I guess we should all get a good night’s rest. I … I have a feeling we’ll have to deal with more merpeople again.”
“Really?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, well, it’s an important and magical object. I should have known it was protected in some way.”
“It’s okay, Captain, we’ll get it. We’ll have whatever our hearts desire.”
You stepped closer to Sonny. “Sonny, look, I should have said this sooner. I should have said this a month ago when I finally discovered the location. I kept everything a secret from you all and that was my mistake. I – I don’t want you all going after this object. This treasure, the wish, it – it comes at a price. So, I need you to tell the crew that this is my adventure and my adventure alone. And don’t worry. You will all be compensated. I planned for this. All my treasure, all of my riches, I collected over the tears will be split.”
“Ca – Captain, you’re acting if you’re going to die.”
“I might.”
“What? No –“
“Please, don’t make this harder than this needs to be. Just make sure my things get split among you. There will be a letter in my captain’s quarters in my desk, top drawer on the left. In the letter I will have everything written out and there will also be the address to my sister’s home, please make sure she gets her share too. And – and there will also be a note to give her. Make sure she gets it.”
“Captain –“
“Everything will be in the letter, okay? I’ve accounted for everything. And in the end, I also want you to be captain when I’m gone. I know you’ll do great.”
“But –“
“Okay?” You repeated with a tone that was absolute.
“Yes, sir.” His face dejected.
You sighed. “Come on. Let’s go back and get some rest. We’ll need it.”
He nodded leading the way back. Your feet didn’t move. You looked out to the sea. The horizon painted with oranges and pinks and the sun slowly wished the world goodnight. Calm waves rolled against the sand. Yet, no splashes, no shadows seen. No HR. You glanced at the rock thinking back to a minute ago. A moment your heart longed for, but was cut off. You shook your head and followed after Sonny.
Why did I have to go and fall in love? Especially now when my life is coming to an end. And yet, I still hope I can see him tomorrow. For one final goodbye.

Idea’s for The Flash
So, I was doing some thinking about The Flash universe, and I had this really really cool idea, what if, another ‘Harrison Wells’ replies to that signal the team sent out to find a Wells for the team, and the team decide to let the Wells come over to Earth 1.
But, when the Wells jumps through, it’s a woman named Harriet Wells, and she has a son named Jessie. So wait this is basically a gender-bend, accept the idea is totally feasible.
I really want to write this, and I am, I just wanted to share this amazing idea of mine before I took a month to write it!

Coffee and giggles
*A/N: gif not mine, credits to notthatwells*
Title: Coffee and giggles
Chapter no: One shot
Author: @arianalilyblack
Pairing: Harrison ‘HR’ Wells x Reader
Word count: 965
Summary: You fell asleep in the Cortex and HR helps you start the day with your favorite coffee and something else.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee stroked your nostrils. It was a blessing waking up to this scent. If you would ever have to smell the famous Amortentia love poison from the Harry Potter universe it surely would smell like coffee, freshly clipped grass and books. You lifted your head from the desk on which you fell asleep last night. You looked around the empty Cortex while rubbing the back of your neck, which was hurting like hell due to the ungodly position you slept for four or maybe five hours. The desk was covered in papers filled with algorithms which you barely figured out before passing out.
„Have a lovely morning, Y/N” HR greeted you with his brightest smile. „Here’s a cup of freshly brewed coffee, black, no sugar, the strongest one. Just as you like it” he placed the cup in front of you.
HR was the perfect coffee guy, amongst other things. His goofy nature always made your days brighter. The novelist tried to help all the time, even if he only got mean comments. You appreciated him for always being there for Team Flash. He was so full of energy, liberating, you could say he was mad like a hatter, but in the best way possible.
You breathed in the marvelous scent with eyes closed. It was like heaven to your sleepy mind. This was perfect. The room was quiet, cozy, peaceful, and the coffee was at the right temperature. You took the first sip and you let out a silent moan.
„I didn’t know my coffee tasted that good” he smirked at you.
„It’s heaven” you savored the next bigger sip. „Thank you HR” you smiled at him.
„Always at the lady’s rescue” he winked while playing with his sticks, which made you giggle like a high school girl.
You reached with your hands above your head, to stretch your sleepy muscles. After that you arched your back which made it crack loudly.
„Y/N, let me help you. I know a few things about therapeutic massages.”
He quickly stepped behind your back, his hands landing on your firm shoulders. His gentle touch made you shy away for a split second, before you relaxed. He tried to loosen the knots from you neck and shoulders with his big hands.
„You really shouldn’t sleep like this anymore” he noted as he was releasing a stubborn bump from you trapezius muscle.
„I know, I know” you let out a small sigh while leaning forward a little to give better access to your back. „I will forever be in your debt HR”
„That’s an interesting thing to say. You see, on my Earth that means that the person, the debtor, owes her or his life for the other.”
„Your Earth takes things pretty seriously as I see.”
„Sums up perfectly. That is one of the reasons why I ran away. And of course, the coffee. I love your coffee.” You let out a small chuckle hearing his sweet babble about coffee.
„But I still don’t mind it. You are an important part of this team and I would take a bullet for you any time, because we are good friends. And you make the best coffee in the entire multiverse.”
„Thank you, Y/N. That’s very kind of you. I would do the same for you in a heartbeat” he leaned forward and pressed a little kiss on your head which made your cheeks red like a poppy.
He accidentally stroked your upper back while massaging a persistent knot out between your shoulders. His touch sent shivers down your spine. You were starting to feel a little warm, the Cortex was getting hotter. You may have had a little crush on him. It was because of his warm and silly nature; he made you feel safe and loved. He was the kind of friend who always knew what to do to make the people around him happier and more relaxed.
He was still behind you, so you couldn’t see his face. He was looking at you like you were the most significant thing in his life. He felt this way ever since he came to this Earth, but because of Savitar and other threats, he didn’t have the time to show his affection. Until now, when he came into the lab and saw you sleeping like an angel at the desk. He instantly knew that he had to make you coffee as a sign of fondness. And it seemed that he nailed to break the ice, more like the silence, between you two pretty well.
The invigorating massage was completed and he stepped away from you after a last squeeze on the shoulders.
„Here you go. Now you are ready to get back to work. After you finish your coffee, obviously.”
„Thank you, again, for everything. My debt still stands, even as the Earth 19 meaning” you beamed a smile towards him.
„I will take your word for it. I think I have a great idea how you could pay me back” he grinned with sparking eyes.
„Oh really? And what would that be?” you asked intrigued.
„I thought about going to Star City for a coffee adventure for a while. You know, trying out new things from new places. Not that I don’t love CC Jitters, just you know, experimenting.”
„And how do I fit in this picture?” you raised one eyebrow while crossing your arms before you.
„I would love if you could accompany me on this escapade” he divulged with a boyish smile.
„I will gladly be your coffee buddy on this journey, HR” you giggled and reached out for him. He took your hand in his and pressed a light kiss on it, like a gentleman he is.

“(Y/n)….?” Iris and Caitlin were frozen in place. Their mouth hit the ground
“Please let me explain!!” You pushed Harry off and went towards your friends, who looked at you as if you had grown a second head.
“Talk.” Iris crossed her arms and looked at you, her expression unreadable.
“Harry, it’s better if you go.” Caitlin told him without looking at him.
“C’mon dad, we should talk” Jess winked at her dad before grabbing his hand and pushing him away.
“Before I go, (y/n) I love you and I cannot imagine a life without you. I’m not going to give you up. I’ll die before giving us up.” Harry said before Jess speed away.
“I-”
“Bye Harrison” Iris said, once again without looking at him.
When you were alone, you sat on the ground and Iris and Caitlin sat in front of you.
“Tell us what’s wrong, (n/n).”
You started tearing up.
“S-since Harry arrived, m-my feelings got mixed a-again. I thought I overcome my crush on him, but after he-he said he loved me my-my feelings got mixed. I love HR, I love him, I really do. B-but Harry has a special place in my heart, and I don’t know what to dooo” You broke down, crying and Iris and Caitlin hugged you. They calmed you down, and Caitlin grabbed your face, she wiped your teary eyes and kissed them.
“Shhh, don’t worry. You just need to clarify your feelings. You can’t keep this up, someone will get hurt. And it’ll be probably you.” Iris said, caressing your hair.
“C’mon, let’s go get ice cream” Caitlin said.
“I love you, girls You smiled, wiping the last tears out.
“We know” Iris smiled.

When you woke up the next morning, HR came in with a tray with your favorite breakfast and a red rose.
“Good morning, my beautiful princess!!” HR smiled at you as he leaved the tray in your lap.
“Good morning” You smiled at him, then looked down at the delicious (f/b). “Oh, HR you still remember! I love (f/b)!”
“Well, it’s what we got on our first date!” You started eating, moaning at the flavor. HR smiled at you sweetly and saw a crumble of food in the corner of your mouth. He smirked as he licked the crumble away. You opened your mouth surprised and HR took advantage of that and kissed your hard. Your tongues danced in a sensual tango.
“HR-dear, please-“ HR let the tray on the ground and pushed you flat on the bed. “HR! we have to go to choose the cake.mpft!”
“Nuuh, I prefer eating this wonderful cake I got under me” HR smirked at you “ Y’know, she has the sweetest flavor.” You hit him on the shoulder and he busted out laughing.
“Stop it you!” You smiled at him playfully.
“Ouch! You wound me!!!” HR let himself fall on his back on the bed and started dramatizing like always.
“OH NOES, WHAT WILL I DO IF MY REASON OF LIVING DOES NOT LOVE ME ANYMORE! I SHOULD JUST DIE, HERE AND NOW! IN THE WARM EMBRACE OF MY BELOVED! CATCH ME (N/N)!” HR tackled you and you laughed at his foolishness.
“Oh, you drama king, you!” HR had his eyes closed and his right hand over his face, a smile broking his act as all of his weight pinning you to your bed-
“But I’m your drama king ;)” He opened a eye and looked at you.
“Yes, you are” You grabbed his cheeks and kissed him. When things got heated again you got up and let HR there, with a stupid face and blushing.
“Now, I’m going to get ready to taste those cakes. They won’t wait forever.”
“Ouch! ” HR smiled before grabbing the forgotten tray and going back to the kitchen to clean it up.

*DING-DONG*
The bell jingled as HR and you made your way inside the bakery.
“Hello!!!” A cheerful woman in her mid-forties smiled at the two of you. “You must be the futures Mr. and Mrs. Wells!”
“Yes, we are” Said HR as his big hand hugged yours.
“Perfect! Come in come in! Maria! The couple for the wedding cake is here!!!” The woman yelled.
“Alright!” A woman in her early fifties came out of the kitchen and smiled at you two.
“This is my wife, Maria. She’s the best baker in the twin cities! We will guide you in this fantastic adventure that is cake choosing!!” The younger woman clapped. Her wife looked at her tenderly.
“Excuse her, she really loves weddings. So, I’ve prepared you a series of flavors for the cake, as you had previously answered if you had any allergies, we prepared these keeping it in mind. We also specialize in making all out cakes gluten free! So everybody can eat without any worries.”
“Perfect!”
“Follow me” The older woman said as she guided the two of you to an adjacent room.
“I’ll be with you in a minute! Gotta close the shop!” The other said.
“Okay. First we have Swiss chocolate covered with a powerful black chocolate of Belgium and inside has a surprise.” HR and you tasted it and as the cake made contact with your tongue an explosion of molten black chocolate. You couldn’t resist as a little moan escaped you. HR’s expression was bliss.
“How is it??” The shorter woman came in again and sat next to her wife.
“It’s good, really good” HR said. You nodded.
“The next one is vanilla cake covered in cream with strawberry surprise inside.”
HR dipped his finger in the cream and bopped you. The cream dirtied your nose and HR giggled, you smiled at him and did the same to him. The couple looked at the two of you between amused and kindly.
“Okay, okay. HR we must stop! We’re acting like Childs!”
“Okay…” HR pouted before kissing your nose and eating the frosting in it.
“aaaawwww!!!!:,)” said the two womens.
After you two cleaned up and the bakers recovered of cuteness overload the cake trying continued.
“Hmm, the next one is a red velvet cake with vanilla frosting.”
“Hmmmm, it’s really good!!”HR said.
After a few more tryouts, you two decided to choose the (f/c).
When almost the sun had gone out, the two of you were going out the shop HR’s hand grasped yours, you two bid goodbye to the two nice ladies and exited the shop.
“Where do we go now?” You asked. HR smiled mysteriously.
“I have a surprise for you.” HR tied a blindfold and guided you to Central’s lake, here HR grabbed you bridal style and sat you in a hard surface, the he sat in front of you and suddenly it moved, you had to grasp the border if you didn’t want to fell.
“You can look now.”
You took the blindfold out and saw HR with a loving smile. You looked around and saw you two were on the center of the lake, as the sunset painted the water in oranges and pinks.
“You don’t have an idea of how much I love you, (y/n) (l/n). You are the sun of my days, the moon of my oceans. The only thing that pulls me thought all the problems, my brightest star that guides me thought my dark ocean. I adore you, I’m completely in love with you. You made me the happiest man alive in the 52 universes” HR said, you kissed him and he hugged you.
The two of you stayed like that, hugging and seeing the sunset until the moon raised on the sky. HR returned the boat to the pier and helped you down. The two of you returned to your home holding hands and laughing.
When you opened the door to your home, HR went to the kitchen to grab a drink and you went to your room to put on your pajama.
“You want something to eat, darling??”
“No! Thank you, dear! But I won’t say no to (f/d)!”
“Okay, my love!”
You hummed yours and HR’s song as you entered your bedroom, a pair of arms grabbed you and pulled you towards a hard chest, a familiar scent overwhelming your senses.
What do you do?
-Scream.
-Turn around, look at them and hug them.
-Turn around and kiss them.
