BALITANG LOKAL: Dumagueteño Mayor 'Ipe Remollo' to end final term, awaiting new leadership candidates at the PH Mid-term Elections 2025 [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
Tumblr media
(Written by Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / Freelance News Writer, Online Media Reporter and News Presenter of OneNETnews)
DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- As the Philippine mid-term elections draw near this 2025, Dumaguete City Mayor named Mr. Felipe Antonio 'Ipe' Buscato Remollo will end his last term in office coming next year. Marked by his leadership, he had also sat at the helm from 1998 to 2001, and this time from 2016 until now in the present day. Serving the people of Dumaguete has three (3) terms lined up, he will retire at the end of a momentous cycle for the Dumagueteños.
This was the current term as a Mayor himself, where Dumaguete City has under its experience massive large-scale infrastructures towards better living condition in the city, which promotes fast economic growth. Specifically, better results were through bridges and road networks as vital infrastructures. In envisioning the administration, it could be seen by the phrase "Lupad Dumaguete", or creating a living community that is cultured for urban renewal and professional governance.
Soon to assume, the local City Councilor position 'Manny Arbuyes Arbon' looks back at an unforgettable legacy of Ipe Remollo, during an exclusive ambush interview last Monday night (November 4th, 2024 -- Dumaguete local time) at the Persons with Disability (PWD) gathering in 'Brgy. Bajumpandan': "I am really looking forward for his success, moving up in his congressional level", Arbon remarked.
Rumors in the breeze whether 'Ipe Remollo' wants his son to succeed him at the end of his term. Below are updates about Atty. Felipe Claudio 'Dio' Remollo, former Chief Political Affairs Officer for House Speaker 'Martin Gomez Romualdez, who had himself specialized and mentored barangay officials on their capacities to stand up for women and the marginalized groups.
His potential candidacy is viewed by many as a continuation of his father's legacy and a hopeful future for Dumaguete City. If Dio is successfully elected in next year's mid-term elections, OneNETnews can exclusively reveal the scoop on us that the "Lupad Dumaguete" slogan may soon evolve into "Lupad Probinsya", which is being considered as the working slogan for next year.
Our new leadership with an improvement-carrying continuation will be life-changing journeys for the residents of Dumaguete within the elections tally, especially since this timing is extremely crucial in the future. Around a month ago in October, the Commission of Elections (COMELEC) already announced its time frame for next year's elections, with the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) to be finalized who were battling against our local politicians such as Teves and the like.

#ProtectDumagueteCoast #Noto174Dumaguete ⚔️ #SAVEOUROCEANS PROTECT MARINE LIFE! NO MORE PLASTICS!! ⚔️🌊 Recently, Dumagueteños are in an uproar in response to the irresponsible government trying to impose a reclamation area that would KILL & DESTROY the last corals and marine life left. 🐠🐟⚔️🐋🐬 We must stand together to STOP the desecration of our lands and seas. It's bad enough that every time I swim or snorkel nowadays, I end up collecting plastic trash that is destroying coral, fish and other marine life. The plastic situation is so dire that #microplastics are now being detected in our foods, drinking waters, and even placentas of unborn babies! We need to be creating solutions, not problems for the next generations. We are responsible for either the destruction or protection of the earth and seas, and most of all, ourselves.🗡️ The United States is the biggest producer of plastic waste in the world. Contaminating every ecosystem, it is felt most in the oceans of other lands, especially throughout Asia. In the Philippines, one of the biggest pollution problems here are the plastic wrappers, single-use sachets, packaging materials, and now surgical face masks that end up as floating garbage. More than ever, we need sustainability now! Join the actions from #WalaUsik #ZeroWaste #FoodNotBombs to the #CommunityPantry movement ⚔️🌿 We must support the urgent calls by marine biologists, environmentalists, educators, and locals to #PROTECTMOTHEREARTH ⚔️ Global warming is only getting worse, and our only defense against this atrocity and #sealevelsrising in our lifetimes is to nurture Mother Earth, plant MORE trees #StopDeforestation, Protect #Mangroves #StopBlackSandMining #CoalFreeNegros #BanPlastic #SaveOurSeas and #PROTECTMARINELIFE 🌏⚔️🌿 #SurvivalArts supports local efforts from youth & grassroots groups like @walausik.tiangge @danjuganisland @prrcfi @yeyinitiative @youthforclimatehope @youthstrike4climateph @mangrovemattersph @kabanatanph @[email protected] WE DEMAND #CLIMATEJUSTICE!! More than 240 stranded NegOr residents return home
#PHnews: More than 240 stranded NegOr residents return home
DUMAGUETE CITY – More than 240 residents of Negros Oriental arrived on board two sweeper flights that landed at the Sibulan-Dumaguete airport Tuesday morning.
The passengers were a mix of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
The first flight arrived at 11:20 a.m. with 85 passengers, of whom 39 are OFWs and the rest LSIs. The second flight carried 156 passengers that arrived at past noon, carrying mostly OFWs.
Hospital Command System ground commander, Dr. Liland Estacion, a team of doctors and nurses, and city and provincial tourism officers, received the returnees.
Estacion said the OFWs from the different municipalities will have to stay put at the airport arrival area until they are fetched by their respective LGUs.
In the absence of a master list for all OFWs that arrived, the task force had given Philippine Airlines (PAL) locator forms for the passengers to fill out.
The LSIs and the OFWs thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and the national Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) for allowing them to go back home.
Meanwhile, the Australian and American embassies had organized two sweeper flights to fetch their respective nationals in the Visayas back to their respective countries.
City Tourism Officer Jacqueline Antonio said the same aircraft that brought the more than 240 OFWs and LSIs here will transport the foreign nationals on the return flights to Manila.
One of the planes had a side trip to Tagbilaran, Bohol to fetch more or less 50 Australian and American nationals before flying to Manila.
Antonio said she was tasked by Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo to facilitate the trips of the foreign nationals, including their travel documents.
Veloso said these passengers were on vacation in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental for longer periods, some of them businessmen and permanent retirees but would want to visit their respective countries.
Meanwhile, the city tourism officer confirmed that around 600 Dumagueteños who were stranded in different parts of the country have registered online to go back to the city.
She said their office is in the process of making arrangements and coordination with LGUs where they are stranded for them to return home by batches, on a first-come, first-served basis provided they agree with the mandatory 14-day quarantine period in designated isolation facilities.
Under the new guidelines, the only requirement is for the LSI to present only a medical certificate from the LGU where he or she is stranded and a travel authority without necessarily undergoing a swab test.
Upon arrival, however, the LSI will have to be swabbed or undergo a rapid diagnostic test (RDT).
Another provision that was removed from among the requirements is the certificate of acceptance from the local government units concerned.
Antonio further said LSIs who prefer to stay in private hotels will have to spend for their food and accommodation at a government-designated hotel where discounts are offered.
However, for LSIs who want to stay in the isolation facility of the city, food is provided for free, she said. (PNA)

BALITANG LOKAL: Coffee in Fast Food Establishments runs out of Morning Brew in Dumaguete City, supposedly paring either Breakfast or Snack menus [#OnlyOnOneNETnews]
Tumblr media
Originally published on September 23rd, 2024 due to technical difficulties.
DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- Coffee enthusiasts in Dumaguete City are dealing with an unexpected issue lately. Both KFC and Chowking have announced that they’ve run out of coffee on their breakfast menus. This shortage has disappointed many customers, as coffee is an essential part of breakfast for a lot of Filipinos, which best paired with meals and/or snacks.
Our news team at OneNETnews conducted a survey on the early mid-September of 2024 that shows the coffee menu reportedly out of stock at their locations in this said city for KFC and Chowking. Around two weekends ago via Robinsons Place Dumaguete in Brgy. Calindagan of Negros Oriental, one cashier staff said they had been substituting Coke Floats for coffee orders in the afternoon, while Chowking had voided coffee orders altogether. The cause of this scarcity is not known. Whether restaurants have set any dates to restock the facilities or any form of reason to explain why these were taken out indefinitely cannot be confirmed.
Dumagueteño customers expressed their dissatisfaction. Many are venting out in the social media site 'Facebook' (owned by Meta Platforms Inc. [MPi]). Some are already looking for alternative sources, other coffee shops such as Starbucks and McDonald's McCafe, to quench their needs for coffee.
We reached out to both KFC and Chowking through Messenger, as well as e-mail correspondent of messages have been left without responses because the companies refused to answer questions on the alleged shortage of their coffee. For now, adrenaline junkies of the City of Gentle People will just have to look elsewhere for their caffeine fix.
While KFC and Chowking work on resolving their coffee supply issues either local or the national side, customers are encouraged to explore other local coffee shops to get their morning coffee fix.

Buglas Sidlakan Negros Oriental It's been a blessing to discover the east side of this island. The last time I was here was 19 years old, when my mom brought us on travel adventures, swimming and discovering Apo Island with our cousins. Now with my beloved, we take time to understand where we're at, exploring the Motherland with reverence together. Coming to this side of the island during a pandemic meant following strict protocols and preparing travel requirements to cross checkpoints across borders. It meant expecting that most places were closed and recovering. Like the Dumagueteños and mga Negrosanon we met, we've slowed down a lot, but the spirit of resilience keeps us all going. Grateful to see Mount Talinis from this view, and spend some time healing with the sea. الحمد لله Shot by @delosphoto Dauin, Negros Oriental, Visayas, Philippines June 2021 . . . #Philippines #Visayas #NegrosOriental #Dauin #dronephotography #delosphoto #lovejamiebx #SurvivalArts (at Negros Oriental, Philippines) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQSxL2_g0nQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
