You had started making holiday treat bags for your class with the help of your boyfriend, who seems to be puzzled by the long curved candy you put in the bags. 

As a teacher, you vouch to do all the things that you saw on Pinterest with your class.

Hence why you were at the store, in the midst of all the Christmas madness, shopping for candies and treats to put into little loot bags for your students.

Your boyfriend, Paulo, followed you around the store, pushing the shopping cart. "What about these?" He asks, holding up a pack of Christmas themed erasers.

"Those are so cute," you smiled, "get a few packs." You were picking up some pencils and little stickers you'd put into the bags for them.

The shopping cart was already overflowing with things that you and Paulo didn't need, but picked up anyways, along with all of the stuff that you had picked up for your students. You make your way over to the candy aisle and pick up a few packs of lollipops and Hershey kisses before you turn to the giant wall of candy canes.

"Why are they shaped like that?" He asks you and you glance over at him, the man leaning on the cart. "Like what?"

"Like that," he says, picking up a pack. "Candy canes," he reads the package, turning it over to read the back.

"Why are you looking at it like that? You've never seen a candy cane before?"

"I mean yeah, but I never tried it." He says, tossing the pack in the car, he assumed you wanted them for your students. You mirror his actions, picking up a few packs and setting them into the cart for your students.

It finally hit you what your boyfriend had just said.

"You've never tried a candy cane?!" You look at the man, utter surprise on your face.

Paulo shrugs, "I've been busy baby, what can I say?"

"Okay so make time, we're trying some tonight."

He nods, watching as your fingers waved over the shelves as if you were looking for something. You picked out a few different picks for him to try; peppermint, sour patch, Froot Loops, Oreos, and pickles.

"Pickles?" His nose wrinkles, "I'm throwing up already."

You laughed, "you need at least one gross flavour, it's a must."

It takes you a bit to get home but when you finally do, you unwrap the boxes of candy canes, taking one of each flavour out.

"Ready?" You ask him, getting him a glass of water before sitting with him on the couch. Paulo looks at you, holding back his laugh - you were taking this very seriously.

"As ready as I could ever be, babe."

You handed him the candy cane, he'd taste it, put a rating down and then take a sip of water before you repeated the process five times. It took him a bit of rearranging, and some double tasting before he finally settled on his official rating.

"Okay, let's hear it," you tell him, breaking off a piece from the peppermint one and sucking on it. Paulo watches you for a moment, lost in thought.

"Paulo?" you waved your hands in front of his face, chuckling. "Don't be dirty right now. I still need your help with the bags."

"Oh yeah, right." He smiles, cheeks flushed a bit red before he takes a sip of water. "The official ratings are pickles in 5th place, Froot Loops in 4th, sour patch in 3rd, Oreos in 2nd and the winner is peppermint."

"Really? I thought you liked the sour patch flavour more than the Oreo."

"I did but then it left a weird taste in my mouth so Oreo took over as second place."

You nod, picking out a few of the candy canes for him. "Here," you hand them for you, "I'll pick up another box when I go to the store over the weekend, now come help me put these together."

Paulo sits across from you as you unwrap the things to put into the bags, he does his own unwrapping; undoing the plastic packaging on 3 of the candy canes and sticking them in his mouth at once.

"Paulo!" you laughed, "you can't do that, one at a time babe."

He smiles, holding all 3 of the candy canes as he shrugs. You shake your head, thinking to yourself that he's not that much further off than your students.

Winter: Snowball Fights

A/N: GOD IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE WRITING PAU AGAIN. You’ve all been sleeping on him for far too long. I could never.

“Babe?” Paulo’s voice calls to you through your semi-awake state. You long to turn over and bury yourself back beneath the warmth of the covers but Paulo’s tugging them back, exposing you to the cold air and his cool body. “Please babe, wake up.”

The groan you make is the only sound you’re capable of doing as your hands claw pathetically at the duvet to try and capture the heat once more but he’s stronger than your sleep-weak muscles.

“Pau,” you whine, giving up fighting him for the duvet and instead, try to pull the pillow over your head but he grabs that too, leaving you slumped on the mattress frustrated.

“I need you.”

“Sex can wait.” you huff, deciding that this was the worst way to get you in the mood and not a mood.

“Yes, it can.” he agrees, making your eyebrows furrow together.

“Then what do you want that is so important to wake me up…” you trail off to check the time, “before 8am?”

The bed dips and moves as his body moves a little more, hands manipulating your frame until you’re on your back and he’s above you, lips at your earlobe and the light shadow of a stubble coming through on his jaw rubs at your cheek as he whispers, “it’s snowing.”

“So? It can wait.”

“Nu-uh. Wanna build a snowman?”

“No. I want to sleep.”

“Sleep is for the weak.”

“Then let me be,” your words fall flat as your resolve melts and your body begins to come around from the sleep you’ve been pulled from. Paulo lays with an even body weight on you as you begin to stroke his hair while he nuzzles at your neck. A few minutes pass and when you show no sign of falling back to sleep, you let out a reluctant sigh.

“Fine.”

The clothes you’d packed were to try and keep out coldness, maybe extending to a frost, but certainly not snow. Snow was not on the weather app, despite the temperatures plummeting and so you’d thought it was safe. Never, have you been so wrong. Reminding you once more to not trust the weather forecasts and just hope for the best.

With one hot drink and a light breakfast in your belly, you’ve brought out another hot drink in your flask to try and keep you warm whilst outside. Paulo couldn’t wait, or rather, wouldn’t wait. His footsteps are carved out, step by stepping showing exactly where he’s been. The steps lead to the beginnings of a snowman that is beginning to take shape as you carefully follow his steps, not wanting to create your own just yet. Snow flutters down, and though it’s only a light dusting that falls from a heavy sky, you get the impression that the prints left behind now will be filled by early afternoon at the latest.

Your thermal flask has barely touched the snow covered patio table when you feel the harsh thud against your back and a spray of snow falls on either side of you. You daren’t turn, not wanting a faceful of snow but you brace yourself for a second one or more, both of which follow in quick succession.

Gritting your teeth, you steal a glance and send him a scathing look his way; one that momentarily halts Paulo in his tracks but not for long. You’ve only just managed to place the thermal onto the table, making sure that it can stand without being knocked over before you scoop as much snow into a ball within your hands.

It’s barely shaped when you’re arching your back to avoid being hit once more but the moment it’s formed, you’re sending it flying in Paulo’s direction.

“I thought you didn’t want to go play in the snow?” Paulo yells as he takes cover behind the small mound that was the snowman's attempt.

“You woke me up and I chose violence as retaliation,” you justify, smoothing yet more snow into a sphere. “Come out you coward, you wanted this. You started this.” The ball leaves your hand, lifting up into the air before you catch it once more as you wait for him to make an appearance.

The pompom on the hat bobs up and down above the snow shield as he tries to move, making it easy to track where he is. Finding yourself bored of waiting but not wanting to step forward in case he hears the crunch of the snow beneath your shoes, you opt instead to send the ball flying in his direction, skilfully knocking the hat askew.

He straightens up instinctively to fix the hat position, only for him to feel the cold burn as your aim lands perfectly, causing a flurry of snow to fall from his head.

“Right,” Paulo snaps, pushing to his feet and begins to make his way back to you. Panic rises within you, the fear of being chased begins to ripple but the snow prevents you from moving as quickly as you’d like.

Paulo is upon you within what feels like seconds. You’ve barely made 6 steps when you feel his hands on your jacket, pulling you backwards to him before the feeling of being pushed begins instead. You twist your body at the right moment, hand grasping for anything of Paulo’s, fingers itching to close around something of his when they finally do at the last second. Fabric fills your hand, enough for your fall to take effect and pull him down with you.

“Do you give up?” He asks, rubbing his cold nose against your own.

“Excuse me, but you were losing.” You point out, though Pau shakes his head in denial.

“I don’t think so. But I’m prepared to take it easy on you next time.”

Chapter 4 - Search Party

They had been rummaging in the cockpit for a while now, all in vain.

Emi and Leo checked the pilot's dead body while Cristiano and Neymar looked around the room. Neymar scrunched his nose in disgust and while trying to cover his nose, nudged Cristiano in the ribs.

"Ow! Are you trying to kill me or what?!"

"Stop whining. I was trying not to die from this God-awful stench."

"Speaking of which, why did it have to be us searching the dead body? Ugh!"

Emi rolled his eyes at that question.

"Would you prefer searching the back part of the plane? Or the toilets? I wouldn't mind", Emi said with a slight shrug.

"Uh, no thanks. I will continue here."

"Oh great!"

The sarcasm was lost on no one.

Neymar raised his arms in defeat and left the cockpit.

"Oi Ney! Come back here!"

"Aw hell no! I feel bad for this dude but I don't want to join him. Uh-huh. I can't deal with the stench. You guys continue. I'll drink some water and join you in a minute."

EMI'S POV

Damnit! What's wrong with these people!

Besides me, Leo dropped the pilot's arm suddenly and rushed out of the cockpit, calling Neymar loudly.

Weird.

Why is everyone so weird? Like what's-

Oh shit. Neymar went to drink water! It might be poisoned!

SHIT SHIT SHIT

I ran out of the cockpit as fast as I could only to see Leo slap the bottle out of Ney's hand, who didn't seem very pleased by that. Thank God!

Cristiano rushed out as well, bumping into me hard, like HARD.

"Ow! Damn Emi! What are your bones made of, stones?"

"Same thing yours are made of!" I replied while rubbing my arm. This bitch is really strong. Might've fractured my arm, this douchecanoe!

"Just because I said I'll help doesn't mean you guys could leave me all alone there!"

"Shut Up Starboy. There was an issue. Neymar was about to drink water."

"Why is Neymar drinking water an emergency? What even-"

"Oh my god! Did you forget to pack your brain among all the protein you packed?"

He just gave me a dumb look in return. ISTG...

"The water, it may be poisoned."

"Oh right!"

I slapped my forehead hard. Idiot.

Neymar threw his hands up in exasperation.

"Why did you do that amigo?"

"Sorry about that Ney, but that bottle you were about to drink from is the one we found near the dead pilot."

Neymar turned to me sharply. At first, I didn't understand but then I remembered.

I threw the bottles down. Shit.

I just gave him my best stupid smile and he shook his head in disappointment.

"Thanks, brother! I could have very well been dead by now!"

"No problem, just be careful."

"Can we go back in? We have to keep looking for the codes."

Before the others manage to find the parachutes and we have to jump out. Nope. Can't deal with heights. Na-uh.

"Sure, let's go. Ney, you coming?"

"Yeah sure."

Cristiano rolled his eyes and followed them back in. Douchebag.

END OF EMI'S POV

Ozil and Dybala were searching the storage room for parachutes while Haaland was looking out the window. Hakimi was still on the verge of crying, just glancing at the other three men from time to time.

"This is useless, we're not gonna find anything here. I'm telling you, whoever planned this is smart enough to remove any way out."

"Dybala, please. We're trying to save our lives, there's no need to be so negative. We'll find something for sure. If there are no parachutes, then Emiliano and the others will find the codes. Don't worry."

"Sure, you waste your energy here. I'll be in my seat, waiting for the good news. Best of luck."

Haaland turned to look at the commotion just as Dybala left the room.

"Huh. Everyone is being cranky."

"Can you blame them? We might be dead any time."

"You're a really cheery guy Hakimi. Nice to meet you."

Haaland left the room, smirking. Hakimi looked at Ozil in confusion.

"Forget it. Would you like to help me find the chutes?"

"Oh sure."

They continued their search.

Haaland emerged in the main body of the plane to find Dybala sitting in his seat, seemingly unbothered. Harry, Ramos, and Di Maria were looking around and under the seats, probably looking for any clues. Meanwhile, Kylian had found a packet of nachos and was busy munching on them. Haaland looked between Dybala and Kylian and decided to sit with the latter.

HAALAND'S POV

"So, uh, Kylian... Hi."

"Hey man", Kylian replied with a mouth full of chips.

"Yeah, so... what are you doing?"

I cringed visibly at that sentence. Conversation starters are not my specialty after all.

Kylian didn't seem to mind, as he quickly swallowed the chips and smiled at me. Weird. I would've roasted him.

"Uh, nothing much. Just found these chips in Emi's bag. Felt hungry so I ate them. Hope he won't mind."

Good luck with that. If I had noticed anything during this painfully long flight, it was that Emi didn't seem to like Kylian very much.

"You find any chutes back there?"

"Yeah, no. That ain't happening."

"Well, shit."

"Why? It doesn't seem that bad to me. I mean, I agree with Dybala. Maybe we should run with it, you know?"

"Wow. You change fast", he said while laughing. What does he mean by that? Weird man...

"I mean, you were the one calling us out on not acting, now you're telling me you want to 'go with the flow'?"

He must've judged by my face that I didn't understand his accusation.

"I thought we could get away easily but Dybala is right. Whoever planned this is very clever. I bet they're not gonna find the codes either."

"WE FOUND THE DAMN CODES!!"
