Jikook - The Fan Service Professionals

These two are such pros when it comes to fan service, they even practice behind the scenes. Dedication with a capital D! Even during the height of Covid, when there were no performances on the horizon, they were diligently keeping up the charade.

The newly released Bangtan Bomb of the BE Skit recording is a great example...

It is 2020, JK's birthday, and the Billboard #1 win for Dynamite has just been announced. Five of the guys file into a recording studio and sit down. Namjoon leaves an obvious gap next to Jimin.

JK arrives a few minutes later and takes his place... next to Jimin.

The group discusses the fact that the Billboard win was announced on JK's birthday and that he clearly needs no more gifts. What happens next is interesting...

JK tells them he received the best gift of his life and Jimin speaks for the first time since JK entered the room, jumping in to say "We're recording Skit, right?"

I've never seen anyone change the subject with such haste as this. In fact i might go so far as to say the way Jimin interrupted was ...almost rude! (But not really rude, because.. .he's Jimin)

But I digress...

The producer tells Jimin they're already recording and Jimin glances furtively at the microphone to confirm. Yes, the red light is on, it is indeed recording.

He laughs and slaps his thigh. Something must be really funny because he continues to laugh behind his hand, which is SUCH a tell for when he's embarrassed.

Long after everyone else has moved on, Jimin is still smiling to himself.

Maybe it's because JK just announced to the world that he got the best birthday gift OF HIS LIFE.

But he didn't specify what it was. He didn't say it was the Billboard win. And it looks like that birthday gift went on all night because the boy is clearly exhausted.

Anyway, moving on...

They start practicing their "fan service routine" at this point:

Without a word being exchanged between them, Jimin stands up and gives JK space to change his position. He then sits down next to JK and adopts the exact same position, with folded legs. Tick the box for mirroring behaviour

The next part of routine is connecting through touch - you know - how genuine couples touch each other as a way of checking in? Yeah like that. (Somehow I see caressing a person with your knuckles as more intimate than using your palm, but maybe that's just me)

And then there's a different type of touch - that body contact that comes with intimacy and familiarity. When you're a new couple this type of thigh touch can be very titilating but when you've been together for a while it's more comforting than sexy (although there's definitely an element of sexy too). At this point they are barely interacting, aside from Jimin's arm draped over JK's thigh and his fingers resting casually on JK's shin like it's his own personal armrest... he's certainly covering all the bases on that leg.

uuummm... okay, well played Jikook...

10/10 fan service here I guess.

Anything else that might have happened in this 'practice session' was lost on the cutting room floor, but one thing is for certain... neither Jimin nor JK got a wink of sleep on the night of JK's birthday.

Some may say it's because of the BB #1 win but I don't see any of the other guys in such a state of disarray as these two.

One thing that is obvious though:

Whatever the two of them were celebrating, they went at it all night long.

BTS's music at Trader Joe's...

Yeah. "How cool", I'm thinking, as I'm hearing Jimin's part in Dynamite! (Not my favorite tune of theirs, but hey... it's Bangtan!) I specifically went to Trader Joes for two things, one of which is KIMCHI.... They happen to have the best packaged Kimchi that I have tried so far. It totally ROCKS.

I thought it funny that I was shopping for a Korean staple food, when K-Pop is playing overhead... in the NC Blue Ridge Mountains, about 7100 miles from Korea.

Literally every time I grab the Kimchi in the fridge, I think of the guys. (I think I have a Kimchi addiction...lol...)

Anyways... it's the little things in life that bring joy. In a world filled with the opposite, I am grateful for those moments that put a smile on my face. You know? 💜

Dynamite - in small and large packages

I was looking back through holiday photos today and came across pictures of the suits BTS wore for the 2021 Grammys performance of Dynamite. They were on display in Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul when i was there last year.

First i have to say, these suits are exquisite. The fabric is beautiful and they are exceptionally well made. Our boys certainly do not go about looking like paupers.

But the main reason for this post?

Their sizes reflected by these outfits

I know, i know, its old news. We see it in so many photos and videos... but the suits, side by side, really brought it home for me.

And for the record Namjoon is a towering oak of a man. His suit is a LARGE. I was legit intimidated just imagining him in it haha. He is truly a lighthouse - physically and intellectually.

But back to Jiminie and Jungkook.

The difference in size is notable.

We know Jungkook is a muscle pig, but I'm not kidding, that suit looks like he's packing half a cow under his jacket and the other half down his pants (not like that, you filthy minded people).

Jimin is as slender as a reed. If he was a musical instrument, he would be a flute. His waist must be so so tiny. I am sure Jungkook could encircle Jimin's body with his two hands.

Not that i imagine this or anything like it. Ever at all. Nope.

But i digress...

The suits, when seen next to each other, really show what a big boy JK is and how tiny his 'small and precious Jimin-hyung' is.

And I know Jiminie isnt short-short and JK isn't a giant by any standards, but there's a marked difference in height when looking at these suits.

Also, both of them have ridiculously long legs. How is this fair? Did they sneak into the gazelle queue when legs were being assigned?

I was definitely in the caterpillar queue. And I was right at the back 🤣

Jikook Week 39 Complete (03/09 - 10/09/2024)

Their 39th week in the military is now complete and it's time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2020.

It was full on Dynamite era. JK posted the picture below on 03/09......

......and on the 08/09 BTS found out the song was spending a second week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 and there response was this......

Season 1 of In the Soop was in full swing and Ep. 3 and 4 were released on 02/09 and 10/09 respectively.

Ep. 3 includes the famous pancake flipping incident..........

.....as well as the creation of the theme tune to the series.

In Ep. 4 Jimin & J-Hope painted shoes and V & JK sang karaoke.

Finally this week, Jikook's September FILA promo photos were published. Look at them! So sassy, so fine!

Correct me if I'm wrong... but that's a total of 39 of more songs (OT7 and Solo stages of each member) that have been eligible for both Platinum and Gold since last year or earlier, but the company simply??? Didn't bother with it???

their hairdresser is so talented (i'm not surprised, gotta be the best of the best to work with the best with the best 🥺) , it's hard to imagine how jungkook's cute and small bowl cut could become as different and stylish as in the SNTY performance video with Usher

soooo true, I'd love to get an insight into a professional k-pop stylist's/ mua's/ hairdresser's techniques and process, this stuff is so interesting to me, it's really an art form in itself!
