Log 1. 10/15

Porky advised me to begin keeping logs. He says these new batches of experiments are supposed to be more.. ‘complicated’. I was unsure of what he meant, until he brought them in. They're kids, no older than seven or eight. They have a family, and friends. I can't believe I'm about to do this.

1b, or ‘Claus’ seems much more aggressive than the other. It even tried to attack me.

The other one, 2b, or ‘Lucas’ seems much less likely to initiate anything. Every time I try to speak with it, it backs away in fear. I am unsure what to do about this.

The two seem to be fraternal twins, with an extremely strong bond. Separating the two has seemed nearly impossible. I'm thinking that exposing them to older experiments may help them adjust. They're being placed in the white room. It has all the essentials they need.

As much as I love Belgian Dubbels the Rochefort 6 just didn’t hit as hard as others I have tried. I prefer the Westmalle but wouldn’t be upset if I was served this beer. The Rochefort 8 is also a better beer in my opinion. 6/10

So last week I found a Tripel version from these guys. Today, there was this and a Quadruple. This being only 6.8% vs that Quad at 10.0%, was a much better option.

10.0% means I’m not waking up for my flight in the morning.

Now we’re back to Sunday Night packing for a business trip.

De rente op de studiefinanciering is weer verhoogd en hoewel ik dat wel had aan zien komen is het wel wat hoger dan ik had verwacht, dus dat is balen.

Maar dat is niet het punt van deze post want het is weer tijd voor een leuk rekenvoorbeeldje. Stel, je hebt 10.000 euro schuld, niet een onredelijk bedrag, als je 5 jaar hebt gestudeerd is het nog niet eens het totale collegegeld. De rente wordt nu 2,56 per jaar, dat betekent dat je vanaf volgend jaar iedere maand 21,09 euro rente bovenop je schuld krijgt.

Maar weet je wat het minimale aflossingsbedrag is? 5 euro! Dus als je minimaal moet aflossen stijgt je schuld nog steeds alleen maar! Dat is toch belachelijk?

Log 16. 11/8

I well I, I’m not sure how to say this. Writing this, even after everything has happened I feel like puking.

2b has…. Eaten 1b. I found it this morning, when I first came in.

I… can't even describe it.

2b pulled it apart, with its own hands. Its flesh was stretched, some of it was missing. It’s blood coated the walls, the bed, everywhere. I wonder if 1b even felt it. Its fingers were broken, some of them missing. I didn't even know humans were capable of that. I feel sick even recounting it. I had to call guards to clean it up. I expected 2b to attack, to fight, to do anything. But it just… cried. I don't understand this behavior. It's so erratic.

2b has been moved to the interrogation room until the white room has been cleaned. I was able to talk to it. So, here is that transcript;

Sick. That's how Lucas felt, sick. He was still so hungry, but he didn't hear his mother's voice anymore, he didn't feel him anymore. He wants his brother back.

“2b…” the scientist began, “I… don't even know what to say…”

Lucas just choked back a sob.

“Why… did you-”

“I was so hungry… and mama, she…” Lucas began, before letting out a sob and holding his head in his hands. “Please… I want my brother back…”

“2b… do you understand what you did?” The scientist asked.

“I… ate.” Lucas looked up and at the man, who stared back in what could only be described as fear.

“Right… are you still hungry?”

“I'm always hungry.”

After it uttered those words. I admit, I had gotten a little scared, so I let myself out. Tomorrow the cleaning should be done.

Wilfried Dubbels

Tre Fontane + Rochefort + Westmalle Sinergia ‘21 Dubbel (Picked up at de Bierkoning in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Drinks like a nice and standard Belgian dubbel -- smells of caramel and some dark fruit and has a moderate amount of sweetness. Moderate carbonation helps lift it off the palate a bit, though a decent amount of dark fruit and sweetness lingers in the finish.
