How about high tension between a male yautja and human. Where one gets drunk and finally yells that they want to fuck them already.
Tensions Run High
Pairing: Icheall-Dua (male Yautja) x GN!Reader
Word Count: 2555
Summary: It was at a gathering for Yautjas and humans alike on a different planet than Yautja Prime. You had been constantly trying to hit up Icheall-Dua and he couldn’t get the idea! So, one night, during a feast of celebration that Icheall-Dua was going to become leader of the clan, you get drunk. A very bad thing. You have loose lips. When you tried again with Icheall-Dua and he doesn’t get it again, you straight up yell it in front of the clan.
Author Note: I realized this has taken me two months to get to. Sorry that production has slowed down. I've been grinding away at my game. Also, I didn't know if you wanted spicy or not, so I decided to leave it out just encase. Enjoy!
Masterlist
Ao3
Sonorous voices that boomed across the clearing filled the air. Joyous in nature. Prideful for the years to come. Every rise and fall of the suns to bring a life and challenges to the clan. You held up a cup of a drink that was considered alcohol. Between a Yautja and human mixture of potent alcohol, deluded for yourself.
It reminded you of whiskey with the slight burn with each sip you took. A drink not meant for shots. Rather just to take sips here and there. It’ll still knock you on your ass three drinks later. So, you took your time to consume the interesting taste of the smokey concoction.
Despite living among the predators of the universe and showing we are equals rather than enemies, the two species have come together. Some clans as you’ve heard are more reluctant, or rather downright say no, to allowing humans into their ranks.
Others, like the one you live in, are more accepting if you pull your own. You will not be babied. If you die, you die. A kill or be killed world on this planet. This isn’t even Yautja Prime. Yet, its dangers rival Yautja Prime.
You breathed in the marshes stagnant air. Though the division is still evident; Yautjas with Yautjas and humans with humans, you couldn’t help but find yourself drawn to Icheall-Dua. Marsh green and cream bellied. His scales are basic compared to those you’ve seen throughout your time through a few clans.
What Icheall-Dua lacks in different physical aspects, he makes up in his skills. From the words whispered amongst the clan, he’s a prodigy. He’s the next best thing. A male anyone would kill to be but could never get to his level. Yet, no matter how many times you try to send the right signals in Icheall-Dua’s direction, he doesn’t see it! The skulls, the meat, the Yautja way of courting!
Weeks of research were put into this before you attempted the first time. It should’ve been clear as a peacock spreading its tail feathers. No though. He accepted the gifts but never said anything after that.
At first, you drew back to ensure what you read was correct. Skulls of creatures are the first step. You did just that. Yeah, it wasn’t the dangerous creature on this planet but it nearly killed you! His obliviousness didn’t deter you though. You took a slow sip of your drink again, eyes sliding over to the beast that filled your thoughts.
A large cup filled with a similar concoction to your own was cupped in one of his large hands. Two of three fingers missing on that hand. You knew there was harrowing story to explain what happened. A story you would love to listen to with his deep, grating voice. The sound crunchy like stepping on a gravel road. Another sip downed the rest of the liquid.
With a sigh, you stepped around the larger species that filled the space to the bar tender. A night like this was to be celebrated with alcohol always being included.
After living around these guys for a quarter of your life time, you have learned it’s best to slip between them. Some will shift their weight allow you easier access around them. Yet, many have the mindset not to move for anything. You’ve learned to be slippery rather than it becoming a dick measuring contest. Not submission but avoiding unnecessary fighting. Why get wounded if it all could be avoided? Somethings in this culture you’ll never come to understand.
Once you reached the bar tender again, you set your empty glass on the counter and tapped twice. Ci’tha grunted and immediately got to work. Your drink was set in front of you with a tangy tasting fruit on the rim. You thanked the yellow based Yautja with a dip of your head then leaned against the count with your back to it. People watching.
Other humans were amongst the crowd, mingling with mainly other humans. Only a select few were chatting away with the friendlier Yautjas in the clan. None of them dared to go close to Icheall-Dua nor his father who had a permanent scowl etched into his worn features. A life lived through the ways of a Yautja of hunting and gaining scars along the way.
Icheall-Dua went to sip at his cup only to find it empty and shook his cup. You instantly noticed and spun around to face Ci’tha. “Do you remember what Icheall-Dua is having?” you rushed out and jerked your head over towards Icheall-Dua direction. The poor yellow Yautja jolted at the sudden move then glared at you. You sheepishly smiled an apology at him.
Ci’tha rolled his eyes and nodded. “Yeah, I do. Why?” he grunted and raised a brow at you.
“Can you make it? Yautja sized?” you sweetly asked the lanky Yautja who stood in your way of impressing Icheall-Dua some more. Though, the two of you didn’t talk on the regular, he could see what was happening. He rolled his blue eyes again before got to work.
The large mug was set before you. You threw a thanks towards Ci’tha before snatching it racing through the sea of bodies. At points, you nearly shoved your way through but reframed from starting a fight. All you had was a mug and a small knife not long enough to hit anything important on a Yautja.
After breeching the main crowd of people, you were able to make your way up to Icheall-Dua standing in all of his glory. His father only a couple of steps away from him, speaking to another Yautja. Icheall-Dua, himself, was crowd watching until you stopped before him.
“Hello… I saw your cup was empty and retrieved one for you,” you spoke up and presented the cup to him. His sky blue eyes looked down upon over the jut of his small snout. Icheall-Dua blinked slowly in boredom, gaze glancing to the cup in your hand.
He reached out and took it. A critical eye peered and inspected the contents. You gnawed on your bottom lip, in hopes he would accept the drink but nothing else was working. Maybe a drink would win him over.
The Yautja raised his shoulders in a shrug and gulped from the cup. You silently cheered to yourself, praying this was him finally noticing your advances towards him.
Next to him, Zutouh, his father, leaned over and scoffed at you. It didn’t deter you though. Through his one good eye, he analyzed you. Not all Yautjas still accept humans into their ranks. The older generations such as Zutouh are part of that. You’re used to it at this point, even dealing with clans who would kill you on sight.
“Great party,” you tried to start small talk in hopes to get Icheall-Dua to open up a little more. “What’s it for?” A closed mouth smile was directed towards Icheall-Dua.
Icheall-Dua kept his nonchalant expression plastered to his face. “I’m becoming the clan leader,” he stated as if it was an everyday thing. You tensed up mid sip of your drink, eyes darting over to his marsh green hide.
Well yeah. Zutouh is his father and the clan leader. Yet, each Yautja usually has a bunch of children. You didn’t know Icheall-Dua was next in line to ascend the throne. By Paya’s grace, you truly didn’t stand a chance against any of the females who would flock to him. Clan leader got you lots of perks. A title Icheall-Dua had to have earned out of all of his siblings.
“That’s amazing! Are you excited?” you kept up with the small talk, using questions to get answers from him. You gulped down a mouthful of your drink again as it started to affect your mind and rational thinking. “Of course, a male such as yourself with that physique definitely deserves that position.”
Drunk words were sober thoughts.
Alcohol gave you loose lips.
Zutouh snorted and shook his massive head in disbelief. You didn’t care though. What you said was true. Icheall-Dua was built well, the prodigy everyone saw him as.
One of his upper manibles quirked up for less than a second yet you caught it. “This is my destiny.” His answer short, barely even sweet. You nearly deflated at that but an idea came to him.
“Well, does your destiny have me included in it?” you flirted with him again like all the times before. You hoped he would finally get the big picture you were waving in front of him.
This caught Icheall-Dua off guard. The Yautja nearly choked on his drink you graciously provided for him and snapped his gaze to you. Hope flickered in your eyes as you noticed you had more of his attention on you. His hand tightened on his cup, claws slightly scraping across the glass wear.
Except, it all faded away when he pulled back that nonchalant expression and shrugged again. You could almost scream at him for that. Your nose flared with a snort, lips pressed tightly into a line. The alcohol in your system not helping one bit. A near glare was settled on the stupid marsh colored Yautja who you’ve pinned for the last few months.
Like a volcano, there’s only so much you could hold in.
“For the love of everything unholy, I want to fuck you!” you shouted at the top of your lungs, fire blazing in your veins while you stared this male down. “I’ve been trying for months the Yautja way to get your attention. And-and nothing! You hadn’t acknowledge my attempts or even told me to stop! I don’t know what I can do anymore.”
It all came out. Ranitng out your horrible experience trying to court a Yautja their way. All this research was false, wrong. It led you on for months and left you to feel this angry… in front of a crowd.
Your shoulders heaved with each lungful breath. The crowd around you had gone silence due to your shouting. The realization struck you, dosing you in freezing cold water. Your shoulders tensed up, eyes wide, glued to the spot. Nothing could make you move until Icheall-Dua took a step towards you.
Then, you spun on your tail and darted between humans and Yautja alike, a stumbling, drunk mess. They didn’t part for you, even when you ran into them but when a shadow gave chase, they instantly let him through. Your arm was snatched in a vice grip that would bruise tomorrow. Heat slammed into your chest, forcing you to pressed to his torso. Tears pooled the lips of your eyes as you looked everywhere but him. You couldn’t see the rage of you interrupting his celebration, of you ruining the night with this silly crush.
Your entire jaw was swallowed up by a hand and forcefully tilted your head back. Through blurry tears, you find his blue eyes on you.
“Say that again,” he demanded with a voice he used to lead. You tried to struggle against him, nearly turning your head enough to bite his fingers. Nothing worked to get him off of you. Icheall-Dua easily far stronger in close quarters… yet, you didn’t want to hurt him anyhow.
“Why? So you can embarrass me in front of everyone. Show everyone how much of a fool I was? To think I had a chance with you?” you snarled then paused for a pregnant moment. He squeezed his hand tighter on your jaw in a short warning. Icheall-Dua wasn’t one to be around humans often, he didn’t understand their fragileness. “Should’ve brushed me off the first time I gifted you a skull.”
None of this would be happening if he had.
“And why would I do that? I was following the advice given to me by your fellow humans for your courting rituals.” If he didn’t have such a tight grip, you would’ve jerked your head back. Instead, you raised your brows instead.
He was following dating advice… What had they told him? Also, dating?! Your heart started to thump loudly in your ears, like war drums. He had gone out of his way to ask for advice.
A lump in your throat made it hard to speak. “What, what was the advice?” you questioned and untensed your muscles. The Yautja responded by easing up his grasp on your jaw and wrist. Icheall-Dua didn’t let you go fully though. Not that you could outrun a Yautja in the first place.
His gaze deviated over to a group of humans who were staring the two of you down. Everyone part of the party was. “Samual said to ‘play hard to get’. It get’s people needy.” Oh, you were going to kill Samual when you had the chance. All these months of torture because that dumbass told him horrible advice.
You couldn’t help the breath of relief that escaped your lungs. Then, you began to laugh and shook in his hold. “That’s the worst advice anyone could give you. No, ‘playing hard to get’ is the worst way to show someone you’re into them.” Your laughter died down. “And I thought my research was a fraud when you didn’t react to any of the gifts I gave you.”
Icheall-Dua growled lowly in his chest and spread his mandibles in a display towards the humans. The group jolted and instantly scrambled away to be hidden away in the crowd. With them gone, he returned his attention back on you. “You did well and everything right. I apologize I wasn’t properly conveying my feelings towards you. Will you forgive me?”
All that tension in your shoulders you’ve been holding for months finally fell off. “Yes, yes. I forgive you and whatever stupid advice Samual gave you. I would say to do research but… that has also bad information as well.” His hand on your wrist released you to cup your waist. Goosebumps immediately rose on your arms. A tingle running down your spine.
“And what were you saying early? If my memory serves correct: you want to fuck me?” Oh god, he just had to bring that up! Heat instantly rushed your cheeks.
“That’s-that’s just the alcohol talking. I’m drunk. Had some drinks… I don’t know what you mean,” you did everything in your power to get him off of that.
“Daring little thing,” he mused and ran his thumb claw across your lips. Just a little more pressure and he could slice the feeble skin apart. “Taking more than they can chew.” You knew you had chosen right. He was still going to fuck with you though.
He leaned down so only the next words were spoken directly at you. “Once this party ends, would you like to start the night back in my tent?” he whispered. Your brain blanked. Not a single thought entered your mind for a long, unknown amount of time.
When some of the fog cleared, you rapidly nodded your head, eager. “My naughty little ooman.” He returned to his full towering height and offered his hand to you. “Come along, I know of seat you wouldn’t want to leave.”
Curses filled your head, the only thing to make sense in your fray of mental words to yourself. The things you could do to him.

Among the events mentioned in the Quran, there's one incident Allah subhanahuwata'ala Tells us about. The fight between armies of Talut and Jalut. When Bani Israel fell into multiple errors, sins Allah subhanahuwata'ala tested them with Tasleet - a form of imposing upon them a tyrant ruler - Jalut. It's said that Jalut and his junood - armies killed, looted and oppressed Bani Israel in every possible way, major of them being snatching the Tawrah and Tabut from them. This lead to them turning back to Allah for aid and the prophethood resumed. The events take a turn and Bani Israel are ready to fight under the leadership of Talut - a wise, pious servant of Allah. Againt being tested for their obedience through a river. Eventually, Believers win the battle being 313 in number against 250k-400k of armed forces, when Dawood Alayhissalam (who wasn't given prophethood at that time) struck Jalut and killed him immediately. And army of Jalut retreats defeated.
This battle is where believers make the Dua "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feets and help us against the disbelievers"
The relevance of this event today is striking. We as an Ummah have failed in obedience to Allah subhanahuwata'ala at so many levels...then how can we expect that we will live in this world victorious and in peace? But for now, we should be grateful that Allah has already blessed us with what we need to overcome the enemy. The Quran and Sunnah. Tawrah (it's copy) was snatched by the tyrants, but we still have Quran in our hands, probably it's still in our shelf, untouched. We don't have to wait for a prophethood to resume because we still have the Sunnah of the Final Messenger Muhammad ﷺ alive within the books. And that's the irony for us, our biggest blessings, biggest source of knowledge, wisdom and guidance are still in the Books and not in our 'aamal.
There's a hadith that states,
“When you partake in usury, hold on to the tails of cattle, become satisfied with cultivation and abandon Jihād, Allah will send upon you humiliation and He will not remove it until you return back to your religion.”
Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani)
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462
Look at us...what are we living our lives for?
When the Yahud are preparing themselves to eradicate Muslims because they know it's Haqq that has been sent down to us, we Muslims are ignoring that Haqq. They hold enmity and hatred for us because we are the Ummah of RasulAllah ﷺ, the Final Messenger sent to Mankind but we're ignorant of following the Sunnah of that very Prophet ﷺ
We're so consumed by our Worldly affairs we have forgotten to live feesabeeliAllah. We forgot our purpose. We abandoned the things the Yahud are killing us for. Our Deen. Ironic, isn't it?
But let this be a wake up call for us. To leave off things of temporary world and to work for the Aakhirah. For the Deen of Allah. Let us take the bravery of our brothers n sisters in Palestine as an example to rekindle the faith and courage to live n die for the sake of Allah. If the enemy is preparing for the arrival of False Masiah (Dajjal) so they could stand with him.. We should too, prepare ourselves for his arrival so we could be protected from his fitnah and stand against him in the army of believers.
Instead of wishing for return of Khalid Bin Waleed, Salahuddin Ayyubi (May Allah be pleased with them) why not learn from their life and Instill the same skills within us?
Remember, Allah subhanahuwata'ala says,
"....And if Allāh had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allāh - never will He waste their deeds." (Surah Muhammad Ayah 4)
It's a test for all of us. So gather upon Quran and Sunnah, because therein is our aid. And stand firmly to aid the Deen of Allah. Save your Eimaan and strive to the best of your abilities.
PS : The picture is just for your attention, because apparently we need romanticism in everything when it comes to Deen :)
PS 2: The Dua of believers I mentioned is in Surah Al Baqarah ayah 250. Do read it's Tafseer for full context, I've tried summarising it here.

I know Taylor is the most popular one but why is Taylor hated more than other white pop stars? Where does this energy go for Harry,Billie, dua, ariana etc. I am in other fandoms too so I keep seeing posts from other people about her. One was who is your para social enemy and hands down it was Taylor lmao. As a poc it was like are they are no other white people who benefit from their color and privilege. The small bands and artists they like are also white lmao. The other was who is worse swifties or some annoying video game and my god the tags were something else. Peopel were calling her a nepo baby, killing the planet single handlely, bland, boring, worst lyricist, mishaps they remember but convinently didnt keep up with her apologising, sexism that she whines about men, celebs suck but she is treated as a petal etc. When will have a conversation that other white celebs, actors, models, directors too should be held to this standard and how much is this media's fault to make this very young woman in the name of activism. How did the left and us morally superior people became so comfortable to hammer in on a teenager and early 20s in public eye on the receiving end of so much mockery. People relentlessly mock her for dating and call her a whore on main. It's part of her image that she is a man eater. It's not like other celebs don't fuck up but we don't hold the same standard and don't care so no think pieces. Arent we to be blamed for our obsession with her and plain old sexism?
she holds a mirror up to a society that a lot of other musicians do not and also much of it isn't within her control - it's just the era. i kind of see it as taylor being a symbol of both purity culture and cancel culture in different ways. that's A LOT of cultural weight to put on her, you are right, and it's not fair.

Q. When and how is Qunoot-e-Naazilah recited and what is its ruling?
A. Qunoot-e-Naazilah is recited whenever the Muslim Ummah is faced with a major catastrophe or crisis.
Qunoot-e-Naazilah is recited in the second Rakaat of the Fajr Salaah after rising from Ruku’ into the standing (Qaumah) posture and before going into prostration (Sajdah) whilst keeping the hands one’s sides.
In a congregation, the Imaam will recite the Qunoot-e-Naazilah aloud and the followers (Muqtadi’s) should say ‘Ameen’ softly at the end of each Dua recited of the Qunoot-e-Naazilah.
Qunoot-e-Naazilah may also be recited softly by women performing Fajr Salaah at home or by any person performing Fajr Salaah individually.
It is preferable (Mustahab) to recite Qunoot-e-Naazilah as frequently as possible until such a catastrophe or crisis facing the Muslim Ummah settles or subsides.
Sayyiduna Ansa Bin Maalik Radhiyallahu Anhu reports that “Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam recited Qunut for a month in the Fajr Salaah after Ruku’ and invoked curse upon Bani Usayya.” (Muslim)
The Qunoot-e-Naazilah is as follows:
“O Allah guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, befriend me among those You have befriended, bless me in what You have granted, and save me from the evil that You have decreed. Indeed! You decree, and none can pass decree upon You. Indeed! he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, blessed are You our Lord and Exalted.
O Allah, forgive us and the believing men and women and Muslim men and women, unite their hearts with mutual love, set right their mutual affairs and help them against theirs and Your enemy. O Allah, let Your curse be on those disbelievers who reject Your prophets and kill Your chosen ones. O Allah, make difficult their plans, shake their feet and give them such punishment which is not turned away from a sinning people.” (Tirmidhi Shaami 2/6)
It is also permissible to add appropriate Dua’s to the Qunoot-e-Naazilah in Salaah in Arabic that are applicable to a particular circumstance which gives more meaning, effect and relevance to one’s Dua, for e.g. making Dua for the help and assistance of the Muslims in Palestine, Syria, Bangladesh, Kashmir, India and for the Muslims suffering all over the world. (Badaaius-Sanaai’1/273 – Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah 7/171 – Fataawa Raheemiyyah 6/23 – Jawaahirul Fiqh 6/81 –)

The honor of Martyrdom in Islam
Here in this article, I will discuss different types of and legal rulings relating to martyrdom. I will focus on current developments in the law of martyrdom. I will begin by outlining who is a martyr in Islam, types of martyr, main and subsidiary, a discussion of Qur’anic revelation on martyrdom, the reward of a martyr, and future developments.
Who is a martyr in Islam?
Traditionally Martyrdom is considered to apply to those who die in battle, holy jihad. This is known as Shahadah Haqeeqiyyah, real matrtyrdom.
Such would include someone who dies on the battlefield, such as the Prophet’s (Pbuh) uncle, Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib (RA), who was killed whilst in battle. Such martyrs are buried in their blood stained or injured clothing whereas other martyrs are given the ghusl bath and full funeral rites such as the wearing of the khimar (long headscarf), or clean white clothing. However, the funeral prayer is the same for both. Both require that the family exercise patience until reunited on the day of judgment and that the martyr be granted a high status in heaven in the meantime.
The second type of martyrdom is Shahadah Hukmiyyah, or legal martyrdom. This covers the additional 7 martyrdoms revealed in Hadith and another 25 martyrdoms revealed in the books of Fiqh and hadith. Such include for instance medical martyrdoms.
A Martyr is granted the status of shaheed or witness. Thus, the martyr will testify in the way in which Allah wishes him to, such as against himself or his community as revealed in the Qur’an. The purpose for this is justice, so that mankind does not have an argument against Allah on the day of judgement. The Prophet pbuh is a main witness but witnesses are taken by Allah to confirm the truth of the Qur’an for example.
Thus, the martyr is judged according to his deeds and time and place in which he existed. For example, the famous second caliph Umar Ibn Al-Khattab was martyred whilst reading prayer. Such martyrdom dying in an act of worship attracts a higher reward, but he will be a witness as the spread of Islam at the time and which nations had yet to accept Islam. This can be important if a Muslim is forced to recant his faith by the enemy and then dies at their hands. Such a martyr testifies to his own belief, and other witnesses are taken on an ongoing basis to testify to the condition of mankind. Various Qur’anic Ayat’s on witnesses testify to this truth, and for further discussion on this see verses [3:18, 3:53, 3:98, 4:135, 4:166, 4:41, 6:19, 10:29, 16:84, 17:78, 25:72, 33:45, and 48:8].
Perhaps Umar is renowned for his prayer for shaheed/martyrdom in the following dua;
“Oh Allah! I ask you for martyrdom in your cause and death in the land of your messenger Pbuh.”
Types of martyrdom and contemporary developments
Apart from real martyrdom there are numerous hadith and fiqh book relating to martyrdom.
There contemporary relevance is considered from the categories they fall into bearing in mind that Allah controls everything despite free will and that with martyrdom he teats mankind to see who is sincere in faith. Contemporary developments of these categories help us to understand the meaning and purpose of the hadith/fiqh books.
For instance, the hadith by Abu Dawood reveals 7 types of martyrs.
The first one is due to the plague.
In contemporary society this would include the disease of covid 19 which has been a very serious illness which has been discussed by the scholars as being within the definition of plague and therefore anyone who ides form it is classed as a martyr. An example is the people of Yemen whose circumstances are compounded by civil war and lack of medical provisions where hundreds of Muslims have died of the plague.
The second one is the one who passes away due to drowning.
This would include those martyrs numbering 1700 that have lost their lives in Pakistan due to the flooding that has taken place there. As such natural disasters and the effects of climate change have impacted on the events causing martyrdom. The fact is that drowning is only available for believers as in the Qur’an both Prophet Nuh’s son and Pharaoh were killed by drowning and neither died a believer.
The third instance is that of the one who passes away in pleurisy.
This Is considered to cover heart complications such as heart disease, angina or breast cancer in modern medical terminology. As such anyone dying from these diseases is granted the status of a martyr.
The fourth instance in the one who dies due to a abdominal disease. The abdomen is taken to cover a large part of the area of body such as kidneys , bladder pancreas and stomach. This death form diabetes, stomach poisoning, or failure of a vital organ such as kidney failure all lead to such martyrdom. It is also possible that starvation may be covered by this instance.
The fifth instance of martyrdom is being burnt. This covers religious hate crime where fires are started in people’s homes such as the recent case in the UK where 8 men were convicted of murdering a family of three children and their mother in an arson attack.
The sixth is one who passes away due to being crushed under something..
The famous female martyr Asiya bint Muzahim, the wife of pharaoh died under a rock by the evil of Pharoah. She made dua’ to Allah found in Surat Tahrim 66:11
“My Lord, build for me a house near thee in the garden and deliver me from Pharaoh and his evil deeds and deliver me form the unjust people.”
It is thought that she married a Prophet and had his children in the garden and was rewarded with happy family life and gifts from her family and form Allah, such as honourable mention in the Prophet Mohammad pbuh revelation the Qur’an, many years after her death.
The final one of the seven is the woman who dies in childbirth.
This is a tragic condition that results from pregnancy complications.
There are other subsidiary types of martyrdom that are relevant to the modern day. These include.
The one who passes away in a state of travelling.
The one who dies due to lung disease.
One who falls from a riding animal or epilepsy.
The one who dies in a state of fever.
The one who is killed whilst protecting his rights to wealth, life and family. Such martyrs include Tupac Shakur, who was killed due to envy and jealousy towards his success and wealth.
Many martyrs have died protecting their right to life, such as Malcolm X and Benazir Bhutto both important leaders of the Muslim community. Also, the first woman martyr after the advent of Islam was a black slave woman and her husband, both of which were martyred. Other important martyrs who died due to belief are though to include, the Prophets Zakariya and Yahya. The slave girl of Pharaoh’s daughter was also killed due to reciting bismillah, after dropping a comb.
The one who is mutilated by a beast.
The one who is imprisoned by a ruler unjustly and dies. Deaths in prison of Muslims are caught by this section in that they are denied sharia justice, which means that they are unable to repent for the sin committed by them through Prayer seeking forgiveness, holding a number of fasts or paying compensation to the victims of crime, all provided for in the Qur’an
The one who is beaten and dies due to it. Such cases would include police brutality, and domestic violence and honor killings.
The one who passes away due to the bite of a poisonous animal such as a snake.
Reward of a martyr
The reward of a martyr includes;
The martyr acts as a witness of various types, as discussed above.
Forgiveness of all sins except debt, which his family are to provide for.
Intercession for 70 of his relatives. This is a praised positions generally reserved for the Prophet Muhammad pbuh for all of the Muslim ummah. Thus, the martyr is raised in ranking and can intercede or act for or represent his relatives to receive divine mercy from their Lord on the day of judgment.
The martyr escapes thew trial for the day of judgment and enters heaven such as in (Surat Ya Seen) when the martyr exclaims that had people known how much my lord had favoured me they would not be in a state of unbelief. This is a major achievement as the scales of justice have been set up to test us to our deeds and rewards. However, martyrs are also ranked according to their deeds and the time and place and circumstances in which they died, such as genocide against them as in China.
The martyr receives the reward of 70 houri.
A female martyr receives the blessing of spouse and children and works on her family relations, which are made more blessed and harmonious for her.
The martyr is accorded provision of a very high calibre in heaven. The main achievement is to obtain a bounty such as a full Qur’an bounty or surahs which can be used to secure spiritual gifts from Allah, e.g., Islamic art classes, taught by angels.
Now I will discuss the Qur’anic revelation on martyrdom in more detail. There are 10 main Ayat’s that the Tafseer of the Qur’an goes on to explain in detail. Here I will discuss them in context of their meaning.
“And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah” They are dead”. Rather they are alive, but you perceive it not.” Ayat 2:154
“And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather they are alive with their lord, receiving provision.” Ayat 3:169
These two Ayat’s reinforce the view that martyrs are alive, living in the garden. The evil which killed them has not succeeded in taking their life and denying them the right to live. Indeed, martyrdom grants people eternal life in heaven. Because they exist in another dimension, that of heaven, their new life cannot be perceived by the people of the earth. Here they receive provision form their Lord and can have what they wish for.
“And whoever obeys Allah and the messenger, those will be the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favour of the Prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous . And excellent are those as companions. “Ayat 4:69
This Ayat demonstrates a preaching right in the garden for these specially reserved people. The Prophets include all those bound by the seal of Muhammad, and its finality, including 124,000 number of Prophets Allah sent to the world. The truthful ones include the likes of Abu Bakr Siddique, the truthful caliph after the Prophet died. To earn this rank the person has to be firmly on the path f the truth of the Qur’an and Sunnah and implement it in their daily lives in an honest manner, engaging in no deceit such as a truthful trader. The Martyrs come next and then the righteous. This category may include the major scholars over the course of Islamic history, such as Bukhari, who collected his famous compilation of hadith. The righteous also include those who follow the Qur’anic verses on righteousness and try to live life accordingly.
This collection of virtuous people work together on a lawful preaching right in the garden. For example, they work on high levels of Islamic knowledge and on the excellence of companionship with the last three raised in ranking to pray and preach alongside the Prophets, being good companions.
“And those who have believed in Allah and his messengers – those are in the ranks of the supporters of truth and the martyrs, with their Lord. For them is their reward ands their light. But those who have disbelieved and denied our verses – those are the companions of hellfire.” Ayat 57:19
This Ayat builds on the previous Ayat. The condition here is that of belief in Allah and his messengers. An example would be the disciples of the Prophet Isa, who were his helpers and some of them were martyred. Also, some of the companions of the Prophet were also martyred. They testify to the truth of the holy spirit against false claims of divinity that the Christians propagate. Thus they support the truth, and their precious existence testifies to he truth of their martyrdom, such as a martyrdom that supports belief in Al Wahid, the one Allah. They thus support the truth against idol worship during their time and act as an important support to Allah’s truth.
They are amply rewarded for this and receive their light. Light in this context can mean a variety of the concept of An Nur. Firstly, it is one of Allah’s greatest names, he who created light. The next is a preaching right of the Qur’an, which takes people out of the darkness into the light of faith. The Qur’an is thus a light of illuminating knowledge. The Prophet Muhammad walks with a light, the light of faith and his preaching was a light also. There are signs of light that Allah has created, such as the moon, stars and the sun. All provide light during the day, and rest during the night. Finally, there is the spiritual light of wisdom, belief and patience as the martyr must wait until judgement day to be reunited with his family. For further discussion of the importance of light in Islam see Ayat’s 2:257, 4:174, 5:16, 71:16, 6:1, 9:32, 10:5, 14:1, 24:35, 33:43, and 39.22
“And if you are killed in the cause of Allah or die, then forgiveness form Allah and mercy are better than whatever they accumulate in this world.” Ayat 3.157
The tafsir on this Ayat refers to the saying of those that the wealth and worldly pleasures of the world would have not been lost if the martyrs had not died. Thus, Allah makes clear that the wealth of the world is in no way better than martyrdom and the level of mercy and forgiveness is supreme, such as forgiveness form all sins and escape of the day of judgement a day when no one will avail anyone else. Thus, the martyrs gifts and recompense are very high.
“And those who emigrated for the cause of Allah and then were killed or died, Allah will surely provide for them a good provision. And indeed, it is Allah who is the best of providers.” Ayat 22:58
This takes in those who migrated to Medina as the first set of emigrants, who went to establish and protect their faith, from idol worship, persecution and disbelief. In the modern context, for example the United Kingdom has been host to many Muslim emigrants, and they are sent here to establish faith such as the number of mosques in the country which have steadily increased over time, thereby establishing proper worship. Muslims have brought legal caselaw to escape form torturous regimes and faced persecution in their lives that Allah protects them from. Thus, Allah provides them with a good provision in the afterlife for their tenacious preaching of the Muslim faith in foreign lands, for which they are rewarded.
“They receive good tidings of favour from Allah and bounty and of the fact that Allah does not allow the reward of the believers to be lost.” Ayat 3.171
Allah can grant favour to whomsoever he pleases, and bounty in terms of spiritual gifts like, Islamic art tuition, Islamic knowledge, and the drinks of special water of faith from special rivers and milk and honey, as well as full care, being served upon by youths.
“Rejoicing in what Allah has bestowed upon them of his bounty, and they receive good tidings about those to be martyred after them who have not joined them- that there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” Ayat 3.170
The martyr escapes the grief of death and the punishment of the grave and receive news of more martyrs to join them. Allah’s spiritual bounty includes those martyrs who souls are attached to green birds in lanterns and travel throughout Al Jalyban, heaven, eating and drinking what they wish for. They travel throughout heaven and visit gardens and beaches and take part in Islamic knowledge deeds. When Allah asks them about their condition, they reply they are content. When Allah asks them further, they desire their souls should return to the world in order to get martyred again due to the blessing and reward they receive.
“So let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the hereafter, and he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory- we will bestow upon him a great reward.” Ayat 4:74
“If a wound should touch you-there has already touched the opposing people a wound similar to it. And these days of varying conditions we alternate among the people so that Allah may make evident those who believe and may take to himself form amongst you martyrs- and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.” Ayat 3:140
The above two Ayat refer to real martyrdom, that is the one who dies in the battlefield. His reward is made good to him. The second Ayat refers specifically to days of battle. Sometimes wounds will touch people, but they have the great blessing of martyrdom for those who die in battle, whereas the enemy have none of that. Indeed, they are suffering in their graves for the evil deeds they did. Allah provides support and encouragement to those Muslims suffering from war against them such as in Palestine where Allah takes martyrs on a regular basis due to the friction between them and the Jewish people. In fact they are defending the Al Aqsa mosque and important sites of Islam, which grants them a high reward. Finally Allah establishes justice by not liking the wrongdoers, they will have their punishment in hell and the Muslim are to remain patient until such a time as they are reunited with their loved ones who unfortunately died.

"The Appeasement." Surah 30, Ar Rum, "Stripped!"
The Assad Regime which gassed its own people and made President Obama frown is now getting payback. The Problem with payback is it does not fulfill the path of the Islam. We need to study the Quran to learn how the Islam states payback or recompense or appeasement is performed especially when there are shall we say, a bundle of issues to resolve.
Recompense is in fact why Hadith is written. Hadith "recognition" ensures legally firm practices are used to settle disputes between partners, communities, nations, individuals and businesses, and to ensure the State increases in prominence rather than lowered.
Following are the major criteria which will be useful as the civil war in Syria winds down and a new King is crowned. This process, if it follows the Straightest Path, will as Muhammad stated "change the world in an hour."
30: 52-60:
"So you ˹O Prophet˺ certainly cannot make the dead hear ˹the truth˺. Nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs and walk away.
Nor can you lead the blind out of their misguidance. You can make none hear ˹the truth˺ except those who believe in Our revelations, ˹fully˺ submitting ˹to Allah˺.
It is Allah Who created you in a state of weakness, then developed ˹your˺ weakness into strength, then developed ˹your˺ strength into weakness and old age.1 He creates whatever He wills. For He is the All-Knowing, Most Capable.
And on the Day the Hour will arrive, the wicked will swear that they did not stay ˹in this world˺ more than an hour. In this way they were always deluded ˹in the world˺.
But those gifted with knowledge and faith will say ˹to them˺, “You did actually stay—as destined by Allahuntil the Day of Resurrection. So here is the Day of Resurrection ˹which you denied˺! But you did not know ˹it was true˺.”
So on that Day the wrongdoers’ excuses will not benefit them, nor will they be allowed to appease ˹their Lord˺.
We have certainly set forth every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people in this Quran. And no matter what sign you bring to them ˹O Prophet˺, the disbelievers will definitely say ˹to the believers˺, “You are only a people of falsehood.”
This is how Allah seals the hearts of those unwilling to know ˹the truth˺.
So be patient, for the promise of Allah certainly is true. And do not be disturbed by those who have no sure faith."
Commentary:
Hadith is written to reveal the truth between all parties gathered and create equity. Liars and cheaters are always outwitted by the Hadith, which defines how the Quran shall be employed to turn bitter persons into sweet melons, and put an end to all disturbances. The secret and the conclusion to the Surah "strength through knowledge into old age."
As the Prophet says in 8:60, we must prepare for peace and prosperity even when we are delivering the killing blow to the enemy. They go hand in hand. One must not exist without the other- a long-term strategy for the nation is as much a military strategy as how many men and bullets one will need in order to repel or conquer the enemy.
We have said those girls in Syria who are fighting for liberation do not know which end is up but certainly they do. They know they do not want to live like horses any longer, they want to be riders.
So to conclude the Surah and our Dua on how to write a Hadith we must say all wars, battles, arguments, times of civil unrest which resolve in resurrection must appease all the Pillars of Allah is to remember what it was once like, to remain aware in some places it has never changed at all.
The Quran was given to teach men how to engineer rather than weather change. Peace be upon the engineers.
Societies that value superior free public education and encourage the attainment of one's lifelong pedigree are the happiest and the freest. The thrust for public eduction and other public works alone can cure places like Syria, Russia, Iran, even ailing parts of Eurpope and the United Kingdom of the causes of war.
Enlisting and paying teachers in every discipline very well provides a peace loving society with all it needs to endure. The people of Syria should start recruiting for them right now.
I like the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates. It follows the precepts in the Quran we have discussed in recent times.
Thus ends the Surah.
عروماما
Ar , Ru, and Mum
"Remember the Vision of Ummah, of Mary the Mother of God."
I like the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates. It follows the precepts in the Quran we have discussed in recent times. It contains protections for property owners and guarantees free public education.

TASK 04: PLAYLIST.
listen to the full playlist here.
FAWN - CRYWOLF. in a flash the wicked won. oh the moment seemed so, moments seemed to clear i'll rest your weary head beside my own. i will take these clothes and cover you my dear. god bless your soul, he has not blessed mine. / till you’re lonely and forlorn with all your oaths. you’re my heart, my rain, my poison, my fawn.
JOLT - UNLIKE PLUTO. and some will take the high road, i will go low. there's nothing left behind me, set fire to it all. the fury will fade and the images too. a world without you, that's what i need to do.
MOTH - DUA SALEH. i’m just getting settled in the den. making my amends with the devil in the ends. / i swear that i’m the man in the tower. i got a lawn chair to watch the bloom of the hours. you got a moncler. i wear the stink of the flowers. you got them big ben butterflies spring to devour.
I DO WHAT I WANT - MISSIO. i wish i could party like i used to when i was young. now i like to party by myself, i swear it's just as fun. / living the cocaine lifestyle is overrated. this isn't mexico, it's reality. and all of you party people don't get your feelings hurt. i'm incapable of being how you want me.
THE GUN - LORN. old wars, bad dreams. starlights must lead where they lay. new scars, dumb genes. my lady loves looking down at me. new name, no meaning. still looking for the same old feeling.
THROUGH THE VALLEY - SHAWN JAMES. i walk through the valley of the shadow of death. and i'll fear no evil because i'm blind to it all. and my mind and my gun, they comfort me. because i know i'll kill my enemies when they come. / still, i walk beside the still waters, and they restore my soul. but i can't walk on the path of the right because i'm wrong.
INTRO (CREATURES OF HABIT) - GRETA ISAAC. however, if the spawn of a habit is mistreated.. guided by a trembling weak mind. the habit can inflame, and control of your very own desire can soon become out of control. the swelling of this dark defect can transform said habit into a disposition. an addiction. a sickness. a venomous enemy. / i'm caught in the same old ways. same old chain. don't want it.
BELLYACHE - BILLIE EILISH. my friends aren't far. in the back of my car lay their bodies. / my v is for vendetta. thought that i'd feel better. but now i got a bellyache. / the way i wear my noose like a necklace. i wanna make 'em scared. like i could be anywhere.
KEROSENE - CRYSTAL CASTLES. light of god dimming weak. nothing's wrong go back to sleep. lost the will at infancy. / i'll protect you from all the things i've seen. and i'll clean your wounds. rinse them with saline.
AFFECTION - CRYSTAL CASTLES. catch a moth, hold it in my hand. crush it casually. without past i can't disappoint. my ancestry.
LOVELY - BILLIE EILISH FT. KHALID. thought i found a way. thought i found a way out. but you never go away. so i guess i gotta stay now. / oh, i hope some day i'll make it out of here. even if it takes all night or a hundred years. need a place to hide, but i can't find one near. wanna feel alive, outside i can't fight my fear.
PATIENCE - LOW ROAR. sick of losing my patience. out of time, lacking rhythm. barely conscious, oversensitized. feeling weaker as i stumble around.
OUTLAWS - AU/RA. running out the door aiming for the waist down. pulling up the car, boy we're on the run now. had to wide the roads, light the fuse and stand back. all our hopes and dreams stuffed into this backpack. / see our faces on the posters by the roadside. we were the wanted ones long before the ink dried. we'll be fugitives, running from the mundane. you and i were just born to live in this way.
MINUS SIXTY ONE - WOODKID. minus sixty-one. have i every really loved someone? do i deserve what i've got? now the grid system's turned into traps. and the fear's switching sides. i own a million dollars worth of stock. but i still don't sleep at night. what is it that i've become?
19:00 - DANGER FT. TASHA THE AMAZON. wheels spinnin' on my way outta town, way outta town. they gon' look for me, look for me, i don't wanna be found. / they call me lost, maybe i'm lost, or maybe i'm finally found.
SILVER SCREEN - JONNY T FT. FOREIGN FIGURES. being me, i got to say is gourmet. maybe 'cause i just robbed the bank, ah. why do you still think that i'm charming? just here to crash another party. this tux is feelin' kinda starchy. but i like it. / i come on the silver screen. in a high-speed car chase scene. i could get away, but i love the chase, man. everyone's after me.
BLOODLINE - NORTHLANE FT. HEALTH. i can't escape you. no matter how far i run. i can't erase you. from who i've become. memories coursing through my veins. like the scars in yours, my roots remain. / i was raised in hell. i made it out by myself. i was raised to bleed.
WE ARE WHO WE ARE - MISSIO. it's not unusual to feel a little lonely. but sometimes loneliness can lead to better things. it's not unusual to feel a little guilty when sometimes guiltiness can show you a little more. why do we try to live a lie? it isn't worth it. who you tryna please? 'cause if it's me, it isn't working. we are who we are. that can be hard to accept. we are who we are. there's no reason to regret. we are who we are. life can be a punch to the chest. we are who we are. that can be hard to accept. you don't need to worry 'bout a thing. we are all fucked up human beings.
UGLY FRIENDS - POOLFIRE. i've made amends with my ugly friends. hard to pretend i like to be around them. and sometimes i want to take my fist and throw it through the wall. i know who my friends are and i don't like them at all. behind a beautiful smile all i'm thinking about is myself. when i'm with my friends i'd rather be somewhere else. / i can't feel anything anymore. not anything and i suck the blood from the dirt. wear it in my teeth. look me in my eyes. i-
OFF THE EDGE - HELLOVE FT. ZACK GRAY. i’m drowned in fears. i know i owe you one right into the sea of julia. i color my heart for you and set the walls on fire. now i've fallen into the same lies and i loath it. and i hope that i don't fold, i know. there's nothing here. and i’m holding on to what i lost. i know that. / working down my feelings just to say that i’m sorry. caught up in a maze of all the things that are not me. i buried my faults from you. i let the old grow tired. and i’ve already put my faith in how you saw fit.

short version | long version | spotify wrapped
short version is the link to what you see here, my helpfully abridged version. long version will lead you to the 381 song, 23 hour and 42 minute supercut playlist which i’ve been slowly cultivating since early january. spotify wrapped will lead you to a mixture of the long and the short version, which is honestly pretty accurate but does not helpfully represent my ear worms of the week.
under the cut is me ranting about music, like usual. enjoy!
i. start a war || klergy if history is dead and gone then how did we get here, my god?
So, back in January I was driving home from work one day and this song came on as I was hitting the roundabout on Hamilton Rd, and I was immediately seized by the notion to write a role reversal wangxian AU. This eventually became the echo, as wide as the equator, which I didn't get around to publishing until March, but I wrote the second scene in the fic where Lan Wangji is thrown into the Burial Mounds that night. ii. ily || surf mesa & emilee i love you, baby and if it's quite all right i need you, baby
If I'm remembering right, this is another song that came on as I was driving home from work one day and immediately sunk it's claws into me. Pretty sure I found it in one of the spotify discovery weekly playlists. It's a little more repetitive than I typically like my earworms, but I just could not get it out of my brain. iii. in the blood || darren korb & ashley barrett home is not where you live but who cares when you're gone
Hades! It is a thing that happened to me. Very grand, had a great time. Played it for like two months straight and still whip it out every once in a while. Great game, 100/10. Highly recommend! iv. think about us || little mix oh, you put your hand on my waist and then you pull me close It's a bop. I love Little Mix's music, and this is the first I've heard of theirs since I found Salute in my Allison Argent phase back in... 2015? Ish? v. kings & queens || ava max and you might think i'm weak without a sword but if i had one, it'd be bigger than yours I cannot for the life of me remember if I just heard this on the radio or if it came to me through some kind of fandom playlist, but either way, it's just peppy enough that it got me through the last leg of winter. vi. real boy || lola blanc i can give you life with just a single whisper show you what the meaning of a heartbeat is
I wrote gonna make you feel, boy on my phone near the end of January all in one sitting. I had literally just woken up and it is one of the horniest things I wrote all damn year. Anyway, I made a couple playlists for Hades and this was on both of them. vii. the search || nf "hey, nate, how's life?" i don't know, it's alright i've been dealin' with some things like every human being and really didn't sleep much last night
This is another one where I'm not 100% sure where I found it, but I am so glad I did. My gut reaction is that it was another of the Discover Weekly mixes, but either way, I listened to this song every day for two to three weeks before I finally ventured out and listened to the whole album. Some really fantastic lyrics. viii. experience -remix- || ludovico einaudi & starkey *instrumental* I have loved this song since I watched the Sense8 finale back in 2016/2017. Despite the fact that the ending scene of the finale was basically a giant orgy, the song gave it such a depth of feeling that I ended up crying. Ever since then, this has been my go-to for background music whenever I'm writing something emotional. One of the Discover Weekly mixes threw me this remix and I immediately fell in love. ix. moonlight densetsu -remix- || patrick moon bird *instrumental*
I experienced this tiktok sometime in early March, and it is actually the motivation that finally made me download the damn app. Something about the vibe to it was just so weird and perfect. It had this dreamy quality to it while also somehow giving me flashbacks to the Happy Mask Salesman in Majora's Mask. Anyway, found the remix and saved it to my 2021 playlist, then a couple months down the line I'd end up heavily associating the song with Taako from The Adventure Zone. x. howl's the wolf || kila the wolf will run 'til rising sun the wolf will guide you in your dreams, run free
I ended up doing a trial of Apple TV for the sole purpose of watching Wolfwalkers when it came out. I loved the movie so much, which wasn't too much of a surprise since I think I've loved every single thing that studio has come out with since I first watched Song of the Sea back in 2016. xi. inferno || hiroyuki sawano though you can't see the sun a new day has begun I technically watched Promare back in 2020, but I ended up rewatching it in spring of this year because it just makes me so incandescently happy. I don't know what it is about it, but every time I watch it I end up getting teary by the end and a lot of it is this song, which just crawled into my ribcage and set up shop there. I'm so glad they added it to spotify. xii. demons || hayley kiroko please, forgive me, i've got demons in my head tryna eat me, tryna feed me lies until I'm dead
I did end up discovering this song long before it tethered itself to me as a Loki song (thanks to the beginning of episode three), which is why it shows up so early on this list. Anyway, I don't care what the lyrics say because I have definitely heard "he's fucking me, i've got demons in my head" literally all year. xiii. voidfish || rachel rose mitchell *instrumental* First things first, spoilers for the end of TAZ Balance if you click on the link that I'm about to link to. ANYWAY, I finally experienced The Adventure Zone this year! I read the first two TAZ comics at the beginning of the year and ended up finding this amazing animatic for a scene near the end of the series, and long story short, the combination of those two things finally ended up getting me past the first arc of the podcast, which is apparently all it took to hook me. Anyway, I have basically listened to Voidfish on repeat since I watched this animatic. The SHIVERS that I got at the line "there's magic in a bard song." God. Fantastic. xiv. will you follow me into the dark || klergy no trying to pretend we know where the story ends
Since I listened to a lot of Klergy in January, spotify ended up suggesting this one to me at some point in late spring and I just love the dreamy, melancholy thing that her voice does. This one hit me straight in my wangxian feels, like most of her songs do. xv. providence || eternal eclipse *instrumental*
There is a 95% chance that I found this song through SOME kind of fanvid, but I really don't remember which one. All I know is that Eternal Eclipse pumps out some absolute bangers and they're on a good portion of my writing playlists. xvi. unicorn wizard || ninja sex party sometimes i wish i was even more awesome than i already am. what would my life be like if i turned this shit up to eleven (out of a possible five)? I made a Taako playlist shortly after I finished The Adventure Zone and then uh, didn't actually publish it anywhere? Apparently? ANYWAY. There are 89 songs on the mix, including that remix of Moonlight Densetsu I was talking about earlier. Incidentally, the next few songs on this list are ALSO on the playlist. xvii. me too || meghan trainor who's that sexy thing I see over there? oh, that's me, standin' in the mirror
The most Taako of songs. I sort of love it. xviii. umbrella || rihanna now that it's raining more than ever know that we'll still have each other you can stand under my umbrella
Also on the Taako playlist. You know. Because of the... umbrella. And everything. Look, I thought it was hilarious. xix. colors flying high || lollia so choose a color to live by your goal, your faith, your virtue give it all be the best cause nothing less will do
I have been attempting to finish Persona 5 Royal since September of 2020. We ended up losing our cat, Mal, on September 20th and since I was playing Persona when it happened it has been REALLY hard to get through it. I am still technically on the last dungeon (third semester) but I've made progress. And yes, I know that I can just not play it, but I do love the game and really would like to know how it ends. xx. progress || the dear hunter with every ounce of passion i speak till my lungs both billow out i'll give you something to hope for. The Magnus Archives ended in March this year and I made the mistake of listening to the final episode on the way to work that day and basically crying in the parking lot before I went in. I spent my morning meeting combing through the tag on tumblr and found this artwork (spoilers obvs) which made a mention of this song in their tags. So obviously I went and listened to the song, then KEPT listening to it until lunchtime, when I wrote til my lungs both billow out on my break. Anyway, this song makes me have emotions. xxi. montero || lil nas x i'm not fazed, only here to sin if eve ain't in your garden, you know that you can Montero dropped at some point in the spring and put Lil Nas X on the map for me in a way that Old Town Road never did. It was great, it was catchy, the music video was genius, and I just love that man. I hope he goes far. xxii. underworld || cypress i've been searching for a home but i'm lost inside my mind, i'm trapped in the underworld
I think this was part of a Hades playlist. Very catchy. xxiii. midas || skott midas, you've got me thinking 'bout the story you've everything you ever wanted but will you ever get to hold me?
A spotify discover weekly discovery! Loved her voice, loved the lyrics. xxiv. tell me || johnny jewel ft saoirse ronan be mine for always
Her voice is just so sweet. Possibly another discover weekly find. As you can tell, I listened to a lot of them this year. xxv. story || nf too early to tell, but at this rate i'm thinkin' this might be a bad day
when listening to his album after finding the search earlier in the year, this one really was the first one that resonated. xxvi. levitating || dua lipa i got you, moonlight, you're my starlight i need you all night, come on, dance with me I still REALLY like Dua Lipa's music. xxvii. -error || niki, kradness 壊れているの? 壊れているよ
This is apparently a vocaloid song? I don't know. Somebody was talking about it on twitter and it just stuck with me. xxviii. runaway || aurora i was dancing in the rain i felt alive, and i can't complain This did catch on to tiktok for awhile, but I've been following Aurora's work for the last few years, so seeing her music really pop up there was an absolute delight. I adore her voice. xxix. follow you || imagine dragons i will follow you way down wherever you may go i'll follow you way down to your deepest low
I love Imagine Dragons. I don't care. Every song I've listened to of theirs has been amazing, and I think they have featured on these lists for the last five years. Pretty sure they sold their souls to consistently put out such bops. xxx. shum || go_a Весняночко, весняночко Де ти зимувала?
This was my first year actually paying attention to Eurovision, and holy hell, this song was AMAZING. I ended up looking through the rest of their work and finding other pieces I loved (which are in the longer version of this playlist) and anyway, I don't know, this song will forever make me think of 2021. xxxi. farewell wanderlust || the amazing devil i promise you i'm not broken i promise you there's more more to come, more to reach for, more to hurl at the door
I will forever be thankful for The Witcher because it led me to Joey Batey. I love him so much, and finding The Amazing Devil was a breakthrough for my whole year. Ruin coming out near the end of it was just as perfect! xxxii. from the edge || fictionjunction, lisa 今君はその刃を 何処へ振り下ろす? We watched Demon Hunter at some point in I think maybe late summer? It exceeded my expectations, which was great, even if it did fall into the same trap that I feel like a lot of animes do. The opening went hard. xxxiii. fire || saint mesa burn the broken road hear drums thunder shake in the smoke Not sure where I found it. 90% sure it was another discover weekly playlist. Love it, though. xxxiv. touch it clean -remix- || dj raulito touch it, bring it, pay it, watch it turn it, leave it, start - format it
I do entirely blame Tiktok for this one. xxxv. the devil you know || x ambassadors it's better to know the devil you know the devil you don't 'cause wherever you go, wherever you go with the devil you know your never alone
I think I discovered this one around the time I was mainlining every single season of Lucifer. I'd forgotten how much I loved X Ambassadors' music. xxxvi. grand escape || radwimps 夏風邪に焦る心が 夏をさらに早送るよ めまぐるしい景色の中 君だけが止まって見えた
Man, Weathering With You was amazing. Maybe not QUITE as amazing as Kimi No Na Wa, but it was really beautiful in its own right. This song actually made me cry in the car a few weeks ago. xxxvii. good 4 u — olivia rodrigo maybe i'm too emotional your apathy is like a wound in salt I really like her music. I don't care how similar it is to Paramore's. xxxviii. the killing kind || marianas trench if madness overtakes us both then nobody would be alone the ghost of us can linger here forever not to disappear
I actually found this song on a Magnus Archives fanvideo. The fanvideo was absolutely amazing! However, because I was watching Loki at the time, I then spent the next six to seven weeks in a feverish haze listening to it on repeat because it had solidified itself in my brain as the song that I thought of when I wrote Sylkius. According to my Spotify Wrapped, it is my most listened to song of 2021, which I listened to a very reasonable 137 times. And that isn't including the times I stopped it halfway through to play it again. xxxix. t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l || willow ft travis barker i knew a boy just like you he's a snake, just like you such a fake, just like you I actually ended up messaging one of my friend's asking if this was the same person who did the music for Ruby and he basically just texted me back with, lol Willow Smith??? And then I googled and realized that Willow was... Willow Smith. They do have very similar styles though, and I love her pipes! xl. devil i know || allie x i could pretend that i'm just praying now but i'm only on my knees
Also from the Lucifer phase. Unsurprisingly. They have a LOT of devil-themed songs in that show. xli. thunderous || stray kids bang bang bang boom man, i'm not sorry, i'm dirty I actually ended up finding out that season three of mo dao zu shi was out because @pingvi dropped this vid and I immediately lost my shit and went to go marathon the five episodes that I'd missed. This song is GREAT to listen to in the car and has bass that goes for days. Also, pingvi's videos are just as amazing as they've always been. xlii. your ex-lover is dead || stars there's one thing i want to say so i'll be brave you were what i wanted, i gave what i gave i'm not sorry i met you i'm not sorry it's over i'm not sorry there's nothing to save
This song has been on and off of my radar for years, largely because Life 2: The Unhappy Ending is still my favorite song in all of existence. This song ended up showing up on my discover weekly right as I was trying to write an Akira/Akechi fic for one of my Dark Month prompts - your ex-lover is dead, which I obviously named after the song, because that's how I roll with titles nowadays. Anyway. Good song. Sad feels. It was perfect. xliii. holly holy || neil diamond call the sun in the dead of the night and the sun's gonna rise in the sky
Watched Midnight Mass in October. May have fallen in love with the show itself and the few Neil Diamond songs that were featured. I loved it so much I ended up writing a Sylkius AU for the show. xliv. the village bride || kevin penkin & emi evans *instrumental*
I also watched Star Wars Visions during I day that I had off from food poisoning. I think this episode was my favorite, and this song followed me for weeks. xlv. money || lisa dun, da, la, la, dun-dun, dun, da-la-la, dun-dun dun, da, la, la, dun-dun, dropping on you Another song that I ended up discovering because @pingvi dropped an amazing fanvid. I cannot get over how they utilize sound and have ranted about it to more than one person. This is also a song that's fantastic to listen to in the car, particularly if you're on the highway and can really crank the bass. xlvi. enemy || imagine dragons i'm searching to behold the stories that are told when my back is to the world that was smiling when I turned Full disclosure: the long version of this playlist has basically the entirety of the Arcane soundtrack on it. Arcane was SO AMAZING. I loved it to pieces. This song is probably my favorite that Imagine Dragons has dropped in years and gives me incredibly intense Wei Wuxian feels. xlvii. dirty little animals || bones uk slide, shake your bones out if you wanna ride throw your head back, make you feel alive the kind of bad that make you feel good, good
Seriously, every song on the Arcane soundtrack is a gem, but this one is my favorite. If I remember right, it's the song that Jinx is listening to as she's tinkering. It just has so much energy. I LOVE it. xlviii. inkpot gods || the amazing devil and what you hear is not silence it's just the trees waiting to hear what next you'll hum and what you see is not the dark it's just the gods upturning ink pots 'cause they know what you'll become
Ruin coming out last month was amazing. I listened to the entire album twice through one Sunday morning after a friend tweeted about it and made me realize that it had finally dropped. Inkpot Gods was my favorite track and has made me cry at least two or three times since I started listening. I love it. I love this band. I love their music. It's so perfect. xlix. eleanor rigby || cody fry all the lonely people where do they all come from?
Tiktok lead me to this fantastic cover of The Beatles' Eleanor Rigby - specifically - this Tiktok - which made me flash back to at least six different anime phases. Anyway, the song is great and I get to sing it to my cat, whose name is Rigby. l. louder than words || tick, tick... boom cast if we don't wake up and shake up the nation we'll eat the dust of the world
Tick, Tick... Boom! did such a resounding number on my heart. This one hit harder than most. What does it take to wake up a generation, indeed.

PEMDAS - Special Year-End Edition - Albums
I love end of year lists because I like consensus, rankings and numbers. But consensus is all based on who gets to rank, and the people who get the most access to major publication rankings are white men, so the numbers are tainted by white supremacy, misogyny, and many other forms of bigotry.
Which makes it even more interesting to see what gets ranked where.
Here’s a Google Sheet I made of all the lists and I created a formula that basically measures how many times an album placed on a list as well as how high it placed on that list. I’m going to keep updating this list as it’s not done, but it’s fun to play around with right now!
According to my formula and the critics, the top 10 albums of 2020 (in order) are:
