Favorite michael the piglin headcanons?

YEAH!! I have a few specifically about Michael himself, and a few about other about him, i guess?? He's my favorite child to brainstorm.

Michael is autistic and non-verbal, so one of the first things cBeeduo had cTommy do after the Prison Incident was teaching the entire Underscore Beloved family sign language.

Michael views Shroud as a silly big dog and not the arachnid apex predator he is, much to the horror of cRanboo and delight of cTommy. (<- this specifically only applies where shroud is a normal minecraft spider)

When cPhil had first heard about cRanboo adopting Michael he gifted the little family all the books on babies and kids he owned, which ended up being a whopping fifty-seven large books that took multiple trips to get fully to the mansion.

despite having over eighty chew toys, Michael's favorite is cTommy. Just as a whole. Hands? covered in bite marks. Hair? covered in slobber. Clothes? covered in colorful stains from who knows what.

Because of how involved in raising baby cFundy cTommy was, cBeeduo heavily relied on him through out most of Michael's baby days. When they first learned of how unexpectedly good with babies cTommy was, cTubbo and cRanboo were sure he was just some sort of baby whisperer until cTommy broke the news that he simply had experience.

Michael is very interested in space, stars, planets, and everything cosmology related, and dreams of being a astronaut when he grows up. (totallyyyy not a reference to l'moonburg, whaahhahattt???)

Oh it's been a while since I've broken this bad boy blog out of the sewers.

But hey, let's talk about the mcyt fandom.

Truly, joining Twitter in 2021 was one of the worst steps back for my mental health that I had in a while. Did I meet a ton of really amazing, incredibly talented writers and artists, much easier than I ever did on Tumblr? Yeah! Sure! But I also experienced such an incredibly deep sense of anxiety when every fucking move I made was potentially aired to hundreds of people, which made me realize why I hate Twitter so much.

Scrolling through Tumblr I don't feel any sense of legitimate fear if I like a post to go back to it later, because no one else can see that and accuse me of liking a potentially "problematic" artist or blog. I can spend some of my downtime scrolling through the intriguing, silly mess that is my dashboard and go back to that post that I felt was sus later to see what it was really about.

I understand that people are always nervous about interacting with people that they don't agree with things on. The problematic ones, the ones with weird and uncommon kinks, the ones that make people uncomfortable, but the sheer amount of rampant paranoia I saw within the mcyt fandom on twitter in 2021-2022 felt like the end of fandom as I knew it.

And with a fandom like mcyt, I get it! Dealing with real people and the characters built off of them and especially with content creators who are SO deeply entwined and connected to their audience is much more difficult terrain to traverse when it comes to the taboo.

But seeing the way that so many people got so caught up in wild witch hunts was pretty fuckin terrible too. An errant ao3 bookmark, an off-color comment, an idea from people who weren't familiar with the fandom at large and the content creators' different specific boundaries, and they would be attacked en masse.

I fuckin hated it. I hated it so much. But I couldn't say anything about it, even if I didn't agree with the person myself, because defending someone against the mass dehumanization from the rest of the fandom would mean that I went down with them.

And that, at its core, is something that deeply concerns and scares me. Because at the end of the day, who and what is fanfic, even problematic ones, hurting? No one who doesn't read it. And with a site like ao3 with tags and warnings and summaries, that should be happening less and less, if people just use it properly.

I'm not saying there weren't weird people in the fandom that I would prefer to not to interact with myself, and I'm not going to say that I people should be forced to interact with people who make them uncomfortable.

But, I am saying that far too many people in that fandom were ready to dehumanize anybody who stepped even slightly out of bounds, which is something that no one deserves.

I could really go on and on about this topic and the purity culture that exists within the mcyt fandom, but by god I'm not mentally ready for that rn. Just remember that weird people are people too and don't deserve to die because of fiction that they thought up/made art of/wrote down.

I think it’s really interesting how c!Tommy being an annoying little shit masks how much of a people pleaser he is when it’s also a massive part of how he tries to appeal to those around him like. He's gotten positive attention from being an obnoxious dick! People go along with what he does and help him pull dumb pranks. It’s just when he crosses the line people get mad at him, and c!Tommy's an incredibly reckless teenager- he crosses that line a lot because he hasn’t learnt it yet, he’s still pushing boundaries (which is completely developmentally appropriate for a sixteen year old, it’s Healthy and Good because it’s a part of learning how to respect them) but as far as he’s been Shown people find it funny when he’s annoying until it isn’t anymore. c!Tommy wants people to like him he wants to be helpful and funny and he thinks that being a little shit is making people laugh (because like it does) so he keeps doing it.

Like, c!Tommy is a very self conscious character in a lot of ways, it’s just hard to tell because he projects this image of cockiness. But he’s not- he has chronically low self esteem to the point he needed the discs to feel worthy of being alive even at the beginning of the server. And one of those ways he’s self conscious is that he places an unhealthy amount of value in his ability to be helpful and please others. Like, this isn’t to say he’s never a prick intentionally- he is a lot of the time, that’s Also developmentally appropriate and a Healthy and Good thing that teenagers learning social skills do. But the reason he’s “annoying at first” is because he knows about the “at first” bit. It endears him to people, at least some of them, and while he’s very emotionally intelligent and perceptive, he’s still a teenager and goes too far with it a lot.

c!Tommy is strong-willed, but that isn’t because of self confidence- it’s sheer stubborn defiance. Which is a strength in some ways- confidence can be eroded, but you can’t take away that fundamental personality trait so easily. c!Tommy is a character that shifts a lot, trying to appeal to those around him- especially those who frighten him, he has a very strong fawn instinct, as Exile shows- but he’s also a character that's got a strong and consistent personality, due to this stubbornness. He refuses to change who he fundamentally is, even if he tries to use it to seem charming and desperately try and prevent people from leaving, because he’s terrified of being alone more than anything else. His stubbornness just overpowers his fear in all but the most extreme circumstances.

Idk where I’m going with this I just think c!Tommy's a very interesting and deep character who manages to do the “totally different to how he appears on the surface” thing so well because his facade and his true self are so consistent and come from very prominent character traits even if they differ a lot. c!Tommy the Big Man and c!Tommy the insecure people pleaser feel congruent, in a way that Oh c!Dream Was Secretly A Sad Boy doesn't (and I’m saying that as someone who writes an incredibly pathetic wet cat c!Dream)
