Dexter: A rat king. I know that this is a real phenomenon and not exactly a monster but hear me out: Dexter is literally ALL the rats in town, he can see and move through their bodies, he can also make several of them group together inside his exterminator suit to try to imitate a human form. It has its advantages but Dexter is one of those who have the worst time with his curse.

Bob: Wendigo (a creature so associated with cannibalism was perfect for Bob) is much more violent now and is always on the lookout for new humans who may come to town. With the exception of the protagonists (Ivan, Maurice, etc.) he was the one who killed most of the humans who came to town.

Hatzgang: Merged into a hydra/chimera. I was thinking of something similar to Falin from Dungeon mesi with branching necks connecting their human torsos to the Big body.

They are one of the most aggressive monsters (especially Roy), but it is also easy to defeat them since all they have to do is argue each other to distract them.

Jaune: A mermaid, quite wild and aggressive. Sings to attract all kinds of creatures to the lake and, well, devour them. Lila looks familiar to her but she doesn't remember why.

Aaron: Captain of a ghost ship. Similar to Frank's train, but in his case he only travels across the lake and does not force anyone to join his crew (of which by the way Liv is a member), he spends his nights trying to find Jaune but the curse keeps them separated.

Richard: Harpy, he flyes through the skies of the town looking for any information that may be useful to Carmen. He is along her the king of the mountains.

Dexter literally being 20 rats in a trench coat (or exterminator suit rather) is SO cool!! Also really funny. I like how it also parallels him with his mom, she can flawlessly assume a human form while Dexter, uh... He's trying his best. Him being able to control all the rats is rad too!

Yeah Bob being a wendigo sounds about right. I imagine Ivan has encountered him at least once and has him as top priority on the "find a way to kill/avoid at all costs" list

Immediate thought is the Ceberus Hatz from the SM 6 credits -- usual depictions of chimeras have one head as a lion, another as a goat, and the third as a snake, though looking (briefly) at old art, swapping the snake with a dragon's head wasn't out of the question. I'm gonna assume Roy's the lion, Robert's the goat, and Ross is the snake/dragon (probably snake bc Aaron)

Also- Oh my god Captain Aaron. That is so cool! I also love how that kind of sets him as a foil to Frank, since while they're both the heads of ghost vessels, Frank kidnaps people and just has the train in mind, while Aaron just has his own funky little crew that willingly came aboard and is trying to find his wife. And then he's never able to find her awww :[

(185 (mithrun's age) ÷ 400 (dungeon mesi elf lifespan) = 46.25% of his life spent. ~46% × 70 years (human lifespan world wide (between 68.9men and 73.9women)) = 32.375years old.

But if we went off of 68.9 years instead, he'd be 31.87 years.

But then again, that was worldwide, which includes some poorer countries. In the European Union (equivalent to elf society in my mind because europe is just giving elf to me) it's 77.7men and 83.3women, which would make him 35.94 years.

I would calculate how old he is in tallman years, but I see tallman as the equivalent of us humans, and their lifespan being so short not because of old age, but because it's a more medieval-type life there. Likely, their lifespan would be the same as ours, had they our technological advancements, so I'm assuming tallmans are the same as humans in our world

So our answers for mithrun's irl age is..

32.375 years, 31.87 years, 35.94 years

On average, thought would be 33.395 years old.

Dopo aver scoperto le carte durante la scorsa domenica dell'unboxing oggi, finalmente, scopriremo in super anteprima le meccaniche di Medieval Monster Hunt, gioco da tavolo indipendente realizzato da Hunt Autoproduzioni, che arriverà su kick starter a partire dai primi mesi del 2025.

Medieval Monster Hunt è un board game in cui ci dovremo addentrare in un pericoloso ed oscuro dungeon, per dimostrare di essere i cacciatori di mostri più abili attorno al tavolo: esplorando il dungeon ci troveremo ad affrontare insidie, trappole, ovviamente mostri ma ANCHE le creature più pericolose che infestano i dungeon, gli altri giocatori!

Con delle meccaniche chiare e immediate Medieval Monster Hunt, riesce ad essere un board game estremamente strategico, grazie a diverse intuizioni di game design che Carlo Todeschini, creatore del titolo, ha inserito nel gioco: in pormisi il dover gestire un gruppo di cacciatori, con un numero limitato di equipaggiamenti che di volta in volta decideremo se e come affidare ai vari cacciatori, in secondo luogo i vari oggetti potranno essere equipaggiati solo a determinati cacciatori, due elementi dirimenti durante lo svolgimento della partita. Altra ottima idea è quella di usare le stesse meccaniche di base per i combattimenti contro gli altri giocatori e i mostri, ma con alcune differenze: possibilità di evitare lo scontro con i mostri sacrificando 2 equipaggiamenti, ma obbligatorietà di scontro con gli altri giocatori e soprattutto nell'esito, infatti se negli scontri con i mostri la sconfitta eliminerà un cacciatore dalla disponibilità del giocatore perdente, perdendo contro un altro giocatore il vincente deciderà SE prendere la vita del cacciatore oppure i suoi equipaggiamenti. Piccole intuizioni che diventano molto interessanti nella dinamica di una partita in cui ogni scontro diventa differente, grazie alle possibilità che offrono le tante carte ed i cacciatori presenti nel gioco.

Altro aspetto notevole di Medieval Monster Hunt è la volontà di Hunt Autoproduzioni di evitare un gamedesign macchinoso, offrendo meccaniche chiare e pulite che permettono di godere di un boardgame accessibile a qualunque tipologia di giocatore, aspetto che spesso non considerano le produzioni indipendenti! Sono davvero curioso di scoprire come e se Hunt Autoproduzioni evolverà Medieval Monster Hunt in vista della campagna di crowdfunding, che partirà tra gennaio e febbraio del 2025 e inviti tutti a seguirli sui loro social essere informati su tutti gli sviluppi del titolo.

FESTIVALETTERATURA DI MANTOVA, VIDEOGIOCHI e DUNGEONS & DRAGONS

Quest'anno il Festivaletteratura di Mantova 2024 ha deciso di dedicare uno spazio esclusivo a tutti gli amanti del celebre gioco di ruolo fantasy Dungeons & Dragons. Da da mercoledì 4 settembre 2024 a domenica 8 settembre 2024 sarà possibile giocare alcune storie originali scritte per l’occasione da autori e autrici presenti a Mantova: Fabio Geda, Marino Niola, Fiore Manni e Michele Monteleone, Marco Malvaldi e Samantha Bruzzone. Sotto l’esperta guida dei dungeon master dell’associazione Amici Ludici, ciascuno potrà sedersi e svestire i panni di comune cittadino per indossare quelli di un bardo, di una guerriera o di un paladino. Lo spazio D&D sarà aperto da mercoledì 4 a domenica 8 settembre. Per poter giocare è necessario acquistare il biglietto nella fascia oraria desiderata. I turni di gioco saranno mercoledì 4 e giovedì 5 ore 16:00 / 21:00 – venerdì 6 ore 10:00 / 16:00 – sabato 7 ore 10:00 / 16:00 / 21:00 – domenica 8 ore 10:00 / 16:00. Le partite avranno una durata variabile, tra le due e le tre ore. Si prega di arrivare sul luogo dell’evento almeno 10 minuti prima dell’inizio.

Il Festivaletteratura dedicaherà anche due incontri con l'autore al tema videogiochi.

Il primo incontro è THE LAST OF US E LO SPIRITO DEL TEMPO con Lorenzo Fantoni e si terrà alle ore 21:00 in Piazza Leon Battista Alberti, ingresso libero, il giorno venerdì 6 settembre.
