The Shadowhand
"The Bright Queen nods towards you and glances over towards one of the nearby male drow figures sitting to the right of the dais. Very handsome, head held high, looking down upon this with a curious glance. A similar mantle to what you noticed Lythir wearing, but much more elaborate. You can see the robes that he's wearing that pretty much entirely obscure the body. They just fall, they go entirely around the mantle and close in the front so it's this beautiful, draped, deep purple and black robe that completely obfuscates the body. "

I love all of the "Essek respectfully inspects Ashton's brain" takes. But I would like to offer an alternative.
"Morally dubious disaster wizards trying their best when presented with temptation."

The time rabbit herself
Chronurgy wizards have such potential to be tragic and doomed by the narrative and I don’t think we talk about it enough

This fight is hilarious, they aren't even fighting Ludinus they're just fighting physics! Dunamancy is awesome! Them repeatedly being sucked into a black hole is peak comedy, and also very stressful. Great storytelling multitasking Matt!

Really can't wait for Essek to realize what is sloshing around in Ashton's head.

Concept for my party member's new warforged, Stargazer. Made with the intent to house the soul of his maker, essentially an artificer's own way of attempting lichdom, Stargazer gained consciousness instead and travels the world being a proper fancypants and confusing all with his German accent

wait because what is going to happen if one of the gods gets reborn in the kryn dynasty.
Some poor little dynasty kid is going to reach puberty/anamnesis and start hearing the thoughts of both a random beacon soul and a whole ass divine being? Just like voices fighting in their head style? Can you imagine?
Plus the added intrigue of the dynasty being generally hostile or at least uncaring towards the divine and divinity. What an interesting mess of a person and story that would create!!
Or maybe in the act of a soul being reincarnated into a new body by a beacon would prevent a god from being reincarnated into that same body? And if that’s the case, would the dynasty be the only 100% confirmed god-free place on exandria? Would people flock there because of it? Or avoid it entirely? So many possibilities!!!!!!!

Hold up! Stumbled upon this on a post comparing Essek C2 vs C3 and THIS just jumped off of the page and smacked me in the face:
Tumblr media
Original Post
Essek "My Partner" Thelyss, who so easily could've been a big bad, side by side with Ludinus if the M9 hadn't saved him... Believes the beacons were created in the Age of Arcanum.
The M9 found evidence of dunamancy and beacon symbols in Aeor.
Ludinus is using beacons to help power the Malleus Key and gave Otahan a harness feeding her distilled dunamancy.
Was dunamancy somehow part of the plan in the Age of Arcanum to destroy/replace the gods?

It’s interesting that in recent episodes of CR there was a bit of insight into Ashton’s memory issues that he mentions repeatedly during the early episodes of the campaign. Where they’re iffy on showing the Hells people he knows because he can’t remember if their current relation is good or sour.
I think it’s due in part to their dreams - Ashton recently admitted that his dreams are not only fucked up, but are of alternate realities.
Of course he’d have memory issues. The poor fucker is having hyperrealistic dreams about themself and real people they know in alternate realities, and that can be so confusing even without a TBI.
Doubting your own memories and confusing them with dreams is absolutely terrifying.

I'm thinking about the implications of c3e96 @3:07:30 when they're inspecting the blue time domes and Ashton says they glow blue when time slows down and red when time speeds up. Redshift is when a light's wavelength is long and its frequency is low. Blueshift is the opposite - short wavelength makes for higher frequency. So if we apply storytime to real world physics, magic is like an equalizer. Removing a lot of energy creates blue light and causes the target to move slowly.
Here's where this breaks down. Removing just some energy (creating redshift light) should not cause the target to speed up. The narrative choice must be from color theory, then. Blue is associated with cold, ice, slow. Hot is associated with hot, fire, fast.
Shut up D, it's just a tv show.
