Glass (2019)
Security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities.
Warning: Review may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.
JayBell: This movie wins an award for one of the worst I've seen since we've started The Cat Chat. I came into this with LOW expectations and somehow I'm still shocked by how bad it is. I honestly considered trying to watch at 2x speed just to get it over with faster.
I'm sad because what did they do to my boy James McAvoy?? They took his amazing performance in the last movie and subjected him to this? His character has such good foundation, such potential, and they squander it with this. Like he still had a good performance but the script is TERRIBLE. Let's not lie. The only reason they add this STUPID light show in the hospital is because they want to show James McAvoy switching through all this personalities on command. Which yeah, is impressive performance-wise, but it makes no sense in the context of the movie. Not only is there no explanation for why shining bright lights in his eyes works to change personalities, there is no REASON why they should be forcing all the personalities out like this anyways.
My big gripe is that the plot for the movie is so stupid. Like it’s a bad idea to tie the movies all together anyways, but if you had to, this isn’t the way I’d do it.
The whole idea is that there is a secret society out there trying to stop superheroes, but they don't want to kill them, so their idea is to get these "superheroes" to believe that they aren't superheroes by just talking to them and saying they aren't over and over. Okkkkayyy. Well you've got these people locked up right? So what's the end goal? If you convince them that they aren't superheroes, then are you gonna let them go? I don't think so. I can't get over how much it doesn't make sense.
Also, why is Glass here? Isn't he just a normal dude with a medical condition? He did some evil stuff, but that doesn't make him superhuman. And he's been here like 20 years, so why does this secret society decide to act now and not earlier? You don't have to convince him of anything cause he was already locked up until the secret society showed up.
The "side" characters don't make an impact, including the son, Anya Taylor-Joy's character, and the mom. It's nostalgic and whatever, but if you're gonna bring characters back, give them a better part of the plot.
The ending. My god. The movie treats this leaked video as something crazy that stops the world and changes it forever. Let's be real. People are gonna see it, think "nice special effects," and move on with their day. Nothing is gonna change, and it's silly for the movie to pretend like this ending did something.
This is a movie that shouldn't have been made. In my head, I'm gonna pretend that Split exists in its own universe.
I'm giving one star to James McAvoy.
Rating: 1/10 cats 🐈
Anzie: I really have no words. I’m confused. And angry. And confuseddddd. Like the plot just doesn’t make sense. At all. Like we’re all into the fact that Bruce Willis is tracking people down for 20 years- never been caught, NEVER given a name that stuck by the public IN 20 YEARSssSssSss. And him and his cringe kid have this little Batman and Robin thing going on so youuu’dddd think the only reason he’s in the but house with Glass and “Kevin” is he’s undercover. Riiigggght!?!? That would be great, maybe?? Redundant. But better than this shenanigans. Nooooo. We’ve got one of Sarah Paulson’s lost AHS characters loose and trying to convince them the superhero thing is just in their heads??? From jump street I don’t trust her- but I thought she was just evil and didn’t want anyone in her way for her plan? But nooo she’s in the superhero banishment club??? But also Glass is just an evil mastermind?? And even tho Kevin’s really strong, the dude deserved some real help and some meds. Like for real pls. And I just really don’t understand the legality of all of it bc were there cops??? There had to be?? Or is the psych hospital have armed men now? IDK. And you’d think the son would be more concerned to go to the reallll cops and get him out. I’m just really mad. And the end. What the actual fluff. I just don’t even wanna talk about it anymore. I’m peeeevvveeddd.

Photography and Privacy!
There is so much things to learn from an artical and a document. While reading an article ‘Protecting the Right to Photography, or Not to be Photographed’ by Olivier Laurent there were lots of points who grabbed my attention, but when Mr. Turpin says, ‘I believe that what happens in a public place should be a matter of public record’. I completely contradict this statement because if a photographer gets a right to capture whatever seems interesting than a stranger has a privacy right too. Especially in today’s world where technology and AI are going out of the hand it is really important to respect others privacy. There is lots of ways to resolve the issues but invading someone’s privacy is not necessary.
Also, In a documentary video ‘Everybody Street’ by Cheryl Dunn has lots of fascinating information too but when a photographer Bruce Davidson says, ‘It is easy to penetrate someone’s privacy is about privacy and I have tried my work to make contact to offer pictures’ I am completely amazed with his words and the respect he showed toward his content’s privacy. It is important to respect your work in a way of privacy, values, emotions each and everything matters I strongly believe.
Therefore, everyone has their ways of work and thoughts we cannot change it, but yes everyone's words and thoughts are equally important as someone photographs. We can agree or disagree with someone's thoughts but cannot say completely right or wrong because one's thoughts cannot be same as others for sure.

Unbreakable was a damn good movie. Had a good comic oragins aspec to it. Bruce & Samuell were great in it. The 2nd film of the triogy "Split" was good. But they messed up the ending of the 3rd installment "Glass".. M.Night Shyamalan must got some points from the folks at Disney/Marvel. Because it was truely the dumbest thing that i have ever sceen. You mean to tell me. That the charector "David Dunn" aka Bruce Willis. Was able to survive all those things that happened to him & you decieded to drown his face in a "street pothole".. really ? I'm not even, going to get into the rest of the ending.

Cinema's Underworld
Cinema’s Underworld
In some ways, the raucous party of the Roaring Twenties was sublimated in the movies of the late 1920s and early 1930s — a brief period at the beginning of the sound era before censorship guidelines were enforced. During those “pre-code” times everyone from preachers to publishers decried the sex and violence that washed across the silver screen.

DFP Actors August: Peter Feeney
NZ actors tend to end up in a lot of the same shows over the years it seems. I have a lot of fun spotting familiar faces, so I thought this would be a fun and silly little project, seeing which actors have repeatedly been in things that Deano was also in (not necessarily alongside). Just a bit of trivia. Enjoy!
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995-1998/1996-1997)
Dean played a few different characters on this show: Iloran - S1E12 "The Gauntlet" Young Iolaus - S4E3 "Regrets... I've Had a Few", S4E11 "Medea Culpa" and S4E20 "Twilight". Ruun - S4E7 "Prodigal Sister"
Peter played: Castor in S2E14 "Once a Hero" and The Other Autolycus in S3E19 in "The End of the Beginning". (I don't know which one is him in the last pic, apparently one is him and one is Bruce Campbell.)
Shortland Street (1996/2000?)
Dean played Nurse Harry Martin in 1996. Peter played Dr. Nathan Exley (in 2000?).
I couldn't find much re: Peter's role other than the name and a couple (reliable) sources that said "2000" but I don't know what episode(s) and wasn't able to find anything to screenshot him from. Sad face.
Xena: Warrior Princess (1996-2000/1997-1999)
Dean played two roles: Homer/Orion - S1E13 "Athens City Academy of the Performing Bards" Wiglaf - S6E9 "Return of the Valkyrie"
Peter also played two roles: Caswallawn - S3E5 "Gabrielle's Hope" Tharon - S5E7 "Back in the Bottle"and S5E8 "Little Problems"
All Saints (2001/2002-2003)
Dean plays Evan Coen in S4E42 "The Other Side of Perfection". Peter plays Bruce Randle in 3 episodes between S5E23 and S6E9.
Toy Love (2002)
Dean plays Ben. Peter plays Jim. (They're both cheating on their partners... I haven't watched the whole film yet but so far of the scenes I've scrubbed around in, I don't like anyone haha.)
Legend of the Seeker (2009/2008)
Dean plays Carver Dunn in S1E17 “Deception”. Peter plays Otto Nyth in S1E4 “Brennidon”.
The Almighty Johnsons (2011-2013/2013)
Dean plays Anders Johnson throughout the series. Peter plays Guy in S3E10 "Playing God".
Wanted (2017/2017)
Dean plays Will Johnson in S2E2-S2E6. Peter plays Anthony Babbage in the same episodes, S2E2-S2E6.
The Brokenwood Mysteries (2018/2018-2021)
Dean plays Barnaby Buchanan in episode S5E4 "The Dark Angel". Peter plays Marcus Donovan in episodes S5E2 "Bride Not to Be" and S7E1 "The Garotte and the Vinkelbraun".
That's all I have for these two - did I miss anything?
-
Side note, this was by far the hardest post to make for some dumb reason. I had such a hard time finding him in some of the shows (and didn't manage it for Shortland Street). I found myself muttering "Feeney" a lot. I'm sure he's a great person though.

Wilson
"Glory days, well they'll pass you by..." ~ Bruce Springsteen
Thirty rears ago, Wilson, North Carolina, seemed like a prosperous tobacco town. Factories hummed, tobacco warehouses lined the streets, and gracious homes stood on shaded lawns trimmed with boxwood. Barton, the local college, boasted a modern classroom building and a covered walkway that looked like something out of Brazil.
Back then, my 13-year-old son and his pals did tricks in a skateboard park built in a creek bottom. While they skated, I caught up on architectural magazines from my office.
Both Wilson and I have aged. On a recent visit, I found that the tobacco market and the skateboard park were gone. Porches sagged on houses that needed paint. Many factories were closed. And Barton College was building a Georgian-style football stadium.
The Town of Wilson has created a whirligig park near the train station. Tourists come to stare while licking "Softee" ice cream. Chimney swifts nest in abandoned smokestacks. A tobacco warehouse is now an Iglesias Pentecostal. “Sean Todos Bienvenidos (Everybody Welcome)," the sign says.
It’s easy to ignore change in cities and in life “as if it were possible to escape the drift of our lives,” the poet Stephen Dunn wrote, "the fundamental business of making do with what’s been left us.”
When I left town with a big "Softee" in my cup holder, I realized it was comfort food.
