Oh, you have a Narnia OC? You have a Daughter of Eve Princess OC, and a pretty leafy dryad OC, and a strong noble centaur OC, and a capering foresty faun OC?
Who among you is going to cop to having a Dufflepud OC?

VDT 9
--
Strangely familiar,
The clipped green lawn stretches on
Across foreign soil.
Silence is king here
Beneath deep garden shadows
Until babble comes.
The deep uncanny peace is broken now
By thumping, cheering, eager enemies.
A spear is thrown, sweat gathers on your brow.
There's just one this to do if you would please:
Invisible men
Require enchantment lifted
By a braver girl.
A fine country house
Shelters fell magician's book
In bright summer heat.
The quest and spell are frightful for the child they mean
To recruit, but perhaps old hat for a titled valiant queen.

the brainspace that should be devoted to like. the education i spent years getting or perhaps being able to remember basic events that have happened during my life (i have discovered that i am not too good at this) instead serves me by allowing me to recall the name of the one-footed denizens of an island encountered in voyage of the dawn treader. we stan the monopods

im watching the voyage of the dawn treader as I type this and one thing that bugs me to death is how eustace is treated by the narnians after he arrives in narnia.
like not a single one them is friendly or welcoming to him the minute he steps on the ship. yeah sure he throws a shouting fit about wanting to know wherever the hell he is and sure a minotaur tells him and he faints whatever but if i were in his shoes I would probably be reacting the same way and would want to know where I am too but like no one tries to explain to him where he is or tries to comfort him. all they do is laugh or shout back at him. not one of them realizes he’s a fish out of water. that he’s new to their world. it’s like they kinda assume he should know where he is being he arrived with his cousins edmund and lucy. but on a side note, he is their cousin so shouldnt they be treating him with a little more decency in some respect?
like it’s honestly quite sad seeing eustace be treated like he’s nothing more than an annoying squealing pig when his cousins are literally royalty and are treated as such. like it’s so disheartening to watch at times. for example when the minotaur makes fun of him for talking to a bird thinking it could talk or when everyone leaves him snoring on the beach when lucy is taken by dufflepuds or when caspian acts slightly annoyed to hand him a knife to defend himself with after they arrive on the slavetrader island or worse when caspian has the audacity to say “and your certain he’s related by blood?” i was like “woah dude, that was a low blow” i’m sorry but just because he acts like he has know idea what he’s doing or is confused beyond all reason doesn’t mean you get to question his familial ties to edmund and lucy bruh. no just no.
however. i do understand that eustace is made to be annoying, grumpy, snobbish, logical, and a pain for edmund and lucy to deal with but that shouldn’t mean he needs to be treated like shit by narnians who frankly worship his cousins for saving them from 1) a one-hundred year winter and 2) extinction. like I know he hasn’t done anything spectacular for you guys yet but he’s still related to “royalty”. TREAT HIM AS SUCH OR SOMETHING MODERATELY CLOSE TO IT. plz and thx.
anyways. eustace deserves to be treated better in my opinion. the rude behavior that everybody displays towards him upsets me terribly. like I get it that he’s supposed be annoying but it’s not like the narnians know him like edmund and lucy do. the least they could’ve done was to make him feel welcome. ugh it bothers me.

19 for the writer asks!
19. Why did you start writing?
Since I was little, I wanted to be a writer. Somewhere along the line, though, life got in the way. I hadn’t picked up a notebook for years when Stranger Things s4 happened.
Then, I didn’t really have a choice; I figured I could either cry nonstop over Chrissy and Eddie for the next year, or I could stick out my tongue at the Dufflepuds and write C&E my own version of a future where they got to live and be happy. I had no idea I’d still be here one entire year and nearly 14 fics later, but I’m having a great time and fic #15 is in the planning stages right now. So… thanks, Duffers?
And thank YOU for asking! 😍

Cruising Caspian’s Seas (not a spelling mistake)
So, I have been following an entertaining thread in one of my Goodreads groups. Someone asked, “Just for fun, if you could visit one setting of a Sci-Fi or Fantasy book for a day, which would you choose and why?”
There were some great suggestions, like the Shire, Wall, to visit the fair every nine years, Rivendell, Arrakis, San Francisco in the Star Trek universe and a lot more, that if I’m honest, I didn’t get and had to Google.
This reminded me of the FAQs I answered when I first set up my Goodreads author page…
Q: If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
A: Robin Tompkins That’s a tricky question. Most of the fictional places I engage with, tend to be great to read about but probably not the best places to actually visit. It’s a bit obvious of me but I would perhaps say Narnia? Not White Witch era Narnia though. Perhaps they are running Dawn Treader cruises now? Nice, comfy, all-inclusive ones, with a good buffet and a nice bar? I’d probably do that.
Which got me thinking about what that cruise would be like exactly…
Tumblr media
Join us on our latest island-hopping cruise,
In the Footsteps of the Dawn Treader
Cruising on either MS Cair Paravel or MS Queen Lucy, identical sister ships recently refurbished to the highest standards. Facilities include: two pools, sauna, spa, gym and fitness centre. Five restaurants, eight bars, movie theatre, planetarium and enclosed observation deck.
Itinerary:
Depart Cair Paravel docks on an early morning sailing into the Great Eastern Ocean.
The Lone Islands
Plenty of time to visit the bustling local markets and get a bite to eat at one of the many fine restaurants, or, if you prefer, the street food scene here is a lively one.
Optional Tour
Guided excursion to the Ducal Palace (former Governor’s residence) and a chance to hear about the darker side of the island’s history, with a visit to the Museum of Slavery. Entrance to both included.
Dragon Island
A small but lovely island with an interesting past. Simply relax on the beach or at one of the many cool beach bars. Local speciality is a cocktail made with fermented palm sap called a “Hot Dragon,” (two shots) or a “Warm Dragon,” (one shot).
Optional Tour
Locally guided tour to the Dragon’s Cave. Marvel at the life size animatronic dragon and see the actual dragon bones in the small museum. The museum shop is a great place to pick up souvenirs, they have dragon themed gifts to suit all budgets, from key rings and fridge magnets to gigantic and wonderfully cuddly plushies!
Deathwater Island
An unremarkable looking little island with quite the secret. Purchase one of the sweet little key ring sized teddy bears from the gift shop at the docks and follow our experienced guide up to “The Pool.” Please, Please, stay behind the line and listen to your guide at all times, it’s for your own safety. Watch, as the local custodian takes your teddies for a dip in the pool and returns them to you, now made from solid gold!
Duffer’s Island
The friendly locals will make you very welcome. There is plenty to see and do here and the restaurants are superb. However, you might want to be aware of this comment that we snipped from “Trip Advisor.”
“The Dufflepuds could not have been more welcoming. Lovely restaurant, decorated in the island style with curios everywhere and a great ambience. The food is to die for but don’t make my mistake, you have to remember the local’s mode of locomotion here people… Don’t order the soup, don’t order the soup or any, and I mean any, hot beverage… oh yes, and no red wine either, don’t go there, trust me.”
Optional Tour
Guided visit to the Magician’s Palace and two hour “introduction to simple spell casting” lesson with a registered second year apprentice magician.
The Dark Island
Unfortunately, due to new international maritime guidelines and certain well publicised incidents that you may be aware of, we no longer take parties ashore here. It is still a spectacular and mysterious site as we sail by though.
The Island of the Star
There is a wealth of information available at the visitor centre here and in the “Sleeping Lords” Museum. Star spotters though need to be cautious, as Ramandu and his lovely daughter understandably, do not like people turning up unannounced at their gates. There are however, a number of lovely items that they have been gracious enough to trap a little starlight in, available in the gift shop. These range from earrings and necklaces, through to tiny bottles of starlight and snow globes. Proceeds from the sale of these items benefit local charities.
Merpeople Fiesta
At the edge of the “Sweet Seas” we anchor up. Your ship will hold a spectacular gala party with fireworks and dancing. It’s Merpeople themed, and costumes are available in our onboard shop. For that authentic touch, why not barter with the actual Merpeople who will swim out to the ship in the afternoon? They love to trade for their hand made trinkets, sustainably made from coral and shells.
Only the Brave
If you are brave enough, the ship’s launch can take a small party out onto the Lily Sea to get a better look at the Reepicheep memorial and the Great Wave. The really intrepid can take out a two-man kayak with one of our expert guides and get even closer. Please note that the line of lion headed buoys marks the international Aslan Line and your guide cannot take you beyond that point in line with maritime law. Please be aware that places are limited on this excursion, it’s first come first served, so register early.
A Fond Farewell?
For those on the Short Package, we sadly must say farewell. You will portal back via picture/wardrobe to your original joining point. *
The party is not over yet for those clients who opted for the Full Package. Your ship will now return to Narnia Cair Paravel Docks via a limited stop reverse of the outward route. There will be more days at sea but that is all the more time to enjoy the wonderful facilities and “me time” available on your lavishly appointed cruise ship.
Here be Sea Serpents
You may have noticed on your maps an area near Deathwater Island marked “Here be Sea Serpents.” The reverse route will take in this enigmatic ocean area and if you are lucky and we usually are (management cannot guarantee sightings) you will be able to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. For your own safety, we recommend viewing from the enclosed observation deck, where our resident serpent expert will be on hand to answer all of your questions.
Cair Paravel and Sadly we Must Say Goodbye
Upon docking at our final destination, we include a tour of the castle and a farewell luncheon in the main hall. After which we say goodbye as you portal home via picture/wardrobe to your original joining point, * your mind brimming with happy memories. See you next year?
*Please note some clients may need to change at the “Wood Between the Worlds” interchange before travelling on to your original joining point. Royal Narnia Lines representatives will be on hand to safely guide you through the process.

What do you think? Who wants to come with me?
PS: For any Narnia super fans who have stumbled upon this, it is not meant to knock or mock the series in any way, I love the work of C S Lewis too, it’s all just in fun OK?

@headspace-hotel Yes, that's a really devastating concept for the children's return in Prince Caspian.
My mother and I both always found the image of all the unexplored pools in the Wood Between the Worlds exciting.
Are you thinking of the Telmarines? The Telmarines came through a portal on an island. The Archenlanders are descended from King Frank V's second son and his followers. The Calormenes are descended from Archenlander bandits.
Yes, there are Roman gods in Narnia, like Bacchus and Silenus, not to mention all the river gods, wood gods, nymphs and fauns. C.S. Lewis considered paganism the precursor to ecstatic Christian spirituality and didn't have an issue with nature gods subordinate to Capital G God.
Yes, stars in Narnia are sentient. The protagonists meet Ramandu, a resting star, and Coriakin, a somewhat fallen star, in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, as well as Ramandu's daughter, who appears to be half human since she's said to have the blood of the stars in her veins rather than to be one herself (unlike in the 2010 movie, where she's a star and named Liliandil). Ramandu's daughter marries Caspian and is the mother of Rilian; she's murdered by the Lady of the Green Kirtle's serpent form. In The Last Battle, the protagonists see all the star-people come down to earth at the end of the world.
@queen-of-carven-stone Lucy or Susan didn't almost marry a star. Are you thinking of when Lucy was forced by the Dufflepuds to go into that manor and reverse the invisibility spell cast on them (by themselves) after they were changed from regular dwarfs called Duffers into monopods by the magician Coriakin, who is a former star being punished for prideful ways by having to govern foolish subjects? There was no forced marriage aspect, though.
I'm not sure whether I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in book form first or saw the 1989 TV serial first. The 1989-1990 TV serials of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair were very faithful to the books and I recommend seeing them if you're able to, actually. Most scenes are transferred straight from the page to the screen. Great imagery, intros and music, too, very mysterious and evocative, and I can still hear the music as we speak. The same composer did the Brideshead Revisited TV serial, Geoffrey Burgon. I especially loved the winged panther and cockatrice in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor) played Puddleglum in The Silver Chair. Warwick Davis (Willow in Willow and Nikabrik in the 2008 Prince Caspian film) played Reepicheep in Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, as well as Glimfeather in The Silver Chair.
narnia has actually way too many completely devastating concepts in it that are not explored At All

I had a dream last night that was a crossover between Gotham and the Drew Carey Show and somehow it was even weirder than that sounds
Oswald Cobblepot fled Gotham and came to Cleveland I guess. He and Drew were roommates in the same apartment. But then Drew somehow got taken to another world like I don't even know Narnia but the weird parts with the Dufflepuds or Lilliput or something and I think Oswald did too but they were separated. Then Drew makes it back and he's been gone so long that Mimi Bobek has moved into his apartment. Norm from Cheers is their neighbor and he won $100,000 in the lottery and gave Drew $7k to cover his back due rent. Oswald got turned into a cat somehow and my cat Nebula was there and since they were both black cats there was some confusion while sorting the mail and figuring out who gets what.
So that was a little weird

Look, Will is heavily implied/stated to have got True Sight from being in the Upside Down, and the implication is that Hopper escaped the lab explosion through the Russians' Gate, so if the brothers Duffer are feeling especially kindly and generous towards me, they could also saddle him with some minor, not particularly useful, but completely undeniable psychic ability. Please. He would be like a cat in socks about it and it would bring joy and delight to my miserable shriveled little heart.
