Blocked and seamed, this beautiful pattern is done!
Pattern: Dedale by Audrey Borrego
Yarns: Knitpicks Hawthorne in Eliot (green) & Dyehouse Yarns by Serial Knitters in Em&Em (speckled white)
Details and close-ups beneath the cut
This mystery knit was an absolute blast! We were given two charts each week (60ish rows total) starting Sept 1st for six weeks. I fell behind due to some trips but I had Decked Out 2 vids to watch while knitting so it never felt like a slog. The wrinkledness of my floats blocked out beautifully and it is SO SOFT!!
The maze does actually continue all the way through!!
Small pinglist for those who had extra thoughts on the WIP I posted <3 @joyousmistake @plantpretender (dear friend ilu and your excitement!!) @orangespicecake (I wish you luck friend!!! You deserve a cool maze cowl in your life!!) @littleyarngoblin

Monforts automation reinvigorates Pincroft line
Tumblr media
As a specialist in dyeing, printing and finishing very well known for its advanced camouflage ranges for the military, long-standing Monforts customer Pincroft is now benefiting from a complete modernisation of the Thermex continuous dyeing, condensing and thermosoling range at its Adlington dyehouse in Lancashire, UK.
First installed in 2007, the line has been upgraded to match the performance of the very latest Monforts Thermex lines that are equipped with advanced automation features providing machine operators with full control over the entire system.
The modernisation project included new control cabinets, gear motors for the fabric transport drives and PC, PLC control, touch panels and frequency inverters.
The new control cabinets were supplied fully pre-assembled from the Monforts HQ in Mönchengladbach, Germany, for direct connection to the line.
In addition, Pincroft has installed a new combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the site and is now able to produce 67% of its own electricity and recover heat for use across its textile operations.
Know-how
With over 130 years of accumulated know-how in the bleaching, dyeing, printing and finishing of fabrics, Pincroft has an annual production capacity of 50 million metres.
Its meticulous pre-treatment processes, including brushing, singeing, desizing, scouring, bleaching, and mercerising, ensure that fabrics are primed for dyeing and printing, enhancing their quality and performance.
Drawing on a vast knowledge in commission textile dyeing, eco-friendly dyeing methods and advanced lines ensure precise and consistent colour shades meeting the most challenging fabric requirements and as a specialist in bespoke commission printing, services span everything from camouflage printing for global military forces to designs for home and workwear.
Mechanical and chemical finishing services can further transform textiles and enhance their inherent properties and the company is Europe’s leader in flame retardant fabric treatments, with its Proban® treated textiles ensuring ultimate protection with outstanding comfort, appearance and durability.
After joining forces with Carrington Textiles in 1998, the company has been an integral part of one of the largest suppliers of workwear, flame retardant, waterproof, defence and sustainable fabrics to some of the biggest companies and organisations in the world.
Since then, export business has significantly expanded to over 80 countries and the two companies enjoy a particularly strong position in the supply of camouflage and uniform materials to armed forces around the world, including the UK and Dutch Ministries of Defence, as well as the Finnish and Estonian armies.
Reliability
The upgraded Thermex system at Pincroft’s Adlington plant now achieves unrivalled reliability even at maximum fabric speeds, for exceptional cost-effectiveness when dyeing both large and small batches of woven fabrics.
“Our machines are built to last and known for their robustness and long service life,” says Monforts Area Sales Manager and Head of Spare Parts and Retrofits Achim Gesser. “Textile companies making major capital investments in new manufacturing lines rely on durability from the company’s production ranges, and it’s for this reason that there are currently an estimated 2,000 Monforts machines in operation worldwide – some of which were first installed over 30 years ago.
“This doesn’t mean, however, that they can’t benefit from many of the advances in performance and automation we have subsequently made. The retrofitting of specific modules with new control and drive technology – going far beyond the basic replacement of spare parts – can have a significant impact on the performance of an existing line and especially maximizing energy savings.”

Over the years my mother in law is going to end up with a wardrobe of hand dyed hippie clothes, as it should be. If you're wondering what her personality type is, think overly friendly white woman at the farmers market. (complete with long, grey blonde hair and sensible shoes)

Borgholm Castle, Sweden (No. 29)
The construction of the castle into a unified baroque palace began in 1652 and lasted until 1709. However, the rebuilding of the castle was never completely finished. Instead, the castle was left to more or less decay until 1803, when a new tenant, Axel Adlersparre, took up residency in the castle and established a dyehouse in its northern wing. However, the business did not last long. On 14 October 1806, the roof of the north wing was ignited by a spark from broken masonry and caught fire. The fire spread quickly in the strong wind and soon only a castle ruin was left.
In the middle of the 19th century, there were calls to preserve and maintain the dilapidated castle. In 1858, the then Crown Prince Oscar (II) visited the castle and was very upset about its decay. Two years later, the first state funds for maintenance were granted and used to rebuild windows and gun ports.
In the 1880s, arches and stairs were also repaired in the castle. The renovations were carried out so that the castle would not pose a risk to all the summer guests who had started visiting the now popular seaside resort of Borgholm. During the 19th century, trees and shrubs had also taken a firm hold on the old castle, which reinforced the sensation of a castle ruin. During the last 100 years, major renovation efforts have been made to preserve Borgholm Castle and today the castle is a well-visited place for tourists.

today is my first day recovering form top surgery! i feel like a t-rex bc i cant move my arms much, but i can still knit!
got back yesterday late afternoon, which was good, since it meant i would ave time to eat something a chill a bit before the neighbors who live across the field and river from us set of their several thousand dollars worth of fireworks, which they do every July third, and which they have been doing long enough that it is practically indistinguishable from something done professionally. it was our last one, since we’ll be moving in a couple weeks, but it was very fun.
my dog was very worried about me while i was out getting surgery and when i got back, since apparently he was in my room a lot while i was gone, and when i got back he was hanging out near me and sniffing around me a bunch, probably because i smelled verry odd from the hospital, all the surgery stuff, and the drains in my chest probably were letting off a very concerning smell to his doggy nose
sad i cant really spin right now, but i can knit! im doing the echo in the bone mkal, and it’s going great!
Tumblr media
yarn is meanwhile back at the ranch by serial knitters dyehouse, and as you can see in the background, this is the second piece of a two-piece triangular shawl. i finished the first clue pretty quick, so i started on the second piece since they’re identical, and now im doing them both one pattern section at a time.
thank you for listening to my rambling, have a good day!

much snow on the ground and a little driving small snow between 7 and 8 – F36° at 8 inside and 30 ½° at 8 10/60 outside – wrote a line or two to Lady S. de R- A- came for a minute or 2 at 8 ¾ - breakfast at 9 5 in ½ hour – then with Robert the joiner – had Holt before 11 – he would have another set of men for the boiler setting – had talked to Mr. Akroyds’ book-keeper, Ingham – would employ the Wilson peoples who worked under Manchester people for Mr. A- and set one boiler by themselves – I agreed – Holt to go up to Booths’ directly and tell him this and to have the flue pulled up and deepened at B-s’ expense for he had not done it to order – I said if H- would but get up spirit and order right, I should be satisfied – he promised he would, and would have boiler and flue all done in a fortnight – told him not to mention it, but to desire the Lowmoor co. not to send the cylinder till this day  3 weeks that we might have time to air the chimney – told H- I had now several applications for the coal (did not mention Stocks’ name) – the answer I had given and should give now was ‘that it was not at present my intention to set any price on the coal’ – Holt said he would let by ticket and then they should all have a fair chance – but Mr. Holmes an awkward partner I said hastily I would not have him – but why could not the concern be carried on as it is – in my own name – I should not like to grant a lease of 21 years – but told H- to tell me beforehand and as soon as he could what bidding he and his brother meant to put in – he said he would talk to his brother about it – he said there would colliery would made some money by and by – after the 1st two years were over – they (at Holts’ colliery at the top of the hill) are now selling fifteen hundred loads a week and make a thousand a year Stocks has not more coal on Swales moor (for house fires) there will last 5 or 6 years – is going to widen Wilsons’ pit and lay out five or six hundred pounds upon it – Wilson will soon be driven out of the partnership – Holmes will stand stupid, and Stocks must pay him to get rid of him - [out at 4 ½] – Holt does not like Holmes as a partner, but would like his nephew (Edleston) quite different sort of people and it is better to have a consumer a partner who can and will take all the small coal – Holmes’s dyehouse burns £700 a year and they allow him a 1/2d. at the load (i.e. for taking the small coal) – with A- a little while and Hemingway who had come to speak to her  from Booths’ farm - with the Robert joiner – baring a hole thro’ from the landing into the north chamber to see about the new door opening  into this room – then with A- till the joiners returned from dinner and then with them or musing and looking about or getting the tables set in the upper Tower closet for A- who had her glass and best china moved there this afternoon – Gave Robert Norton orders about the great stairs-post, and looked about in the kitchen court, and found him old oak to set the post on – came upstairs for ¼ hour about 3 ¾ - A- came to me for a few minutes – out at 4 ½ - to Listerwick nobody there – then to the gardener house at the conery – Sam Booth and his family got into it on Saturday afternoon and the gardener Robert Rawlinsons left it that morning – came in a little before 6 – then in the cellar, John Booth getting out the rubbish the masons had left – had the doors re-hung – dinner at 6 ¾ - A- read French in the dining room – wrote so far of today till tea at 8 ½ (fancied coffee made me bilious .:. tea 1st time tonight) – then read to p. 233 vol. 1 Murrays’ Pyrenees – finish day overhead – F32° inside at 10 40 and F26° outside at 11 pm
