The UAE government has been proactive in supporting the growth of the film industry, with Dubai offering several incentives for filmmakers. The Dubai film commission and TV Commission assists production companies by streamlining the process of obtaining permits, visas, and other legal requirements. Additionally, the UAE’s tax-free environment and the availability of various financial incentives make Dubai a cost-effective destination for both regional and international film projects. These factors, combined with the expertise of local film production companies, make Dubai an attractive choice for filmmakers looking to minimize costs while maintaining high production quality.

I don't know if I'll ever actually write this, but I have a vague idea for a fic that's like, Sam, Jan, and Jamie vs the AFC Richmond Charity Gala that's set in early season 2 and basically explains what happened to the charity gala in 1x04 that's implied to be an annual tradition but that we never see again. The premise is as follows:
After the Dubai Air protest, Sam feels bad that he didn't look into the company he agreed to promote beforehand and decides to be more proactive in his activism. Which is why, when Ted announces the gala is coming up and Jan Maas (who obviously wasn't there for the last one) is like, "isn't it exploitative and dehumanizing to auction off players?" Sam decides he's going to Do Something About It and tries to rally the team to petition Rebecca to change the event, with mixed results.
Jamie, meanwhile, is having a... weird time. He's still nervous about his place on the team, especially now that Roy is back and at the height of his refusing-to-coach-Jamie era, and while there's not as much outright animosity from the other players, they're also not really friends. He's trying to be on his best behaviour, but the upcoming gala is making him nervous and Sam and Jan going around talking about like. consent and bodily autonomy and all that is dredging up some feelings that he's been repressing — mostly about Amsterdam but also about Lust Conquers All (I don't know a ton about reality TV production but it sounds pretty brutal on the contestants, and Jamie would not have been in a great frame of mind going in).
So when Sam and Jan go to talk to him, he doesn't want to turn them down because he's trying to make up for how he treated Sam last year, but he also doesn't want to get on the bad side of the rest of the team if they like the gala, and also also if auctioning off players is wrong then what happened to him in Amsterdam was definitely wrong, and he's not ready to confront that. But of course Sam is a sweetheart and realizes pretty quickly that Something Bad happened here and is like. okay now we really can't have the gala.
Anyway they make a 50-slide Powerpoint that they rehearse a bunch of times and go to present it to Rebecca in full Isaac-approved suits and everything, and then only get like. one slide in before Rebecca's like, "you're right, that is creepy. We'll come up with something new for this year." Also Roy apologizes for joking about Jamie having to sleep with that woman. The end 😊

As an older fan, I’m starting to get some major Sherlock-vibes from the show, in the sense that fans are coming up with all these big-brained theories to explain weak writing that we have to have faith will come to fruition in some future season. Why make the change to Lestat saving Louis? Why is Louis seemingly stronger than Armand?  Why have the Loustat reunion, only for Louis to leave and challenge the entire vampire world (despite the fact that he’s apparently in a better place mentally-speaking)? Why publish under Daniel’s name, when that would clearly paint a target on his back, especially now that he’s a vampire? What’s going on with Daniel’s eyes?
The whole “spite” thing seems like a clear mis-direct, but with only like 8-ish episodes a season and Dubai-era Devil’s Minion being 100% subtext so far, I don’t think the writing team can do DM justice. All the inconsistencies seem like they’re being written off because it’s the unreliable narrator show, when they’re actually just plot holes.
Like…I 100% think the writing team forgot makers can’t telepathically talk to their fledglings, and that’s why they had to add in the throwaway line of Lestat actually whispering to Louis in 1x02. There was no hidden reason we were meant to find, it was just inconsistent internal logic justified because Louis can’t remember anything correctly.
IDK. I don’t want to be a downer, but a lot of my hype for the show just kinda fizzled out with the finale. I'm still gonna watch S3, but I think I'm just gonna wait til the whole thing comes out this time.
Hi!
So I never watched Sherlock nor was every in that fandom, though I did hear about some things after the fact. So I can't compare it to that fandom. But I can compare things to another book series that was being adapted fandom I was in which was Game of Thrones. And I think wrt things we are at least nowhere near that level of things and theorising. Yet.
Maybe because, unlike ASOIAF all the VC books are written and done. So that's a plus.
And see, the thing is? I can actually see a lot of methods to the madness of some of the things you've listed. Especially given the nature of how the story in the show is told through POVs. Where the issue comes into it is not ever knowing if what you are seeing is true, false, or just an interpretation of the truth -- as in Louis' POV of the play-trial rehearsal.
And I'd really like to know if how they ended this season is how they plan to end every season when a full book has been adapted? Something that wraps up the main character arc and story, but just leaves a host of other questions that, if we weren't getting a Season 3, would have never been answered. And who knows if they will all be answered in Season 3? As far as Devil's Minion goes, or Armand himself, I'm not expecting it to be now, given that Season 3 is The Vampire Lestat adaptation and Armand is a straight-up villain/antagonist in that book and Daniel doesn't appear in it at all, so anything we get with him will be extra anyway.
Now, as to whether Rolin Jones and the writers have a plan, Rolin says he pitched an 8-Season (or so) Arc to AMC before he was given the show to run. So at the moment? That is the only solid thing we have to go on right now wrt if there actually IS a play or not for the show.
But see (and oh boy, please forgive me as am I about to go into a big digression here), plotting a TV show is much harder to do than a book or a movie. TV writing is way more organic given that unforeseen circumstances can occur that you've never planned for when you go into a new season of TV production. Such as the studio asking you to split the first book you're adapting into 2 seasons instead of one, leaving you with only a month to rewrite the scripts. Or, a writer's strike and then an actors' strike a few weeks later, delaying production for months. Both of which happened to IWTV wrt Season 1 and then Season 2.
So organic things beyond the show's control are why it is much harder to plan out every little detail of a TV show in advance over multiple seasons. Take another AMC show, Breaking Bad. It's known that Season 2 of that show was intricately plotted out in advance but then, after that, the writers plotted and wrote the rest of the show as things came along for the remaining seasons, with no grand design to it -- even though the creator of the show, Vince Gilligan, knew way in advance how the show was going to end. And the show was able to get there, to that ending, without having a meticulous plan over seasons on how to do so.
I mean, the character of Jesse on Breaking Bad was originally supposed to die at the end of the first season. But instead, he lived through the whole damn thing. That was not planned at all.
And I think that might very well be the situation we have going here wrt IWTV. I think there are larger things they already know in advance about the show -- which books out of all of them will adapted into full stories vs which will only get references. Which characters in the show will make it into the show as full characters vs which characters will either be cut or combined with other existing characters (as Sam Ried revealed in his interview with Autumn Brown that that is going to happen -- that some characters will be combined with others). And what end point they want each of the main four characters -- Louis, Lestat, Armadn, and Daniel -- to be at when they get to at least Season 8. (If not Season 10, which is what AMC wants, 10 seasons). I think those are things Rolin and the writers very much know.
But I don't think the show has every single little detail plotted out for every little thing wrt how they are going to get to certain things. Not super far in advance at any rate.
I do think they'll purposefully put in seeds for later -- that they very much know they are going to need later -- though I think at most they do it one season ahead if it's a little thing. I very much do think that is what the things from episodes 1x02 and 1x03 very much were, since Season 1 and 2 were supposed to just be one season originally. Or the fight in 1x05 only being shown from Claudia's POV. I think that was also deliberate and they are very much planning on visiting it once again in Season 3, as they did in Season 2.
But I also think there are some things the show has not plotted way in advance and only figured out when they are writing that particular episode. Or maybe just decided to do that season as they were writing it, and not before then. Just like how almost every other TV show works, even ones that might very well know the ending they are working toward.
So I in no way think the show has figured and plotted out every single moment and beat of Armand and Daniel's relationship. Why? Not only because much of it happened in the past -- which yes I very much still think it did -- which covers 12 years of time, but because if you look at this clip, Rolin Jones kind of hints that they haven't plotted it out completely point for point even though there are some things they've thought and figured out:
tumblr
video credit: Rei Gorrei on Twitter
So as far as Devil's Minion goes, I think Rolin and Co -- mostly Rolin -- has an endpoint for it in mind. But how they get to that endpoint is probably not planned out to the letter, super far in advance. And something they very likely just come up with as they are writing that particular season. At most? I'd say they've put things in this season that will be relevant next season and that's it.
So, I'm not going to say they can't do it justice. Not yet. I frankly don't have enough data to call that in a yes or no fashion since we haven't seen anything adapted from it aside from the 3-4 days Daniel spent in a cage, which is just the very start of how Devil's Minion begins. Basically one or two paragraphs. That's all they've really adapted when it comes to it at the moment.
And hey, it's okay if you feel down about all of this. If it helps, I'd say try and take a pragmatic approach to the show season by season, and if you feel it's better to binge it than watch it episode by episode for a time, that's good too. This is going to be a long journey after all.

According to the American IT giant, the hacker attack took place in early December and underscored “the fast and significant expansion in the scope of Iranian operations since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict”.
The fake news broadcast focused on Israel’s operations in Gaza and was accompanied by a banner that read: “We have no choice but to hack to deliver this message to you."
The AI news anchor then went on to present graphic – and unverified images – of Palestinians, including women and children, allegedly killed or injured by Israeli forces in Gaza.
"I was watching BBC News around 10.30 pm when the programme was abruptly disrupted, and instead, harrowing visuals from Palestine appeared on my screen. I watched transfixed as my screen froze, and a message from the hacker popped up in all caps against a green background. This was immediately followed by a news bulletin presented by an AI anchor. It was surreal and scary," a Dubai resident told Khaleej Times.
Another user interviewed by the same newspaper recounted how she was unable to shield her children from the graphic images that suddenly popped up on the TV screen.
“Every channel we switched to displayed the same content," she said.
In its February 8 report, Microsoft's Threat Analysis Centre (MTAC) said the disruption had also reached audiences in Britain and Canada.
MTAC attributed the attack to Cotton Sandstorm – a group it has previously identified as “an Iranian state actor sanctioned by the US Treasury Department for their attempts to undermine the integrity of the 2020 US presidential elections”.
AI ‘a key component’
Microsoft said the group, which labelled itself “For Humanity” during the operation, had published videos on the Telegram messaging app, showing how it had hacked into three online streaming services and disrupted “several news channels” with the fake AI broadcast.
It added it was “the first Iranian influence operation Microsoft has detected where AI played a key component in its messaging”.
Since the start of the war, Microsoft said it had noted collaboration between groups affiliated with Iran and, in particular, between a group linked to Iran’s intelligence and security ministry and “Hezbollah cyber units”.
Fabrice Popineau, an AI specialist who lectures and conducts research at France’s prestigious engineering school CentraleSupélec, said the attack was quite a feat. “The achievement is not so much the production of an AI-generated news broadcast, but the fact that they managed to insert it in the right place,” he said.
Nicolas Arpagian, vice-president of cybersecurity firm HeadMind Partners, also pointed to the technical aspect of how the group had attacked the streaming services.
"The cyber attack did not directly target the television channels but the operators of them, not the sender but the receiver," he explained.
According to Arpagian, these type of attacks – in which graphic photos and videos are displayed – fall under a special propaganda category known as “agit-prop”, aiming to spark an emotional reaction and political agitation.
"As soon as you have people feeling it, experiencing it in their homes, in their privacy, the goal is achieved,” he said.
Surge in Iranian cyber attacks
Iran’s upswing in hackings and influence campaigns highlights the regime’s desire to show that it can attack anywhere, anytime. Microsoft said that while it had tracked only nine Iranian-linked groups active in Israel in the first week of the war, this number had grown to as many as 14 just two weeks into the conflict.
It also said that Iranian cyber influence operations had skyrocketed from around one operation “every other month” in 2021, to 11 in October, 2023, alone.
In November last year, these Iran-backed groups also started to extend their attacks beyond Israel to include Israeli allies. Among the targets were a handful of small town water utilities in the United States, including in Pennsylvania, where stunned staff at the Aliquippa water authority discovered that their industrial control device had been hacked. A message on the device screen read: “You have been hacked. Down with Israel. Every equipment ‘made in Israel’ is Cyber Avengers’ legal target.” The Cyber Avengers is affiliated to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, which is a key branch of the country’s armed forces.
This particular attack was remarkable in the sense that it targeted Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), which are commonly used in factory automation processes, including robotised machines and assembly line devices. Such attacks can therefore heavily disrupt operations, and, depending on the industry affected, cause major damage.
US police have opened an investigation into the attack.

They always say your life flashes before your eyes when you’re about to die. Fast moving images of happier times. Maybe it was meant to be a calming presence to remind you of your best times on Earth before you ventured into the other side. Was she dying? Why were all of her good memories with Suresh flashing before her eyes now? The two of them in a helicopter ride over Dubai, jumping off the side of a yacht and swimming in the Mediterranean, decorating a Christmas tree while his parents’ mischievous cat tried to knock the ornaments off, the two laughing while they sipped wine and danced around in their underwear, drunk off happiness more than the wine they consumed. But she knew she wasn’t dying, she could feel her heart beating erratically like it was trying to escape her body, so she was definitely alive.
“He was going to propose to me, not her. ME!”
The words echoed around in her head, causing her actual physical pain. She didn’t know what to do, what to think. She was completely overwhelmed by the tsunami of emotions crashing down on her, taking her under. She felt like she was gonna throw up. This couldn’t be happening. It just couldn’t be. But it was. And it was happening in front of everyone. It was happening on TV. God she wanted to cry. She closed her eyes briefly and took a deep breath.
Slowly the white noise around her cleared up. She blinked, clearing the haze from her eyes, and looked up at Kat who was standing in front of her, bombarding her with expletives and evil glares. She heard Finn close by, trying to make his way over, trying to reason with Kat. Meera was demanding Alfie explain why he hadn’t chosen her movie but Alfie was busy lashing out at Suresh, demanding answers about the supposed engagement ring. Suresh ignored him and pleaded with Gemma to have a private chat away from the others, Gabi hot on his heels demanded her own answers while Dana tried to stop her. It was complete and utter chaos.
“Hey.” Gemma turned when she heard Lulu’s soft voice cut through the deafening shouts.
“You look a bit overwhelmed,” said Lulu. “Do you want to get out of here?”
Gemma nodded. “Yes.”
“Oh, no you don’t,” Kat snapped and grabbed Gemma’s arm as she stood up. “I am not done with you!”
“Kat, please–” Finn pleaded.
“Fuck off, Finn!” Kat sneered, glaring at Gemma. “You’re not getting off that easy. We need to talk about Finn’s movie.”
Gemma yanked her arm free, barely glancing at Kat as she walked back towards the villa.
“Gemma, get back here!” Kat screamed.
“Gemma, you have to let me explain!” Suresh called out after her.
“Gemma, I didn’t say any of those things!” Nicolas shouted. “It was edited! That movie was completely out of context, the boys were winding me up. They got me to the point of saying those things but it’s not how I actually feel. I’d never say those things about you, it was just banter with the boys, you gotta trust me they didn’t show the full footage.”
That made Gemma spin on her heels, eyes ablaze with fury. “Let me get this straight,” she seethed. “Not only do you think I’m, what did you call it again, ‘desperate and lonely’? But you also take me for an absolute fool? Do you really think I’m that stupid?”
“Gemma–” Nicolas tried.
“Fuck off, Nicolas.”
“No, production needs to answer for the lies they edited together!” Nicolas continued. “It’s very convenient that Pete and Johnny aren’t here to back me up, but I never said those things.”
Gemma looked at him and laughed bitterly. “The fact that you’re still lying about what was said when it was clear as day, is baffling. So I want to make myself abundantly clear so you aren’t confused by any ‘production edits.’ I will never in a million years be with you. I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want to even look at you. Leave me alone.”
“But Gem-”
“She said to leave her the fuck alone, Nicolas,” Suresh snarled. He walked the four short steps over to her and cupped her face while he tucked a strand of loose hair around her ear.
“G, please, let me explain this,” said Suresh, and Gemma’s eyes locked on his. She didn’t try to hide the tears that rushed to her sea green eyes, there was no use. “I promise it’s not what you think–”
“I thought your lies couldn’t get any worse, Suresh,” Alfie interrupted.
“You were planning to marry Gabi while you were stringing Gemma along?” asked Finn.
“You’re a real piece of work, Suresh,” Dana snickered while Kat clicked her tongue. “Yeah, good luck explaining your way out of this one.”
“That’s enough!” Suresh roared, rendering all of the islanders speechless. “This has nothing to do with any of you, none of you know what you’re talking about!”
“How do they not, Suresh?” said Gabi, having pushed her way past the others. “I know what I found.”
“Gabi–”
“How else do you explain the large emerald cut diamond ring I found buried deep in your closet?”
“W-what?” Gemma looked between Gabi and Suresh. “Did you say an emerald cut? With smaller baguette diamonds on the side?”
Gabi gave her a confused look. “H-how did you know?”
Gemma’s eyes locked back onto Suresh’s, and she opened her mouth to speak but words evaded her. She closed her mouth and tried again.
“Like…like we always talked about…like my nan’s ring?” she asked, tears still flowing down her cheeks.
He swallowed but nodded, then took a deep breath before he continued. “The ring was never meant for Gabi,” he said, shifting uncomfortably on his feet. “It was meant for you.”
She was trembling, feelings of panic and despair now replaced with confusion and anger.
“Why didn’t you say something sooner?” she whispered indignantly.
“I felt terrible after Excess Baggage. It was selfish of me not to say something sooner, but it broke my heart to know that I ruined everything between us. That you wanted everything I wanted, too.”
“So everything you did, our whole relationship, was all based on lies?” Gabi’s question snapped them both back and Suresh turned to look at her. She was watching him with tears in her eyes.
“It’s always been about her, hasn’t it? I was nothing to you?”
“Gabi…” He slumped his shoulders and sighed. “I won’t make excuses for myself. I shouldn’t have led you on, and I should’ve been more upfront about my feelings. I wasn’t ready for a relationship so soon, not after…” He cleared his throat. “I-I’m sorry for everything I’ve put you through. Both of you.”
“Whatever, Suresh.” Gabi stalked off towards the kitchen with Dana and Lulu following close behind her.
“Gem, can we go chat about this, please?” Suresh asked. Gemma swallowed, her chest so tight and filled with more emotions than she knew what to do with. “Please, I need to talk to you. Alone. About everything we’ve seen tonight.”
“Okay.” Her reply came out in an unsure whisper, but he heard it nonetheless. She cleared her throat, then repeated, “Okay. We can talk.”
The two of them made their way onto the roof terrace, both silent, timid and anxious. Neither of them knew what to do, what to say. Gemma felt a chill from the night air. All she wanted was for Suresh to hold her, wrap her arms around her, tell her everything was going to be okay. Like he’d used to. But at the same time, she didn’t want him to touch her, there was still too much going on, too many emotions she couldn’t control. There was just still too much left unsaid. They sat down in the same spot they’d talked a couple of days prior, but this time closer, no more than a foot of tensioned air between them. Neither made any move to separate or move further apart.
Suresh nervously ran his large fingers through his hair and looked at Gemma. He carefully reached out and took her hands, relieved when she didn’t pull away. Then he sighed deeply. “Gem…I’m not really sure where to begin.”
“Why don’t you start with why you didn’t tell me about the ring, Suresh.”
“I’m sorry. I had my reasons for not saying anything, though I know they’re all stupid and I regret not saying something to you sooner. I never mentioned the ring because I realized I don’t deserve someone like you.”
With her brows furrowed, she didn’t hide her confusion but she let him continue.
“You’ve never cheated, you deserve someone who has never put you through that pain and hurt. When I found out you wanted to propose too, my entire world shattered. To know that we could’ve been married right now had I not made that one mistake…it…it broke me.”
Suresh shifted uncomfortably in his seat, biting back the tears that threatened to spill out of the corners of his eyes. He drew a shaky breath and continued.
“That’s why I wanted you to move on. I knew Alfie was head over heels about you and at the time it just made sense that you should move on with someone like him. Dependable, caring, someone who had been burned before and would never do something like that to someone else.” Suresh sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes as he continued. “But clearly you can’t trust anyone in here and I ended up putting you through even more unnecessary hurt.”
Gemma considered his words, desperately holding her cards to her chest. Not wanting to reveal anything too soon, terribly afraid that if she revealed how she truly felt for him this house of cards they’d built would quickly come crashing down.
“Cheating on you…” He paused, chewing on the inside of his cheek to shift the pain to something physical that he could focus on instead of the emotions causing havoc in his mind. “It was the single greatest mistake of my life. I’ve gone back to the moment several times in my head, wishing I could change the outcome, turn back time somehow. But obviously I never could.  So I’ve had to live with that guilt and the pain after what I did. I’ve spent so many nights thinking about the life we could’ve had together, the life we always dreamed about. Anytime I’d see a small little teddy bear looking dog on the street I’d think of you and the dog we always talked about getting after we moved in together. Every time I’d walk in my empty, lonely flat, I was hit with the cruel reminder that I wasn’t coming home to you, in the house we always dreamed about buying.”
He breathed in sharply, as if the memory alone hurt him too much and he continued.
“In the early days after it happened, I racked my brain trying to think of ways to get you to forgive me but I soon realized my efforts were futile, you were never coming back. But then Simon told me you were coming on Love Island and it felt like fate or God or whatever was calling out to me. I couldn’t just give up on you. I had to try one more time. For you, Gemma. For us.”
Gemma bit her lip nervously, she was so confused, there were so many emotions clouding her mind at the moment. They’d been playing a game of hide and seek with their feelings since they first arrived in the villa. But could she continue with this game? Especially if she was the only one playing?
All she wanted to do in this moment was reach out and touch his face, bring him closer to her, kiss him like she used to so many times before. Tell him how much she still loved him, how much she still wanted to be with him. But her fear got the better of her and she just looked at him with tear-stained eyes and said, “You’ve made a big mess of everything, haven’t you?”
“I know I have G, and I’m sorry. I truly am. You’re the only person that I’ve ever loved. As much as I’ve tried to forget what we had, I can’t. I’m still in love with you. I will never not be in love with you.”
Gemma knew she shouldn’t, it was still too soon, there were still so many things up in the air, but she felt like she was going to explode. She knew her emotions were clouding her thinking, the rational part of her brain screaming at her to take a step back. But she didn’t listen. Instead she leaned in and their lips met in a single impulsive motion. The kiss started off slow and tender, both too scared to push the other too far. But soon it became feverish and desperate as they both realized how much they missed each other, remembered how much they loved each other. By the time they finally broke apart, he rested his forehead against hers as they tried to catch their breath. He couldn’t help but smile wide.
“God, I’ve missed you.” He squeezed her tighter.
A soft sob escaped her lips. “I’ve missed you too, Resh.”
They just sat in silence for a moment, both drinking in the familiar smell of the other, trying to wrap their collective minds around what had just happened. “Babe, what does this mean for us?” Suresh asked, and although it was only a whisper it tore through the silence like a knife.
Gemma paused, trying to think. What did this actually mean for them? She couldn’t hide her feelings for him anymore, moreover she didn’t want to. But she was still terrified of what could happen if she got too close again. She shuddered to think of the last time she had and how he had broken her to her core. Shattering any semblance of who she was previously. She looked at him again and knew there was only one answer.
“I think it’s time I stopped ignoring my feelings for you and embraced what this is, what this could be. I’m done with the avoidance and the resentment.” She felt her throat close up, so she pulled away from him to try and collect herself, trying to clear her mind just a little. “I’ve known for a long time, even if I’ve tried to tell myself I don’t, I do.” She met his gaze, his eyes finally showing the vulnerability she had longed for.
“I still love you,” she said, and as she did so she felt herself relax, the tension leaving her body and she finally let go of the delusion she’d clung to to keep herself afloat. “I’ve never stopped loving you. But If we did decide to try again, we wouldn’t be the same.”
“I don’t need us to be the same.” He reached out and cupped her face, brushed his thumb over her cheek. “I just need us to be us again.” Then he wrapped his arms around her as tight as he could, almost not believing that this was actually happening. He pulled away just enough to kiss her, trying to convey how much he loved her and how sorry he was and how thankful he was. They both knew tonight wouldn’t solve all their problems, but they were together again and that was enough for now.
As Suresh looked over the terrace he saw the lawn was completely empty, he noticed everyone else had made their way inside for bed.
“I don’t want to rush you,” he said, clearing his throat. “But would you want to sleep outside on the daybeds with me tonight?”
“Being that the alternative is sleeping in a bed with Nicolas–” Gemma grimaced, making Suresh chuckle “–I think I’ll sleep with you tonight.”
“That’s not the only reason you want to sleep with me tonight and you know it,” he snickered.
“Maybe not,” she admitted, a comfortable warmth settling in her chest. She kissed him again softly before they headed inside to get ready for bed.
Gemma couldn’t remember the last time she’d slept so well. Even with the insane heat of the Mallorcan sun pounding down on them and Suresh’s leg splayed on top of her, his arm draped over her creating a pool of sweat in between their limbs, she’d never felt happier. She looked at his sleeping face and smiled, lacing her fingers through his hair.
“Mmm…that feels good.”
He opened his eyes slowly, bringing her closer to him still, pressing her body into his as he crashed his lips onto hers. His kiss grew bolder and more persistent, their hands exploring each other's bodies for the first time in over a year. As she pulled away slowly she could hear some islanders heading into the kitchen.
“We should probably get up, babe,” she sighed.
“No…” he groaned, hugging her closer, burying his head in her neck.
She started giggling, but he slowly started to get up, stretching his toned God-like physique.
“Breakfast?”
“Yes, please,” she beamed.
“Come on then. I need my sous chef, I’m gonna make your favorite chocolate chip pancakes.”
At the prospect of delicious food, Gemma got up quickly. She took his hand in hers, and  they walked to the kitchen together. She couldn’t help but to think of how different this morning was to the many mornings she’d had so far in the villa. The sun seemed to shine brighter, the sea in the distance seemed calmer, bluer, the birds’ songs seemed chipper, happier. It was like the world was righting itself just for the two of them. As they entered the kitchen, the warmth they felt seconds prior was washed away by an icy glare from Kat who sat on a stool, as if she was waiting for them to arrive. Meera and Alfie did not seem to have fully resolved their issues from last night either as they coldly prepared breakfast.
“Gemma,” Kat spat menacingly. “We should chat.”
“Kat…Suresh and I are about to have breakfast. We can chat after.”
Kat stood up abruptly like a defiant toddler. “NO! NOW! You owe me.”
“Just go. I’ll get things started,” Suresh said, squeezing her shoulders. Then he leaned down and whispered in her ear to make sure no one else heard.  “Just stay close, so I can see you if I need to come over and save you.”
She couldn’t help but smile at his words, but she took his advice and chose a lounger close to the kitchen area.
“Ok Kat, I’m here.”
Kat leered. “I need to know what’s going on between you and Finn.”
Gemma couldn’t help but laugh. Other than the movie last night, she’d had no other indication that Finn had ever even been interested in her. He’d barely glanced her way since their first date and the first recoupling.
“Kat, seriously? Nothing.” She made sure to put extra emphasis on ‘nothing’ to try and knock it into Kat’s head. “Anytime I’ve ever chatted with Finn, it’s about you. His movie caught me completely off guard. But for me, there’s nothing there. Suresh and I are finally starting to work things out, and he’s my only focus right now. I’m not interested in anyone else.”
“Well you need to let Finn know that,” Kat growled. “I don’t need him thinking he has a chance with you.”
“I’m saying this because I’m your friend, or at the very least I thought we were until yesterday. I don’t have to do anything. It was his movie, his feelings or whatever they are for me. Not the other way around. And if you think that him pining for me or anyone else would hurt your chances, well–” Gemma spread her arms and gave a slight shrug “–maybe he’s not the guy for you.”
She stood up and walked back to the kitchen, not giving Kat a chance to respond. She was done, she’d said her piece and there was nothing left to talk about. She came up behind Suresh and wrapped her arms around his waist, watching as he slid the first pancake onto a plate and poured more batter on the skillet.
“That was quick,” he said as he craned his neck to look at her. “How’d it go?”
“I just told her I didn’t know why Finn said what he said in his video and that we’re trying to work things out now and I’m not interested in getting to know him or anyone else.”
“You don’t?” Suresh asked anxiously.
“You do?!”
“No!” he laughed. “It’s just really nice to hear that you don’t either though, we didn’t really talk about that last night.” He expertly flipped the pancake, landing perfectly on the skillet.
She smiled at him gently before she inched her way in front of him and buried her face in his chest. She wordlessly clung to him, breathing in his scent, feeling his chest rise, his strong arms around her waist. Just two days before, she thought she’d never be able to hold him like this again. That he’d never hold her like this again. Caress her hair, like he was now, and kiss the top of her head. He cupped her chin and made her look at him. He didn’t need to say anything for her to know how much he loved her, his eyes said it all on their own. She could see her future in his eyes now.
“Hey, love birds…whatever you’re cooking is burning,” Dana laughed.
Breaking them out of their haze, Gemma and Suresh looked down to a black, smokey pancake. Suresh made a face as he dumped the pancake in the bin while Gemma laughed.
After the chaos of the night before and the residual dust that needed to settle after the whirlwind from that morning, the afternoon seemed to calm down a bit with the islanders hanging out in smaller groups dispersed throughout the villa. Some liaised and swam in the pool, some hung out in the gym, but Gemma found herself nestled with Suresh in the daybeds again. Talking about everything and nothing at all, reminiscing about Suresh’s insane family cat, both in a fit of giggles when a text ping interrupted them.
“I’ve got a text!” Gabi shouted excitedly from the pool. The other islanders all gathered around her as she read it out.
ISLANDERS TONIGHT THERE WILL BE A RECOUPLING. THE GIRLS WILL EACH CHOOSE WHO THEY WANT TO COUPLE UP WITH #LadiesNight
Gemma looked up at Suresh but he was already looking down and beaming at her, she smiled back but she couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t the only one looking at him with interest.

Dumping an extremely long writeup of my thoughts about the IWTV series here. In case anyone does read it, tw for domestic abuse and rape, because it seems that’s the story we got 💀
The show overall
I absolutely loved the inclusive representation and how naturally the story supported the changes. I’ve distanced myself a bit from the books and film because I’m increasingly uncomfortable with their problematic elements, so it was great to experience the story without those. I loved how gay it was, at last!!! The use of Covid in the new framing story feels very 2021 lol but I think it’s an interesting idea, and the Dubai flat is soooo Armand (/neg).
That being said, if I had to look at the show objectively I would say it’s not very good. I don’t know enough about tv production to say what the issue was, but both the writing and direction felt awkward to me. The climax was too drawn out, and ending the show by revealing Armand’s identity will surely be underwhelming to anyone who hasn’t read the book or seen the film. I really disliked how desaturated and brownish the colour palette was, and I don’t think the mood matched the books. It wasn’t very gothic, but instead had a sort of sterility that reminded me of what I’ve seen of Hannibal. And finally, a lot of things seemed very silly to me. The way they hissed at each other was straight out of What We Do In The Shadows, and wasn’t that mind-reading scene, where everyone is thinking about food/sex, from Twilight??
Maybe this is overly pessimistic, but I have a feeling the show won’t be renewed for series 3. I really would love a decent adaptation of books 2 and 3, but maybe it is for the best, as the books get increasingly sillier, and because of the way Lestat was characterised so far💀
The characters
Jacob is so perfect as Louis. It’s refreshing to see Louis as he originally was, before he was flanderised in later books, and while I don’t think Brad Pitt is as bad as most people do, Jacob fits the character exactly and brings so much energy to the role.
I’m sooo obsessed with Bailey as Claudia, she was so much fun! I was never a huge Claudia fan before, but I love how her personality was portrayed in this, and how prominent of a role she was given, I cared about her so much. And Bailey masters that very creepy wide-eyed stare. I’m glad we got an adult actress as Claudia because of the intensity of the story (even though I did have to suspend my disbelief a bit when the show focused on how Claudia will look so young and 14 forever when she could easily pass as a grown up)
However, I HATED the rape plot. It served little purpose and could be replaced with some other plot point, and it’s such an upsetting, lazy trope to have a female character raped (especially a girl of colour). And I was excited to have an early fang gang cameo before that happened 😭
I’m a bit meh on Eric and how Daniel is written in general. I just think he’s too much of an asshole, and Eric delivers his lines in such a mean way. There’s definitely shades of Daniel’s personality there, and I COULD see Daniel growing up to be like that — I just think he’s a good guy, nicer than we’re shown here. And I really didn’t like the brief appearance of young Daniel, I don’t think he had the right energy at all.
And the new framing story means almost certainly no devil’s minion, but I doubt the show will make it that far anyway.
He was barely in it but I’m already obsessed with Assad’s Armand, his demeanor is perfect, and he really looks like an Armand! So excited to see more of him in series 2.
The minor characters were good, I especially liked having a bit of Louis sister’s arc in there!
I saved Lestat for last because I have a lot to say 💀. I thought Sam did a great job all things considered, so I don’t blame him, just the writing. Even before episode 5 i didn’t love this depiction of the character. There were some things I did like — he was fun, annoying, and impetuous, as Lestat should be. But I didn’t get the sense that he loved humanity, which is one of Lestat’s most important characteristics. Of course that wasn’t in book 1, but the framing story is supposed to be a revision of the original interview anyway. He enjoyed partying with people, but never seemed to care about any mortals. They could have given screentime to that, instead of the abuse. Or maybe they decided to base his characterisation on later series Lestat who does seem to abuse the people he loves /j
Initially, I didn’t know why they made him so abusive. From my perspective, the hard part of adapting IWTV is balancing Lestat’s abusiveness in that book with who he becomes in later books, blending the character attributes, so the audience will like him later on. So WHY would they make him MORE abusive??
I do wonder if it’s because they made Louis/Lestat an explicit romance. It’s a lot harder to believe that Louis would be complicit in Lestat’s death when he’s happily in love with him than when it was Brad Pitt acting numb and miserable. I wonder if they added this graphic and violent abuse to convince the audience, as well as Louis and Claudia, to hate Lestat in the span of one episode. And if so, that’s so lazy! They could have focused more on Lestat’s psychological control, convincing the others that they’re helpless without him, or Louis’s self-loathing about being a vampire and his resentment of Lestat.
And to be honest, while the beating scene was awful, I was more upset by the traincar scene with Claudia. I just watched The Shining last weekend and Lestat bursting into the train with the severed head of the conductor was so Jack Torrence. And if I didn’t misunderstand, i think he threatened to rape Claudia, and told her that if she let that happen, it would upset Louis. Please correct me if I’m wrong! Because that is horrendous.
i don’t think there’s any coming back from this for the character. In the series, the characters are willing to forgive anything over time because they’re all immortal, but I can’t see the audience forgiving. So if they do make it past series 2, it will be interesting to see what they do. (And maybe it’s for the best if not, not only because of Lestat, but also because I’d rather not see any screen time dedicated to Marius lol)

The Technology behind Modern Furniture Designs
These days, technological advancement is seen influencing our lives, adding cutting-edge technologies, brand-new ideas & lasting materials to everything from mobiles to modern furniture that we use daily. It has resulted in more comfortable, durable & safer modern office furniture & made our lives full of luxury.
It is no secret that modern furniture has a great demand in the international market & a growing number of people choose it to give their homes or offices a contemporary look. However, some people are of the view that modern office furniture lacks new technology & ideas & appears more like the conventional ones. This is not found to be true.
To their surprise, more & more furniture manufacturers are using cutting-edge technologies & special materials to produce revolutionary, sustainable & portable modern furniture in attractive shapes & sizes. Most of these furniture makers maintain their own websites. So, people who want to go for remodeling in their home or office can start searching for them on the web.
A few decades back, we don't have enough options for modern furniture except a few common types of dining rooms, bedrooms & wall units. The technological advancement in modern furniture design has now given us the freedom to choose from hundreds of contemporary modern office furniture in different looks, materials & sizes so as to make our offices look more beautiful.
In earlier times, wood was highly used in the making of all kinds of furniture. Therefore the traditional furniture was too heavy, dull looking & was susceptible to water, light & other weather conditions. In an effort to increase the acceptability of conventional furniture, researchers introduced new furniture materials like plywood, and plastic etch. The furniture makers have started using these materials in furniture making & made the modern furniture light in weight & lovely in look. Even today, some of the furniture models are made of wood with plywood on the sides. This makes the furniture cost & weigh less & look classic. The furniture designers often make experiments with the furniture supplies including materials, using a combination of glass, wood, chrome & steel in the furniture-making process. Many are aware of the deteriorating global condition & want to use eco-friendly furniture designs. That's why the furniture for gardens & terraces is made from recycled materials. This is not all as the furniture makers are largely using a mixed variety of materials to produce more reliable & durable products. Now, heavy plasma TVs can be kept on fortified glass-made wall hangings.
Modern home & office furniture needs a fashionable look to draw the attention of more buyers. That's why the furniture makers keep on working with different colors, styles, patterns & shapes to bring an improvement in its value & functionality. Such transforming & sustaining furniture assures to give comfort to normal buyers who don't live in plush bungalows or apartments. It is a sophisticated technology that helps convert your comfy sofa into a perfect bed. Due to this technology, you can now purchase a convertible & smart-looking dining table with multiple moves to accommodate your whole family & friends whenever the necessity arises. Have you ever seen a modern armchair that can get transformed into a nice-looking lounge with just a button press? This is all the result of technological advancement in furniture making & designing.

The Cashier in Dubai
Investigative report tracks tangled route for money flowing to offshore companies from Moldova.
Part One
Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc left his home country in 2019 to avoid corruption charges. But an investigation into his business affairs, supported by newspress24-blog, shows that money continued to flow into his pockets long after he fled.
Black Box Plus, the investigative show of Moldova’s independent Tv channel TV8, acquired documents showing that Plahotniuc profited from every document Moldova’s Public Services Agency (ASP) issued between 2014-2019. Black Box TV followed the traces left by the businessman Alexandru Vilcu and Vladimir Andronachi, a former lawmaker with the Democratic Party (PD).
Documents show that the money reached Plahotniuc via Garsų Pasaulis, the Lithuanian printing house that won the public procurements for supplying blank cards the ASP uses to issue Moldovan documents, including passports. The financial circuit leads to a network of offshore companies registered in Cyprus, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In the summer of 2020, the scheme Plahotniuc built over the years was taken over by two Bulgaria-registered companies that appeared overnight.
These companies were the identical financial offshore vehicles through which Plahotniuc, former leader of the PD, raised alleged dividends from the auctions organised by the state telecom company Moldtelecom, the purchase of electricity from the breakaway region of Transnistria, the public-private partnership for hemodialysis services and the so–called heist of one billion US dollars from the Moldovan banking system.
The Lithuanian UAB (an acronym of uždaroji akcine bendrove, or private limited company) started supplying blank cards for Moldovan passports following tenders in 2014 and 2017. The main beneficiary of the Garsu Pasaulis company is Albert Mario Karaziwan, a Belgian citizen who owns Semlex Europe, an identification document and biometric device production company whose business practices have come under scrutiny. The Syrian-Belgium businessman has been targeted in several countries in criminal corruption cases and journalistic investigations by Reuters and OCCRP.
In 2014, Moldova’s minister of information and communications technology was Plahotniuc’s fellow party member Pavel Filip. The CRIS Registru state enterprise which in 2017 was re-organised as ASP, was headed by Sergey Railean, godfather of Filip's older son.
Between 2014 and 2021, ASP transferred 59.5 million euros to the Garsu Pasaulis company "for raw material, blank cards and personalisation services," according to documents obtained by Black Box.
ASP also paid the Lithuanian company a royalty fee for software developed for Moldova and used on three types of documents. For example, the royalty fee for each passport issued was 13.61 euros (14.49 US dollars). On October 22, 2021, prosecutors opened a criminal case against nine people from the Public Services Agency “targeted in a criminal case of abuse of office”. Prosecutors estimated that the state lost around 41 million euros (43.6 million dollars) in the case.
A LONG AND TANGLED PATH
A note from the Moldovan service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering obtained by Black Box shows that more than 24 million euros (25.54 million dollars) did not stop in the company's accounts in Vilnius but ended up in Cyprus and the UAE.
“Of the 135 payments made throughout this period [2014-2019], I can tell you that the final beneficiary is obvious. At least, from what the criminal investigation bodies say, it is clear that the actual beneficiary is Vladimir Plahotniuc,” said ASP director Mircea Esanu.
Sergey Railean, the ASP former director under whose mandate the two contracts with Garsu Pasaulis were signed, said that he knew nothing about benefits for Plahotniuc.
"The tender took place according to the procedures. Therefore, nothing was outside the law," Railean said.
Told that Black Box reporters had established money transfers from Garsu Pasaulis to offshore companies affiliated with Plahotniuc, Railean was asked if he knew anything about it.
"No, absolutely not. Now it is a criminal case. The file must be completed after the trial,"he said. “[…] We did not order any software."
Railean added that ASP paid royalty fees to Garsu Pasaulis "because that was the contract".
On May 5, 2022 the Moldovan anti-corruption prosecutor's office announced that Railean had the status of accused in the so-called passport affair.
Filip, who held the post of prime minister in 2016-2019, did not answer the phone calls or requests for comment.
In May 2018, during a TV show broadcast by Prime, one of Plahotniuc's TV stations, Filip hinted that the state signed a more advantageous contract with Garsu Pasaulis than the previous one agreed in 2011 with a French company.
In 2011, Garsu Pasaulis had in fact tried to win a tender, but its application failed as it did not meet ASP’s criteria. A key condition was that applicants had experience manufacturing electronic passports for at least three European countries, as established by a decision of the Supreme Court of Justice. Garsu Pasaulis did not meet this requirement.
Garsu Pasaulis replied via e-mail that the company won the tenders and successfully delivered blank passport cards for ASP.
“As for the exact details of other commercial contracts, we cannot provide any details as confidentiality commitments bind us,” Andrius Lukosevicius, director of Garsu Pasaulis’ printing security department, wrote. “However, we can confirm that we have never had and do not currently have commercial or other relations with Mr Plahotniuc and [Romanian businesswoman] Mrs Ileana-Mihaela Burcea.”
The passport cash headed south, to the UAE firm Prime Union Solutions FZ LLC. Between January 1, 2018 and July 30, 2019 itreceived transfers for over 4.7 million euros ( five million dollars) from Garsu Pasaulis. The money continued to flow into Plahotniuc's coffers even after he fled Moldova in June 2019 when his name was linked to the disappearance of over a billion dollars - nearly one-eighth of Moldova's GDP - from the country's biggest banks between 2012 and 2014.
Employees at the Moldovan Money Laundering Prevention and Combating Service obtained information from their colleagues in Dubai and stated that the company's majority shareholders were the Romanian citizen Ileana-Mihaela Burcea and the company Inter Gnathonize Limited.
Between October 29, 2018, and July 30, 2019, a total of seven million euros (about 7.4 million dollars) were credited into Prime Union Solutions’ UAE bank account, largely sent from Garsu Pasaulis. The money then traveled to Burcea’s private account in UAE and six other offshore companies.
In liaison with UAE and Cyprus’ authorities, Moldova’s law enforcement agencies determined that Garsu Pasaulis transferred another 19.6 million euros (20.8 million dollars) to another Cyprus offshore company, Gnathonize Limited, also connected to Burcea.
The Cypriot firm opened a bank account in July 2014, four months after Garsu Pasaulis won the Moldova tender. The Lithuanian firm was the main contributor to the account until August 2018. After that, the money was transferred to the company Prime Union INC LTD in Hong Kong and marked as a "dividend payment".
Part Two
Documents from the Hong Kong public registry show that Burcea was one of Prime Union’s shareholders and in 2014-2019 the director. In 2020, Burcea requested the closing of the company. In 2018, over 600,000 euros (639,000 dollars) were transferred from one of Prime Union’s bank accounts to another offshore in Gibraltar.
In addition, 1.5 million euros (1.6 million dollars) arrived in Burcea`s personal account in the UAE and almost 800,000 euros (852,600 dollars) were directed to Recon Business Data Service, a company registered in Dubai led by Burcea. The company was closed in December 2019.
Burcea’s lawyer Cristina Savulescu declined to comment on the financial transfers from Garsu Pasaulis to her client. She also did not comment on Burcea’s connection with Plahotniuc. Savulescu said that any association of her client with an alleged criminal case was damaging to her client's image.
"The judicial procedure in any criminal case, from the time of notification to the competent bodies until the time of sending a particular person to court, is non-public and confidential, meaning that third parties cannot know the content of the carried-out procedures," Savulescu said.
Documents obtained by Black Box with the support of the OCCRP network of investigative journalists show that Plahotniuc used the same infrastructure of offshore companies to take yet more funds out of Moldova.
The former politician used the offshore network for the money obtained from other auctions organised by state enterprises including Moldtelecom, Moldova’s largest telecommunication operator, gas supplier Energocom and the health ministry for dialysis-related services.
The UAE’s Recon Business Data Services, connected to Burcea, was also involved in the financial circuit of money leaked by Plahotniuc from another scheme related to Moldtelecom, concerning public tenders won by Bass Systems SRL in PD`s ruling period.
Between March 2017 to January 2019 the Chisinau-based IT company delivered technical equipment and services for Moldtelecom worth about 41 million euros (43.6 million dollars). Out of this amount, eight million euros (8.5 million dollars) and six million dollars followed the same route to the UAE through Recon Business Data Services.
OFFSHORE ACCOUNTS
Another document obtained from the Moldovan service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering shows that the Dubai-based company made several transactions to two offshores used by Plahotniuc: the UAE-based Vanguard International LTD and Vanguard International Group, registered in Samoa.
Both companies appeared in Plahotniuc's wealth statements in 2018. However, in the document submitted to Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission on the eve of the February 24, 2019 parliamentary elections, the oligarch declared 4.5 million euros (4.78 million dollars), over 11 million lei (around 585,000 dollars) and 347,000 dollars as dividends obtained from the Dubai-based Vanguard International Ltd.
Moldovan prosecutors established the origin of the money collected by Plahotniuc as "dividends".
Vanguard International LTD received 8.2 million euros (8.72 million dollars) and 2.5 million dollars from UAE-registered RECON SPC LIMITED from December 2017 to May 2019.
Burcea and another Romanian citizen, Silviu Tutuianu, were behind the company in different periods. Almost the entire amount came from the other similarly named firm, the Dubai-based Recon Business Data Service.
Plahotniuc also collected "dividends" worth 1.7 million euros (1.80 million dollars) and almost 350,000 US dollars through another offshore company, TGME INVESTMENTS SPC LTD, managed by Tutuianu.
All these companies were liquidated between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, after Plahotniuc fled Moldova. The Moldovan anti-corruption prosecutor's office opened a case for the purchase of equipment and services by Moldtelecom from SRL Bass Systems. The prosecutors confirmed that Burcea was interviewed in this criminal case, but did not disclose her status.
Burcea also managed a company that benefited from transfers from Plahotniuc’s Cyprus-registered Asia Pacific Textile Limited. This had transactions with the Cypriot offshore Melopmania Limited, the founder of BB-Dializa, a company which managed the dialysis services for the Moldovan health ministry.
BB Dializa also benefited from legal services from Cyprus-registered Kinanis offshore, founded by Burcea. The company also provided secretarial and legal services for Assentis Holdings Limited, one of the founders of Bass Systems SRL.
Asia Pacific Textile LTD received money from the Energokapital shell company. Between 2014 and 2016, the firm was used by Plahotniuc and Evgheni Shevciuk, former leader of Moldova’s breakaway region of Transnistria, to sell the electricity produced by the Russian-owned Moldgres Power Plant to Moldovan consumers.
The Black Box team tracked Energokapital's connections with Plahotniuc and the involvement of former DP deputy Vladimir Andronachi in the company's management.
Moldova’s service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering established the connection between Burcea and two other offshore companies involved in looting a billion dollars from the country’s banking system: Sharp Prospects Limited and Lazomar Trading Limited, registered in Hong Kong and Cyprus respectively.
According to an international independent financial audit named the Kroll report, the Lazomar company received 5.6 million dollars in transfers to a Cypriot bank account. The Kroll report was commissioned by the National Bank of Moldova to investigate the theft that ravaged the country’s banking system.
Plahotniuc did not respond to requests for comment. His lawyer Lucian Rogac said that the former politician pleaded not guilty in the case generically called "blank passport cards".
"An indictment was presented to us. Other evidence to prove guilt was not shown by the prosecution. The only comment I can give you is that my client pleads not guilty to the charges," Rogac said.
In September 2022 Plahotniuc received an arrest warrant in absentia regarding the "blank passport cards" case, alongside Vladislav Zara, former director of the civil registry ASP, ex-PD deputy Andronachi and businessman Alexandru Vilcu. All of them have fled the country. According to Moldova’s ministry of justice, Plahotniuc is currently in Northern Cyprus.
