Review: Dancing With the Stars Season 33 Finale
Something is in the air this year or at least something is in my eyes this year. This season of Dancing With the Stars surprised me. I genuinely thought a this cast was the best of the best selected. But this season was better than best. This goes to show that anything can happen and it does always get better (whatever it is). Before I review the 3-hour-long finale that aired yesterday night, I…

I'm so glad and surprised Val and Maks gave Karina Smirnoff her "flowers." To hear Val compare Daniela to Karina is a huge compliment to Daniela. To hear Val say the dwts ballroom has not seen the type of finesse and calibur of dance since Karina left speaks volumes. The newer female pros are great but lets not get it twisted, for me, no female pro compares to Karina, Cheryl is a close second. JJ has ALOT to learn before she can earn those comparisons.
Karina is Queen. The fact that these Jenna stans had the audacity to say she’s on Karina’s level...but the fact that Val said it is just lovey. I’m glad they made up and he got over breaking his brother’s heart(sis was messy when it came to her relationships but I’m glad she’s good now). Yes Cheryl is a close second. Lacey and Ashly are the only others I would put in like Top Tier(well and Julianne) Dani really was a breath of fresh air(and Britt) this season. Especially Dani...she just moves so....she’s incredible. Great lines...sharp...sensual....fluid...but she made her partner look just as good and he really did grow. I love her

Ranking all of Iman Shumpert’s winning ‘Dancing with the Stars’ performances
Tumblr media
The first NBA player in history to win ‘Dancing with the Stars’ blew us away
Iman Shumpert made history on Monday night, becoming the first former NBA player to win Dancing with the Stars. The show, somehow in its 30TH SEASON, has seen numerous athletes take home the prize, but never a basketball player.
The reason for this is a bit of a mystery. Some have speculated that tall athletes, particularly basketball players, tend to struggle with footwork and choreography — or that their muscle memory from playing ball rarely translates into dancing well. However, die-hard fans noticed immediately that something was different about Shumpert. Starting Week 1, when he was given a 4/10 by the judges in a performance that was universally loved, commenters pointed out that Shump had excellent timing for a man of his size, and that partner Daniella Karagach was picking routines perfect for his skillset.
So, let’s rank the best Shumpert had this season en route to taking home the big prize.
No. 1: Contemporary
youtube
The week before Halloween was the perfect time to break out a stunning Us-inspired dance that blew everyone’s minds. It showcased both performers, and Shump really understood the theatrics needed to pull it all together.
No. 2: Cha Cha/ Foxtrot Fusion
youtube
Another perfect score dance for Shumpert and Karagach came in the finale with this dance that was just pure fun, and really summed up their entire season as a whole.
No. 3: Freestyle
youtube
Fans had waited to see what Shumpert would do in freestyle, and he didn’t disappoint. This dance played to every one of the pair’s strengths, and was excellent from top to bottom.
No. 4: Jazz
youtube
While Shumpert was great, this performance was all about Karagach’s choreography. All season long she understood how to devise dances that played to her partner’s strengths, and he brought it in this freeform piece that was less about raw dance moves, and more about timing and athleticism.
No. 5: Argentine Tango
youtube
Traditionally the tangos are the dances that celebrities struggle with the most. They demand actual dance posture and skill, which normally trips up people. In this case the duo killed it, and it was so much fun to see them perform to “Arabian Nights” from Aladdin.
No. 6: Paso Doble
youtube
The Spanish Paso Doble blends elements of ballroom and rhythmic dance and naturally fit what Shump was capable of on the dance floor.
No. 7: Jive
youtube
The lowest rated dance of the season, Week 1’s Jive was a travesty in judging. Thank goodness he managed to squeak through, because this season-winning run could have ended before it started because of this dance — and it would have been wrong.
No. 8: Vienesse Waltz
youtube
One of the best things this season has been to see how Daniela Karagach perfectly understood what Iman could, and couldn’t do on the dance floor — and plan for it all. She also saw the need to modernize their performances, and this was a brilliant blend.
No. 9: Redemption Tango
youtube
Just a really nice classic dance done exceptionally well. Still, didn’t quite wow as much as some of the other performances.
No. 10: Tango
youtube
Not a bad dance at all, this was more about seeing how far along Shumpert’s dance posture had come from the start of the season to this point.
No. 11: Cha Cha
youtube
There was nothing functionally wrong with ANY of Shumps’s performances this season, but this one lacked a lot of the pizazz of the others.
No. 12: Foxtrot
youtube
Obviously it was enough to get them through, but the pair’s Foxtrot to “Let it Go” was one of their weakest dances of the season. That’s pretty good considering there was nothing really bad about it.
No. 13: Rumba
youtube
This was early in the season, and it shows. The worst dance of the season, still really good by DWTS standards.

DWTS 29, Week 2
Nev & Jenna
My goodness I love watching this man dance! His hip movements and arm placements are INSANE. There were times where I thought his toes maybe weren’t as pointed as I thought they should be, but the shoes men wear for ballroom dancing make that difficult to tell sometimes.
Skai & Alan
Nooo that mistake ruined an energetic and well performed routine! I agree with Carrie Ann that the arms were odd at times, but she has such great legs and precision otherwise.
Johnny & Britt
Johnny has such a great upper body that I’m sad his footwork isn’t better. The attitude is there, the precision is there, he just hasn’t quite found his inner ballroom dancer yet.
Justina & Sasha
Man can Justina perform. And dance. And just generally be wonderful to watch. It was a bit stop and start with some of the turns, but everything else was so smooth and elegant that I thoroughly agree with the three sevens.
Monica & Val
These dances are so short sometimes that I don’t really feel like I get the essence of the dancer. Not a fan of the lift and I thought the dance as a whole needed more kick and jive to it in general. I did think it was an improvement from last week though.
AJ & Cheryl
Another one that’s fun to watch, he is so smooth out there on the dance floor. I thought that end kick was a bit off and there was the knee fumble too, but in general it was a very good performance.
Anne & Keo
She was a bit stumbly through the whole thing and her arms weren’t always as elegant as they could have been, but if she would loosen up more the quality would improve so much.
Nelly & Daniela
Loosening those hips would elevate his already great performance so much. I love his energy and footwork precision though.
Chrishelle & Gleb
Was it just me or did her movements look very awkward? It must just be connecting those movements together because she didn’t do that particularly well. I don’t agree with the scoring, I would have put at least one 5 in there.
Charles & Emma
He’s got attitude, I’ll give him that. There was actually a pretty good body roll going on there, which made up for the footwork and stiffness the rest of the time.
Jesse & Sharna
Obsessed with Sharna’s dress! He’s got great moves, he just needs to sell it a bit more. Solid frame and footwork, just break down that wall and his performance will go up to the next level.
Jeannie & Brandon
Control that energy a bit more and those moves will be far more polished. She’s a lot of fun to watch though, she’s got some potential.
Carol & Pasha
Carol is much more suited to the slower dances. She needs to fix her shoulders but overall it was simple and elegant. That 6 was very generous.
Vernon & Peeta
Fix that posture!! He attacked that dance but needs to have consistent posture and shaping.
Kaitlyn & Artem
It’s easy to tell she’s a dancer, that was very elegant with amazing lines. There was a stumble but other than that I really couldn’t tell she had injured her foot! It seems odd to award her an 8 with that evident mistake though.
Elimination
No surprise who the bottom two couples were. I do think Carol did a better job this week in general so expected ther to pull a bit more favor with the judges. Thanks for your time in the ballroom Charles!

Since the DWTS Junior thing isn't totally out, who do you see being a pro ? I'm thinking about Rylee Arnold, Jake, Daniela and Ruby who did sytycd junior. They oculd draw some viewers because I don't believe that the junior celebs will be the one bringing raising the ratings.
The only two I'm aware of are D'Angelo and Amanda. So them if they're not too old by the time it airs.

The 366 meter long, 162,867 dwt container ship MSC Daniela caught fire in the Indian Ocean 120 miles off Colombo, Sri Lanka. The MSC Daniela was en route to Suez Canal from Singapore when a fire started in one of the containers in the aft section. The fire quickly grew and engulfed more containers.  Unable to contain the blaze, the vessel changed course and proceeded to an anchorage off Colombo.
Four vessels from the Sri Lanka Navy and 2 vessels from the Indian Navy were dispatched to the scene to assist. Tugs from the Sri Lanka Ports Authority also assisted in firefighting efforts. The Sri Lankan Air Force also dispatched a helicopter with a bambi bucket to assist.
No reports of injuries. Reports from April 5 state the fire continues to burn.

I agree Daniela gets some jobs because of James, but I do think she is pretty and I like her body, she was Volleyball player for the Colombian National team, that ended when she married James and went to Porto, then got pregnant like 1 year later, for DWTS she was in Colombia only for 3 weeks, she was finishing college so she stayed like one more week for her graduation, she is still young and learning about herself I remeber she said she only wore sweatpants before, now she likes fashion 1/2
I agree (I feel like I always say that with an anon, but they always bring up stuff I never even though about it) I do love Daniela, so I hope I didn’t seem too negative about her. I think she should do more athletic modeling because she has that body type. And yeahhh! She was married and got pregnant late teens/early 20′s and those are the years that you really start learning who you are. I know I dress totally different from just a year ago when I was 20

DANCING BRASIL - MEET THE CAST
Tumblr media
NOME: MC GUI | PROFISSÃO: FUNKEIRO DO BEM
Vai nos lembrar: The Situation
Tumblr media
With the Stars: A GINASTA.
Tumblr media
NOME: SHEILA MELLO | PROFISSÃO: A NOVA LÔRA DO TCHAN

Some of the things the last anon wrote just aren't true. What I know is 1. Daniela said she had to stay in Colombia for several months before DWTS started on TV to train+learn all the dances 2. When she's interviewed on red carpets/for press 95% of what people ask her is about James so they're mostly interested in her bc of him 3. Fine but why is she called 'athlete' now when she left behind all hopes of becoming a real volleyball player 7years ago? Now she's doing it as a hobby at most 1/2
(part 1)

I saw a bit of Daniela on DWTS, they announced her as 'deportista' and 'wife of James' but she didn't last too long on the show. I think she shouldn't have done it, it made her+Salo spend months away from James. She isn't even really an athlete, she stopped playing volleyball in 2010 to be with James, is it even true she played for the national team before? Then she played a bit for Madrid but mostly she just works out at home. The whole 'deportista' thing is just cringe-worthy and wrong. (1/2)
I remember I just discovered James/futbol when Daniela was joining DWTS (around late December, early January of last year) so I can’t say I know much about her before then. I remember an anon told me she had an injury and that’s why she doesn’t play volleyball anymore, so idk about the national team thing. But yeah ‘deportista’ and wife of James’ sounds really awkward and Daniela is more than just someone’s wife, but that is really the only reason she is ‘famous’. Didn’t she get a lot of negativity on the show? I remember she had a post and it was James telling her to ignore the negativity (I’m 99% sure that happened.. my phone is charging and I don’t feel like looking on instagram atm)

James is not very active on instagram lately, he didn't like his mom, uncles or siter posts, and was mother's day and HIS Mom birthday,I think he gets so much hate for no reason that he avoids going on social media and only does it when he is going to post something, maybe he has a CM, also I remember when Daniela competed on Col DWTS, they couldn't say his name on the show cause is a register brand, so maybe he can't "advertise" her covers and modeling jobs.
What is a ‘CM’? But I think you’re right; I hardly see him active on instagram. I hate that he has to avoid social media because of all the negativity. I wish he knew more people loved him, but it’s so much easier to remember a negative comment than a good one. And wowww I didn’t know they couldn’t use his name when Daniela was on Dancing With th Stars. I love Daniela, but she’s not really famous on her own.. like I know she played volleyball and she does some modeling/fashion stuff, but like how did they announce her on the show. You have to be famous kinda but I guess as a WAG she is by default… anyway wow you know all the good stuff lol, I appreciate it
