I demand an AU where Laios' leg gets fucking crunched during the Red Dragon Battle (re-attachment impossible), and Marcille practices the whole necro-magic first by givin' him a new leg! With Red Dragon Blood/Flesh, he also gets put under the same command as Falin, except since it's only a leg, the curse slowly becomes more and more powerful until the eventual transformation above!!! :D AKA Ah Fuck, Took Too Long Overthrowing the Dungeon Lord, Get Monster'd. Lion + Red Dragon, because I like it. Laios would think it's cool, too, so there. The trade of Cool Monster is Sense of Self / Consciousness eroding into nothing (monster body, monster brain), though, so he's basically on an extra timer to stop/overthrow the Dungeon Lord, or experience a kind of death of sorts. Random idea I had to get outta my head, y'know?

The real question about Modern/IRL AU Laios isn't if he would be really into furries and monsters, it's if he would also still be into weird food. Because like, in canon those two things are linked, he can have his monster hyperfixation and eat it too, but if he were in the real world he can't exactly eat a griffin or dragon. So would he also be into trying the weirdest food he can find? Or is the enthusiastic about monster food thing fully contingent on being in a world where you CAN eat monsters, and if taken out of that world it would go away and he'd be content with microwave pizza and making three hour long videos about the history of various mythological creatures.

Kabumisu vampire AU

Vampire hunter Kabru, whose village was destroyed when a vampire warlord razed it to the ground, meets vampire Mithrun, who lost everything when he was turned into a vampire by the same warlord. They both want revenge. Mithrun is an outcast for wanting to kill his maker, and he's barely alive when Kabru finds him. Kabru sees the potential in him, and suggests that they work together.

Mithrun becomes Kabru's partner, his weapon that he uses against other vampires and monsters. Other vampires look down on Mithrun, they call him a pet, a tool, a race traitor. Other hunters think Kabru is crazy to trust Mithrun, but he does trust him. They have an understanding. They work well together, and become famous as an unstoppable team.

At first, it's cold and pragmatic, but Kabru is incapable of being unkind to someone, and Mithrun slowly learns to feel something other than rage and pain under Kabru's care. He finds himself looking forward to every day because Kabru is by his side.

Mithrun mostly feeds on animal blood, but once in awhile, to keep his strength up, Kabru lets him drink his blood. Mithrun doesn't eat regular food anymore, but he makes sure that Kabru eats regularly, because Kabru is very prone to forgetting. They take care of each other.

They make love tenderly by candlelight and cuddle afterwards. Kabru tells Mithrun that when they've gotten their revenge, they can find someplace quiet to live together, where nobody will bother them, and nobody has to know Mithrun is a vampire. Mithrun hasn't wanted anything since he was turned, but slowly, he starts to want that future that Kabru keeps promising him.

Mithrun cries for the first time in hundreds of years when he thinks Kabru has died. He thinks about having to go on without Kabru, and the tears start flowing uncontrollably.

Mithrun's senses are enhanced as a vampire, and so he loves Kabru's scent and taste. He's constantly stealing and wearing his clothing at every opportunity, because it makes him feel good to be surrounded by the familiar scent. It feels like home.

modern au izutsumi but she's the victim of a cold case from like 10 years ago involving kidnapped children and she was apart of an illegal underground freak show but bc of her status as a beastman a lot of laws didn't apply to her so she was just sort of left to the wayside and shoved into a foster home with absolutely 0 tools to help her and she escaped her foster home at 14 where she met senshi and he unofficially adopted her

the guy who turned her into a beastman was never caught, hence the cold case comment, but the freakshow ppl were arrested. izutsumi does not know about any of this and just kinda moved on. her status as evidence of two crimes and sort of a missing person and also there being 0 evidence of her existence is just kind of a silly fun fact about her. ykno. her secret backstory absolutely no one knows about. they just think she's senshi's silly adopted daughter.

when ppl ask about her all senshi says is like. that one scene from the looney tunes show where bugs is describing how he met daffy.

taking a little break from writing for a few days to cool down the brain but first... yaad&thistle au fic preview under the cut. this is clocking in at 12k atm, i haven't finished drafting all the scenes yet, but i am deeply enjoying this one.

A few weeks ago I was chatting with some friends about Chronicles of Narnia, and eventually the conversation pivoted to be about the botch that was The Last Battle. And with the Dungeon Meshi anime having recently gotten to Mithrun, it gave me an idea for a sort of crossover AU. (Spoilers for the manga under the cut for anime-only watchers)

The idea is that a long time ago, the Pevensie siblings were playing in the woods and discovered an out of place lamppost. And nearby they stumbled across the entrance of a dungeon, ruled by its Dungeon Lord the White Witch who used terrifying ice and petrification magic. This dungeon's incarnation of the Demon was a Lion, and the Lion recognized that children's desires are powerful and many, as well as having minds and hearts that are easily manipulated and molded. And so the Lion aided the Pevensie siblings in overthrowing the White Witch, and the four of them became co-Dungeon Lords. Their desires transforming the dungeon into a whimsical underground kingdom filled with talking monsters, and the siblings grew up together down there with their "subjects". Until adventurers also discovered the dungeon, and through a series of tragic events, one by one each of the Dungeon Lords were defeated until only Susan remained. Barricading herself deep within the lowest reaches of the dungeon, she realizes how the Lion had manipulated her and her siblings. Susan then makes another discovery: that the White Witch's magic wasn't two different types of magic, it was one. Entropy. Consuming heat and life from living things around her to create ice, and living things that were completely drained becoming completely inert like stone. And Entropy is the enemy of Infinity. An enemy of the Lion. So Susan pours herself into the study of the White Witch's magic, and takes up the mantle herself. Now filled with a new desire to freeze over every dungeon she finds, to consume all the life energy and mana within to try and starve out the Lion. Susan surrenders herself to the Canaries, and Mithrun actually allows her to join despite the fact she is a tallman since he simply views her as a useful tool for his own desire of killing the Demon. The other Canaries are annoyed not just because she's a tallman, but also because thanks to her magic it is constantly cold around her and they have to wear winter coats everywhere they go. Except Lycion, he's pretty chill with Susan since he can grow his own fur coat whenever he wants.

along with the whump thoughts, it made me think of the trope that’s like. cuddle/fuck spores, and what are the evolutionary implications of that. imagining a really cute ship scene of two characters and then the hurt part with one or both falling ill due to the effects, whatever they might be. (hell, could even end up being real kinky somehow, i have more thoughts but i won’t share unless you’re cool with it )

imagine a strain of spores that invade your system and can never be fully flushed out, so they periodically reinfect their host? like, uh. whatsit. SHINGLES!

imagine someone who was infected years ago, maybe one of the first to get infected by this strain before it was all but wiped out by counter measures, and they have no idea that it's still in their system. what happens when they're alone, maybe on a mission somewhere (stakeout? solitary confinement?? perhaps even in enemy territory, who knows, endless possibilities), and the stress triggers the symptoms again.

or, like... what if an infection of, say, cuddle pollen alters the person's tolerance for space permanently? what if they used to be able to cruise through life a little bit touch starved and it was okay, but now if they go more than a day or two without human contact it starts to feel like they can't function?

then there's the classic fic trope of "someone who is high on pollen needs their fix SO BAD that they're willing to hurt themselves to get it" aka pulling on restraints until they dislocate something or walk barefoot across broken glass, that sort of thing. i do love me a fic like that...

SVSS Fic Rec List

I figured I'd make a fic rec list for the Scum Villain fics I've been reading lately, since that's been a large portion of my recent fic reading. It's 90% Luo Binghe/Shen Yuan, I am a simple woman. (I'm calling SQQ Shen Yuan for this list and original!SQQ Shen Jiu, to avoid confusion.)

Multichapter Fics:

Run For Cover--Modern setting, Shen Yuan summons a dangerous demon. Quite a bit of attempted murder!!! 56k.

If Marriage Was an Olympic Sport--Shen Yuan gets wifeplotted into a marriage hunt. Binghe, fresh out of the abyss, joins the fun. 34k.

Tarnished Gold--Binghe schemes against Gongyi-Xiao!Shen Yuan, and tries not to catch feelings. Immensely slow burn but I was living for it. 118k.

Heartbreak and Other Foreplay--Modern setting, Luo Binghe mistakes Shen Yuan for Shen Jiu and seduces him with revenge in mind. The misunderstanding doesn't last too long but it does cause some chaos. Also, this AU still has cultivation (and, notably, dual cultivation). 108k.

raised by winter winds--Shen Yuan transmigrates into a random Qing Jing disciple and becomes Shen Jiu's head disciple (their relationship is a complicated mess). When Luo Binghe arrives, he asks if he can take Luo Binghe as a pet. 35k.

you are who you love--Shen Yuan gets selective amnesia and forgets about Binghe post-canon. Binghe must seduce him in order to cure said amnesia the same way PIDW cures everything. 38k.

Tongfang--Shen Yuan transmigrates into a sickly young master who canonically is supposed to be a murder victim. Binghe is loaned out by Cang Qiong to work there seasonally. 24k.

Oneshots Or Short Enough I'm Pretending They're Oneshots:

Imposter Syndrome--Shen Yuan, Luo Binghe, Shang Qinghua, Liu Qingge, and Yue Qingyuan run into a doppelganger situation (Dungeon Meshi style, apparently, but easy to understand if you haven't watched Dungeon Meshi--I haven't). 11k.

petal and vine--Plant!Shen Yuan with amnesia, after Huayue City. 5k.

right from the start, i gave you my heart--Jinlan City confrontations grow more complicated when Shen Yuan gets pollened by an obedience curse flower. 11k.

I Want You To Be Happier--Shen Yuan gets full blown amnesia in Jinlan City. Binghe claims they're married and runs away with him. 12k.

Medical Diplomacy--Post-Abyss Binghe finagles an arranged marriage with Shen Yuan, leveraging that he can cure Without a Cure. 12k.

Consanguine--Prince!Shen Yuan and now-Emperor!Luo Binghe (they're siblings... sort of) are reunited after some misunderstandings of the past.

suno to zaraa ye phoolon ki vaadi--Plant!Shang Qinghua after Shang Qinghua gets killed, but he starts out as a tiny small child due to some miscalculations. Rare Mobei-jun/Shang Qinghua fic on this list!! 9k.

Cold Hands, Warm Heart--Unable to use spiritual power and stranded in the middle of nowhere, Mobei-jun has to watch while Shang Qinghua gets worsening hypothermia. The h/c is incredible. 16k. Once again MobeiShang!!! 16k.

Plastromancy--Shen Yuan is the Other Shizun in a sort of a Coraline AU. 16k.
