Orange and red light burst into being as Erik dusted his hands with a very satisfied look, nodding at his handy work. The spirits were with him tonight as he breathed in deeply to look out across the space of beach that quickly became the desert. It reminded him of home and comfort being with his old caravan. The smell of smoke, roasting scorpid, and soup pots abound to match the sounds of laughter, music, and family.

But he was alone now. Alone in a wide world. Nostalgia was a hell of a drug that he knew was a bad thing to grab onto.

Besides he wasn't all that alone.

A soft thump in the sand brought him too as he blinked his golden eyes and looked back over his shoulder. The gruesome orc he kind of called friend stood there, what he supposed was a grimace on the greenskin's face as he stretched out a bit.

"See what you can do with that," Sevlaz grumbled as squeezed and cracked his knuckles audibly.

Erik nodded as he padded over and picked up the bag, opening it with a curious sniff and then pulled it back with a face near to match that of Sev's.

"What?"

"I don't want this."

"Well," Sev tilted his head with a questionable frown to match the narrowing of his eyes. "It's all we got, and we're both hungry. So, make it work."

Erik shook his head. "Go catch some fish or something."

"What? No. Cook that."

"I don't like it!" Erik pressed back as he tossed the bag toward the orc's feat.

The look of confusion and speeding frustration on the old thief face made it very obvious that was not the answer to his 'foraging'. "That's not how this works. And how do you not like them?"

"I don't!"

"It's beans!"

Erik wanted to vomit as Sev call them out, shaking his head as he turned away to the ocean. "I agreed to help you with this job, you owe me and now you owe me proper food."

"It is food!" Sevlaz roared back, sweeping up the bag of beans and shaking them at the back of the vulpera. "They're gods damn beans! The mainstay of everyone! Cook em and eat em! Now!"

The cold shoulder could have caused a cold snap on all of Duratar as Erik didn't even move.

Which he should have as the bag of beans smashed into the back of his head with a loud thump. The yelp and fight that followed echoed across the desert.

It ended with the scent of roasting small fish.

Meet Duratar Hlaett, my newest tav c: He is a storm sorcerer drow, and his alignment is lawful neutral. His dark hair is due to surface elf ancestry, probably a grandparent or something. He has spent his whole life in the underdark, so the whole tadpole situation is like a horror movie to him lol. Hope you all like him ^^
