I do actually think one of the big issues with radical feminism is that if you can convince yourself that one single group of people is born with evil baked into their DNA you can eventually be made to believe that of more people who have far less privilege and protection. Which is like a huge radfem recruitment method ofc first they get you to believe men suck and then it's asexuals and aromantics and then bisexuals in m/f relationships and then bisexuals in general and then pansexuals and polyam people and then gnc men and intersex people(who are somehow all considered men) then "cringe" trans people and then all trans people.
This is also my beef with people who act like having a personality disorder like npd or aspd makes you inherently a bad person or take astrology so seriously they believe being born under the wrong stars makes you untrustworthy, like any ideology that seriously bases it's core beliefs on the idea that a human can be born in such a way that makes them inherently a bad person and there is simply nothing to be done to change this is one you should run the fuck away from. Even if the people they are attacking are men, honestly fuck it especially if the people they target are men, because it's clearly so fucking easy to sell women and queer people on that bullshit and legit once you believe one group is malicious and oppressive by birth it's SO easy to get you to believe it about other groups too.
Honestly I genuinely think a lot of people who buy into this straight up don't believe humans have free will and it's super fucking weird. Anyone can decide to be evil and anyone can decide to be good. It's a decision, and sometimes the scales are weighted against you for any number of reasons, but the way you were born is NEVER one of them.

I`ve been wondering - why are skimmer avians called that? They certainly do not show any adaptations to use the extreme feeding method of the skimmer bird without breaking their jaws and/or necks.
They skim using handheld tools. One of the reasons they are the only flying avian to have a tail fan is because it helps them maintain flight stability while fishing with tools held in the rear limbs.

In defense of Jack Merridew (alternatively titled: my classmates did not read the book)
I don’t like it when people categorise any lord of the flies characters as “good” or “bad” (or in any other types of media, really) and it’s especially bad in class discussions. My classmates always say things like “Jack is crazy guys!” Or “Jack is evil!”, and it annoys me to no end. Are you trying to tell me that you read lotf off Sparksnotes? Anyways, these characters are too complex to be categorised into a single, black and white label, so I think picking up various traits based on the text is a better way of understanding the characters.
Two characters a lot of people like to put these labels on are Jack and Ralph. In my class Jack is seen as a batshit insane demon while Ralph is an angel with a shimmering halo. This is another time I ask them, “have you read the book with your eyes closed??”. When compared to Ralph, Jack does seem objectively, more chaotic, but that isn’t seeing the full picture yet. Today I’m going to clear up a few misunderstandings my classmates often have with Jack to prove that he is not in fact, evil.
1. Jack constantly bullies Piggy throughout the book
While it isn’t wrong to say this, he does bully Piggy quite a lot, I don’t think this is a valid point when discussing how he’s evil, because all of the boys, including Ralph, mistreated Piggy. This argument can’t be made solely for Jack. I would’ve gone on to explain how Ralph doesn’t treat Piggy that well either, but all this mistreatment is arguably a result of Piggy’s own decisions. Being a character that heavily relies on adults, Piggy decides to share the very name he doesn’t want people to call him to Ralph immediately. Since they’re Eton type school boys, of course this wouldn’t go piggy’s way. Him being bullied is a result of his own behaviour in the book, which doesn’t justify Jack’s actions, but explains it.
2. Jack is responsible for multiple deaths
This is another point my classmates often make. A pattern I’ve noticed is that they tend to weed out things that other characters are also guilty of, and direct it at only Jack. This is very frustrating because the main deaths in this book (Simon and Piggy) are results of the setting’s effect on all the boys. When discussing Piggy’s death in particular, Jack isn’t even the one who directly causes it, albeit he doesn’t seem very against it either. Anyhow, It’s not as if Jack purposefully intended these deaths, or even directly caused them, they are all at fault in some way or another. Jack is responsible, but not solely responsible for them. It’s just easier to point the blame to him because he’s the face of the hunters.
3. Jack is inherently evil
I think this is the most outrageous point by far. First off, this is literally proven wrong at the start of the book, where Jack struggled to kill any pigs. It’s shown when he, Ralph and Simon explore the island, in which he hesitates to do so, and another scene where he fails yet again when Ralph is building the shelters. Perhaps this is because British school boys were not taught how to hunt, but I believe it also shows how Jack is just another scared boy, and not inherently evil. There aren’t any other factors that stop him from it other than himself, making it different from Roger’s case where nothing other than societal norms stop him from throwing rocks at the littluns. I’m not saying that Jack is completely innocent, but he is most definitely not inherently evil. Despicable, apathetic characters that are evil at heart do not struggle to kill a pig.
Conclusion
Jack is as controversial as he is misunderstood. While he does harmful things in the book that lead to death and injuries, I believe that he shouldn’t be the only one responsible. Everything that happened on the island is a result of the setting’s effect on the boys, so we cannot direct the responsibility at a singular character. Jack is not inherently evil, nor is he a despicable villain (yes I’m talking to you villains wiki,) and if that’s what you got from the book please read again.
Side note
This is my first post ever so I hope I did okay and didn’t sound too arrogant. It’s mainly directed at my classmates. I know people can have different opinions, and you don’t have to agree with me, but please read the book at the very least. I might make a proper post about defending Jack in the future, but this is all I have for now. Thanks for reading!

Hi, here's an easy question for you that I can't find online for some reason. How exactly was Alloran enslaved? Every wiki article seems to gloss over this and it's been far too long since I've read the books to remember.
Also, what's your take on it? I remember always feeling vaguely disappointed because I couldn't figure how a yeerk would overpower an andalite, but do you think it works within the narrative, or is it just kind of a plot device to create The Abomination?
Compared to how things go down with Alloran, I think Aldrea's dramatic capture in Hork-Bajir Chronicles is way cooler. Esplin 9466 being ecstatic about finally being inside an andalite mind, only to have his abandoned host body attack him and rescue Aldrea, is one of my favorite scenes in the series.
But yeah, how it happens with Alloran (Andalite Chronicles p. 174 - 180) is deliberately obscured. Elfangor brings Esplin 9466 onboard the Jahar as a hostage, inside a hork-bajir. He gets distracted driving the ship, but returns to that hork-bajir to toss him out the door. Alloran tells Elfangor to flush the Pool ship, killing 1000s of defenseless yeerks. Elfangor refuses. They argue. They're interrupted "Chapman" punching Alloran and knocking him over/out. Elfangor thanks Chapman and starts to fly the Jahar back to get the Time Matrix, only to be shot at by "Loren."
At that point Elfangor realizes Chapman, Loren, and Alloran are all controllers — Chapman put yeerks in his own and Loren's heads as part of his bargain, and Esplin 9644 escaped his hork-bajir host, into the body that "Chapman" conveniently placed ear-down on the ground for him. Elfangor realizes he can't win against three controllers. He dumps Alloran/Esplin on the planet and flies off with the two humans locked in a back room to starve out their yeerks.

i've mentioned this vaguely but... adam IS sworn to virtue and chastity, as an angelic knight, as his duty is devoted to serving heaven and he's not supposed to indulge in any temptations of the flesh. obviously, he doesn't adhere to this strictly. but he does, inwardly, feel somewhat guilty about it. he does consider it a sin / or at the very least, breaking his vow. so, he's generally not very open about any such affairs, nor does he actually sleep around often. ( especially while in heaven! if he indulges, it's usually down in hell. )

Power Tool Braver Dragon
Where to even begin here? Power Tool Dragon is cool enough on its own, but we've gone a step further here, because funnily enough, this actually isn't OG PTD. It's actually our good pal Life Stream Dragon wearing a sick suit of armor that is modeled off of PTD, only it's been upgraded in several areas. Most notable and striking is the weapon upgrades; PTD's original right arm has been turned into a powerful hydraulic clamp, while its left arm has a massive and deadly looking version of the drill from Double Tool C&D. Also, if you look closely, its tail shovel has been turned into what is likely a pair of pliers (or maybe a flamethrower? It's hard to tell where the flames are coming from lol). It's interesting to compare this card to PTD, as PTD actually has very little red in its design, but this card went a little wild with red accents. They do fit very nicely with the swirling flames at its feet, though. Another interesting note is that the two cards share the same background, only rotated a bit. Final point: the prismatic shine effects off the clamps teeth, the drill, and the background add nice little bursts of color contrast.
Rating: 10/10, The bravest dragon of them all :)

"when I say someone's a narcissist I'm not insinuating they have NPD, I'm just using the colloquial definition" would only hold water if the people using it actually WERE using the colloquial definition. 10 years ago the colloquial definition of narcissist was a person who was self-absorbed or vain. The stereotypical 'narcissist' was a teenager taking too many selfies. The idea that a "narcissist" is someone who is evil and manipulative and inherently abusive only exists because of stereotypes about people with NPD, and only exists because of raptorial pop psych articles about "how to spot this new breed of evil person to be terrified about". You cannot say "I'm not talking about NPD" while specifically using the toxic mythologized NPD stereotypes, it just doesn't work.

This blog has actually made me realize I'm a huge fan of objectum ships, I used to think they were really weird but now I find them to be really neat and even have a few of my own so here I present.
Solar x his tools (he thinks there perfect for him, they fit into his hands perfectly, they ease his stress by giving him something to do, and they just feel like they belong with him)
Lunar x Spigot (may or may not be the person who rambled about them before)
Earth x Dolls (she finds them easy to bond with, doing their hair, dressing them, even thrifting dolls and getting them back into shape, she thinks their so pretty and lovable and she loves the feeling of comfort and familiarity they give her.)
Honestly I'm surprised that I've received as many objectum confessions as I have. I'm not complaining, confessions are confessions, I just find it rather funny how many of you all are lurking in this fandom.
