I use that word escaped on purpose because that's exactly how it felt, like I was lucky to be escaping 17 years of an abusive marriage. The damage was done though, I now suffer from CPTSD. I am stronger now than I have ever been. I am not going to thank my ex-husband though. I am stronger because of who I am. I choose to fight and heal. I choose to rise above the hell he put me thru because he wasn't going to win. Don't judge on something you don't know. . . I did I judged all the time. I'm absolutely ashamed I did. It wasn't until I looked for help did I realize the seriousness of my situation. The abuse and trauma this one human caused. It was unknown to me. I know now, and can honestly say unless you've been through it. You have no idea. You have no idea what's it's like to not know how to grocery shop anymore because you've been told by the monster "oh I love your meatloaf" so you go out and buy more and he then says "you know I don't like meatloaf baby" and that's just an example of the daily gaslighting. I will never judge anyone , I will offer my help and I will be a friend. This is PTSD Awareness month, nobody should live with demons . The truth is I can't believe I did but I never believed I wouldn't make it either. I like to think I made it because I am strong, but I didn't feel strong when I was going through it, and there are plenty of days I still don't, but being strong is overrated if you ask me.
